Elissa and Roberto had reached something of a compromise when it came to clothing. She promised not to run around topless, bottomless, or overall naked, and she didn't have to hide her face, hands, wings, or tail. She also had to wear underwear. Roberto had promised she'd get used to it, but she doubted it, her tail twitching in her constant irritation with the strange garments as they walked through the forest; she'd entertained the thought of darting behind a tree and getting rid of them once or twice, but Roberto happened to be able to read her mind, so it was highly unlikely to work.

The ironic part was that now was probably the best time to try, because the girafarig was fairly occupied in making sure their entourage didn't run off or kill eachother. Of the four pokemon who followed Elissa, Roberto was only one who remotely liked the fairy. Not everyone could have the same sense of adventure and fascination with the bizarre that he did, he supposed.

Veronica, the oddish, was more or less resigned to her fate. Being a slave to the bug-monster known as Elissa was not something she could have ever expected. In fact, some weeks prior, if someone had told her she would be in such a position, they would have found a spray of acid in their eyes. Her resentment ran deep, and she kept glaring daggers at the face on Roberto's tail, imagining all sort of horrible things she'd do the smug psycho if she could. She knew her place, though, even though she loathed it, and waddled along behind Elissa like a good little oddish, lest she be eaten.

At least, when she wasn't fighting off angry pokemon number two. Shade, the poochyena, kept darting around the outskirts of the party, but every time it looked like he was going to make a break for it (he had a series of tells that he didn't seem to think he had), Veronica would spit a little acid in his direction, or just growl at him, and soon he'd lunge at her, barking, snarling, and snapping, and she'd holler back until Roberto forcibly separated them, only for the cycle to repeat itself a few minutes later. The wolf was a big ball of do not want to be here, but if Veronica didn't get to go home, neither did he, and he couldn't resist getting in her face any more than she could resist getting in his back.

August, at least, was quiet. In fact, he hadn't said a peep since Elissa first let him out. The mawile had taken being stolen fairly well, all things considering. Oh, he'd tried to take a chunk out of Elissa at first, though whether it was more out of fear or anger was debatable, but he certainly wasn't afraid of her now. He was just sullen. He dragged his feet and clearly wanted to set Elissa on fire from the way he was glaring at the back of her head, and the set of fake jaws on the back of his head were snapping in irritation with every step. Still, he was quiet.

Elissa cocked her head to one side as they reached the forest's shrine and she paused, studying it. Shade tried to run for it again and Veronica tackled him, the pair rolling across the ground like a snarling tumbleweed as their fairy trainer walked, slowly, up to the structure of worship. She seemed to already, more or less, know what it was for, so Roberto focused on prying the two other pokemon apart rather than explaining.

Fascination filled Elissa, her feet moving almost of their own accord. She reached out her hand toward the shrine, brushing the tips of her fingers over the worn and slightly grown-over surface...

Blood, flowing, pooling. Shouting voices, booming thunder, howling winds. Roars of victory before the battle has even begun.

Elissa leaped back, as if burned, hissing at the shrine with her claws out. Roberto's head snapped up, even as his other head had Shade by the scruff. *Elissa?*

The fairy recovered quickly. "I'm fine. Let's go."

Shade and Veronica looked at eachother, for once without malice, as the pup was dropped back down to continue walking. One thing they agreed on was that this thing they were following around was weird. August, for a moment, looked surprised, and then it was back to wanting Elissa to fall out of a tree and break her neck.

Having no idea where you came from or who you are can really take a toll on a person. On top of that these annoying items called clothing are wrapped around your body and you apparently cannot stand them. Traveling to find out who you are, is that not everyones quest? Yes, in a life time it is, but it is very apparent that yours is unique.

It would appear that your Girafarig, Roberto, is the one that is the peace maker of the group. He is the one that holds your group together. Yes, he is the bridge between the trainer and her Pokemon, or so observed the small apple eating Aipom sitting in the tree behind you. He sat quietly watching our Pokemon quarrel below him.

Then when you touched the small shrine in front of you he noticed that truly there was something different about you. Using his tail to swing down and he grabbed onto the branch he was sitting on with it. Inevitably the poor monkey swung too fast and his half eaten apple slipped out of his hands. This small fruit nailed Shade on the head, just as he began to walk again. Knowing he might be in trouble not, the Aipom swung back around to try and sit on top of the branch again and attempt to scurry up the tree before it was seen. Sadly the branch was too old and snapped then the poor Pokemon swung back around. The branch and the long tailed Pokemon began to fall out of the sky. The Aipom screeched as it fell, making itself very apparent to your party. It unwillingly landed on top of your Poochyena.

Amazingly, neither one of the Pokemon were hurt, even though Shade broke Aipoms fall.

Konk!

Shade blinked at the peice of fruit sitting on the grass. Veronica started snickering and he growled at her. Roberto decided that he'd just let them maul eachother this time.

Screeeeeeeeeeeech! Splat!

Elissa nearly shot up the tree she was next to in surprise. The fur around her neck, or what of it was visible with the T-shirt she was wearing, stood on end, and her tail puffed out. She whipped around, trembling, ready to bolt, only to see a purple monkey on top of Shade who, as soon as both the ringing in his ears and the stars in front of his eyes faded, started to growl, the volume steadily climbing. Veronica was rolling on the grass, howling with laughter.

Roberto rolled his eyes and removed the pest, by swatting him like a fly with a lash of psychic energy...right toward August, who nothing short of lunged forward, faux jaws snapping. That was a bit of surprise, but if he wanted to take out his anger on something other than Elissa and the others, no one was about to stop him.

Especially not Elissa, who silently withdrew an empty pokeball. If he was still standing after that mauling, he'd find out exactly why the majority of the fairy's pokemon hated her.

Poor Aipom, all it was doing as enjoining a small snack. In reality he did not want to cause an harm to anyone. However, this must be what you get when you are a curious little purple monkey. The Pokemon attempted to stand up as the Poochyena growled at him. However, he did not stand up for long for he was grabbed by Robertos Psychic attack and was thrown through the air.

For a brief moment the Aipom closed its eyes, only to open them at the sight of the Malwiles teeth. Doing the first thing that came to his mind, Aipom used Astonish on you Malwile. He made what sounded like a really creepy scream and smacked your Pokemon across the face with its tail. This caused the very angry and now surprised August to flinch. Aipom then flew past him and slammed into a tree, but had managed to escape the jaws of your Malwile.

It felt so bad about the situation and just wanted to get out of there. It turned to get ready to climb the tree when your Pokeball popped him in the back and swallowed him whole. The poor Pokemon was too weak to escape the capture. You just caught yourself another ally.

August snarled and snapped his false jaws, rubbing his face, and Roberto looked smug, then curious as Elissa walked over to grab the pokeball. *You know that you don't have to catch every pokemon we find, right?* she asked.

Elissa stiffened a little, then glanced at him. Roberto was still figuring out what 'embarassed' was on her face, but the faint shift from her ears seemed to indicate it. "I just...you were attacking him anyway so..." She shrugged.

Roberto chuckled good-naturedly. Behind him, Shade was trying to creep away again. *Nothing wrong with opportunism. It's just that you don't have many pokeballs. If you use them all on common vermin, what'll you do when something more valuable appears?*

"Guess you're right," she mumbled, looking at the ball. "Should I let him go?"

Roberto snorted. *The pokeball's spent. That'd just waste it.*

Elissa smiled a bit. "I'll find a use for him." She tucked the pokeball away. "Shade!" The Poochyena froze mid-creep and turned his head to growl at her at the sound of the name she'd given him. "Can you Roar? Scare off the weaker ones?" The wolf practically lit up and inhaled deeply.

The roar seemed to come from the belly of the earth, and shook the trees. If that didn't clear the way, at least for a while, everyone would be a bit surprised. Once the ringing had let their ears, they were off again, and Shade walked with a bit more of a spring in his step this time; scaring things was fun.

0.3 :gexp2 (( No anger point. Based on how it happened there is no reason for the Aipom to be mad at you. He just happened to be at the wrong place and in the wrong situation at the wrong time. It dwelt more with fear. If you would like me to add an anger point I can, but I do not see a reason to. I made the edit in the previous post for the partial Exp. Sorry, it slipped my mind.))

Shade was not content with his name and having to live with an annoying Oddish. On top of all this he had to listen to a strange trainer whom he really did not know what to think of and a tree limb had just fallen on top of him. This was not a good day for him.

The Pokemon knew it was better to obey the order of his trainer then not to. This trainer was out of the ordinary and he did not know what to expect from her. To him it was best that he just did what was asked of him. However, it did please him that she chose him for this task. He took in a deep breath and let out a roar that echoed through the forest in front of you. The sound of creatures running away could be heard in front of you as well as flapping wings.

The path in front of you was quiet and empty. Occasionally you had to deal with a root or a fallen tree branch, but nothing too major. You soon began to notice the trees begin to thin out and the sunlight become more evident. These trees soon all vanished save for one, a very large oak tree.

Reached Ancient Oak.

Shade was still on a minor high from having gotten to scare things. He was scary! Intimidating! He inspired terror! The fact that he was metaphorically chained to a cat-like monster was, for the moment, far from his mind. At least until she stopped walking.

Roberto stopped behind Elissa, and slowly each beast in the group did as well. August's jaws lashed, Shade growled, and Veronica had a look of mild dread, because their fairy trainer was looking at a tree, and the oddish alone had been an unwilling participant in Elissa's daredevil climbing. As it was, however, she didn't look interested in scaling the giant oak. In fact, she seemed repelled by it, and took a step back, her long tail twitching.

"Not this way," came the flanging voice, using as few words as possible, as seemed to be the norm when she was anxious, which was often. Elissa changed her course to avoid the tree, and the girafarig behind her consulted a mental map of the area. Well, she was still headed toward a settlement, if an inferior one, so Roberto felt no need to argue the issue, but the fact that she radiated fear regarding a tree was a bit disturbing. Not as disturbing as her snap to a violent, primal force back in the city, but still a bit unnerving...

And now back to your regularly scheduled programming.

  • You reach the Great Fallen Log.
  • On your way through the area, you encounter an injured creature on the ground that has left behind, strangely, two blood trails. One leads off in a totally different direction. It has been attacked and left to die, which it very likely will soon.
  • If you choose to investigate the blood trails, you will find a strong creature on the other end of the second trail which can be fought and captured. If you choose to assist the wounded creature as well/instead, you will gain 2 :fp for rendering aid.
  • If you choose to ignore the wounded creature, you will gain 2 :ip but can continue on to Thick Forest 2.

Elissa's anxiety lessened as they left the massive tree behind, not noticing at all as Roberto darted briefly into her mind to search her thoughts. The problem was that, as superior as he was to many creatures, he was not a full psychic. He could not read the intentions of someone who did not know them themselves. All he received from the glance was what he already knew from her actions: that Elissa had suddenly been struck with a fear upon getting near the tree. That, and he nearly missed Veronica making another attempt to send sludge flying into Shade's face.

Elissa stopped once again as a different titan came into view, this one dead and lying on the ground. Where there had been aversion regarding the live tree, here there was fascination. Clawed hands ran over the bark and her tail swished left and right, her staring yellow eyes taking in the massive fallen long with what Roberto read as wide-eyed wonderment. She murmured something under her breath that the girafarig didn't quite catch, though Shade pricked his ears and made an noise of confusion.

Elissa made her way along the side of the log, the quartet of pokemon in tow, occasionally peering through holes in the wood. Veronica, struck by a bit of curiosity of her own, trotted more closely to her captor's heels than she usually did, and eventually the fairy's gaze flicked backward and she noticed. Without a word, Elissa suddenly scooped up the oddish, ignoring her cry of protest, and held her up to one of the holes, letting her look inside the log. Roberto made a noise of disgust in the back of his throat and his tail-head clattered.

As they went on, Roberto made a note of Shade sniffing the air. He found out a few moments later why when they went a bit farther and were all hit with the smell of blood. Fresh blood.

Laying in the grass ahead of them was a mangled pile of flesh and bone, blood coating its body and pooling on the ground. It had once been a creature Roberto did not recognize, a fact alone that perplexed him. It was small in the body and slender and delicate in the limbs, which were now broken and jutting out at odd angles, with hooves. Its coat seemed to have once been brown and white, but it was difficult to tell with the amount of blood.

Elissa's entire body went rigid at the sight and smell of it, quivering. Her eyes went wild, her barely-mobile ears pricked forward as far as they would go. Roberto realized immediately what was going through her mind: She was a predator who'd found food. She wasn't the only one, either; Shade was already making his way toward the corpse, and August's jaws snapped as he jerked after the dog, unwilling to let him be the first to it. However, it was Elissa who lunged into a four-legged stance and raced to the bloody creature, the fairy's face suddenly right in front of Shade's, glaring straight at every last tooth in his muzzle with the full intention of fighting him off.

Then the pokemon, previously presumed dead, flicked a nearly-torn-off ear and weakly turned its head. A gurgled noise escaped the near-dead creature, which immediately caused Elissa's head to snap up and turn to look at it.

That moment of distraction was all both Shade and August needed to make a move to grab some meat, but a flick of Roberto's telekinesis sent the mawile careening into the poochyena and caused them both to tumble across the grass. As expensive as food was, he was interested in this strange pokemon, and his psychic voice whispered into Elissa's mind. *That may be of more use to us alive. We heal quickly, remember?* True, these injuries would require serious medical attention, and there would be scars, but such a specimen was worth it in his mind. And if it turned out to be worth less than he thought, then they could simply get rid of it; many foolish humans would pay for a pokemon sight unseen.

The fairy did not reply, but he could already feel the predator calming, and in a blur of motion her clawed hand threw a pokeball at the broken pokemon. The small spark of life was not enough power to fight the mechanism, but the stasis would add much more time to that spark's existence. In the end, there was only blood left behind as they picked up their pace through the forest.

Blood and hunger.

Injured pokemon was a female Deerling. Elissa captured her to save her.
Elissa didn't investigate further or check out the blood trails.
