Continued from here. A display of strength, and they all scurried off. Typical. Roberto clicked his tail jaws in faint disgust, though he was rather relieved that he would not have to either fight or flee a ravenous horde. Elissa seemed to relax once they reached the forest proper. She showed no aggrivation from the gravel under her bare feet, and he could only imagine that it was due to the thick pads he had seen on them. Her wings were relaxed against her back, but her long tail twitched, and her eyes darted toward any movement or sound. He'd entertained a small thought that she'd react with awe and veneration toward the trees, as per the stereotype associated with calling oneself a fairy. Instead, she seemed to just see them as another thing for unseen enemies to hide behind, her calmness caused only be the lack of an omnipresent malice in the air. The pokeball was still clasped, very firmly, in her hand, and he could not figure out how she thought about it. Roberto was not often baffled, but he was not a pure psychic, and sometimes it was difficult to know the mind of someone who did not know it themselves. It made Elissa all the more of a curious creature. He did, however, realise what she was about to do a moment before she did it. Telekinetic energy was ready to ensnare the oddish after it appeared and before it could start spewing acid. He held it body completely still, and brought it to his new pet abberation's eye level with a swift jerk. *Whatever you're going to do, do it.* It took Elissa a moment to recover from this sight. That moment allowed the oddish to finally see her assailant for the first time. All she had seen was the yellow creature who had stepped on her (and his black-furred grinning idiot of a friend, who she had yet to find out was merely another half of the yellow pokemon) and the pokeball had come out of nowhere. Now she knew why. The supposed trainer of the pokemon who had ruined her day, and possibly life, was like nothing she had ever seen, and its ashen skin and jet black fur would have blended right into her toxic home, a home she was clearly no longer in. The monster in front of her was expressionless, with two bright yellow eyes simply staring, unblinking, at the plant at its mercy. Wings came into view, shifting until they stuck out to the sides and tremblings to make a distinct buzzing sound. They were like a bug's; this thing was bug. She, a simple oddish of the Xugbar Swamp, was going to meet her death by being devoured by a monster bug. The paralyzing force locking her body was likely the only reason she did not soil herself in terror, even as it lurched slightly and heard a faint, cruel snicker behind her. The monster raised a hand--a three-fingered hand--and reached toward her. She cringed and squeezed her eyes shut, only to open them again when she felt an unfamiliar, but not painful, sensation on her leaves. The monster bug had just patted her on the head. "Veronica." The word was spoken in a buzzy, high-pitched way that was clearly insectoid. She just blinked. The monster bug pointed at itself, and she saw a little mouth appear. "Elissa." She was suddenly spun around, to properly see the two-toned pokemon who had attacked her and realize he was one creature. *Roberto.* His own voice resonated with smug amusement, and she wanted very much to spit acid in his eyes. On both heads. Roberto found the entire exchange hilarious. Of all the reactions, the vermin being terrified of being eaten was not one he had expected. He turned the oddish back to Elissa once he'd gotten his laugh from the glare he was getting, and waited eagerly to see what she would do next. As it was, the fairy looked at him and cocked her head to one side. "Put her down?" It had enough of the tone of a request, rather than an order, that he decided to indulge her. The weed landed with a thump on the ground, and he trotted off with Elissa scurrying behind him, though the winged being had one eye on the newly-named Veronica. The oddish sat there for a moment, putting her mind back together, and looked in the direction Elissa and Roberto were walking away from. It would be safe to assume that her home was back there. She could just run right now and return to the swamp. Oh wait, she thought as she remembered the intangible grip she'd just been in, no she couldn't. With a sigh and a defiant scowl, she turned and followed the two. If she was a slave, she'd rather walk than be tossed around by some psycho's mind. Roberto let out another snicker. 0.3 ![]() Upon the rocky ground, things were certainly strange. There was a definite fear of the little flying bug thing, even if it wasn't trying to kill her at this point in time. Which... well, that was definitely a good thing. Nobody wanted to be killed. And if it was being reasonable here, then it could certainly... uh, not kill her in future? That train of thought didn't make sense at all. She was a little confused now, actually, which made the poor Oddish feel a little awkward. For Veronica's mental disarmament, she gains one .That was, however, the moment something else decided to rear its head. Having sniffed around this area much, the little grey and black creature knew this terrain well, even going so far as to mark its territory. This creature knew everything that happened in its small patch of turf, and the other Pokémon humoured its territorial claims if only because it was such a hilariously pathetic sight. Now, something was entering that territory and it was a very new scent. Three scents, actually, one of which did not smell anything like a Pokémon or a human... Whatever it was, the little creature wanted these intruders gone. Suddenly, from behind a boulder, a Poochyena leapt out and landed in front of Elissa and her two-critter entourage. Its barks and growls, all of which sounded particularly pointed and angry, were all very clear in their message: get the hell off my turf or I'm taking you all down one by one. It was actually almost cute, because the little Poochyena wasn't all that terrifying. It just looked small and yappy. Poor thing. ![]() 6 12/12Ability: Run Away - growling and snarling and things |

0.3 ![]() Before then, Roberto wouldn't have thought that Elissa could scream. But there it was, a pain-inducing sound that was like two creatures shrieking in tinny unison. Veronica saw Elissa as an insect, but he prefered to see the feline in her, and that part was no more prevalent than when her long tail puffed out like a feather duster and she nothing sort of threw herself at one of the ancient trees, the retractable claws on her hands sinking into the bark as her feet, lacking the same instruments, beat against the wood in some kind of clumsy attempt to propell herself into the branches. That display finally put to rest any thought that Elissa was a natural tree-dweller. Then again, a creature with her anatomy didn't really seem naturally anything. As his pet fairy indulged her screaming terror, he focused on the source. The canine made him scrunch up his face in disgust, completely unthreatened. By Arceus, was all they would find in these wilderness vermin the world was better off without? Dark types were just plain affronts to nature, and not in the fascinating way Elissa was. He couldn't just rip through its mind like he did Veronica, either; instead, he lowered his head and growled in way that made him seem to vibrate with fury and promise of pain. Speaking of the plant, though she was bewildered by Elissa's reaction to the poochyena, she did not take that opportunity to run. Frankly, the dark dog was pissing her off, and despite the fact that it was anger that had gotten her into her current situation, she let all her rage and frustration bubble to surface and collect it into a single thought: Shut this idiot up. That thought took form of a spray of acid toward his face. Roberto, deciding to take advantage of Veronica's blind fury, prepared to melt into the shadows and startle the poochyena, making him an easier target. Until she got used to this whole 'team' thing, he'd have to adapt around her actions and not vice-versa. Neither pokemon seemed to notice that Elissa had abandoned her flailing and shouting, having slipped from the tree to a crouch on the ground, gripping a pokeball. The fairy was, if anything, a fast learner. Current Landmark: Rocky Ground 2

0.3 I am so sorry I did not get to this earlier, even if it's not a storyline ._.The Poochyena came across the team's intent to attack when the Girafarig began growling right on back at the puppy. Okay, so they wanted to go? He could go! He'd go all day if they wanted to! Sure, a fight! And so on and so forth, because the Poochyena was not capable of all too much real logical thought just yet. The creature was willing to go into battle, but how well would it do? Not quite well enough to take out Roberto with a bite to his ankle, but it was a close thing. The Girafarig was able to stand-- barely-- but could still fight on, even with Veronica splashing acid in the puppy's face for him. The next barrage ensured that, scared and hopeless, the Poochyena was left victim to Elissa's cruel spherical prison. With acid leaking off his face and a terrified look etched on his features, the dark dog was absorbed by light. Three shakes and a ding later, it wasn't coming out free any time soon. Man, so much for protecting his territory... it couldn't even resist one buzzing creature's evil ways. You have caught: ![]() 6 2/12Ability: Run Away x2Roberto: 1/15

0.3 ![]() Roberto leaned against one of the trees, lifting his injured leg and panting. He cursed the dark dog, teeth gritted and glaring at the pokeball laying on the ground. Still, that could have gone far worse. He tilted his head slightly as Elissa scurried over to his side, wide eyes staring at him in what seemed like concern, which matched the emotions radiating from her. Roberto, admittedly, had no idea how to deal with worry from a trainer. His master had always responded with a shrug and either a spray of a potion or a recall. Elissa, however, clearly didn't understand yet that this was how things went. He stared at her in silence for a moment, then carefully laid his head on her shoulder where she was crouched next to him. He almost hated to educate her in this. *Don't worry. It's not as bad as it looks. I'll be fine once we get to the city.* Veronica came down from her fury with a few extra sputters of acidic saliva. She shook her leaves and glared at the place where the poochyena had stood. Hey, she'd actually won that time. That felt...good. She looked around, and noticed the pair by the tree. She shook her leaves again and blinked at them. Roberto was hurt, then? Good, the jerk deserved to have a chunk taken out of him. Maybe that'd deflate his massive ego a bit. Elissa, though, seemed so worried, and that confused Veronica a little. True, the big bug hadn't eaten her, but she had enslaved her, and yet she felt just a little twinge of sympathy. The oddish jumped when Elissa looked her way. "Veronica? Are you hurt?" The poison type blinked a couple of times and cautiously waddled over. She winced as the creature reached out to gently smooth out her leaves, staring with those big yellow eyes. *She's fine,* the girafarig huffed, and the two pokemon shared a glare. His pokeball quite casually removed itself from Elissa's bag (earning a small squeak from the fairy) and he let it hover beside him. He pointed off in the distance with his snout. *If you keep going that way, you'll pass by a pond and reach the city. I'll just slow you down, but you can let me out if you need me.* Roberto hated to give up his freedom, but he really would slow them down, and he had no doubt that Elissa would call on him the moment something frightened or confused her. He vanished into a flash of light and Elissa scrambled to grab the ball. In that moment, she felt profoundly alone. She lightly brushed the sphere against the side of her face affectionately before placing it in her pack, and then wandered over to grab the ball containing the canine. Veronica watched her for a moment, then looked back in the direction they had come. She didn't notice Elissa eyeing one of the ancient trees, or carving a small notch in the bark of one of them with a claw. Roberto was gone, which meant he couldn't make her follow them anymore. She could run, leave this bug monster with her new dog and go home. That was when she was suddenly swept up by a thin arm and found herself on Elissa's shoulder as the creature raced at a tree and leaped. Her foot found purchase on the notch she formed, and she hurled herself from there to a thick branch. Lacking hands, Veronica tumbled off her shoulder and latched onto her fluffy tail with her mouth to avoid hitting the ground. There she dangled as Elissa arranged herself on the large tree branch, crouched down like some kind of cat, wings buzzing. She glanced back once, moving her tail slightly, then jumped again, aiming for the branch of another tree. Veronica squeezed her eyes shut and clamped down hard on her furry lifeline in the form of that long tail. Could her day get worse? 0.3 ![]() No, but it could definitely stand for some improving. Perhaps, some improvement in disposition of Pokémon towards their trainer - both Veronica and Roberto gain one for the fact that Elissa is not an absolutely colossal failure towards them. And, y'know, being nice and caring certainly helps in that department. The rest of the journey was quiet. Not much wanted to disturb Elissa and her not-entirely-merry band of Pokémon, after a multitude of battles and victories. Things seemed to be going well, to most extents. After all, when there weren't wild things jumping out and trying to kill you, it was definitely a plus in this part of the world. Things out here tended to be violent. Soon enough, the shimmering surface of the Deepwood pond could be seen, and its refreshing waters served as a reminder that civilisation was not all that far away. A little more travelling, and Elissa would be in Deepwood. Reached: Deepwood Pond |

0.3 ![]() Hooray for not being an absolutely colossal failure. Not that Elissa realized what she was doing right. Elissa landed a bit awkwardly on the ground near the lake, and Veronica wasted no time letting go of the fairy's fluffy tail. Elissa completely ignored the oddish spitting out tufts of hair behind her as she crept toward the lake and knelt down at its edge. She peered at her own reflection for a few moments, studying the near-featureless face, wide ears, and staring eyes in front of her, and then scooped up some water in her hands to drink. She gulped the water greedily, wings buzzing softly in joy; she hadn't realized how parched she was until now. Veronica blinked at the creature drinking from the lake, and carefully toddled over to take a few sips from the surface of the water. She watched Elissa out of the corner of her eye the entire time; this was a strange, pokemon-enslaving bug monster, after all, even if she seemed to genuinely not want to eat Veronica. From the battle with the dog, and her own capture previous, she knew Elissa could snap from merciless enslaver to compassionate master in an instant; she wanted some warning if the insectoid was going to turn on her. As it was, Elissa simply got to her feet, brushed off her near-nonexistant clothing, wiped from water from her mouth with her hand, and looked off in the distance. Veronica kept watching. Hadn't Roberto said that they were going to a city? Veronica never been in a city before. Maybe Elissa hadn't been in one either, judging by the way she seemed to shift her weight uneasily without moving. Or maybe she was just worrying about the fact that it was getting dark. Suddenly, Veronica saw the end of Elissa's tail waving in her face. The strange trainer-creature was watching her over her shoulder with that same impossible-to-read stare. Veronica didn't particularly want to subject her mouth to more fur, but the fact that the tail was being offered probably meant that Elissa was going to do something crazy, and being so far from home now meant that there wasn't much in the way of options here. At least Veronica was getting a warning this time. She clamped down and Elissa took off at a run, falling to all-fours after a couple of strides. She was no rapidash, but the lithe monster was at full sprint, determined to get to civilization rather than spend the night in the woods. Fear of the unknown was dissolved by the fact that there was apparently healing and safety there, and Elissa already trusted Roberto's word and judgement with her life. Veronica was just trying to not get motion sick. Current Landmark: Deepwood Pond Planned Route: Deepwood Pond -> Deepwood |

0.3 ![]() It has finally occurred to the universe how weird this must look. While Elissa and Veronica were doing their strangely Slowbro-esque arrangement as a Shellder and a Slowpoke do, the rest of the world around them was watching with... interest. Or possibly a little bit of revulsion. And most of them were asking the same three questions: What the hell is that thing? Why is there an Oddish eating its tail? Is this some kind of freaky nightmare? Indeed, it was fear of the unknown that kept everything at bay now. There was nothing like that as far as they knew around these days, so they'd have to adjust accordingly. Whatever was going on, it was highly weird and Elissa's luck was going to hold out just a little bit longer as she ran to town. No matter what happened now, it'd all be within the safe confines of Deepwood. The crystalline-clear lake behind them, the gates of the town were open and the multitudinous opportunities of the future opening along with them. Reached: Deepwood |
