They're newest complaint is that Juggernaut is hopelessly overpowered, along with the M16

Nah, he's one of my friends that moved away and is always calling me to hop on CoD4 to play with him. He mentioned he was on his seventh prestige so I figured anyone that played on Live was bound to have run across him by now. |

Oh. I'm considering writing a guide for GFAQs that explains all the quirks of the guns. Did you know that the sight sway of the G36C is only 1/3 that of the M4, and this decreases further if you crouch or go prone? Or that the AK-47's damage actually decreases if put a red dot or silencer on it? There's a ton of weird shit that people don't' understand going on with this game.

No, I didn't and don't know shit about the game and would benefit greatly from such a guide so if you find yourself with the time, I think you should write it. I agree with the 'nade spamming thing. The day that I played for hours with Poofmass on Live I got to where I was doing alright (considering my notorious suckitude at FPSs) but the martyrdom thing would get me every single fucking time. |

Yeah, nades annoy me too, but IW is famous for not making any balance changes to their games post-release (this is usually for the better, as most people crying nerf don't know what they're talking about; this ruined Battlefield 2). My solution to Martydom would be for it to only give 2 points (the same as an assist) that way people would actually have to seriously consider it against other perks like Steady aim or Deep Impact. As it stands now Marty is by far the most effective Perk 3. |

What is a good beginner set up that includes a shotgun? I've really been meaning to play more of the online game of CoD4 because I did enjoy my time spent with it. |

All they have to do to make Matrydon more balanced is 1) If you throw all 3(or 1) of your nades you don't have any. Where the fuck does this magical nade just appear from? 2) If your knifed or shot in the head it doesn't work. With last stand you don't get the choice cause its realistic. Your not gonna be able to do a last stand if a sniper pins you in the skull. Your also not gonna be able to pull the pin on a nade if you get stabbed to death from behind. |

Depends on what perks you have access to. I had a set up a while ago that was the pump shottie, 3X frag, juggernaut, and Martyrdom (I feel dropping a grenade when you die is a valid strategy if your class revolves around being close to an enemy/clearing rooms). It was my wetwork / shipment class. So for a beginner: Whichever shottie you prefer 3X frag (although you can use a grip if you'd like) or RPG Juggernaut martyrdom / steady aim / last stand. It's really up to you and whatever perks you like, although the class with the most "automatic" benefits and most newb friendly is probably Auto shottie 3X frag Juggernaut Martyrdom Also, Double tap on the pump shottie makes you pump it for the next shot faster. |

The Juggy and M16 complaints aren't new I'm afraid. People have been crying about them only slightly more than everything else in the game for ages. I've never really had a problem with people using the M16, and I was always able to counter juggys with stopping power. I hate to sound like an elitist hardcore prick, but gat damn! Hardcore is the way to go in this game. It's far more balanced in my opinion. There is a lot less random grenade spamming, and people don't only use the M16 because bullets actually kill! All guns are effective if used correctly. Good times... Good times... Pyro, I know I probably asked before, but are you on the 360 or PC? |

Wait... Wut? This is a new one to me! I'm going to have to try that out. I love the pump shotty as hit has more rounds before having to reload, but I usually get hosed if I don't kill with the first shot. Also... when people call the M16 powerful, they aren't just stuffed with bitter lies. It's a fucking beast if all 3 shots hit. It can be a very effective close range weapon if you use steady aim as a 3rd perk. Just throwing that out there. |

Sorry it took me forever to respond :<_<: I'm on PC, which might explain why I don't mind the M16. However, I've played the 360 version extensively over a friend's house, and I have to say that the major difference between close range on the two platforms is that at close range, people on PC use the cross hairs more because it's easy to keep your reticule on target while circle strafing. Obviously, this nerfs the M16 considerably. However, 360 users, next time you're up against an M16 in CQC, try strafing. Just move sharply left or right and he might not get a chance to OHK burst you. I do that instinctively even when playing on 360, and I almost never get killed by M16s at close range. As for Hardcore, I have to say that i think it's a lot worse balanced than regular mode. If you've ever wondered, your health is set to 30% in HC, so basically every gun kills in one shot except the skorpion. This means that there is absolutely zero reason to use the G3 or M14 over the M16 (I've used the M16 as a shotgun with great results on HC), or the M4 over the G36C, or any of the snipers over the M21. It severly limits the pool of effective weapons. Another problem I have with it is that at medium range, firefights come completely down to luck: Who's gun will happen to fire out the winning shot first? (assuming no one is using a super-accurate SMG, but still). Meh, but to each his own. TL;DR: I'm on PC, circle strafe against M16s, no weapon diversity on hardcore. |
