The Rose gym had left an impression on the alien. Now more than ever he wanted a leech - an electric leech. He'd seen a giant one in the mountains, and he'd fought a perfectly normal one that happened to belong to Boe. Floyd wanted one. He thought they had the most endearing face and were pretty tough too. Finding one of his own wasn't going to be so easy though.

It seemed like the pokemon of the world saw him and always sent their big brothers out. Floyd did not want an adult leech, he wanted a baby. A Tynamo. So, with this in mind, the only one with him at the moment was Til'k, the overgrown hulking monster with a taste for humans.

Not that this helped at all. Drooling monsters didn't really go in the same sentence as baby pokemon. Nevertheless, Floyd pushed open the doors of the vast building and stepped into the stifling heat of a geothermal powerplant.

"Here Leechy-leechy-leechy....come to Floyd." he called down the hall. He saw nothing and motioned for Til'k to follow him inside and close the door.

Power plants were notorious for attracting wild electric pokemon; whether they literally fed on the power or simply drew on it for their attacks, there was nothing quite like living in a place that generated such large quantities of it. They were occasionally chased off when they got too greedy or unruly, but for the most part they were ignored, ripe for the catching for trainers who decided to try hunting them. Provided they didn't break anything in the process.

However, right now it was quiet. Relatively, at least, since the equipment in the plant provided constant background noise as Floyd and Til'k started their search. Maybe there had been a recent chasing-off, or maybe they were all hiding out of sight because they didn't want to tangle with a pair of things that they didn't know what they were.

Or maybe they were a little preoccupied with something else.

A deep roar carried through the hall, shifting slightly in pitch a couple of times before it ended. The sound of racing hoof beats followed as a blitzle rounded the corner and started sprinting right at Floyd and Til'k, seemingly so mindless with terror that he didn't notice or care what was in front of him. When it finally did register that he was running at someone, he frantically tried to stop, sliding to a halt right in front of them the barest second before his hind end hit the ground and he was left staring up at the eyeless alien and drooling monster from an awkward and unintentional sitting position.

"Please don't eat me!" the little zebra whinnied in desperation, his legs shaking as he tried to stand up again.

Whatever had been chasing him, however, did not appear in pursuit.

"Do you hear that?" Floyd whispered to his son. A sound not at all like the thrumming machinery made them both freeze in their tracks. It was fast clicking and clopping sound as if something hard was clacking against the the tile floor.

The Geneticore sniffed the air tentatively and meeped with glee. His whole body wriggled with happiness. And then around the corner a small horse like creature galloped full throttle, hooves skidding on the tile as he rounded the bend like a Nascar driver on his last circuit. Floyd imagined the little thing had a proper 'oh shit' when it saw him and Til'k blocking the hallway. It threw it's feet out and drew to a skidding halt, it's eyes wide with feat.

It whinnied at him - Rather urgently.

Floyd was one of the few dummies in Opaddeka who did not understand one word of pokemon speech. If he didn't have Helsing to translate, he was lost. Most of the time. He knew a 'don't eat me' look when he saw one.

"Oh hey...woooe, little buddy. We ain't going to hurt you. We're uh...looking for a...leech." He stopped and peered down the hall. "What are you running from anyway?" While he talked, he produced a blue berry from his pack and showed it to the zebra. It could have it if it liked. It was just an oran.

Meanwhile, the alien was observing the creature's markings and realizing that he had seen this pokemon before - It's adult form anyway. This was a species native to Jgsei. He recalled, vividly, the havoc the warriors had caused while astride their Zebstrika mounts, and his respect for the small creature grew. He might have come for a leech but if he could find a few other pokemon interested in joining him, he would be grateful.

But first things first. This critter had a problem that was much more important than his, and from the speed it took the corner, he imagined that problem wouldn't be mystery for long.

[encountered fleeing blitzle - gave it an oran]

The blitzle quickly showed himself to be too scared to eat as it sniffed in the general direction of the berry but didn't try to take it, much more focused on trying to force his legs to carry himself despite feeling like jelly. He wasn't entirely sure if he should trust the word of something so very...toothy, but he certainly wasn't going to run back that way if he could help it. A possibility of being eaten was better than a certainty.

"There's a monster down there," the little zebra said as he quivered. It didn't seem to occur to him that Floyd may not understand him. Glancing from one scary thing to the other, he added, "A big, black, furry monster." As opposed to the bright orange toothy monster and the...he really didn't have a description for Til'k. There were just so many parts of the him that looked scary.

As for said monster, there was no sign of it after a few moments, nor any sound after the initial one that sent the black-and-white herbivore running. However, another striped pokemon eventually emerged, but this one was one Floyd would be quite familiar with: an arcanine. He wasn't moving at much more than a brisk walk, but his nose was to the floor, tail waving as he tracked the scent he was very intent on to the exclusion of all else.

But there was something following the dog with a faint 'click click' of claws on tile, and a smaller black creature came into view as well.

A black creature with four amber eyes.

"Tiger, stop." The growling voice made the arcanine halt in place, and when he looked up he hopped back in surprise with a tiny yelp and thudding of large paws. He offered a very tentative half-wag of his tail, but remained right where he was.

The voice's owner rose to her hind legs, and simply stared. She blinked rapidly, but the transparent eyelids didn't break the shocked stare. Long ears shifted forward, and slowly she pulled back her lips to bare her fangs in a smile, radiating uncertainty. She was wearing nothing but her one-piece black garment and brown belt, with a pack of the same colour slung over her shoulder and an empty bottle for a Paralyze Heal hanging loosely in one clawed hand.

"Floyd..." Aurora rumbled; with all he'd been doing, she wouldn't be surprised if he'd forgotten all about her. But she hadn't forgotten him. Far from it. "I...It's been..." She shifted her weight from paw to paw as she cut off, finally settling on a simple, "...Hello."

5 Oh! Thank you! This is a really nice surprise.

Poor trembling little mite. Floyd wanted to pat it on the head and reassure it, but given that it was still too frightened to even think about the gift he offered, he stayed his hand and knelt very slowly instead.

"If there is another creature chasing you, Little One, then let us help. Get behind us and we'll block the hall and put a stop to it." At this Til'k gave a very agreeable snort. Babies were not things to be picked on. The motherly part of the ditto in his brain wouldn't hear of such a thing. His paternal instincts, given to him by Squishy, had kicked in. He promptly stepped back and pressed his lizardish frame to the wall, to admit clear and easy passage.

That's about when Floyd heard something approaching from down the corridor. Heavy paws padding the hard tile - a massive arcanine with the finest, fullest, mane of hair Floyd had ever seen on such a dog, rounded the bend, nose snorting and huffing at the trail he followed.

It was the voice that called after it that made his weaker heart skip a beat. Clasping the little black box which was wired to his chest, he gasped for breathe and struggled to remain calm. He felt light headed and was glad he was already kneeling or surely he would have passed out right there.

He could never forget her.

Then there she was, standing at the end of the hall, just behind her majestic dog. Just as fascinating, just as beautiful - no - more so now. She carried with her a posture only confidence and experience could gain - Sleek and cat like, unquestionably amphibious, undeniably deadly. For just one moment he was back at the Little Cup catching his first glimpse of her and falling in love.

For just one moment he was ready to put aside his speciest resolve and propose - Only for a moment though. He was true to Jade, no matter how far away or how impossible their joining might be.

"Aurora..." He licked his dry gums anxiously. "I haven't heard a word about you since the tournament, and now here..." He clawed the wall to get to his feet, catching a glimpse of the little horse that was still so frightened, and now he knew what of. Inconspicuously as possible, he positioned himself between the frightened creature and the object of his adoration. "I never dared dream the gods would bless me with a second meeting with one so lovely. Tell me you've been well."

He ached to know all that happened to her since their brief meeting, and all that had come before. He wanted to know all about her but had never been given the chance. And now it seemed, that the little horse he was hoping to befriend and protect appeared to be her pray. This was not going to be a time for pleasantries. He sensed it, and so did the demon within the idol he wore about his neck.

[tried to position self between Blitzle and alien lady]

4 :lp Hee. You're welcome. I've been itching to do this for a while.

Aurora watched Floyd stand, and she turned her head to one side slightly at his words, averting her front-most eyes but still seeming to watch him with the one further back on that side. Her tail swished slightly, and it looked like she may be blushing beneath that dark fur. "Flatterer," she said softly, almost teasingly. She looked at him more directly again. "I have. I've been focused on training, for the most part. Coco and Rex have grown up a great deal since you last saw them."

Her arcanine gave a small whine, moving over to nudge her shoulder with his nose. She reached over with her free hand to gently scratch his chin. "Be at ease, hokra. This is the one I told you about."

The blitzle was completely silent, trembling more violently the more he heard the salamander-cat's growling voice. But Aurora was speaking to Floyd and, if she had any idea the zebra was even there, there was nothing in her body language that indicated such. "But it does seem I've managed to terrify nearly everything in this building..." Her gills opened in what sounded like it may be her equivalent of an exasperated sigh. "Including some humans." Her face was not as well-known as it had been, after all.

Aurora flashed her teeth again. "What brings you here?"

Floyd recalled when he'd first arrived in Opaddeka and had been forced to befriend humans all over again. It was a weary task and had sent him into hiding in the Forest of Fury for several months. He still didn't talk about what happened there (mostly becuase I never finished the free form - ha!). And while he could easily sympathize with her present plight, he was still confused. The most he'd ever managed was startling someone - unless he had actually intended to frighten them. It wasn't as if humans were not used to seeing strangely shaped creatures at every turn. Floyd for one, found Aurora much easier on the 'eyes', so to speak, than himself.

"I can see that." he said, nodding toward the towering lizard and hulking giant who had joined the group in the now cramped corridor. "Your pokemon have become quite formidable."

Still trying to keep a casual stance, he was really at a loss about what to do with the little pony just behind him. While it had not yet bolted, it was sure to at any moment. He would have to play his cards carefully. Offending the lovely and deadly lady whom he'd finally been reunited with, or scaring off a potential partner, were not options for him.

"I'm here for two reasons. The foremost being that I have recently encountered a species of pokemon from Jgsei, a large electric Leech. I've fallen in love with it and am determined to find one who will join my cause." He laughed heartily, a deep throaty sound much like barking. "My cause is the other reason. The military and the public have joined forces to create a trainer's paradise on an island south of Corporcana. We let any come, but members, those who have committed themselves to the life of a Trainer, are permitted behind the scenes access. Part of which includes being able to see other member's pokemon and learn about them in relaxing, safe settings for the creatures themselves. In this respect, I'm helping both myself, and the new trainers just starting out, beef up their pokedexes and expand their knowledge of the creatures they work with."

He puffed himself up slightly. He was very proud of this project and wanted very much to make it a success. It was one where everyone could profit. And, by being a bit more formal than necessary with his explanation, he had set the terms down before the Blitzle. He took this opportunity to glance at the little horse and tilt his head thoughtfully. If it wasn't something the horse wanted anything to do with, it could certainly resume its flight down the hall. Floyd would not stop it.

Aurora's tail swished back and forth in a relaxed rhythm, her weight shifting subtly on her paws here and there seemingly in compensation for its movements. She wasn't in any true danger of losing her balance while standing two-legged, but it was easy to see that it wasn't her most natural of stances. She'd apparently been walking around on all fours at least partly during her prowl of the power plant's halls, after all. That in itself made her seem more the beast and less the person to the average human who were unfamiliar with her, let alone other factors she would no doubt bring up if she were aware of Floyd's confusion.

Instead, she perked up slightly, her smile widening, at Floyd's mention of the leech pokemon. "I've seen pictures of those. They are endearing, aren't they?" What she didn't say was that she herself was mostly enamoured with the basic stage, though she certainly didn't dislike the later evolutions. The little baby leeches were just so darn cute.

The explanation of Genesis, however, seemed to pique her interest all the more. "I...had heard about the resort, but I didn't know much. It sounds like quite the project. I may have to plan a visit." An amused chuckle rumbled from her chest like a growl. "At the least, I'm not one to turn down the opportunity of a swim in the ocean." She wasn't a salt-water dweller by nature, but it did her no harm, and she imagined that the beach would be a little less crowded in the dawn and dusk, when she most liked to swim, than the middle of the day.

When Floyd looked back at the little zebra, he'd find that he was not trembling quite as much, and he looked back, also tilting his head. The fact that the big black monster wasn't eating him, or even fighting the orange toothy monster, had sunk in to his frightened brain, and now he was...tentatively curious. Not enough to stop hiding behind Floyd, but enough to keep listening. Aurora, when the other alien looked away, opened her jaws slightly and took in a small breath through her mouth that she exhaled through her gills.

"Plusle?"

"Minun!"

Two little faces suddenly poked out of Coco's particularly lush pine-like tail, and the pair of rodents scampered down to sit at Aurora's feet. The salamander-cat gave another of her chuckles, looking down at them. "Enjoying yourselves, you scamps?" They nodded their heads in unison with happy squeaks. Coco just looked relieved that they were no longer hitching a ride on her.

Floyd was starting to relax. The lovely lady had yet to pounce and rip his throat out. That had to count for something. She even liked the idea of coming to Genesis one day. For some reason this made him feel all warm and fuzzy inside. That is, until he remembered he had a girlfriend. One he'd never see again, but he still hoped he might. And that was what made him really pathetic. After seven years, he was sure she'd moved on, been told he was dead or otherwise, and really he should do the same.

But he couldn't. What tied him to Jade went beyond simply liking her or wanting to be with her and until the universe told him she was dead, he wouldn't feel that same vibe with anyone else. When Scavian referred to soul mates, they meant it. Which also made getting on with life in a situation such as his damn near impossible.

He wondered if she felt the same way.

So, smiling gladly in spite of his inner turmoil of emotion, he flicked his tail happily and said, "I'd be happy to arrange the best apartments for you during your stay. The deluxe suits are below sea level and have views of the ocean floor." He meant it too, he'd be more than happy to pull strings for Aurora.

And suddenly there were more little creatures popping their heads into view. She apparently had her entire team out with her while she prowled through the corridor. No wonder the little zebra had been running for its life. With an entourage like that, who wouldn't? Floyd's bright grin twisted into a frown - not much different really, other than you couldn't see his back teeth anymore through the grimace.

"If you don't mind my saying so, I think I know why you're scaring every pokemon you meet in here." He gestured with a sweep of his hand at her team. Then, thinking about it, he and Til'k weren't going to have much luck in the first impression department either. He said as much. "It's not going to be easy finding baby leeches in this place with so many of us running around -" And looking toothy, he added silently.

He kneeled back down next to the little blitzle. "I know you're still pretty shook up." He told it as gently as he could, "Aurora here is a friend of mine, she and her pokemon won't hurt you, and neither will we." He gave that a moment to sink and revealed a pokeball from his jacket. "You know that island I was telling her about? I would really like to have your company there, if you want to go. But if you don't that's fine. This is your home and leaving with something that looks like me would be a pretty big decision. I think we would both very much like to find some of those baby leeches though. Maybe you could help us out here, since we're not having much luck on our own?"

Aurora turned her head slightly in the same way she had when Floyd called her lovely, fussing with the Paralyze Heal bottle in her hands, when he offered to pull strings. On one paw, the offer clearly made her a hint uncomfortable, but on the other...who wouldn't love a chance to have a room below the water? That was something you sat around with your pack-mates, half-drunk, proclaiming your desire for. Part of the checklist for 'the vacation I'll have when I leave the homeworld and get rich.' "I'll keep that in mind..." she said quietly.

When Floyd pointed out her entourage, she briefly looked up at Rex towering above her, then at the two rodents at her feet. "I...It was really only Tiger and I at first..." But she saw his point. As he addressed the zebra, she tucked the empty bottle into her pack and then pulled a few pokeballs off her belt, recalling her sceptile, rhydon, and arcanine one after the other.

Her plusle and minun, lacking their leafy mount, scampered up to each sit on one of her shoulders, earning another deep chuckle. She reached up to scratch one of them gently under the chin with the tip of her claw, then turned her attention to the other alien again.

The blitzle listened, and he sniffed in the direction of the pokeball very briefly. It was probably the use of the word 'friend' that got through to him the most. The monsters were friends. And they wanted...to be friends with him, too? Wanted his help or, in the case of Floyd, to bring him to his special island? But he was so little and weak...why was he special?

"I...really am sorry about roaring at you," came an addition from Aurora, actually looking at blitzle for the first time since she appeared. She, again, inhaled a little bit through her mouth and exhaled through her gills.

The blitzle shrank down a little, but processed these words and looked from Aurora and her two little friends--he hadn't realized at all that she'd had such not-scary pokemon with her, only remembering her sharp teeth and claws--to Floyd, then back at T'ilk. The monsters were being nicer to him than some of the other pokemon here could be.

Maybe he could at least help his new monster friends. He bobbed his head a little and, still a little shakily, made to trot around and past Floyd and start down the hall. He could find the little energy-suckers. Or at least he'd sure try.

Aurora watched this, waiting for Floyd to start following first. "You are welcome to the first one we find, rokro. Since you convinced him to guide us," she said, flashing her teeth as the affectionate name she'd once used at the end of their match rolled from her mouth.

It was the honourable thing to step aside. Not that her general code of honour really had anything like this in it, since one of their kind hunting something to befriend it and being willingly guided by another beast wasn't really something that could be predicted in the old times. But it was honourable to allow the one who did the most work in tracking and taking down an animal to eat first, so she applied the general idea to this. Speaking of which...

"...Perhaps we could hunt together sometime," she commented idly, partly thinking aloud. Real hunting, out in the wilds for food, rather than searching for captures in this human-made structure.

3 Sorry. Motivation totally died so this is going to be pretty sad...

Floyd watched as the little zebra ignored the pokeball, but trotted down the hall instead, seemingly ok with the latter part of the plea. He would help them to find leeches! This overjoyed Floyd and he turned about with a 'you first gesture' when Aurora spoke up. He smiled and gave an incredulous shake of his head. She was certainly not a female of his species. Normal Scavian females found the traditional hunt boring and would rather concoct some complicated highly calculated maneuver that involved automatic weapons...instead of creeping slowly behind one little beast and killing it with your claws.

He bowed deeply to the lady, showing her as much respect as possible. "Thank you." He said simply. And off he trotted, quietly padding passed Til'k to catch up with the blitzle. Til'k waited for the cat lady to pass before following. She'd made the offer to Floyd, not himself, after all.

Aurora was not a typical female of any species but her own. And even that was debatable.

The bow just earned Floyd an incredulous head-shake of his own and a rumbling chuckle from the feline. It seemed she was past being embarrassed and had simply decided that the fellow alien was crazy. Crazy in a good way, mind you. She looked up at T'ilk and gave him a toothy grin and respectful nod before she followed the Scavian and blitzle. It hardly needed saying that the hulking genticore didn't intimidate her at all, and the rodents on her shoulders followed her lead, also smiling at him.

For some time, there were just a few long hallways and the sounds of hooves and claws against the tile floor. Occasionally the little zebra would pause and tilt his head to one side as he tried to remember where he should go next. Those little leeches were elusive, but he'd find them for his monster friends, yes he would.

Then Aurora took in a breath through her mouth and stopped, taking another just to be sure. "I smell dogs." She flexed her clawed hands, her tail lashing anxiously; even if Floyd was free to capture the first prize, that didn't mean she was going to just stand there and look pretty if things turned violent. Not that she expected the worst from dogs--she had quite the fondness for them, as her having an arcanine illustrated--but she always kept the chance in mind when dealing with wild pokemon.

The blitzle stopped as well, if only because of the warning, but when a chorus of barking erupted from down the hall they were in and a half-dozen green canines rounded the corner and came charging at them, he let out a terrified whinny and raced past Floyd and Aurora to hide behind T'ilk's great bulk.

Aurora growled, her bioluminescent markings lighting up as she reached for a pokeball on her belt. Her plusle and minun simply looked at each other and gave a simultaneous, determined nod.

He halted at hearing Aurora speak. Glancing back he took note of her body language. She was aching for a battle. But he wasn't. He wanted in and out as quietly as possible.

Quiet wasn't going to be an option. The blitzle rounded the corner, racing back over the tiled hall the way he'd came. Floyd flattened himself against the wall and saw Til'k do much the same, his girth still enough to provide a wall of flesh for the zebra to hide behind. then the barking pack of green dogs was rounding the bend, right on his tail.

"They're yours if you want them." Floyd told the tense cat lady. "I'm not interested in picking fights here if I can avoid it. But that doesn't mean you have to do the same."

He gave a nod to Til'k, who raised his scythes, ready to rake away the beasts from his little friend, if need be. Floyd though, drew his 45, hunkered down against the wall, and waited. If they passed them by, he'd be much happier, but if they went for him, he'd have no choice but to pop off a few rounds.

Aurora...frowned at Floyd. Lips covered fangs entirely and transparent eyelids blinked over primary, then secondary, eyes. She then turned toward the charging dogs without a word, activating the pokeball in her claws.

Red light spilled into the space between her and the pack of electrike, forming into the familiar figure of her arcanine. Tiger towered over the wild dogs, and cast a glance behind him at his trainer. "Roar," she said, simply. The great beast nodded and inhaled deeply, before letting out a great bellow that shook the floor and walls.

Aurora's ears pinned back at the roar, a bit of the fur along her tail visibly standing up in displeasure, but its effect on the would-be attackers was much more spectacular. The moment the wall of sound hit them, their eyes widened in horror and it was a mad scramble to stop their forward momentum. They screeched to a stop, or tried to, a couple of them bumping into each other and knocking each other over.

The salamander-cat smoothly walked to the side of her fire dog, staring down at the terrified hounds. "You hunt a friend of this pack. You have exactly to the count of five to run. One..."

The once-vicious electrike nearly trampled each other in their haste to flee, and soon vanished into the winding halls of the power plant. Aurora's tail flicked, and she momentarily looked a little smug as she rumbled a small, "Two," after they were gone and patted Tiger. The arcanine's tongue lolled from his jaws contently, his tail wagging. The resolution had been less than quiet, but a massive battle and gunshots would probably be worse, in her mind, and this was quick and bloodless.

A few more moments, and the trembling blitzle got enough of his mind back together to trot out from behind T'ilk and, with a quick glance around to convince himself the hounds were gone, resume his leading. Aurora waited for Floyd to also resume his place at the front of the line as she rumbled, "I can pick fights later, rokro," with a few fangs bared in a small, hopeful smile.

Aurora was trying her best to do this Floyd's way, though she would never say it in quite those words. That would make it sound like she was treating him like a leader, and she was not. She was just trying to make sure he had a good hunt, just like she'd hoped for a great battle back when they'd first met.

And, so, when the trek presumably resumed, there was a little while before anything else living reared its head, back to sounds of machinery, claws, hooves, and now heavy paws, since Aurora didn't recall Tiger and instead let the dog pad along beside her.

Then there was a series of sharp barks and the loud crackling of electricity. Tiger stopped, tilting his head curiously, and the blitzle took a few cautious steps back, not quite bolting for cover yet. This was mostly because the barking sounded like it came from a single canine, and because the barking was distinctly not aggressive, but distressed.

The source leaped into view soon enough, a large manectric jumping and bucking and shaking like a creature at a rodeo, with a tiny baby leech latched onto the spiked plates on each of his hips, seemingly quite unconcerned as they sucked up the static he was giving off.

The ridges above Aurora's eyes raised as she watched this display, at a loss for what to say.

Floyd could tell Aurora was annoyed that he hadn't chosen to fight the silly dogs. But as she had clearly proven, if you can scare something away that easily, bloodshed was neither needed nor worthy of his attentions. If she wanted a real hunt with him, they could do so against a full fledged beast and not a pack of puppies.

Blitzle mustered up the nerves to keep going. Floyd followed and before long the sound of another dog barking, or maybe yowling, reached them. Curious, Floyd crept forward more cautiously now, and the sight that awaited them around the bend was enough to make him burst out laughing.

"The little zebra has found us the leeches." He told Aurora with a grin. Then to the blitzle. "Thank you!" And back to Aurora again. "Just look at them, after my own heart, trying to pick off more than they can chew." That was a subtle hint to cat lady, just in case she was in the least bit confused as why he hadn't attacked the pups earlier. "This in an exercise more to my liking, if only becuase it's an area I need much more practice in. And the riddle is how to help that poor dog without harming the young ones." Floyd studied the panicking manectric for a moment, his hearts going out to it. Floyd was a dog lover for sure. "I've got it! We just need to give them a more tempting food source. They're draining the dog of the electrical discharge on his back. I think I have something that will lure them away, and then perhaps we can get down to buisness without all this racket."

Floyd withdrew a pokeball, revealing Gray, the magnezone. The mechanical creature hovered like his own spacecraft, silent and imposing. Floyd patted its hull. "Old friend, I have a bit of an awkward favor to ask you. Would you mind uh..being a nurse maid to those little leeches for a bit? At least long enough to see if they'll accompany us?"

Now Gray might be a machine. And it might also be a genderless, heartless, emotionless hunk of metal, but it knew damn well that Floyd was asking something...weird. If a machine could look horrified, Gray did. It buzzed and beeped in protest. Nursemaid. Come on!

"Now don't be like that. The leeches won't be clinging to you for long. And you're the only one here that they can't hurt. You won't even notice they're there."

Well, this was true. Gray did consider itself an impressive piece of equipment. Pretty damn awesome, if it didn't mind saying so. Gray buzzed again, soundly a bit miserable but reluctantly consenting.

"Excellent. "Use Discharge near those two and try to tempt them off the dog." Then Floyd turned to Aurora. "If that doesn't work, we'll have no choice but the disable the Manectric somehow, so that it's no longer a candidate for their dinner."

Aurora was annoyed, certainly...but not exactly for the reasons Floyd thought. Not that she was volunteering an explanation any time soon.

The blitzle perked up at the thanks, looking proud of himself, then backed up a little to let his monster friends handle things however they were going to. Aurora turned her attention from the thrashing canine to Floyd, listening to him silently and then looking up at Gray when it was revealed. "Impressive," she commented in an appreciative rumble, a slight gleam in her four amber eyes that clearly said: I want one.

She chuckled deeply, placing a clawed hand to her mouth at the following exchange and as Gray consented, Aurora glanced at Tiger, or rather at the pair of rodents sitting on his head. She frowned when Floyd mentioned disabling the manectric, but nodded. "It would be nice to do it without hurting the big fella..." she said, half to herself, then looked at her plusle and minun again. "One of these scamps could give your metal friend there a boost if the first try's not tempting enough," she suggested, right before Gray unleashed his attack.

The robot's burst of electricity spread out in all directions in a series of loud crackles and large bolts of lightning arching from its body. The blitzle took more steps back and Aurora's fur started to stand on end, her tail giving a nervous lash at all the power in the air. After all, you didn't exactly aim a Discharge attack so much as let it go to hit whatever was unfortunate enough to get in the way. It was a good thing Gray was an intelligent machine who knew exactly how not to electrocute the rest of the hunting party or the little babies it was trying to tempt.

However, a bit of the immense electrical attack seemed to act of its own accord, a few bolts shooting straight toward the manectric and striking him. A faint glow surrounded the dog briefly, after which he seemed entirely unharmed and the furious sparking of his coat just seemed all the greater.

Aurora looked at this, mildly confused, until a light bulb went off. "Lightningrod," she said, quietly.

It looked like Gray had gone and made the current target all the tastier...but, one of the leeches, at least, had it occur to him that the machine itself was more powerful and detached. The tynamo floated slightly above the ground, 'swimming' through the still slightly-charged air to latch onto one of the magnezone's magnet arms. The other, however, seemed quite content where she was, despite the fact that the energy boost made the dog she was hanging onto able to thrash even more violently.

"I think you're right." Replied Floyd, acknowledging the presence of the dog's ability. "Makes this all the worse for him I suppose." He glanced at the one retrieved leech and the one still clinging to the maddened canine. "Alright then, time to give Gray a hand in luring that last one off. Once he's free, maybe we can get down to buisness." The buisness of convincing two otherwise perfectly happy leeches that they could provide as tempting and satisfying a home as this one.

"Gray, Discharge once more, but this time let Aurora's companions give you an extra boost." He turned to cat/salamander woman. " Maybe we should step back a bit more this time. Controlling his own energy is one thing, but the borrowed powers of another could be...messy."

The General retreated down the hall, withdrew Helsing to be on the safe side, and once his new friend in arms had followed suit, requested the irritated psychic to throw up a Light Screen. What Helsing said in reply to this did not bare repeating. He gave them the Light Screen though.

Aurora's plusle and minun looked at each other, then nodded in unison and scampered down to the floor. Aurora gave Tiger a faint pat and recalled him, before following Floyd, though she kept shooting the distressed wild canine concerned glances. A growl rumbled in her throat in response to Helsing, her tail giving a disapproving flick at his presumably foul mouth. She stayed behind his Light Screen, though.

That didn't stop her fur from starting to stand up again as Gray did his thing. The two rodents broke into uproarious applause, clapping their paws and bouncing up and down as they cheered with increasing volume. This was what the two were meant to do, and they threw themselves into the role, feeding off each other's enthusiasm as their combined Helping Hands worked their magic.

And what magic it was. Aurora closed her opaque eyelids on all four eyes and turned her head away for good measure, not because she didn't want to see, but because she didn't want to be blinded by it. The bolts of electricity cracked through the air, flying out all around the robotic pokemon in search of something to electrocute, wild and uncontrollable and nearly drowning out the pair's applause, which broke off as they squeaked and scrambled back to hide behind the Light Screen with everyone else before they were caught up in the attack as well.

As the attack started to fade, Aurora started to open her eyes again, and she quickly went slack-jawed. Floyd would no doubt realize why very quickly, because Gray was still only host to one leech, and the manectric was now racing around in maddened circles with the female tynamo still attached to him. The feline alien clicked her jaw shut, then opened it up to rumble a stream of foreign words that eventually morphed into a coherent, "...Probably prefers it when they put up a fight..." A blink of transparent eyelids. "...Or she's stuck..."

The wild blitzle was just standing there with a look somewhere between horror and awe. That was...so powerful...

I've totally lost track of this. Sorry. If you want to call it quits, I understand. I need to wind my stuff down to one thread. I just don't have the time I used too. Swat me if if I've forgotten anything important!

Floyd frowned. He glared at the little baby leeches. Babies were always stubborn, weren't they?

"That didn't work." He growled, more to himself than anything. Gray buzzed unhelpfully in front them. He wasn't enjoying being a wet-nurse to this wiggly little thing on his hull. The alien exhaled a heavy sigh. He had two plans left. One of them he immediately disregarded. Reasoning with hungry babies just didn't happen. That meant taking them away from the thing they were focused on - the poor hound.

"Aurora. I hate to say it, but my way ain't working. That hound has lightning rod. We're just making it more appealing. What do you suggest?" That's right, Floyd just admitted he didn't know how to get the dog out of this - not without knocking him out. He just asked a female for her opinion. That was the difference between a human and a Scavian. Human males and females had an equal intellect. Scavian male and females thought on entirely different wavelengths. Behind every good General, there was his wife, telling him exactly where he'd screwed up.

Floyd lacked a counter part, so he had to make do with what he had. He grinned sheepishly at Aurora.

[Didn't do anything this round, fishing for opinions.]

Unfortunately, a female salamander-cat was not a female Scavian, and Aurora was not exactly a world-renowned strategist. A good pokemon battler, certainly, and a more-than-passable hunter on her homeworld, but this was not where her intelligence excelled. Still, she was hardly going to just shrug and say 'I don't know' when Floyd was looking at her like that. She looked from him, to the thrashing hound, to Gray, and rumbled softly to herself.

The rumbles, barely given a bit of form by her jaws and lips, continued to tumble from her as she thought aloud. Even someone who knew her tongue would find it near-impossible to understand her as the words slurred together or emerged half-formed. To her current company, it may as well just have been growling.

Then, her tail gave a distinct flick, and her growling faded. She looked at Floyd, lightly tapping a claw on one of the pokeballs on her belt idly. "I...could catch him. I've got a pokemon with Sing. That'd remove him without hurting him, and then I could bring him back here later." Or keep him, if the manectric agreed to such. She really did love dogs.

She activated the pokeball, and another small rodent joined them, though very different from the two Floyd had already met. A cinccino peered up at him fearlessly, then glanced around at her surroundings before locking Aurora with an irritated and exasperated look as if to say 'what have you gotten into this time?'

"This is Holly," Aurora introduced, turning her head away from the rodent's stare and earning a small huff for it.

3 I didn't expect a reply so quick. Thank you! I know you're busy so please don't feel obligated.

Catching the manectric was something that Floyd had not considered. He was only interested in the leeches. It was worth a try. He glanced at Gray to see how it was holding up. The machine seemed unharmed so far by the single baby leech feeding off it. He looked back at the alien. Yes, this could work. He nodded.

Aurora released a new pokemon, a small gray rodent. He'd never seen such a thing before. "Holly." He gave a little wave to the chinchilla thing. "Alright, let's give this a try."

Floyd stepped back, motioning Til'k and Helsing out of the way. "Give her room and stop up your ears, boys. Unless you want to be taking a nap. Gray...uh...yeah, can't help you there. Try not to go into hibernate, eh?" The alien clapped his hands over the sides of his head and looked at Aurora. A nod told her he was ready.

At Floyd's nod, Aurora nodded as well. She took a few steps backward of her own, she didn't cover her ears, not yet. She slid off her pack and pulled a few minimized pokeballs out. "All right, Holly. Do your thing," she said, and the little rodent gave a small nod and toddled forward.

Holly paused a moment to fix her fur and clear her throat, then let out a few, experimental notes. Aurora rumbled a chuckle, the tip of her tail twitching slightly as the bioluminescent spots on her back started to light up. The cinccino flicked an ear toward her alien trainer and frowned, before finally launching into song.

A wordless lullaby filled with silvery, almost flute-like notes wove together and flowed around them as Holly worked her hypnotic magic. Almost instantly, the attack started to have its effect of its intended target, and the manectric's frantic spinning slowed. The hound started to stumble about, shaking his head to try to stay awake. Aurora covered her ears and fell back a little more, her front-most eyes focused on the dog. Gray started to sway a little, but seemed to be faring much better than the wild pokemon.

Soon, the manectric sank down into a heap, and the tynamo attached to him let go and flopped onto the floor as well. Gray's little leech also detached and landed on the tiles. Holly chose that time to wrap up her song, and once the last, lingering note had finished ringing, she gave a little bow.

Aurora uncovered her ears, baring her teeth in a smile as her glowing spots faded. She took one of her pokeballs, an orange and yellow Fast Ball, and pitched it at the dog. It wriggled, but the capture device was well-suited to its target and soon stilled, before vanishing off the PC. Holly toddled back over and Aurora scooped her up, gently scratching her under the chin and rumbling affectionately.

That then left Floyd with two dozing baby leeches.

"Nicely done!" Applauded Floyd while plucking his fingers from his ear holes. "That dog will make a wonderful partner if you keep him. I have one myself." Now the Scavian's attention was on the two little slumber trouble makers on the floor. "Kind of hard to believe those two can cause so much trouble while awake." He reached into his pack and withdrew two balls, Great Balls. He considered them only for a moment before saying, "This will be a long shot. Even asleep, those two are still primed with all the eneregy they've been leaching from the dog and Gray."

He looked to Helsing, "Be ready with Safeguard and Lightscreen. They'll going to be pretty unhappy if they wake up." With a swift shake of his long whiskers, the foxed head thing nodded, purple and pink light glowing from the tips of his claws.

Floyd looked to Gray, who still hovered over one of the babies. "If this fails, Thundershock them both. That shouldn't hurt them too much." The alien gave one last glance to Aurora and smiled. "Here goes!", and he pitched the two balls at the sleeping figures.

Holly smiled at the applause, and Aurora rumbled a small chuckle. She nodded at the mention of the dog making a good partner. "I do like electric types. And dogs. I'll see later if he wants to stay..." On the topic of the tynamo and the trouble they caused, Aurora couldn't help but chuckle again. "Spirited little things, all right..." Her tone almost made her sound proud of them.

As for the tynamo themselves, they remained fast asleep as Floyd hurled the pair of pokeballs at them.

Wiggle. Wiggle. Ding! There went the male.

Wiggle. Wiggle. Pop!

The Great Ball burst open, and the female flopped back onto the tiled floor, having somehow broken out of the ball while still sleeping. A wave of electricity erupted from Gray, locking the electric leech's muscles in paralysis, but still she didn't wake.

3 (yaaaaaaaa. A post.)

Floyd was delighted that the first capture had worked. He was already thinking of ways he would make the sudden change in environment worth it to the baby. When the second capture failed, Floyd merely frowned and tilted his head in thought.

"That one there has spirit." He commented, and a thought came to mind. "I was really only interested in one. It was greedy of me to hope for two, but this one...she reminds me of someone." He grimaced and growled to himself and finally made up his mind. "Alright. I will try for her one more time. I think I have a friend that might be interested in her. If this one fails though. I'll let it go."

And that friend was a certain former Lt. General, a role that Floyd continued to picture her in, in spite of her having left for more peaceful pastures. Her electric nature might bond very closely to the little leech, the leech would surely be attracted to her as well, and it would be a small gesture to show her that he still thought well of her even though their relationship had never been more than professional, or casual at best.

Aurora tilted her head slightly when Floyd mentioned the leech reminding him of someone, but made no comment as he decided to give it another try. The ultra ball struck the sleeping, paralyzed leech and sucked her inside.

It didn't even wiggle once, the capture mechanism engaging with a faint 'ping.' The capsule vanished, and the blitzle who had been watching all this time finally trotted out from hiding behind Til'k and seemed to sniff faintly at where the baby had been.

"I'm sure your friend will like that one," Aurora commented, swishing her tail slightly and flashing her fangs in a smile. In her mind, any friend of Floyd's would have the strength of will to deal with such a creature. She glanced to the rodent in her arms, her smile turning to a frown, and she gently set Holly down before sliding off the pack on her shoulder. "I...suppose you'll be off now, rokro?"

The amphibious feline fetched a scrap of paper and pen, then took a few steps toward the toothy, orange General and, if he allowed the contact, one of her clawed hands lightly brushed against his, if only for a moment. Four amber eyes burned with a sudden intensity as she mustered the courage of a hunter to say her next words. "I'll...definitely have to take you up on the offer to see Genesis, and maybe...you could come see me, sometime?"

The hand that hadn't touched Floyd's now held out the piece of paper, a Poketech number and an address written on it. "I have a house on the outskirts of Felcrest. The jungle is good for hunting." She chuckled deeply. "Not many know about it...but I trust you not to go blabbing to humans."

If he took it, she took a small step back. "I...probably should have given it to you after our match...Better late than never?"

Not long after she said that, the blitzle came trotting back over, an expression of being deep in thought on his face. Nodding to himself, he moved over to gently nudge Floyd with his nose and give a small, inquiring whinny. He was wondering if the toothy monster's offer to come to his island was maybe still open?

3 Thanks Vulpy, sorry to have rushed this, but I need my NC thread. Maybe we can get Floyd and Aurora together again elsewhere.

And the girl leech was captured. He was quite pleased. Now he had a reason to visit the ranch! Wouldn't that be a surprise to everyone. He hadn't been since that party where he got so drunk Helsing had to drag him home.

"Yes." He replied to Aurora. "I did not mean to stay here as long as we have. But your company was too much to resist. You are a fine warrior and trainer, lovely lady." She handed him a slip of paper and his jaw dropped just a little as he realized what it was. He had difficulty composing himself. "Rest assured, no human shall see this, but I will call on you, when I find myself in the area. We must make arrangements to visit the island together, after all. I look forward to showing you everything."

Floyd bowed deeply to the cat like creature, his tail wiggled with joy. He was so excited with the prospect of seeing her again that he had completely overlooked the little zebra who had done much too good a job of making itself invisible.

"Ah! There you are." Cried Floyd upon turning around. "I owe you and the lovely lady here a debt of thanks. I have two new friends to take home with me today because of both of you. Have you thought about my offer?" He revealed a pokeball and held it before the zebra who, after a moment, drew a circle in the air with his muzzle before poking the little button on the side. In a flash he had three pokemon to take with him, and a lady's phone number.

Floyd bowed once more to Aurora and said, "Until next time." Floyd left her company, all aglow, the slip of paper still in his hand. Once outside, he did a little jig and jumped for joy.

Til'k looked at him strangely, Helsing had to explain. This is the first attention from a female he's had since arriving on earth. He thinks he's going to get lucky.

Til'k's eyes widened in disbelief. Memories from Squishy kicked in and soon he was scraping and clawing at his head, trying to rid himself of the terrible images.

3 :lp No worries; whenever you've got time and space for the thread, go ahead and give me a prod.

Once Floyd had left her company, Aurora let out a deep exhale of breath and shifted to a four-legged posture, where she found herself nose-to-nose with Holly, who was just giving her a look.

"...Stop that." She started to pad a little deeper into the Power Plant, intending to make her own visit to the place last a little longer. "He's...nice. A shameless flatterer, but...nice..."

She swished her tail as the cinccino continued to give her that look. "Besides, let she who has not made eyes at a member of a different species cast the first stone." That finally made Holly look away, and the cat just chuckled as they vanished into the depths of the plant.

Until next time...
