Some days, it was all a joke to him; others, it was altogether far too serious. Today was somewhere in-between. Far from being a comfortable medium, it left him feeling anxious, as if something were lurking just beyond his field of his vision and waiting for him to drop his guard just enough before pouncing. Being woken early in the morning by his sisters "just wanting to talk" and then again by Emma, one of his employee calling in with her latest sob story, tended to do that to him, however. He was going to take the night off, and seeing as it was a Thursday night, he might still could. But while Aileen could certainly whatever little rush there might be, leaving her alone to close was perhaps not the best idea. So, after hanging up with Emma, he had forced himself out of bed, into the shower, and then to the pub.

Aileen was busy prepping for opening when he came from the back room and did a bit of a double take at the sight of him. "And just why are you here?" she asked and then lifted a hand as she shook her head. "Wait—don't tell me... Emma called in again, didn't she?" With a soft sigh, Logan nodded and leaned his hip against the counter. "You need to just fire her lazy arse."

That elicited a harsh sigh from him. He crossed his arms over his chest and chewed at his cheek for a moment. "I probably do... why don't you tell her for me?"

"Me?" she repeated with a frown. She rolled her blue eyes and rested her hands on her hips. "You aren't paying me nearly enough for this kind of shite."

"Am I not? That's easily fixable."

Reaching for a towel, she flicked it and hit him on the arm with a soft snap. "That's called sarcasm, Lo. You should look it up sometime."

He gave her a crooked grin, and then they both got to work. The day was long, primarily because, as he had expected, business was terrible slow. Leaning back against the back counter, he watched the news displayed above the bar with glazed eyes. He poured himself a shot of Scotch and downed it. Aileen caught his eyes to scowl slightly at him. He only winked and returned to pretending to watch the news and actually watching the clock. Never did he think he would crave a bit of excitement again, but on nights like this, it was hard not to. Life was dreadfully mundane, and he felt like Sisyphus ever rolling his stone up the hill over for it slip from his grasp and roll back down. Sighing, he poured himself another shot and held the glass to his lips for a moment, lost in distant thoughts.

[ooc|Though I noticed the subforum for The Voodoo Rooms, I wasn't sure if that was the bar that Cassidy was supposed to own or not? If it was, feel free to move the thread.]

His floormates crowding in before him, Mark wondered if he was going to regret joining everyone later. God knows he could use some distractions and actually being sociable wouldn't hurt at all. His favourite distraction at the moment though was testing out what all he could do though and he wasn't sure if it was a good idea to test things out on drunk students...actually, that sounded like a fantastic idea. Mark paused at the door, grinning at the notion, and was shoved forward by the rest of his floormates wanting to get in for their drink.

Shuffling out of the way, Mark perused the growing crowd. There was enough people around. The question was what should he actually try and do? He knew some Latin outside of what he had used with Ceridan after all but he was fairly sure that it wouldn't be a good idea to just go spouting off. Did you even need the Latin? There was something he really should have asked before. There were just so many questions to shift through he wasn't sure when he was going to get to the end of them.

This wasn't being sociable, he reminded himself as he took a seat with a group of his fellow students. He was just going to have to ask later. Ask later and fight off the temptation to 'experiment' until then. That was going to be the actual hard part of this. Mark wasn't exatly attune with his inner patience. Quite the opposite infact.

Grey felt rather like stabbing someone with one of those little plastic drinks stirrers. Sure, she appreciated the alcoholic beverages, but hell, being dragged out of her room without warning on the premise that 'absolutely everyone' was coming out, well, she bloody didn't well smell everyone from her floor in the bar. Now people were trying to talk to her and yech, why? Like she gave a damn about Brian, the guy who taught Greek civilisations or whatever, or what had happened on Hollyoaks last night, and she really didn't care who had slept with who, though she could probably sniff and find out herself.

She had managed to get into the pub pretty easily and was already at the bar. She supposed that this was some sort of novelty thing, heading into town rather than to the SU bar, as with a name like the Voodoo Rooms, well wow!!! Must totally have weirdos in and be like, sooo coooool!! Gag me with a lemon slice, Grey shook her head. Yeah, there were weirdos here with ginger hair who had a habit of looking at your books and then shhoting you to progress the friendship.

Grey could also smell Mark, which made her want to order pork scratchings. Vile as thise things were, she was sure he would hate to see her eating dried, salted pigskin. She grinned evilly. Looks like she might have some fun after all...
