Con't from here. Currently: Puddlelands 1 -> Rooty Area [Cold Marsh, Thick Forest 2, Moss Rock, Cold Marsh, Pontartica] Eevee Eggs(2): 20/20 OH GODS THE BABIES Suicune Egg: 12/30 Shaymin Egg: 6/30 Furfrou Egg: 3/10 Also my APL is gonna drop to 61.4, whoop-de-frickin-do. -- The giant snake hissed in satisfaction as the length of his coils squished through the mud and various depth of puddles dotting the landscape. Cerb noted somewhat dourly that Rage's shiny red scales were getting coated in mud and several kinds of plant life, but she paid it little mind. The Gyarados was more than capable of cleaning himself off, so that wasn't a matter she needed to handle. What she did need to handle was the fact that her egg pouches were shaking and squeaking. Cerb flailed to flip them open and pull out the blanket-wrapped bundles, nestling them in the crooks of her folded knees to try and keep mess from going everywhere. "Thank god this is a sort of nicer climate," she mumbled, flipping back one blanket to expose a tan pup shaking damp bat ears back and forth. "Woah there sonny, don't shake your head off." The Eevee sneezed egg gunk out his nose and started trying to lick himself off. Cerb helped, tossing fragments of eggshells over the side of Rage's head into the marsh before briskly rubbing the furball down with his hatching blanket. Leaving that one nestled into her knee and looking amazingly poofy, Cerb rescued the other Eevee pup from his mess of eggshell and blanket too. "Look Sparky, you're an uncle again," she pointed out smugly to the Pikachu ears poking out from either side of her jacket collar. Sparky grumbled and kicked his trainer in the liver in retaliation. Cerb doubled over, almost smushing her Eevee pups before managing to straighten back up and start rooting through her backpack. "You, little fella, are gonna be Reef," she told the Eevee sitting on her left knee. "And I have a thing for you." One bonk on the head with a watery blue stone later, and Cerb had a Vaporeon in her lap. She was starting to think that had not been the best idea. Luckily, Reef moved off and took up a post on the end of Rage's face, leaning over to stare the Gyarados in the eye and coo. Rage hissed back, pausing in his slithering to observe what was going on on his forehead. Cerb shook out dirty blankets and set them to the side, taking a moment to rearrange the contents of her egg pouches and backpack so that the slots were once more occupied by two legendary eggs. "Well. That was exciting," she sighed as she put the dirty laundry away and brushed the last traces of mess off the side of Rage's head. The remaining Eevee in her lap squealed at her. "Yes, I haven't forgotten you. Your name is going to be Persephone," she told the fluffbutt, snuggling him against the front of her jacket to keep him warm. "And you'll get a rock too, eventually. We just have to travel there first." Rage took this as a sign to stop holding a staring contest with Reef and keep squishing on through the muck. -- Goooooooooomy. |

3 ![]() So they headed into the marshlands where the area wasn't quite so shitty and cold and terrible. There were still wide puddles stretched over the half dry landscape, getting bigger and less ice coated the deeper in they went. The dice gods were summoned and consulted on the matter of wildlife, and came to a conclusion. Nothing rare yet! The pokemon that did appear was at least good for being around hatching pokemon and giant red snakes. It was a peaceful butterfree, at the edge of one of the puddles getting a drink. She glanced up at Rage, then back to what she was doing. Hey, if they didn't bother her, she wouldn't bother them. Drink drank, she fluttered gracefully into the sky again. ![]() Level 60 *being a damn butterfly, what more do you want* |

2 ![]() Hatch happy for mah babies plz? :3 Currently: Puddlelands 1 -> Rooty Area [Cold Marsh, Thick Forest 2, Moss Rock, Cold Marsh, Pontartica] Suicune Egg: 13/30 Shaymin Egg: 7/30 Furfrou Egg: 4/10 -- Rage growled gleefully as his body began to sink into less peaty moss and more squishy, sloshy pockets of water. Cerb just sighed and rolled her eyes, wondering if she ought to take a break in the future and throw Rage off a coastline. One would think the magical infinity pond back at BT was big enough for a Gyarados. Maybe Rage just didn't like to share. A truer fact I have never typed. Oh well. Then there was a butterfly. Cerb stared at it, Rage ignored it and slithered on, and Reef crawled to the edge of one eye crest to stare at it in fascination. Cerb reached over and snagged the end of his finned tail to keep the Vaporeon from slithering over the edge of the Gyarados' face. "Reef, stop. That's just a Butterfree. We've got one of those back home, I think." Reef turned his head and cooed while idly flicking his tail to get his trainer's hands off the delicate membrane. "... actually, do we? Man, that's a good question. I'm sure there's one or two floating around somewhere. And don't get sassy on me, Reef." Cerb waggled a finger at him. "I'm not the one who was born five minutes ago." Both her Eevee-things made faces at this fact. Sparky chortled inside her jacket. Cerb went back to leaning against Rage's crest and cradling Persephone to her front. "I dunno what I'm looking for exactly... but stop if you see something weird, hunh Rage?" This time the red Gyarados rolled his eyes. Stupid trainer doing stupid trainer things. -- Goooomy hunt continues. Edited by Cerby, Jun 14 2014, 05:21 PM.

Reef: , Persephone 3 ![]() Yes Reef was born five minutes ago, well slightly more now. Take a step back an consider things from Reef's point of view. This is the first day of his life. Born on the back of a Gyarados. A birth which is impressive even to a jaded mind. How much more amazing must it be to experience such through the eyes of a newborn? I wonder how long it was before the newborn pokémon, realised what he was standing on as another creature? That moment of recognition that he learns that the ground is not only moving, but it's alive. The stark contrast between the soft hands of a human, and the slick sensation of scales underfoot. And that's just the first few moments, we haven't mentioned the birthday present yet, evolution, an experience even the luckiest pokémon will only get to experience twice in their life. Reef, he gets to experience it in the first few minutes. You have to wonder whether he even recognises Persephone as the same species? after all Reef didn't exactly spend that long as an eevee. He might remember that at one point his fur was brown, but maybe in time that would fade. I mean how much do you recall of the first moments of his life. Quite an exciting day for Reef isn't it? Well his adventure isn't over, not yet. Staying completely still is out of the question, there are so many things he still has to process, so many new experiences. Then on the wind a scent, the sweetest fragrance Reef had ever smelt. Although this early in his life, it is hardly surprising. To the nose of a vaporeon the swamp has a layered and complex smell, but it still isn't that sweet. It has notes of sweetness sure, but nothing like the saccharine nectar that comes of the northern wind. A split second, that's all the warning you get. One second Reef is sniffing the air. The next he's sailing through it. Off on an adventure, to find the source of the sweet, sweet smell. At first it just looks like Reef is playing in a puddle. Which wouldn't be surprising if you consider it's a puppy suddenly given a great affinity to water. However the water, and the feel of paws squelching in mud are but a distraction from the true goal. Then, as the wind shifts to the north again, Reef bounds off. A more experienced mind might notice that half submerged in one of the stagnant ponds, is a large plant. You can just about make out the mud splattered tendrils extruding from the edge, and the tips of sharp spikes extending from the water. A more experienced mind might realise that the plant is carnivorous, and that Reef is running straight towards that pond. As for Reef, well Reef is 15 minutes old, and Reef has found a new smell. ![]() Lvl 60 *Lying in wait, using sweet scent to attract the newborn Vaporeon* Edited by McGonigle, Jun 18 2014, 05:54 PM.

3 ![]() Currently: Puddlelands 1 -> Rooty Area [Cold Marsh, Thick Forest 2, Moss Rock, Cold Marsh, Pontartica] Suicune Egg: 14/30 Shaymin Egg: 8/30 Furfrou Egg: 5/10 -- "Oi!" Cerb made a grab for the slippery Vaporeon, hissing when Reef slipped through her grasp like a handful of water and sloshed down to the ground in a puddle. Rage roared at the disobedient pup, the Gyarados' great bulk shooting forward with one massive push of his tail to block the path. Reef mashed his face into a wall of red and white scales and yelped, sitting back on his haunches to rub muddy paws over his sore nose. Cerb glared over the side of Rage's head, her look almost a match for the intimidating stare of her Gyarados. "Hey, don't just go sailing off on your own. You were born fifteen minutes ago and this is a strange place full of weird shit, does none of that sound dangerous to you?" Reef whined, the edges of his body physically starting to melt under twin glares. But the smeeeeeeell of goodness! It was right on the other side of the Gyarados, if he was correct. His trainer sighed and reached for a pokeball, determined to cut this nonsense short. "Return." The Vaporeon vanished in a beam of red light. Cerb turned the ball over in her hand as Persephone chittered in her lap. "Won't keep him in here forever, Percy. Just until I've dealt with whatever made him run off." Long experience in the wilds had taught Cerb there was always something preying on the young and weak. Not to mention they were in a swamp, which was full of hidden predators in the muck. Turning her attention to their surroundings, Cerb leaned over the edge of the Gyarados' head to look on his other side. It took her a minute of long looking to figure out what that green thing was, but once she did it was obvious. This was not Cerb's first encounter with a Carnivine. "This would figure," she grumbled, eyeing the mossy disc before glancing down at Rage. "Whaddya say, wanna give it a chomp?" Rage was down for anything in the name of murder. Cerb scrambled to sit more securely on the back of his head and held onto Persephone for dear life as the Gyarados reared up with a snarl. The sea snake's muscles gave a powerful ripple before he lunged, frost-rimmed fangs elongated to rip through this stupid grass tentacle thing. -- Lvl 67 268 ![]() Intimidate/Red Scarf [Dragon Dance, Ice Fang] vs ![]() Lvl 60 *Lying in wait, using sweet scent to attract the newborn Vaporeon* |

3 ![]() There are creatures that focus on the young and weak, but this carnivine, she wasn't particularly discriminate. She hadn't needed to be for years, she just left her lure gangling on the air, a temptation for any creature foolish enough to take it. She preyed on fools, yes, but whether the fools were young or old, strong or diseased she barely cared. Once she felt the vibrations of their approach she would consume whatever. Her perception of Reef, was that it was lively prey, she didn't recognise the splashing pattern but she didn't care enough to open her eyes. After all she would find out soon enough what that creature tasted like, and to her mind there wasn't much more worth noticing. At first she kept her eyes closed, because it helped her hunt, in her young years she had lost prey after they made eye contact. However she hadn't opened them in years, she was vegetating, as long as she was fed she didn't need to worry about the world around her. She had mostly forgot what it looked like, and didn't care. The first warning was a sudden shift in temperature in the pool, and then the ice was upon her. After all these years pain flaring through her. As within her body ice crystals formed, tearing at her internal membranes. Rupturing the cells that made up her body. Her cry of pain was muffled by the water, and the air became cloying and honeyed with the sweet sap that burst out of damaged cells into the murky waters. For the first time in years she opened her eyes, to see a great serpent drawn up before her, rage in it's eyes, and cold mists dissipating from it's mouth. She might have considered running but it had been years since she had considered running from anything. Over those years of complacency she had grown a vast root system. When prey was lacking those roots tore the scare minerals from the ground to feed her. Now those same roots tethered her to the spot. She had no recourse but to defend herself against the great seperent, she lashed out in desperation powerful vines lashing at the scales of her mighty opponent. However before you feel to sorry for her, remember the years she dwelt here unopposed. Think of how many creatures, possibly even a trainer have fallen into her maw. She was a tyrant, but even tyrants can fall. Lvl 67 164/268 ![]() Intimidate/Red Scarf [Dragon Dance, Ice Fang] vs ![]() Lvl 60 131/254 *Using Power whip* *Under the effects of Ingrain* |

2 ![]() Currently: Puddlelands 1 -> Rooty Area [Cold Marsh, Thick Forest 2, Moss Rock, Cold Marsh, Pontartica] Suicune Egg: 15/30 Shaymin Egg: 9/30 Furfrou Egg: 6/10 -- Rage took a vine to the face, and he didn't like it. No way, no sir. The Gyarados was a monster once he got going, unstoppable until either he or his opponent were felled. Cerb rarely took advantage of this, but she was now because Rage deserved a little action now and again. Therefore, she merely tightened her grip around Persephone and the crest prong she was clinging to as Rage shook off the annoying vine and snapped ice-rimmed fangs at it. Circling around the plant's pool, he looked for where the roots were weakest before lunging again. Literal spears of ice sank into greenery and tugged, the Gyarados thrashing his powerful body back and forth to rip up the Carnivine from the ground and toss it somewhere far away. Alas, none of Cerb's pokemon ate salad. But better the grass pokemon took a little trip in the air than became someone's dinner, right? Right. -- Alright, so I had two admins confirm that battle mod was nuts-up and Rage got shafted hardcore. Carnivine only has 180 HP max. Intimidate + Red Scarf lowers Carnivine's Atk two stages. Combine that with Power Whip hitting for neutral damage (Gyarados is part Flying, remember), and Rage takes 40-60 damage at best. +1 Atk from Dragon Dance means Ice Fang hits for at least 170 in a near-KO. Add in about 20 or so for Ingrain, and the Carnivine is still nearly dead. The stats below reflect this, since this is about how they should be anyhow. 3 ![]() Rage's teeth sink into the body of the Carnivine. The plant opens its maw in a screech and the Gyarados pulls, forcibly ripping her away from her extended root system. Now little more than a ragged chew toy, the Carnivine is thrashed about in the dragon's maw, her leaves freezing over as the ice works its way deeper into the cellulose. As the plant goes limp, Rage throws it aside, letting it sail through the air before ploughing into a pool of marshwater. The Carnivine floats in the icy water, alive, but broken. It might manage to reestablish itself, possibly get an easy meal to regain its strength while the damage mended. The chances were pretty much 50/50 though.
