Floyd's & Manix's Team, Eggs, & APL 59
Tracking Stuff

Two weeks had passed since Floyd came home from his mysterious meeting, and the two aliens, following through with earlier discussions, had made their union official - and promptly fled Genesis. Since that day, the ship and her captain had been constantly juggling ways of keeping her hidden from the humans. He had timed their official disappearance precisely with the attack on the Poketech Tower.

The instant the signal went out, the moment communications were down, and while the mysterious man was flooding the remaining airwaves, the ship had risen to the clouds, confounding any solid visual of itself, and activated a curious array of alien technology that masked itself from radar and other methods of detection.

Manix and Floyd had effectively dropped off the face of the Earth.

When communications came back up, the human's network signal was originating from the ocean. Floyd was probably one of the few that could have traced it - he wouldn't dare. Floyd made good on his deals and left the humans to fend for themselves. In spite of the signal held hostage, his superiors tried to contact him.

They couldn't.

He'd severed all contact as if he didn't exist. He intended to remain this way until Rayquaza and Groudon had been encountered. Manix though, was not as pleased with the arrangement.

"I'm bored!" the female howled through the door of the control room. "And I'm tired of being cooped up in the ship. Drak is too big for this place. I can't let him out."

"Well I can't let you out either." Floyd replied shortly. His attention never left the instrument panel and the readings there. He couldn't risk the humans finding them. Not now...

"Floyd."

The word dripped darkly from her tongue. The alien in question felt a shiver crawl up his spine. Manix had a knack for throwing every ounce of venom she had at her disposal into a particular tone that threatened ruin any nocturnal romps for a week. Slowly, Floyd turned around. The female had her arms crossed and was glaring at him from the doorway.

He hurried to explain himself. "If you leave, the humans might see you! We'll both be exposed and I won't be able to go after Rayquaza at all."

She tapped her foot, claws clicking on the grated floor. "If I'd known what you were up too, what it would mean to go after these things..."

"You did know. You knew they only promised to leave you be if I let this whole thing go. Going against them is pitting us against the entire Opaddekan military. You are not safe down there. And now, neither am I. We're in it this far, we might as well finish it now. If we hurry - if we're lucky - I can obtain these two and find our way home before they can catch up to us."

"I didn't realize I was going to be cooped up doing...nothing. And I didn't know you were going to blow buildings up!" she replied glumly, sitting down beside him.

"I didn't blow anything up. I just didn't do anything to stop it." He sighed, and grinned. "And you're not doing nothing."

She looked up and caught his mischievous leer. A distinct rose color blossomed over her cheeks and she looked away.

"You know what I mean. I can't help with this at all. There's nothing for me to do on this ship."

"What would do if you were down there?" He jabbed his thumb at the display where a foggy image of Slumber drifted.

"I dunno. There's got to be something interesting in those woods. All sorts of things Drak and Nema could play with..."

"It's cold down there." Floyd interrupted.

"What?"

"Cold. You'd freeze your tail off."

"Deepwood was cold." she argued, recalling that she had dealt with that reasonably well and was nearly naked at the time.

"Deepwood was cool, he corrected. "Slumber is frickin cold. Think ice and snow. You'd need a whole new wardrobe and a good set of boots made."

"Oh." She was smart enough to know that hiding meant no spur of the moment shopping trips to accommodate the sudden need for new attire. She also hated shoes. "So...what can I do?"

Floyd thought about it. She did need something to keep her busy. All of the things a normal mated couple did on their homeworld, didn't apply here. She didn't have a job, and now, neither did he. It would be a terrible idea to nest this far from home - trying to raise larvae in such conditions was crazy talk. There was very little by way of house keeping to be done - the ship took care of it. All there was to do was laze about, watch TV, or mess around in the bedroom.

"You know. There's a chance that Celebi will only be able to get us back to the other dimension...no where close to home. I expect we'll even be where the other Earth used to be. If I recall correctly, there were no inhabited planets anywhere nearby. We may have to travel several years before we find one. We'll need to make sure we're self sufficient. Can't risk running low on food or water. We're not the only ones that need to eat. The ship does too."

Manix frowned back, not knowing where he was going with this. "And?"

"And growing things in the hydroponics bay might not be enough to keep us going. You might try doing some research, see if you can find something that might let us travel years without seeing anyone. Work with Helsing. He's familiar with most of the human's tech. There might be something I've overlooked."

Well, it wasn't the most exciting suggestion, but at least it was something useful she could be doing. Floyd watched his mate nod sadly and sort of shrug in return. He leaned over, gave her little lick on the cheek and an encouraging smile. She glanced at the instrument panel and sighed.

"We're fine...for now." He grinned, and this time she grinned back. After all, until he was ready to make his move towards the green dragon, there was nothing better to do.
