"How many assholes we got on this ship anyhow?"
Notes:
This is my NC Solo Thread. I don't care how long it takes. We can go traditional, chat battle or, half way with me doing the RP for both me and old lady while someone else runs and posts the numbers for each round. I don't expect to win this one but I would like to try it.

Asking for a standard 4 VS 4 battle.
Team to be used:
Milotic Lvl 51 (Amulet Coin)
Volcarona Lvl 60
Charizard Lvl 65
Feraligatr Lvl 65
Eevee (Pookie) Lvl 100
Gcore takes up the 6th spot but can't be used.

I'll RP when the gym side is set up.

EDIT to tack on Amulet Coin to Milotic. This is the only item to be used. No battle related items.
And I also forgot about my stupid EV Idol. Since no one has responded to this yet, I have no qualms about adding it.
The EV Idol sets the EV's of all party pokemon to: (Anything showing in their profile is irrelevant.)

The gym smelled like cookies. Sweet, sugary molasses cookies so full of butter the way only one's own grandmother could master. The scent of fresh lava cookies permeated everything, even the gritty metal sculptures that decorated the entrance parlor. The arena expanded far to the west, but here, where trainers first entered the gym, a makeshift bakery had appeared amidst the steel.

There was no ceiling to the arena: there was little concern about rain in the desert. But in the entrance hall-cum-kitchen, a solid and corroding shaft of metal swept over the place like a hood. Four trainers were scurrying about, working like elves for the assembly and distribution of steaming lava cookies.

Three of the trainers were dressed heavily in black. Two boys and one girl, each with nails painted darker than the last, flicked unruly black hair out of their eyes in unison. They were all pierced, bangled, and studded innumerably, and they'd all drop their jaws with profound glee upon seeing Floyd enter the Gym.

Behind them stood who appeared to be their grandmother. But she was not draped in torn articles of black; her fingers did not perpetually form the shape of horns; and instead, to anyone who entered the door - however old, and from whatever planet - she'd ask, without fail:

"Would you like a cookie?"

His nerves were still on edge from his encounter in the desert. The Douse Drive was locked safely away on board the ship, but he couldn't get the image of its handy work out of his mind. He needed a distraction. Passing through town a rusted tangle of spires jutted out from the earth in the distance.

"The Gym." He muttered to himself, an idea quickly forming.

It was a stupid idea of course. He wasn't ready for a Tier Two gym. That alone shamed him greatly. He was supposed to be the damned General of the Opaddekan Army! Here he had only one pitiful little badge from the easiest to sweep Tier One gym in the country. Pathetic.

What was worse was that the one other gym in the country he had challenged was also a Tier Two and he damn near been laughed out its doors. The blood rushed to his face in embarrassment.

Part of being a Good Leader was to continuously train and improve your skills. He was afraid of losing. A gym battle wasn't the battle field, but losing had its advantages in training. It would show him where his weaknesses lay and help guide him towards improvement. So far he'd held back becuase he was too embarrassed to be the General and actually lose a Gym Battle. What would people say?

Well. If he was going to relocate Genosect and recapture it, he had to get over that fear. Screw what other people thought! If he lost, he lost, and he would walk away a better man just as he would walk away a more confidant man if he won.

Besides. It would take his mind off the monstrosity in the desert.

Nearing the doors, his formerly silent companion nudged him in the shoulder. This was someplace he wasn't allowed. He'd tried to eat the apprentices last time.

"Never mind that, Til'k. You just ate, you can do this if I can do this."

It was true. The geneticore had waltzed through town without needing any help from Floyd . His hatred of humans was there, and so was the hunger, but the madness was tameable if he fed well before encountering them. He followed his orange alien through the gate and saw the blood skies beyond in the roofless sculpture with served as the gym.

The first thing they saw was not the Gothic dressed apprentices, but the little old lady baking cookies. Floyd smiled at the gym leader and nodded gratefully. Nothing took the edge off, like the kindness of a stranger or a cookie fresh out of the oven.

"Thank you very much, Lovely Lady. I'm F'loyd'Vise'k, Floyd for short. Would you have time to humor me with a battle today?"

"A battle?" Grandma asked.

"A battle!" The three heavy metal enthusiasts cried, in unison.

Production in the bakery stopped. All the movement and the noise came to a complete halt. Grandma smiled and put her rolling pin aside. She dusted her fingers against the towel on her apron, untied it, placed it on the counter. She looked up at Floyd carefully, silently, her lips quivering with age. Whether she intended to respond remained to be determined.

The three apprentices exploded with delight. They'd been silent, at first, containing their expressions to extended tongues and fingers in the air. Then one of the boys said it, and then the girl repeated, and soon all three were chanting:

"Battle... Battle... Battle!"

Their voices grew louder until they were screaming, and then they weren't saying the word at all, but they were just shouting and dancing and running around the Gym. One of the boys threw his shirt off, and then all three ran into the desert stadium. Their vulgar cries lingered in the air long after they were gone.

This left Floyd, and Grandma. The response, ultimately, was a smile.

- x -

Phyllis Diller walked... slowly, to the arena. She didn't say much, but what she did say was kind and irrelevant.

"The weather is lovely today," she'd said. She swept a frail arm over the desert around her, the open air hotter, even, than Phyllis' bakery. Most of the metal sculptures had been limited to the far walls of the Gym, but occasionally the earth gave way to enormous metal slabs buried thinly underfoot. The walk was a long one, and as the walls grew further the wind picked up and it threw sand and grit over the field. Phyllis smiled politely until the end.

"I'll be right over there," she said, pointing some distance away marked by a column of steel. Then she disappeared, retreating slowly... slowly... into the distance. Her pink cardigan was flapping roughly against the wind, but she didn't seem to notice, and eventually her figure grew yet smaller as she assumed her post at the other end of the arena.

More silence, then.

There was no microphone, no lights. No warning bell announcing that the battle had begun. From the Gym Leader's side, the three wild apprentices ran along either edge of the field, shrieking and delighting as they passed. They came to the Challenger's side... then retreated a few steps back, yet.

Phyllis' tiny pink frame stood motionless on the other end. Then her figure became less visible, distorted almost suddenly by the sand in the air. The wall of sand grew thicker, and closer, and increasingly there were small pieces of metal carried along with the dust.

"Here it comes..." one of the apprentices called. His voice was a mixture of excitement and mock-fear.

Because of the sandstorm, Phyllis' pokemon wasn't visible until it was almost across the field. It became increasingly clear that the storm, in fact, followed the pokemon, and spun wildly and rapidly around the pokemon itself. An enormous and terrifying snout emerged from the sand, yawning widely to reveal pillars of teeth, each more jagged and yellow than the last. Red eyes appeared at either side, planted crudely over a dark grey skull. Sand poured out of the pokemon's mouth like water... and it swam through desert, albeit as slowly as Phyllis walked.

The chanting teens put Floyd's nerves right back on edge. The contrast between them and the sweet smiling woman who's quiet, calm composure was so inviting, left him off guard. He had no clue what to expect. Til'k was less bewildered and more entertained. The monster raced along the sidelines after them, finding their hyperactivity contagious.

His heart was pounding. Phyllis was barely distinguishable across the dusty field and then ---

She was gone. Vanished behind a veil of sand that rose up from the gym floor and rolled like a tidal wave towards him.

Shiiiit. Floyd's hand went for his belt where five pokeballs waited. Which one? He couldn't even see the pokemon coming straight at him. No matter. It was either a steel or a ground type. Perhaps a mixture of both. And while his team was not exactly fine tuned for such odds, there was only one first choice.

"Zan." He hissed as the shimmering water serpent was released.

The glistening Milotic blinked in the bright light of day that bore down upon the battle field. She shook out her flowing fins and caught sight of the eminent threat. Something was cutting through the earth as easily as if it were swimming through water.

"Hydropump. Push it back. Follow up with a Waterpulse to knock it off its game."

Zan frowned but nodded obediently. She'd never faced something like this before. Neither had Floyd. The alien was mainly a water and bug type user. This was so far in left field that they had no hope but to act swiftly, and hit hard. And to pray.

A burning sensation on his chest drew Floyd's hand to the golden idle he'd obtained in Grusing's Harbor. It was white hot and smoldering. He nearly cried out as he clasp it tightly. A black smoke curled between his fingers and with a life of their own reached for the watersnake. He gasped as the dark ethereal tines reached for his pokemon, caressed her scales gently, and seeped into her skin. Zan shivered, but immediately felt both uncomfortable and empowered. She couldn't see the dark aura radiating from her form, or from the alien's. He wasn't sure what was going on but he was about to find out what kind of a gift 'Mother Hydra' had left him with.

Zan braced herself against the sting of the sand. Her long lashes batted away the fine grains. The Milotic regarded the other with a cool composure no longer entirely her. Knowing what to do, the only thing to do, she let the surge of water rise from within her, and set free the torrential gush of waters to meet the wave of sand and rolling earth...

2 Thanks Kirin.

It was a matter luck, Floyd saw. But luck ever so slightly tipped in his favor when the black aura linking him to his Milotic set her cutting across the field and beating her more powerful opponent to the punch - literally. Sand whirled and grit caught in his teeth. He couldn't see what the other was up to. It seemed as if it wasn't doing anything at all - and then Zan struck a second time. Ending the encounter as quickly as it began.

It must have been trying to take her out in one hit. A silly thing to do when she was materially, so much weaker than itself. The only advantage she had in this battle was what the idol was somehow giving her - something Floyd had realized just yet, although a suspicion was forming. ANY move it could have used would have done the trick, were it simply to hit.

Granny would not make the same mistake twice. If Floyd was using speed to fight his battles, she could one up him easily.

As Gix caught her breath and the hippo was withdrawn, the next pokemon to enter the field made the alien's hearts sink. He realized he'd let that one lucky win get his hopes up that he could really pull this off. How little confidence he really had in himself.

A Garchomp. A Dragon and Ground type. What Floyd really needed was an Ice user but he wasn't willing to switch out this soon.

"Brace yourself Zan, this is gonna hurt like hell." He warned. Speed couldn't save her.

She was gonna take the bullet for him, and it wasn't going to be pretty. "Put everything you have into a hydropump." He didn't say it, but it still wouldn't be enough.

Don't mind me, just a drive-by calc.

Milotic was at 195/208 HP at the start of this round.

Garchomp is faster, uses Earthquake. Hits for 194. Milotic is on 1 HP.

Milotic uses Hydro Pump. Hits for 71.

Garchomp uses Earthquake again. Hits for more than 1.

Milotic faints. Garchomp gains 1.1 :exp.

2 thankyeeee

Milotic hung on by a thread, but only because Floyd had warned her what was coming. Will power alone helped her to defy the odds. Something much more sinister aided her vengeance. Lashing out with what was left of her strength, those black tendrils which clung fearsomely to her flesh gave her wretched spout of water a bit of sting. Not nearly enough to take out the dragon.

Earthquake quickly proved to be the things signature move. Ceasing the ground beneath her, the earth heaved. She was tossed aside carelessly. End of show.

As consciousness faded, that ethereal connection to Floyd and the heinous idol thinned. When the connection severed, the recoil sent him reeling back. Darkness threatened to drag him where Zan had already gone. He shook himself, coming to in Til'k's arms.

"Shit...nice catch buddy."

The monster growled. A sound that almost echoed concern.

He recovered quickly, wanting to cover the lapse that surely looked strange to his worthy opponent. Zan was withdrawn and another selected. Hawkeye this time. The gator materialized on the field as a hulking giant. His hissed with pleasure at his opponent. But, no sooner had the sound left his throat, that same power which had loosed upon the milotic, latched upon him as well. His lids fluttered and his golden eyes stared blankly for just a moment. Then he was wagging his huge head to and fro as if to sling something off.

"You ok buddy?" Floyd breathed, still dazed from the symbiotic link with Zan.

Hawkeye turned and glared at him. He knew. Helsing had told him about the idol. About the black smoke. About the cold presence in Floyd's little trinket. This had to be it and he didn't like it. But, Hawkeye was not so noble as to back out of a fight based on principles. He wanted to know more about this thing that had possessed his friend. For that he had to experience it first hand. He gave Floyd a curt nod. A sharp, swift expression that let the alien know he was now in deep shit and they were going to have a little chat later.

"Fine." Floyd nodded back. "For now though, this thing is real into rock'n'roll if you get my drift. Be ready to ride one out. Then freeze its sorry ass." Floyd said a little more heatedly than he meant. He could still feel the repercussions of Zan's fall. That fine connection that was gone before he could really realize it was there. And now. Now he could feel Hawkeye too. As the seconds passed, the feeling grew stronger. The gator was suspicious. And for the first time in their career, he wasn't sure if he could trust Floyd. "Blizzard." The General said, full of confidence for his partner. A feeling that reverberated along the link. Hawkeye didn't turn back, but the curious feeling which could not have been his own was oddly reassuring.

With a snarl, he set his feet firmly on the broken ground and faced his enemy head on. He snarled, breathed deeply, and found his inner freezer ready to unleash a tempest of ice on the dragon.

2 Woot!

The ground shuddered. Hawkeye rode it out, the effort fatiguing him and the violence of the tossing rocks leaving memorable marks. The demon powered storm raged, forming frost on the enemy's claws and crushing it under the cold chill of the winds which savaged it. A surge of intense pleasure that was neither his nor Floyd's gripped his insides.

Floyd gaped. The adrenaline rush he was used to feeling at seeing the enemy defeated was drowning in a pool of wicked mirth. A sick pleasure that he'd never felt before. He was so disgusted he nearly ripped the idol from around his neck.

Something wouldn't let him. A pang of panic swelled in his chest when he saw he was rooted to his spot.

Granny gym leader stared, no longer all smiles. Did she suspect something was wrong with this picture? In an instant, she was smiling pleasantly once more and shrugging off the defeat of Garchomp, withdrawing it, and releasing her next pokemon. She wasn't going to let on that she'd been surprised or taken off guard, if that was really what Floyd had been reading into.

An Excadrill rolled out onto the dusty field. The beady eyed mole stared Hawkeye down. The gator, issuing long rattling breaths, fixed it with his golden eyes. He was riding the foreign pleasure of The Presence. Grinning manically, he didn't wait for Floyd to guide him. The thing worming its way into his mind did all the talking.

And really, what other choice was there?

STOP! Floyd thought more than he said. The command shook the link. Something wasn't right. Hydropump wasn't going to work. He'd fought these things before. The sandstorms. Their speed. They were one and the same. The thing in the idol reluctantly backed off and let him take the reigns.

"Madam!" Floyd called. "If you don't mind. I'll use one of my switch out's now."

Phyllis found this amusing and nodded knowingly. Of course he would. She had him and she knew it.

"Come back Hawkeye. Pyro's got this one."

The gator was still high on the dark energy and the suddenly severed link when he was withdrawn was entirely different than the loss of Zan. This was like having a heart ripped out. He choked, the nausea rising, he slumped and dry heaved. Trembling from the sickness, he released Pyro. The big dragon leaped into the air and spouted fire. His wings sent the gritty air whirling about him. He too felt the sudden shock of the idol. His heart though, was already bitter with blood lust. He didn't even notice it.

Now. That eliminated Fissure and Earthquake. So long as Pyro kept his ass off the ground.

"Blast Burn." Floyd hissed. He could have sworn he heard something behind him giggle. The last he remembered. Til'k didn't giggle. Certainly not like a girl. A chill crawled down his spine, setting his nerves on edge.

The old woman was clearly not pleased, or would be if the sandstorm wasn't obscuring vision of the two trainers.

Scowling, she contemplated the choices she had in the Excadrill's arsenal, and sadly not much was remaining due to Pyro's secondary typing.

Her last resort was to strike with Rock Slide. Thankfully it was still a brutally effective attack against the Fire/Flying type. Which it was. The move knocked out the poor Pyro with a well laid hit to the wing.

2, even though this made me incredibly sad.

And desperate. Very desperate. Battles take too long to challenge, so this is just how desperate I am.

The dragon plunged to the ground and Floyd blacked out from the unexpected shock. He awoke a moment later to Til'k shaking him like a rag doll.

"I'm up! I'm up!" He had one hell of a headache. Pyro was returned to his pokeball for safe keeping. He was fast running out of choices. "Hawkeye. Shit Hawkeye, bail me out buddy."

The gator reappeared and the link was re-established, stronger than ever. An evil gleam in the reptile's eyes said that somebody else was in the driver's seat today. So little faith Floyd had in him, that thing that wasn't really him was whispering again. The alien felt a draw on his strength, his knees buckled, and once more the geneticore had to catch him. But Hawkeye...he was framed in a misty black aura that licked at the air like flames. The malice in the gator's grin was anything but right.

This time, he would act of his own accord. Floyd didn't believe him? That was ok. Whatever was in his brain certainly did. He waited for his opponan's first move. Then aura flashed and his muscles relaxed. He rolled his shoulders, stretching his tendons. He would take a hit. But this necessary.

Because now he he could out run him, even if he came up from below. There was no where safe left to hide.

NOW for the desperate. I have 96.8 FFEXP left. I can still dump this on my pokemon at any time, even in the middle of the battle until it's completely exhausted, and then this wonderful option is really and truly no more. So guess what I'm doing? Hawkeye needs 35.9 EXP to be able to hold up to another attack. New total HP is 360. He's taken 160 damage already. New current HP 200. When his HP is at 119 or lower, Torrent goes into effect.

Sudden bursts of superpowerdom in the middle of a crucial battle? Sounds like the plot of a yu-gi-oh episode to me, except without the insanely lucky topdecks.

So Hawkeye is now Awesome. Excadrill thinks little of this, and Earthquakes for 104. Torrent is now active.

Hawkeye lets rip with Agility, for +2 speed. That makes him faster than Excadrill, so he lobs a Superpower in the mole's face. Excadrill has 405 reasons to just lie down and surrender.

3-2. Hawkeye gains 1.2 :exp .

A smug chuckle sounded inside of Floyds head. He gripped his skull and tried to force it away.

No use. It had its hooks in him now and was there to stay.

With great difficulty Floyd managed to withdraw the thing dressed in the Hawkeye suit, snapping the black tether which bound them. Somewhere in the pokeball, Hawkeye was wondering what the hell had just happened.

'Just who won that battle anyway. Me or you." Floyd snarled at his inner demon.

A girlish sigh. A shadow. A gentle and very cold caress, like a mother patting a ignorant child on the head, becuase he was too young to understand. This only served to infuriate Floyd more. He released Milton. Moth Man. The reason stock had risen in so many disinfecting products lately.

The hypochondriac fluttered into the air and frowned at the grit sweeping across the field. Filthy. Dirt everywhere! And in the middle of it, standing right in the sticky mass of blood that once was its pal, was the biggest damn germ he'd ever seen!

Scisor was about to be blasted by Lysol. Milton reached for his trusty can, holstered to his side like a firearm --

The bug's eyes glazed over and he lost all comprehension of what he was about to do. Floyd's back seat driver settled comfortably behind the steering wheel and simply beamed. It raised one of Milton's skinny little limbs and waved bashfully at Scisor. It was a very feminine movement. Not-Milton giggled, the air about him crackling to life. He'd erupted into a ball of flame as bright at the sun overhead. Cinders filled the air that swept about him, his heat igniting the sand on the storm.

Milton's movements were wickedly swift, and astonishing graceful. His wings wafted tongues of fire that seared anything within reach to a blackened crisp. He danced across to the field, the moth in the flame. His dance partner awaited.

"How many assholes we got on this ship anyhow?"

In an instant the other insect was nothing but a charred heap on the ground. The chanting of the apprentices had ceased and an mournful wail filled the room.

"There-there, dearies." Soothed a creaking but unperturbed voice of the sweet little old lady. The howls of the storm died down and she retrieved her fallen pokemon. "It was only a battle, after all. These things happen to strongest of trainers." This last was aimed directly at Floyd, who, in the midst of what was happening couldn't prevent the tremor in his tail. "That was a very interesting battle, General Floyd." He could have sworn her heard suspicion drip from every word. "I was quite sure I had the best of you there for a minute. Especially when you brought that big gator back out."

"You're not the only one." Floyd gasped, honestly.

"You have some very strong pokemon. Very fast for their species. Such speed usually doesn't come from anything but the most grueling training. You must have worked very hard." She said kindly, but he felt as if she were probing for information.

"Yes." He said simply. "We've...traded a bit to get here." He didn't let her know exactly what had been traded. He wasn't sure himself.

She eyed his 'jewelry' closely. The idol was an ugly thing, a gold plate with jewels that could be rotated. The back drop was an image of some sea monster with tentacles and bat wings. The thing was choosing to look completely ordinary. She started to ask about it, pointing curiously.

"It's a family heirloom." He grumbled. "My uh, my mother gave it to me."

Phyllis patted his arm sweetly. "Your mother had very interesting taste." She reached into her apron pocket and retrieved an envelope. "Well, General. I believe this is yours."

He didn't bother looking. "Thanks." With a nod, he motioned for Milton and Til'k to follow him.

Once outside he breathed a little easier. Whatever the idol really was, it was going to get him into a hell of a lot of trouble if he didn't get control over it. With no clue about what he was dealing with, playing it by ear was the only option. He walked back to the ship, pokemon in tow and silent. Ashdell would be next. He had to make up for lost time. He didn't know how he felt about the idol. He didn't know what it was. But he...IT...they had won.

----

Things Kirin forgot to mention.

EXP for Milton would be 1.8
Winnings would be 12k not 6 due to the amulet coin.
And 40 LP for getting the badge.
