"How many assholes we got on this ship anyhow?"
|
HEY! Keep checking back here because I'll be adding things as they become relevant. First. This game will be running in separate threads for the most part but I may suggest platoons joining forces and combine a thread if you suffer heavy casualties. There will also be a main thread. The main thread will be what I want EVERYONE to read because that's where the story is happening. Platoon threads will be where you post back and forth and have fun. 1. The platoon leaders are: Steely, Frac, Zuzu, Blake, Kirin, Cerby, Floyd, and the NPC Bringer. If you are a Platoon leader you will have 8 spots to fill on your team. As you can see, I have the threads for each platoon made. If you can edit them yourself, please plug in the names of your members. No, you do not have to have actual players fill those positions. Your empty spots will be filled by either a green, red, or blue army man of your choosing. If you cannot edit the post yourself, please PM your choices. 2. The Legend Key. This game relies heavily on a grid map. Please reference the legend to see how each object works. This legend will be updated daily until the event begins so check back often. 3. Many of KJ's original rules apply and you can still join the event if you haven't. If you are not on the legend key and think you should be, tell me. 3 pokemon per person, levels do not matter to me, I will not use them. Please give me a sprite of your character to use on the map. A placeholder is fine - notice Frac is Master Chief and Kirin is Nepoleon. Don't be too picky. I don't care. 'Sign ups' will end Monday evening so either PM me your info or post it IN THIS THREAD. Ok, I'm still introducing you to this stuff slowly so if you have questions along the way, PM me. I'd rather answer them now where I can tell everyone than wait till the event is started and have 16 very confused people. So let me show the map! CLICK ME IM A MAP First off, please note the perspective. If this is difficult to read, let me know and I'll try to tweak it. I thought the perspective view would be more fun. Second, the fog. Makes it kind of hard to see doesn't it? That's the point. That's why you need the M12-ARV and the annoying Dragon fly to help you out. You can move them around as needed, but more on how to do that later. If the fog makes it difficult to see the grid or game pieces, I'll lighten it up some. Next are the letters and numbers on the grid. You may be positioned on a number square, but not a letter square. Imagine that's a hill or swamp that's not able to be traversed. The Spires. See the little lights on top? That means they're working! Each spire will protect its half of the grid from row 'D' down. No lights mean one dead force field, and probably a dead army too... The Tanks. Yep, you have two, and just like you, those drivers can't see any better than you. If you expect them to make their shot, you'll need to help them out. The Huey. It can go anywhere at any time but can only help one platoon per turn. For this reason it's positioned off of the map as a reminder that it's an option. I know, I know..."But MAAAAAV, I can't see my little person, what was the point of an avatar! He's a SPECK!" Hush and let me SHOW you. It's Grid Square A4, Up close and personal As you can see, you can clearly make out the M12 and the little men representing Floyd's Platoon. The Fog has been graduated in the pic to help show you how far you can see. The immediate square is just fine - hazy but visible. The neighboring squares, not so much. Who knows what Nepoleon is doing under that cape... And of course the squares further out are 0% visibility except where Lexx and the M12 are intervening. Again, I'm not going to tell you how to navigate just yet, this is just a how too for how to read the map. Every platoon will get one of these nice close up shots every mod. "MAV! What a lot of work that is! You're going to take forever to mod this thing and it's just going to die again." No, not really. Thank you photoshop and layers. This will take a few minutes of my day away, but not nearly as much as giving you EACH a boring play by play of who's doing what and making it sound epic. I'll save Epic for the main threads. But I've said too much already. Just take a look at the maps, compare it to the legend, and start thinking about it. If you don't have questions, then I'm not doing my job! And finally, yes, your avatars are highlighted different colors. Why? To help you tell who is who! Yellow means BT member, Blue means VP member, Green is OME member, and Orange is Drafted Civilian. "How many assholes we got on this ship anyhow?"

OK! At last, this is the how to move and WTF am I looking at thread. We've went over all the little sprites in the legend key already so you should know what everyone looks likes. You might also have notice dthat some of those player sprites aren't on the legend any more - that's because I have an emote limit and I wanted to list them by platoon and show the NPC's status for easy tracking. Since I can't do that, each platoon will be shown in the platoon thread. Each character will check the first post of their thread whenever a mod is made to see the status of all their platoon members. Example. Mav has the enemy lob a grenade at Steely's platoon. I'm not going to go into silly boring details in the main thread. What I will do, is say just that...an enemy streaked across the field and lobbed a grenade into their mist...to find out how that effected your members, go your thread where the boring shit happens. That's where I'll post the play by play. NPC Member 4 had his entire team wiped out, there's pieces of him and them everywhere. Steely's ears are ringing but she survived the blast, her whole team are down four HP blocks and their moves burned of 1 PP block each. So on and so forth. The actual stat will be edited in the thread's very first post so depending on how much posting you guys do, you will have to flip back to the first page of the thread to look. Now, you should know where to check your stats after a mod. How do you move around? Ok, to help keep this simple, you will move as a platoon. Only if your forces are devastated should you need to join up with another platoon. You may move one grid square at a time, and a grid square is defined as A1 or B2, etc. Don't worry about that mini grid inside your squares, that's for my reference only and has no relevance on how close NPC 4 in one platoon is to Player so-and-so in another platoon. You may move diagonally. One platoon and the enemy may occupy one square at the same time. You may occupy the same square as a tank or a pod or a spire too, no problems there. Here's the catch! You can't move into a square that another platoon is occupying. You may move to a square that another platoon is vacating though. Which brings me to how to tell Mav what you are doing. In your own threads, I want you guys to RP to your hearts content. If I Mod the main thread and something awesome happened to you, RP THAT. Discuss and reach conclusions in your threads. They're yours. You don't have to worry about me or anyone else cluttering them up. Now, just because you are not RPing in the main thread, does not mean you will not be posting in it. I will need my platoon leaders to pick a back up out of their actual players in their platoon to post for them in if they aren't going to be here. I will give a 24 hours notce that I am going to post a mod. That means the platoon spokesperson will gather all the info from your recent RPing and post a play by play for their platoon in the main thread. Example. I've modded. Steely sees that she needs to move her platoon forward one square, her team mates have used stat boosting moves to get ready for a fight that hasn't started yet. So what she will do it post a real short post saying: Steely's platoon moves to C4. Steely's pokemon did this, Pokemon 1 (enter move here), Pokemon 2 etc... All Red NPCs did this... All Blue NPC's this... Green NPC 1 did this Etc... Yes, that will be a long list, that's why you aren't RPing it in the main thread. Now, lets say Kirin wanted to move diagonally to C4 but Steely posted before him. Steely will get the C4 square and Kirin will get butted over to the next nearest of my choosing. So now you want to attack the enemy, how do you that? You've moved forward and according to my fog rules, you can't see anything beyond your adjacent squares. So you've requested either M12 or Lexx to shine the light on something. In the beginning of the battle, the enemy will still be far enough away that you still wont see them. You'll have to lob something blindly. There's lots to hit out there, so don't worry, but long range weapons are your best shot. I will need to specify targets in your play by play post. Steely fires rifle at G4. Dragonite pisses on D3. Platoon requests M12 to point to C5. Platoon Requests Lexx go to F2. You can aim for targets beyond your own square whether or not you can see it. You can send pokemon beyond your own square with the assumption that they boomarang back at the end of the post (The enemy can do this too). For simplicities sake, they have unlimited range. If you can't see it, you're accuracy might suffer, but you'll still do some damage if something is there. How to use Lexx, the Huey and the tanks? You can do this along side your normal array of attacks. Each of them can be used once per round. The first platoon to request them gets them. You may only request use of one tank at a time though so there's one free for someone else. You can move the tanks around too but if they move, they're not firing. OK! So that's not much to go off of so let me put up a visual example of what you'll be looking at. This is Floyd's Platoon's starting square: ![]() Floyd's platoon is boxed in and can't go anywhere until someone else does but his pokemon and his teams pokemon can still do something. What I will do for Floyd is wait for someone in one of those adjacent squares to post and move their platoon. Then, following their post up I'll say that his bunch are going to move to their square since they are vacating it. I'll also list member by member, pokemon by pokemon any of the actions that are going to happen. First round is the best time for stat boosts! As for where the M12 will go. Platoon's can request it go somewhere, but it doesn't actually mean Floyd will get there next turn because Floyd's platoon will move around just like all the others. The SPOTLIGHT can extend beyond Floyd's square, up to four squares. Lexx acts like the Huey because she can fly. She won't be held up by other people blocking her path. Now it's time for questions. The Q&A thread is up, so fire away! And you might want to give me until Friday evening for the Kick off post/story whatever just in case. |
