Go for it, run towards it, dive in head first. Live life with no regrets!
The night was moonless, and the water calm. High above, each star glittered above without interruption, save for the occasional spark of brilliant swamp gas in the distance from the next pond over. The swamp was covered in shadows, and a slight breeze blew.

A woman stepped from the darkness, in as plain of clothes as Eisen normally wore. She had a bird at her shoulder, and after she tipped a ball from her hand, she was flanked by a yellow pincushion that occasionally passed as a dog. Bunker stood in ankle-deep water, but looked as intent and determined as he always did. He was a pro at this sort of thing.

Silently, the woman from the darkness reached into a pocket, producing a silver feather that shimmered even when there was no light at all. She held it up in front of her, towards the bay, and smiled.

"Here birdy, birdy, birdy."

Noncanon, stopping from the ocean in any town changing party around, then teleporting directly to Great Bay, since Eisen has been here before.

Party: Coyote, Ripper Roo, Bunker, Vanguard, Jack Noir, Abyss
APL: does it really matter, Lugia is 70 anyways?

Lugia bossfight. I'd like to just do the chatbattle and I'll write up the whole encounter myself.

Ready whenever you are, Frac.

Kinda assuming you're in the right place, aren't you? Who's to say that Lugia will show up in the Great Bay rather than one of the other perfectly apt places in the marshlands, and that you've happened to stumble upon the correct landmark?

As it turns out, you are in the right place. Lucky Eisen.

Just posting to say that yes, Lugia is here, and will show up in an appropriately grandiose fashion. Maybe rising up from the waters or something - it is quite large. 50 LP is yours, and there's another 50 on offer if the chatbattle goes well and if you catch it.

Carry on.

Here's what happened

So yeah. Eisen somehow manages to capture Lugia with a single Dusk Ball. This is why we have write-ups.

Go ahead and write this up.

(this is the third time now seriously Down+B is broken)

I'll just leave this here, like I always do.

At first the bay was just a plane of perfect, dark glass with no light to reflect. Eisen could only make it out vaguely because of her powers, otherwise the moonless night completely dark. She waited, holding the emblem up like a silver beacon in the night.

(I somehow feel like I'm missing something… like a bell or an ocarina or something,) she thought distantly, scanning the water.

Suddenly, movement, out near the middle of the bay. Bubbles broke the surface of the water, which in turn started to churn, spreading outwards from the center. Eisen's cocky smile faded quickly, turning to a frown as her arm slowly lowered. A silver-white mass surged out among the thrashing water, twisting in a circle. Blue, mostly square fins flicked up from the silver before the beast turned and started towards them, sinuously powering through the water like a crocodile. Eisen saw a flash of bright blue eyes before Lugia's wings came up and pushed hard out of the water, hovering before them from the sheer force of its own power. The glowing blue eyes faded back to plain black and white, and the legendary bellowed.

A shiver ran the full length of Eisen's body when she realized what she'd gotten herself into. Even with immortality on her side, it was still as thrilling as it would be if her life was on the line. Especially considering that the legend before her was gigantic, and still glimmered as if struck by moonlight.

(Oh boy.)

Lugia dove for them, knifing through the air much faster than it would move in the water, at least in a straight line. Eisen pocketed the feather first, afraid to lose it, and jumped out of the way to let the legend scream past.

"That is one big ass bird," Eisen breathed, pushing out of the muck and turning to watch. Coyote had taken off before the trainer had dived, and now he and Bunker moved to intercept. There was very little in the world that was faster than the jolteon, much less able to keep up with him at all, so the yellow and white dog was off like a rocket to intercept.

Electricity crackled between his pins, condensing into a small bolt that hit the silver legend straight in the chest, stopping the beast in midair with a pained shudder. The small, black bird landed right in front of the suffering legend, and raised both wings in a rude gesture.

"Fuck you, motherfucker!"

"That's one way of doing it," Eisen mumbled after the taunt, watching Lugia go into a rage. With an easy flick of its wings, the legendary summoned rocks from the bottom of the bay to fling at the offensive bird. Eisen winced in sympathy as they connected, but Coyote was back in the sky in no time.

"Alright you asshole, get back here!" she called to her bird, holding up her hands. Bunker was watching as he darted around, trying to keep the legend's attention off of them. Once the bird was safely off of the field, Bunker whipped around in place and cut loose.

The giant shockwave of electricity ripped over the entire bay, lighting up everything with bright yellow and white. Eisen winced away from it on instinct, though the power fizzled out inches away from them. It hit Lugia full on in the face, and Eisen was surprised to see that it made the giant bird shudder again, faltering in the air. It didn't falter enough, summoning more rocks from under the surface to smash into Bunker. Eisen smirked in a satisfied way when she saw that it did little to nothing.

"Alright, you stay here," she whispered down to her bird, pulling a ball from her belt and releasing what was inside. She'd nearly left Ripper Roo behind but he was the only one with a reliable method of putting wild pokemon to sleep, even if he was underleveled.

Underleveled, and with a type disadvantage, Ripper Roo still started giggling like a maniac as soon as he was able, bouncing into the shallows as the legend floundered. It would be in their best interest to blind it, or so went Bunker's logic, so he gathered up a paw full of mud and hurled it at the legend's eyes. Instead of doing anything of the sort, the blob of mud wetly plopped back into the water without even reaching Lugia.

"...Bunk, what the fuck was that?"

"...the sun was in my eyes?"

Rip had much better aim, inhaling through his mouth and exhaling a shower of spores from the mushroom cap on his head. It was more than enough to put the legend out, and Lugia crashed to the muck at the edge of the water, going limp.

The group had moved when the legend crashed down, and now Eisen crept closer, to the slumbering titan. She hadn't realized just how big this damn thing was.

"Well," she breathed to the bird on her shoulder. "No time like the present."

To start out with, Eisen pulled a single dusk ball from her pocket, and threw it at the middle of the hulking legendary. Like it was supposed to, the sphere sucked the beast of the water into its confines, dropping into the mud below the surface. Eisen crossed her arms and leaned back slightly, waiting for the explosion of water when the legend broke out.

Under the water, the ball wiggled in the silt before stilling, the catch release on the front glowing red through the water.

"...are you fucking kidding me?" Eisen was waiting for the inevitable failure that never came. If she had owned a pokedex, it would have signaled a successful capture. Of a legendary. With a single dusk ball.

"Did that seriously just-?" she looked around, like she was expecting to wake up. Stepping closer, she waited for something to happen, right until she was next to it.

She reached into the water to pick the dusk ball up, "Well, I'm certainly not going to complain."

Then the ball broke.

The immediate area exploded with water and mud like a bomb had gone off, and Lugia bellowed an angry screech, wings flinging out and up. It caught Eisen, standing right there, and flung her back into the bay. Coyote squawked with alarm, being knocked away. But the legend twisted its head and bellowed a concentrated column of air that took the black bird out of the sky. Rip didn't stand a chance against even a gust of air from the flying type, and toppled over with a wave of Lugia's wing. Even Bunker got swatted away, taken by surprise.

Lugia was looking around for another target when the water behind it started to bubble and froth again. A snake-like body slithered from the bay, the water suddenly becoming still just before the pointed nose broke the surface, followed by the horns and the rest of the body.

The silver legend certainly hadn't expected to fight another legend. And this one wasn't even the right color.

Hovering over the water, the red and black Rayquaza growled, lips pulled back and eyes glowing red and blue. Inside the beast, Eisen knew that she had none of Ray's actual power, but she certainly had all of his intimidation, and his rage.

The red dragon bellowed and charged, barely missing Lugia as the silver dragon arced higher into the air. Eisen twisted in the air and followed, turning nearly on herself in a second. It was only this maneuverability that gave Eisen the window to lunge forward and bury her fangs into the silver pokemon's tail. Lugia screeched in pain and twisted to kick at the dragon's eyes, though Eisen ignored it and clawed up the bird's tail to lunge forward, struggling to wrap around the thrashing legend.

Feeling like it was in very real danger, Lugia tucked its wings in and fell for the water like a rock, splashing down and disappearing below the surface. Bunker and Coyote had recovered, and watched as the pair disappeared into the darkness. They looked at each other when a minute or two had passed; they weren't afraid for Eisen's life, really, but they were still concerned.

The red dragon's head broke the surface a moment later, taking in a giant gulp of air. She snorted water from her nose and slithered through the water towards them.

"You alright?"

"Of course I'm alright. I only remembered that I don't need to breathe after I let it go," she explained, holding a claw up once she reached the shore, letting Coyote flutter over and land on it. "I managed to wrap myself around its fucking neck and body, so I think it got scared. Where's the egg?"

Bunker and Coyote looked at each other again.

"...you guys."

I got it! Vanguard materialized out of the darkness, holding up the egg in her paws. Eisen frowned at it, reaching out a claw to gently take it.

"It's… black. What did you do?" she squinted at the egg, trying to see it. Even with it being dark, there was a distinctive silver sheen on the egg, but the actual color was still as black as the night.

I didn't do nuthin'! the demon fox insisted, crossing her arms and sticking her nose in the air. Eisen chuckled, squirming forward and melting at the same time, reforming into herself, half covered in mud and soaking wet. Coyote was perched on one arm, the egg was held in the other.

"Right." Bizarre colors aside, it was definitely an egg from the legendary. She could feel the power pulsing within it, same as with Doc's egg. At least Lugia's egg was more… conventional. Looking down at herself, she sighed at the mud everywhere. "Well…" she was about to call it a night, but a sudden spout of exploding gas from the next landmark over made her turn her head and look.

She did have a promise to keep, after all.

"Let's… go visit someone, huh Coyote?" she smiled at her black bird, withdrawing Rip after she put Coyote on her shoulder. Bunker looked confused, since it was something like 3 AM, but followed after his master anyways, towards the will-o-wisps in the distance.
