Elijah suddenly found himself awake in a hospital. He sat up, looking around at the unfamiliar surroundings; this place was not where he'd expected to come to. The hospital orderly that poked her head in at the right moment was sure that he was okay but expected him to get a few hours of rest until they were sure he'd be able to function - all Elijah asked for was a glass of water and maybe a snack bar if they were nice enough.

For someone who'd been knocked unconscious, he was feeling fairly good. His entire body was friggin' killing him, though - must have been that hit from the gryphon, which he remembered. Wait. The gryphon - what happened? Oh shit, did he mess it up?

There was a laugh that came from somewhere, then a voice - your shoulder. Elijah lifted his shirt off all of a sudden, holding it in his left hand and feeling a serious burning all through his body before spotting the winding tattoo. Ah. That'd be it - and Kismet would've gotten him there. Thank the heavens he had smart Pokémon... otherwise Elijah would definitely be in trouble.

Instructions were instructions though - he had to get some more rest.

~~~~~
Some hours later, Elijah was out of the hospital and into the Pokémon Centre, having healed up his Pokémon. Then he noticed the Pokémon in his Box - Floyd had come through. Awesome. Which meant, on top of having the Fly HM, Elijah also had another pair of Pokémon ready to do the Dojo Challenge - and an old friend back. That could wait, though.
For now, Elijah had to put in some Pokémon to the box, specifically Furioso and Terashi. They wouldn't be of much use to him where he was going. He sent the fighters right on over to Rose, and checked his funds. This was going to be a long day, because now... Now, he needed to be ready.
Party is Remilia, Tiel, Anima and Kismet. APL 50.25.
"Okay so you're not a complete shitstain."
The Larvitar was in tow with Elijah and he could actually understand her. Strange, but that was... well... she wasn't trying to break his arm this time. But she wanted to. Oh how she wanted to. Evidently, a little time to cool off plus a massive bribe of watmel berries was enough to cool her jets just a little. That, and the promise of all the fighting she wanted.
When Elijah got there, the Fighting Ring was broken. The roof had caved in - probably a riot thing. This place was controlled by the OME nowadays but it was also a haven for crime. He wasn't there to sort any of it out, though. Instead, he wanted to train his Larvitar some and let her take on some opponents. She'd be a nasty fighter.
So there they went, trying to find a wild Pokémon to fight.
A quick scout round the remains of the Battle Ring doesn't turn up any trainers looking for a battle; not much point sticking around a battle ring that no-one can use, after all. So, you start looking further afield. The still-occupied sections of the city give way to the abandoned ruins, and before long you're the only living thing in sight. So when a low, multi-layered droning noise begins to seep from a derelict office block to your right, it is very noticeable. The question is; is it worth investigating?
"The fuck is that?" Arkham asked suddenly. Elijah was not used to hearing Pokémon speak, let alone so flippantly. And Arky did not take shit from anyone, especially males. She didn't like males. The only reason she tolerated Elijah was the fact that he fed her tasty things, and that was it. Man. What a day.
Elijah was a little concerned about this. He didn't wanna go in there and, y'know. Have some big chunk of bricks or something fall on his head and get himself hurt yet again. That was definitely not a good idea, because... well, who intentionally got themselves hurt? That was like asking to be thrown off a cliff. Elijah was not one for such stupidity.
Either way, he had his other four Poké Balls on hand, just in case.
"No idea. Let's go."
In the end, curiosity won out. Elijah marched right on in, head held high, and the Larvitar in tow. Whatever it was, she could take it on and win - for a little critter, she was tough as nails.
This is so incredibly stupid... Elijah told himself, just once.
The droning sound increases in volume as you go further into the building. A quick search of the ground floor reveals nothing, and the stairwell has collapsed, making an ascent of the building impossible. However, the droning is not coming from the top of the building. Oh no. It's coming from the stairwell leading down into the basement level.
Once at the basement level, the sound picks up in volume even further. It's still not incredibly loud - about the same as a car out on the kerb - but it's there, and it's definitely getting closer the further in you go. This level is again, mostly deserted. At the other end of the basement, you find a door leading through into a room containing what seems to be the source of the noise. A generator, probably coal-driven, sits against the wall, an occasional writhing finger of electricity snaking up the wires that run from the generator into the wall. Strange that a backup generator would still be functional this long after the Jgsei forces marched through. Especially considering the damage to the casing. Why, if you lean to the side and squint, you can almost see the turbine inside...
Oh
Uh oh
You can see the turbine. Or rather, the lack of one. The actual steam turbine part of the generator is completely trashed and rusted away. There's no possible way it could be making the noise you've been hearing. And that means...
...it's about time for a dramatic reveal.
There is a pattering sound, and you catch a flash of yellow out of the corner of your eyes. Turning round reveals the source of the noise. It's right behind you, blocking the door. It's yellow. It's short. "It" is actually "they". And if they weren't looking quite hungry, they'd probably look a lot cuter.
The damage to this place was fairly intense. As they searched, there was nothing, except for one freaky generator and-
What the heck? There was something wrong with this place, considering the fact there was a generator that was working even though it was about as broken as the gryphon had been. This was strange. Very, very strange... and then there was a noise.
There were spiders. Or something. They looked like ticks... maybe. Spider-ticks, and they looked particularly dangerous. All of them would be an easy drop for Arky, who was looking at them with considerable malice. She was, after all, about as dangerous as Tiel. At least she was to Elijah, anyway.
"So, uh, Arkham..."
"Yeah, yeah, shut up and move."
The Larvitar actually pushed Elijah aside before jumping up into the air and leaping towards the doorway; she came up and, with a little yell from her dark green body, landed in the circle of Joltiks, sending out a massive seismic tremor that would throw all these spiders away. After all, Arky wasn't gonna take this lying down.
The Earthquake worked about as well as could be expected (in this case, "utterly devestating"), and the Joltiks were sent flying in all directions, to go crashing into the ceiling, walls, generator - one sailed past your head and got tangled up in the wires coming out of the generator, and was left comically hanging there, unconscious. Even the walls trembled slightly as Arkham's attack spread out. It was a resounding success. But it wasn't over yet.
A clicking, chattering noise started up somewhere above your head, and a giant Joltik (all of 10 inches in height) clambered down from the rafters. It was ready to defend its home where its siblings had failed. Have at you!
The Larvitar growled, an angry thing - the sound of something that did not want to be pissed off - something you were not stupid enough to piss off, for sure. After all, Arky was a badass. She knew it. If you put something in front of her, she'd break her way through - just like her trainer when he was angry. After all, she was a Larvitar. Breaking things was her specialty. So that was exactly what she was going to do.
The Larvitar's growl became a thundering screech that caused Elijah to cover his ears, before she followed up with the smash of a sharp stone across the Joltik's face.
Fuck these little ticks. Fuck them, fuck them, fuck them - she'd kick the shit out of these annoying little assholes any day of the goddamn week.
Elijah, crouching and covering his ears, could only marvel at the raw destructive power this little Larvitar brought.
The Joltik descends, throwing out a crackling net of electrical energy as it lands on the floor. The net wraps around Arkham, trying to paralyze her. Unfortunately, wild pokemon don't have a very good understanding of type matchings, and the Electro Web fails utterly. Arkham's angry screech in response jars the Joltik's nerves somewhat, but it comes back strong, leaping at the Larvitar, latching onto her chest and biting down on her shoulder. She has to flail around for a few seconds to actually throw the thing off, and once she does, she is seriously ticked off - ticked off enough to send the sharp stone projectile flying with such force that it lodges into the Joltik's underbelly. The spider lets out a piteous screel of pain, before collapsing in a heap, its wounds overtaking its pain tolerance.
So, that's one bug infestation taken care of, a little training done... not a bad diversion, all things considered.
