I need something to do during the summer and I want to increase my portfolio.. Puzzle games are probably the best choice, but I'll take anything into consideration as long as it is small enough.. |

Something simple, yet addicting, eh? Well, I do have an idea I thought up some time ago, but I don't know if constitutes a simple game. "Simon Says Hero", some souped up Simon Says meets Guitar Hero hybrid. The game starts of with a series of buttons you need to push and memorize. You also have a track that flings buttons at you much as in Guitar Hero, which you need to hit at the correct time. At certain times, the screen will flash and you will need to play the tune you started with at the beginning of the game. The game will then add one new note to the tune which you need to memorize. Miss a note of the riddle you heard at the beginning of the game, and it's game over. Just be sure to incorporate some system where people can get massive scores. People seem to dig large numbers. |

Do that^^ with multipliers. I heard from a reliable source that people dig massive scores. Power-ups can be saved for the 2.0. Edited by RikusSexSlave, Friday 13-06-2008, 14:07.

A RPG where you can beat bad guys (and including yourself) with a stick to level up. And the bad guys can be an evil empire of killer clowns.

Try something music based, similar to DDR or GH. Those are usually popular and somewhat simple to make. If you want to really make it interesting, try making Guitar Hero with a boss fight. Like, having different sequences and crowd reactions deal damage to the boss. Kind of like a "Guitar off" or something. |

You know how to do things with a 360 controller, right? An idea I had a while ago involved making fun of those JRPG heroes with the gigantic swords. First off, the game is controlled via the analog sticks only. Two, it's a platformer. Three, you gain momentum to do jumps by swinging a massive sword. You swing it up, and it makes your character want to fly up, and down to make your character want to go down. Or in whatever direction you move the sword. The left analog stick would be used to control the guy's left and right movement (or I guess even left to right movement in the air), and the right analog stick controls the rotation of the sword. And no jump button! Though I suppose that would be gleaned from the above. |

I'm thinking about doing something similar to phant's idea, but scaled down a bit.. It will probably take a while as I don't have anything resembling an engine yet, but as soon as something is ready for testing it will appear here on this board.. That's the one good thing about not getting to stay on the team, I can actually talk about and show my work now.. =) |
