Go for it, run towards it, dive in head first. Live life with no regrets!
Obviously a WIP for now, just had to write down this imagery before I forgot it.

Trying something new with this. Actually trying to write something worth a shit, too.

Steely was shaking as she reached for the ring on the chain, half from adrenaline and half from fear. The smell of gunpowder lingered in her nostrils, reminding her of things she begged to forget. Her fingers closed around the gold ring, and she lifted it away from the asphalt, stopped by the chain connecting it to the dead woman's neck. The blonde had to adjust for leverage, getting better stability with her cane and setting her revolver down. It wasn't like there was anyone around to take it.

Thus adjusted, she yanked sharply, breaking a chain she had broken once before, years ago. She froze. Silence. Waiting. Wondering if a knife would flash. Thinking this had all been a trick.

The black haired woman didn't stir, aside from the small puddle of blood pooling around her head and the faint but acrid smell of electricity burning.

All the tension of the situation broke, and Steely started laughing. She would have liked to say that it was an unnatural laugh, but the way the laughter bubbled out, unhinged and unrestrained, was nothing new to her or her friends. It died down quickly, when she realized how alarming it sounded bouncing off of the empty street. The whole ring and chain was shoved into one of the inner pockets of her coat, not even being mindful of the film of blood on the gold and silver metal.

Steely almost felt like she wanted to say something poetic, but nobody would have heard it anyway. And she was never good at that sort of thing. She stood with slight difficulty, leaning more heavily on her cane then she would have liked to. It hadn't broken, luckily, but it was blackened from fire and had seen better days. She'd have a look at it when she got home.

(Get the bullets so the cops can't trace it,) the ruthless piece in the back of her mind whispered. Steely replaced the empty revolver at her side, and held her hand above the body, squinting in concentration. With enough focus, moving the slugs was as easy as simply reaching out and grabbing them. The five chunks of .38 caliber metal zipped up with a wet tearing noise, straight into the open hand waiting for them. They were definitely bloody and dirty with things Steely didn't want to think about, and those were placed in an outer coat pocket so she could hurry up and forget about them.

They didn't even say anything more, both of them picking up on the faint wailing of sirens. She reached with practiced ease to her belt, grabbing a pure white sphere.

There was a flash of green and white, a giant dog, and then nothing.
