I remember one time in 5th grade, every night, I would dream about a ghost choir singing a deadly melody on the roof. Every night at 12, I would wake up shivering and unable to sleep the rest of the night for a whole month. And halfway through that month, I could actually hear the ghost choir AFTER I woke up. Scared the shit out of me until I finally decided to plug earphones in my ear and turn on soft, calming music when I woke up. Finally got rid of the nightmare after 3 months.

I have the occasional strange dream but nothing that really qualifies as nightmares.

Actually, I know Ive had them before but all my life they were a very rare occurrence and weren't ever triggered by things normally designed to be scary and give people/little kids nightmares.

Does it really count as a nightmare if you enjoy it?

I don't like having nightmares...My favorite dreams are the ones that i'm having sex with some hot girl in. >_> Obviously.

When I was a kid i used to have nightmares about people chasing me ever so often. They're still the most frequent ones for me, tho i don't have nightmares that often anymore.

I'm Coming Home
I have recurring nightmares that involve me roaming through weird mansions and houses with lots of underground tunnels and dummy walls/rooms that usually involve me getting accosted by hostile ghosts/poltergeist. It's weird because there's always a turning point in my dreams where I unconciously realize I'm about to plunge into the familiar nightmare. Everything in the dream world gets fuzzy and my dream movement becomes severely sluggish while everything I hear exasperates.

I don't suppose this really fits the topic since I can't pinpoint anything that I encounter while waking that leads me to nightmares. Except maybe all of the pot I smoke.

Oh, and then there was this one time, when I was in a dream, and I looked outside to see several meteors falling to the ground. Panicked, I ran throughout the house in my dream only to find my grandma on the top floor... with a meteor crashing doomsday machine. Yeah. I don't think the meteors and impending doom scared me near as much as the fact that my grandma wouldn't listen to me and sounded evil as all hell.

Then there was another one where my brother was playing E.V.O. and one of the bosses turned out to be my dad trapped in the game. My brother didn't notice him screaming for his life or me screaming for him to stop. And to top it all off, when my dad "died", he turned into the characteristic meat from that game that's dropped from all foes, and my brother's creature ate it. I had to check to see if my Dad was still there when I woke up.

These were years ago, though.

Think about it Phant, if you had gone to inspect the meteors in the first dream you outlined you could have acquired a dream-world Buzz Buzz.

Well, the reason I don't have nightmares anymore is cuz I don't really consider em scary now. I mean, this is gonna sound really weird but I love dreams where I die or get killed. I know that it's a dream, and I know that I'm not really dead, so usually when I can't control a dream, it's at this point that my conscious takes over and the dream becomes lucid. I usually end up doing my OBE thing after these.

But yeah, the worst dreams I've had all summer were about her. :(
Nothing that my ability to control the dreams could help, cuz i'd wake up an emotional mess.

Phant wins for E.V.O.

And I thought smoking was supposed to suppress dreaming, Mr Z. I can't remember any of my dreams if I go to bed high, at least.

I've been toking so long evidentally I'm immune to the effects, though I do believe you're right. I've heard that somewhere before, but I have a dream nearly every night.

I'm scared of my nightmares most of the time, but I love the feeling of being scared.

My mind is capable of adding random horror movie elements into something genuinely scary without using shock effects.
