Yeah, and having both characters in the game would have made their inclusion in the game make more sense. I mean, it mentions that the only reason Yoda gets involved in everything in the storyline is because Vader does too... yet you never even encounter him.

"Hey, can I see the back of the box for Soul Calibur IV?"

Uh, sure?

*examines copyright notices for 360 version*

"And the PS3 version?"

Um, okay...

*does the same*

"Okay, thanks."

Um, sure, I guess. *scratches head*

Rats, no copyright notices for Kosuke Fujishima or Mutsumi Inomata... no Tales characters or character parts. What? There was one for Soul Calibur Legends!

As it stands, I still feel pretty burned by SCIII. Spending 30 hours fighting shitty create-a-characters so I can make enough money to create the characters I wanted to in the first place, only to have the game corrupt the save file when I DO make it far enough to unlock the KOS-MOS armor... no, fuck you, Soul Calibur. That's not right.

Lemme guess; no way to turn off the Star Wars characters, right? Not that I was expecting as much, but it still sucks.

The whole thing with turning off the Star Wars characters would be pointless, anyway. You only encounter them in Arcade Mode, or if you choose to take them through Story Mode. Yoda nor 'The Apprentice' ever show up in any of the other character's story modes.

Though I'm glad I never played Soul Calibur 3; it appears to have imbued you with hatred.

I don't care what anyone says, Soul Calibur 1 was still the best. Even though everyone I know orgasms over SCII, the original is where it is at.

Anyways, I think I am going to pick this up along with an extra controller tomorrow, so me and my buddy can play it this weekend.

the create a character thing didn't work like I expected it too. Even though you have to edit an existing character I guess there will be a robust enough inventory of equipment to make it feel a little less shallow eventually.
I thought I was going to have to play as my mutilated version of Nightmare for the first hour or so until I realized you create new custom people by picking that portrait in the middle with 2 people on it. seems like it would have been easier to just have it say on the screen "press X to create a new character" or something like that.

Arcade mode is exactly where I'd want to turn them off...>_>

But yeah, SCIII was a steaming pile of shit. The character's weren't balanced since it didn't have play time in arcades, there was a known glitch that corrupts your save file, the create-a-character sucked ass (all the weapon types had shitty, unbalanced, and just plain cheap movesets), and the only way to unlock shit was through that Jesus-Fuck-this-is-terrible "strategy" game, where you're forced to play as the create-a-characters to continue, and also forced to level (yes, the character's had levels) so that you character was worth a shit, which mostly involved losing round after round to have the minimal increase that wouldn't even help you by the time it came since you'd have long since won that battle on random luck alone. It's funny and somewhat expected that the game to have the worst "grinding" experience wasn't even a fucking RPG. The only redeeming thing I can think of is that they eventually let you play as Li Long again (move the fuck out the way, Maxi). Oh, and the KOS-MOS armor, but then again, that's just a model; you'd still be stuck with a shitty CAC.

Fuck you, Soul Calibur III.

Oh, and fuck you Namco. I'm never referring to IV as Soulcalibur IV, other than this sentence. It just sounds stupid.

Hey Phant, why would you want to turn them off in Arcade? I figured the major problem you had with the Star Wars characters being included (aside from the obvious promotional whoring for the Force Unleashed) would be because they would be futzing with whatever semblance of a storyline that was present.

I know we went over all of this long before the game came out, but that was a pound or two of smoke ago.

The Apprentince raped me when I first came up against him in Arcade mode. At least three times in a row (rematches, not just rounds.)

Is the Apprentice really that overpowered?

*is reminded of Link in SCII and his super-cheap A+B grab ring-outs*

Nah, my beef wasn't that much about the story (though that's probably what I vocalized more), but because I thought they'd be really cheap. So far, that seems to be a valid concern, though the one time I fought the Apprentice, I owned his ass...

...

Yes, I bought the game today. Probably shouldn't have, from a financial standpoint, but oh well. Though I should complement them on the fact that they fixed just about every problem I had with the create-a-character mode, and the overabundance of modes from 3.

My whole point with the story was that I wasn't hearing even rudimentary elements of it up until I actually played the game, just because they've been whoring the fuck out of those extra characters and their inclusion. Shit, I forgot all about Schehazerade until I fought her (the Deedlit clone, to all two people that'll know who that is...).

Also, what the fuck is with getting an achievement from just turning the game on?
