As much as I love Dark Side of the Moon, I actually have not listened to the entire CD in a very long time. Part has to do with the fact that I cannot access my external hard drive of music, and part that my tastes and grown a bit apart from the album that really introduced me to music.

I put the cd on today and just laid down on my couch and just listened to the entire CD straight. And it was like my ears opened up again. I haven't heard music like that in such a long time. I am at the point where I just fire up a song on my iPod while I walk to class. I haven't actually listened to music in the longest time. I dunno, I probably don't make sense, but it was a great moment for me.

Heh, I think I know what you mean, except for me, it was "Wish You Were Here." I found a list I made from a couple of years ago of my ten favorite CDs and I saw that WYWH was on there so I decided to give it a listen again and it sounded just as good as the day I bought it.

You make sense to me, alright. As for the topic, I have never done such a thing with CDs (for starters, I don't own any). I have, however, picked up Pokémon Yellow yesterday. Haven't played that game in a long time, so it's quite a surprise when you pick it up for the first time in a long time again. It has made me realize that I haven't actually played any other Pokémon games, all I ever do in Ruby is level up, find different Pokémon, level those up, then beat the boss. When I played Red for the first time, I remember talking to all NPCs just to get every single secret out of the game. I can't bring myself to go through that in the subsequent titles.

Wish You Were Here is such an amazing album. Have a Cigar is my favorite Floyd single (not that I measure Pink Floyd by single songs) and the album is so well put together. Probably my second favorite album after DSOFM.

I think I know what you mean, though not as extreme. I recently browsed last.fm apps and noticed there wasn't a single play added to one artist in 6 months. I then took an album, hit play and noticed it was still amazing, and even refreshing.

But the reason I stop listening to music are "addictions" to certain artists. That seriously messes up your music taste.

Thats what my problem is. Like, very recently I have been listening to Jonathon Coulton, David Bowie, Carbon Leaf, and some gaming music, and of all of those, only Bowie is one that will last. Bands like Zepplin, Floyd, Bob Dylan, and various others that a few years ago I listened to like crazy fell because of these addictions. There is a lot of good music that I love that I honestly haven't listened to in a while, and I think it is about time for me to change that.

also, maybe billy corgan was on to something when he threw that tantrum and declared he would never make another album due to iTunes ruining music. i never really think about it because outside of a few specific artists i usually prefer listening to an entire album, or at least chunks of an album, as opposed to back to back 'hot tracks'.

Actally, I just listened to "The Great Rock 'n' Roll Swindle" by the Sex Pistols after about 3 months. I used to love them. Now they're just....meh.

I listen to entire albums most of the time, but recently I forced myself to let my Zen shuffle through all songs so I don't listen to the same music all the time.
