I just got my internet back on a few hours ago (I have been without it for days), and I have an assignment due at midnight.

I just started, and I can't even get by the first part (fuck C++).

I emailed my professor for an extension, but have gotten no response.

Shit.

what do you have to do?

Code a program that can read in a text file, compress it using Huffman Coding, and then make another program that can decompress it.

I know the theory behind all of it, but I am stuck on a shitty part of the initial step. At this point, I just don't have enough time to code it all, even though I know what to do.

I also have a 2-4 page post lab report to do too.

Normally it is Thursday at midnight, but it got pushed back two days because of the Virginia Tech shootings.

You probably don't want to actually do computer programming.

>_>

I'd suggest looking into it and trying to learn some basics on your own right now just to see if it's something you would be fine with.

Hmm, I'll keep that in mind. Thanks.

I thought I might be interested during high school, so I took Computer Science...then I learned that it's pretty much the last thing I actually want to do.

I actually like Computer Programming.

But when you have a few hours to do something that was meant to take a week to do...

I'm in computer business and I'm enjoying it, but based on my observations some people are just obsessed with programing in my classes(they love it). it's kinda scary.

I was going to say something about the PS1 incarnation of RPG Maker, or the gambits in FFXII, but then I realized it was a gross generalization on my part.

Don't feel so bad, S.eto. I've got, what, seven programming assignments to do that have been passed out through the semester (they're basically due on the last day of class), 3 networking labs (I fucking HATE networking), some Discrete Math assignment (hurray for taking a class twice! >_>;), and an already late economics assignment. Actually, I should probably start on that tomorrow...>_>

Don't get me started on Discrete Math. I am in Discrete Math II, and I just hope I can pull a C in it, so that I don't have to take it again.

Yeah, I'm in Discrete Math too. I'm just barely past the halfway point with an A-. Then again, it is HS Discrete.

It depends on what Discrete Math it is.

I passed my Discrete Math I with a B without trying at all. I spent literally 30 minutes a week on homework, and remember reading the Zombie Survival Guide during class a lot. All it was was boolean expressions, truth tables, and graphs. The only hard part, for me, were the proofs.

Discrete Math II, however, is so complicated, theoritical, and is basically all proofs. If my teacher didn't give partial credit on stuff, I would literally have a zero in the class. But now I have a C, and want to keep it that way.

I SHOULD be in Discrete Math II; it helps if the professor doesn't set the class up in such a way as to ensure failure.

I suppose it helps if you read the book, too...>_>;

How much do grades even really matter in college, outside of keeping any scholarships you may/may not have and actually passing a class? >_>

Well, I am on academic probation now, so I need all of my grades to be a C or above, basically. So as long as I don't fail Discrete Math, I am good.

Other than that, I don't care much about grades, besides having my parents nag me less. Thats about it.
