"By the many colors of Ho-oh, I don't even freaking know how this is possible." Lex sidled across the icy swamp veeeery cautiously, trying to ignore the gleefully cavorting linoone as he slid past with a happy squeal, taking the changes as a brand new ice skating rink made for his enjoyment. Deuce was in his ball for the moment, since they couldn't count on getting a guide again, and the fossil had steadfastly refused to take back off once landing in town. The OME was doing some restructuring or something, so it was apparently not a good time to go trying to deal with whatever it was any more, though leaving it alone couldn't be a good idea. "Eh, who cares about that mission mess, I guess. Probably just didn't want to say it was a badass bidoof that was trouncing the local populace or something..." The hacker shook her head and skidded carefully across another patch of ice. This place remaining frozen all this time was a testament to the power of SOMETHING, anyhow. Foggy swamps weren't too inclined to stay frozen all summer, after all. And since it showed no signs of thawing, she'd have to hope she didn't break her tailbone with a spinout or something on the glassy patches that one couldn't see until they trod on it, thanks to the fact that it was foggy. So...yeah. There was a Machine that was supposed to fix it somewhere, but it was in another swamp, it seemed. Since this place was known for fog, not wetness, and it'd be too obvious for its solution to be there, it meant she'd have to go elsewhere. Apparently Halcyon Forest was the place to go to upgrade Deuce so that she could travel there easier, though...so that was the basic game plan. Maybe. "Rather silly of them to be in a pother about it, though. I mean, really. If something's terrorizing the area, who's to say the area doesn't deserve it, right?" The strip of blue-green draped over her shoulder shifted a little, fanning her leafy tail wide as she yawned. "Silly humans..." "I'm silly, now, am I? After I went to the effort of adopting you and keeping your secret and..." Lex chuckled as she traced a finger down the scaly hide. The cold here wasn't the best place to have the reptile, but still. She wanted to get to know the grass snake a little better, as she could. Hence the shoulder ride, to let the snivy leech her own body heat, at least. "Oh, we're all silly occasionally. Even me. But you seem a little cleverer than many, if not so exalted as me." "Mhmm..." Lex shook her head at the conceit. Still, it was kind of nice to have someone to talk to again... Travel Plan: Foggy Frozen Swamp, Frozen Valley, Sinklands 1, Soggy Hillside, Mayriver Magikarp Egg: 12/50 Any mod is fine. Never been Fudd'd with Lex, so no prior scores to note. (0.3 )The ice certainly took some getting used to. It had been several months now, and the residents of the Murmur Valley still had some troubles with the temperature. Some had it better than others, though. And of course, when one was made entirely of metal, and not flesh, the temperature mattered a lot less. The paired gear Pokemon spun around, its two faces rotating several times, although there was no change in expression. The Klink hovered above the snow, searching for something. Now, just where had it dropped that loose screw? Several days ago, Klink had noticed that its left portion had been feeling a little rackety, and with some effort (and a friend), it had managed to find a loose screw in its rear. It had been planning on geting it fixed, but sometimes these things just slipped its mind, and then just this morning, it had dropped the screw in the snow around the swamp. At least, it thought it had been around the swamp. it was so hard to tell! This blasted snow. Klink wasn't getting frustrated because of the unrelenting cold, but because of the blanket of snow that smothered everything around. Rrrrr --- ![]() Lv 24 |

.3 ![]() Ziggy's explorations yielded things again! New friends~! The linoone went skidding past the klink into a snowdrift with a squeal, before extricating himself, and tilting his head a little at the searching it was doing. "Noooone~!" he started to sniff about industriously himself. "Whatcha looking for? Any way I can help?" He snuffled about industriously as Lex and her snivy companion moved over that way, blinking a few times at the sight of the linoone skidding across the ice, sniffing away curiously, as he chattered to the wild pokemon. "I'm Ziggy, by the way, it's good to meet you!" "Friendly, isn't he?" Lex snorted softly at the snivy's words, and shrugged. "Very helpful, yes. Helpfulness personified, I guess." She still didn't really get why the fuzzball cheered her up half the time, but he was good at it anyhow. "But what's going on, anyhow?" "Dunno really yet. Though your furry friend is asking if he can help. I think the klink is looking for something." "Klink? You know what it is?" Lex's eyebrows vanished into her hairline. "Yeah, back home, they're not too uncommon in caves. Kinda weird to see one outside, really. But they're an odd little thing. They're very magnetic in nature. And I really don't know what all else." The grass pokemon stretched idly as she watched the byplay, and Lex did as well, wishing vaguely she felt safe in pulling out her computer and looking up the info. It still registered the thing in its padding, however it did...but she'd have to wait till she was out of the fog, really. The last time... Even if it was insulated, she didn't trust THIS fog. 0.3 ![]() The Klink looked up from its search, giving the Linoone a begrudging hello before going back to searching the frozen swamp. Finding out exactly what it was doing took a bit of work, since the Klink was focusing on searching for the lost screw, and only responding in single sentences, but Ziggy eventually found out enough to know what he was looking for. Once Ziggy made it clear he wanted to help, the Klink's attitude improved considerably. While he doubted that Ziggy's nose could sniff out a metal screw faster than the Klink's own magnetic senses, two heads were always better than one. And as it turned out, Ziggy's nose did win. After another ten minutes of searching, Ziggy found a screw at the bottom of a small, ice-cold puddle. The Klink thanked Ziggy (and his trainer, of course), and went on his merry way, off to get the loose screw seen to before he lost it again. Hoorah, another good deed done, and sum total of happiness in the world just went up a fraction. -------------- +1 for helping out a pokemon in need 20 ![]() ~0.2 RP award for finding the screw.

3 ![]() Magikarp Egg: 14/50 Well, this was an adventure, really it was. "Ah, that's the problem. It seems that it's missing a screw." "Just one?" Lex raised a brow. "Well, in the literal sense anyhow, yeah." The snivy remained wrapped around Lex's shoulders, not about to budge in the cold. Being both plant and/or reptile, she wasn't about to go into torpor. This was bad enough, and besides, the linoone had it handled pretty darn well. And indeed, in the end, found the screw. Lex just kind of followed along, trying to decide how many metaphorical screws she'd lost, considering she was following a badger around, hunting for a lost screw of a wild pokemon that was made up of gears. Go figure, huh? Still, the screw was indeed found after a bit of searching, Ziggy squealing in excitement and plowing into a puddle of slush and sending it flying every which way. "HEY!!" Lex couldn't stifle the shriek as some of it splattered on her. Her snivy passenger dove for cover just in time. "Watch it!" "Noooone..." Ziggy poked his nose up out of the slush, looking abashed as he held his prize between his teeth, letting the klink take it. "If you need..." Lex started to dig out a small toolkit, but frowned as the gear thing hardly took long enough to give Ziggy an abortive thanks before vanishing into the fog. "How rude." Lex gave her badger a pat, shaking her head as she shivered a little from the getting sloshed. "Sorry, Zig, you did great, though, I guess. Though, um..." "A little less of flying slush in the future would be appreciated..." The snivy sniffed a little, poking her nose out from behind Lex's shoulder, where she'd fled. "Nooone..." Ziggy drooped a little, though perked up again as Lex patted him. It was impossible to stay mad at him...it was like being mad at an eager-to-please puppy. Or something. "Yeah, c-cold sucks a bit, but be nice, Virus. We're n-not far from Misthenge. Can dry off there and s-stuff...k-keep from getting pneumonia..." Yeah, sounded like a very good idea. Considering she was starting to seriously shiver in her wet clothes...might as well abort for now, retry later. "Virus?" "Y-yeah. Virus, worm, s-snake, figured close enough..." Lex trudged through the ice and snow back the way they came. Ziggy scampered along behind, pausing long enough to shake the slush off himself where he wasn't going to spray them with flying stuff again. "Hah. Good enough for me. Not that I really care if I have a name or anything." "S-s-sure you d-don't." Well, coulda fixed the screw or something if the klink had waited, probably (provided people don't have an objection to a hacker and computer geek having a toolkit or something) but it didn't, so heading back to town and stuff. Ziggy has Pickup and is still out, if anyone cares or not. I don't. Edited by DarthEevee, Dec 24 2011, 11:43 AM.

3 ![]() So the world was a slightly better place now! And our heroes(?) are now wet. In a frozen place. Man that sucks! But it seems like the universe didn't want poor Lex to add 'freezing to death' to her 'list of terrible shit that has happened to me', so she was able to reach town without being attacked/distracted by anything else. Now go get that frozen mud off of that badger, geez. |
