The fog here was so immense even Winston had to slow to a crawl to navigate it successfully. Visibility was almost zero, Albion almost unable to see the flicker of his mount's flame against the encroaching fog. It was slightly worrying, but it did help that he'd been here before and knew how to navigate the mists to some degree. Besides, his Pokétech told him exactly where he needed to go. He didn't quite want to go straight north, and with the voice of Shirley, his ship's AI, still in his ear he could make his way around quite effectively. Winston kept going on through the fog as he did but more importantly Albion was worried about Alex. His own eyes were watering from the fact that this fog was thicker than his mother's delicious banana thickshakes and it was not a particularly pleasant feeling. Instead, he chose to consult with his travelling partner. "How are you holding up in here, Alex?" he asked, entirely concerned for her well-being. Not to mention the fact that both of his hands had not moved. |

3 She was freezing and glaring at the fog. A damn clone of Herp Derp was going to fly out of the fog and hit her right in the forehead like the derps they were. She hunched down over Winston's neck, trying to keep her forehead out of target range. Alex shivered against Albion. She should have worn heavier clothing but they weren't going to be spending forever in the frozen fog, right? Right. "C-cold... Not li-liking that I c-can't see wh-where the He-herp D-derps are coming from bef-fore they h-hit," she grumpt, teeth chattering. Now would be a grand time to conjure fire or be magical or something out of the ordinary. Arceus damned cold weather! |

2 ![]() "Alex, lean back against me a little more. Winston, turn up the heat, she's cold," Albion commanded of his loyal steed, who waited until Alex was away from his mane to turn the heat up more. Riding atop a Fire-type had to have its benefits and the warmth that Winston provided would be great relief for them both. Albion's armour had many cloth protective layers. Sometimes it got rather hot in there, yes, but right now it was an excellent way to keep himself warm and not worry too much. At this point, however, things were not so easy. Nvigation was a total difficulty and Albion wasn't entirely sure where he was going. The more they went, the softer the ground got and the harder it was for him to use his Pokétech to navigate. Even the connection to the Jade Falcon was difficult. "Why not use one of your Flying-types to help us through the fog, Alex? They can see better than we can," he offered. It was an idea, at least. |

3 He obviously was mad. Torthal would freeze solid in this... and Dynata would snap her head off. It was worth a short, she guessed. If they really needed the help. And wanted to risk their skins. And maybe die at the hands of a infuriated Pidgeot. Did they really have to enlist the help of Dynata.... She leaned back into him, shivering extra for a moment against his metal armor before the chill was taken off by the flaming horse. Alex grumbled under her breath and pulled Dynata's pokeball off her belt with shakey fingers. "If we die... its on you," she muttered at him. She turned the ball so the button faced out into the fog. "Dynata, help us with the fog, please?" In a flash of red light, and an annoyed loud squawk the giant Pidgeot materialized into exsistance. She turned her eyes on to the pair of them and squawked again, obviously annoyed. "Please? Just keep us from dying." The Pidgeot probably wanted them to die anyway. Joy. She huffed and ruffled her feathers before flying in a circle around them, like a hawk after their prey. Lovely. LP Count: 2 |

3 ![]() The bird was more enraged than Aerona in the middle of a firestorm. Albion knew he could help her with this, even if his supply was dwindling rapidly; it could be stocked back up shortly, or so he hoped. He did have the means to replenish them, or would soon, and that would make life easier. In the meantime, he reached back for his supplies, and extracted four delicious and juicy watmel berries and held his hand out. "Dynata," he called, and the bird obeyed. Temporarily placated, it went back to its job and Albion and Alex could keep riding on through the fog with a guide that, for now, wasn't going to kill them. He smiled, keeping Alex pressed close to him for warmth and... well, we all know, but the red on his cheeks had not dissipated, even though the wind had died down. Wind burn remnants? Sure. Sure. That's what it was. Yes, that was what it was... "That should help. I hope." |

3 She obey reluctantly, and took the berries. Alex glared at the bird with a "oh you're such a glutton don't even start" look. The bird was probably still wanting to kill them, but at least she was placated for now. For now. Alex rested her head on Albion's shoulder, looking out at the nothingness that was the fog. What a romantic getaway. Fog, ice, and frigid temperatures. She honestly couldn't describe how it could be better. Except maybe sunlight. And you know, actually being in a relationship instead of just borrowing your "This fog is lovely. So expansive, and so bland and so turning around. It's almost like the whole valley is one piece of condensed fog. Herp Derps are probably hiding everywhere. Everywhere. Watch, we'll fall into a reviene of the idiot birds." There was a squawk in front of them. "Not you Dynata, stop being full of yourself! As I was saying. Herp Derps. Everywhere." She nodded and turned her head slightly to wedge it under his chin and where all the warmth was escaping from his skin. LP Count: 5 |

3 ![]() "I don't think there are any ravines in a swamp..." Albion pointed out with a bit of a smile. After all, this whole thing. At this point, the fog was slowly starting to clear up... slowly. The burn in the eyes was starting to dissipate, but only a little. This place was still bad, but now there was a light at the end of the tunnel and they could make progress onto harder ground as they went. This was a great way to adventure, really... burning eyes, partly bad moods, murderous birds and awkward love scenes. That was for later. "But I have to ask. Herp derps?" he finally asked, because this whole time he'd felt a little bit silly not knowing what she meant. Really, the answer was obvious, but he'd missed the critical point in which he'd actually understood stupid little herp derp. |

3 Bah ravines in a swamp. It could happen! They wouldn't expect that would they!? Plodding over what they think is frozen ground and suddenly CRASH WHINNEY SCREAMS leave them in a tangled mess on top of each other in a giant depression in the ground. They wouldn't know what happened until awkward interactions and possible declarations of love had them realizing things they never realized! And all because of a ravine! The possibilities! Ahem. The solid ground and less fog and burning eyes was good too. "It could happen, ya never know. And Herp Derps are what I refer to Pidove. Those weird ass birds who look like they have tiny reading glasses on their beaks. One ran into my forehead the last time I was in the fog. They're also built like trucks but have less sense than Psyduck," she said with a gesture of rage of her arm. The gesture is rather indescribable as she just sort of... flailed it into the fog like a limp fish to prove a point. I think. She glanced up at him, a hard task with her head wedged under his chin. "Hence forth, they are known as 'Herp Derps'. Seemed a correct categorization of them, to be honest." She shrugged a shoulder. They would never been something other than that to her. Damn idiot birds. LP count: 7 |

3 ![]() Or, yeah, that too... And so it became story time. An interesting story indeed considering Albion never really thought of an individual species as stupid, but the fact remained that one had decided to be rather silly in their action. Sometimes things just ended up that way and poor Alex was attacked by a bird. Not like he could do anything about it now, right? His smile was enough to let her know that she was listening. On the plus side, the fog got even thinner and, in a few moments, they burst out into fresh air and no more stinging, watery eyes! Finally! "I have never been more glad to see full sunlight, ever," Albion said, sighing in relief and holding Alex just that little bit closer purely by reflex. |

2 She giggled and smiled, turning her face to the sun. "I'm with you on that. Man do I love sun," she said, stretching. The act, however, had her arching her back against him. Her spine cracked and she popped a shoulder as she stretched, but it didn't change the fact that Alex was rather... intimately pressed against him, esspecially with his reflexive squeeze. Dynata cawed and surged up into the sky, glad to be free of the fog. She dive bombed a few rodents with a bang, taking the poor screeching rats off to eat them. Alex rolled her eyes and snorted. Damn bird was a glutton, such a glutton. Hopefully that prowess in getting her food would translate to her battle skills. Provided they weren't turned on her, that is. "She's enjoying herself," she muttered, settling back into Albion's chest and returning her head to his shoulder. LP Count: 10 |

3 ![]() "It's so much better to be able to relax and not have to worry about freezing, even if the ground's still frosty," Albion admitted. Warmth was far more preferable to coldness, but being a man of the sea he was getting rather used to the cold. And there was that blsh again - this time, he wasn't even denying it. This was something he couldn't resist. She was really turning it up and he knew it wasn't even intentional. What could he do about it? Nothing. Absolutely nothing. He didn't have the courage yet. Watching Dynata kill basically everything around them was a good distraction from the thoughts racing through his mind, though. "Pidgeots make excellent predators," Albion commented, watching the bird dive-bomb a Weedle. (Yay.) "They're fast and deadly. They're practically the masters of the skies, in packs. Not to be trifled with." Albion looked out to the distance, staring for a moment. "Say, Alex... indulge me. Can we make a pitstop on the way out of the valley?" His voice was tentative, amost unsure if she'd let him - their urge to get to Mayriver was strong. Albion would have loved to go there, visit his friends even... but this was important to him too. |

3 ![]() She blinked and sat up, turning to look at him. An eyebrow was raised over her green-blue eyes in question, her head tllting to the side like many an anime heroine who is just a smidge ditsy. He had spiked her curiousity, probably could ask for more if he really wanted to. Besides, the horse was his so she couldn't exactly say no. "Sure. Somethin' specific on your mind?" she asked him, looking at him thoughtfully. Man his cheeks were burnt. Poor boy. They'd probably need to stop for lotion while in Mayriver to help heal his skin. Hers were probably really burnt too. She smiled and winced as her cheeks protested the motion. Yup, definately burnt. That was going to be fun later. Alex handed him the reigns. "Lead on," she said with a small smile, turning back around to the front. She shouted to her Pidgeot to follow them, getting a squawk in return. LP count: 13 |

3 ![]() "There is, actually," he said, a little abashed at the words. How to say that the thing on his mind was her? He couldn't. He had to... make something work, in the back of his mind. Where this all started for them was the battle that concluded the war, ended by the Elite Four flooding the valley to cool the fortress' reactor and Kyurem freezing the land to save it from the same fate. They had essentially started together just after the war's conclusion. From there, their current course of events had led them to all this. All of it. It was just so... crazy and chaotic and now he had to deal with his emotions too, the lingering shame of the day before and... Eventually, the horn and the dark obelisk rising out of the ground came into view. The humongous Samurott horn was the only aboveground reminder of the fortress, the rest inside the ground and open for people to visit. However, that was not why he came here. He pulled up his horse and dismounted, un-loping his arms from her somewhat reluctantly as his feet landed against the ice. Slowly, the armour-clad knight walked up to the obelisk, engraved with the names of every person who died in the Battle of Murmur Valley. As an OME Corporal at the time, they were his comrades, his fellow soldiers. Now, as Lieutenant-General, they were his responsibility. Kneeling down beside the memorial, he brushed his hand over it, wiping away a few rogue bits of ice. It was such a sad sight, but it put things into perspective for him, somehow. "It's been a while since the war ended. I guess it changed a lot of things for all of us... took my home, killed my brothers-in-arms... but it did bring me you," he commented. And then in what was quite easily the strangest segue ever, "Have you ever heard the tale of Sir Linton the Brave? It's an Escennian story, so I don't know if you know it very well, but even so..." |

3 Right, that... thing. Alex sobered up as it came into view. She watched as Albion dismounted and walked up to the obelisk. She prefered to not remember much of the battle. While she'd been a part of it, she hadn't been a big part of it. Not much a lowly Cyndaquil and an Oddish could accomplish among the forces of the Jgsei and the OME. She'd turned out regardless and had done her best fighting the lowbies that had broken through the ranks. Her brain stopped functioning at his mention of it bringing him to her. Heat flushed up her neck and cheeks and she shrunk a little in her jacket in embarrasment. Well yes it had brought the two of them together but still... The young woman dismounted from Winston, patting his flank gently. Boots hit ice, the army grade soles gripping the surface. Alex shook her head and walked up to him. "No. We never went north much when I was growing up. Dance and mom's work didn't allow us too, besides mom not haven't Pokemon either. What's the tale?" she asked quietly, looking slowly up the horn. 3 ![]() "Sir Grayson, my liege, told me this tale often when I was little," Albion said, turning to Alex and drawing himself up to his full height as he started to speak. This was an important tale to him - literally it formed everything he believed and knew about life. It was his inspiration and guide. "Sir Linton was the finest Knight of Escennia that had ever graced our Order. He was young when he became a page and became the youngest ever knight after his apprenticeship under the Order's previous leader, Sir Marten. He fought battles, competed in tournaments and above all served the people with dignity and honour. One day, when a fire broke out on one of the towers and it started to fall, Sir Linton and his mighty Rapidash were on the scene, then he and his team of loyal Pokémon fought the fire away faster than even the firefighters could ever get there. One of the tower's steeples threatened to fall but he threw himself on top of a child that it was going to fall on - fortunately, his Machoke stopped the falling debris before it could crush him under its weight. For his efforts he was known as Sir Linton the Brave, willing to sacrifice himself in the face of danger to save the people of Escennia. He was one of the greatest modern Knights ever. Arguably the greatest." "In the end, he married the older sister of the child he'd saved, a woman who became known as Lady Renata. Eventually they settled down and had three children, but tragedy struck when in the comfort of his own home he was killed, a knife buried in his back. The assassin was never found," Albion said, with a little disgust, almost as if he blamed himself for that. "But even in death he was brave. He faced it without fear. He had no fear when it came to facing any of life's challenges, no matter how insurmountable." He paused for a moment, composing his thoughts. He could veritably feel his heart beating stronger now. This tale was just... "The one thing it teaches us is to be brave, no matter what we face. An enemy on the battlefield, a blaze set to our homes, or even our own emotions," Albion said, his azure eyes locked directly into hers now, that familiar burn across his face. This time, there was no running away from the fact that it was indeed a blush - for either of them. "Sir Linton was my father. I was eleven when he was murdered. Even now, I try to live up to his legacy because he always wanted me to be a brave young knight just like he was. And... now I find that I need the courage to face my emotions, surpass the shame of an action I had no control over and face the truth." One step closer. His heart beat was so loud now it felt like it resounded against the cold steel of his armour. "I've never done this before, Alex. Not once. I don't know if this is entirely chivalric or proper of me to say or do, but Alex, I can't keep this in any more. It's time I summoned the courage to admit the truth: I'm falling for you." He removed both of his gauntlets, one by one, letting the pieces fall to the ground so that he could cup her cheeks with his own hands - and then kiss her, drawing her in, a slow and tender kiss planted soundly on her lips for just that brief, tentative moment, the shyness showing in even the way he held himself. He broke away, searching for an answer, searching for something in her eyes. What did they hold? |

5 [ Because you broke my ability to can ]She listened quietly, watching him with curious eyes as she spoke. She'd had no tales of such when she was younger, though the tales of how Timbus had... vanished had always confused her. He'd been her father's favorite and strongest Pokemon, and he'd just... let him go? That seemed so... so... bland in comparison. She didn't believe it, certainly not after the signs had started showing up, but she'd gone along with it to ease her mother's mind. Alex knew, to an extent, what had happened. She just chose to ignore since it had never been an issue. Until recently. Alex did her best to muffle the snort at being taken down by a knife to the back. This was a civilarous man he looked up to and snorting because she thought it was a silly way to go just wasn't going to help. Clearly with the intensit-- W-what? Wait for it... wait for it... WHAT!? H-his father? Her eyes widened in shock, her heart shuddering painfully in her chest. Some part of her brain muttered why did all tails like that always have to end on such a depressing yet uplifting note at the same time? Terrible that his father was murdered, but yay for learning to be brave? Alex had no idea how to process this, much less what he was saying now. His words confused her slightly, but her heart sped up like a race horse. He stepped closer and she licked her lips. They went dry in shock. He was... he was falling for her? But, wait really? Honestly? Holy Arceus really? Was that even allowed as a knight? Well obviously if he was born but what, seriously? For her? She was just a.. a... A girl who shouldn't even be living after the accident, her mind supplied for her. Well, thanks mind, that was terrible. Perhaps something more like a bi-polar, too gun-ho chick who had an obsession with dragons and-- Oh his fingers felt nice against her skin. Her head tilted slightly into one of his palms, soaking up the heat leaving them. Her eyes were already fluttering shut as he bent down and kissed her, a tender, tentative kiss that betrayed just how innocent Albion really was. Her fingers twitched and she found herself in an awkward "what do I do with these" moment. It had been a long time since she'd had someone express themselves like this, and was rather caught off guard anyway. She settled on gripping his elbows. Her breath caught and her face lifted into the kiss, even as he pulled away. Blue-green eyes fluttered open and she let out a shakey breath as her heart hammered in her chest. Her eyes held a reciprocation of his affections, thought while not at 'in love' stage, it was certainly getting there. She tentatively reached up and gently grabbed his chin with her fingers. "Falling for me, huh? A hybrid..." she whispered quietly before pushing up on her toes and kissing him somewhat harder on the mouth. Her heart fluttered and hammered harder and her fingers twitched in response but she didn't break the kiss. Pain was bearable to be able to do this, with him, even in front of a marker of death and destruction. "It's perfectly proper to kiss a lady, Albion," she said with a soft chuckle when she finally broke the kiss. "Perfectly proper." LP Count:19 |

4 because that was wonderful"Oh. Um..." Yes, ladies and gentlemen, even in this brilliantly wonderful bursting moment of passions finally given tempered truth, Albion was still shy. Doubts swam through his mind - was he being too forward, too timid, too intrusive, not honest enough? So many things could and would go wrong if given half a chance. However, it was her eagerness to reciprocate his feelings that kept Albion going, kept his strength high. Her touch was electric, sending shivers down his spine as this moment ended up being everything he had ever hoped it to be. "In that case, milady, I shall," he finally said, courage welling up from within him as he kissed her again. This time, it was deeper, letting her guide him just a little as he stumbled through the darkness of the unknown. Truth told, however, she was an excellent teacher and he was going to accept every chance to learn every nuance she would be kind enough to teach him. If there was nothing wrong with it, then why shouldn't he? There was literally no rule against emotional attachments. As his father proved, it was an entirely viable thing to do; his father was strengthened by his mother's presence. He was the same with Alex - he felt on top of the world when she was with him. Eventually, after what felt like a blissful eternity, he pulled away. "If I may ask... what do you mean by hybrid?" he wondered aloud. If it wasn't too intrusive and she was willing to share, he wanted to know about that interesting comment she'd just made. He had no idea what she meant. |

3 Her heart soared and she reacted into the kiss, arching herself into him. Her fingers inched up his cheeks, holding him there as they kissed. Alex's blood sang in her veins, the thudding of her heart now painful in her limbs. She kept from wincing as best she could, knees locking and her legs tensing with each beat. ... girl... Her breath hitched in her chest as Albion pulled away. Her fingers twitched against his skin, in a way that made it seem like she didn't want him to stop. She hoped at least. ...girl, can you hear me? You can't ignore me forever... no matter what that woman told you.. The voice was a deep thrum, vibrating inside of her head, and full of annoyance, but not necessarily mad. Just, annoyed. Alex licked her lip, stalling for time until Albion asked the one question she wasn't sure she could answer. ...girl, see? You know it. Now if you'd just let me... You don't exist.. I only want you to exist so I don't feel so normal. You can't exist. The voice chuckled breathlessly, as if it was tired. ...we'll see... It drifted into silence, and Alex finally trusted herself to speak. She opened her eyes, hoping he wouldn't press the issue if she told him not to worry about it. There wasn't any reason for him to worry about it, anyway, besides. It wasn't like... it made her any different on the outside anyway. He probably wouldn't believe it anyway. Her eyes, those lovely eyes that Albion probably lost himself in every time he looked at her, burned blue fire. Each blink did nothing to turn them back to their original color. It wasn't something she could notice; there was no pain, there was no abnormal heat. It would be only something he noticed. She gave him a little smile and shook her head. ''Just a... slip of the tongue. Don't worry about it," she said softly, willing him to drop it and not bring it up again. Not yet at least. LP count: 23 |

3 ![]() That strange glow in her eyes was something he noticed readily, given the fact that Albion was rather perceptive for things about Alex. He wasn't sure how to take that, really, but nonetheless he would have to leave it given the fact that she had very willingly said that she wanted to leave it alone. That much was difficult for him, and a look of momentary confusion settled on his face. He wanted to know so much about Alex, the things she liked and the things she was and the things she wanted to be and yet this one had to elude him. It was not an easy choice but it was a choice already made for him. If she wanted not to talk about it now and wait until she was ready to do so, then the knight was fine with this change. He could handle that. Perhaps she needed to be ready to talk about what was easily a secret that she was still struggling with. A beast left slumbering within that was not yet ready to awaken. If only he knew how apt that description was... Either way he straightened himself up, offered her his hand again and motioned with his other to Winston. "Shall we continue?" Albion asked, that wonderful smile still on his face that bespoke satisfaction in every aspect of life. They still hadn't quite reached Mayriver, sadly. They'd probably have to go to the Gym first either way. He'd already attained the Tidal Badge through his apprenticeship. That and he also needed to contact OME Headquarters as well as some other people to get things done. He really did want to get to Mayriver now that his mind was clear and focused and thinking mostly of her. |

3 She breathed a sigh of relief and smiled up at him. She glanced down at his hand and took it. She stood with a slight shiver; evidently she'd forgotten the cold in their moment. That was alright though; because it had been worth it. She pecked his cheek gently. "Mm yes. Mayriver, right? I wanna challenge your gym leader again; I think I have a better chance now," she said with a grin as she pulled away. Her eyes dimmed to their blue-green color, not a lick of fire to be seen. Maybe it had been a trick of the light? Doubtful, but maybe. Alex stretched and rolled her shoulders. She was ready to get out of the cold and continue their journey. Together. She tightened her fingers around his and gave a squeeze. |

3 ![]() The moment had passed and everything was back to normal. Albion really could not argue with what had happened and how it had transpired because it was just perfect now. He actually had the strength of his convictions to tell her how she felt and, honestly, that much was a brilliant boost for his confidence. He needed a little bit of that now and then to remind him that, yes, it was okay to feel emotions. With a swirling motion of the cloak attached to his armour, Albion was back astride his horse, leaving Alex her spot in front once more since she seemed to enjoy that, even going so far as to pull her back atop Winston. Besides, she was going to have to learn how to control Winston soon enough if they were going to ride together. She didn't know that yet, but still, it would be a worthy cause. Albion did enjoy riding around for any number of reasons. "To Mayriver, Winston. Hyah!" Without any further prompting, the warmth of the horse flared to acceptable levels and the beast shot off, galloping towards their destination at his usual excitable pace. Albion's team were very good at verbal prompts; he'd trained them that way. It also left Alex and Albion ample time to chat - and with a simple on his face, he resumed his earlier position of his arms around her waist. This time, however, he wasn't afraid. |

3 She took her seat up on the horse, smiling as he wrapped his arms around her and kept her close. Alex held the reins loosely as the horse shot off; there was really no need for her to guide the beast. Winston already knew where he was going. She tucked her head down against the wind, leaning against Albion's chest. Perhaps while Albion was taking care of personal business, if he had any, she'd call home and ask a few specific questions of her mother. If she got the chance to, anyway. And so, on they rode. To Mayriver! LP Count: 29 |

3 ![]() And so Winston rode on, back to his wonderful sprinting speed. With the ability to run free across what little remained of the Valley, Albion and Alex only had one more obstacle on their way to Mayriver: the remnant of the Sanded Grasslands. It would be conquered and quickly, so thought the valiant Knight on his journey. He'd fought his way through it once and would very gladly do it again as necessity dictated. The speeding Rapidash was only moments away, breaking clear of the muck and mist and out, onto open fresh air. In the distance sat the ever-familiar goal before them: the wonderful port of Mayriver. ~end |
