For the first time in weeks, the ship was not crawling above its pilot. It was stashed away in the SSD. The ring glittered red on the alien's left hand, the same hand that was held up, displaying the holographic display generated from the computer clamped to his forearm.

Why are we here again? grumbled the voice of Helsing.

Floyd turned around and found the psychic hovering behind him, peering over his shoulder at the map of the forest displayed on the hologram. Further away was the alien's Geneticore, Til'k, foot cocked over his head and scratching madly at a flea. The Scavian frowned at the Alakazam and reached up, plucking a purple blob off of his shoulder. This was Vik'noff, Floyd's ditto. Correction, his second ditto. The first, Squishy, was still firmly lodged inside of Til'k's brain.

He held the blob out, dangling it in front of Helsing's nose. "We're looking for one of these," he replied with a resolute hiss.

You have one though. Why search for another? countered the psychic while pointing a claw at the blob.

Floyd laughed, a gruff sounding bark. "It will not be for me. I was given a request from a young man by the name of Sevrin."

Helsing nodded, tugging at his long mustache thoughtfully. It all makes sense now. This isn't just a favor is it?

Floyd turned around and started walking through the woods, leaving the brightly lit map up for reference. He continued talking though, "You're right. This is personal. It's what Genesis is all about. Helping young trainers become stronger. We help them, and one day, when the country needs them most, they will be able to help us."

The pokemon held up his claws in mock surrender, Ok! Chill. I don't need a speech. I get it. Let's go find the kid a pet blob.

"Yeah, thanks, Hel," Floyd grumbled. "I wish we knew how Ditto's reproduced. That would have made this much more simple. "

They walked in silence for a moment, the sounds of the forest filling the void. Til'k crawled up beside his psuedo father and bumped against him, pushing him aside with a playful nudge that sent the alien sprawling.

"Hey!" he shouted in surprise, arms cartwheeling for balance. "Watch it buddy. You weigh a ton! You could squish me." Steadying himself, he chased after the romping monster and tackled him. Til'k craned his long neck around and nipped at his orange trainer who messed up the moss on top of his head in return.

We'll never find a ditto if you two keep goofing off, interjected the fox-faced-thing floating behind them.

Floyd stopped and turned around to face his friend. "We're going to be lucky to find one at all. Last time we had Angel's help."

How was Angel helpful? I think he's annoying. Helsing crossed his arms and glared.

"He's lucky." Floyd scratched the back of his head. "Kinda like those rabbit's feet human's carry around. He's my lucky human. Mess up his hair for good luck." Floyd grinned brightly.

Helsing shook his head and sighed, but didn't argue. The Scavian had stupid ideas. There was no point in discouraging him. He would just come up with something more ridiculous. Instead, he tried to refocus his wayward trainer. Where do we start looking for this blob anyway, if we just got lucky last time?

Floyd had ran ahead again, resuming his roughhousing with his pet monster. He called back though, "We get lucky again, of course! But we'll have to make our luck this time. We find a pokemon, and you talk to it. Eventually, we might find one that knows something useful."

And so, this was how Floyd's search for his own kind was detoured by a kid's desire to have a pet ditto. Had he known how close he was to Manix, he would have put off his humanitarian mission without a second thought. As it was, he was on one end of the forest and she was on the other. The ship, currently unavailable, could not tell the alien what its long range sensors might have known immediately. Floyd's personal computer, similar in make and model to the one his counter part carried, was only good for short range scanning. Unless they miraculously wandered in the other's direction, they may as well have been light years apart.

3 :lp Do you need... one tree roll, or three? You only indicate 1 in red, but I see 3 at 5/5. If only one, it's 3, if all three it's 3, 3, 4 in that order. No item.

The forest was just as disfigured as it was named for, poison creeping up from the nearby swamp and into the trees that were gnarled and had a faint purple tinge. Why in the hell ditto liked this place, the world may never know. Still, other pokemon lived here too, some who enjoyed the poisonous edge and some that didn't.

Most pokemon were going to be scared away by Til'k and his unnatural... existence, really. For a short time, they encountered nothing. Not even Floyd's itemfinder made things more interesting. Finally, in the curved, twisted branches of a tree, there came a sign of life.

It was just a stupid bee, though. A giant bee, lazily laying on the curve of the branch and surveying the area. It buzzed a warning at the toothy alien and his crew of nonsense, as if the bright stripes weren't enough to warn that he was poisonous.

Pfh, as if that would stop anyone.

The carefree pair now trudged along despondently, not even realizing they were the source of their own failure. Helsing had seen it many times before, but it was useless to explain it to the alien. Floyd would never have believed anyone could be frightened by either him or Til'k. The overgrown abomination was nothing more than an excitable puppy to him - one that just got carried away - occasionally eating his playmates. That aside! Floyd saw only an adorable loving monster, misunderstood by most.

The quiet forest suddenly humming was new though, and the two looked up excitedly. "Look!" Floyd growled happily, pointing a claw at the tree. "A pokemon! A BEE! Bees are bugs." He swished his tail with delight. The alien adored bugs. He actually already had the bee's evolutionary line so he wouldn't have to irritate the insect by trying to capture it. All he had to do was start a pleasant conversation. "Helsing, try talking to it? And be nice. Please?"

The alakazam tugged thoughtfully at his whiskers and huffed loudly. Fine. He tromped forward and stared up into the tree, not at all looking forward to a conversation with a bee that didn't look happy to begin with. Bees were seldom happy about anything. Yoo-hoo, Mr. Bedrill! Down here. He waved and grinned a foxy face full of teeth. Not exactly charming. My orange friend here is looking for a ditto... he trailed off and looked at Floyd, snatched the blob off his shoulder, and held Vik up in the air. Looks kinda like this one!

"What if the beedrill is actually a ditto?" The scavian asked, scratching his head at the sudden dilemma.

Helsing rolled his eyes, flattening his ears in disgust. We went through this LAST time. We won't know unless it tells us, or you capture it. Do you really wanna go there?

"Not if I don't have to. He looks happy just the way he is..."

He looks anything BUT happy, Floyd!

Floyd cringed and took a step back, bumping into his pet monster.

3 :lp lol take the 3, 4 now since I already rolled them. No item.

At first the bee quieted down, and seemed content to just watch them, not making much noise aside from a curious half second buzz from his wings. For a few seconds while Floyd's crew was paused, there was a lot of pleasant staring at each other, and nobody felt threatened and it was all fine and dandy. The bee had never seen anything like Til'k or Floyd before, and if they kept at a distance, the bee had no problems with them.

So distracted with studying the odd pointy pair, the bee didn't notice Helsing until he started to speak. He looked, and the pyschic fox-thing was right at the base of the tree. The tree must have been the bee's territory, because it burst into a fit of furious buzzing, getting up to stand on the branch and brandish his stingers at the psychic. The question finally registered in the bug's mind, and he shook his head obviously, raising his hand stingers slightly even though Floyd had stepped away. Didn't seem like he'd seen a ditto at all for quite some time.

This isn't going to get us anywhere. The bee pleads ignorance, grumbled Helsing.

Floyd heaved a disappointed sigh and leaned against his geneticore out of boredom. The monster licked him, leaving a trail of drool dripping off of the side of his face.

"Well, there's no helping it. We just have to keep looking until we find some sort of clue." Floyd shrugged, and then looked up into the tree at the bee. "Thanks Beedrill! Oh, and hey...my berry trees seem to be doing great right now. Have a watmel for your trouble." He took one of his berries and placed it at the base of the tree for the bee, waved goodbye and motioned to his friends to follow.

That was a silly thing to do, Floyd. Noted the psychic.

"What was?" the alien replied, oblivious as usual.

Giving away your watmel berries. You need those for you own pokemon. Or have you forgotten how discontent the masses are these days?

Floyd started laughing. "There's nothing silly about being nice to somebody. That bee could have attacked us, and he didn't. I think it was fair to say thank you." He hadn't really expected them to find a ditto so easily anyway. He was more disappointed that he didn't know of a better way of discovering the whereabouts of one.

Continuing though the wood, Til'k wasn't about to let his father take the lead for very long, and was soon bounding ahead again, a clatter of ungainly limbs. Helsing was left trailing behind in a cloud of his own bitterness. Floyd wasn't about to be deterred though. Even if it took awhile to find the kid a ditto, there were plenty of other pokemon in the woods that he didn't own yet.

[Head's up, this is a test mod! No item.]

Most pokemon were excellent at procuring berries and food from their natural home, but it was by far easier when a trainer came through and handed out or dropped berries at every turn, and some pokemon had gotten very good at taking advantage of this.

A Noctowl was perched in the tree across from the Beedrill, watching the interaction in minute detail. She watched as the Beedrill took the berry gratefully and nibbled on it as the group walked away. She turned her head to look in the little nook in the tree, where two young Hoothoots were nestled. They opened their eyes and blinked, before scrambling out of their nests and jumping up and down in excitement.

Their mother chirped quietly at them, before swooping down off of the branch and flying after the walking group. The two Hoothoots timidly dropped down, flapping frantically, before falling into a comfortable rhythm and heading after their mother. The mother flew a little higher, getting a good view of the now more spread-out group. She spotted the person carrying the berry trees, and headed down to fly just behind him.

Well done! I'm slow to reply at the moment but I wanted to give you LP and let you know you did fine. Also a tid-bit of info to watch out for is if a person is going out of their way to be nice or helpful you can award 1-6 LP for a good deed, same if their being unnecessarily cruel. We used to have positive and negative fame points to distinguish the two but now it's just LP one way or another.

Anywho. 3LP and I'll reply with a post later when I have time.

Archen hatched, need anger assigned.

The alien and monster were oblivious to the three birds stalking them. Owls were silent fliers and easily avoided detection. However, Helsing couldn't be fooled for long. His psychic feelers detected the watchful presence and soon he was looking around for the source.

Ah-ha! There you are. His voice whispered to the avian minds without alerting his trainer. If you're looking for hand outs, you might want to think again. Floyd is a pokemon collector, and doesn't have anyone of your evolutionary line on Genesis Island. He's more likely to catch you, than feed you and walk away. He shrugged and kept walking, as if nothing was wrong. However, his pokemon are treated well if you wish join his venture willingly -

"You're awfully quiet back there, Hel." Floyd called over his shoulder. "Everything ok?"

Helsing's ears laid back and he sighed. Oh, just fine, just looking for your silly ditto.

The alien shrugged and stopped moving. Something in his pack had his attention. One of his eggs was hatching. A damp, scruffy looking reptile covered in wet red plumage emerge looking more than a little grouchy for being woken up early. Helsing resumed his private conversation with the lurking owls.

The orange oaf is out here looking for a ditto. If you can help him find one, he'd probably give you some food. Of course, he's still going to give you some sort of lame speech to try and recruit you.

You found an item! I rolled a pearl for you. Also 3 :anger for Archen. In addition a retroactive 2 :lp for the berry last post - sorry I didn't know about that!

The Noctowl was slightly surprised by the telepathy, but her curiosity was immediately replaced with fear at the words 'pokemon collector'. Visions of nets and cages flashed in her eyes, and she quickly turned around and quietly ushered her two young Hoothoots into the woods. As the Alakazam continued, she hovered above them, interest piqued by the possibility of food for her two young ones. She cooed gently to them. "Head into the woods, sweeties, scout out for a ditto. But stick together, and stay away from humans." The two Hoothoots chirped, and dashed off, excited to be allowed on their own for once. The Noctowl watched them go, half worried, half safe in the knowledge that spreading out would get them more chance of a ditto.

While Helsing was talking, the Archen shook itself out of its egg, bleary-eyed and thoroughly confused. It flapped its wings weakly, but with its damp wings, didn't get enough air, and fell out of the pack, plopping onto the ground. It squawked loudly, trying unsuccessfully to get to its feet. It looked up, and quickly spread its wings, trying to look as intimidating as possible. It was surrounded by pokemon and a ...thing that might have been a pokemon? And it had no idea where it was. It made a break for it, running past Floyd's legs, only to trip and fall with its still very weak legs.

Meanwhile, from deeper in the pack, the Itemfinder beeped. Just in front of the Archen, uncovered by where its beak hit the ground and dug into it a little, was a very shiny looking pearl. The Archen was immediately very distracted by it, and set about trying to dig it out of the ground.

The little bird flailed right out of Floyd's pack and flopped on the ground. The alien yelped in dismay. "Archen!" He dived down and scooped up the screeching hatchling, uncovering the thing she found so interesting. "Are you ok?" he gushed, voice whining with worry.

The baby pecked him on his armored head and fought to get back to the shiny thing it had found. Floyd followed the direction of her attention and stooped to see what the curious object was. Using his claws, he pried it out of the earth, blew the dust off and held it up to the light.

"It looks like a pearl." He nuzzled the feisty baby and smiled. He offered his hand, palm open to the bird. The pearl was her find, and if she liked it, she was welcome to have it. "All yours. You have great taste, if you don't mind my saying so." He nuzzled the baby again and then resumed poking around in his pack while she fussed, pecked, and gnawed her new toy. "Here we go! You need a pokeball. This will transport you back to the island. Your mom is there waiting on you." He tapped the ball on the baby's head and she vanished, pearl and all, into the ball. The ball was then teleported to his PC and he was one pokemon closer to his dream of having one of every species in Opaddeka.

Floyd looked back the way the he had come and found Helsing staring up into the canopy intently. He following the alakazam's dark eyes and laughed. "So this is what you've been up too. I should have known you were holding out on me."

He studied the pokemon in the trees and realized he had never seen one before. It only took a moment for the curious adventurer to flick open the panel on his gauntlet computer. A moment later and a holographic screen illuminated the shady wood, casting its blue green glow over the trees. He brought up his pokedex app and scanned the feathered creature above him. Alien scrawl rolled down the translucent image and several images of the bird were displayed to one side.

"A noctowl...excellent night sight. Interesting. We could sure use it's sharp eyes looking for ditto." Floyd deactivated the screen.

What do you think I've been doing? Helsing rolled eyes, privately he continued talking to the owl. You see what I have to deal with? I'm convinced all that armor on his head goes to waste on a brain the size of a pea.

"Do you mean the noctowl has seen ditto in the woods? Will she help us?" Floyd was fidgeting with excitement, his tail lashing back and forth, smacking the geneticore. Til'k, for his part, watched the Scavian's tail with the interest of a feline, occasionally taking a swipe at it with his paw.

3 :lp Figured I'd take this seeing as our other trainee mod hasn't. Sorry for the wait!

The Noctowl perched on a branch to think. The trainer did have food, and finding a ditto wouldn't be too much work. Alright, the bird replied to Helsing. If we'll get some food out of this, then we'll help. She flapped her wings and rose off the branch, soaring down into the trees and scanning the ground for any sign of the little pink blob.

After a few minute's flight, she dived down at the sight of something pink. She squawked to Helsing and the not-human humany-shaped thing, and dropped down to the ground. But after getting in close, she saw the pink was nothing but a little bottle of some kind of pink liquid. She poked it with her beak to make sure it wasn't a disguise or anything, before flying up into the air again.

Two little brown blobs came fluttering through the trees, slightly unsteady in the air. The two Hoothoots tumbled into their mother, squawking excitedly, before flapping back the way they came. I think they found something. she said over her shoulder to Helsing, before flapping off after the two.

Need a roll on the watmel tree.

"OW! Watch it, Til'k!" Floyd turned on the monster, finding his tail in its jaws. "Gimmie that back." He snatched the appendage out of the pouting beast's jaws and made sure his precious tail was still in one piece. He was still clutching it when he returned his attention to the owl, he found her pecking at something under the leaves.

Helsing was already investigating. It's only an ice heal, but it might come in handy one day. He got up, tossing the bottle to the alien. Tilting his head, he listened to the bird's screeching cries. I think her kids have found something.

The two fluttering brown puff balls had returned. Their squawks meant nothing to Floyd. Helsing, on the other hand, proceeded to follow them and their mother through the wood. Floyd and Til'k were left behind, gaping at one another in surprise.

"I guess we follow?" the alien asked his adopted son.

The abomination wriggled and snuffled through the leaves, uninterested. Floyd shrugged and sprinted after his alakazam, following the smell of cheap pipe tobacco that hung around the psychic's jacket. Til'l sat alone for several more minutes, happily snorting whatever smells he could find. He wasn't concerned about losing the alien. His sense of smell had been designed to be keen. When at last he looked up and realized his was alone, he looked around and let out a short, soft whine. He sniffed the air, and off through the wood he went, chasing after his alien as quickly as his mismatched claws could carry him.

[Chasing after the owls to see what they've found.]

3 :lp , and 2 Watmel berries for you!

One of the Hoothoots flew in front, holding something pink in its claws. She dropped it down at the humanoid's feet. It certainly wasn't a Ditto, just a Heal Ball. She flew up to her mother, looking very proud of herself. The Noctowl cooed over her, preening her feathers.

The second Hoothoot flew back accompanied by another Hoothoot. One turned to the other in confusion. The Noctowl looked between the three Hoothoots, flapping back from them and squawking loudly. She turned back to Helsing, saying, "I... I don't know which ones are my babies!" She flew around the three Hoothoots, who were pecking at each other gently.

She was thoroughly confused. She sniffed at the three of them, but their scents had become so mixed in the forest, she couldn't tell one from the other. She clawed at the ground. This was worrying. All thoughts of berries and trainers and Dittos flew out of her mind - she just wanted her babies.

Need a roll on the bluk and nanab trees.

Til'k did not have to search long before he rejoined the small party. Floyd had come to a skidding halt, nearly colliding with the tiny owl. He was staring at his feet, where another item now lay. A Heal Ball - people could be such litter bugs. Never-the-less, he diligently picked it up and pocketed it. One man's trash was another man's treasure and Floyd wasn't overly picky.

The little family was once more reunited - with a third owlet in tow. Floyd could see that something wasn't right. The mother's reaction to the third baby was a flutter of ruffled, agitated feathers and frantic hooting. He didn't need know what she was saying to tell she was upset. He thought back...how many chicks had been fluttering around her? Only two, though it was possible a third had been searching the wood and he never saw.

Helsing followed the series of expressions flipping across the Scavian's face like a slide show. She only had two owlets, Floyd. The third is your ditto - if you can figure out which one is which.

"Ah! That explains it then." he swished his tail happily, once more brightening. "Perhaps that's something I can assist with," he added as he plucked the purple blob that was Vik from his shoulder. He held the ditto out to the twin owls. "After all, ditto's might have some way of discerning other dittos. How else would they reproduce in the wild, if everyone is always disguised as someone else?"

Don't be so sure. Ditto's are rare. It's likely they're that way because they can't find each other.

"Ha! You forget that our good friend Angel has a ditto. The two never seemed able to...do anything. They certainly weren't interested in one another."

Then perhaps they reproduce asexually, like an amoeba? Helsing continued to theorize.

"If they do, then they must require very special circumstances. THAT might explain why these woods are so important to them. There is something conducive to their survival here..."

Well, now that we've concluded something we already knew, you see if Vik can recognize one of its own when it sees one. I'll see if I can pick up any stray thoughts to differentiate the two.

Floyd knelt and held out his ditto. Vik rose from its puddle of ooze that seeped between the alien's claws. Two little eyes blinked open and a small lip-less mouth appeared. It was smiling as it studied the two owlets.

The three Hoothoot sniffed at each other, all looking thoroughly confused. They hopped from foot to foot, chirping occasionally. The Noctowl fluttered around, a few feathers dropping to the ground as it panicked a little.

As the Scavian held out the ditto to the birds, the three Hoothoot began moving towards it to sniff at it. The Noctowl squawked loudly and darted in front of them, spreading out her wings. She had no idea what was going on, but she knew she had to protect her babies.

"No!" she squawked. "These are my babies, you leave them alone!"

One of the Hoothoot tried to sneak out under her wing, only to be roughly pushed back. It frowned, and slunk underneath the wing by morphing into a more purplish shade and more liquid-like material. The Noctowl spotted it and darted backwards, wrapping her babies up in her wing, as the Ditto sniffed at Vik. It pawed up at it with a morphed arm-like protrusion, sticking slightly to Vik, and chirped.

Searching for Ditto...and I guess anything Floyd doesn't have yet.

Floyd stumbled back, away from the large, flailing bird. Vik slipped between his fingers, stretching out for them. The mother only managed to shield two, while a third seemed more eager than the rest to meet the ditto. It morphed and slid easily past the over-protective owl, revealing its true nature at last.

There's our doppelganger! Helsing announced to all with a smile. We'll just let Floyd deal it...

Turning his yellow back from the two blobs and the curious alien that couldn't help but kneel on the ground to peer closely, the alakazam snatched the alien's pack away and motioned to his feathered friends. He revealed three watmels, one for each of them.

I apologize for Floyd. He's overzealous at times. Narrow minded, and stupid even. However, dear lady, you and your little ones have more than assisted us in his silly mission. These are for you. He placed the massive berries on the ground by the owl family and twitched his ears innocently. Looking back at the two ditto, a thought crossed his mind. Really, it's usually Floyd putting on the sales pitch, but if you're ever interested in warmer climates and plenty of food, Genesis is the place. It's an island that the orange oaf is trying to populate. No pokeballs once there...might want to think about it.

Vik was completely enthralled by the other ditto, and chirped back a happy hello. Slithering closer, Floyd's ditto pawed back, rolled and wobbled with delight. It had been several months since it had last visited the woods, and never in all of its life there had it met this particular ditto.

The alien was tense, excited that he was actually looking at another ditto, but at a loss how to capture it. He would prefer to convince it to come willingly, after all, he wouldn't be much more than a thug if he beat it up, captured the creature, and sent it to Sevrin angry and confused. What would the boy think of him then? No, respect was too important. His reputation was at stake. Better to lose the ditto in a failed attempt than to ruin it on the likely rumor than he was a cruel trainer. Floyd was anything but.

"Vik? Try to convince it to join us. Translate for me?" He looked at the tiny stranger and tilted his horned head. "There is a young trainer out there, on the mainland, who needs your help. He's on the run from rough bunch who treated him badly, and you could help him learn how to blend into the scenery and disappear when he needs to. You could keep him safe. He's a good kid, from what I can tell, could really go places too." Floyd swallowed and took a deep breath. "What do you think? Is that something you would be interested in?"

Vik cheeped and meeped its way through the explanation. All the while Helsing studied the encounter closely. The fanged alien could have easily used another pokemon to put the creature to sleep, and force its cooperation, but the psychic understood the less practical approach of diplomacy. This pokemon wasn't going to Genesis. This mission wasn't about relocating a wild creature from one forest to another where it wouldn't notice the upheaval. This one would go to a trainer, travel in a pokeball, and experience life from a human's perspectives, on a human's terms.

For all his monstrous looks, Floyd is nothing to be afraid of. He went on to tell the mother owl. Looks can be deceiving. Shall we see if the ditto tells him to go to hell? He grinned.

3 :lp sorry in advance but this is going to be terrible, but I don't want to leave you sitting anymore

The protective mother owl pulled her babies a few hops away, looking between each one of them with narrow eyes. She was quickly realizing what was going on, and was a little freaked out by it. Ditto were known by the pokemon living here, or at least she knew about them, and it scared her that she couldn't tell an imposter from her own chicks. She was anxiously looking them over when Helsing spoke to them. She looked suspiciously at him and the watmels, but her children knew a free meal when they saw it, and descended on the berries happily.

"Oh... no. I've lived in this forest for many years. I could never leave," the owl said kindly, watching the two owlets make a great mess of themselves with the berries. She hadn't touched hers yet, but no doubt the smell from the others would get her to. (2 LP for feeding the wild animals)

This ditto, on the other hand, was young and mischievous, like many ditto were. A wiggly tendril of goop came out and cupped what may have been the ditto's chin, listening to its kin explain the growling alien.

"Weeell..." the wild pokemon glooped and gurgled, a voicebox hastily formed out of muck. "I don't know! I've never been out of here before, and not a lot of trainers pass through here. What the hell is he, anyway?" the goo monster wiggled vaguely at Floyd.

Well, it didn't straight-up say no, so that's a start at least.

The psychic shrugged, unperturbed by the mother owl's inevitable reply. I understand, but if you ever change your mind, there's nothing like a tropical breeze and sunsets for a change of pace.

The ditto's were talking, one asking questions and the other looking up at the orange alien for what he wanted said. Floyd crouched down, flicking his tail from side to side in silent contemplation. How could he honestly answer a question like that? To describe the whole of a person in a few inadequate words. Sin Sevrin, a boy he knew through brief passing acquaintance, had never met in person, and only knew by his own autobiographical account. Government surveillance backed up the kid's story, but it was the alien's gut instinct that made him act.

"He's human." Floyd replied with a shrug. Those two words summed up worlds. "Just a boy." Again a simple word, yet it denoted the fallible creature's innocence, his wry grin suggested the curiosity that came along with the age. "As I said, he's in a bit of trouble. Nothing he caused though. He's...gifted, from what I gather. Special. The ones he's running from would abuse this talent."

Floyd sighed and sat down on the leaf strewn, damp ground. "I can only tell you so much. He's too young to have much of a history. I can only tell you my impressions about him. The rest you would have to see for yourself. The real question is, would you want to reach out to a stranger, and go beyond what this wood can offer you? Do you want to have someone know and remember you for who you are, and not for the shadow you pretend to be?"

The alien's hand reached for Vik, and let the back of his knuckles gently rub the soft, slippery flesh. Vik meeped back at him, remembering its own brief history with the Scavian and began gibbering its own story at the fellow ditto. 'We haven't been together long.' Vik said. 'We didn't meet on the best of terms either. It was right here in this forest. I didn't get a choice. I was angry about it for awhile, but...I'm a people person. I like meeting new people, new faces, as many as possible. I collect them.' Like the flipping pages of a photo album the ditto began to shift. Faces of pokemon that the other had never seen before emerged from the malleable folds of Vik's flesh. Faces of humans and ordinary animals as well. One after another they rose and fell again like the swell of the tides, until only Vik remained. 'Floyd is narrow minded and selfish, but he isn't who you would be staying with. Human's are all different, you won't know for sure until you meet him.'

And if you don't like him. You can eat him. A new voice asserted. Vik looked back at the deep, rumbling growl from above. The toothy, draconian head of the geneticore loomed above them. Til'k never spoke. Most of the pokemon in Floyd's crew didn't know he could. Helsing knew, only because he knew everything, and Vik knew, because they were one and the same.

Vik smiled at their wild kin. A broad sneaky, thin lipped smiled that teased with secrets. 'That's Til'k. He used to be a ditto too.'

I still am. Snorted the beast defensively. I chose to save this...creature. It was the last of its kind. A mindless monster. I gave meaning to its existence. It gave me gender. It gave me identity. I am no longer a borrower of souls and faces, I have my own. Til'k tossed his great grisly head back and bellowed proudly into the chill air. It gave me strength. I no longer hide and fear. I do as I please and even Father couldn't stop me if he tried.

Floyd did not understand the conversation, though he started with surprise when the geneticore moved in and began hissing and snarling at the two ditto's. He looked back at Helsing, tilting his head.

It's a private conversation, Floyd, let it be. The ditto has been given a lot to consider. The alakazam replied quietly. The geneticore's words had brought unpleasant memories to the surface, of things the pimp wasn't proud of, of things Floyd knew nothing about.

While the alien was distracted by the Ditto, the Noctowl gestured for her two babies to follow her back into the woods. She glanced back towards him, the food a nice reward, but not enough of one to justify moving to a completely new forest. She knew this forest like the back of her wing, and she wasn't leaving that easily.

Vik's faces were fascinating. Some of them were familiar, but others were completely foreign. They flicked through so fast, it didn't really have a chance to see many of them very well, and it instilled a great deal of curiosity in the little blob pokemon. It wanted to see some of those pokemon, get some new experiences.

It looked up as the draconic face above it, suddenly recognising a fellow Ditto. It was something so utterly foreign, unlike anything it had even seen, not even vaguely similar to any pokemon. Perhaps travelling with this new trainers would help it see things it hadn't ever seen before. And as the weird pokemon thing had said, it could always fight back if it needed to. He was only a boy, after all.

It chirped up at the alien. "I'll go!" it said.

Floyd is not human. :<

The strange ditto cheeped up at him. It was a noise that the Scavian couldn't translate. Floyd tossed his ugly head back at Helsing, tilting it in confusion.

It says it'll come, Helsing drawled while maintaining his distance and watching quietly. The owl family was gone, and so was Floyd's chance of obtaining a pokemon for himself. As the saying went, no good deed goes unpunished.

"Really? Wonderful!" His tail swished happily while he fished out a pokeball. He noted in passing the birds who had helped him were gone. A frown flitted across his face as he searched the forest. More pressing matters drew his attention back to the dittos. With great care he placed the device on the ground and nudged it toward the wild pokemon. Vik oozed backwards, away, giving the path to its kin. "If you're sure then, just tap the little button on the ball. I'll send you straight over to Sin so you can meet him right away."

Vik translated, in case the alien's garbled accent was incomprehensible. While the ditto examined the ball, Floyd's gaze again looked towards the woods. His chance to thank the owls was gone.

The psychic noted the worry whirling about the alien's brain. I paid them, if that's what you're wondering.

"Oh. Uh...Thanks Hel." He faltering words couldn't hide his disappointment.

After everything he had seen so far, the alien offering the pokeball was the most normal thing to happen in the last hour or so. Despite the fangs and horns, Floyd was still a trainer. And while the ditto's new trainer wouldn't be nearly this interesting to look at, hopefully things would be just as exciting.

If not, well, then the ditto would have a feast.

Dittos are creepy.

The slime pokemon oozed forward, reaching a tendril up to touch the catch release on the ball Floyd was offering. As expected, it disappeared, and the ball pinged without any struggle.

Welp, now what?

Since I know you're giving the ditto to a newbie, I adjusted the level.

The ditto was captured. It didn't whisk away to his PC. On the contrary, a space was open on his team, and so it remained. Floyd looked to each of his companions in turn and smiled, his tail swishing happily. The deed was done, now to see if the boy was still interested.

He looked back at Helsing, and then looked around the wood. On second thought, the ditto would keep. While he was here, he might as well look for signs of the other Scavian who was still lurking somewhere in Opaddeka. And as we know by now, hours or days would pass, and he would not find her. He would seek out a temporary distraction, allowing himself to become completely distracted on his mission of ditto delivery.

It would be then that his phone would finally ring, one stormy afternoon. Of course, Floyd would need to fly away, and so, that's exactly what he did. Straight to Deepwood, and landed right in Manix's Thread.
