Urge to buy the Orange Box rising

Steam, the format, can go jump in a fiery lake of molten doom for all I care, but I want to play TF2, and all those extra games in there also sound awesome as fuck... though I already have Half-Life 2 which got me lost in Ravenholm and I haven't picked it up since.

I have $180~, I want an R4, -$65~, and possibly a used PS2 with some cheap games. Thats still some money left over. So should I buy it? I would only be able to play the damn game on a laptop though... >_>

I bought it for the 360. This fact makes me sad, as I am missing out on all the epic PC TF2 action going on here. Don't make my mistake and miss out on the fun.

I don't see what's not to like about Steam.
Digital distribution is awesome.
I bought Half-Life like six years ago, no idea where the discs are, just went on steam and redownloaded it and counterstrike yesterday. Then I died a few dozen times and went back to TF2.

I hate Digital Distribution. So if Valve for any reason tanks and takes its servers offline and I lose my games... oh well? sucks to be me?

A major corporation's servers (and most likely backup servers) crash and your own computer loses its Steam data at the same time? Unlikely.

Oh, you meant that they go out of business? That wouldn't make a difference. Everything is client-side. Online might go down, but I'm sure people would find a way to keep their own servers up.

And LAN. LAN would most likely still be up.

Steam is shit on dialup, that's the reason I hate it.

Won't let me play god damn Half-Life 2 without connecting to the god damn internet for a patch it doesnt even god damn need.

Seriously, I haven't patched any of my games in years. Unnecessariness ftl!

BUT THEY EDITED A LINE OF CODE FOR THE PARTICLE BEAM DISPERSION PROGRAMMING.

Seriously, I watch Star Trek and I don't even know what that is.

Maybe you just need a not-suck patch to get past Ravenholm?

>_>

And even though I admit the unlikeliness of such a situation, I'm against digital distribution for the same reason as Judge Doom.

I have the Orange Box case. It's an orange box.

And I think there's a paper outlining the controls for the games.
