Alright, cool. Thanks with the card suggestion too, that one looks better anyway. |

Just a note. The card I threw out there doesn't support OpenGL. Not sure if that's a big deal, but it is smaller than the other one. The second one needs a 6-pin power connector on it. Also, the first one uses GDDR3 and the second uses DDR3. Other than that, they're the same card. The things I listed aren't that big of deals. |

http://www.newegg.com/Product/Product.aspx?Item=N82E16820148150 Switched the RAM for this. I went looking around for full size cases, unfortunately any sort of case/PSU combo that I would want will increase my cost by over $100 (not even including the crazy shipping costs for bigger cases). The price is the main reason I'm going with the ones I have now. |

That looks good. Go for it. Be glad you're getting DDR3 BTW, that technology is just starting to become big. I'm still stuck with DDR2 RAM and I just built my rig 3 months ago. |

Haha, that kinda sucks. I'm getting pretty excited about putting this together (too bad I won't be able to until at least next Tuesday because I have finals and whatnot, plus I'm getting it shipped home instead of here). Last time I put a computer together was probably 5-6 years ago, so it should be fun to do it again with more experience than I had last time...which was none. It's almost a miracle that computer ever worked. |

Putting computers together is awesome. I'm so glad I'm going into this field for a career. Such an awesome field to work in...if you don't count the complete and utter fuckheads that use computers and ask you to fix them everyday. |

Man that hard drive being out of stock is really bugging me. They have Western Digital HD's of the same size for the same price in stock, but I've heard better things about the Samsung. |

...Awesome, they just got rid of the $60 price reduction on that monitor. Can still get an Asus monitor (the highest rated LCD monitor there) that's 1.6 inches bigger for the original $200 though...but I wanted that other monitor. Oh well I can sort this all out when I'm actually gonna place my order. |

I've noticed. Of course if I hadn't taken my time I would have ended up buying stuff I didn't want/wasn't right. They have an open box one of those monitors available for $180 but I don't know how good/bad open box means with them. |

Probably just going to go with the ASUS monitor. http://www.newegg.com/Product/Product.aspx?Item=N82E16824236052 It has good reviews and looks pretty good. Only downside is it doesn't have component input so if I ever want to use it with my 360 I'm out of luck. Course I could always buy a 360 that actually has HDMI output if I really HAVE to use this monitor. Edited by Bagshot, Tuesday 4-05-2010, 19:14.

Probably don't need the speakers if you buy a monitor with speakers. |

Yeah that's true but monitor speakers are usually pretty terrible. Plus these ones are only 10 bucks and they're highly rated so might as well. |

Haha. I understand your point, but I read some reviews of that monitor I'm getting and it pretty much made me want external speakers anyway. Also it'll be really weird to have a 23.6 inch 1080p monitor and a 23 inch 720p hdtv but I can't really get around that until I buy a new TV. |
