Raijin panted heavily in the fog while Steely heard the noises of the rest of her platoon behind her. She glanced over her right shoulder, squinting into the fog but unable to see very far. When nothing changed, she sighed and looked at Celeste. Steely looked pretty damn tired, honestly. "Movin' forward sound like a good idea to you? Not much going on back here..." she looked around at their group; soldiers waiting expectantly for orders. "We're going to get worn out awfully quick. Wonder if it's even worth it to boost our stats," Steely said, half to Celeste and half to herself. So she thought about it while waiting for any input from Celeste on the matter. Hurr. Venusaur has Growth, Hypno has Nasty Plot, Sneasel has Agility and Hone Claws, Lanturn has Aqua Ring and Stockpile, Machamp has Focus Energy, Zangoose has Swords Dance. Then there's Raikou who's got Double Team and Calm Mind, Dragonite's got Safeguard (yes), Dragon Dance, and Agility, and Sandslash is armed with Swords Dance, Safeguard, Defense Curl and... that's it. Thoughts? Just thinking about boosting moves right this second. Edited by Steel Cerberus, Apr 30 2011, 01:03 AM.

0.2 ![]() Aphrodite was next to Raijin, eyes and ears trained on the expanse of fog ahead and muscles tense. The lopunny quivered, looking ready to leap out at the first thing that appeared hostile. Celeste shifted a little on Jane's back. She was afraid, but was more draped in gloom than the trembling mass she'd been at the Battle of Brightopolis. She'd resigned herself to this. There was no surprise this time. She was not a soldier anymore; it was not her job to fight this war, and yet it seemed to be that fact that was keeping her here. Celeste was not here out of duty to her region. Celeste was here because she would not let herself turn her back. Because she had to fight beside her friends. Steely looked at her. Subconsciously, she sat a little taller on her Black Tesla mount, the specially-bred arcanine trying, much like nearly everyone here, to see through the fog. "We're in the front. We probably should, so we don't box in anyone," she commented, glacing at the surrounding soldiers. Uniformed, ready to obey Steely's order. They had both once been OME, and yet the strangers seemed a world apart from them. The second question, more an observation really, took a little longer for Celeste to respond to, partially because she wasn't sure if it was being aimed at her at all. After thinking it over, she gave a small nod. "It's worth it, I think. Fatigue's going to be the last of our problems if we don't have good defenses, and we'll wear out even faster if we have to use a lot of attacks to take the enemy down. We just have to be efficient." Easier said than done, of course, but Celeste read pokemon books like other women read fashion magazines. She let out her remaining pokemon with twin flashes of red as her mind started working on ideas. Poliwrath crossed his arms, but seemed fairly at home in the fog and muck. Nightshade flew a quick circle and, after catching sight of her favourite not-Celeste person, gently landed on Steely's head and tried to shake the moisture from her wings. Lopunny's got Defense Curl and Poliwrath has Belly Drum. I think, given the PP system, we should focus on moves that boost a stat multiple times, or boost more than one stat, if the pokemon's got it. I'd probably pick Hone Claws over Agility for Sneasel, since it's already pretty fast and accuracy's pretty important right now. Not sure on Lanturn. Aqua Ring is worth more energy than Stockpile, since its a healing move, but it might be worth it. Safeguard is pretty much a must. I also wouldn't mind having one of the Lanturn shoot some water at Poliwrath after Belly Drum, if you think that's a good idea. Edited by Vulpix Windchimes, May 7 2011, 05:11 PM.

.3 ![]() Steely again looked over her right shoulder into the fog, and again didn't see anything. She looked like she was going to say something about whatever was bothering her, but she quickly snapped her mouth shut. "Alright. Hey, would you be comfortable commanding half of these guys?" she asked suddenly, looking at Celeste. Granted, there weren't too many that Steely couldn't handle all of them, but it might make Celeste feel better to have back-up. Or it'd make her paranoid to know she was responsible for some of them, who knows. Steely was giving her the choice. Once they got that figured out, then perhaps they could start boosting. For some strange reason, the idea of splitting up the NPC's between us didn't occur to me. So uh. If you want, you can take 3, 4, and 5 and I can take 6-9? Or if you want certain colors you can take those? *shrug* I don't care. So Growth for Venusaur, Nasty Plot for Hypno, Hone Claws for Sneasel, Aqua Ring for Lanturn, Swords Dance for Zangoose. I just asked Mav and Safeguard only protects an individual's team. :( So bluh. Poliwrath can get a squirt after Belly Drum, yeah. Either Double Team or Calm Mind would be good for Raider. Maybe one of each. Delta can Safeguard and/or Dragon Dance, and Backers can Swords Dance. Oh, and moving forward a square. Is that it? We should prolly boost twice huh? 0.2 Celeste froze in place at the suggestion. Her? Command? She turned Jane around to look at the soldiers behind them. A few of them seemed to be looking at her intently. Steely had been high-ranking in the OME. Celeste had not. Did she even have the right mindset to lead? She would have to. Celeste gave Steely a small nod before pointing at a group and making a circle with her finger in the air as if forming a loop around them. "You three. With me." The young woman sent another glance at Steely, hoping to confirm that that was all right, giving her ponytail a faint tug with a rush of nervousness. She had only just then realized that her friend may have had a particular group in mind. Assuming there were no objections, and Jane and her rider turned to face forward again. Celeste looked at Poliwrath, then looked over her shoulder at one of the soldiers and his Lanturn. "I'm going to need some of your water power. My Poliwrath knows Belly Drum." He nodded. The water type wasted no time after hearing that to raise his fists and start pounding his stomach. The booming beat sent a shiver down Celeste's spine. It sounded like a wardrum; how appropriate. Sure, I'll take three, four, and five. Ergh. Wish I had Andromeda now. Up to you if you want to use Safeguard, then. Aqua Ring is set up in a single round, so maybe an Aqua Ring and then a Stockpile for number seven's Lanturn, while number four's Lanturn uses Aqua Ring and then heals Poliwrath? I'm going to have Aphrodite use Defense Curl, since she doesn't have any more effcient moves and I want her to have the extra defense because she's an up-close fighter. My half would look like this then: Celeste: Lopunny (Aphrodite): Defense Curl (Raises the user's defense by one stage) x2 Poliwrath: Belly Drum (Maximizes the user's attack and cuts their HP in half) -> Stand By Venomoth (Nightshade): Standing By M3 (Red): Venusaur: Growth (Raises the user's attack and special attack by one stage) x2 Hypno: Nasty Plot (Raises the user's special attack by two stages) x2 Magneton: Standing By M3 (Blue): Sneasel: Hone Claws (Raises the user's attack and accuracy by one stage) x2 Lanturn: Aqua Ring (User heals 1/16th of its max HP every turn until it faints or switches out) -> Water Gun at Celeste's Poliwrath (Regular attack; heals Poliwrath 1/4 health due to Water Absorb ability) Crobat: Standing By M5 (Green): Rhydon: Standing By Machamp: Standing By Zangoose: Swords Dance (Raises the user's attack by two stages) x2 Edited by Vulpix Windchimes, May 7 2011, 05:13 PM.

.3 ![]() Stealin' this from Blake who stole it from Kyo (References) Steely slid off of Raider's back while Celeste waffled around about leading. She peered around his chest and watched as she took charge, finally smiling a little. "Works for me," she said simply, stepping around Raider and scratching his chest as she did. You're not going to stay with me? "Nah. You need to have free range of motion and besides, I have Bec," she called out the big mightyena, who quietly looked around while Steely climbed on. "Alright folks, start boosting and let's move forward," Steely patted Bec on the neck, and the dog started forward in a walk, Steely's four soldiers following behind. Up above, Delta was twirling in her deadly dance, and Backers was next to Raider, doing something similar. The soldier with the lanturn that was with Steely looked over at the poliwrath, and directed his own fish to give the fighting frog a squirt of water. So here's the whole thing.

0.2 ![]() "You heard her," Celeste said to her own three, trying to sound authoritative. She was really only used to using that kind of voice on pokemon. "Boost up. Energy efficient moves where you can, but anything healing has priority. We can't depend completely on the pods." Jane trotted beside Bec easily as they advanced, much calmer about the situation with her old buddy nearby. Celeste kept her eyes trained on the consuming fog ahead, keeping her breathing even despite the chilled and damp air she was inhaling. She could hear the three she'd been given command of following in her wake, sharpening claws and rushing water mingling with footsteps. Aphrodite kept to the side of the electric legend, muscles tensed and curling her ears around herself protectively. Poliwrath's drumbeat eventually faded, whatever damage he'd sustained while working himself up vanishing in a rush of life-giving water from the Lanturn. Nightshade was simply silent; her time would come when they had a target. *nod* Looks good. Celeste has the free temporary rifle and knife, though, if we're still using those. .2 (I'mma edit my other posts with your Gexp, sorry!)Steely winced as something thundered off to their left, and just about froze completely at the sound of the missile. Becquerel growled, green arcs of electricity fizzing around them both. The trainer shook her head and rubbed her eyes when she realized it couldn't break through the shield. "Right. The shield," she sighed, listening to the radio growl with Floyd's voice. Or if Floyd was only talking to Bringer, oh well, the idea occurred to Steely anyways. "Want to send the fliers out? Maybe they can pick up on something and let us know where it is. Think Nightshade could keep up with Delta and those two Crobats?" Steely looked up at the moth perched on her head, "No offense or nothin'," I'm thinking to have them move forward a square and send Delta/Crobats/Nightshade somewhere ahead to scout? Maybe Raijin, too, idk. Raider's more likely to maul something, or at least try. Or maybe just send everything to one square and see if we can maim whatever we find, idk. That sounds like something Steely would actually do but I know it's prolly not very bright. |

0.2 ![]() At the sound of the tank going off, Celeste may as well have been given an electric shock. Her body went rigid as a shot of adrenaline went through her, and Jane jerked to a stop, the motion nearly causing Celeste to lose her seating on her back. The soldiers around went for their guns, while Celeste went for her whip on instinct, extending the Black Tesla weapon and activating it. The faint hum of its current was lost in the ringing in her ears, which was made no better by the voice of the alien general snarling in his low voice through her comm at Colonel Bringer. Celeste was with Floyd on this one. Whoever had come up with that idea was an idiot. The sound of enemy missle's impact, followed by the flash of orange that came through clearly even in the mist, jarred through Celeste. Jane backed up a little, and her rider pressed into her neck, shuddering as she tried to clamp down on her fight or flight reflex and her knuckles going white as she gripped the electrowhip. She didn't even really hear the radio conversation, but she was shifting her position more upright and putting her mind back together when Steely spoke. Celeste took a deep breath and allowed herself to think logically again. "Nightshade's pretty fast," she said, looking at the venomoth, who looked back with her big buggy eyes. Aphrodite was shaking her head rather furiously nearby to try to reduce the ringing (whatever their ears were going through, it was probably about ten times worse for the lopunny), and Poliwrath was just his stoic self. "She's also got a bit of psychic power. That might help." Thought moved faster than sound, anyway, and if Nightshade beemed her information into the mind of a pokemon to who could speak with them, it might shave some time off their reactions if they found something that needed to be shot at. Celeste thought a little more. "We should have more than just aerial scouts, I think. Visibility's bad enough that something close to the ground might be missed from the air." Meaning, they'd know if the warriors had some form of traps if they sent out ground-bound pokemon. It wasn't a nice thought sending them out like that, but the pokemon were hundreds of times more durable than their squishy human selves, VP vest or no VP vest. Aphrodite blinked a little and looked over, hoping she'd heard right. "I'll go," the lopunny said simply. Celeste nodded, as she'd already been thinking the same thing. "Maybe the sneasel, too," she suggested, glancing at the black weasels. "We can team up a flying and land pokemon and have them scout the same area together, maybe?" --- So, uh, what Celeste said. We could send Delta, both Crobat, and Nightshade as aerial scouts, and Raijin, both Sneasel, and Aphrodite as land-based scouts, and send one of each to a different square to cover as much ground as thoroughly as possible. That's the first thing that came to mind, anyway. I don't know who you want to set up with who if we go that way. Edited by Vulpix Windchimes, May 7 2011, 07:30 PM.

.3 ![]() Steely took a breath and scratched her head, looking out into the blank dimness. This was stupid. They had to get a lock on something at least, to attack. "Split them up into pairs? Raijin can go with Nightshade, Aphrodite can stick with Delta, and we can pair the crobat and sneasel off too. The zangoose too? If we want to stick with what's fast..." she sighed, wondering. The pokemon could move hell of fast, so they could go scout and then come back, perhaps? There were plenty of things staying behind too, if they were needed. But even after the tank and missile sounds, it was still deathly quiet. Given the way Mav is setting this up... idk. I almost want to have Raider/Affy/Delta try to attack something while they're there. Or Raider, at least. It doesn't waste any more PP either way. But like Steely said, split them up by two? Raider/Nightshade, Affy/Delta, Crobat/Sneasel, Zangooses? And how far out do you want to scout? But then, if I squint at the map Mav gave us, I can see the troops way on the far side... and something that kinda looks like our pods? idk man but that bothers me. One of 'em is in K6... Could be the cryogonal? In that case I'm *really* tempted to send anyone but the fliers there and attack. Or maybe I'm reading into this too much, idk. |

0.1 ![]() Celeste nodded a little at the mention of pairs. Nightshade took off and fluttered over to Raijin, and Aphrodite glanced at Delta. Celeste looked at the Zangoose. Not exactly the best pair, since both were on the ground, but as long as each pokemon had someone watching their back, it would work. Hopefully. "Sounds good." The men's pokemon seemed to immediately begin finding their partners. "Where to? I think they some should fan out ahead of us to make sure we know what we're walking into, and a pair or two further ahead of them." It was a little scary for Celeste how quickly these plans were coming to her. I think you might be right on what those are. I'm thinking maybe we could send the Zangoose pair straight ahead to I4, and then have a Crobat and Sneasel pair on I3 and I5 just to confirm there's nothing right in our path. Then maybe send Rajin and Nightshade after that might-be-a-Cryogonal in K6, since Nightshade doesn't have an ice weakness? Not sure what to do with Delta and Affy, though. |

.1 ![]() Steely squinted but it didn't help at all. There was just no way to see, even directly in front of them. They had to do something. An idea came to her all of a sudden. "You know, Floyd's got that weird Defog thingn on his headlights... they're right behind us, too," she looked over her shoulder, still seeing nothing, then at Celeste. That would clear the way and let their pokemon go scout where they couldn't see. Nobody else seemed to be using the thing yet, as far as she could tell. Raider's ears flicked up and he looked at the bug on his head now. He grinned, wiggling his ears merrily even despite the situation. He felt no fear. The jolly fat dragon smiled at Affy and gave her thumbs up, "Ready ready whenever," she squeaked, sounding like a creature about a quarter of her size. We could always have Mav shine the headlights of her HM-SUV in front of us to see? Floyd is right behind us. But if we don't do that (or wait we could do both huh, since the headlights have a limited range), then yeah sending the stuff directly ahead sounds like a good idea. Then Nighty and Raider can go check on possible-snowflake (And attack, prolly with a Thunderbolt on my end), and... boomerang Delta and Affy straight down the middle? To like J/K4? Do we still want to move forward a square? Edited by Steel Cerberus, May 8 2011, 05:16 PM.

0.2 ![]() Affy gave Delta a weak smile. She figured it must be nice to be a big dragon right now. Celeste blinked. Right, Floyd's vehicle. There had been no requests for it yet, so that sounded like a good idea. She nodded. "Good idea. We can send the scouts even further then." Maybe even right into the enemy, depending on where they were. She looked to their own pokemon, then back at Steely. "Are you okay sending Raijin and Delta ahead of the pack?" Nightshade and Affy would be good if they really did end up finding enemy, but she wasn't going to send them without backup. I'd say do both. The headlights, and sending the army men's pokemon ahead of the beam. I'd go for a physical attack for Raijin, though; Cryogonal are tissue paper physically, seriously. And sure, straight down the middle for Delta and Affy; let's go for K4 and see if the soldiers have the snowflakes ahead of them or beside them. Yeah, let's move forward again (forgot to comment on that before). |

.2 ![]() "Yeah, that's fine. You heard 'em guys, zip up ahead and see what you can see. Oh and Raijin," she stopped the big cat before he could race off, and leaned in to whisper to him and Nightshade both, "Chomp down on anything you find. even if you don't find anything, be ready to attack. Show 'em what you're made of," she patted his striped side, and the big cat nodded, eyes shining eagerly. The thunder legend took a deep breath, fangs bared, before letting out a bellow of a roar and charging off into the fog after his battle cry. The rest of the pokemon followed, cheering and howling as they went. The sound quickly faded, though, since they were aware of the need to be stealthy. A little moral boost never hurt anyone, though. Steely chuckled and shook her head, "That cat, man. I guess I can't blame him for being headstrong, though." Finally remembering, she reached down to her radio, dialing in to talk to Floyd, "Hey, Floyd. You're still behind us right? Could you shine that light of yours so we can see if there's anything immediately in front of us?" I need your group's attacks/stuff. :D

0.3 ![]() Nightshade soared after Raijin, trying to keep up with his pace, or at least not lose him entirely. Her own buggy fangs were ready, having taken Steely's 'chomp down' instruction as her own as well. Affy just ran silently, keeping pace with Delta, ready for anything. Raijin's roar didn't do much for Celeste's nerves, but at least she'd seen it coming. She just sank and little lower until the pokemon were gone, after which she addressed the troops under her command. "Keep boosting. We're going to be ready for them." She sounded far more confident than she felt. Those were her last words, falling silent as Steely sent the message through comm, and then nudging Jane's sides to get her moving. Blanks filled in

To say they'd made contact was an understatement. Affy came back, as did the Sneasel and Crobat. Nightshade squeaked furiously over her personal comm, which Affy dutifully translated to let her know that she and Raijin had found a Cyrogonal. The one of the Zangoose came back, fur on end and looking distressed. Recognizing the pokemon as belonging to one of the three soldiers she was responsible for, Celeste brought Jane over and dismounted to address the pokemon herself. The mongoose's report made Affy cringe. "The other one couldn't move," she said. Celeste bit back a curse. "Paralysis. The mounted warriors." She remembered them and their electric-type horses vividly, having helped capture one and the kill the rest of a group. It was an event she'd rather have forgotten, but now she was forced to recall it as she tried to see if she remembered anything about their combat abilities. Not much came to mind beyond 'dropping a building on them works.' Then came the yelling. Celeste nearly ripped her comm out of her ear at the 'mole' rant, and she pulled herself onto Jane's back as Floyd said Lexx was under attack as well. Moments after, Affy suddenly tensed and pointed forward. "Incoming," the rabbit said, and her trainer looked to see something burrowing straight at them, caught in the Defogging beam. Celeste activated her comm. "Looks like we've got another of those moles headed for us, too." She turned it off and looked to Steely. "What do you think? Should we call Raijin and Nightshade back?" Personally, Celeste thought that taking down the Cryogonal was a priority, but they'd have to intercept that burrower, and the tank needed help. Lexx needed help, too, but she was farther away. There was also the stranded Zangoose; if it were only her own life at stake, Celeste would have raced in to save the scout already without a second thought. Okay, so basically we've got a Cryogonal at H6, that Raijin and Nightshade attacked, another Cyrogonal at H1, Zebstrika riders at I3, I4, and I5 (we can assume I2 as well), and Excadrill at D1 attacking Lexx, at E5 attacking the tank, and at F4 headed right for us. There are probably more we haven't detected. We've also got a Zangoose paralyzed and stranded at I4. My first thought is to keep Raijin and Nightshade attacking the Cyrogonal (I was thinking of Night using Sleep Powder), since taking down them gets rid of the enemy's shielding. I also want to send either a Rhydon (or Backers, if you want) to intercept the incoming Excadrill (Earthquake+Type Advantage+Underground=Ouch), and maybe another one to rescue the Zangoose scout from the Zebstrika riders. Wouldn't mind helping out the tank, too, maybe with Poliwrath and one or more of the Machamp. Edited by Vulpix Windchimes, May 12 2011, 02:06 PM.

.2 for the one above your last one and .3 for this last oneSteely nearly ripped her com out of her ear when Raijin roared in victory at finding the snowflake, he was so damn loud. She heard more lightning crackling and figured that he wouldn't come out of that battle unless he was straight up forced to. "Yeah, I think we should leave those two there. Maybe send some help," she looked up at Delta, frowning at the mention of a zangoose being left behind, "Go save the day, Delta." The dragonite nodded and swooped back into the fog. Said zangoose hissed, trying to fight the paraylsis and drive both of its claws into the zebstrika that had attacked it, in revenge. The lights came on behind them and Steely's eyes widened at the thing coming towards them. She assumed it was a sandslash for a moment, but quickly realized it was slightly similar but not really. And it was digging. "Backers, go!" she said, before Celeste could mention it. The sandslash was off, racing at the other mole and preparing her ground-shaking powers to try and take it out before it took them out. Steely took a deep breath, un-shouldering her rifle and handing it to Celeste, "Here, this'll work better then that thing you're borrowing. Just uh, take out this part here and switch it around and it'll shoot bullets then. It's in tranquilizer gun mode right now. Where do you think we should send the other pokemon? I think we should keep moving forward, too," she asked/said, while she was still holding the rifle out for Celeste. They had quite the group, and now that they had enemy contact, they had to use them. "I think I want to send the rhydon in to attack those zebra, but most everyone else'll get caught up in it. Maybe send the crobat with them..." There is so much shit happening at once here. Buh. Thanks for laying out the target squares, though. Steely's giving her tranq. rifle to Celeste for the duration of the battle, if she wants it. Steely wants to keep moving forward, but Celeste could prolly talk her out of it, if you/she thinks it's a bad idea. idk I think we should go protect a pod, but we're not really close to one. Here's what I think I'm gonna do with my guys. I want the crobats to do with the rhydon to do *something*, but what exactly I'm not sure. Though sending them to deal with electric types is a bad idea... ...but wait the Rhydon have Lightning Rod! :D Cross Poison, Confuse Ray, or something else? I'm not sure what to do with the rest of our pokemon, since I don't want them to get caught up in Rhydon's Earthquake. :/ Attack the Cryogonal? I asked Blake in chat and he said he doesn't think he needs the help. So the rest of our lot is free to rape and pillage whatever. Ideas? Somebody else besides Delta could go get the zangoose, if you have a better idea. Delta's a pretty strong attacker... Though if she can attack/retrieve at the same time, that'll work. hope I didn't forget anything so far, buh Next Round Attacks

0.3 ![]() Celeste watched Backlash run off, then nothing short of stared at the rifle being held out to her, watching warily as Steely explained that it could switch from tranquilizer darts to regular bullets. However, the look she gave the weapon was nothing like the look she gave Steely when she mentioned moving forward. The redhead looked between the leader of the Black Tesla and the barrier the towers were forming; it was the severity of the situation mixed with Celeste's general politeness that stopped her from asking something along the lines of 'are you crazy.' Celeste bit her lip; she didn't want to sound like she was arguing with her platoon leader, even though Steely was treating her as something of an equal in decision-making. "If we move much farther, we'll be out of the protection of the towers' barrier," she said, "I think we should maybe hold our ground here, at least for now." She did take the rifle, though, getting used to holding it for a moment; she kept it in tranquilizer mode for the time being. "Thanks. Maybe if the rhydon attack with their bodies instead of using Earthquake, we can send in more pokemon. Crobat should be good for confusion, though; maybe get the mounts to knock their riders off. We could have the sneasel launch an attack from the shadows, too." The remaining zangoose scout let out a determined sound, extending her ( Celeste activated the link to her pokemon in her comm. "Nightshade, I want you to try to get that thing asleep. Affy's coming your way." She looked to the lopunny, who nodded and darted off into the fog. Celeste looked back at Steely. "We should send the fighting types after those ice types." It was good that another platoon's scouts had found a second one; the sooner those shielders were down, the better. "The electric types too, maybe. They won't be much help against those zebras." I looked at their moveset, and the Rhydon don't have to use Earthquake. Backers using Earthquake makes sense since the Excadrill's underground, but the Rhydon could use Drill Run, which is still ground-type and fairly powerful, and then we could bring in more pokemon to maul the Zebstrika without having to worry about friendly fire. I've got this mental image of the Sneasel going all sneak attack with Faint Attack and the Zangoose racing forward being all Spaaaaaarta with Crobat sowing disorientation (Confuse Ray would particular trouble for them since the pokemon are carrying riders) and then the Rhydon mowing everybody down. We should probably also send a pokemon or two (the Venusar maybe?) to attack I2, since I'm sure there's another Zebstrika and rider there. The fighting types (and Affy) and the electric types we could split up and send in some to back up Raijin and Nightshade and some after the Cyrogonal in H1. The Hypno, too, now that I think about it; Psyshock should be nasty with their boosted Special Attack (especially if Magneton uses Screech). And, yeah, Celeste would rather not be blown up by missles, so she votes we should stay put for now. A few blanks filled in

.3 ![]() If only Celeste knew how much Steely wanted to charge right up into their faces and start smashing them with her hammer. Then she really would think Steely was crazy. The woman was just fine doing it all alone, too. But Steely maintained a neutral look right back at Celeste. "That's true, huh. Forgot about that," Steely looked up, seeing nothing out of the range of Floyd's HM headlights. She looked over all the pokemon there, doing a quick count and thinking about what their scouts had found. "Alright. Machamps split and head for the snowflakes, everyone else, form groups and take out those zebra. One of the glowfish can go with the venusaur and a sneasel and see if the line of striped-things goes all the way between the snowflakes. I have some lum berries, so whallop 'em with a petal dance, and we'll go from there," she sighed, seeing everyone head off. It was oddly quiet in their immediate area with everyone gone but the humans. She reached into her coat, and in a flick of her arm, pulled the handle of her hammer right out of her coat and extended it. When she was holding her arm down and to the side, the whole thing was open and crackling with unearthly bright green electricity. She held the handle right under the head with one hand, and the actual handle on the bottom with the other. "I guess I can wait," she mumbled, casting an annoyed look upward at the invisible barrier. I have a handful of Lum berries, so I can heal my Venusaur's confusion after Petal Dance, but what you have yours do is up to you. I wouldn't mind sharing some Lums, but I don't think I'll want to do this Petal Dance thing more then once, at least until the frogs get here. I think that's it? Your Venusaur just needs an attack I think. Look good otherwise?

0.3 ![]() Celeste blinked at Steely. Forgot about that? Forgot about that? Now, admittedly, it made Celeste feel a little better hearing 'I forgot' instead of 'I don't care' but, still, Celeste made a point of memorizing any information that could save her life, and knowing where the barrier ended was part of that. Then again, Steely was a living battery who captured the Legendary Beast of Thunder; Celeste imagined that she must feel invincible. Celeste looked at her own forces. "You heard her. Move out!" She paused to look at the venusaur whose trainer was under her command. "But you, use Double Edge." The grass type gave a slow nod. The zangoose raced forward, claws extended and shouting. "Zaaaaaaaangoose!" The other pokemon weren't far behind, the sneasel vanishing into shadow as the others split into groups and charged off into the fog. Celeste looked at the extended Telecruster, then at Steely. She sort of understood. Celeste was not a stranger to bloodlust; even now part of her wanted to hunt down and slaughter the person who had mounted this attack, who had formed and who commanded this army. Someone who could start a war against a peaceful neighbour, with no apparent goal other than to crush them under their heel, deserved none of Celeste's empathy. But Celeste was afraid, and thus careful, and also had little stomach for seeing the death of pawns. She carefully moved Jane closer to Bec, and then trained her borrowed rifle on the path ahead. The enemy would be upon them soon enough. They would have to come, because with everyone under the barrier, their only choices would be to try to muscle through the valley without their technological firepower, or try to attack the towers. And then Celeste would shoot them. Or at least that was the plan. There! Looks great!

.3 ![]() So it was actually a personality test and not an interview that I had to drive across town for. Luckily I have a phone interview tomorrow, so that should be fun? Anyways. Steely looked up at the rumbling and sounds off in the distance, but their immediate area stayed rather quiet. A crackle of bright green electricity arced around the white canine and his rider as they listened to the radio and the various yelling going on. "Crap. Everyone, hold on tight, earthquake coming," Steely said when she realized what Backers had to do to stop the mole heading towards them. The ground started to shake as the pangolin-thing raced back towards them and made the earth shake. The rest of the attackers adjusted as they needed to, since... you know, they were Pokemon and they had brains too. Raijin yowled with frustration, and spotted the birds behind the cryogonal. Birds and electricity did not mix, so he left the snowflake to the others, and went to maim some birds. One of the soldiers called back his rampaging Venusaur to attack one of the toads back among their ranks in another platoon that didn't seem to be paying attention much. So yeah like Floyd thought in the main thread, this is going to hell in a handbasket really quicklike. "You guys think you could hit that mole if Backers doesn't take care of it?" Steely said, looking at everyone who had a gun. Celeste included. The soldier with the paralyzed zangoose that had been brought back had withdrawn the creature as soon as he realized what was going on with the earthquake, and Steely tossed a berry to him once the shaking had stopped, that he could give it. There was another mongoose that had to be rescued too, but a crobat was taking care of that while Delta helped to mow everything down with the others. I'm kind of to the point where I don't even care about this anymore, so... yeah iunno. Hopefully you'll show up before the deadline so I don't fuck something up. -1 Lum Berry from my inventory. I pretty much copied our last round and changed the target numbers. Hopefully they're right this time. And then obviously I didn't change anything with your pokemon/soldiers.

0.3 ![]() Jane whined and pinned her ears back at the word 'earthquake,' and Celeste patted her neck gently. 'Hell in a handbasket' didn't begin to describe it, really. Celeste nodded slightly at the mention of shooting and lifted up the rifle. It was still in tranq mode, but she was predicting she'd need to swtich to bullets soon. ArghI'vebeensickasadogI'msorry! The G6 Cryogonal has stopped moving because it's asleep, so Raijin should still be attacking there instead of F6, but everything else looks good. I'm going to have Poliwrath try to stop with other Cyrogonal with Hypnosis, too, just in case the attacks aren't enough to take it down. My stuff updated

.1 ![]() Steely's eyes flicked to the sky as she heard one of the tanks launch a shell, and the fireball in the distant mist that signaled its destruction. The woman frowned, though, and looked at Celeste, "Wasn't there two mi-" And then kaboom. Once Steely could see and hear again, she pulled her face out of Bec's neck and looked around. Everyone in their platoon was shaken and startled, but nobody hurt. "The fuck was that?" she put her hand up to her earpiece to listen better. When they finally got word, she dropped her arm and looked off into the mist quietly. Luckily, good news quickly followed. Ok well it was something like good news. The fortress was nearer, but they could see it now. A lot of those zebras were gone, too. Their own air power responded, crippling the fortress where it stood. Steely and a few of the soldiers pumped their fists and hissed 'yes' as their Pokemon continued fighting with the enemy Pokemon. "Alright guys, keep it up. Backers, head out there and see what you can help with. That Zangoose too, here's a berry for that other one," she pulled another Lum out of her pocket and handed it to the newest paralyzed zangoose that was in their group. Steely paused when she heard panting, like one of her own pokemon was running. It sounded like Raijin. She tapped the link to speak directly to him, "Raider, what's up?" I see the fortress. I'm going to go get it. "What." It won't be able to dodge my lightning. I am going to kill it. Steely blinked rapidly, looking ahead even though they couldn't see shit, "Raijin, don't!" she said, though got no response, "Are you listening to me? Raider!" She took a hold on Bec's neck fur suddenly, acting like she was going to charge after her wayward Legendary, but stopped when she heard noise behind her. Looking back, a few of the troops were ready to run right into the line of fire with her, when a platoon had already been blown up by a missile just nearby. That seemed to calm Steely down, though she made Bec pace around them. "Right. Hey, Floyd!" she started into the radio again, "My idiot Legendary is going to go batshit on the fortress, so tell those pilots to keep an eye out for lightning too. He won't listen to me." She sighed and rubbed the bridge of her nose. This is why she didn't take him places. "And hey, could somebody out there drop a rain dance where he is, so he doesn't miss?" she said, voice laced with frustration. She stopped when she heard Alex's voice over the radio, organizing everyone. She sighed and chuckled, bowing her head. "You heard the man, guys. Lets cripple that fortress." Meanwhile, the big cat tore through the soggy valley, straight between the fortress looming ahead. Rain or not, he skidded to a stop nearly in its shadow, hopefully out of the range of its missiles (since he was so close), and started to crackle with electricity. The Legend of Thunder suddenly threw his head back and yowled, sending the discharge straight up into the sky to come crashing down on the fortress. Raider is one of those characters that pretty much does whatever he wants, regardless of what I actually want him to do. -2 Lum Berry from my stock. And I don't know if I got their HP right here... it's kind of confusing. Raider got hurt, but healed it with his Leftovers, and I don't think anyone in our zebra squares got any electrical damage because of the rhydon. But yeah like I said, it's kind of confusing. Your Lanturn got one damage but healed it with Aqua Ring... M7 Lanturn took one damage, but healed again. I think that's it? Though now, after I write all this, Frac is talking about organizing everyone so that he can EQ the front line of zebras and something about organizing a discharge against the birds, and having everything else attack the fortress too, so... yeah I don't know. My targets here might change, aside from Raider, who is going to deliver electrical justice regardless of what anyone says or does. EDIT^10: Actually yeah, everything in the spoiler here is useless now. I'm going to have to redo my targets. Frac's Earthquaking the three squares of zebras and we're going to attack the birds/fortress. Need a Rhydon each to protect from the Discharge from the Lanturn/Magneton in the bird squares, so... Don't send anyone to G6 unless they're resistant to electricity. Done'd, bluh. I think it's right anyways. Alright, fixed.

0.3 ![]() This was why they'd stayed under the barrier. The explosion sent Jane backing up again, whining as Celeste gripped to her mane in nothing short of terror. However, the news that the ice types were down and the fortress was exposed sent an almost-uncharacterisitc thrill through the woman. She's seen the fortress's power firsthand. They both had. The idea of destroying that object of devastation made Celeste grip her borrowed rifle all the harder. Judging by the conversation Steely and Raijin were now having, it seemed the Legendary beast had had something of the same idea, which was confirmed a moment later by the message Steely sent over the public comm. Celeste gave a firm nod. "Let's do this." She swtiched her comm to speak to her pokemon. "Affy, Night, Wrath, back Raijin up. Drop a Rain Dance, Wrath. The rest, hit it with all you've got." She looked back at her troops. "The rest of you, move out!" Okay, think I got it!

"...the fortress is what." Becquerel opened his mouth and made a chaotic, grating, white "....ok, Bec, you're not allowed to talk anymore." The ground suddenly started to shake, and at the same time all of their pokemon returned. The troops started to recall them as they moved away, some turning to run already. Steely certainly didn't blame them. Delta swooped down, carrying Backers and setting her on the ground. Both of them looked a little beat up, but they'd be alright once they got healed. Steely withdrew Backers, looking around for Raijin too. The big cat came galloping up, panting hard but looking pleased with himself. I got it. "Yeah, you sure did. Now c'mon," she turned to Celeste, and hesitated for a second, "You... wanna raid Raijin? No offense, but I think he's faster then Jane..." Edited by Steel Cerberus, May 25 2011, 01:27 PM.

0.2 ![]() "The fortress is WHAT?" Keeping her compsure seemed like a moot point for Celeste at this point, really, though she doubted anyone appreciated the screech that unintentionally went over the com link. Pokemon came racing back as the ground started to heave. Jane was whining and little short of pacing, clearly terrified but too well-conditioned to throw her rider. Poliwrath came running back as fast as his short legs could carry him, holding Aphrodite bridal-style in his arms. The lopunny looked a mixture of exhausted, in pain, and extremely embarassed, along with being fairly beaten up. Celeste would find out later that she ended up getting caught by the fortress' thrashing. Nightshade flew back in similar state as Raijin, giving a triumphant trill as she flew a quick circle in the air and then contentedly landed on the big cat's head. Celeste recalled her two land-based pokemon, then looked at Steely. She didn't even give a proper answer at first, little short of throwing herself off Jane and recalling her (while trying not to hurt Steely's rifle, of course), and scrambling over to Raijin. Only as she was climbing onto his back did she let out a terrified, "Hell, yes." Being the brave Black Tesla member and second-in-command of the platoon was that last thing from her mind. Celeste just wanted to run. |
