EV Idol: Speed: 255 Sp. Atk: 255 Yanmega Lvl 60 (Speed Boost) Charizard Lvl 88 (Blaze, Solarpower) Magnezone Lvl 74 (Sturdy) Genesect Lvl 82 (Download) Holding Burn Drive Using 1 Item. I'm requesting a 4VS4 long hand chat battle guys. Not sure why I called this a chat battle (yes I named the system), it really doesn't have to happen on chat. But here's the deal, if you need a refresher. I wanna RP, but I'm not making the mod RP. I'll do my thing old school style and the mod doesn't have to RP at all, just crunch the numbers like they would in a chat battle and post them up. Timeline cleanup, this is happening right before Floyd gets drunk and meet up with Jance for the Emblem questing. Floyd had only one Tier Two Gym left to challenge and it was all about bugs and flying types - his favorites. He could encounter any number of different other types, give the diversity of the two types the gym specialized in. The General had more difficulty picking a team for this challenge than he'd had with any of the others and he didn't know why. Maybe because these were his favorite types, and it was surprise that his team was comprised of bug and flying - except to Gray. Strategy always made the alien nervous. Screwing up, making mistakes, he didn't like making mistakes. Mistakes cost people their lives, people depended on him. He had a reputation to maintain, and the fear of letting everyone down drove the Hydra out of hiding. She hated mistakes too, but only because fear was weakness and Floyd really had confidence problems that she was determined to stamp out. Her superimposed emotions didn't make Floyd feel more confidant, it kept him from feeling anything at all. He walked into the gym numb, cold, and callous. The gym was a horrible travesty of a building. He wandered around the honeycomb patterned rooms to the battle area in the back, built like a giant bird cage. There he would find Cheryll, the gym leader, notorious for wearing too much makeup, and suffering from the exact opposite of the Scavian's problem. Hers was a perfection complex. |

3 ![]() Cheryll was sitting in a swinging garden chair, suspended from a tree branch in the gym's battle arena. She was touching up her blusher while idly swinging the chair back and forth - probably in a vague attempt at a Bird-of-Paradise look. As it was, the effect was more Silver Pheasant. On sighting Floyd, Cheryll almost fumbled her powder compact, catching it just in time and snapping it shut. She recovered fairly quickly: Cheryll of the Escennia gym, caught flat-footed? Never. "I'd assume you're here for the gym badge?" she inquires, slipping off the chair and mincing up to the edge of the arena. -------------- Cheryll awaits your first pokemon Edited by Kyozuki, Jan 27 2014, 06:46 PM.

"How many assholes we got on this ship anyhow?"

3LP (I think I was asleep and or drunk when I typed that post. Wow.) EV Idol: Speed: 255 Sp. Atk: 255 Yanmega Lvl 60 (Speed Boost) Charizard Lvl 88 (Blaze, Solarpower) Magnezone Lvl 74 (Sturdy) Genesect Lvl 82 (Download) Holding Burn Drive The alien nodded solemnly. "A challenge. Yes." he tilted his head and took a deep breath. "Not just a challenge though. You command my favorite types. I'm here to learn." There was no feeling in his deep, gravely voice. A slight treble could be heard, as if someone else spoke with him. Floyd reached down to his belt, and removed a single pokeball. With a quick tap, and a tacky effect from the oily smoke now oozing from his claw tips, the ball snapped open. A jet of red light morphed into a bug, a Yanmega by the name of Lexx. In direct contrast to her over serious trainer, the perky, bubbly insect zipped about with a chattering giggle. The big goofy bug took no notice of the thread of black that connected her to the alien. Another slow, deep breath. "This is Lexx. She was my first bug type I ever captured." He smiled slightly - just a twitch at the corner of his cheek flesh. "What was your first? Will you tell me what it was like?" His rumbling voice was even, laced with a touche of curiosity. To Floyd, this woman was neither beautiful or hideous, she was like him, if she connected with insects on the same level he did. He thought of them as beautiful. Considering what his kind looked like, it was no real surprise that puppy love came in the form of an exoskeleton and compound eyes. ![]() 60Speedboost Speed EVs: 255 Sp. Atk EVs: 255 |

3 ![]() Cheryll hailed from Escennia. Born and raised. Her nose was stayed upturned and her eyes were locked in accusatory slits. She tried to take this alien in her midst in stride- anything else was unbecoming- but as she approached the center of the arena to start the battle, she realized what a grotesque creature this was. It had wandered into her sanctuary, it had invaded her space. She didn't concern herself with military ranks and she'd never heard of Scavians. Maybe over time, Floyd had forgotten how outwardly shocking he was to most humans. Floyd repulsed her. Cheryll's job paraded all manner of freaks and geeks in front of her every day of the week. But extraterrestrials with fangs and claws? She stared and Floyd, half in pain and half in awe. It wanted to chat. She tried not to gag. Cheryll tossed out a pokeball to fill the silence and hide her fear. A monstrous electric spider appeared. She took a deep breath. Her first catch? She could hardly remember. Normally she had no problem shutting down and talkative trainers. She loved being the bitch. But Floyd scared the shit out of her, so she tried to think back. "A Spinarak," she spat. "Do you, uh, actually want to hear the story?" She remembered now but remained hopeful that the thing in front of her wasn't as happy to meet her as she thought.

"How many assholes we got on this ship anyhow?"

4LP OK. I've procrastinated enough I think. EV Idol: Speed: 255 Sp. Atk: 255 Yanmega Lvl 60 (Speed Boost) Charizard Lvl 88 (Blaze, Solarpower) Magnezone Lvl 74 (Sturdy) Genesect Lvl 82 (Download) Holding Burn Drive The woman's reaction wasn't lost to the nine year resident of Earth. It was nothing new, and no longer bothered him. Floyd had learned to take enjoyment from other people's discomfort. It wasn't a warm fuzzy pleasure - more like a sadistic indulgence. Floyd held his indifferent expression for now. The galvantula presented a challenge, and that's what he was here for. After all, there was much to battling than shouting out moves and letting your pokemon do their thing. It was an art. Listening to Cheryl's story was the furthest thing from his mind. Defend or retreat? The spider was faster. He owned one and knew it. However, once Lexx's Speed Boost kicked in, and with the strange assistance of the idol which maxed out her potential, her odds of first strike rose significantly. The problem was typing and whether the human would choose defensive or offensive. It would be too easy for the spider to fry the big dragonfly and keep going. It could also take a sinister approach more natural of its kind. Floyd saw the outcome of this first encounter before Cheryl called her first move. The odds were not in Lexx's favor. Only one thing would tip those odds, and that was keeping the woman distracted. "Yes, please do." Floyd replied, all manners and curiosity. "Lexx was my first bug type captured, but not my first owned. A spinarak was. I adopted her." Floyd's tail swished with delight as he spoke, his strategy was decided. It might not be a winning one, but he hadn't been lying when he said he was there to learn. "Lexx?" he called out to his bug. The dragonfly's flight path was interrupted, and she darted over for the coaching session. Being one of his oldest pokemon, she had learned enough of his language to afford him the luxury of subterfuge. "Cy'k slee tusah'dree ev vys." he stated carefully, to which the bug frowned and nodded in all seriousness. She had never fought a Galvantula. She wasn't used to not being the fastest on the field. "Vik'off cy krash'n. Hast'dree ur cy, nase kres sa'larr." His instructions were simple and would either work, or wouldn't. If this didn't work, Lexx would be taken out and the rest of the battle could have very poor odds depending on the actions of the spider. He placed a hand on her head to steady her nerves. "Cy'k setu'k. H-vys dree ghugh sa'drre." This assurance that one battle didn't win a war did nothing to help the bug feel any better. Lexx felt like the weight of the world was on her non existent shoulders as she zipped back out onto the field. Deception was her only defense. She went into an erratic flight pattern, all the while never losing track of the spider and what it was up to. Her goal was to charge in, as if she was attacking, and then dodge at the last minute. A surge of speed would kick in, sending her into a blur of a barrel roll and place her face to face with the arachnid, making eye contact in a desperate maneuver to put it to sleep. The bug's edginess appeared to be normal twitchy behavior for the big bug. Floyd remained calm. What would be would be.

4 ![]() "A Spinarak..." she repeated. Gym Leader Cheryl's eyes went into a daze as she remembered her first pokmon. "I was seven years old. A smart and clever little human girl. The other kids... they were stupid, and terrified of bug pokmon. I showed them how dumb they were! They tried hurting the spinarak so I stopped them. The spinarak shot sticky webs all over the other girls and made them scream! But not me, little Spinny knew I was different and he protected me. We got the other girls good." Her eyes were big and bright, like an insect's, and they sparkled with two conflicting emotions: her love for bugs and her disdain for other people. She buoyed her own chest and she flicked a long, spindly arm forward. "Just like we'll get you, now! Galvantula, set the field!" Her overly-tanned nose was high in the air, and her arm was still thrust forward. She stared at Floyd with a renewed sense of dislike, as though applying her entire childhood trauma to the alien creature in front of her now. She looked at the Yanmega through two narrowed slits, while her fingers danced in a strange, spider-like rhythm. The Galvantula on the floor threw up loads and loads of sticky green webs that coated the arena grossly. Lexx dove forward, and the Galvantula actually flinched, but Cheryl was firm and she made the spider hold its ground. "Stay alert, Galvantula, and show them who's faster! Agility!" Lexx rolled forward, as if to strike, all while expertly keeping up an energy shield to prevent physical damage. The Galvantula clicked its golden mandibles, realizing how fast the Yanmega was moving. The Galvantula glowed white; Lexx's huge menacing eyes glowed red. Both pokmon stared at one another.
"Hahah!" crowed Cheryl, because her Galvantula jumped away at the crucial moment. "I know enough about Yanmegas to expect a Speed Boost," she taunted, "but can your Yanmega keep up with my Galvantula's speed?" She threw her nose into the air, as high as it could possibly reach.

3LP EV Idol: Speed: 255 Sp. Atk: 255 Yanmega Lvl 60 (Speed Boost) Charizard Lvl 88 (Blaze, Solarpower) Magnezone Lvl 74 (Sturdy) Genesect Lvl 82 (Download) Holding Burn Drive The alien smiled pleasantly at the painted lady, as she rambled on about her childhood. He realized numbly that he couldnt relate. Hed been well liked as a child, the popular one, the cool kid whom everyone envied, the very thing this woman detested. Well, at least she might find pleasure from beating him. It meant his defeat would actually mean something to her. He noted her quick stab, a weak attempt to push his buttons. Floyd was not so easily unraveled. You actually care about me. He grinned, all teeth. All the other gym leadersthey merely went through the motions you know. Not like you at all. A touch of gentle goading sugar coated in fake charm and double meaning. The field was quickly coated in strands of shimmering white silk. To the alien it was a sight more beautiful than fallen snow. He was not a screaming human girl in a school yard. How little Cheryl knew about him. Outwardly, the alien shrugged, but in the dark confines of his brain he was calculating odds and taking chances. The previous plan resumed, uninterrupted. Very homey, you have lovely taste, the Scavian prattled on. Scavian silk is a much more malleable substance though. We build with it. He let a moment pass so the woman could wonder where the hell silk came from. You should have seen the architecture my mother could design; very reminiscent of the pre-Primordian period; feral and primitive. The chatter was a ploy to distract the woman. If she was as revolted by him as she seemed, embellishing on his less human qualities might eventually unsettle her enough to make a mistake. He was well aware that the spiders web was not exactly like the resinous glue his kind produced. Scavians were more like bees, in that respect. While Lexx darted in a blinding circle over the field, well above the danger, they each troubled over similar thoughts. Even if he could get her out of there safely, that web would cause problems for the others if they didnt get rid of it. Lexx, vys tusehn tusahfsk cy dom. He hissed urgently. (Lexx, you need to clean up this place.) Hys tusehn vys soo tusahdree krask, eva ksahsn. Soo vys tusahdreek oshn cy slenish!) (I need you to use Quick Attack, but not to injure. Use your speed to blow away the web!) The deep voiced orange reptile clicked and grunted his instructions. It was a tactic used before but it was risky business. Lexx needed absolute concentration to focus two entirely different powers into one harmonious result. If the enormous insect had been flying slowly enough, one could have seen the beads of sweat whipping from the soft chinks of her armor. One second passed, the gym whirled by her and one lap of the field was completed. Her massive eyes took in much from nearly all directions at once. The alien on one side, black threads of oily smoke dripping from his claws; the human on the other, standing in a cloud of perfume so thick it was nearly tangible; and then the spider, a mound of prickly yellow death at the center of his own glistening web. Another second ticked by, and the green ring of colored air blurred more still. The insects powerful wings, already pumping nitrous blood kicked up a whirl wind over the field. Invisible tendrils tore and yanked at the sticky strands. The maneuver was suicide. The spider was already crackling with energy, blue arcs snapping hungrily from each bristling hair of his back. Floyd forced himself to maintain a cool air of unperturbed calm. The dark creature lurking in his veins, superimposing her own thoughts and feelings, was largely responsible. Without her drug like detachment, he might well be standing in a pool of his own sweat. Another second ticked by Things

3 // Makeshift defog... I'll buy it !-x- "What... are you!?" Cheryl's words were forced out of her throat like a hiss, the hair on her arms on end and a distinct flash of insanity fogging her eyes. She didn't like the way he spoke to her; he had a sort of refined sophistication about him which grated at her ears. But as much as she was repulsed by his humanness, she was also secretly, deeply, attracted to his more insectile qualities. "What - what do you mean I'm not like the other Gym Leaders? Of course I am! If anything, I'm better than they are! You... gnat!" But the word had its own double-meanings, and she offered it hesitantly, as though she wasn't sure how she wanted him to take it. She shook her head and clenched her fists, allowing herself to be intoxicated instead by the heady smell of her thick perfume. She wasn't even watching - fixed instead on the Scavian's huge orange skull and the shape of his scowl - as Lexx did laps around her gym, gathering speed upon speed. The back of her mind held that the Yanmega would be fried soon, her Galvantula would take a hit, and the arena would be set for whatever other pokmon this... man... this... creature... would send out next. "Discharge," she said, curling her pink-painted lips into a sneer, all the while holding her gaze on Floyd as though studying him. Lexx did something fantastic, at that instant. She was a bullet, or a whip, and suddenly she came thrashing down from her laps around the stage like a streak of lightning itself. She had the wind at her mercy; she was Fujin and Aeolus combined. The Galvantula prepared itself to be hit, bracing itself tightly, but the attack never came. Instead, Lexx swept around the arena and severed all the sticky golden webs so they fell like glitter over the grass. Lexx cut through the air with her wings, leaving the Galvantula quivering. It was, as Floyd predicted, suicidal: the yellow Galvantula lifted its head up and, seeing all its work ruined, retaliated with a shock of golden electricity. Lexx fell, but not in vain. "How do you produce your silk, anyway?" ventured Cheryl, a little out of breath. {entry hazards cleared!} Galvantula 75 {Compound Eyes} || Speed +2 || 100%

"How many assholes we got on this ship anyhow?"

4LP The instant the massive dragonfly lost consciousness, Floyd felt the separation as a kick to his stomach. The oily black smoke which connected them snapped back like a rubber band, choking him. Had he not been expecting the insect's loss, the electrifying jolt which traveled along their inhuman link might have knocked him on his ass. Instead, he visibly flinched, something the preening woman would no doubt take great pleasure in. Floyd recalled the fallen bug, and purred something in gentle tones to the pokeball he held close to his face. With a gentle pat he returned the ball to his belt and considered the woman across the field. His next pokemon had been decided before Lexx's sacrifice, but his own game had just been given the opportunity for embellishment. "My race call themselves Scavian." he replied to her first question while toying with the next pokeball. He smiled to himself as he contemplated the last question. The smile turned to a grin. Throwing his head back, he opened his jaws impossibly wide. A bulge on each side of his neck throbbed, and two barb like projections at the back of his throat retracted. With as much drama as he could muster, he hacked up a wad of black phlegm and spat it on the floor several feet in front of him with a wet splat. Glistening strands trailed from the mass to his teeth, and he ran the back of his hand across his chin, breaking the fine filaments. "As malleable as clay for the first five minutes. Then it rapidly sets up like superglue. We build with it." He shrugged, and released his second pokemon while the human's eyes were still on the mess in the floor. The new arrival was also an insect, but not one that even the bug loving gym leader would have ever seen. This was one of Floyd's own deliberate design. Commissioned by the government, it was a science experiment gone wrong, and unlike his previous attempts, this one had flourished, even in the wind blasted icy terrain of Icicle Island. It's mother had bee destroyed, but it and its siblings remained at large. The insect's hard carapace was camouflaged, and possessed a distinctly primal undertone. Cybernetic implants cast the creature in a surreal, mechanical glow highlighted by the massive canon on its back. Black tendrils quickly snaked across the floor like shadows, snaring the unwitting monster with the invisible barbs. "This is Tuseh'kresah'n." the alien clicked in his foreign tongue. "He calls himself Grim." This last was said with a touch of misery. The reason why quickly becoming plain. With a haughty air, the insect clattered across the field and buzzed scathingly at the other. Grim analyzed his opponent and sneered in open disgust. The spider was fast if it already taken out the Lexx. This made the legendary classed insect wary, but did little douse his arrogance. "The human likes bugs?" Called the insect in perfect, vibrating English. "Then let's make this good." A low whine filled the room and steadily grew more shrill. Like a jet engine winding up, a bright glow washed over the weird insect's back. He targeted the spider in the center of the field. Floyd saw the flash before he heard the crack of thunder. A fireball blazed a trail between the two bugs...

4 Cheryl grinned. The weird alien thing really creeped her out, and the satisfaction she'd get from defeating it would be absolutely wonderful, the little bit of joy from his flinch just a prelude. Given how easily its first pokemon had gone down, she wasn't particularly worried about the battle. She couldn't really see Floyd as a 'he', to her, he just looked like nothing more than an alien. The feeling intensified when he spat out the disgusting black liquid, and she jumped back, despite the distance between it and her. She couldn't wait for this battle to be over, and for that monster to be out. She said nothing as the new Pokemon appeared on the battlefield. As a Gym Leader, she was supposed to be an expert on her chosen types of Pokemon, but this was something she'd never seen before. Was it related to the... Escavans? Scabees? Scafens? She forgot what species the alien was, but she didn't really appreciate something so new appearing in front of her. The bug spoke to her, and her eyes widened. The command she had meant to give to her Galvantula flew out of her mind almost instantly. Her opponent was similar to a pokemon, and its pokemon spoke like a human - she blinked, trying to focus. The Galvantula skittered around, as the weird pokemon began obviously charging up. Cheryl shook her head. "Galvantula, Dis-" A bolt of bright red fire shot towards Galvantula before either of them could react, Galvantula's speed entirely unhelpful with such a distraction. Cheryl winced, returning the slightly singed Galvantula to its pokeball, nodding to it in silent respect. She said nothing to the Scavian as she chose another pokeball from her belt and pulled it free, releasing it onto the field. A large black and red bird appeared in a shower of tiny embers. It cawed loudly, flapping its broad wings rapidly. It flew a few spiralling laps around the field as fast as it could, then dashed back, skimming over Cheryl's hair. Cheryl drew herself up tall. One pokemon down was hardly the end of a battle. It was time to show this alien just how much it didn't belong here.

3LP EV Idol: Speed: 255 Sp. Atk: 255 Charizard Lvl 88 (Blaze, Solarpower) Magnezone Lvl 74 (Sturdy) Genesect Lvl 82 (Download) Holding Burn Drive The score was one to one but the game was far from over. What the painted lady threw next at him was a surprise. It wasn't an insect at all, and it was a harsh reminder that this was a bug and flying type gym. Floyd's jaw dropping expression came not from this realization, for he was certainly prepared for such a thing, but from the fact he had thought a little too highly of the famous gym leader. The announcement had come on January the first. Kalbor had been destroyed. Floyd was still lazing about in bed, too depressed to move after learning his fiance had married his treacherous brother. Being among the higher ranks of the military, as General he not only knew about the relocation of the Kalbor species, he had been involved. Before he knew its name, Floyd had seen this species. It was only a few seconds. Just long enough to lock onto, and teleport a breeding pair from the ground to a holding cell on the ship, to the mountains of Opaddekka in the next breath. That was his part in the project, to speed the transportation along before it was too late. By the time Kalbor met its end, the new species had been establishing themselves for a mere three months and it was still only the first week of January. Floyd did the math in his head. Cheryl wasn't stupid and wouldn't have thrown a hatchling at Grim. The bird was too large to be one of the first younglings. This could only mean, she had somehow captured one the original breeding specimens! Yes, she thought she would meet his surprise with one of her own. After his startled reaction, he was sure she was convinced she had succeeded. Had she known the truth, she would not appear quite so smug. Her power play had revealed her weakness. Thinking on his feet, he recalled his Genesect and unleashed something that resembled a flying saucer. Gray was a machine, and with emotionless calculation, the hovering hunk of bolts examined the field. He was neither impressed nor worried. Everything he took in was simply a fact, a ratio, a statistic - nothing more and nothing less. Floyd though, was worried, something he seldom admitted, and never at all out loud. He could Type battle with the best of them, just as Cheryl was doing. Floyd was gambling that this piece of military genius was stronger than a species of bird that couldn't have been in the hands of the public for more than a few weeks. Cheryl might have surprised him with a brand new pokemon, but she didn't realize he knew how little time she could have trained with it. This was no malleable young-ling, it was an adult raptor yanked right out of the wild, away from its mate, and away from its nest. Floyd was not only gambling that Gray was more experienced with battling, but more comfortable working with a trainer in a controlled setting like the gym. Gray was a military pokemon, this was what he was designed for. The wild avian flapping with rage across the field - who knew? "Alright Gray. Stand your ground. These birds were quick on the wing when we were tracking them over Kalbor. Just hang in there, let it come to you, and then fry the shit out of it." A skull's grin flashed across the field at the human. He had spoken English intentionally. It was another subtle move in the side game he was playing against her emotional resilience. She thought she had one upped him. It was time to see how she reacted to Floyd knowing more about her secret than she did. 3 Cheryl scowled. Her Talonflame was mainly a shock tactic, something to get trainers confused and worried. If this alien could throw new things at her, she could do the same. But of course, the alien was connected with the military. All she could hope for now was for her Talonflame to obey her orders and not do anything stupid. Even if her confudion tactic hadn't worked, Talonflame was still a powerful pokemon, and most likely faster than the hunk of metal he pulled out. "Alright Talonflame, just like we practiced, alright? Start with some Flamethrowers, and keep your distance!" she called, trying to push her distaste as far down and invisible as possible. The last thing she needed was for the alien to latch onto any flaw in her veneer. The bird was a lot faster than Gray, and she soared around the battlefield almost faster than it could track her. With a loud caw, she released a thick stream of flame towards it, enveloping it in bright red and leaving it charred around the edges. But before her trainer could react, she dove down after the flame, surrounding herself with it, and approached the electric giant at high speed. Cheryl's eye twitched. Her gamble certainly hadn't been worth it - as strong as she was, the Talonflame wasn't a fully-trained Pokemon, relying mostly on surprise and speed to claim victory. Just as the Talonflame made flaming contact with Gray's steel surface, it released a huge wave of electrical energy. The sparks and flames blocked much of the fight from easy viewing, until both Pokemon fell back, both slightly singed. While Grey merely tipped back and managed to right himself, twirling his magnets slowly, the Talonflame was shot back a few feet by the sheer power of the electrical current, and lay still on the ground. "A good choice of pokemon," she grudgingly said to Floyd as she returned her own. This was not going half as well as she had hoped. This goddamn alien was really showing her up, as much as she tried to keep up the facade. Perhaps it was time to bring out the big guns. "Let's see how you deal with this one." She tossed another pokeball onto the field, trying to remain casual. In front of her, the burst of light cleared to display a large blue dragon, which leaned forward and roared at the pokemon in front of him.

"How many assholes we got on this ship anyhow?"
|
4LP With the odds now even, Floyd could breathe a little easier. The game of distract and intimidate seemed over as the humans small talk petered out and his postured stiffened to a more guarded pose. I commend you for capturing one of the breeding specimens so quickly, he replied with a modest shrug. You could not have had it long, but already its a force to be reckoned with. A traded compliment was only fair, particularly when it was the truth. Gray was a reliable piece of machinery and had proven itself to be a worthy foe this time. There were few battles the General ever entered into without his old military partner by his side. The machine though, was still a machine, and its steel hull had been blackened and warped by the intense heat of the foreign pokemon. Another hit would certainly put Gray out of the battle. Floyd took a deep breath upon seeing the Salamence flap its massive wings and roared at the indifferent hunk of bolts and circuitry. The dragon had little to fear from anything and preferred to make its kills up close and personal. This was a problem for Gray - for the aliens entire team. So far, all of the Gym Leaders pokemon had been able to outmatch his in speed. He could feel the tenuous link between himself and the machine - that black thread that tied him to the Hydra god. Only its otherworldly strength gave Gray a chance in hell to beat the dragon to the first punch. Those odds were not good enough for a soldier who erred on the side of caution. He wasnt willing to sacrifice another pokemon if he didnt have to. He had already been disgraced by Lexxs fall. It was time to switch. Gray was recalled from the field by a tether of light and the alien now studied the two pokeballs left to him. The Genesect was a foolish choice, given that it was an insect. He grimaced at the thought. He had hoped to see more bugs in this battle, what the leader was most famous for, but so far, one spider was it. His disappointment hung about him like a dark cloud and he was unable to hide his mounting displeasure. Decision made, he released Pyro, his powerhouse. A ferocious monster with a surely disposition materialized in the field. He spread his wings, stretching them and gave them a flap or two, buffeting his trainer with wind. Floyds relationship with the dragon was hardly more than an understanding. They worked together, but that didnt mean Pyro liked his trainer. They had been partners far longer than the alien and Gray had been, been through more, survived more, but only respect kept them working together. Pyro craned his neck, following the other dragon across the field with his narrowed eyes. His tail wriggled, throwing sparks, and his lips peeled back in a fanged snarl. He hissed with deep pleasure, seeping tendrils of inky smoke from his flared nostrils. He cast one quick glance at Floyd. That glance would communicate the battle plan. Their common ground was hit hard, and hit fast. The alien nodded, short, concise, and accompanied with a nervous huff of air. It was this last that told Pyro what to do. Floyd could not have told Pyro what attack to use if hed wanted to. Pyro was too headstrong and relied on simplified communication in which he felt he was free to interpret as he wished. The aliens agitation simply said dont fool around. The overgrown lizard took this to mean, dont play with your food. The key word was food, and scenting the other as a true dragon, while himself was merely a pretender, Pyro trumpeted a grating roar before tearing after the other in a maddened rage, his claws and fangs dripping a steely blue energy. 3 Cheryl said nothing. There was nothing more to be said. No amount of wordplay or distraction was going to help her against this military man. She was down to her penultimate pokemon and, as strong as he was, she wouldn't be surprised if the pseudo-dragon ahead of him was stronger. Nonetheless, she was a gym leader; she had a responsibility to do the very best she could. Her Salamence stomped the floor, leaning forward towards Pyro and roaring. He could not let his trainer down. He turned back to his trainer, questioningly. "Thunder Fang. Go," she said, simply, her hands clenched into fists of frustration. Salamence snapped its head around to face Pyro, who was already building up a beam of darkly iridescent energy, and charged forwards. Pyro roared, the energy streaming out in a beam that slammed into Salamence's shoulder, slowing, but not stopping his movement. The blue dragon shook himself with a grunt and continued to charge forward, his jaws beginning to crackle with electricity. He slammed into Pyro's neck jaws-first, sending yellow sparks dancing down his body. Pyro roared, swinging his head with what little maneuverability he had left, before glaring at the dragon attached to him and swiftly released another beam of energy at him. Salamence released his hold, sliding back a few feet. He clamped his mouth down on Pyro's tail as he flailed it around and shocked the lizard again. Pyro managed to flick him off with a growl. Both beasts paused for a moment, sizing up the competition. Neither was in perfect condition, but each could still fight.

"How many assholes we got on this ship anyhow?"

3LP Floyd was on pins and needles. This was the part of battles that left his head whirling with an adrenaline high - anything goes and victory could easily swing either way. The alien was sure his snarling ill tempered lizard was more nimble footed and quicker on the wing than his opponent. He forced himself to swallow the swelling feeling of confidence. As humans say, don't count your chickens before they hatch, and the battle wasn't over, nor was the challenge, and when he looked at the situation that way, his pride fizzled back down to modest proportions. His own team was not in the best of shape, and the bug lady still had one more unknown to hurl in his path toward victory. "Come on Pyro, you almost got him! He might have the typing, but you're the better dragon. Now prove it!" the alien bellowed from the sidelines. He was no longer interested in trying to intimidate the woman. She knew his game now and wasn't about to let him continue unnerving her. The odds were too close and the stakes were too high. This battle had become a matter of pride for both trainers as well as their pokemon. Pyro fumed, irritated, his scales bristling with fury that his foe was still on his feet. His lips pulled back revealing rows of jagged teeth. His head shook side to side, slinging strings of boiling, steaming drool spiraling through the air. The monster charged, his jaws opened wide, roaring, and his wings thumping through the air like the beat of a drum.

4 ![]() The scowl on Cheryl's face was gone, replaced with a nigh-emotionless tenseness, her entire being focused now on the battle before her. Salamence was weakened, and, while the alien's dragon was too, there was no doubt that either could leave this battle defeated. Her reputation as a gym leader was on the line here. "Salamence, show this creature what a true dragon looks like!" she said, that little bit of showmanship that all her pokemon were accustomed to still shining through her concentration. "Dragon Claw, now!" The two beasts took to the air, their combined roaring deafening and vibrating the entire building around them. The beating of their wings stirred up the dust and dirt on the ground. The room was lit with a purplish glow as the two pokmon prepared their attacks as they came closer, Pyro opening his mouth wide and Salamence raising himself higher in the air as his outstretched claws prepared to slash down. They were barely feet from each other when the two attacks collided, the resulting dust and smoke cloud blocking the result from view, until a large, blue and red mass thudded into the ground as Pyro soared towards the sky, roaring triumphantly. Cheryl tensed, pulling herself up as she reached for Salamence's pokeball and returned him. She said nothing. The time for pleasantries and congratulations would come later, but this battle was not yet over. A battle is never over until it's over, and no matter how the odds seemed, there was always a chance for victory. "It's your time to shine," she said quietly to her last remaining pokeball, before releasing the towering, brightly coloured bug onto the battlefield, where it stomped and roared at Pyro. "Your move," she said simply.

Pyro spiraled about the room, spewing trails of flame in his quake in his victory dance. The dragon's strut was less than humble, but Pyro had always been full of himself. The cocky beast landed in front of his trainer, flicking his blazing tail in front of the alien's face haughtily. Floyd wafted the torch away with a snarl. "A little humility wouldn't hurt for the sake of professionalism, pal." He spat softly at the beast. Pyro turned and snorted a cloud of black in his face, not caring in the least. Hacking and coughing, it wasn't until this haze cleared that the General saw the next, and final opponent. The scolipede was beautiful, surely the finest specimen of the species he had ever seen. Certainly more glorious than his own squeamish and overly cautious Mantrid. The creature with its gleaming armor, took his breath away. The insect was like a undulating jewel that pranced delicately about the area, full of grace and deadly precision. "Your scolipede is the most handsome of his kind I've yet to witness." He exclaimed, unable to help the compliment in spite of the tense finality of the battle. "You are a credit to trainers, but most assuredly, to bug types." He said no more, because he knew Pyro, viscous and ill mannered as he was, was fleeter of foot and wing even without the dark aura of the idle flowing through his veins. It would add insult to injury to utilize an overpowered attack with the dragon as puffed up and pampas as he currently was. Yet, it would be foolish to drag the battle out and use anything other than a fire type move. It was expected, and Floyd couldn't disappoint. "Don't over do this one, Pyro. An Ember will do, and you know it." he hissed softly at the lizard's back. Pyro shuddered with revulsion. Ember was an attack for unschooled charmanders. Even if his attitude didn't change his mind, he was presently unable to curb his bite with his furnace stoked and blazing hot. With a growl of revulsion, he sneered, and snapped his head, belching forth the lightest wave of heat that he was currently capable of. It was no Ember, but nor had he gone for a Flare Blitz. It was a simple Flamethrower, and deadly enough for even the dazzling insect. 3 Cheryl didn't even get a chance to issue an attack, which would have been a last-ditch effort Rollout, before Pyro swooped in. Even without the idol, even without the blaze boost, it still would have been a complete knock out. The scolipede went up in flames and collapsed, withdrawn almost immediately. Cheryl hadn't even put the ball away. She was a bitch, but she wasn't stupid. "Take it and get out," she tossed the badge, the money, and a TM on the ground and turned to walk away haughtily, still sneering despite getting her ass kicked. Eh, some people are just like that. Fortunately, Floyd should never have to see her again. Anywho, go get your stuff and you're done! Pyro gets 1.3 EXP Floyd gets the Rimsky Badge, 6000z, and your choice of the Aerial Ace or Silver Wind TM |
