((OOC note: Teru's current Travel Route: Frozen Valley > Frozen Monument > Frozen Valley > Sinklands 1 (I believe I would have to make a new thread in the Sanded Grasslands then as that landmark of the sinklands is only in that area) > Soggy Hillside > Healthy Field > Mayriver ))

Morgan, being the energetic fox she was - had darted ahead of the group towards Mayriver where the 'nice forest' that Teru assumed her parents may have gone after being unceremoniously kicked out of their abode in Malral, however, the slick ice covering the area didn't make her energy last very long. Speed and ice did not particularly mix, and the dark-type found herself skidding and falling backwards onto her tail near the entrance. As she blinked and tried to understand why she'd just fallen, Teru, Laurent and Gaius caught up. "W-whoa...you're really energetic, Morgan. Are you okay? We had to hurry to catch up, but it looks like it's way too dangerous to go fast here. Just stick with us, okay? We should be through it and to the areas that lead to Mayriver soon if we're careful." Teru's sensible advice said, he paused and strained his eyes.

No matter how much he stared, the area seemed engulfed in a mysterious fog that made it impossible to see where you were going. They'd only spotted Morgan because she'd fallen near the start of the place, which was lucky for them. The last thing Teru wanted was for them to all get separated. "It looks so foggy here that having all of you out might be dangerous, too - I can only have one of you out, next to me. But I promise I'll let you all back out once we're out of the fog. Who'd prefer to stay out?" Gaius shook his head first: bugs and cold generally didn't mix anyway, and he already felt like he'd rather be in the ball. Meanwhile, Morgan seemed in though, before gesturing to Laurent. She believed that since he was so smart and a fire-type, he'd probably be the best to help the quiet human get through here, right?

She'd lead the way to that city as soon as the fog was gone. (Laurent himself seemed rather confused and unknowing of how to react regarding the constant, bold gestures to let him go instead of her.) With his friend's musings made, Teru recalled both Gaius and Morgan for now. Only he, Laurent and the icy valley of fog remained.

"Gosh - why is this place so covered in ice, anyway? I...I moved to this region only a year ago, and I did hear something really bad happened here, but my mom and dad said it 'wasn't a story a kid should hear' right away." Laurent paused, thinking about Teru's words. Given how introverted Teru was, it was probably a good idea to wait until he was mentally stronger before telling him much violence and horror had happened here, which was likely why his parents hadn't told him yet. This place...had been a battlefield in a war. He had heard stories from his mother, a well-learned Pokemon of events in the land, all about it. He couldn't verbally answer the boy, but gesture as if writing slowly. "Huh?" Teru paused, waiting to 'read' what the fox was 'writing' mid-air. This, as usual, took a while.

"So - people f-fought here? A-and there was almost an explosion from a big machine, but an ice dragon cooled it off?" He could only think of one ice dragon powerful enough to freeze a whole area like that. All unovians knew and believed that story. "A dragon who split itself into two, because of one brother seeking truth, and the other ideals. And one Pokemon was left over from the split, the 'shell' of what had been - that's Kyruem. Golly, the war must'a been super-bad that even a legendary back from home had to intervene. Laurent, is there some kind of shrine to the people here now?" Laurent nodded. "Uhm. I know my mom gave me these flowers in my bag for my brother's memory - but if something so bad happened here, I want to leave flowers for those people too. Okay, they'll probably be frozen over or something. But...even if I don't know much about what happened, I feel like since I'm passing through, I should show respect."

Ah, the human child was still such a kind-hearted lad. Laurent nodded in understanding at this, and so the two walked close together as they carefully and slowly went deeper into the fog, searching for the 'shrine'.

"How many assholes we got on this ship anyhow?"

The thick swirling mist had the unfortunate effect of messing with the imagination. Was that a shadow of a boulder that Teru just spotted, or the shell of a ruined tank, left half buried and locked in ice? And those naked branches of trees - icy limbs looking like skeletal hands beckoning to passerby. There was rubble, sure enough. Much of what the boy saw turned out to be nothing, but the tank really was a tank, the OME insignia barely visible beneath the frost. Some of the more jagged bits of ice were really scrap metal littering the valley floor.

Blundering blindly through the fog was unnerving. A deathly silence reigned and the valley that was once a battle field felt more like a grave. This was why claws scampering so suddenly over the ice, echoed loudly enough to make the boy jump. Another shadow caught Teru's eye. This one was small, soft around the edges and had distinctly round...ears? It was moving, and most certainly alive, and it was coming closer. A loud sniff accompanied the scratch of claws.

No matter how close to the boy Laurent stayed, Teru noticed that the thick swirling mists around them did not dissipate from the warmth of the fire-type of all: of course, this was to be expected in comparison to how powerful a legendary dragon's ice was. Teru didn't even think one of the 'Holy Mechanisms' in this region - what was it? Uhm - Dehforg or something like that? - would completely get rid of the fog, either. "Even with my warmer clothes on, it's super-chilly. I've never seen so much ice in one spot before..." The child's voice echoed over the seemingly empty plains in what seemed an eerie manner, yet his tone was nothing less of silent surprise and reverence. He had heard about Team Plasma abusing Kyruem's power and freezing over a whole town before: but it hadn't happened in his town, which was normally exempt from snow and such, so he'd never seen it before.

Laurent nodded silently - indeed, he could see how such a new thing would come as a surprise to the child. Traveling new places and learning and such meant that like now - there might be times you encounter strange changes of scenery. Or grim tales from times gone by. Though they were fairly new to this, it gladdened Laurent to be able to observe and elucidate mysteries with the boy, who sallied forth bravely as he could do. Though, the child did take second-glances at some of the things they passed. "A t-tank? Frozen in the ice? Or was that a boulder?" He stepped a little closer, but could barely see beneath the thick ice encapsulating it. From what little he saw, it was no boulder, though. It had some kind of symbol he'd never seen before. He'd ask what it meant of the Pokemon Center next town, so he decided to put it to memory.

Pausing to carefully ensure his hearing aid was on tight so as to not skid over the ice, he left the tank to sit as they continued on over what felt like exceedingly sad ground. He'd never seen war, but the utter silence and the shell of the tank - what little Laurent knew - impressed enough on the boy for him to know it must have been really awful for everyone involved. He couldn't help softly whispering aloud: "Golly - I sure am sorry if I'm disturbing any of you, brave Pokemon and people who didn't come out of this alive. But I promise not to stay too long if you want to keep sleeping. I'll just leave some flowers for you all and keep going." There might be some spirits here, so he felt he should at least explain to them why he was here. The sudden skittering of claws across ice made the lad jump a mile and distract him from such thoughts, however.

He couldn't see too well - but it was some kind of shadow coming closer. Oh, wait. He recognized that shadow - he might not know about a lot of Pokemon, but he recognized native ones to Unova well. "That's probably the shadow of a Cubchoo? They're usually not alone, they have their moms with them. Also, usually they don't come towards people, I wonder why this one is...?" Laurent hummed to himself, and gestured for the boy to wait. If the Pokemon came still closer, he would nod his head politely to the bear and attempt conversation.

"Hail, traveler of the ice. What brings you close to the young boy and myself? I assure you, we mean no ill-will. We merely wish to find the tall monument, and then keep heading out of here. But if you require aid of some kind, I shall listen. Myself and the child would be happy to aid you in exchange for safe guidance across the ice..." Hopefully, the ice-type meant well. If it showed signs of aggression, which Laurent hoped not - they might have to defend themselves despite only just arriving here.

Attempting polite conversation and extending an offer of help if needed to show he and Teru mean no ill-will, but is ready to use Ember to defend himself and his trainer if the Pokemon tries to harm Teru.
