An actual IM session with a girl the day that Michael Jackson died:

her: lol can you believe michael jackson is Dead!
me: yeah, it's crazy, i actually liked his music too
her: you can still like it even though he's dead
her: lol

What the hell? When did I ever imply that I was going to stop listening to his music? >_>

It's because that's what she was secretly planning to do.

Kill her, now.

It's because she's a girl. It comes with having a vagina. Forgive her and then make love to her.

Well he was obviously the King of Pop and his songs aren't bad. I've never been a fan, but it was virtually impossible to not know a few of his songs. Hell, we used Thriller for our Elementary School musical.

The thing that annoys me is all the closest fans coming out now that he's dead.

ALL IRONS IRON IRON !
I've always liked Michael Jackson a tremendous amount, and I'm sure I always will.
I wouldn't say he's the King of Music, no one is, but MJ as well as a few others are damn close.
Maybe you just don't understand how his music works, Terra, because I certainly don't think all his songs sound the same. Maybe a few, but, Thriller - Man in the Mirror? Kekeke.
I think he was amazing. And even before his death I would kick anyone's ass for dissing him.
I think he was completley original, astounding and he didn't deserve all the crap he did more than the next guy.

LEAVE MICHAEL ALONE ;____: !!!

Thriller? I've always found that song lame. Black and White is probably my favorite MJ song. He's an awesome dancer, but I still think he's overrated. I want variation in my music or I get bored real fast. MJ just doesn't do it for me.

I don't think anyone has claimed him as the king of music. Just the king of pop. Now that he's dead, take a look around. Has my generation (or yours) produced someone that could really go toe to toe with Michael Jackson in terms of his performance (both his literal stage performance and his album sells)? I don't think so. At least, that I can think of at the moment. The only act that comes to mind is The Jonas Brothers and I honestly don't know anything about them so I shouldn't have even brought them up. Say what you will about the "repetitiveness" of Michael's songs. That same thing can be placed on every single artist. Dream Theater? I'm sorry, it all sounds the same. Megadeth, Metallica, 'Maiden? All of their shit sounds the same when you really pay attention, no matter how much you love them. The current state of rap? I can't tell one spook from the next. They're as disposable as they are impersonal. Michael was an eccentric, fucking weird space cadet that left behind a tragic story and allegations. Half of the mystique was the man himself, not the music.

And I didn't quote those four bands claiming that your fans of them or anything, I was just pulling some out of the hat. I'll add one of my personal favorites to the list. Primus. Off the wall, weird, and nearly unclassifiable. Variety? They have it. But in the end it all sounds the same if you listen long enough. The public view seems to have shifted. We don't want stars anymore. We don't want a Bowie or a Jagger. We want to see someone up on stage that aren't bigger than life, that are grounded. So we can sit back and say "wow I could probably do that one day." What's the fuckin' fun in that?

I seem to be the only one with homicidal tendencies.

Tap it after she's dead!

(Wait wait wait, that's probably worse, isn't it?)

Why wouldn't he? The black community is exploiting this so heavily when they didn't want anything to do with him before he died. I walked through and saw that Reverend Al Sharpton was running his fucking mouth too. If there was a god that man wouldn't get nearly as much exposure as he does. With such a preface to that last sentence I feel like I probably should have wished something for something a little more harsh to happen to him.
