I have no idea how to play, and whenever I would join a game, I would get massively owned. :(

Is there any way I can figure out what I'm supposed to do? Like, the advantages/disadvantages of each character and whatnot?

Okay, so if I'm a medic, I shoot my own team members, right? I can't hurt the enemy then?

You shoot your teammates with the big gun that shoots the beam. You can hurt the enemy with the needle gun and the hacksaw.

Right but I was just letting him know that you CAN hurt the enemy, though it isn't really the Medic's job.

Okay, thanks. What's an ubercharge? I keep hearing about it on the TF2 boards?

Another question, why does my medigun not work when firing normally? I was just trying to test it out, but do I have to be aiming at another player?

There is a meter to the lower right that charges as you heal, once it fills, you can make yourself and your healing target invincible for 10 seconds. With the medigun you just hold the left button and heal.

And yes you do need a target for it to shoot anything.

Go into your options and in keyboard controls there's an advanced tab. Click that than check the box about the medic something or other. It makes it so you don't have to hold down the button the whole time you're healing.

Also scout is god tier I can fuck anyone up (on 2fort) fyear.

If I hadn't uninstalled TF2, I'd join a server with you and help you, agh >_<

But yeah... it's pretty easy to play engineer or medic. With medic, you just stay alive as long as possible while running around like mad to avoid bullets. When you get an ubercharge, follow a Heavy, Demo, or Pyro and they should see you've got an uber ready, and they'll run forward. Fire it off right before they come under enemy fire or when you see a nearby sentry.

As for engineer, host an empty server and spend about five minutes building things. Learn how to build (it's easy, just use the blueprints), think about where they're best placed, etc.

Best place to do engineer is Dustbowl on the red team, defense. The places you need to defend are really apparent. Drop a dispenser (#2 in blueprints), run off to find an ammo pack, run back, build sentry (#1), wrench the sentry to make it build faster, build tele exit (#4) in a nearby corner.

At the very very very beginning of every map, always put a tele entry (#3) right outside the building you spawn in, run back in, and get more ammo.

Just remember, when you come under fire, crouch and WRENCH YOUR SENTRY LIKE HELL. Unless there are stickies, in which case you are fucked and should run.

Really, almost every class is easy to play. Like the Heavy, just point and shoot. Or the Soldier, just aim and fire your four rounds and then run back under cover. Or the Pyro, approach a group from the side and flame the hell out of them. The two harder classes to play are the Scout (it's pretty hard to stay on the move all the time and fire when you're that damn fast) and the Spy. Don't even touch the Spy until you've played a couple dozen hours, because it is the hardest class in the game, but it's also the best way to bone defensive engineers.

Spy is useless and it's not worth mastering...

I'd say easiest class is pyro, but that may be because it's my favorite
