"How many assholes we got on this ship anyhow?"
|
Well now, after half a year, folks are trying to post again and those questions we were all ready to answer back in January are starting to pop up. I hope some of this you guys have figured out but I'm goig to post this up for everyone's benefit. The problem is - I had the answers to those questions seven months ago and I've sort of slept since then so this might not grab everything in the first go. First things first, this is intended to be a helpful how-to thread for returning members who are now looking at the site and saying WTF, what happened to my stuff, how does this place work now? 1) The first thing you've noticed is that the site LOOKS different. We've consolidated all the area forums into one big WORLD forum. We still have two regions, and we still have the same areas that we had before. Nothing has changed about where pokemon are found - we're still using the same pokemon encounter list and the same item encounter lists. The HM's, fossils, and megastones, are still found in the same places as well. We HAVE changed the landmark map to make it less complicated though, so be sure to check that out. All in all, when you make a new journey thread, make it in the world forum and keep tab on your location in each of your posts. 2) Homebases - this a shiny new thing to help streamline some of the systems like trees and eggs. You won't carry those around anymore but keep them at your house where, presumably, you go back and check on them between adventures. After each of your adventures you'll bring back your loot and put it in your PC and all the posts you made on your journey will count toward things that use counters - like trees and eggs. 3) NO MORE MODS. This is a huge change for legacy. Since the beginning we've been dependent on solo-journeys. You make a post and mod tells you what happens. Well, we all have lives now and don't have time to mod like we did in the good old days. Most of us barely have time to post. In the past couple of years we had introduced a system called co-op modding. This was where you and a buddy just RPd together and were trusted to keep things fair and follow the rules. Both characters were involved in the same thread and you simply took turns determining what happened. This worked out pretty well so we've taking this to the next stage and made this the primary means of gameplay. HOWEVER, if you are dead-set on playing a solo-journey, you can give it a try and ask nicely if someone would mod you. 4) There is no longer a limit to the number of characters you can make or the number of threads you can be active in. Have as many as you want - the more active you are, the more active other folks can be as well. 5) Thread creation - This has both completely new and somewhat similar. You still plot a direction using the landmark map, however, you will always start a new thread from Hillmoss. You must decide on a goal for that thread, and when that goal has been satisfied, end the thread. This means if your goal is to travel with your friend to Rose and challenge the gym, that's exactly what you do. At the conclusion of the challenge(s) you can close the thread and head home or choose a new goal and keep traveling. Note that ou do not have to travel back to hillmoss, you will simply boomarang back where you may then stash your loot and count your posts. You may not stash your loot until you decide to conclude the thread. Your next adventure will then start again at Hillmoss. It might help if you think of each adventure as your character taking a weekend trip away from the house. 6) Traveling - Guess what? We have a use for saddles! And cars and bikes and whatever. Walking will plod you through the map one landmark at a time, but a saddle or car or whatever it is will speed you through the map two or three landmarks at a time! 7) HM have more uses! This might annoy a few of you that never bothered to get the less popular HM's but if you look at the landmark map you'll see that it has symbols all over it now. Any landmark with a symbol in it cannot be ENTERED without the corresponding HM. Now hold up, don't cry on me yet. For those of you who only bothered with Fly and Teleport, those are still helpful but both work a bit differently. Please Read up here: http://legacypedia.pbworks.com/w/page/36249867/HM-Quests And just a side note: No non-pokemon character or item may use an HM (think super-powers or spaceships here). 8) What happened to all of your items? If it's a standard pokemon item, you still have it. If it's a banned pokemon item, PM me and I'll list what to do with it here. If it's a free-form earned or giftmas given unique item, PM me about it just to be sure and I'll list all cleared items here. Same goes for Team items you might still have. PM me about them and we'll go over them on a case by case basis. Some things might get placed on on hold until I'm ready to tackle them. What Happened to That Item! List 9) Character Leveling. This is another huge change to consolidate systems. Some of you will love it, and some of you will hate it. Here's the deal, your character will now determines the level of your pokemon. You level your character by doing things like challenging gyms, finding HMs, or celebrating an anniversary here on Legacy. There's a long list of things that will contribute to you character level so check it out. That number will determine the level of ALL of your pokemon. If your character is level 30, everything in your PC is level 30. Here's the downside. This system introduces de-evolution. Meaning an inexperience character cannot control a level 100 MewTwo. So if you trade your level 5 pal a level 70 charizard (because you're level 70, right?), that charizard is going to become a level 5 charmander. Likewise, if you had a level 70 charizard before 2015 but your character is only level 30, it will become a level 30 charmeleon. 10) LP, MP, other miscellaneous forms OCC credit. You can trade LP in for zenni at 1000 zenni per 10 LP. If you still have some other form of reward credit, PM me and we'll figure something out. 11) What about EXP and leveling up in battle? First, check out this page, it's mentioned there. http://legacypedia.pbworks.com/w/page/91112652/Character%20Leveling Second, any unused EXP your pokemon had prior to 2015 is gone. I know, that probably sucks but it was the easiest way to deal with it. 12) EV's, happiness, anger, battling - all those still work the same as before. You will need to learn how to use the battle and catch caluclators though if you never figured it out before. 13) Quests: Your RP buddy can handle all quests with the exception of legend quests right now. I know we decided something on these things but I can't remember at the moment. Let me round up Jance and Adobe and Frac to refresh my memory. We had something worked out that would let you guys mod these for yourselves but hold off for now while I dredge up our notes. 14) If you have a question about how something works, PM me, I'm not sure all the pages were completed on pedia. Just be patient with me, time is not something I have lots of now. |

Yeah, with all new things comes a few bugs. No mods means no trade confirms. Be sure to check out the new guide to trading and the Hart Station here: http://s10.zetaboards.com/Pokemon_Legacy_RPG/topic/415845/1/?x=0#post166650 If I missed anything significant, give me a shout. Oh yeah, we have a pedia page for it now: http://legacypedia.pbworks.com/w/page/98359301/Trading%20and%20Hart%20Station Edited by Maverick, Jul 25 2015, 06:31 AM.
