Richard stood surrounded by the massive crowds here in the Pokemon Stadium. The uproar coming from all those people at once was huge, it was a big noisy place. He and a number of other trainers were grouped together, getting ready to get split up to begin the tournament. He had his three companions here, Mudkip, Ziggy, and Seedot. Those three were just as excited to be on T.V. as their trainer. Ah, Richard hoped his parents were watching. This would really show them!

Here he was supposed to be battling the pros, which was a bit intimidating. They were famous for pokemon training... how was Richard supposed to be able to compete with that? He hoped that he'd at least make it past the first round... otherwise there would be no point in him being here.

He waited there in the crowd of competing trainers for a staff member to tell him where he was supposed to go. He was ready to his battle on!

The noise as you stepped out was deafening - the prospect of meeting their favourite pro trainers had drawn thousands of people to the stadium. Once you had taken your position at one end of the field, the announcer's voice boomed over the loudspeakers.

"Ladies and Gentlemen! Next up to challenge the pros is a newcomer to the competitive battling scene. Hailing from Little Hillmoss Town, give it up for Richard Davis!"

The crowd let out an encouraging cheer, and applauded.

"And introducing his first opponent. He's on a hot streak, winning his last Pro Circuit tournament. All the way from Felcrest, let's hear it for Mark Young!"

Across from you, complete with neon green spiked hair, stood a man in his early twenties, who waved to the crowd when they erupted into wild cheers. As per Little Cup rules, Mark was tasked to release his pokémon first, so he duly obliged. He nodded respectfully towards you, then called out his pokémon.

"Lucky! Sheldon! Let's go!"

Flicking two pokéballs into the arena, they both burst, revealing a Poochyena and a Clamperl. They took up position on their half of the arena, and prepared themselves for battle.

The referee situated at the side of the field relayed instructions as to how the battle should progress next. "The challenger may now choose his two pokémon for this round, and may also call out the first commands."

Richard was a bit surprised when all those people cheered for him. A smile came across his face as they announced his name, and he waved around to the uncountable amount of people. Had all of them really come to see this tournament? Dang. These things must be quiet the moneymakers for whoever owns Pokemon Stadium. He was curious as to who he would be battling against. This was after-all going to be his first battle against another trainer ever... and it was going to be broadcast to the possible millions who were watching.

The redhead looked at the green haired man. He received a nod from the grass-head, and Richard nodded back politely. He didn't seem to be too cocky about his pro status just yet, maybe it was because he figured he was going to win anyway. Humph! Over Richard's dead body!

The rookie trainer watched carefully as the pro called out his two pokemon. Interesting choices, but now it was his turn. He thought about it carefully for a moment, and picked two pokeballs off of his belt. He tossed them into the air and released the two pokemon he was going to battle with.

"Mudkip! Seedot! We got some work to do!" he said as his pokemon pair appeared on the scene. Richard hoped that his newest partner Seedot would be able to battle. He'd be a great advantage in this match.

"Mudkip my girl, Use Mudslap on the dog. Seedot hit that Clam with your Nature Power! Go... Now!" Richard commanded his pokemon. He felt confident about this match now that he saw the pro's pokemon. Now he wanted to see what this pro's battling tactic would be.

Mark Young was most certainly a quiet man. Judging by his appearance, he must have thought his actions speak louder than his words. This proved truthful when he merely nodded to his Pokémon when they looked to him for guidance.

The pair of of Pokémon that opposed Richard and his team stood their ground, even as the Seedot and Mudkip attacked them. Seedot fired a barrage of stars towards Sheldon the Clamperl who merely closed his shell tightly and raised his defense with his signature Iron Defense.

The Poochyena howled a battle cry at the absent moon, readying for his own attack while Mudkip kicked up a clump of dirt with her tail and then sprayed a water gun at it. This caused the mud ball to smack into the Poochyena's side. The mud splattered everywhere, and even landed on the Poochyena's face, irritating his eyes.

Richard watched the Pro that was opposite on the field to him. This trainer didn't even verbally tell his pokemon what they should do, they just did it. That was crazy. Did he train his pokemon so well that he trusted their decision making in battle? Yes, that had to be it. Rich hadn't worked with his pokemon that much, yet he felt that his pair would do okay.

His attention then turned to the opposing pokemon, they didn't even get on the offensive yet. This was an interesting tactic, maybe Rich should try it out sometime. The clam closed it's shell and boosted it's own defense, while the pup howled out to a moon that was not present at the moment. Then his pokemon moved in for the attack, Poochyena getting nailed by the Mudslap. Richard hoped that it hit him in the eyes, he wanted to hurt the pup's accuracy. Next Seedot attacked the clam, but with not much effectiveness... it had closed it's shell making it harder to damage. Smart Clam.

"Good job guys, but we ain't done quite yet," The redhead told his pokemon with a smile. The crowd began to cheer loudly as the battle was now underway. However it was unclear if they were cheering for him or for Mark. Richard would like to think it was him.

"Mudkip hit the pup with Mudslap again! Seedot use your Harden!" Rich ordered. He hoped that he'd be able to damage that pup's chance of actually hitting one of his pokemon. The Poochyena seemed like it'd do a whole lot more damage, when compared to it's partner.

"How many assholes we got on this ship anyhow?"
.3 Oh boy...this is going to take awhile. You can use combos.

The mudkip who would one day be known as Bubbles, hurled a wad of mud into the howling wolf's face. It was a lucky shot, the mud fish being just a hair faster than the dog. The poochyena twisted about in the air, shaking a spray of mud off with a ragged flip of his ashen mane.Teeth bared he snapped at the water type, snaring her by the fins and biting down with all her strength. Clamperl took advantage of the speedy mudfish being hampered by the dog, and clamped down on her tail with a mighty vice grip! Mudkip/Bubble squeaked in startled surprise.

And Seedot, well seedot sat there, ignored, and beefed up his defenses.

"This battle is really heating up now!" Rang the announcer. "What do the challengers have in mind next?"

The green haired man just smiled pleasantly, he was really getting into things now. Next round he'd start dishing out the pain.

Richard had a pained look on his face, Mudkip was really getting hit now. She did manage to get that dog's Accuracy down though, so there was some light at the end of the tunnel. Clamperl was now clamped down on Mudkip's tail.... not good! This battle wasn't going in his starter's favor. However, Seedot was still in the fight... and what Rich believes is is Secret Weapon.

The redheaded trainer glared at the green haired man on the other end of the battlefield. He was just toying around right now, playing games!?! Rich didn't like the look on his face, or this guy period. It was time to really start heating this battle up!

"Okay Mudkip, you got to get serious now. Let's start to really finish these guys off. Use a pair of Hydro Pumps on the Poochyena. Seedot go in two Nature Powers on Clamperl. If we don't end it soon, he'll plow right through us!" Richard told his team. It seemed that this green haired pro was playing just getting ready to eliminate Richard by stat boosting.

Blinded by the magic.

The quiet and demure Mark Young held his dignified aura even in the thick of battle, and this had a strange, calming effect on his Pokemon even with your declaration to pull out all stops. There was no surviving two moves of incredible power if he didn't retaliate with an ingenious move of his own, and this was almost do or die. Would your hotheadedness prevail against one that seemed to be too cool-headed for being victorious, or would you fall into a trap of his own?

In any natural situation, your Mudkip took the advantage of speed and fired a blast of Hydro Pump at the Poochyena... only to miss the attack by a significant amount. Did the pressure faced by the Mudkip force it to make a mistake that might cost it victory? The Poochyena attempted to return the favor by unleashing a Crunch on his own, but the Accuracy-lowering moves paid off, and the attack missed its mark by bare inches. Fate must be testing you, right there...

As usual, the Clamperl remained tough to break through and simply pushed its defense up another two notches with Iron Defense. The Seedot's first Nature Power managed to squeeze a scratch on the Clamperl, but its attack power, as Swift, was completely lost on the steel-like Clamperl. In contrast, Clamperl had more headway with Clamping on the Seedot instead.

The Mudkip's face-off with the Poochyena was coming to a close, as the water-type took its speed advantage once again and charged a water cannon of such high intensity that the Poochyena couldn't escape. There was no way the Poochyena could escape a death blow twice, yet something nudged at the back of your mind: there was a reason why high-power, low-accuracy moves were dissuaded right from the start-

The Sucker Punch was silent, stealthy, and it took the bulk of Poochyena's mind-reading and accuracy to fire that preemptive strike right in your Mudkip's face. The enormous power collapsed itself, as the Hydro Pump merely disintegrated into a flood of water the moment Mudkip lost the strength to command that last strike. Leaving your offenses to the last was predictable, and predictability was what the silent little trainer liked. The Poochyena had bet his chances on the attack, and he had emerged victorious for overcoming the opponent's consistent all-out defense with move priority. It didn't help that every single move of yours dealt direct damage to your opponents, too...

But there was still Seedot, who could pull a win if you had a way of cracking Clamperl's high defenses and cranking Poochyena's dismal accuracy. Would fate screw you over twice?
