"How many assholes we got on this ship anyhow?"
Not so long ago (one month ago in fact), the alien had made a promise to one of his best friends. His friend happened to be human, and the promise happened to be that he would try to teach him the Scavian language. They had agreed to meet at a secluded place because the alien was paranoid and did not trust all humans - just this human.

Floyd sat at the edge of the pond; a large body of dark, glassy water just outside of town. Behind him and a bit deeper in the woods, skulked the conglomeration of fiendish parts known as a geneticore - known more commonly to Floyd as Sa'Til'k. The creature was snuffling in the fallen leaves, looking for scent trails to chase and generally mischief to get into.

In his pack, Floyd had a single egg. A Bidoof egg given to him by his human friend. It was high time to hatch the little critter and what better opportunity than with the one who gave it to him.

Also in his arsenal was Kramer - The Zangoose, Gray - The Magnezone, Lexx - The Yanmega, Merrick - The Seviper, and of course Helsing, who needed no introduction but was simply an asshole. All these though, remained in their pokeballs for the time being. Floyd had no intention of remaining at the pond for long. He was hoping that Ben would consent for a walk through through the woods. He wanted to find some new pokemon to add to his collection.

So, quick OOC here first: I'm transferring my growing posts for my greenhouse plants to this thread, from Egg City. The others, and all the eggs are staying there because I can't really move them, but the greenhouse is simple enough.

Levi is also registered into his mount ball and so on Ben, but not on his team. Just in case, I guess. IDK.

Fate is being taught False Swipe.

Greenhouse

So, there was a promise. And I'm lazy and my internet is being a dick and I don't feel like hoping it'll let me load up Deepwood long enough to make a 'I lolport here' post in it just to join a NC side along fun-thread. So we just say that Ben stepped out a portal on the outskirts of town, checked his directions, and headed south. Because, yaknow, he's never technically been to this landmark yet, but it's a stone's throw from a town which he doesn't need a confirmation mod to leave and enter here from. So we're all good.

I'm also sure he'd be more than happy to wander about and see stuff. There's things in here that'd help his pokedex pages, I'm sure. I'd be more sure if I could open up the friggen 'Pedia to see, though. Butohwell. Let's get this show on the road.

A month had passed, as promised, since the gorgon thing. At least as far as our intrepid travelers were concerned. And so, because Ben keeps his promises, he had journeyed out to Deepwood, and made his way toward the pond. Jax was with him, of course, she loved seeing their scaly friend. He'd taken some time trying to pick out the rest of his team, however. Anubis and Isis eventually...he figured the little riolu lady might like to thank her other savior now that she was stable again, and her brother might not mind seeing the alien either.

Otherwise, it really was a grab bag. Ross had come because he kinda needed to be around for making portals for traveling...he really did prefer Ross' 'Teleport' over most of the psychic variants. He wondered if Celeste would find it an improvement as well...he'd have to show her sometime, actually...

But he was getting distracted. Ben shook off the pleasant thoughts of the redhead and focused his attention on finding the pond. Ross was also a master of every single status effect you could ever dream of inflicting, which could be handy. You never knew, and he certainly wouldn't mind an acquisition or two of his own to help fill out his pokedex.

Before departing Brightopolis to come here, he'd picked up a TM as well, and given it to Fate, his absol, in the interests of catching anything. And he figured the absol would like the chance to explore. And Twist seemed to be spending some time with Celeste's pokemon, her pachirisu in particular, so it probably would be good for her to get used to not always having the absol around. The last slot had similarly been filled out with a pokemon he didn't much have an opportunity to let wander, in the ninetails Inari.

The fox served as an alternative translator to his two aura users, as well, as he oddly had the ability to communicate telepathically to anyone present. He'd had it since a vulpix, in Brightopolis. Ben sometimes wondered if it was a side-effect of the Pokerus virus. But ohwell.

The rambling thought process had made his travel, short as it already was, even shorter, as Jax let out an excited bark and bounded toward the Scavian as soon as she got a whiff of him. Ben chuckled and followed after, Isis on his shoulder. "Good to see you again, Floyd!" he called, waving a hand in that direction.

He'd taken the precaution of genticore repellent as well, having doused the coat he was now wearing into it before he'd teleported out this way. No need to get chased around by the alien's odd 'son' by way of reintroduction, after all. And Floyd had ensured he had some for such a purpose already, aftger he'd used the last batch keeping Til'k from eating someone at the Halloween party.

So they were all good.

He saw the great white arcanine first. Jax was a hard one to miss. The giant dog bounded toward him, all fur and muscle and slinging drool.

"Jax!" Floyd yelped, scuttling backwards before being pounced upon.

Behind the slobber and the happy doggy face, was Ben, come at last, as agreed upon. Floyd waved from beneath his furry friend and after a few minutes managed to wriggle free. Til'k emerged from the wood, slinking from between the trees. He spied the familiar faces and wriggled. The monster meeped a hello and squatted by the pool of water for a drink.

When Floyd had regained his feet, he sat in the dirt and looked at his friends. "Glad you could come." he said with a grin. "Ready to learn a little Scavian, then?"

Greenhouse *rolls needed*

Ben chuckled as Jax rolled over onto her back beside the alien General, blatantly begging for a belly rub once he'd pushed her off him. "I sometimes wonder if she likes you better than me," he joked, sitting down beside them both and giving her a rub obligingly as she huffed. Not really, she just saw Floyd less than Ben. So there.

Isis watched Floyd from her perch, paws clutching at Ben's hair as she plastered herself to the side of his face. "I am, indeed. Though first...Floyd, this is Isis. Isis is Anubis' little sister. Isis, Floyd. Floyd was the one I told you about, who helped me way back when I found you." He gently disengaged her from his shoulder and deposited the riolu into his lap, where she continued to watch Floyd with a slightly uncertain expression, glancing toward Til'k from time to time.

Ben, more confidently, waved to the bizarre monstrosity, to reassure her. He wasn't about to mention that Til'k had tried to eat him once upon a time, not wanting to scare her further. "That's Til'k, Isis. He's Floyd's son. He's safe enough." Right now, anyway. "But yeah...I thought you'd like to meet her and her you. While I try to learn some Scavian." He grinned.

It's about time I actually got a chance to bring Ben's fascination with languages and skill with them onto Legacy. Not that I expect he'll be able to master speaking Scavian completely even so.

Isis flicked her ears nervously, and after a moment padded out of his lap to offer a paw to the alien. "...hullo..." she mumbled nervously, watching him closely. "I...thank you, too..." He probably couldn't understand her, but she was trying at least. Pleasantries done, she fled back to hide in her trainer's lap for the moment and he petted her gently.

Til'k raised his head up from the pond. Water and algae streamed in little waterfalls from his teeth. He snorted, blowing out a mist of pond water and snot, then resumed drinking.

Floyd watched in fascination as the tiny riolu crept close enough to him to touch. She held out a paw and he tilted his head back at her. Then, very slowly so as not to startle her, he reached out and gently took her paw into his hand. True, he couldn't understand the vocalizations, but he could understand body language clearly.

"It's nice to see you again, Isis." His nodded deeply at her and smiled. He made no mention of their first meeting, thinking perhaps dredging up bad memories was in poor taste. Then, looking at Ben, he reconsidered his words. "Perhaps I should say, 'L'loyd'n Vik-vys'." He sounded the words out slowly but at the same time he ducked his head into a bow, pointing his muzzle at the ground. The first syllable clicked off his tongue in the same way he said his own name, the second was a deep sigh blunted by his tongue, the third was harsh but easily reproducible by a human, and the last was mostly a hiss.

"That is hello, but literately means, 'pleased to meet you'. Scavians do not use a vocal greeting unless they are honestly happy to see you, or perhaps are simply passing by and do not wish to engage in conversation. Otherwise, they will bow their heads, a symbol of submission to the other. The deeper the bow, the more respect you show. To completely avert your gaze is to show friendship and peace to the other, but to keep a direct stare is insolent and a challenge."

Ben, it might be noted, wasn't wearing the lucario suit this time, anyhow, opting instead for a pair of cargo pants (handy with all those pockets), a plain tee-shirt, and the jacket he'd liberally covered in stuff to prevent Til'k from trying to eat him. He wondered idly if he could make something that would have that sort of effect permanently...but that was an idea to muck around with later, really. Right now, he was more interested in learning what he could of his unique friend's language.

Isis nodded a little glancing over at Til'k a few more times as he drank, attention divided between him and the Scavian. Ben focused much more intently on Floyd, having gotten fairly used to the genticore in past visits with his friend. Didn't mean he wasn't going to be ready to dodge if the repellent somehow failed to work at some point, but he wasn't going to be overly paranoid about it.

His brows furrowed slightly as he listened closely to the words being sounded out in the Scavian tongue, head tilting slightly at the bowing of the alien's head. But then it was explained and he nodded, looking rather thoughtful. He could and couldn't stare at someone at the same time, so that would be kind of interesting if it ever came up, but he filed it away carefully.

"I see. A lot of humans think it's rude to stare too, actually..." Ben pulled the sunglasses he just about always wore everywhere, toying with them as he considered the statement. Especially after he'd gotten the ability to feel Auras, he'd noticed that people tended to be more uncomfortable when he didn't have his glasses on and 'looked' at them. "That may just be me, however." He was sure that in a fit of hypocrisy, all those folks that 'Do you mind?'d at people staring at them were the first to gawk at Floyd unashamedly.

It was almost sad, really. Ben slipped the glasses back on after a moment, and shrugged. Taking a deep breath, he bowed his own head, like he would to another martial artist. Interesting the parallel, there. "L'loyd'n Vyk'vis..." He shook his head a little as the second syllable came out off to his own ear, less of a sigh and more of a huff, wrinkling his nose slightly. The first syllable was simple enough to him as he had actually tried out at least what he knew of Floyd's more traditional name, and the third was harsh, like a germanic, but simple enough to reproduce. The hiss was slightly more difficult, but he didn't find it as hard as the second syllable.

He was a pretty good mimic, when it came down to it, and it wasn't the first hiss he'd ever imitated in his life. "L'loyd'n..." He cocked his head as he tried to first half of the greeting again, trying to smooth out the sound to better approximate Floyd's careful enunciation of it.

"Excellent!" Floyd exclaimed with an approving clap. "Don't worry too much about not getting it perfect. While there's a few sounds that are above or below the human range of hearing, most of those cases are reserved for emphasis and will have no impact on accurate translation. "You'll be getting your meaning across just fine unless you're meaning to flirt with the ladies...can't help you there."

The alien scratched his chin thoughtfully while pacing back and forth. He stopped to watch T'ilk and his next path was decided. "My language is both more descriptive and less so than any of the human languages. This being because humans have a word for everything, and a change in spelling and pronunciation to imply tense - for everything. We do not have a word for everything given that the other half of our language is based on gesture, body language, and even the situation that the word is used in. This will be the hardest part of teaching you Scavian and we'll just have to take it as we come to it.

"Another thing you'll see, is that our language is based off of our culture, and our culture is reliant on gender roles and hierarchy. I suppose a human will see our culture as sexist, but really we wouldn't agree. Male and Female roles seldom overlap. I can no more preform the role of a female than she could the role of a male - and no snickering, this goes well beyond reproduction or relationships in general. It has to do with how our brains are geared. Females are detail oriented, better in math and managing. Males see the larger picture very easily but when it comes to the mechanics we're slow to catch on. From a physical standpoint, males are larger, stronger, heavier, but slower. Females are smaller, lighter, quicker, but not nearly as imaginative. Our species takes Brains VS Brawn to its extents. One cannot function without the other.

"That doesn't mean I'm slow and stupid either." Floyd frowned, realizing he'd completely trashed himself with his explanation. "Moving on." He walked over to Til'k and patted the beast on the back. The monster has stopped trying to drink the pool dry and was watching him carefully. "T'ilk's full name is Sa'T'ilk, which is why I said everything I did up until now." He pronounced the sound once more, demonstrating it as a soft sigh. "Sa, is a descriptive prefix for anything you want to describe as small or less. It can describe, size, quantity, or role, depending on how it's used." He looked up at the monster standing in front of him. "I seldom use it now when speaking of Til'k because he's not so little anymore, but technically speaking he is still a baby. Sa, in his case is a title as much as my title is Vise'k. Sa'Til'k implies he is a hatchling. F'loydVise'k simply means I am an independent adult but still un-mated. However, as a prefix, Sa is descriptive and as a suffix it becomes a title. Til'k would more formally be addressed as Til'k-sa, or Til'k'te." He didn't add that Til'k was really neither, having killed enough humans to qualify as a blooded hunter, he was really Til'k'voss but Floyd didn't want to call him that until he'd made a kill which Floyd approved of.

"The roles are, Sa - hatchling, Te - unblooded adolescent, Voss - Blooded young adult who is not yet independent or of low rank, Vise - Un-mated adult or of the Hunter Rank, Rraj - Mated adult or Hunter of the middle Rank, and Seg - A parent, leader of the highest rank, or someone of great esteem. Sa, as I've said, denotes less. Seg will always denote more and is sometimes abbreviated to Se. Voss will imply so-so."

Floyd stopped to see if Ben had understood up to that point. The only word he had used that the human was likely to trip over would be Rraj, which was a deep rumbling beginning from the chest and ending in something that sounded like he had a bad hairball.

When it comes to languages, Floyd was going to find that his companion was a bit of a perfectionist. But he nodded a little, muttering it softly under his breath one last time to try to make sure he didn't forget it later. Greetings were a very good thing to remember, after all. If you could greet someone in their own language, they might hesitate before gutting you, after all.

And hesitation equals good, when it comes to attempts at gutting you.

Ben coughed at the mention of the flirting with ladies, and mumbled something about being all right and being able to manage in the general direction of his lap and Isis. It was hard to make out what all it was exactly, as his ears reddened a bit. Isis looked up at him, then over at Floyd and back, frowning a little at this reaction. How odd. Really, though, Ben was pretty sure he didn't need help courting anyone. Maybe. He didn't think so, anyhow. He and Celeste hopefully...

Ben quickly turned his thoughts away from that direction, turning a bit redder as Til'k wandered nearby and Floyd thought. When the Scavian reached whatever decision he was thinking about and spoke again, the blind trainer listened intently, all too happy to move on with the lesson. He nodded a little at the description of human languages. No matter which one, it did seem to be the case, and more so for some things in some languages than they were in others. Like those that lived with snow year round had more than one word for it, denoting the type and texture and so on...

Body language could get tricky in this case, since he didn't really have a tail or anysuch, this was true. But...well. There was some he could do, anyhow. But yeah. It'd be come as it goes, really, that, and besides, the alien was continuing. And they were back onto man versus woman. Ben coughed at the comment about reproduction, scratching behind Isis' ears as he listened and the Scavian continued. Really, it was easy enough to get distracted from those uncomfortable thoughts, the descriptions of all the terms were fascinating. Sa'Til'k, was it? And F'loyd'Vise'k...

In a way, it was like some human languages, that, with prefixes or suffixes that denoted the rank or status of a person. Interesting. "Sa, Te, Toss, Vise..." His brows furrowed slightly as he tried to figure out if there was any way he could duplicate 'Rraj,' then shook his head a little. "Grrezh...mph. Not sure I'll be able to duplicate that one very well..." He frowned a little, then shrugged. He'd try a bit more later, but hopefully it wouldn't necessarily come up that he'd have to use it. "And Seg or Se. It's always good to know where you stand, though."

He momentarily wondered, but didn't actually ask, where he might be considered in this hierarchy. Probably the same place as Floyd, really, but he wasn't sure he wanted to look too closely into that. Instead, after a moment, head turning toward Til'k thoughtfully, he tilted his head a little. "Your names both end in 'k...is that important? And...er. Would you be willing to translate them, maybe?"

He knew even names had meaning. He scratched Isis' head with a shrug. "Only if you want to, though." His own name was translated to 'son of my right hand' and occasionally made him feel rather guilty to contemplate. Some son he was, really, running off on his family.

But they'd been starting to stifle him. Blah.

Floyd listened patiently as his friend ran through all the new sounds, making a fair attempt at all but the one he would be least likely to use anyway. But, seeing his determination at getting as close as possible, he tried to offer a little assistance. "A deep growl will suffice, the more guttural the better." He nodded.

Ben moved onto the clicking sound that followed his and Til'k's names. The alien mimicked the noise more slowly, sounding out a series of three sharp clicks from the back of his throat. The snapping noise made was nothing more than a higher pitched growl, but when made in rapid succession reminded one of a rattle.

"When used as a suffix, the rattle signifies belonging to, or maybe to be part of something. So Til'k's name can be broken down to 'Sa', 'Til' and 'k'. Til is to change. So roughly translating, he is The Little Changling. My name, 'F'loyd', means light. Add 'Vise' or Hunter, and 'K', I am the Light Hunter, or One who Hunts in the Light, Or Hunter of the Light. My Brother's name is opposite mine. L'loyd is Darkness." His brother's name was more difficult to produce. When pronouncing it for humans, Floyd blunted the first syllable into a single sound, but in his own tongue, the first syllable was trilled, giving it a musical pitch.

"To say simply Loyd, is to refer to the sky." He added. There was much more behind his and his brothers names, but that was a story for another day.

The alien patted his monster on his enormous snout and look backwards over his shoulder into the woods. "How would you like to take a walk? Maybe we can see some new pokemon while we're out here, and maybe some inspiration on how to go about teaching you more of my language." He scratched his head and sighed. "I'm afraid I'm not a very good teacher. I've never considered how one might go about learning my language before, or how I would teach it." He frowned. "If Jade was here, she would know." He added glumly.

And that was becuase Jade was a girl and girls usually saw an easy way to do anything. But she wasn't here so he always did things the hard way - by blundering blindly through it, full speed ahead, and refusing to ask for directions.

Ben looked a little thoughtful, and nodded, filing the information away for later on 'Rraj.' The hierarchy system on its own was quite a delightfully complex thing. But it was unlikely he'd use much of it, this was true. And the explanation of his name and Til'k's was very interesting. Changeling? He wondered exactly what that implied of the genticore in general, or Til'k in specific.

But he didn't ask, only snorted softly at the appelation of 'little' applied to the beast. "I...didn't know you had a brother. Sorry..." he said quietly after a moment. It had to be lonely sometimes, particularly the loss of any family. He hadn't ever had a brother, but even without, he could hardly imagine what it'd be like to be aware you likely weren't ever going to see your family again. Or know what happened to them.

His brows furrowed slightly, though, as he contemplated the implications. Loyd was sky, L'loyd was darkness, and F'loyd light...the sky was the light and the dark, then. In some fashion. Perhaps the Scavian's homeworld didn't have a visible sun, perhaps other reasons. But...well. It seemed a little pushy to ask for more right now. "L'lloyd..." he tested the trill, despairing of ever getting it quite right, but didn't press the issue as the alien suggested they take a walk.

"I wouldn't mind, no. I suppose it could at least allow for word association like 'tree' and 'water' and 'bird' or whatnot." He paused. "Well, assuming that your world has trees and birds and so on." Water was probably a given, but beyond that, it occurred to him that he had no idea what the alien might consider natural, as it were. "I really shouldn't assume your planet is anything like this one, after all..." He looked a little rueful.

"And...I thought Jade was your ariados?" He had the distinct impression that the spider wasn't who he was referring to, however, but he did wonder at that reference. And whether he was being presumptuous asking. "...but do feel free to tell me to mind my own business if I get too nosy, too," he added, to make sure the alien knew he wasn't obligated to answer anything.

The blind man stood up carefully, letting Isis settle comfortably onto his shoulder. The riolu kept an eye on Til'k, expression mostly curious as Ben dusted his pants off and let Floyd pick the direction for them to wander aimlessly in.

Floyd wound his way through the wood with Ben chattering at his back. He snickered to himself at the barrage of questions. Most he let slide right off him. There was plenty of time to talk about every little detail of his home world. But all in good time.

"You remember!" Floyd exclaimed, honestly surprised that his friend remembered that his fat spider was named Jade. "Yes, her name is Jade, and she's named after my fiance."

Movement put a halt to his march and he froze on the path. A shadow leaped across the trail and dived into brush. He could hear its hooves kicking up dry leaves as it raced through the wood.

"What do you reckon that was?" It sure wasn't something Floyd had ever seen before. Not on his world or this one. It was small and spindly legged with pert ears like a horse but with an overall much more slender build. If he'd had the good sense to drag out his pokedex, it would have told him it was a deerling.

Til'k did not care what this new thing was called by humans, the only name it needed from him was 'dinner'. The monster bolted by his master, claws kicking up clods of compost as he sped by. He crashed through the undergrowth, trying to catch up with the tastey treat.

Ben blinked at the Scavian's commentary. "Well, she's a bit memorable..." he managed, still processing the statement of who the spider was named after. He hadn't been aware the alien had a girlfriend, let alone a fianc. But then, he hadn't known Floyd had a brother, either. It felt him feeling a little guilty as he realized how little he actually knew about the alien.

Still, such questions could be considered very rude and prying, so he hadn't before now. He hadn't wanted to force the alien to bring up painful memories. As far as the blind trainer was aware, the Scavian was trapped on this planet somehow. This left him unable to see his brother or fianc any time soon, if ever. Not to mention his home planet.

It had taken him quite some time to pluck up the nerve to even ask about the language, after all. Ben hadn't wanted to offend his friend. However, the musing was disrupted by the sudden flurry of movement. He started a little, having been distracted by his own thoughts enough to not have noticed the deer's presence sooner.

"Huh...is that one of the new Jgseian pokemon?" His hub chirped in his ear a moment later, confirming his suspicion after a moment. He winced a little as Til'k crashed after the little deer, and quickly turned his attention elsewhere, not really wanting to pay too much attention to the hunting process. "Their evolution make some decent mounts, if I'm remembering correctly," he added to Floyd, leaving it up to the alien if he wanted to hunt down the deer as well, or save it from being dinner.

He might not like the idea much, but the world wasn't a nice place and he knew it. If Til'k needed dinner, so was the way it worked, really. And better the deer than him...horrible as that made him feel. He wasn't going to make a big deal about it, and he really didn't need the little deer himself.

The little green deer quivered in terror as the genticore crashed after him. He squealed in terror as the mutant monster flattened a bush right on his tail. The deerling put on a burst of speed and darting between the narrow space between a couple thick trunks in an attempt to lose the thing, charging southward as fast as his hooves could manage.

Baby deer is fleeing into Thick Forest 5 if we want to pursue it.

Floyd watched the forest where Til'k had vanished. All signs of life, bird song for the most part, had stilled. He looked back at Ben, answering, "I wouldn't know. But I guess we probably should follow him." He took off through the trees, checking the trail for broken twigs, foot prints, and splashes of drool which would indicate Til'k's trail.

[Leaving Deepwood Pond; Entering Thick Forest 4]

When they cought up to the bloody scene, they knew right away that the chase had been a short one. The baby deer had no hope of outrunning Til'k. Floyd stopped, quickly observed, and turned away. He didn't want to interrupt, merely locate.

The forest was reawakening, as if it somehow knew that it was once more safe. Floyd took the opportunity to think about something Ben had said, using the forest as a means to take their language lesson.

"We do not have anything like," He pointed to the carcass, "That, on Sordia." He said, "Passive creatures do not exist there. We are all predators. Even the plant life." He walked over to some sort of flowering vine which was trying very hard to slowly strangle a tree ten times its size. One day it would win its race. "Sa'lutre." He said simply. "Plant. Asil'sa'lutre. Snake plant, or Vine, if you prefer." He cupped one of the delicate blossoms in his hand. "L'sk. Beautiful." He considered the plant again. "Asil'sa'lutre." He caressed the plant. "L'sk Asil'sa'lutre."

Behind him, the monster was just finishing up his small meal, bones, fur and little but of the ground it was laying on.

Greenhouse *Need Rolls*

As they caught up to Til'k, it suddenly occurred to Ben that it'd be a good idea to get some sort of recording of the business for him to listen to later, so, with a questioning tilt of his head toward Floyd to make sure he didn't mind, set up the Control Hub to record, and ran over what they'd gone over so far, fumbling over the growling honorific as he said that. Good as he was at memorization, an entire language was going to be a bit much all at once. He'd guard the recording with his life, too, until he'd memorized it fully.

Ben tried very hard not to wrinkle his nose at the coppery scent of blood. Though this particular one had a strong overtone of sap. One wondered what the genticore thought of plant-meat. It was a whole new way of looking at eating one's vegetables, that was for sure. "That deer happens to be partially a plant as well, actually..." Ben pointed out thoughtfully as he considered the alien's words.

So it really was an eat or be eaten world. Or as close as it came, anyhow. He wondered how many of the plants fed on animals, and vice versa. Most of the local herbivores at least didn't as often have to worry about their dinner trying to choke them to death. But still. There were predatory plants around this world as well, such as carnivines, so the concept wasn't so surprising.

It was kind of hard to imagine a carnivorous tree, though.

Still, one of the words caught Ben's attention more than the rest, and he tilted his head. "L'isk..." he murmured, and shook his head as his mispronunciation. "L'ssk..." It was better, but still not perfect. Beautiful. That was a word he could appreciate, anyhow. There were the other words, though. Snake plant or vine...how appropriate. What had Floyd called it?

He paused at a movement nearby, head tilting as suddenly a gob of foul smelling goo splattered against Floyd's caressing hand. He quickly turned a snort of laughter into a cough as another vinelike plant scrambled out of the underbrush, shouting and waving leaves at the alien. It wasn't hard to figure out what the bellsprout was so irritated about by it's aura.

"Seems you're not the only one that thinks that...asil'ssalutre is l'ssk..." he said with a grin, aware he'd mispronounced the words slightly again. At the moment he was more amused by the fact that the bellsprout was so irate about the Scavian's caressing that vine. The plant continued to belabor the Scavian for making moves on 'his girl.' And while the stuff the plant had spat on Floyd smelled disgusting, it wasn't very acidic in nature, so wasn't trying to eat off his scales.

Ben backed off a little so as not to become a target, while keeping well clear of Til'k and his snack. He didn't want to catch flak for that, either, after all. "Sa'lutre...plant..." he muttered under his breath, correcting himself on that one. It was a lot easier than 'l'sk' for him to pronounce, anyhow.

Greenhouse in order as posted: 3,2,2

"Oh..." Floyd stared blankly at the mass of slimy goo oozing over his hand. The muscles around his gums twitched slightly, his cheeks pulling down into a very disgusted frown. He gave his hand a little shake, slinging some of mess off but not all of it. Floyd sighed and stared disapprovingly at the Bellsprout. "Was that really necessary?" He asked it gruffily.

Til'k, who was half way through his meal, looked up, a ragged limb still dangling out of the corner of his wide mouth. He slurped it up sloppily and snorted at Floyd - a Geneticore giggle-snort. Til'k liked the plant thing, mostly becuase it could vomit on things too. And it had puked on Floyd. The childish part of the young monster could help but find enjoyment out of its parents misfortune.

The alien studied the plant, still frowning. He didn't have a Bellsprout on Genesis. Or any of it's evolutions. So, vomit or no vomit, he intended to befriend this creature. But how does one talk to a plant? He'd never really tried it back at home. The plants weren't interested in what you had to say - they wanted to know how you tasted and then spend a few days digesting you. He was sure they considered themselves the ultimate food critiques.

Floyd scratched his chin with his not vomit covered claw and Hmmmm'd loudly at the angry little thing. "She's really quite lovely." Said the General at last. "Can't say that I blame you for getting upset. It's a real pity though. So much competition here for her. You must have a horrible time trying to keep all the other pokemon away from her." He shrugged, trying to act non-nonchalant. "Too bad you and she are not on Genesis..." He trailed off, then. "There are no plant types there to compete with." At least, none other than his own, and they never left their own green house except for when someone showed interest in meeting them personally. No need to tell Mr. Macho Bellsprout this though.

"Oh well!" Floyd announced lightly. "We'd best be going, right Ben?" He gave his human friend an encouraging elbow. "Shouldn't intrude on these love birds any more...Mr. Bellsprout has territory to protect and all."

The alien started to walk away, wondering if the plant would take the bait or not. Til'k slurped up the last of his meal, licked the ground thoroughly becuase the dirt still smelled tasty, and then he was ready to follow suit, whichever direction the alien and human ended up going.

Ben practically choked on a laugh, wrestling it back down instead of exacerbating the situation. Still, even though he couldn't see it, the belligerent little plant's aura made it quite clear that yes, that was indeed very necessary, folding those little leaf-arm things over it's twiggy stem.

Still, as the alien proceeded to commiserate, a furtive, wary glance flitted across the trees. The words had obviously struck a nerve with that. At least a bit. He wobbled a little on his stalk as Genesis was mentioned, confused momentarily. What was this then? But his suspicious nature kept him from jumping right into the notion, leaning protectively close to the pretty flowering vine.

Ben nodded a bit, still fighting a grin as he watched the byplay. "Indeed. And not to mention all the critters that would consider her a tasty snack. He's got his work cut out for him. Best we not distract him further." The bellsprout looked decidedly ill-at-ease as Ben straightened up and added an offhand remark to the Scavian's efforts. If the alien wanted the plant, he wasn't going to argue after all.

The sprout waggled a leaf in the air as they started off, "Belll-ell..." he took a step, but stopped, glancing around, as if worried about getting too far and leaving her unprotected. Still, Ben paused, to see what Floyd wanted to do. The sprout appeared to puff up slightly and waggled his leaves again, gabbling off a long stream of speech.

"He...admits that there's plenty of other plants around here that have tried to win her affections, but her heart is his, so that's a silly concern..." Isis murmured softly, piping up from Ben's shoulder. "I'm not sure he's so absolutely convinced of that, though..." she added in an undertone to her trainer, as he chuckled, nodding a little. There was a bit much bluff and bravado going on there.

"But, he does admit that it might be worth considering moving to someplace where they would have less competition for the sunlight, but...he also wants to know how he can even trust what we're saying. After all," she giggled, "what's to say that we aren't going to steal her off as soon as he lets his guard down. It sounds a bit too good to be true."

"Isis says that he'd like to why he should trust your word, since it sounds a bit too good to be true. He claims that there's no concerns of others winning her affection from him, but less competition for the sunlight might do them both good." Ben moved back and leaned against another tree, to let the Scavian continue his bargain.

Til'k looked over their shoulders from a distance. He picked at his teeth while Floyd stood, considering, while Ben translated the little plants thoughts.

"I can't say that I blame you. I mean, you'd be a real fool to trust me without a second thought. And there's the little problem of how you're little girlfriend would travel at all, of course. I have an extra pot that would work...but what am I saying! As you said, you're doing just fine here, and here I am poking my nose into your business."

Floyd turned his back on the plant and spied Til'k. "Ah! Look, Til'k is finished with his meal. Maybe we should be on our way. Lot's of lovely words for Ben to learn, after all. 'Che'," Floyd chirped. "For Instance. It means, honor, or trust. and 'Vozz'tuseh'n', means friend." He turned back around and grinned. "Should we be going? Any particular direction in mind?"

He'd let the plant make up his own mind. He would not force it to accompany him, or to pick up and move if it was truly content.

The plant hesitated some more, looking around uncertainly, as Ben perked up slightly, listening to the words given. "Che..." He nodded a little. That one was easy enough. Trust and honor...a useful word, indeed. Good to know, in Ben's mind. The other...

"Vozz...Vozz'tusen...tuseh." Ben made a slight face at properly getting that one out, but he was determined to get that one down even more so. "Vozz'tuseh...tuseh'n..." The wording was a bit mangled as he tried it out, but he got a decent approximation as he kept trying. Friend...

He would remember that one, for sure. Friends were important.

He hesitated a moment, then with ears reddening slightly, he asked a question of his own. "What's the word for love?" Not like he expected to need to ever use it, but curiosity won out. And it might be interesting to know, anyhow. He started off down through the trees away from the little plant.

As for the little plant, he looked around a bit nervously, then scampered after the scavian, gabbling away. Isis pricked her ears up, then said quietly, "If you show him this pot, he'd like to go, then...this island sounds like it might be better for them anyhow...less competition, more light."

Ben tilted his head a little and shrugs. "Show him the pot that you're going to bring his lady friend with and if it's okay, he'll go along with this. Can't argue with his assessment that there'll probably be more sun there, either." The trees here grew so thickly that anything was indirect if at all. Planted in the right spot on the island...and they'd have all the sun they could ever want.

Floyd stopped and smiled. Looking over his shoulder, he answered Ben, but was speaking to the plant. "The word for love? Vik'che." He chirped back. "Unless you mean in the purely platonic sense. That would be. Sa'vik'che. Or if you're simply feeling a little naughty...heh." He started snickering. "Grragh." He laughed hardily but didn't say what the word meant. The tone of his laugh hinted that Ben might have just learned his first expletive.

He reached into his pack and produced two items. A small clay pot and a pokeball. He sat them in front of the bellsprout. With a little bow he stepped back. "Your choice. The island really is lovely. Might be a few weeks before I get back there and can let you pick out a nice spot. But I'll do it." He gave them slightly lopsided grin.

Silently, he was envying Ben's ability to know what his pokemon was saying. How wonderful it would be to speak with someone other than Helsing.

While the plant made up his mind, Floyd focused on Ben. Answering questions was easy, but now he felt like asking one himself. "I appreciate you wanting to learn Scavian. But why bother? I'm the only one here. My language and traditions...they mean nothing to humans."

Ben coughed slightly at Floyd's words, making note of all three, though whether or not he'd use the third would be up for debate. The bellsprout examined the pot like a jeweler examining a diamond for any unsatisfactory blemishes on the thing. Only the best for his love, that was for sure.

He repeated the first two words a time or two as they waited, brows furrowing as the bellsprout poked at the pot with a leaf suspiciously. Of course, Floyd might have felt a little better if he knew that Ben could only speak with a few of his pokemon, mostly the psychics, pseudo-psychics and aura users. There were any number of times he wished he could talk with Jax like he could Anubis or Ninive.

He tilted his head in surprise at Floyd's question, falling silent for a moment as he contemplated it. "Why? Well...just, you've taken the time and effort to learn how to speak our language. I don't see why that's really fair, and really, it's interesting, to learn about other people and their languages, and their culture. And you're my friend, Floyd."

Ben shrugged a little and petted Isis. "And, it's important to you, all that, isn't it? What sort of friend wouldn't want to understand what's important to their friends?" Probably plenty, really, but Ben really wasn't that sort of person. He shrugged a little and continued. "I also admit, I like languages a lot. I may not be so good at the written side, but I love learning how to speak them as best I can. And this one...well...I dunno. I just thought maybe it might be nice for you to have someone you could speak in it to from time to time, maybe. I can't imagine really, how lonely it might get, sometimes."

The plant harrumphed softly after a moment or three, unable to find anything obviously unsatisfactory on the pot, and settled back, before going over and crooning to his girlfriend, and shooting one last wary look at Floyd, he poked the pokeball's button, getting sucked up into it without a single wiggle of protest.

Floyd couldn't help himself. He watched Ben as he replied. He sniffed rather dramatically and then, without warning, He latched hold of Ben and gave him a bear hug. "I love you too man!" He stood back and wiped away some snot. "No really, that's the nicest thing anyone has ever said to me." More snot wiping. "You'd made a damn good Scavian, but for a human, you ain't so bad."

He stooped, picked up the pokeball, and then began carefully transplanting the vine to the pot. "I should water it soon. The transplant will be too much otherwise. Don't want its roots drying out. Little bellsprout won't like me much if I let his girlfriend wilt."

He started walking again, following the geneticore through the woods. "You're right, it does get lonely sometimes. I miss my own kind. I miss the woods and the water. I miss the dark and the colors that pulsed from the every living thing. My family, and Jade, and taking weekend trips to some space station for parties." He looked back. "Sorry, you don't need my baggage. You're a good friend, Ben. You're one of the few humans I've ever trusted. Maybe the only one that's stuck with me."

They walked a little further until he noticed Til'k was crouched and stalking something. "Til'k, you've eaten, try not to decimate the forest in one sitting, ok?" The monster whined and when back to watching whatever it was he could see. Floyd crouched near him to get a better look.

"Oh, check this out. It's a little pink....rolly pokemon."

There, in the wood, running about after leaves that were tossed on the breeze, was a single Munna. It had not yet picked up on their presence.

And then there was hugging. Isis squeaked, bounding out of Ben's arms to scramble out of the way of getting squished by the bear hugging as Ben grunted as the air was squished out of him. Though, once he got over the surprise (and his breath back), the blind trainer chuckled a little and gave the alien a hug back. "Well, I meant it all."

He wasn't really sure he would make a good Scavian himself, but he wasn't going to argue that point, mainly because he wasn't sure what would make a good or bad Scavian. And he took the 'not too bad' for a human line as a compliment, not even bothering to get offended by the implication that most people in his species weren't all that great.

Honestly, half the time he'd agree anyhow.

Ben listened interestedly as Floyd explained a bit about all the things he missed, as Isis scuttled ahead, watching Til'k cautiously as she explored. "It's fine, really," he added, with a wave as Floyd apologized, wondering a little at the comment about the humans, feeling a slightly momentary stab of guilt for leaving the OME. But...he'd never really felt like he fit there. And he'd rather be the alien's friend than his subordinate any day. "I wouldn't mind hearing more about your home sometime. It sounds beautiful."

And it really did, though probably also dangerous, from some other tidbits he had heard. But there were other things to worry about, like a walking appetite and a potential dinner. Ben really wasn't sure he wanted to let the monster eat anything else at the moment, anyhow. "Munna..." he mumbled as his Hub chirped into his ear. "Not sure if anyone has one of those..."

Even less so was Isis. She glanced toward Til'k, then started creeping toward the playful psychic, before trying to join in the game, sending leaves scattering every which way. Ben considered thoughtfully. "Been kind of thinking it'd be nice to complete the pokedex one day..." he added quietly to his alien companion, in way of explaining his earlier comments. "Specifically the fourth set, but all of it would be nice..."

Couldn't hurt to see if she was interested in coming along and making even more friends or something. Though it'd be good to let the game play a little more first, though if Til'k decided to try to eat anyhow, things would get interesting fast. Isis wagged her tail as she pounced on a couple leaves, glancing to the Munna. "Hi..." she mumbled a little shyly, looking down quickly after a moment.

The pink pokemon gave a start and soft squeal at the sight of Isis, but didn't run away. Timidly she studied the newcomer and then, very carefully, she crept forward and gave the pup a sniff. With a happy squeak, she hopped straight in the air and ran a circle around her new friend, enticing her to play in the leaves.

"Home is something I could go on about for hours, in delicious detail." The alien grinned. "You might regret ever getting me started!" He thought quietly about his friends comment on the pokedex. "It's a big task, trying to finish it. And more being discovered all the time. If I have anything at all you could use to finish the dex, I'll be happy to share. I'm trying for more than data myself. I want Genesis to have one of every species available for people to see whenever they want. Every evolution. Sometimes I don't think I'll get there, but, I have a good start. One at a time, right?" He was already thinking about the little bellsprout. It would be the only one on the island as far as he knew. That should make it very happy.

Meanwhile, a tag team leaf-off had sprung up between the two frolicking pokemon. Til'k watched enviously, his hunger presently sated. Floyd's warning hand rested on his back, a gentle warning to let the two much smaller creature have their fun.

"That's a very friendly little thing - trusting. I bet it would follow Isis anywhere." Floyd commented with interest. "In Scavian, trust is 'Che'" he continued with the impromptu language lesson. "Remember that I said Love is 'Vik'che'? You cannot have love without trust."

Berry me!

"Love without trust...very, very true..." Ben nodded a little to himself. "You have a very logical language, pal." He grinned a bit toward the Scavian. "Che...vik'che. Makes a lot of sense." He tilted his head a little as he focused on the pair of pokemon, thinking quietly on that for a minute or two.

Isis smiled a bit more, and grabbed a few pawfuls of leaves to toss into the air for both of them to chase around, and giggled softly after a few rounds of this, paws flying over the thick loam as she darted here and there trying to catch them and toss them at the munna, for her to dodge or blow away with her little trunk.

The riolu giggled and flopped over after a time, gasping for breath. "Okay...you win. That was fun, though..." She panted and wagged her tail, wiggling it back and forth a few times as she lay there, then rolled back to her feet and tilted her head. "Do you have many friends around here?"

She picked a leaf up and tossed it into the air huffing to try to blow it higher into the air, thoughtfully. "I'm Isis, by the way." The riolu giggled a little, with another shy smile. Ben smiled a little as he considered the pair.

"What's the word for friend?" Ben almost felt silly for not asking that one sooner, at this point.

Berry roll: 3,3,2

"Not so much logical as primitive." Floyd replied. Scavians are not a very old race. We are advanced only because the dominant race of our planet chose to teach us. Our spoken language is not nearly as in depth as yours. As I've said before, there's quite a bit of body language involved to clarify meaning and create emphasis."

The munna skidded to halt, breathless. "Nope! I've not seen another munna around here in ages!" Munna promptly tried to imitate Isis, to compete who could keep a leaf in the air the longest. She was still listening intently though. "Isis. I like that name! I don't have one though. Names are a human habit, I think." She continued to dance around.

Floyd watched the pair with a smile on his face. His claws were dug into Til'k's scaled for safety's sake. "Friend is also a combination of words. Vos and Tuseh'n. Vos is a term generally used for a person whom you are familiar with. Someone you know. Tuseh'n is to increase, to need more of. Vos'tuseh'n - you're literally saying a person you need more of." He chuckled deeply. "Likewise, Vos'tusah'n means a person you need less of, an enemy."

A puzzled looked came over the alien's face and he continued. "Since we're on the subject. Zen means family and Zen'tuseh'n means mate or spouse I guess. Zen'tuseh'n'ya is wife, and Zen'tuseh'n'ye is husband."

He wasn't sure why he felt inclined to add that part, but it struck him that Ben might like to know something like that. He wasn't sure why.

"Tusen'eh..." Ben frowned a little as he mangled a bit of it, but shrugged it off. "Vos'tusen'eh..." Hard to get the right inflection, but he practiced it a few times until he was satisfied, as far as it went. And then, the other part.

"Vos'tusan'h...interesting, really..." He mumbled it mostly to himself. Such a small change to go from friend to enemy. To need more of, or less. Such fine lines. "I think you're not giving your language the credit it deserves, personally..."

He tilted his head as the Scavian continued, listening quietly as he explained further. "Zen...family." He tilted his head slightly as he considered the other details. 'Ya' apparently had some sort of feminine connotation, while 'Ye' was the male equivalent, then. He filed it all away to think about later, but the comment made him think of something else as well.

"So, do Scavians have...um. Do they ever 'adopt' someone into their family, or..." He frowned a little. "Sometimes people will claim kinship with a particularly close friend. Where they will claim a relationship with someone to say that they now consider them family. Not as close as husband or wife or the like...but sort of like a sister or brother." Ben wasn't sure how much the alien had studied human culture to have read about any such things as blood brotherhood or sworn sisterhoods or the like.

But the earlier comment about making a good Scavian paired with the mention of family, for some reason, had made the thought pop into his head, anyhow.

Isis giggled and puffed the leaf up higher, as she saw the new game going, trying to talk between huffs of air to keep it airborne, skittering after it as a stray gust of wind sent it flittering away from her. "Sounds a little lonely..." She did think it was a little sad that the little pink thing didn't have any friends. She was such a nice creature.

"I guess a human did give it to me, but I don't mind, it's pretty, like you said." She squeaked and puffed the leaf into the air as it came perilously close to her nose. "I stay with him now, he's a very good person..." She flicked her ears uncertainly. "He saved me from some very bad people. And my brother too. You...don't mind, do you? That I travel with a human?"

"Oh yes." Floyd said right away. "My brother and I are adopted, as you call it, but not in the way you think of it. There are two types of kinship among Scavians. You are either official family, or unofficial family. The difference has nothing to do with blood, but name. If you adopt a child, as you do in your society, there is no step-parent or step-child. From that moment on, you are simply Zen. There are different classes of family, and once you adopt, the person bears the name of the clan and its responsibilities. From that point on, your action reflects on the clan and whether it is an honorable one or not. In a Scavian family, the actions of one, reflect on the actions of all, good or bad. The only time it is not disgraceful to change your name is when a pair mate. One will choose the more honorable family and take it as their own. Changing your name at any other time suggests you are ashamed of your own.

"Now that's the official type, the unofficial type relates to situations like my own, where you are proud of your family name, but another has to take responsibility for and act in the place of the parent. My father and godfather were very close friends, but also of the same rank and their family names without blemish. Even if my godfather had been a more honorable name I would have thought it disgraceful to abandon my fathers name for something as slight as number of accomplishments. Lloyd and I were old enough to decide for ourselves and both agreed that the adoption would not be by name but responsibility only. This made Morgan our Godfather and not our actual father. He became Lixzen'Rraj'ye. My father remained Zen'Rraj'ye to us and I kept the name Tuseh'n'kresah'rraj'k, one that Lloyd and I have a right to some variation of when we marry. I would become, F'loyd'n'kresah'rraj'k."

Floyd smiled and remained quiet for some time while he watched the two pokemon play. He was deep in thought and memories and seemed a little sad. He wasn't sure if this answered Ben's question.

Munna squeaked indignantly at Isis. "Of course not!" She cried. "I don't mind humans at all. Where do you think all my friends went? They were the lucky ones, finding humans to go play with. Now they travel all the time, I guess." She stopped playing and looked very serious. "Your human saved you, you said. Your human must be very nice. C-can I meet him?" Well, that was a round about way of saying that the Munna hoped to find a human too - Maybe Isis' human! Not awkward at all.

Isis blinked in surprise, then smiled, another shy little thing. "Oh he is the nicest human I've ever met. The ranch is full of wonderful humans, really, where we all live these days..." She huffed at her leaf again, and wrinkled her nose as it flittered off to the side and landed on the ground, before hopping back toward Ben and his companions.

Oright, companions. Isis hesitated. "Um. He's traveling with a friend of his...who's a bit odd, but seems nice enough. He's not human, and he has a scary monster thing for a pet...so you're not too surprised. Ben's human though, and a very good person, like I said."

Ben tilted his head a little as he listened to Floyd's exposition, with a great deal of interest. This offered a surprising amount of insight into his Scavian friend, and he was quite intrigued bu the details as a whole. "So your name doesn't change...so to speak..." He furrowed his brows, but after several moments of hesitation, decided against trying to mangle the name at the moment.

After all that, it almost seemed...disrespectful, somehow.

Though, if it was only once married, and all things considered...Ben kept that question from being voiced, though. The Scavian was already feeling homesick enough, no reason to make it worse. "Thanks, Floyd." Ben hesitated a moment or two, and then reached out to rest a hand on the alien's shoulder. "Sorry I can't help you get back home or something."

He knew it wasn't as simple as simply programming coordinates in the Sunflare, or the Scavian would have done so, after all. And even that was a bit beyond him, though the living ship did still intrigue him a little. "If..."

He didn't get to continue, however, as Isis came their way a moment later, trailing the munna. "She wanted to meet you, Ben..." Isis said, shuffling her paws nervously. "All her friends found nice humans to go adventuring with and so..."

Ben knelt down to ruffle the riolu's ears with an affectionate smile. "That's fine, Isis..." Ben nodded in the munna's general direction, though he never met her gaze, since he couldn't, appearing to focus on a point a little above the top of her back instead. "I'm not sure how much adventure I can promise, but I certainly don't mind company, and when not on adventures, all my companions live on a ranch and can go on their own adventures or the like with each other..."

The blind trainer tilted his head a little, as he spoke quietly, in as friendly a fashion as possible. "It's up to you really, of course, but if you wanted to come along, you're welcome, and if you don't like things, I can certainly do my best to find a human that suits you more if you want or such, too..."

3 My 6 month slump is at an end. I've found an older variation of my dictionary and should be able to rebuild the missing entries with this thread! In the mean time we should probably cut the language lesson short.

The little Munna was watching intently, an apparent hunger in her eyes. The moment Ben suggested an invitation to join him, she had pounced upon his shoe's and squealed with glee. She wasn't about to allow him to rescind the offer. She had been alone for too long.

Ben had acquired a new companion, and Isis a new playmate.

Floyd though, was thoughtful. He appeared to be watching the pokemon and Ben. That was the problem with Scavians, you couldn't really tell when their minds were wandering - there was no glazed expression to be found in their eyes since they had no eyes. When he finally came back to himself, he sounded distracted.

"Would you mind if we continued the lesson another day?" the muscles about his lipless mouth had tugged his features into a frown. "I uh, think maybe I should get that Bellsprout back to the island. I wouldn't want him thinking I deceived him." It was an obvious dodge. His uneasiness had bled into his voice. To a trained listener, it was plain that the alien was pleading.

3 :lp <3 Glad to hear you've found stuff and so on...sometimes we all need a break and all. *nodnods* Glad to see you around again and all. And I'm glad that working on this helped save some of your stuff for better recovery too, yay!

42 LP gained in this thread, 24 Watmels and a level 42 Munna. Will register her to a Luxball for 2 base happy or does she come with extra hearts?

GREENHOUSE

And then there was a pink thing making love to his shoes. He decided not to contemplate this too much and leave her to attach herself there, waiting until she'd calmed down to pick both her and Isis up gently. It seemed kind of rude to just shove her into a ball right away, honestly.

Most might not have noted the subtle undertone of the Scavian's gravely voice, but Ben had gotten used to the strange accent and speech patterns of Floyd, and he petted Isis with a nod. Even without being able to read the alien's voice, Ben's aura-empathy left him with no doubt that something had been stirred in the alien's hearts at the turn of conversation.

"We can continue another time, sure. I...didn't mean to bring up old hurts, Floyd. Sorry." He might not see eye to eye all the time with his own family...but at least he could go see them. That had to be a little lonely. He shifted Isis up to his shoulder to rest a hand on Floyd's shoulder.

"I'm honored to be able to consider you vos'tuseh'n, F'loyd'vise'k. Don't forget that, and if you need anything, let me know and I'll do what I can." His pronunciation was rough, but he did the best he could, like the Scavian did with English, and he smiled at the alien, as Isis barked quiet agreement from his shoulder.

Munna comes with +2 happy.

The alien forced a laugh and patted Ben on the back. "No worries. I'm fine." He waved the geneticore back to his side. "We'll get back together soon though. Besides," He looked down at the human's feet. "You seem to have your hands full." He smiled, and this time his laugh was genuine.

Floyd enjoyed Ben's company and hoped the human wouldn't take his sudden departure personally. He had found that dwelling on the past was more than he could cope with. Old emotions were always in danger of bubbling to the surface. He had never been able to deal with his feelings regarding his situation. As the years past, his rancor only grew. The only way he knew to combat in his inner demons, were to ignore them entirely. More frequently though, those demons were becoming harder to drown out.

Floyd bid Ben farewell for the time being and hurried away to vent his frustration. Til'k licked Ben in passing and loped after his alien.
