What did you think of Phantasia Phant?

And yes, ToS was really cliched. But, IMO, ToS pulled off those cliches very well, and even poked fun at it in a few cases. It wasn't trying for anything original; it was just taking what worked and doing a good job with it.

Phantasia was good enough to warrant my original GameFAQs name, at least. The problem (if you can call it that) with it was that I played it way after its release. I could see how dated it was, and how sketchy the original battle system was. The story that I've heard thus far isn't the most interesting or original thing I've ever heard, but it's far from bad. The thing that pissed me off was this "war" segment I got to; you have to go through a bunch of fields of the same boring battles for who the hell knows how long (I can't stand to play through it).

But with Symphonia, I kind of stopped caring about the story when it was first presented to me. If Colette was so god damned important to the welfare of the world, why is she just then (the beginning of the game) learning of her importance in school, of all places? That was so damned cliche it's bad! From then on, it went from me being able to guess the foreshadowing, from me seeming like a prophet; I saw every "twist" coming from a mile away, mainly because I knew of all those cliches.

The sad part is, as much as I like Destiny, when I try to compare plot lines, it just doesn't come to me anymore. Hell, I played it back in the year of its release; I just don't remember the story anymore...

I never could get into this game.
I'm ALMOST at the end but just don't give any fucks whatsoever about any of the characters or the plot. Easily the worst Tales of Game.

Wat?

I liked the characterization and the addition of actual psychological disorders to actually explain his reactions to fucked up situations. Considering the characters in all the other games fall into strict types, it was refreshing to play as someone that had some hangup brought about by unreal situations.

He didn't have a past to begin with. That's what was interesting.

I meant the replicants, not the VG characters in general.

You mean the bad guys?

They're always underdeveloped. I've really stopped caring.

*insert Vesperia hate here*

Abyss was amazing just for the FoF system alone. I wish that became standard for all Tales games...

Abyss is probably my favorite Tales game thus far(keep in mind i havent played the ones on PS1, and i have played Phantasia). As Phant said earlier, Luke probably had one of the best characterizations of any Tales character. He went from a spoiled as shit rich boy to a hero. Plus, FoF. nuff said

The tutorial was so poorly translated.
