Pidgey

summary After a dip in the lagoon, he was more than ready to go. He could tell his pokemon benefited from their temporary break with the way they bounced down the path. Hemlock did her best to hop in the dusty trail Hyacinth wound with her tail, hopping along to keep from getting left behind. The stench clung to their bodies like a yellow to a pencil. Hemlock was especially odorous, having consumed a half-eaten berry that had been abandoned at the base of a tree on their journey. It was interesting, noticing these changes in his pokemon. Hemlock could be affected by what she ate just as easily as Tripp got gas whenever he tried to eat Pidgey legs. He paused to sit between two fluffy bushes and pull his legs underneath him. He gave a whistle to his pokemon and then joined him, snuggling up next to him as he put his bag in his lap. "You ladies hungry?" He asked, pulling out two plastic bags and putting them on the ground next to him. His Ekans flicked her thin tongue against his bare arm and he grinned, opening the bag. "Okay, okay. But you both get one." He pulled the two sandwiches from the first bag, placing the ham and turkey into the Ekans' mouth which she greedily gobbled. He handed the Trubbish the other sandwich and she took her time, nibbling at the edges before slowly moving to the middle. Tripp picked up his other plastic bag and started picking out pieces of herb and packing it into the compact, worn down blue pipe he'd inherited back when his brother loved him. With the flick of a lighter, he inhaled and laid back, staring up at the open sky. There was a tinge of purple to the normally blue sky, a hazy aura the Plains gave off on the horizon. He wondered when he would return home. He wondered when Sarah Belle would escape Marjorie's grasp. He wondered if he'd ever patch up his relationship with Jett. Not so long as he stayed with that crazy shit-head group he called a "team". He rolled onto his side and inhaled from the pipe again, blowing the smoke into the unsuspecting face of Hyacinth who immediately began to cough, flailing every which way. When she could control the fit, she sent Tripp a dirty look who was too busy laughing on his side, hitting the ground as his eyes teared up. The pokemon had never shared Tripp's desire to get high. He started smoking a couple years after he first got Hyacinth and she really just saw it as a distraction from his motto. She also preferred being in tip-top shape in case her trainer's life ever came into question. She wasn't going to let his lackadaisical attitude toward law put him in danger. It was almost militaristic, the way Hyacinth protected her general. Hemlock was much more about creating a connection through love and affection, but then again she was still kind of a baby so maybe that excused her. When he could compose himself enough to take another hit, Hyacinth gave a warning hiss to him as she heard something rustling behind them. Tripp packed up his paraphernalia with practiced dexterity and slung his backpack over his shoulder as he continued down the road, a heavy buzz causing a lazy smile to spread across his face as he trekked down the path. Hemlock hopped up on his shoulder for a free ride as they traipsed into the empty riverbed. It was a shame, really. They'd learned of the benefits that this river had provided to the people of Y'orek back in the day and the production of waste they begun to produce had washed away any chance of the river's survival. Tripp paused on the outer bank where a great river once ran and held a moment of silence for the poor Tentacool that dried up. Tripp pulled a small notebook from his pocket and made a small note, tucking it back away as he slid into the watery grave. Did Tentacool have bones? Could he find the skull of a fallen brother and carry his remains as a reminder of the tragedy of man? How symbolic. Tripp began to dig around in the dirt, his pokemon playing somewhere else further down the way. He pulled out a Magikarp scale and dusted it off before tossing it away and continuing to dig. |

I Am The Coolest Person And You Should All Know It
|
[ 4 ]Tripp was an attentive trainer... at least as long as he wasn't on the weed. Feeding his Pokémon was something that every trainer should do more often than not. Rarely do we see them actually taking the time to do it while traveling. Most prefer to do it during their down time when they don't have anything to worry about. Luckily, today was one of those good days where no wild Pokémon was out to score some free lunch. +1 to the Ekans and Trubbish. They enjoyed the meal. In the mean time, Tripp got high things then got interesting. For whatever reason, the young man began to dig in an attempt to find more corpses. Must be the weed talking. Making him do strange things. I mean, how else would you classify digging up old bones? Sure, lots of trainers dig for fossils, but its another thing to actively search for corpses. To Tripp's to surprise, he found what he was looking for. Not long into the dig, a long slender skeleton was unearthed. The skeleton lacked in anything that looked like arms or legs, only a head and a long tail or spinal cord. Just like a snake. An Ekans perhaps? Who knows. Only one thing was clear, Tripp was not supposed to unearth the corpse. "Gastly!" The human heard from behind him. Anger was apparent in the voice. Much anger. It seems as though it did not enjoy the idea of its corpse being disturbed. When Tripp turned around to see where the noise came from, it saw what was making it. There now stood, or rather, floated, a large mass of gas with eyes and a mouth. It was a Gastly, poison ghost Pokémon of a well known reputation. Tripp now had a little specter to deal with. Good luck!

As Tripp kept digging, he wondered if he would encounter something that he didn't want to see. But that was a pretty short list, right? How many things could Tripp think off the top of his head that he didn't want to unearth? A centuries old curse. Some strange legendary ground pokemon. Needles. He shook it off. He wasn't going to find any of those things; they were for archaeologists to find. Tripp had luck on his side, so he believed, and knew that he was going to find something interesting. Sure enough, with a clatter and a cough, a Gastly reared his ethereal body and Tripp stumbled a few steps back, grinning up at the majestic creature. Wonderful, absolutely wonderful. This was already turning out better than he planned. His pokemon had yet to notice the ghost and remained where they were, prancing and fooling around in the dusty riverbed. Tripp put his hands on his hips and looked up at the pokemon. "You lonely, fella? What's wrong?" Even in the face of danger, Tripp still believed that he could communicate with poison pokemon. He took a step closer to the Gastly and reached a hand out in a motion of peace. |

3 The Gastly was not happy with the hand offered to him. His home had been desecrated, and this human didn't seem to have realised the severity of his actions. He hissed at the human, anger clear in his voice. But as he glared at him, Hyacinth's tail twitched in his peripheral vision. Acting on instinct, he let out a hypnotic sound, aimed directly towards Hyacinth. As he pulled back, his voice wobbled slightly, and the sound did nothing but alert Hyacinth to his presence. He hung in the air, waiting for the human to make a move.

[3 and 3 to angel since it wouldn't let me edit my post? ]Hemlock gave a worried squeal as the round rings approached the purple snake. Hyacinth's angry hiss chilled the back of Tripp's neck, making his shiver. Sure, they'd had small skirmishes but this was the first proper battle against an enraged wild pokemon. The Gastly was a worthy first time battle. Hyacinth pulled herself to her fullest length and stretched her body skyward. Her tail gave a loud rattle as she focused all of her intensity to her coil and extended her reach. " That's my girl! Send a leer his way!" The snake's eyes glowed a bright yellow as she glared the Gastly down, warning him for the pain she was about to inflict.

3 for you, friend! The Gastly drew back slightly. From the look in Hyacinth's eyes, he knew she was not a pokemon to mess with. He was going to have to go all out if he wanted to defeat this interloper, to take revenge for his defiled home. He flew closer towards the Ekans, giving her back his own piercing glare, warning her that running away was not an option. He would have his vengeance, here and now. He was soon inches from Hyacinth, and he suddenly extended his tongue and ran it across her face, covering her with saliva, before floating up and back, giggling mischieviously. He might as well have fun with his revenge - it wasn't as if his opponent was going to walk away unscathed, after all. He hung in the air just in front of Hyacinth, taunting her, daring her to make a move on the ghostly pokemon. Someone who would casually dig up a grave was obviously someone with little in the way of morals and probably rather cocky. Perhaps drawing on that might win him the victory? Either way, he would get rid of this menace.

3 ![]() Hyacinth shivered awkwardly when the floating head licked her face and she recoiled, hissing hard at the ghost. She felt no sort of fear; she knew that she was going to face him for the entirety of the battle until one of them passed out. She hardened her resolve and was determined to win this battle. She turned to look at Tripp for guidance and he smiled at her, nodding his head. "Don't hesitate! Do what your body tell you!" He called to her. By this time, Hemlock had hobbled over to them and climbed up to sit on his shoulder, rubbing her coffee filter hands together. He reached up to pet the small Trubbish and she bounced around on his shoulder, filled with nervous energy. Hyacinth turned back around to face her target and narrowed her eyes. She coiled herself up, the rattle at the end of her tail shaking ominously as she opened her mouth and sent a collection of white light at the Gastly, hoping to sting her prey with poison.

3 ![]() -x- This gastly liked the way Hyacinth tasted. He was a purple ball of shadow and poison, as mischievous as he was amorphous, and he found her venomous glands positively... delicious. The gastly swooped forward. It expanded, and it contracted, so that its gassy body filled the air and pumped like a toxic heart. Then its long, purple tongue came out again, and in one rough and crass motion, it rubbed the tongue over Hyacinth's entire body. The snake, though coiled in defense, was caught off guard. The rough, unabashed lick left her paralyzed and she hissed at the lewd ghost hovering before her. She opened her mouth as her trainer commanded; she gathered the white, glowing energy in her fangs, and launched it forward; the gastly stared on with dangling tongue and wide, amused eyes as he took the poisonous stings in his mouth. He was half-ghost, half-poison: he ate venom for breakfast.

3 ![]() Hyacinth couldn't move her body, at least not properly. It was almost as if there were a glitch in her code, causing her normally fluid movements to be stilted and jagged. The lick had done its worst; she was paralyzed. She looked at Tripp for guidance and saw a hard look on his face that wasn't easy to read. He wasn't happy. Tripp had always claimed to have a connection with his pokemon, one that couldn't be formed with attending some fancy poke-school for battle basics. But now that he looked upon his Hyacinth and realized that she had no natural inclination for battle types, Tripp felt a certain regret that he hadn't attended that school. Shit, the Gastly didn't even seem phased by her attack and his gloating floating was starting to piss him off. Of course poison wasn't very effective against poison, what kind of poison master would he be if he didn't know that? He scowled at Hyacinth, truly disappointed that her instincts hadn't told her the obvious move. If she were her mother...well, that would have been a different story. With a resigned sigh, he barked at her, annoyance coloring his tone. "Bite his smug little face off!" Hyacinth nodded her head, her eyes rolling back into her head. As she did, she felt the glitch melting away as she slowly inched forward, shedding herself of the paralyzed skin that had once messed up her rhythm. With a grateful hiss, a cloudy membrane lay in her wake and she stretched her long body out - shiny, purple, and new. Her eyes rolled back into their proper place and she regarded her foe with a disgusted look, ready to take him down. Hyacinth turned back to the battle and adjusted herself, flicking her tail to the side to get enough lunge behind her spring and she opened her mouth wide, flying at the ghost.

3 ![]() The gastly's gas flared in disapproval as Hyacinth shed her skin. All his hard work had been for nothing but a nice taste, and that would fade sooner rather than later. He spread out his gas, making a dark, eerie shape. He then closed his eyes in concentration, and flashed a bright, vivid image on the dark backdrop. Hyacinth staggered back a little, shaking her head. The image was, suffice it to say, not pretty. She managed to clear her head, and slithered forward. She coiled herself together, and made herself into a spring, and leapt up towards the gastly, sinking her fangs deep into the central mass of the creature. It let out an eerie, piercing wail and shook itself, dislodging Hyacinth, who dropped to the ground. Wisps of smoke thinned out from the Gastly's edges, and it swayed erratically in the air in weakness.
