The ground made an interesting noise as he walked on it; it crunched and squished at the same time. He couldn't see more then a foot or two ahead, and he didn't care. Khaos took a deep breath, the hot air he exhaled through his nose making it look like he was breathing out smoke. Khaos liked it here, a lot. He wasn't sure why, but he felt something here. The cold around him was sort of welcome. The water, however, was not. At least it wasn't for Draco. As soon as the fire lizard felt water on his feet, he squalled again and raced over to Khaos' leg, scaling it like a bear would scale a tree. The boy was startled out of his trance as the tiny dragon scaled his side and hissed at the ground when he reached Khaos' shoulder. The trainer decided to leave him up there. The marsh did kind of suck. He was wearing shoes and even then it was really cold. And Draco was nice and warm, which also felt nice. The boy scritched his dragon under the chin and they headed off into the invisible unknown. Frozen Foggy Swamp, Frozen Valley, Frozen Monument, Frozen Valley, Sinklands 1, Soggy Dirt, Brightopolis |

3 LP You make your way north, picking a path through the frozen wastes as best you can. It's slow going - the ice is everywhere, but most of it is thinner than cardboard. It's cold, wet, unpleasant going. That said, it's also uneventful going. The snap frost following the Battle for Murmur Valley did a number on the ecosystem - pretty much all of the previous fauna has left for warmer climes, and the arctic pokemon that took their place haven't had time to build up a large population base. You catch an occasional glimpse of a Snover waddling along through the fog, hear the faint mechanical ticking of a Klink's gears in the distance, but beyond that, you're alone. Your first real encounter of any significance comes as you leave the highlands of the frozen marsh behind and enter the valley itself. In place of the gradual slope down to the valley floor, you now beging to trek across the ice itself - a flat, featureless, frozen wasteland, a few bare tree branches breaching the ice ahead of you before everything becomes buried under yards of solid ice. A small, reedy voice calls out from up ahead, with a cry of "RoggenROLAAA!" Shortly thereafter, a pair of small round blobs make their way out of the fog, pinballing off each other, slipping on the ice and tumbling around like bowling balls. Looks like a pair of the little rock pokemon that migrated in from Jgsei. Goodness knows what the things eat out here, but at the very least they seem unfazed by the cold. -------------- Landmark Reached: Frozen Valley ![]() 10~ Tussling on the ice Edited by Kyozuki, Dec 1 2011, 09:00 PM.

.3 :g- wait. Wait. 3 LP. Yes. Khaos slipped a little bit when his foot hit the ice, nearly falling backwards. Draco squalled and hissed at the ground, tail thrashing. He stopped, seeing the mirror-like finish, and slid down Khaos' back to the ground. He froze when he got there, digging his claws in, but the little lizard eventually became brave enough to lean over and stare at the ice. He frowned, tilted his head, and then pounded on it with his little fists. "What is it?" he looked up at Khaos, who blinked back at him, clueless. Draco slapped his paws against the ice again. "I really wish Atlas was here. I bet he'd know," the little lizard huffed. They heard the noise then, and looked in that direction. Draco grumbled a little - rock types. No thanks. Khaos nudged the lizard with his foot and gestured wtih his head for them to go around, which is exactly what they did. ((Bypassing an encounter? Shocking! Shocking, I say! :P )) 3 LP The Roggenrola continue their playing, barely even paying attention to you as you pass, other than a brief pause to look at you curiously before going back to tussling. The thick fog soon hides the rock pokemon from your sight, and the damp quiet of the Frozen Valley returns. The footing is less than steady, but the ice is very solid - the geologists think there might still be a few pockets of liquid water down near the valley floor, but for all intends and purposes, you're walking on solid ground. The landscape begins to change as you continue. The flat expanse of ice begins to develop a topology - dips, rises, shallow valleys, as you get closer to the epicenter of Kyurem's flash-freezing of the tidal wave. Finally, at the halfway mark, a section of the icy plain bulges up into a wide hill-like landmark. Out of the fog, a dark shape looms - a straight, sharp spire, with two triangular spurs coming off at right angles. At the point where the spire breaks the ice, you see a massive, domed shape under the ice, it's form blurred and indistinct. Below that, you see only a vast sea of shadow - the gargantuan form of the Jgsei Samurott fortress, its shape lost under the yards of ice piled on top. A few potholes dot the area around the spire, roughly hacked tunnels leading down into the permafrost, and eventually the darkened catacombs of the derelict. At the base of the fortress' horn stands an ice-covered obelisk, dwarfed by the spire behind it - the memorial to those lost in the war. All is quiet. -------------- Destination Reached: Frozen Monument |

3 LP The charmander waddled ahead of Khaos, and didn't even notice the boy slow down and eventually stop. Draco walked over to the monument and put his paws up on it, looking at it towering over him. He couldn't read the names, but squinted at the ones closest to the ground. Looking back, he stopped when he saw Khaos staring up at the sky, covered in fog. Draco swore, for a second, that he heard something murmur in the fog and ran over to Khaos to make sure that he was alright. The fire lizard noticed that the boy was holding those funny shiny black things in his hand instead of on his face as he peered up. "Hey!" the lizard tugged on his trainer's pant let, which made Khaos start. He closed his eyes and brought his head down to slip his sunglasses back on. He looked at Draco, who tilted his head. "You're so weird. Hey! What now?" Khaos frowned, like he didn't understand what the lizard was saying to him, and walked towards the horn jutting out of the ice. There were holes in the area here, but he didn't know which ones went down and which ones were dead ends... and he just had to go down there. This whole frozen area... it resonated with something inside him. Something... familiar? Hm... Either way, they couldn't explore the place unless they could get inside. Which was their next task. Looking for a way into the Frozen Monument/Fortress. Just gonna put my LP brainbabble here.

ooc// Very sorry for the delay. I think a Fudd mod will work best, to give you some freedom as to what you expect to find here. You're trying to do something epic... which is probably why most people shied away. 3 ![]() bic// - The ground is frozen, and dark, and at least four or five inches thick in most places. We know this. However, where the metal horn punctures the ground, the ice is barely an inch or two thick. - A vague, vague glow emanates from under the frozen ground. The Daikenki Fortress is largely encompassed by a block of ice, but surrounding that enormous and terrifying head -- with the vaguely glowing eyes -- there is a mess of slush and water where certain pokémon have begun to thrive. - Notably, there are Klinks. And Klangs, which may be a foreboding sign to such a young Charmander. It's like trying to go down the Northern Crater when Cloud is still Level 17, or some equivalent Pokémon analogy. - To reiterate: if Khaos stops to examine what's going on under the surface of the ice, presumably by Draco's light, he'll see a faint blue glow and shadows of movement where Klinks and Klangs have begun to spawn. They love abandoned heaps of metal like this. - If Draco and/or Khaos gets exceptionally close to that jutting spire of a horn, the ice will begin to crack. This will engage an epic battle with a Sneasel, who is very fierce, holding a Razor Claw, and will PROBABLY REQUIRE one cinematic mid-battle evolution to defeat. It's Level 18, requires three or four balls to catch. I'm donating 0.4 from Jin's stash to make sure Draco doesn't die. Try and stop me but I won't hear of it. I was told I'm allowed to use it anywhere, at any time.EDIT: Presumably, barbecuing the Sneasel will help the ice-melting process if you know what I mean. ooc// Jin used 0.4 on Draco! [press B if you want to cancel the evolution] Had 22.9, 22.5 remaining.

5 you aint gonna hear me argue about itKhaos was cautious as he walked along the ice. He didn't even have any spontaneous memories about walking on ice; he had truly never done such a thing before. He easily remembered hot terrain and cactus, but never anything too cold. They approached the pointed horn jutting out of the ground, looking at the ice below them as the glow increased. Khaos could vaguely hear churning water, and saw flashes of metal beneath the surface as they drew closer. Draco stopped suddenly, his little eyes widening at the sight. He didn't know what a klink or a klang was, but they did not look like something he wanted to mess with. The bigger ones, at least. The lizard remained frozen in place, where the ice was still thick, staring down in horror. Khaos paused by the horn, reaching his hand up to rest on it and lean against it... Draco snapped his head up when he heard an earsplitting yowl and Khaos looked up in time to get a face full of claws. The ground cracked underfoot, but nobody noticed. It didn't shatter, yet. Khaos jerked back just barely fast enough to keep from getting his eyes and nose removed but got his face gashed anyways. His sunglasses were slashed in half at the bridge, and blood splattered to the ground and froze immediately. He had stumbled backwards and slipped on the ice now, thumping into the frozen ground. The little dragon forgot his fear and rushed forward to meet the black pokemon before it could attack Khaos again. A quick jet of flames made the other pokemon jump away, and Draco waddled forward with his arms out to his sides, claws ready. The other pokemon landed and crouched, claws dug into the ice for stability. Draco had never seen a sneasel before, but he could tell it had really sharp claws and wasn't bothered by the cold. Ice type? Just meant that he could melt it easier. Draco took a breath, filled his little lungs as much as he could, and breathed fire at the thing attacking them. The sneasel, brave and strong, cut through the flames like they weren't there to slash Draco right across the chest. It didn't draw blood, yet, but the lizard stumbled back in pain, paws covering the spot. He didn't stumble too far, though, and bounced forward on his tail to pummel the sneasel in the face with his paw. That was at least far more effective; Draco was morbidly pleased to hear something crack in the dual type's face. The response was not something he expected, though. First, the cat screeched in his face, making him reel backwards with his paws over his ears. The cat's claws flashed metal, but the slash had much more force then the normal metal claw. The force sent the little dragon flying backwards across the ice on his belly. He slid to a stop, puffing a sigh of steam. He pushed himself onto all fours, squinting to see what the cat was doing. Heading towards Khaos again... Draco couldn't have that. Roaring to get the sneasel's attention, it was louder then Draco normally did. He shakily got to his feet and started towards the sneasel, tail thrashing and flame glowing white. Even as the charmander walked, the glow spread. His tail and flame got bigger, legs sturdier, all his claws sharper. As they were covered in white, his arms grew a little longer, as did his muzzle. Finally, a small horn sprouted from the back of his head, and the light faded to that point before disappearing. Draco the charmeleon pulled his lips up to reveal his razor sharp teeth as he growled. The sneasel paused, and turned to look, blinking in surprise. The dragon took a deep breath, eyes glowing red, and attacked with another torrent of flames. These were much hotter then last time, burning blue and white in the core. The sneasel tried to cut through them like before, but the flames were far too hot. Once the cat-weasel realized that it was starting to melt, he yowled and tried to sprint away, but didn't get far. Not because Draco caught up, but because the flames had also completely melted the ice under his feet. Sneasel fell into the water, drawn under by the churning current into the darkness. Something that the sneasel had between its claws was knocked loose and slid along the ice to come to a rest next to Khaos. It was only after the water became still that Draco calmed at all. The new charmeleon had steam trailing from his nose, mouth and tailtip, and was breathing heavily. The quiet sloshing of the water snapped him out of his rage, and he spotted Khaos sitting on the ground over by the horn. The lizard squalled (deeper then before) and raced over on all fours. He skidded to a stop before he reached Khaos, however, noticing the broken sunglasses sitting on the ice. Draco puffed a quick tongue of flame on the broken ends of the sunglasses and stuck them together before the cold air could solidify them again. It worked well enough; the melted metal fused back together but made the glasses lopsided a little. Draco figured they were good enough until they reached the next town and Khaos could get a better pair. While he was waiting for them to solidify, he noticed the claw on the ground, and scooped it up. He trotted over to where Khaos was sitting with his hands over his face, and pulled one of his hands away to press the sunglasses into them. The boy's eyes were tight shut, and he shakily closed his hand around his sunglasses. Draco waited, watching as Khaos slipped his sunglasses on and finally opened his eyes. The new charmeleon tilted his head; he only now noticed that he couldn't tell what color his trainer's eyes were. Khaos blinked at him, and reached out slowly to rest his hand on the lizard's head. Draco held his breath, waiting to see if Khaos still liked him. The trainer smiled right after that thought crossed Draco's mind, and he petted the little dragon's head. Draco helped his trainer up, and he felt his face again; the cuts weren't that deep, and they'd already frozen up. The pair looked at each other, and Draco didn't have to crane his neck back so much to do so. He handed Khaos the razor claw silently. They both turned to look down into the hole that was melted into the dark ice, seeing the glint of machinery moving in a frenzy. Draco sighed, his shoulders sagging at the sight. He was tired and slightly cold and not in the mood for this shit anymore. Khaos looked at him, the corner of his mouth twitching in a smile. Instead of looking around for a way to get into the fortress, he simply started away from it, and waved for the lizard to follow. They could explore the place some other time. Sneasel... not exactly defeated but gone at least, Draco is at like 1 HP, evolved (thanks Jin!), took the razor claw because he could. Getting the hell outta dodge, I guess. [Hi Steely :> 5 LP. 5 trust. Have fun with your Razor Claw. Have another FUDD, I don't know what to do with you normal-mod-wise x3] There are a few Spearow, Pidgey, Pidove, and Taillow worshiping a wrecked helicopter with a Natu priestess. It will burst into flames for no apparent reason if you try to get a closer look. If you save the Natu priestess, she will give you two Sitrus Berries but will refuse to let you leave without you allowing her or one of her subordinates to join you. If you fight her on this, you get no berries. If you run away from the fire, you will trip on a couple of frozen Oran Berries and tumble down a hill in comical fashion. You can have the Oran Berries. If you don't try to get a closer look at the helicopter temple, you will get cussed out by an elderly midget who has a Potion on him. You can only obtain this through violence. Have fun. I know I was laughing my head off while I wrote this. |

4 ![]() Draco sighed a little as they walked along, tired and hurting. He sure didn't want to be withdrawn, though, so he didn't drag his feet as much as he wanted to. Soooo tired. If Khaos noticed, he didn't act on it, or he just didn't know. Either way, they walked away from the monument and back into the valley, steadily north. Another far less important monument to the war loomed out of the fog off to the side. Khaos and Draco blinked, seeing some fluttering around it, but didn't bother getting closer to inspect it. Didn't look anything bad was happening, but Khaos wasn't feeling particularly adventurous right now. "HEY!" Khaos jumped when he felt his foot connect with something vaguely squishy, and stumbled backwards. "God damn stupid fucking kid, watch where you're walking!" The boy and his lizard stared in bewilderment as a tiny little hobo-looking man stood up on the ice, pulling his coat tighter and holding a bottle in his hands. Khaos had no idea why there was an elderly midget hobo out here, but he tried to scoot past him and it didn't quite work out. "Now listen here, sonny boy!" The tiny, elderly hobo continued following them, cursing and waving around the bottle in his hand. Khaos tried really, really hard to ignore him. Draco was too tired to threaten to set the little man on fire, either. Bluh. Being followed by an elderly midget who's cursing at Khaos. I'm assuming they got away from the frozen monument, so... Descending into insanity
|
3 ![]() The old man continued to ramble on and on about various topics as you take step after exhausted step across the icy wastes. The conspiracy theories were varied and equally mind-numbing. You quickly learned that the freezing of the valley was a secret government coverup for an operation to make the world's largest ice box to preserve alien specimens. Soon after you found that digletts were actually genetically modified spearows being used to track the movements of the eponymous molemen of the north. After a few more minutes it turned out that cheddar cheese was actually made by dissolving the bodies of people who got too close to the military base hidden in Raviara Reef.... It wasn't long before you regretted not threatening him. Suddenly, as you crested another minor hill, the old man froze and spun around wildly. "They're coming! I can feel it in my water! THE MOLEMEN ARE COMING!" He quickly downed the potion and dived into the snow as the ground began to rumble. Not knowing what was happening you were quickly swept away as the side of the hillside seemed to break free and slide down into the land below. You glided on a brown torrent that tumbled and spun you as you and your pokemon clung to each other and were carried along in the debris. After what seemed like hours, but was only about twenty minutes, you finally caught ahold of a tree as the tide subsided. If you cared to think about what had happened it would be clear. Your steps had been the minor trigger necessary to set free a body of water trapped behind a thin layer of ice. The mud slide that resulted had covered both you and your pokemon in a thick brownish coat but you were much closer to your goal than you were before. You even managed to lose the hobo. You are now in (very) Soggy Dirt. No changes to HP or status otherwise. Edited by Lonile, Jan 10 2012, 10:24 PM.

3 ![]() Buh. Khaos and Draco both staggered upright; the lizard shook off like a dog to sling mud and bits of the terrain off of his hide, and squalled in irritation since he was wet. He hated wet. The boy seemed to take it in stride, though, trying to get the soil to sluff off of his sleeves by flailing his arms around. He frowned at himself, trying to mimic his pokemon and shake off. It didn't quite work as well for him. The pair looked at each other, both frowning. Thankfully, while the soil was soggy, Brightopolis didn't look to be that far. Hoping to get cleaned off once they got there, the pair started off again towards town. The faster they got there, the faster they could get cleaned off. And also sleep. What a long, weird day. 3 tiny deerAnd so, they walked. Tired as they were, neither of them noticed the herd of deerling until they were right in the middle of them. Draco didn't immediately hiss at them, if only because they reminded him of Atlas and... they were so tiny. The dragon blinked at them, bewildered. They weren't afraid of him, either. One walked right over to sniff at him before losing interest and wandering away. Khaos was also frowning, more in confusion then anything else. A deerling nibbled a tuft of grass off his sleeve as he walked past it. He patted another one on the head as he swerved around it. Weird. The little herd followed them for a little while before they broke off and disappeared back into the fog, leaving the pair standing at the edge of Brightopolis. They looked at each other, Khaos shrugged, and they continued into the city. Left'd. New thread coming later. |
