Once more, Selena found herself in the grassland around Moorfeldt. This time, however, she had gone the opposite direction from the Pokemon Center, and found herself in a completely new area. And yet, it seemed a bit familiar. "You know, I was expecting this to look at least a little different from. But it's almost like someone copied and pasted the look..."

She looked over at her two occupied Poke Balls, safely occupying the belt over her hip. "Well, I hope you two are ready. I didn't look at the map, so I'm not really sure where this way leads...I guess so long as it's somewhere half interesting, we can't complain too much."

...It really wasn't too interesting there, though. It was grass. And more grass. And even more grass. If she was lucky, the monotony was broken up by the occasional tree. And that was it. Once the Oppadeka region belonged to Team Rocket, the first thing she was going to do would be to order a massive project to make the grasslands look nicer. Maybe add some flowers and shrubs all around the place. It'd be a start, anyway.

Speaking of which, she wasn't going to get anything done just standing around. And so, she walked into the area, on the lookout for...well, anything that wasn't just wide open field. Which should probably stick out like a sore thumb in a place like this.

Indeed, anything that wasn't wide open field would stick out like a sore thumb. Because that's all there is. If not for the city receding behind you, you'd never know how much progress you were making. This place is dull.

So when, as you make your way into a slightly browner section of grassland, you are accosted by a territorial bird coming down out of the sky, it's almost a relief.

Almost as if the world was taunting her, Selena actually had to look up to find something worth looking at for more than half a second. No need to whip out the Pokedex this time, either, since it was a Pokemon she'd already encounted. "So, you want to fight me, hmm? Well, it's a start." Poke Ball #2, removed. "Unfortunately for you, in my experience, cats eat birds! Let's go, Purrloin!"

With a light toss, the ball traveled forward a bit, before revealing the Dark type Pokemon inside. It stretched as it looked up at the Spearow, and gave it an odd, half-curious, half-pondering look, like it was trying to decide something. "Purr...loin?" After a few moments, it shook its head, and reared back, ready to strike.

"...What was that all about? I guess it doesn't matter, so long as you're ready to fight. No sense in holding back, and during that shower I looked up everything I could about you in the Pokedex, so use your Night Slash attack!" The Rocket vigorously pointed as she made her command. Heh, she was really getting into this.

The Devious Pokemon's front paws began to glow black, as it began to race towards the bird. As it drew near, it would deliver a powerful claw attack at the bird...one with the forces of darkness behind it.

The Purrloin doesn't seem very enthusiastic, but she certainly knows how to hold her own. She leaps into the air, meeting the oncoming Spearow with a slash of claws. The bird screeches in fury and unleashes a hail of raking attack with its talons. The Purrloin endures this for a few seconds, before flinging the bird of and pouncing, knocking the bird out with a final swipe of her paw.

Nothing like a one-sided fight, eh?

Minor injuries aside, not bad. Selena silently nodded in approval as the dark slashes made short work of the Spearow that dared oppose her. "Nicely done. You can lull enemies in with cuteness, or you can take them out with brute strength...now that's a Pokemon worth having!" She tossed her cat Pokemon's Poke Ball a couple of times, before pointing it at Purrloin. "Now, return and take five!" With that, the Devious Pokemon was withdrawn, returning to the sphere that now served as its home.

Now that she didn't have to worry about being pecked by an annoying bird Pokemon, the Rocket took a look around, noticing that things were getting less grassy and more sandy. Since there weren't any cool ocean breezes, that could only mean she was headed for some sort of desert. Not that it mattered much to her, so long as she didn't get any sand in her boots. Now THAT would be annoying. She had no great desire to backtrack, however, so she'd have to risk it...and so she ventured forth, enjoying the grass under her feet while it lasted. Though, that was secondary to staying vigilant, of course.

((OOC: Hello, This will be one of my mods for my mod application. Just letting you know.))

Things are quiet for a long time as you continue forward on your journey. After about ten minutes, you spot two little creatures standing very close together. Upon closer examination you notice a young pair of nidorans getting coozey outside of their new home. They were a new couple moving into their first home together. Everything was moved into the hole and the couple was enjoying the view around their home. They snuggled adorably together in front of their home. You could ignore them, you could ruin their wonderful evening by battling them, or you could catch one or both of them. Really you could do anything. That is the point of this thing, right?

( 1 :lp ...sorry D: )

Walking, walking, walking. No one ever told her that things would be this...dull as a trainer. She always heard remarks about how you couldn't take two steps in grass without getting attacked, and yet here she was, going for what felt like hours without even seeing a Pokemon. Granted, it probably wasn't THAT long, but-

Oh, finally. Some form of movement. Investigating it yielded not one Pokemon, but two. But, there was a bit of a problem...namely, how sweet they were being to each other. Selena didn't mind a bit of romance, but she was about to go into diabetic shock just from watching them. Yeesh. Well, might as well see what the Pokedex had to say about them...

"Nidoran female, the Poison Pin Pokemon. While it does not prefer to fight, even one drop of the poison it secretes from barbs can be fatal."

"Nidoran male, the Poison Pin Pokemon. It scans its surroundings by raising its ears out of the grass. Its toxic horn is for protection."

...Hmm. The female's description managed to somehow both excite and irritate her at the same time: a Pokemon with deadly poison was very Team Rocketesque, but one that didn't especially like fighting, not so much. Sure, she could fight them, but being on the receiving end of that...no thanks. And while Ivysaur probably could take them both on thanks to being immune to poisonings, it'd probably take its fair share of damage, and this far from civilization...no.

Besides, ruining their day was just mean. She certainly didn't mind being mean, what with being a Rocket and all, but this seemed worse, somehow. With a sigh and nothing more, she left the Pokemon to their own devices, and started her trek anew. Even nothingness was more fun than watching Pokemon she wasn't going to fight.

WILD PKMN ENCOUNTER!

:rattata
:lvl 12 :fl
24/24 :hp

Except that there was a shadow, covering the tiny purple rat, growing increasingly larger and descending from the east. The rat barely had time to notice Selena; it threw its head into the sky, panicked, and began to run in the opposite direction... but it was too late, and it cried frantically into the grey-blue sky.

Claws, then feathers, captured the rattata. Blood painted the sharp talons and the soft, yet enormous wings of a bird: this was no spearow, come down to face its death at the hands of the nearest trainer, but a bright-eyed and hungry pidgeotto. It paid Selena little mind but to squawk at her fiercely, turning instead to bury a sharp beak into the body of its prey and proceed to lunch.

WILD PKMN ENCOUNTER!

:pidgeotto

- Just ate the rattata.

Selena - and the distracted pidgeotto - stood at the absolute border of dry, crunchy grass and the sweeping brown sea of stone and sand. Moorfeldt was some distance behind, while Bloodaisy waited the same distance ahead. Both the Gravel Valley and the Thin Shrubs lay a pebble's toss away.

( 3 :lp ...and bad me for not posting in two weeks)

Rattata, meh. Selena knew it well, since many a Rocket grunt had one. Shoot, even some of the higher ups had their evolved form. She wasn't crazy about it, but for kicks, why not see what the Pokedex had to say about it?

"Rattata, the Mouse Pokemon. It searches for food all day. It gnaws on hard objects to wear down its fangs, which grow constantly during its lifetime."

As the electronic Pokemon encyclopedia droned, however, the area around the purple Pokemon began to grow steadily darker and larger, causing the Rocket to look up just in time to see a rather large bird swoop in and obtain its meal. She knew what this one was as well, but for another reason: she had seen them before just outside of town growing up. Time to give the Pokedex a double dip...

"Pidgeotto, the Bird Pokemon. Pidgeotto is the evolved form of Pidgey. It flies over its wide territory in search of prey, downing it with its highly developed claws."

And that...was just plain redundant, considering what she had just witnessed. After that scene, she really, REALLY didn't want to go up against it...especially since her team wasn't exactly well suited for an imposing Flying type. She might've tried if she had the element of surprise, but since the exact opposite had happened...no. Just, no. Pass.

Pocketing the Pokedex, Selena quietly went around the hungry bird, not wanting to do anything that might possibly provoke it. No witty banter, not even a cliche 'you got lucky, I don't feel like fighting right now' boast. Just silence, and a keen eye on the wild predatory Pokemon. She noticed that there was now zero grass cushioning her foot against the sandy ground, but, whatever. It was happening sooner or later anyway, so what if it was while avoiding getting shredded?

(Gravel Valley ahoy!)
