Go for it, run towards it, dive in head first. Live life with no regrets!
The day was fine and warm, as summer stretched onward, reaching for fall in the distance. It was still a touch too damn hot, as far as Steely was concerned, but it was hard to notice when the wind was whipping past at high speeds. The giant striped cat loped over the grasslands, not even panting despite having a rider. Raijin slowed to a walk as they approached Escennia's gates, giving Steely a few minutes to straighten up and push her mane of blonde hair back where it had been whipped around.

Feeling any better? the legendary thundered, both inside and outside her head. Steely pushed her hair back behind her ears and wiggled in the saddle, making sure her legs hadn't fallen asleep.

"Not... particularly," Steely impulsively reached up to gently touch the stitches on her cheek, dropping her hand back down when she realized what she was doing. "I don't know that I'll feel any better anytime soon. I'm so damn tired," she sighed, looking around without seeing as they walked through the gleaming cobblestone streets of Escennia.

Steely was still wondering if it was a good idea to get out and away from BT for a while, or if she would do better to stay home. Given the lack of sleep, she would have liked to assume it was the latter, but she was starting to feel... almost claustrophobic. Sure, she had plenty of trainer-things to do out in the world, but right now none of it seemed to matter.

(I miss Alex,) she thought abruptly, sagging as the heavy, cold feeling seemed to form and drag through her chest and down to her belly. She didn't have much time to wallow in it, since Raijin abruptly stopped and meowed as much as a giant sabertoothed tiger can meow. Looking up, she followed where he was looking, and was pleasantly surprised to see the Sunflare.

Floyd! Raijin yowled, launching off into a run again. Steely laughed a little and pulled back on his saddle to get him to slow down a little, and do sane laps around the buildings under the space ship. For a moment, Steely was at a loss as to how to get the alien's attention, but she remembered something... he had a poketech too, which meant he also had some kind of phone. She dug around in her pockets for her iShades, flipping them on once found and dialing Floyd. Hopefully someone picked up.

"How many assholes we got on this ship anyhow?"

They were strolling through the park, enjoying the sights, when his gauntlet began bleeping at him. For a moment, he was just as startled as the girl beside him. No one ever called him, unless it was someone from the government. Even then, they usually only called to yell at him. Giving Manix a confused look, he ticked a key on the device and barked into the mic.

Floyd here.

The conversation that followed was brief and left him feeling awkward and slightly amused. He laughed, sounding at a loss for words. He recalled the last time he had spoken with the blonde and where that adventure had led too [kicks self in the ass for not posting there sorry, well finish. Promise.] He agreed to meet her beneath the Sunflare but did not mention that he was bringing company. He wanted that much to be a surprise.

Well? the girl prompted, Whats so funny? Who was it? She stopped, realizing how rude it was to be prying into someone elses business.

Floyd didnt seem to mind. It was my old friend Steely. She was my second in command for awhile. I guess she saw the Sunflare and decided to drop in on me. Want to go meet her? Shes really nice. The last time they had met up, he had been full of concern for the girl he knew existed, couldnt find, and knew nothing about. His head had been bogged down with dark thoughts and concerns that seemed far away now. For the first time, he realized, he was living for the moment, and not in dread of the future or in fear of the past.

You said Escennia humans werenot nice. she answered skeptically, head hung low and tail drooping.

Escennia humans are rude. Steely is a Hillmoss human thats a completely different town full of completely different people. She runs a ranch down there and gives trainers and their pokemon a place to stay. They like growing things too, I think. I hear they have a green house full of berry plants he paused, and remembered the girls sudden liking to her tyrantrums newly evolved size and riding potential. He knew just the thing to work her courage up to meet someone new. They ride their pokemon too, just like you do.

She perked up, her tail swished with sudden interest, and he knew hed gotten his way.

The pair walked back to the ship. It hung over an empty parking lot where it wouldnt annoy the residents more than it had to. As they neared, Floyd noticed that he was taking the lead, and the female, feeling more and more nervous, was starting to hang back. He laughed to himself and began looking for his old friend. He wasnt dressed as he had been during their last encounter. He was dressed relatively normal. A pair of worn jeans and an old Scorpians T-shirt. The only reminder than he hadnt really changed was that he still wore the wrist blade set that matched his PC gauntlet, and of course, his old 45 was strapped to his thigh as always. Manix was wrapped in her trench coat, in spite of the warmth of the day all the better to hide in.

I wish Apoc was here. she muttered miserably, all the while glancing in all directions for this unknown person they were to be ambushed by.

3 :lp lol it's fine no rush, I 'm just really excited about that story. i'm morbid!

Steely was finally smiling and shaking a little with mostly-silent laughter when she hung up with Floyd. She flipped her shades off and put them back into her pocket, patting her giant cat on the shoulder when she was done. "He's actually not in the ship, buddy," Steely said to Raijin, who sagged a little, "but he's on his way."

Yay! Raijin purred, hopping into the parking lot he'd been doing laps around. Steely could feel the legendary's joy in her own heart, and laughed aloud as the big cat jumped around like an orange and black striped spring.

"You're awfully happy to see him," Steely said through her laughter, which got the cat to stop so she could catch her breath.

I like all of your friends, same as you do, the legend of thunder twisted his head around to look at Steely, and we don't get to see Floyd very often.

"Yeah... that's fair," Steely patted her mount's neck. It was true, she didn't see Floyd as often as she would have liked. (Even though that was because I wasn't sure whether or not to believe those men in black. Still not sure what to think about all that...) she shook her head. Floyd was a good guy, she believed that. So, she knew she'd never see those government stiffs again.

Raijin trotted around the lot while they waited, unable to stay still. The predator spotted Floyd first, by the iridescent glint of orange scales. Steely barely had a chance to turn and see what had gotten the cat's attention before he was off like a speeding bullet, racing right towards the two aliens. Steely had to hunker down to keep from getting tossed off; terrible for seeing, but better for holding on. Raijin was nearly to them when he realized there were two toothy orange aliens, and he skidded to a hard stop a few feet away, his ears sticking straight up in surprise.

Steely was able to straighten up, grinning and halfway to saying something when she spotted Manix, and stopped cold, her eyes getting big. Realizing she was being rude, she shook her head, smiling again once she pushed through her surprise. She rushed to unbuckle herself from the saddle and slide down, crossing the safe distance Raijin had put between them. She still had to lean back a little to look up at the new alien. She was pretty similar to Floyd in the broad scale of things; pointy and orange. Female, if Steely had to guess, though she momentarily got hung up on wondering why toothy aliens... needed a chest built like that. But she was speckly iridescent orange, which Steely admired for a moment, along with her awesome coat. Steely could definitely appreciate an awesome long coat.

"Howdy, folks," she reached up with her left hand, tipping her cap at them, and extended her right hand towards Manix. "It's nice to meet you, I'm..." she hesitated oddly, looking conflicted, "Steely."

(Good gravy let's not scare her immediately.)

(...fine, fine.)

Steely herself was looking a little worse for wear from the last time Floyd had seen her. Aside from the stitches stretching from the top of her cheekbone to the bottom of her jaw, holding the slash closed while it healed, she looked like she hadn't slept in a while.

They neared the parking lot, Floyd in the lead and grinning from ear to ear. He saw the big cat in plenty of time to brace himself, but Manix was frozen in place. It wasnt his size that frightened her Sordia was filled with monsters and giants it was the fact that this great yellow thing with dirk teeth was charging them, and instinct told her to flee. A quick glance to the left, then to the right; there was nowhere to run, nowhere to hide; she trembled in place and at the last moment threw herself on the pavement and curled into a knot.

After a moment, when nothing had happened, Floyds laughter broke through to her. She peeked up at him and spied the General standing alongside the beast and its rider. Manix slowly climbed to her feet, still shaking like a leaf. The woman seemed as fearless as her steed and in complete control sharply contrasting with Manixs own timid failings. Crimson brushed her cheeks as she realized how silly she must look.

The human spoke, and Manix tried the new sound, hissing the syllables so softly that most of the meaning was lost. She shook her head and tried to speak, sensing a reply was expected of her. The human reached for her, and she stepped back cautiously, words sticking in her throat, with a warning growl rumbling from her chest. Instinct always overruled good common sense.

Easy, its only a hand shake. Didnt Apocryphus tell you about this greeting? Floyd asked, using English in spite of her lack of mastery of the language. The more she was forced to use the alien words, the more quickly she would learn.

The girl glanced between the human and her host. Reluctantly, she relaxed and accepted the hand shake albeit, letting go quickly.

Tossing her head back and trying to appear more confident than she felt, she said, I Manix. Her deep voice clicked and was clearly not the same harsh tone of Floyds, but something more fluid and whispering, yet notably deeper than the typical human female voice. What else was she supposed to say? Nice furrr munsterrr? She pointed to the thing and shrugged.

Floyd spared her from further conversation by explaining. I found her over in Deepwood. Shed hooked up with an old hypno. It kept her out of trouble for the most part. He smiled back at her but received a hateful look in return.

Manix didnt know what to think of this new person, or the great big furry thing which Floyd was now reverently bowing to in much the same manner that he bowed to the bloated whale he kept aboard the ship. She wondered what sort of god the half-mad soldier thought he was looking at this time. She watched him rise and then carefully shift his attention to the human with the long blonde fur sprouting from the top of her knobby head.

Pardon my saying so, Floyd spoke up with a tilt of his head, But it looks like you have a few stories to tell too. He flicked a hand in the general direction of her stitches and frowned. Everything ok? What brings you this way anyhow?

Neither Steely nor Raijin had meant to scare the new alien, so Steely felt bad until she peeled herself up off the concrete, but didn't dwell on it too long. She also wasn't expecting to be growled at, but held her ground, smiling nervously with her hand still up. Floyd had growled plenty of times before, that Steely could remember the way it rumbled in her ears, but her friend had never growled at her before. Though, this new Scavian wasn't her friend... at least not yet.

"Manix," Steely repeated for her own benefit, and to make sure she was saying it right. She continued, and Steely couldn't help but to have a deer in the headlights look for a few seconds. Suddenly she realized how much she took Floyd's grasp of the language for granted. It took a few seconds for her to piece together what she was saying. "Furrr... oh! Fur monster!"

...fur monster?

Steely didn't look at him, but groped in the air until she could put her hand on his face to hide his incredulous look. He'd been called a lot of things, but fur monster was never one of them. Fortunately, he didn't get time to dwell on it. The big cat bowed back at Floyd, happily stalking over and rubbing his face and cheeks on the alien's bony skull, shedding a few loose hairs. It is good to see you, Floyd.

The legend let the trainers turn their attention to each other; the big cat looked back at Manix curiously, his original surprise and caution melted by the way she had acted when they had skidded onto the scene. Now, he tilted his head a little and took a few steps towards her, stretching his neck out to sniff.

"Ah..." she reached up when he pointed out the stitches, touching them until she could hear the ghost of Raziel's voice telling her not to touch them. She crammed her hands in her pockets to try and remember to stop doing that. Out of all the people she knew, she felt most inclined to tell Floyd what she remembered happening. Granted, she trusted everyone in BT with her life... but most of them thought she was a little off tilt. Which was a reasonable thought, but this was even beyond their normal level of weirdness. For some reason, she thought Floyd would at least have the most useful thoughts about it. Not that she'd even had a chance to discuss it with anyone else; she'd been avoiding everyone, if the situation had arisen.

"This is gonna sound nutty... but I was having a nightmare," she took a deep breath and squeezed her eyes shut for a moment, struggling to not think about it. "And... I got cut in my dream. It woke me up, and I had this," she looked back up at Floyd, somehow looking more tired then she did a few minutes ago. "I, uh, haven't really been sleeping well since."

Floyd? Floyd! Manix took a step back and cast a worried look in his direction as the cat loomed closer. Cy hana blakn cyk ghugh kre hys!

Floyd momentarily turned back to gape at the girl cowering under the gaze of the huge feline. He sighed heavily and shook his head.

First, he isnt going to eat you. Hes trying to see if youre friendly. And hes not a fur monster. Hes a cat lana. And if you ask me, I think its the incarnation of a felus-krash flekn, so dont piss him off. He said this while picking the cat hair out of his teeth.

The girl blanched and made a high pitched squeak. Floyds pep talk only scared her more. Now she not only had to worry about the things big teeth, she had to worry about a lightning demon dolling out punishment on behalf of the sky god. She seriously felt like vomiting; her change in color was akin to a chameleon - now she looked a little on the green side.

Returning his attention to Steely, he listened intently to her story and frowned deeply. He had heard of such things happening but they were usually told in hushed whispers around the hearth. They were terrible things that involved the Otherwold and unsettled him a great deal. He could handle the real - the physical - but the paranormal was a whole other ball game.

Sounds like a He looked around to see that Manix was occupied. She was tentatively holding a hand out for Raijin to sniff. A Wes-flekn. he whispered close to her ear. It was tabboo to even mention their name. Your tongue might call it a Dream demon, but that would get confused with an Incubus. These things are nothing of the sort.

The conversation was making him uneasy and so was the open, unprotected local. He looked up at his ship and back again to Steely. Maybe we should go somewhere more comfortable? I can make us all a good stiff drink.

Manix caught these words as keenly as if she had actually been paying attention. I go see Ehpahk? It was the first happy expression she's given since they'd showed up.

Raijin stopped as suddenly as he had started, jerking his head up and trying to make sense of the noises Manix suddenly made. Steely looked between the two aliens, absorbing the new information. Lana was cat? And she swear she remembered Floyd mentioning that Groudon, Kyogre, and Rayquaza were like deities on his homeworld. Apparently he thought the same of Raijin. Steely felt a little bad for Manix, since she had turned green since Floyd had explained. Raijin just looked lost and confused. On one hand, he liked having his legendary might respected... but on the other, he didn't want anyone to be afraid of him. Steely shook her head and left them to it, telling her story.

Raijin tentatively stretched his head out, and brushed his soft mane against her hand, purring like a motor. He looked happy, though if she took his expression happy depended on if she knew what giant toothy cats looked like when they were mad. But, he was going to rub all over her hand, if she allowed him to. It was part of being friends with a cat.

Steely tilted her head at him when he started, glancing over at Manix before continuing. She had no idea what a Wes-flekn was, but the way Floyd whispered it made her spine crawl a little. Truth to be told, she had a bit of an idea what did it... but it seemed impossible. A dream demon, though...

Her eyes flicked up to Floyd's ship, by now fairly familiar, then back to him. She visibly got a little more life to her when he mentioned a drink. "By Arceus, I could use some liquor right now..." she mumbled, slouching and looking aside. She straightened when Manix spoke, smiling a little when she finally looked something other then afraid or annoyed. No idea what "Ehpahk" was, but likely she was going to find out.

Its settled then! Floyd roared. Well drinkand you can go see the old duffer. This last was meant for Manix who, for one brief moment, forgot she was touching the big scary cat. Floyd tapped a few keys on his computer, and the whole lot of them reappeared on the transporter pad inside the ships lab.

Steely had been here before so Floyd spared her the tour. When youve seen one table full of things in jars and counters full of mysterious equipment, youve seen them all. He led the way through the lab, through the sliding glass door, passed the big tank with - well, there was shadowy blob at the bottom, one floor below and to the quarter circle slab of marble cabinetry lined with neat little bar stools below, and decorated with a variety of drinking glasses above. Beyond this was the kitchen, and Floyd walked up to a relatively normal looking refrigerator and removed a bucket of ice.

Manix scampered passed them all after tiptoeing by the massive aquarium. She bolted into the living room and dived, head first, over the couch, and tumbled over the other side. She skidded to a halt in the floor in front of an old recliner where a rather grouchy looking hypno sat in a pile of forest green robes. He was writing in a large black book that was spread over his lap.

Have a nice tour of the city? he muttered without looking up. The psychic had spoken aloud, in perfect English, rather than broadcasting like a fleshy radio station.

Yes! Floyd took me to grrreen hoss and we buy pots! she replied excitedly.

I think you did more than that. The disturbingly human-like creature looked up and bobbed his long snout in the blondes direction. Raijin received a quirk from his bushy eyebrows.

Ohthem. Ooman izSsstlee and lana isCat. She hung her head a little sheepishly. Lana hab soft furrr. Her tail flicked as she looked back over her shoulder at Raijin. She was smiling tentatively at the big pokemon.

And what does Floyd think of them? the hypo prompted, trying to pry the story out of her in English was like pulling teeth.

Dey frrrends ob Floyd. He know, he bring dem. She shrugged, hesitated, then continued. Floyd tink lana iz flekn.

Apocryphus frowned, not knowing the Scavian word any more than she had known cat only a few minutes earlier. He looked up at Floyd to find him pulling a bottle of golden liquid from a cabinet and arranging low ball glasses over the counter top. He plopped ice in them and began to splash the liquor in.

Catching the pokemons stare, Flekn. he replied. It means demon, or maybe ifrit is a better comparison. There are good flekn and bad flekn and they each serve one of the minor gods. Lightning is an aspect of the sky, so Felus-krushflekn is a servant of Asilloydsegk. On Sordia he takes the form of a He stopped and looked up from his task at Steely. You dont really have many animals that compare to Sordian species. This one is something like a flying invertebrate. Think of a flying jelly fish that can shoot electrified darts from its tentacles.

Floyd pushed a glass towards Steely and picked up one for himself. The third glass he offered to Raijin, not sure whether the cat would want it on the ground, on the counter, or at all.

Like pokemon, gods and demons on Sordia are elementals. Felus-krushflekn, he is impartial, neither good or bad. He deals out punishment on behalf of Asilloydsegk. Asilloydsegk is one of three sons to Kresahsegk, the Origin. His purpose is to mediate land and water. He sends his servants to punish those who threaten the balance, be it Scavian, Primordian, or some other god.

Manix crawled back to the couch, flopping back in it and throwing her chin over the back to listen.

Youre uhnightmare. Maybe Apocryphus could help. Manix tells me he can control the dreams of others, or look into them or something like that." Floyd took a seat perched atop one of the bar-stools and then promptly tossed back the whiskey.

The hypno looked up from his book and frowned, not pleased to be volunteered. Perhaps. he sighed, and then added quickly, If your friend wishes to talk about it.

Steely shook her head against the sudden feeling of teleportation, relaxing at the sight of the familiar-enough alien spaceship. She sighed a little as she followed, still wistfully looking at all his cool stuff everywhere, even though she'd seen it all before. When they passed the tank, Steely looked into it with wonder, like she always did, but stopped suddenly when she saw the indistinct shadow further down. For no reason, she felt her hackles rise, and a distinctly yellow color flashed through her eyes. She pushed it away, ignoring the growling she felt in her chest for a moment, and hurried after Floyd.

The legendary cat kept pace with Floyd, only glancing back when he felt Steely grumble before running to catch up. He glanced over what he could see of the tank, not understanding what had set her off like it did. Steely patted the big cat's side, bright blue eyed again, and they continued after their pointy host. Raijin was far more interested in what Manix was doing, and trotted over to stand by the couch, looking over it and to Manix and Apocryphus. The big cat smiled back the best he could, inadvertently showing off all of his sharp pointy teeth.

Steely let him go, knowing he was fairly harmless, and hauled herself up onto a chair to watch Floyd be a bartender. His explanation of what Raijin's Scavian equivalent captured her interest more then the liquor did, and she smiled when he mentioned the lack of similar species. "Well, I didn't make 'em. To be honest, I think I can live without flying jellyfish, though," she reached for her glass when it was offered, but didn't drink yet. Her cat had come over to see, and was offered a drink of his own. He'd definitely seen Steely drink before, but had never shown an interest, and she had never offered. It had never occurred to her. It was easier for him to get at it on the counter, but he sniffed it tentatively instead, trying to decide why it smelled so different.

"Oh huh, so like Rayquaza, Groudon, and Kyogre. I think I remember you mentioning something like that at some point." It had gotten to that point with Floyd where she'd known him so long that she couldn't remember what he had actually told her, or what she had heard secondhand from her time in the OME, or from one of her friends who was also friends with Floyd. and I can never remember what she's been told vs what I personally know about Floyd, blugh

She glanced back towards the fish tank again, not realizing she was doing it until she sat up a little further to try and see the dark shape again. When she realized it, she plopped her ass back onto the stool and squeezed her eyes shut.

"Ah..." she twisted around to look at Apoc, smiling a little tentatively. "...ah fuck it. I'm not actually telling you the whole truth here," she looked down at her drink, and followed Floyd's lead by knocking the entire thing back in one gulp.

"I think I actually know what did it... I saw it in my dream before I woke up," she coughed softly to clear her throat as it burned a little, tapping her chest with a fist while her other hand set the glass down. "But it... shouldn't be possible," she looked at Floyd now, "I think it was Darkrai. But it hasn't been seen in Opaddeka since... well, you know, he attacked all those years ago. And why me? I wasn't the only one who fought 'em."

She had debated beating around the bush about it, but there was really no point. She had seen Darkrai; he had grabbed her face before she had woken up. And Raziel had mentioned that he couldn't see what she was dreaming when it had happened... if a dark type had gotten into her head and given her a nightmare, that would make sense. The things that didn't make sense were the how and the why.

A spray of whiskey shot out of the aliens teeth. He started choking. Manix sat up and gaped.

Youre shittin me! He coughed again to clear his throat and swiped the snot from his muzzle. He had been right then. It really is theWesfskflekn. he snarled, head spinning.

Obviously, Darkrai had a Scavian equivalent as well and if the final syllables were of any indication, it was also classified as a demon. Now it was the Generals turn to look a little green and he laid his chin down on the cold stone and tried to breath. He remembered when he saw the devil the first time same as Steely and back then he didnt know what he was looking at. Now he did and he had seen it again recently too.

It cant be a coincidence. he finally said, sounding a little horse.

Manix was sitting on the couch still, only now she was trembling. The name, now spoken loud enough so she could hear, struck a chord. This was the thing parents told larvae about to keep them in their pools at night. Her parents never told her the story they werent much for fairy tales. No, it had been her older sister, a pupa at the time and free to come and go as she pleased. The mean spirited brat, an only child until Manix came along, spent the majority of their childhood finding ways to torment her. The memory brought a growl to the girls throat but couldnt still her tremors.

Floyd noticed the effect the name had on his new friend and promptly clamped his jaw shut, but not for long. I know someone has been looking for the demon, and that the thing which spreads nightmares like the plague has been summoned. Ive been avoiding this thing. Its evil, and an abomination. Its touch contaminates, infects, and festers until it consumes.

He looked sharply at Steely. Legend has it, that once there was only one Wesflekn. He brought dreams of all sorts and used his own judgment to determine who was deserving of good and who bad. He brought visions and omens alike. In the beginning, he took this role in the scheme of the universe seriously, but then as time passed, he saw how much more powerful he was than the other lesser gods. The lesser gods kept one another in check, where as he governed himself. He began to abuse his power. His reach stretched beyond the world of dreams and seeped into the waking world.

Finally, Kresahsegk was obliged to intervene. The deity was split, and one lesser god became two demons. Wesfskflekn, the Nightmare, and Weslshkflekn, the Sweet Dream. They are rogues though, and answer to no one, save the Origin who seldom stirs from sleep.

So long as they are both in power, neither can alter the waking world. They give the dreamer visions and omens to either trick or goad the sleeper into acting, but they cant act themselves. Without one, the other will grow in strength until he can drive mortals mad.

Here he stopped and was dead pan serious, he leaned close to the blonde woman so that she might better understand. If what you are saying is true, then it will only get worse until someone finds and releases Weslshkflekn.

He didnt add that even hanging around her was like to draw attention to others and he feared as much for himself as he did the girl on the couch.

Pkaymon, not gods. Manix interrupted with a snap. She didnt want to believe that what he said was true. It was easier to talk about such things on the home world where everything was as it should be, but what Floyd suggested, said that the world could be thrown out of balance and that the otherworld could surface and rear its ugly head. She hated the notion, and refused more with each breath to believe it. She looked at Raijin. Lana-cat iz nice. Lana-cat not god. Floyd izfshk.

Floyd rose with a snarl. The female shrank back. He checked himself, and settled back onto the stool with a huff. Perhaps. He conceded, his hand reaching for the golden glob of metal about his neck. Believe what you will, but I know better now. He looked toward the tank.

The shadow had risen slightly, covertly observing the conversation without being involved.

Steely hit the ground, not wanting to get covered in alien-infused whiskey. She quickly sat back up to make sure Floyd was ok, uselessly holding her hands up until he spoke again. There was that name again, now she at least had a little more understanding of it. Darkrai definitely qualified as a demon in her mind. Floyd thunked his bony snout on the table, and she deflated and dropped her arms back to her sides. Tentatively, she took a seat again, letting Floyd recover even though she was terribly curious. At this point, even an alien explanation would be good, as it would give her some kind of... direction, or something. More of a thought then she currently had, if nothing else.

Raijin's attention had been taken away from tentatively sniffing the drink, to everyone else in the room. He looked from Floyd's choking, to Manix's growling, to Steely looking at least a little more awake then she had before but a little more scared too. The cat huffed, vaguely listening but aware there was no current threat to anyone. He could beat the crap out of Darkrai if it was here, and talking about it only seemed to distress everyone. He left them to it, thinking that they'd figure it out at some point and talk about something else. He stuck his snout back into his drink, and took a tentative lick. The taste made him jerk back and shake his head.

Steely leaned in when Floyd spoke, a little eager and a little afraid. "Why would anyone be stupid enough to... were they not paying attention when Darkrai attacked?" she grumbled, more to herself then to Floyd. Her arms rested on the counter and she leaned on them as he told the story, and her Opaddekan mind put their world's context on it. Darkrai and... Cresselia (yeah, that was it). Steely had no idea if they had ever been one thing, but the split pair of demons on either side of the power scale sounded exactly like the lunar duo of legendaries.

She leaned away just a little when Floyd leaned in close, holding onto the bar as what he said sunk in. She actually started laughing. Maniacally, up until Manix spoke up and she stopped as abruptly as she started. Raijin wasn't sure whether to be angry that Manix was saying he wasn't a god, or to just accept it. To him, Ho-Oh and Arceus were still above even him, so it wasn't hard to just accept it. Out of the corner of his eye, he saw Steely grinning at him.

"He aint nice all the time... but iunno," she looked back at Floyd, watching him and the chunk of gold around his neck. She was about to ask what a 'fsh'k' was, but she followed where he was looking to the indistinct dark blue blob in the tank. Again, it made her hackles rise, and she hunched her shoulders and grumbled in its general direction, eyes flickering primal yellow again until she came back to herself and looked in the opposite direction.

"Floyd," she stated, an earth-shaking growling edge faintly in her voice. Based on the growling in the back of her mind from Tellus, who was hundreds of miles away in Hillmoss, she already had a pretty good idea of the answer to her question, but she wanted to ask anyway. "What is that?" she gestured towards the pool with her head, pointedly not looking at it.

Floyd was not pleasant to be around when he got worked in a zealous rage. He tossed his head, took a breath, and tried to calm down. Talk of the otherworld left him jittery, he was glad that his friend was drawing his attention to the tank. He began with a simple explanation.

I have recently learned that all Legends on Earth are gods. I was told by Kyogre himself. He began fervently.

Manix scoffed, still not believing him.

He told me that all Earth gods have a mirror image on all planets where sentient life thrives and needs direction, Sordia included. Floyd went on, ignoring her completely. What is in that tank, is a piece of Asilshehsegk, the god of the water. He smiled gently at the blonde woman. The Scavian god. Joy bubbled out of every word. He truly believed everything hed just said, because it had given him direction and meaning hed been lacking for years.

Shedding some of his former nervous posture, he hopped off the stool and walked over to the tank, placing his hand on the glass. The shadow drifted up slowly and took the shape of a young whale. Deep blue and crisscrossed with crimson lines that seemed to pulse with light, the little deity drifted above the aliens head, purposely positioning itself above its minion. A deep murmur resonated through the glass and could be felt in the floor and bulkheads.

Manix shrank back behind the couch. Kyogre didnt like her, and she didnt like it. Better to not be seen.

The little Kyogre was barely a tenth of its parents size and still fit comfortably inside the tank. Soft brown eyes looked thoughtfully at the occupants it had been eavesdropping on. Steely captured its attention. Carelessly, it flicked its tail and swished away from Floyd and closer to her.

Floyd looked between the pair of them. Huh. Theres something about you thats making him curious.

The whale did a lot more listening than speaking, and having shown himself to the curious stranger didnt changed this. He hummed from behind the glass and waited for the scene to develop further.

Manix slunk back over to Apocryphus who had been quietly listening and counting himself lucky that his assistance seemed to have been forgotten. He hated bad dreams, they tasted terrible and they gave him heartburn.

You really should just let Floyd and his beliefs alone. He isnt trying to convert you, just stating what makes him tick. The old man scolded the girl quietly.

She sighed and leaned against his chair, glad to be excluded from the conversation. I just wish he wouldnt go on about it all the time. she replied in a whisper.

He wouldnt if you didnt argue with him. Youre not going to change his mind. From what Helsing has told me, his beliefs werent so different from yours when he came here. Only when he found Kyogre did he start believing again. Its still new to him, and hes excited. Hell calm down if you stop riling him up.

Maybe. She pouted, but what really bothered wasnt that Floyd talked about Kyogre and Asilshehsegk all the time, it was that he believed in something and knew, without a shadow of a doubt, that they were real. She didnt know what to believe in, and his ravings only reminded her of how empty she felt when she thought about it.

Floyd considered the Kyogre offspring for another moment before returning to the bar and pouring himself another drink. He poured a second glass and started toward the lift. Im going to take up this to him, be right back. he called and vanished behind the sliding door.

For the moment, talk of the demon had been dropped, and no one seemed sorry.

Steely was listening, head tilted up from staring at the counter just enough that she could see Floyd. Part of her was happy to see Floyd this happy. Happy that he found something from 'home' here on the human world. As far as religious beliefs went... she sort of didn't have any. She believed the regular 'Arceus made the world' blah blah, but it was easy to become jaded when she controlled six pokemon who could be considered as gods. Her friend owning a tiny baby Arceus didn't help that sentiment either.

Floyd moved over to the tank, and Steely hesitated for a few seconds before sliding off of the stool and following. The sight of the whale brought the same conflicted feelings, but a firm grasp on exactly what was going on in her own head. Groudon - her Groudon, the normally gentle Tellus - absolutely did not like the sight of the other avatar. Steely knew that the two pokemon didn't exactly get along in the legends, but she wasn't aware it was this bad. Without realizing it, she'd walked over to the tank where the little Kyogre was looking at her thoughtfully, and put her hand up on the glass gently. Floyd would likely just see the blonde staring at the whale with a surprised sort of wonder, if he didn't notice her bright electric blue eyes had inexplicably turned yellow. There was a weird, bubbling hot feeling in her chest, and she suddenly felt acutely aware of the ship's floor under her feet, part of her wondering if it could be shattered like the earth. Steely finally forced the whole affair to a full stop when she realized she was getting the urge to punch through the glass and sock the whale in the nose.

(Tellus, woah woah. Calm down girl, you don't need to be fighting this guy. He hasn't done anything to you, and he's just a baby. Knock it off,) Steely scolded, hoping that her thoughts and feelings went through as clearly as the legendary's did. To her relief, she felt the Groudon flinch at the reproach and withdraw. Steely sucked in a breath of air like she hadn't been breathing, and put her face in her hands, dimly aware of Floyd saying something in the background. She waved a hand to make sure he knew she had heard him, and looked up at the whale, hopefully before he swam off to meet Floyd at the top of the tank.

"Sorry," Steely put her hand back on the glass, "you're kind of the last thing I was expecting to ever see, and I... guess it took us off guard." She smiled at the whale, eyes bright and electric blue again, "Nice to meet you."

She backed away when the legend swam off to meet Floyd, feeling oddly cold now that the heat of the land god had left her. Her coat was pulled tighter as she walked back over to Raijin, who was curiously listening to Manix and Apocryphus.

Floyd does seem a little happier then I remember him, he interjected innocently, padding over to join the conversation. Steely joined him, resting a hand on his striped side, feeling a little better as his electricity crackled through her fingers.

"Um..." Steely looked at Manix, smiling a little shyly. She really wanted to get to know the new alien, because likely she didn't know anybody here besides Floyd and her own pokemon, but she still seemed to be learning English, so communication was going to be... well, interesting. And despite how well she got along with all of her friends... she still felt awkward around new people, alien or not. "What's a... fs- fsh-... whatever you called him just now," she asked, curious as to what would have gotten Floyd to react the way he did.

The whale remained silent, his curiosity peaked. He could feel something decidedly familiar in the human and for a moment it was intensified, and he surprised himself to realize he was...anxious. He had never felt this way before, not even a little, and then he realized this was being triggered by another one of those memories passed on through his blood.

He was young, but he wasn't stupid. He put two and two together and knew that this woman, like his minion, held an avatar not unlike himself - one his blood line had history with. A rivalry, he decided. He knew that he would have to explore those memories further to discover what it was all about. Whatever it was, the woman knew, and thing that had bonded with her so closely knew. In any case, the human held her temper in check, rather than act recklessly. This, he approved of. They were not enemies - not yet.

Sensing Floyd now hovering at the top of pool, he cast one last glance at Steely before swimming upwards. The encounter left him wondering if his relationship with the orange thing would be as strong.

Manix was confused, a usual scene when around her. She had no idea how to translate the word if Floyd couldn't give her the English equivalent. Apoc could only understand her meaning when she was asleep and he could see into her head. So far, the insult hadn't came up and she doubted Floyd would tell her just now.

"I call Floyd...uh...I call him..." Her hands flailed trying to will the definition out of the air. "I not know word yet. I call Floyd... not right in head." Her own head drooped and she blushed. "Srrry, wuz rude. Iz Floyd's ship."

A silence fell on the group and clearly Manix was uncomfortable. She wanted to fill the gap but only had broken English to do so. "What Ssst'lee do? Ssst'lee trrrainerrr?"

Steely waited, fingers flexing to scratch at Raijin's coat while Manix tried to think of a way to explain it. She smiled sheepishly when Manix said she didn't know the word, and would have rushed to apologize for asking if Manix hadn't continued. "So..." she started, thinking for an English word to help Manix fill the gap in her language understanding. "Crazy might be a close word. It's a... general 'not right in the head' sort of word," she waved her hand. Hopefully that helped.

Manix started talking again and Steely perked up from where she was stroking Raijin's side in the silence. The big cat looked proud when Steely started talking. "Yeah, I'm a trainer. Traveling all around everywhere. I've been doing this for a long time," here, she grinned and rubbed her head awkwardly, "so I don't really get out as much these days as I used to."

We run a lot, though! Raijin chimed in, leaning down to rub his face against Steely's head. She ruffled his short white mane, and then hugged his head.

"Yes, we do. I'm also the leader of a team down south, so I keep an eye on all that too," Steely gave her cat one last pat on the head. He layed down and stretched out next to her, looking content. Steely glanced at Apoc, then back at Manix, "What about you? You learning to be a trainer too?"
