Slumber Gym was quiet, as it had been for many months now. A girl had come asking about a hedgehog then, and before that a man with limitless might stepped upon this stone floor and asked to be taught. Today, a woman with the heart of a fox stepped from the shadows and into the gym. Elijah had already told her what he had done for this particular badge, and given that Eisen was starting to feel a little bored, she figured she would give it the same shot. After all... it was just another legendary. Eisen appeared from the shadows in the first room, glancing around silently to make sure she was alone. Upon confirming that she was, she reached into her vest and pulled out Coyote, placing him up on her shoulder. The pair looked around, Eisen's attention falling to the slippers that they were supposed to wear instead of shoes. It reminded her of Jugem, which had the dojo floor that couldn't be walked on with shoes either. Eisen rolled her dual-colored eyes. "You fucking men and your- fine, fine, I don't gain anything by bitching about it." The demon woman stowed her shoes away, and while she was dealing with the slippers, Vanguard the zoroark jumped from a shadow and went into the main room alone. Coyote and Eisen glanced at each other, the woman hurrying to slip the socks on to catch up to her fox. Luckily, Vanguard wasn't wrecking anything, instead sitting on the polished onyx and looking around. Only the fox and the bird were out for the moment, but since Eisen knew owning a legendary was part of the apprenticeship here, she decided to get out both of her own. Gale the Lugia was only about the size of a small chicken, and thus still fit comfortably in Eisen's arms, which is where he rested now. He looked around, cradled in one arm while Eisen let out her other legend. Doc was older then gale, but still young. Eisen liked to think that he was in the 'lanky adolescent' stage, given that he still wasn't full height, but he was getting there. At least he'd stopped asking 'why' every three seconds. "Don't be nervous," Eisen whispered down to Gale, gently scratching his head as the group headed a bit further into the gym proper. "So," the woman said with full voice, smirking a little. The sound echoed in the great chamber, built like a throne room... including a throne itself. Of course Elijah had told her that Samson was waiting there. "Surprised?" This technically ends up being Eisen's canon thread, even though IC wise it happened a month or so ago. Timelines man, fuck 'em. Anyway. Party: Honchkrow (100), Jolteon (100), Zoroark (100), Salamence (100), Mewtwo (52), Lugia (50) APL: 83.66 Requesting the gym apprenticeship. Eventually. 3 ![]() Samson had gotten wind of Eisen's impending arrival, and he was indeed waiting for her in the throne room. The gym leader was sitting on the throne, in fact. Just to add to the effect, really. Because why go to the trouble of constructing a throne room in your gym if you weren't going to sit in the throne every now and then? Upon seeing Eisen enter, he stood, and walked towards the trainer and her two legendary pokémon. "Not surprised so much as... intrigued." He began, glancing between the Lugia and the Mewtwo. "I make it a habit to keep tabs on trainers who manage to acquire legendary pokémon. You never know when one of them will turn up here." The fact that Eisen had a Mewtwo could mean only one thing, which was Samson's next choice of topic. "So someone finally tracked down Zodiark. He always was an unstable one. A shame Jolt never sought me out - he would have done well here, I think." The gym leader shook his head. "I'm getting off track. You've come here for one of two reasons, I expect. Either you're looking for a gym battle, or you want an apprenticeship. If your Mewtwo and Lugia are any indication, I'll be happy to accommodate either request." |

3 Eisen couldn't help but to smirk a little, feeling high and mighty even though she had no reason to, when Samson got up from his throne and approached. She got to the middle of the gym and stopped to wait, flanked by Doc and Vanguard. The little-ish Mewtwo tilted his head when the legendary gym leader looked at him, only looking curious but not afraid at all. When Samson looked at Gale, though, the little shadow Lugia hissed and awkwardly scrambled up to sit on Eisen's head and hiss again, nesting there. His trainer frowned, looking up but making no move to dislodge him. "Gale, calm down," she waited to see if he calmed down before looking back at the gym leader, having momentarily forgotten him. The little legend wasn't going to do anything, that much Eisen was sure of, but he was sitting all fluffed up on Eisen's head, and she wasn't sure why. "He's still as much of an asshole as he was before, if you were curious. Zodiark, that is," she said, looking at Doc but not really looking at him. Of course, wherever Jolt was, she assumed he was most definitely still an asshole too. Then there was sweet, gentle Doc, who was watching Samson curiously still, his head tilted practically on its side. "I was kind of looking for the apprenticeship. Great as these two are, they're still not trained up how I'd like," she reached up to try and pull her hat and Gale off, but only managed to pull her hat off. Gale stepped down when she pulled her hat away, getting his talons all tangled up in her hair and gripping her head with his wings. He was acting like a little feathery tinfoil hat, and Eisen couldn't figure out why. Doc wasn't acting weird. |

3 ![]() "Wouldn't you be, in his position?" Samson quipped. Cook up a genetically engineered pokémon in the lab designed specifically for power and destruction, said pokémon will probably end up with a massive superiority complex. On the topic of apprenticeship, he nodded. "Of course, I will gladly take you on as my apprentice. I see you already meet the prerequisites." Simple enough. Eisen had at least one legendary pokémon, so she was in. Samson wasted no time in outlining his philosophy on training, and what he expected of his new apprentice. "Personally, I'm not one for theoretical learning. I leave poring over dusty tomes in a library to the likes of Ivan. I much prefer a practical approach to pokémon training. The best way to learn about the capabilities of any pokémon, not just legendaries, is to fight with or against them. That way, you can see for yourself what they can do, and how the obstacles they present can be overcome." He started to stroll back towards the throne, gesturing for Eisen to follow. "I will give you one piece of wisdom, perhaps the most important thing you can learn about legendary pokémon." He stopped next to teh throne, and looked Eisen straight in the eye. "Legendary pokémon... are pokémon." How very profound. The gym leader followed it up. "I know, it seems obvious. But think about what that statement implies. Legendary pokémon are pokémon. They are affected by everything that regular pokémon are. That includes standard pokémon attacks. It includes abilities like Mold Breaker and Intimidate." He reached behind the throne, and produced a familiar object. "It includes pokéballs." "Legendary pokémon are still pokémon. Your Mewtwo and Lugia will not make you invincible, even when they are fully trained. But you can maximise their potential by learning about their strengths and weaknesses, and adapting your battling style accordingly." What would Eisen have to do as an apprentice? She already knew, but Samson explained anyway. "As for your apprenticeship, to meet the requirements for the Mythos Badge, your task is simple. Track down and capture a legendary pokémon. I want to see how you go about hunting a legendary pokémon from scratch, so your target will be chosen by fate." Samson reached behind the throne again, and produced a tray of pokéballs. Forty-eight of them, in fact. "Inside each of these pokéballs is a different legendary pokémon. Select one, and whichever pokémon is released will be your ultimate objective as an apprentice." Before any selection was done, he removed three pokéballs from the tray. "I've removed Mewtwo and Lugia, as you already have them. I've also removed Phione, since you would first have to catch Manaphy. You wouldn't learn anything about Phione if you went on that quest." ~~~~~ You know the drill, but here it is anyway. There are 45 legends that Eisen doesn't own, not counting Phione or anything in Gen VI (poems aren't out yet). Pick a number between 1 and 45, and I will tell you what pokémon that corresponds to on my randomised list. Catch and hatch that pokémon, return here, get the badge. |

3 ![]() Eisen slowly looked over at Doc, who had tilted his head the other way as he continued to listen quietly. "Guess it depends on how they were brought up." Doc glanced sideways at her and smiled a little before going back to studying Samson. The little psychic pushed off of the floor and hovered along when Eisen moved to follow the gym leader, listening to what he was saying... mostly. She was partially trying to see if she could eyeball how old Samson was; while Eisen may not have been a trainer for the longest time, she had still traveled a lot and seen a lot of things. But, hey, if he wanted to test her capabilities. "I sort of figured that out when I caught Lugia with one dusk ball," she smirked when Samson produced the ball and made his point. After all... Eisen didn't need pokemon at all to be invincible; not that he knew this. The rest of it was things she'd already heard from Elijah, and she waited until the tray came out. Here was the bit that made her unsure... not that she didn't think she couldn't handle anything in that tray, but not every legend seemed worth her time and effort. But, well, she supposed that was why she decided on doing this; maybe get into something she wouldn't have on her own. When she was indicated, she reached out without thinking, plucking the seventh pokeball from it, "How about lucky seven?" |

3 ![]() Lucky seven. Samson took the selected pokéball from Eisen's hand, and tripped the release mechanism. The light that burst forth from the ball shaped itself, and grew to impressive proportions. When the glow faded, the pokémon stood in front of Eisen spread its impressive wings, and let out a defiant cry. "Reshiram, the Vast White pokémon." Samson said. "Legend says it is the champion of Truth." If only he knew how deliciously ironic this outcome was. "This is your test. Find Reshiram, and return here with its avatar. Once you've done that, the badge is yours, and your apprenticeship will be complete." The gym leader put the tray away, back behind the throne. "If you have any questions about Reshiram, or about any legendary pokémon, I'll be happy to answer them." With certain obvious restrictions, of course. No asking where Reshiram is, because that would be telling. |

3 i am dyingEisen nearly tossed the ball to him, but decided against it, instead simply handing it over. When her fate was revealed, she at first quirked an eyebrow at it, not impressed until it roared. Its cry resonated in her chest oddly, enough to wipe the unimpressed look off of her face. "Huh," was all she could manage after that, any sarcasm or snark dying before it could get out. Samson explained that the legend told that it was the creature of truth, which made Eisen frown and tilt her head at it. To her surprise, Reshiram tilted its head back at her, blue eyes cold like ice. "Ah-" she started a little at the sound of the tray going away, and the gym leader talking again. Her eyes went to the ceiling as she considered his question, looking at Reshiram again. "No questions," she said simply, finally tearing her eyes away from the dragon. "I'll get it done." Eisen reached up to tip her hat at him, only to remember that she was holding her hat, and Gale had taken its place. Now, the tiny psychic bird was giving Reshiram a nasty look, but not hissing since it was so much bigger then he was. Doc was also watching the white legendary, though he was only frowning now. The two pokemon flanking her got tapped on the head, and Eisen gestured for the door, which they turned and headed out. Even though she could leave immediately to go complete the quest, she didn't feel the need to rush. She decided she'd tackle it when she felt motivated to do so. While Eisen was getting her shoes back on, Doc looked back at Samson and Reshiram. The little psychic crossed his arms and seemed to pout, but left without a word when they were ready. I still have this listed as Eisen's canon thread, so using it to spend some LP. 100 LP to Eisen's Talon starter, bringing her to 60, then another 40 LP to bring her to 64, she evolves to zweilous at 62, and then Hydreigon at 64.
