Travel Info & Notes

Asher had only made a quick stop in the Malral District. It was reaching late afternoon, but it wasn't as sunny as Asher had hoped. The trainer planned to reach Mayriver by nightfall or a little bit later. The Mist Valley certainly lived up to its name. Asher was surrounded by a fairly thick mist. He wiped out his PokeTech to make sure he would stay on track towards Mayriver city and possibly his first gym battle. Scout was perched on his shoulder. The Minccino wasn't very fond of her pokeball and had quickly figured out how to get out of her ball. Since that point, every time Asher would put her in her ball within a minute she was back out and climbing all over him. Thus, the trainer had given up and let her roam about granted she stayed within ear shot of him. With such large ears, Scout could actually wander off pretty far into the distance and still hear her trainer's call.

In other recent happenings, Glitter had evolved into a Butterfree and now fully lived up to her name. Her wings sparkled in ample sunlight and sometimes even a trail of glitter would follow her as she flew. The pokemon had taken a liking to her new image and often took the time to show off. She had become her bubbly self once more, which made Asher feel much better. King had yet to warm up to Asher, but he had spent little time with the bird. Buddy wasn't too keen on all the other pokemon taking up Asher's attention, but he did appreciate the company.

Back in the present, Asher pressed on his way through the surrounding fog. The trainer was zoned in on his Poketech to guide him. This time he was determined to not get lost. Scout, meanwhile, had grown tiredof resting on Asher's shoulder and dove in and out of the tall grass like a jumping dolphin as she kept up with trainer.

My first Fudd Mod! How wonderful.

Keep in mind that Mist Valley is now the FROZEN VALLEY. You are walking on thin ice, literally.

It's snowing Cryogonals! Adorable. But don't fight them because there are a million of them and they will kill you. Just some scenery to keep you entertained - and get you lost.

Visibility is a zero. And unfortunately the "murmurs" of the Murmur Valley haven't stopped. Somehow it's night fall already and everything is black. Something is crying out in the distance, and it kind of sounds human. You'll have to backtrack to the Frozen Foggy Swamp to follow the sounds, but if you do, you'll likely come across a frozen, dying traveler - being harassed by a mean-spirited Misdreavus. :lvl 11, :fl . Catch it and piss off the frozen traveler, or knock it out and make him happy.

Otherwise keep following your path north through the Cryogonals until you get to Sinklands 1 - coming across two Cryogonals, :lvl 8, who are itching to fight. Both are catchable. The outcome is yours to decide.

Lots of choices! Make good ones.

Growing cold, Asher pulled out his coat and put it on. Scout reassumed her perch on her trainer's shoulder. Asher and Scout continued their journey north. There were huge snowflakes falling from the sky. The trainer paused to figure out what on earth was going on. This was an unfortunate mistake. Because, right where he was standing a small shadow formed around Asher's feet. The trainer looked up and a giant snowflake was going to land on him. He cried out and side stepped out of the way. The snowflake made an angry sound. Asher had seen little snow in his life, but he knew that snowflakes didn't make noise. The flake floated into the air an turned around. An angry face was on the snowflake. It growled.

"AH! What the-? Oh crap! A pokemon?" Asher quickly backed off and pulled out his Pokedex.

"Cryogonal , the Crystallizing Pokemon. They are born in snow clouds. They use chains made of ice crystals to capture prey."

The Cryogonal growled again. It was soon joined by a couple more or its kind. Asher and Scout looked at each other with looks of terror, then ran off in the other direction. The Cryogonals still fell from the sky and Asher was careful to watch the sky as to not be crushed by one of the large pokemon. After getting a safe distance from the angry Crygonal, Asher referred to his Poketech for a map. But, it wasn't working. Asher tapped it angrily and the growled angrily.

"Again? Seriously? I thought these things were like guaranteed for life?" Asher spoke aloud to himself. Scout patted his cheek consoling him. Then there was a loud moan. Scout latched herself to Asher's face covering his eyes. The little creature quivered with fear. Asher pulled the Minccino off his face and tucked it in his coat.

"Hey it's f-fine. It sounded human. We better go check it out." Asher calmed the pokemon down a bit and pressed onward towards the sound. Scout's head poked out from the top of Asher's coat. They ended up going the opposite direction they had been. The landscape soon changed from snow covered ground to frozen marshland. Asher frowned the ground would occasionally sink beneath him getting his shoes muddy. The moans grew louder and louder as they continued forward. Two silhouettes appeared in the distance. One was on the ground and was much larger than the other which floated above the first. Asher approached cautiously. There was a large tree only a couple yards from the figures. He decided to hide behind the tree. The silhouettes turned into a man on the ground and a floating ghost above him. It looked like a pokemon. Asher again pulled out his handy dandy pokedex to see what it was.

"Misdreavus, the Screech Pokemon. A Pokémon that startles people in the middle of the night. It gathers fear as its energy."

"Hm, a ghost type. I could use that for my team, and help out this guy." Asher looked at his Minccino, who shook her head as if to say: "Noooo way! I ain't doin' that!"

"Fine," Asher frowned, "King, come on out!" the trainer tossed up his pokeball. The Pidove appeared in a flash of white light. The little bird landed on the ground and stared up at Asher angrily.

"King use Air Cutter on that Misdreavus. Scout and I will try to go help the person." Asher explained. The Pidove took off with a huff and went to follow orders. King cried out and he fired burst of air at the Misdreavus. The pokemon, whose eyes had been glowing gold as the human writhed beneath its power, was pulled out of its concentration. The human pulled his face out of the snow. He looked older, in his late thirties, and thin. He looked like a ghost himself. His mouth spread into a smile of hope.

"Oh thank god!" he wheezed. Asher ran over and crouched down next to him. His covered his body with his coat and helped him sit up. Scout curled up around his neck to help warm him. Asher looked back to his Pidove whom was still battling the ghost pokemon. The wild Misdreavus fired a ball of purple and black energy at King. The attack passed right over the bird, which was unaffected.

"Alright, King use Gust." The trainer stood up as he commanded his pokemon. King conjured up a small tister of wind and fired it at the ghost pokemon. The wild pokemon fired a psychedelic beam at the Pidove. It was a direct hit. The Pidove fell to the ground, but picked himself back up. The blow had definitely done a number on him, but he pressed on. He fired another Gust at Asher's command. The Misdreavus took the hit again and looked tired.

"Finish it off!" the man called out to Asher. The trainer ignored his request and pulled out a pokeball. He rolled the red and white orb in his hand waiting for the right moment. The Misdreavus flung itself at King using Astonish. The bird dodged the attack beautifully giving Asher a perfect opportunity to throw his pokeball. The ball hit the pokemon square in the face. A look of horror swept over the ghost pokemon. She obviously knew what it was. The ball fell into the snow and wiggled three or four times then went quiet.

"Sweet!" Asher ran over to the ball after jumping up victoriously. The man Asher had just saved sat with a look of awe on his face.

"What the hell are you thinking? You caught that demon?!?" the stood up angrily. Scout fell to the ground in asmall pile of snow. She pooped up, shook off the snow and glared at the man. She ran to her trainer and climbed up to her perch on his shoulder. As the man yelled at Asher, he returned his Pidove to its pokeball to rest.

"I'm a pokemon trainer. It's what I do. Besides I bet I can turn this pokemon's attitude around," Asher replied a little taken aback by the man's reaction. The man ripped off Asher's coat and thrusted it into his hand. Then stocked off.

"Uh, do you need any help getting to a town or something?"

"No! I have a cabin a only a mile or so from here!"

With that, the man disappeared into the fog. Apparently he wasn't as close to death as Asher thought. Shaken by the event, the trainer looked back to his Poketech. He had fallen back to the marshlands outside of Malral. He sighed. At least he had caught a Misdreavus, but now he had that much father to get to Mayriver City. Asher put on his coat and Scout slipped in the pocket between him and the garment. Asher zipped it up and turned north to make up for the lost ground. Hopefully, they would get into too much trouble on their trek north. The Cryogonol still fell from the sky. Asher hopped back and forth acroos the landscape attempt not to tick off too many Cyrogonols along the way.

(0.5 :gexp2 and 4 on the trust scale. Pidove seems like it should have actually had quite a lot of trouble with that Misdreavus... Anyway, you caught the bugger, who's Lv 11, :fl, and has 3 :anger )

---

Moving along further, you see a pair of Deerling. One is revelling in the snow and ice of the area, but the other is shivering like crazy. You soon see why. For some reason, it was unable to adapt with the sudden cold weather, and has remained stuck in its summer form, and that is really not appropriate for this weather. It's freezing!

The first Deerling (normal one) is capturable through battle, the second one can be befriended (One Pokeball each). If you choose the second Deerling, it has some genetic defect that does not allow it to change forms. It will permanently be in Summer form, and will be affected in cold weather.

Now holding 5 Pokemon, Asher walked with a bit more confidence. He was still lost in the Frozen Swamp, but that didn't seem very important at the moment. The trainer trekked through the cold, soft ground doing his best to avoid as much mud as possible. Eventually, he reached a large dry patch of grass. The Cryogonals gave way to actual snowflakes. The snow had formed a light covering over the field. In the distance, two Pokemon where playing in the snow. One was definitely more energetic than the other. It was prancing about while the other stayed in one spot and shivered. Asher approached them cautiously as to not frighten them.

The Pokemon that had been prancing about spotted Asher and Scout. It froze and watched the pair closely. Asher crouched onto one knee. The snow was cold and made his jeans wets. The trainer winced from the extreme temperature change on his skin. He was able to pull himself together and put on an inviting expression. The Pokemon calmed down and pranced over to him. It was small and had four hooves. It was brown and a small flower on top of its head. Asher pulled out his Pokedex to see what it was.

"Deerling, the Season Pokemon. The turning of the seasons changes the color and scent of this Pokémon's fur. People use it to mark the seasons."

"Hm, that is interesting," Asher spoke and petted the little Deerling's head. He looked up from the Deerling he was petting to see another Deerling. This one was different than the first. Instead of being brown, it was green. It shivered and gazed back at Asher. Apparently this little guy hadn't changed with the seasons. He must be stuck on a different season, and this one must be stuck on summer from what the Pokedex said.

"Aw poor fella," Asher went over to shivering Deerling. It looked up at him poor pitiful eyes. The trainer took off his coat and wrapped it around the little animal. Scout was none too happy to be evicted from her warm haven from the cold. She broke into her trainer's backpack, found her pokeball, and escaped into it. Asher picked up the freezing Pokemon and carried it out of the snow fall to under a large tree. The other Deerling followed behind Asher. When the trainer set the other Deerling down in a nook within the tree, the brown Pokemon snuggled up next to it. Satisfied with his second good deed for the day, Asher stood up and began to continue on his way. He took a few steps away from the pair. He stopped when he heard a weak call from behind him.

"Deer," the green Deerling said weakly and stumbled out from his warm spot. Asher's coat hung over its body, the sleeves of the jacket drug in the snow. Asher turned around to see the Pokemon attempting to follow him. The trainer crouched down and greeted the Deerling.

"Do you wanna come along?" Asher asked the little deer. It nodded its head. He seemed to be gaining more and more energy. The brown Deerling walked up to his friend's side with a concerned look. The summer Deerling nudged his friend as if to let him know everything would be okay. Asher pulled out an empty Pokeball from his bag and held it out for the Deerling. The green deer poked the button on the front of the ball. It opened and the Deerling was engulfed by a red light. The ball wiggled for a moment then settled. Asher tucked the ball in his pocket and patted the other Deerling on the head. The Pokemon turned away slowly then scampered away.

The Pokemon trainer collected his coat from the ground that was left from when the Deerling had disappeared into the Pokeball. It was a bit wet, but better than not wearing a coat at all. Asher regained his bearings the best he could and continued his way north. Hopefully, he would get out of this swamp soon.

Think you're in Sinklands 1?

Anyway you can cross over into Soggy Hillside if you like.
There you'll find three young grass types, you can decide what species. They seem to be a bit lost.
These grass types are normally looked after by a Bellossom who seems to have gone missing, what happened to her you can decide, and are supposed to live in the Healthy Field of the Sanded Grasslands.
Helping them back to their home and finding their lost guardian will impress one of them enough that they will happily come with you.

The landscape became hillier, but the ground remained soggy and muddy. Asher sighed. He was cold, wet, and his shoes looked chocolate covered. The trainer now carried a full party of Pokemon. He felt like a full-fledged trainer now. But no ever tells you about the difficulties of traveling from town to town. He breathed into his hands to warm up. The temperature had been slowly rising, which gave Asher hoped that he was making progress north. The sixteen year old decided to check his PokeTech one more time. He tapped the little device and a map appeared on the screen.

Finally a glimmer of hope! He thought. He adjusted his course to keep moving north. This new direction brought him to the bottom of a giant hill. The boy looked up then sighed again. So much for his good fortune, he started his hike up the hill. His breathing became heavy about one-fourth of the way up the hill. By the time her was nearing the top, Asher was pressing down on his knees to help with each step. Once he reached the summit, Asher collapsed onto the grass. The temperature had risen significantly. The trainer pulled off his coat and stuffed it into his backpack. Asher got up and dusted himself off. He breathing had become almost normal. He wouldn't need another cardio workout. The sun was growing closer and closer to the horizon. The time on his PokeTech said it was just after 5 PM. If he was going to reach Mayriver City by nightfall, he needed to pick up the pace.

The trainer restarted his journey north. He reached the beginning of the downward slope of the hill and then he heard a bit of chatter to his left. The trainer looked and saw three blue, weed-like Pokemon. Curious, Asher whipped out his Pokedex to see what they were.

"Oddish, the Weed Pokemon. It often plants its root feet in the ground during the day and sows seeds as it walks about at night."

Seemed a bit strange that if they were generally nocturnal, that they would be wandering about at this time. What seemed even stranger was that the three little Pokemon where looking about confused they had lost something or someone. Asher approached the small group of grass-types. The group didn't notice Asher at first. They talked amongst themselves in a very worried. Then, one of them noticed the tall trainer that towered over them. It began to tremble a bit and stared at Asher with wide eyes. Its friends eventually followed the stare. All three of them stared up at the trainer, who until that moment was oblivious to how intimidating he appeared to them. Asher crouched down to their level. The Oddish calmed down a bit and formed a half circle in front of the trainer.

"You guys okay? You seem a little lost," Asher asked the cluster of plant Pokemon. The middle Oddish who had spotted first came forward a bit with a nod, "Well do you know how you got here?"

The same Oddish nodded again. It looked toward the northwest. Asher frowned. It wasn't too far off from the direction. Asher scratched his head. This trip would probably mean that he wouldn't reach the city by nightfall. Asher sighed; he seemed to be doing that a lot lately.

"Alright, I'll help you guys get back home," Asher patted the middle Oddish on the head and stood up as he spoke. All three of the weeds smiled and cheered in their own language. The middle one led the way north and down the hill. It was actually quite a scene to watch: three Oddish lead a sixteen year-old trainer down a hill against a setting sun. The group continued on until the sun was half hidden behind the horizon.

The scenery had changed. The fog had cleared and the temperature had shot up significantly and now was a very nice and comfortable temperature. The ground became firm and normal. Asher was relieved to be out of the marshlands and swaps. There were a few large clusters of trees that had scattered themselves across the vast field of thick and healthy grass. The Oddish leader, whom Asher had figured out to be a female, grew more excited as they approached one cluster of trees. Well calling it a cluster was definitely an understatement. It was almost a small wood. The trainer followed the band of plant Pokemon deeper into the miniature wood. The Oddish moved easily through the brush and vegetation, meanwhile Asher as accosted by braches and roots.

How much further in are we going? Asher thought. But as he finished this thought, the trees ended abruptly and gave way to a small clearing. It was almost a garden paradise. Flowers of all kinds blossomed everywhere in all different colors. It was literally a haven perfect for raising baby Pokemon. There was a small pool with a large tree growing over it. A large nook was naturally carved into the trunk of the tree. The Oddish rushed into the nook. Asher crouched down to look at what the Oddish were so excited about. Another Pokemon lay on a bed of leaves. It was a grass Pokemon like the Oddish. It had a grass skirt and two large red flowers on it head. Everything about the Pokemon was wilted. It called softly to the Oddish. It must be taking care of the little Pokemon. Asher guessed that the Oddish had been looking for something to help their sick caretaker and gotten extremely lost. Asher pulled out his Pokedex once more to see what the sick Pokemon was.

"Bellossom, the Flower Pokemon. When the heavy rainfall season ends, it is drawn out by warm sunlight to dance in the open."

The trainer frowned. The Bellossom didn't seem to be poisoned or have any really status problems. He had a few potions in his bag that may be just what this Pokemon needed. The trainer rummaged through his backpack and pulled out a spray bottle.

"Here let me help," Asher showed the lead Oddish the potion. It looked at nervously, and then stepped aside for Asher to use it. He squeezed the trigger. A healing mist floated onto the Bellossom. It perked up almost immediately. The caretaker was able to stand on its own. The Oddish chattered and surrounded their guardian. After a few hugs, the Bellossom came over to Asher and took his hand and shook it with both of its own.

"Now problem, happy to help," Asher replied and crawled out of the nook. The grass Pokemon followed and went to the edge of the pool. The Oddish danced about happily and the Bellossom shot purple glowing leaves into the air. The leave floated gently onto the pool. Ripples crossed over each other peacefully. It was really quite beautiful. Asher took in a breath in awe. The trainer pocketed the empty potion to trash later.

It was now late evening and would be dark soon. If he was lucky, he would reach the city just after nightfall. Asher took his leave of the place. He managed to get out of the small wood back to the field. From behind him the trainer heard something call out.

"ODDIIISH!" the lead Oddish stumbled out of the vegetation. Asher caught the little Pokemon. He lifted up and it chattered at him. Asher looked at the Pokemon with a quizzical expression. He set it down. The Pokemon quickly figured out her message was not getting through to the trainer. Thus, a game of charades began. The Oddish took a few steps back, crouched down, then suddenly jumped forward with a cry. Asher's face became even more confused. Then the grass Pokemon produced a shower of petals and attacked a nearby tree again. The seemingly thick trainer comprehended what the weed Pokemon was trying to say.

"Oh, you want to come with me!" the sixteen year-old exclaimed. He pulled an empty Pokeball from his bag and set it on the ground for the Oddish to touch. The Pokemon did that just that. It disappeared into the ball which quickly settled. Asher picked it up. This was his seventh Pokemon. If he remembered correctly all he needed to do know was press the right button on his Poketech and one of his Pokemon would be sent directly to his PC. Asher decided to pick King to be sent to the PC. The bird's Pokeball was scanned by the Poketech, glowed white then literally teleported to an unknown place. If the trainer had to guess it was to Prof. Willow's lab. Night was just beginning to show itself. Asher picked himself up and headed east ward towards Mayriver. Hopefully, nothing else would inhibit him from getting to the city.

4 - and this is regarding your last paragraph. As far as I'm aware, the seventh pokemon to join your team is the one that gets sent to PC. You do not get to pick. If someone has told you otherwise, let me know. Also, Technically you are supposed to make a new thread when entering a new area, even for one post. I really don't care enough to make a big deal out of it, but I will point that out.

Now I'll fix both potential nitpicks by saying you reach Mayriver without further incident. Mostly becuase you've sat in FT for too long.

The Oddish is Level 8 +1 :happiness
You get +2 :fs for helping the little guys and their pal.

On your way to Mayriver, you find a single use healing item of your choice.

OOC: So sorry! I got caught up in the writing and completely over looked the whole seventh pokemon thing. I should've know having played all ot the pokemon games ever! I apologize. We can just ignore that part of the post and have my Pidove remain in my party! Thank you so much for the flexibility. I will post in Mayriver City for my next thread just saying I picked something up on the way!
