( Out of character note: Current Travel Path: Unclearable Fog Marsh 1 -> Mist Valley -> Sinklands 1 -> Soggy Hillside -> MayRiver Eventual Destination: Mayriver City) After making that final round of 'healing' back at the Malral Distract, Darucho supposed that he really should get moving on from the psychic town and all the sudden 'snowballing' of events that had barged into him there: he still needed to eventually try and get to the Corporcana mountain area to see if he could befriend that Swablu he was looking for that would be a wonderful and important addition to his team, after all, and he was still a long way off from being anywhere near those mountains. He supposed that he'd been so distracted by everything that had happened in the psychic town and helping others that - as per usual - he had forgotten all about what he was trying to do and achieve - but he didn't regret a thing, though both of the complicated 'situations' he'd been involved in could have easily been ignored by him completely and thus, he could have avoid being caught up in them. He couldn't just ignore people or Pokemon in need, even if it did land him in dire straights. He admitted that his kindness was his weakness at times - but he wouldn't have it any other way. If to aid others like he had come to this region to do was considered 'weak' - he still hoped he was the weakest person around. That aside, the current path he needed to take to the next city was going to be a tricky one - passing right through the fabled Murmur Valley. Apparently, no trainer 'liked' going through this place if they could help it - for the constant unclearable fog that shrouded this place made getting lost very easily. That and it was impossible to clear, even if you held the Holy Mechanism that could rid fog: it seemed to have an other-wordly 'vibe' about it that way. Darucho couldn't help wondering - had a Pokemon created all the fog in this area to protect itself...or something important. If there was something supernatural-seeming in an area, Darucho felt sure there had to be a reason behind it - but he just wanted to get to the nearest town. Though 'why' this place was always shrouded in fog that wouldn't go away did pique his curioisity - he really didn't want to spend too long here, as he was determined to reach Mayriver - his next 'stop' on his travels to the mountains where Swablu could be found. After all, he was still a rookie - not yet strong enough to make the whole journey to those mountains in one 'cear shot' without stopping to heal and rest occasionally. He was going to take things in his usual laid-back, relaxed pace - there was no real need to 'rush' over there, anyway. Besides - getting through this fog would take some time. However, he had a good idea as to how he could prevent getting too lost: and idea firmly in place, he clicked the button on one of his full Pokeballs, letting his psychic friend Layton the Natu out. The psychic bird blinked at the fog, before floating up to Darucho's shoulder, questioning him mentally, "Ah...so we are passing through Murmur Valley, then?" Darucho nodded, before saying: "Yeah...but this fog's gonna be an issue. Could you...do me a big favour and see if you can use your psychic powers to lock onto the next town and 'sense' which direction it's in? That way, I can follow your advice to get out of the fog without getting lost, and if I go the wrong way - you can tell me!" Layton hummed - in theory that wasn't a bad idea, though he wasn't sure how it'd play out in reality - it was better than getting lost here, so it was worth a try to see if what Darucho asked of him as a possibility. Focusing, Layton attempted to see hif he could 'lock onto' the next town's 'psychic signal' like Darucho was asking and thus, point him in the right direction... |

0.3 I can actually mod this because it's not a 5000-word novel! This length of post is good. Maybe even a little shorter. If you stick with that, and try and cut out every last bit of unnecessary stuff, you will likely find yourself modded more. Just a hint.Welcome to the Unclearable Fog Marsh, where your eyes automatically water and the air is hard to breathe. No matter how hard you try, this place was... choking, like it was trying to stifle the life out of everything that lived here. Only the creatures who could deal with mist were able to survive well here - usually Flying-types, to brush away paths in the mists, and Water-types, of which mist was a speciality. They thrived here. And they thrived well. Unfortunately, since the mist was so thick, you could barely see a foot in front of you, let alone what was on the ground. As such, when you eventually kept walking along, there was a little bit of a bump against your right foot. Actually, make that a big bump. Whatever you'd just whacked with your shin was indeed not a small object. It was soft, so it couldn't have been a rock... too small to be a person... It had to be a Pokémon. No psychic power could have prepared you for that. The jet of water shot into your face a moment later, and the accompanying cry, told you everything you needed to know about what just happened. "Buizel!" Yes, kids, it's a Buizel, and she isn't happy that a human just kneed her in the freakin' face. Would you be? The Buizel was angry, folding its arms-- hard to see as it was-- and readied itself for a fight a moment later, uncurling those same arms and hissing angrily much like a mongoose would. She was ready and prepared for a fight - and would take it right from you. You'd hurt her, and now you would pay. Better think fast! ![]() 18 54/54Ability: Swift Swim - angry All of your Pokémon in this battle will suffer -1 ACC. |

( Out of character note: = 0.3Current Travel Path: Unclearable Fog Marsh 1 -> Mist Valley -> Sinklands 1 -> Soggy Hillside -> MayRiver Eventual Destination: Mayriver City) Though the twirling and intertwining fog was not changed any by the addition of Layton the Natu on his shoulder - sitting firmly on it and being his 'eyes' to get through this - Darucho had faith in his Pokemon's abilities, had faith that his compainon could steer him in the right way despite how apparently 'annoying' this place was to get through: he had faith in the abilities of all his friends, 'magical' fog or not. However, despite Layton perching on his shoulder and using his psychic abilities to steer him towards the town, it seemed that the bird was so focused on locking onto this signal that Darucho had to focus on trying to see what was in front of him as best he could. This was not an easy task at all, not to mention that as a human - he was bad at it: he could barely even see his own feet in front of him, and so his walk forward was slow and cautious - the last thing he wanted was to step into a sink-hole or something or walk right into some poor, innocent Pokemon. Alas, fate was not in an agreeable mood today, it seemed, and that much was clear - for he'd only taken a few tentative steps before feeling something bump against his right knee, which made him jump. What was that? It hadn't been hard and spiky, so it was not a rock, he knew that much: it had been something soft, and with a sinking heart, the spiky-haired groaned - realizing that he'd probably just done the one thing he hadn't wanted to do at all: smacked right into a Pokemon, and he felt horrible, though he wasn't technically to fault: though the fog impeded his eyesight, he still felt like a jerk about it. Hurting Pokemon was wrong - he wanted to help others, not hurt them. Suddenly, a jet of water smacked him in the face, making him sputter - an angry sounding cry of a Buizel filling the air. Trying to focus his eyesight, he could barely see the blurried outline of a sea-otter Pokemon standoing there: and it was positvely fuming. Layton flapped his wings warily, saying, "Darucho...this Buizel is very irate. Sorting this peacefully might not be an option, though I can see you feel awful about the thing and meant nobody any harm." Darucho spoke then, saying to the Natu, "Yes, I know it might be impossible to sort this peacefully...but I feel horrible enough I just smacked into this Pokemon. I don't want to have to hurt it in a battle, too!" This said, he turned to the Buizel, bowing with the utmost of apologeticness and saying, " I'm very sorry...I'm not a native to this foggy area like you, so I can't see anything through this fog...I didn't mean to hurt you like that. I really don't want to fight you, because I feel rotten that I even smacked into you in the first place: here. I extend this to you to show how sorry I am...but if you still wanna be angry with me and fight despite this...I understand." This said, he took his last Watmel berry from his bag and extended it to the Buizel to show his peaceful intentions and his apologeticness: he was so sorry that he was willing to give up the last of those previous happiness-raising berries he had. However, Darucho wasn't sure if even this heart-felt apology would avoid a fight: if the Buizel stayed angry at him and attacked, which it had every right to - he'd send out a Pokemon. He didn't like having to fight ANY wild Pokemon: but if he had to do it to defend himself, he had to do it, simple as that. INFO: 54/54 hp Currently: Angry at Darucho. 0.3 ![]() The problem with human-Pokémon relationships was that things often got lost in translation. For example, many humans could not understand a single word any non-human creature said, which meant that these supposedly-lesser life forms could not communicate their wishes to those who would potentially enslave or befriend them. Pokémon, likewise, were not always raised around the human tongues and could not come to grasp them the same way that many tamed creatures could. These two situations, when combined, could create catastrophic disasters of the diplomatic variety. Then there was just a Water Gun in Darucho's face. This Buizel didn't understand a word that was being said. Yes, there was a Watmel Berry in hand and ready to go, but what good was that going to do on its own when it wasn't given with context? It could be poisoned, it could be for someone else. Not all bribery attempts worked, after all, and not all people were willing to listen to them. Or, in this case, Pokémon. It looked like the battle would, unfortunately, be on. The Buizel folded its little arms and swished its tail impatiently, as if asking very plainly: bring it on, and I will trash you so completely that you will run home with your head between your legs. The critter seemed confident, at least, and had probably just developed a complete distaste for humans. It would not be surprising if this was not the first time this happened out here. At least Layton could say he was right. ![]() 18 54/54Ability: Swift Swim Water Gun to Darucho's face |

( Out of character note: = 0.3Current Travel Path: Unclearable Fog Marsh 1 -> Mist Valley -> Sinklands 1 -> Soggy Hillside -> MayRiver Eventual Destination: Mayriver City) Though Darucho truly did not want to fight - to hurt the Pokemon that he'd accidently kicked any more than he had- unfortunately for him, it seemed that as apologetic and heart-felt his words were, the Buizel was not in any sort of mood to listen or understand anything he tried to say - another high-pressure jet of water being shot quite deliberatly in his direction: but the spiky-haired human had been ready for the Buizel to possibly try and attack him again, and ducked his head only just in time. The water sailed harmlessly overhead, but the human sighed and tucked his Watmel berry away with a look on his face as if he had just been attacked - most of his Pokemon were quite above this Buizel's level, and he truly hadn't wished for a violent end to this: but he truly seemed to have no choice here. Layton sighed and shook his head (or rather, his whole body in his case, since he had no noticeable 'head' to speak of), saying, " I had hoped my assumption of the matter would be wrong, but it seems my logical assumption was right - sorting this out peacefully is not an option, and the Buizel herself is making that clear enough." Indeed, Darucho could see well enough for himself the imapitent-seeming swishing of the Buizel's tail, and it folding it's arms - as if demanding the human bring the fight on. Darucho sighed again, saying mournfully: " I don't want to have to hurt Buizel...I feel rotten enough that I kneed it in the first place, and now it's practically asking me to harm it more? I'm sorry but...I can't do that. I came here to help people and Pokemon...not hurt them. Even if Buizel is demanding a fight...it wouldn't be right or fair for me to do more damage than I already have!" Layton closed his eyes, thoughtful a moment before opening them again, an idea in mind, he saying: "Actually...since some of us Pokemon that are owned by you are so high-level, there is one last option for settling this without having to 'harm' Buizel more...remember that move Mia learnt recently? It could be indeed - a great help here." Darucho realized what Layton was implying, and smiled broadly - if Layton's idea worked, then he wouldn't be forced to fight the Buizel and hurt it more at all! That thought in mind, he nodded to Layton, saying, " Great idea, Layton...I mean, if there's any way at all I can sort this mess out without having to hurt Buizel more, I'll take it...this water-type doesn't deserve to be hurt physically any more than she has been, after all..." His personal opinon on the matter spoken, he flicked a pokeball forwards - his starter, the glittering shiny Mia Pidgeotto appearing in a flurry of light and sparkles. The Pidgeotto regarded the Buizel and the situation and gave Darucho a look that clearly said - 'How is luck deciding to screw us over this time?' Darucho sighed, saying, " I accidently kneed this Buizel because I couldn't see where I was going in the fog, and though I apologized to it and tried to sort things peacefully, it won't accept an apology...but I don't want to have to hurt it more! Use Whirlwind: that way, I don't have to physically harm the water-type more. She doesn't deserve to be harmed any more...so if we can finish this without physically hurting her or using offensive moves at alll...that'd be great!" Mia nodded - she knew how much Darucho hated to 'harm' another when he'd come here to aid others: and the fact of the matter was, she was of a high level - it would not be fair for her to fight this Buizel, as Darucho himself said: the the kindest and fairest way to sort this out would be to try and blow the Buizel away. Hopefully, she would be a high enough leve above the Buizel for Whirlwind to work - but if it missed, she'd just keep using it until it worked: because she had no intentions of fighting a foe when the battle wouldn't be 'fair', herself. (INFO:) ![]() 'Mia' the PidgeottoLevel 23 0.5/1.5 exp 69/69 hp Attempting: Whirlwind to blow Buizel away and so end the battle 'fairly' like both she and Darucho want. 0.2 ![]() The Buizel was flexing her arms, getting ready to lay down some hurt on this uppity human - she was at the top of her game, yesiree. Even when the human sent out a Pidgeotto it didn't phase her. Birds? Hah! Give her a real challenge why don't ya? She swung back a fist, ready to lay into Mia, take a step or two back on tiptoes as she... starting floating into the air? Buizels were fast - scarily fast - but Mia was just a tiny bit faster. And that little bit of time was all she needed to get a whirlwind whipped up to full strength, a funnel of marsh water spiralling up into the air and snatching Buizel into its vortex as it swung past, before whirling off like a spinning top into the mists, depositing the Buizel goodness-knows-where. It would be running into you again anytime soon, that was for sure. You were now free to continue without interruption, into the valley proper. -------------- Landmark Reached: Mist Valley |
