Hannah's Team

Hannah tapped her feet impatiently as she waited for the tournament to begin. She, unlike some of the other competitors did not feel any fear or nervousness because of this match. To Hannah, this was like a normal Pokemon battle but slightly more bigger.

Hannah sighed. Waiting was simply a bother! Melody who was floating right next to her also sighed, "Hannah, there is no need to be impatient. Occupy yourself by taking a look at the other competitors. Perhaps you might find some of them familiar,"

Hannah moaned but did what she had been suggested to do. She scanned the wide number of competitors and found some of her VP team-mates. She could just spot Jared and Mr Xatu Guy in the sea of faces. The majority were those she did not find familiar. Once that was accomplished, a loud voice could be heard and then soon, everyone had to go over somewhere to get something.

Hannah had to push herself among the crowd to guarantee herself a nice number. It took some effort but she managed to shove herself over to the desired place. Melody sighed, somewhat in shame and amusement. "Hush, no need to comment," Hannah whispered over to her companion sharply.

Melody shrugged, not really caring that she was scolded. "Oh look, someone's there," Melody whispered over to Hannah as she spotted someone in the distance.

Hannah put on her widest smile before making her way over toward the person. It was somewhat creepy but the person wasn't really all that stunned. She was given a flashy card before being sent out. She saw someone else pass her to also get their card. "What's on the card then?" Melody asked her trainer.

Hannah flipped over the card and found a '3' on the card. "They're doing this one by one then?" Hannah raised an eyebrow at Melody.

Melody shrugged, "Perhaps,"

"Number three," a voice could be heard in the distance.

"It's our turn! Melody, return. We're going to need the element on surprise on our hands," Hannah said as she returned her young Pokemon into her small ball.

As Hannah stepped out of the tunnel, she had a wide smile on her face. She whispered over to her Pokemon located in their Pokeballs, "Come on guys. Let's do our best,"

The noise as you stepped out was deafening - the prospect of meeting their favourite pro trainers had drawn thousands of people to the stadium. Once you had taken your position at one end of the field, the announcer's voice boomed over the loudspeakers.

"Ladies and Gentlemen! Next up to challenge the pros is a newcomer to the competitive battling scene. Hailing from Little Hillmoss Town, give it up for Hannah Bingham!"

The crowd let out an encouraging cheer, and applauded.

"And introducing her first opponent. A former national finalist, all the way from Moorfeldt, let's hear it for Steve Jacobs!"

Across from you, stood a shaven-headed man in his late twenties, who waved to the crowd when they erupted into wild cheers. As per Little Cup rules, Steve was tasked to release his pokémon first, so he duly obliged. He nodded respectfully towards you, then called out his pokémon.

"Nibbler! Zapper! Let's go!"

Flicking two pokéballs into the arena, they both burst, revealing a Gible and an Electrike. They took up position on their half of the arena, and prepared themselves for battle.

The referee situated at the side of the field relayed instructions as to how the battle should progress next. "The challenger may now choose her two pokémon for this round, and may also call out the first commands."

Loud cheers greeted Hannah when she stepped out. She didn't expect any less for she knew she was about to face someone rather popular. As she arrived to one specific part of the large clearing, the announcer introduced her over to the audience. Hannah felt proud as the crowd applauded for her. She smiled over to them politely before waiting for another piece of speech from the announcer.

"And introducing her first opponent. A former national finalist, all the way from Moorfeldt, let's hear it for Steve Jacobs!"

There was yet another loud cheer, this one much more louder than the one Hannah had received. She smirked, wondering whether all that would change when he'd lose this match. A voice could be heard from Steve, "Nibbler! Zapper! Let's go!"

Two streams of white light gushed out of two red and white spheres which slowly revealed a small dragon with a shark's fin and and a small green dog with a yellow nose, tail and ears. Her Pokedex chimed, "Gible the Land Shark Pokemon. It attacks using its huge mouth. While its attacks are powerful, it hurts itself out of clumsiness, too. Electrike the Lightning Pokemon. Using electricity stored in its fur, it stimulates its muscles to heighten its reaction speed,"

Hannah nodded. In short one was quite speedy and the other one was strong. Thankfully, the young dragon was clumsy or so said the Pokedex. Hannah's brain got to thinking. Since Electrike was a speedy little fellow, she would need a Pokemon even MORE faster than the green electric type. She snapped her fingers. Melody could help. And then Neko could also help with her 'Attract' and 'Sing'.

"Melody, Neko, let's have some fun~" Hannah grinned as two twins of white light flashed.

A moment later, her Misdreavus and Skitty appeared, grins also etched on their faces. She immediately got to ordering the attacks, "Neko, you should Sing Gible to sleep and then Faint Attack him. Melody, Psybeam Electrike twice. Make sure you send out your strongest attack, guys. Oh, and remember to dodge all moves if you can,"

Steve put his hand behind his shaved head and laughed out loud. "Don't think I'm going to go easy on you just 'cos you're young and got cute Pokémon." He said in an accented voice. The dialect was something you understood to have cultivated from a city of some sort. "Your pipsqueaks are no match for my Nibbler and Zapper! Alright you guys, do your stuff!"

At this, the battlefield erupted into a frenzy of action, sort of. Your Pokédex was correct in that Zapper was a speedster, for it was off like a shot with its Quick Attack. It glanced off Neko who was thrown backwards a bit, but righted itself to perform its lullaby. The tune carried across the field, but Nibbler was too involved in using Dragon Rage on Melody to notice. The sing song was a failed attempt.

Melody followed her trainer's instructions then by zapping zapper with a few of her Psybeam attacks.

"C'mon Zapper! Pull it together! Use Quick Attack again!" The pup's eyebrows furrowed once more as he focused on using his lightning fast quick attack. Suddenly though, his eyes softened once more. His target was suddenly the most beautiful thing he had ever laid eyes on. He couldn't possibly attack such a creature, it seemed that Neko's Cute Charm had taken affect.

Hannah sent a deathly glare over to Steve as he made a sly remark over at her Pokemon. "Well, Mr. I'm-too-good-for-everyone for your information, one vital thing that I've learnt so far in my journey is to never underestimate your opponent's Pokemon and it's time you learned that too,"

She exhaled out some air, trying to calm herself before observing the battle. She saw her opponent's Electrike perform the first move by tackling Neko with a Quick Attack. She didn't care so much since Quick Attack didn't inflict much damage. The battle raged on and Hannah watched the Pokemon perform their moves.

She was disappointed when Neko's Sing attack had failed and when Melody was thrown back by Gible's Dragon Rage. But there were times when Hannah felt excited such as when Melody focused out two beams of Psychic energy over at Zapper or when Hannah found Electrike making goo-goo eyes at Neko.

"All right, listen up," Hannah called for her two Pokemon's attention, "Neko, first things first, sing Nibbler to sleep. Then Melody, you should Psybeam him twice and make sure you concentrate really, really hard for the best results,"

Melody nodded over to Hannah while Neko waited for further commands, "While Melody does that, Neko, I want you to tackle Electrike really, really hard until he falls unconscious,"

Neko mewed in agreement and they both set off to make their trainer proud. Hannah smiled, "Okay, ready, get set, GO!"

0.3 :gexp2 Don't forget to give Blake his GenExp too!

Steve is in a bad position, and he knew it.

Even so, he would not give Hannah the satisfaction of the disadvantage that he's in now. Disabling that Skitty would be crucial if he would ever have a shot at victory. "C'mon Zapper, snap out of it and Thunder Wave that Skitty!" Unfortunately for him, the green dog was still infatuated with the cute kitty that was Neko. He didn't want to hurt her at all. His hesitation allowed the Skitty to work her magic, putting the Gible to sleep.

Melody took her chance to send two Psybeams at the Gible, taking a huge chunk of health away. Now that Zapper was his only fighting Pokemon left, Steve decided to take a gamble. "Zapper, light up the field with your Discharge!" This time, the infatuation didn't take hold, and the Electrike began charging up for a gigantic electric attack.

Encouraged by your words, Neko charged forwards in an attempt to stop the attack before it went off. Normally, such an attack would mean an automatic victory for you, but who's to say that it may take out your Pokemon in the process? Furthermore, such an attack would have no effect on the sleeping Gible. And let's not forget the side effects of Discharge...

Unfortunately for you, Zapper was faster than your Neko. Before she got even half-way there, the Electrike unleashed his powerful attack. Electricity shot off in all directions. Everybody present would be at danger if not for a protective barrier that surrounded the stadium and the trainers. "Worry not, everybody! We have prepared for such an occasion!", said the announcer. Quite handy.

When the field cleared off, it was clear as to who had the upper hand. Zapper had been tackled by Neko, and taken out of the battle. Steve silently recalled him, but with a satisfied smile on his face. Taking a close look at your Pokemon would reveal that not only were they hit very badly, but paralyzed to boot! Seems like his gamble did pay off, even if it did not give the best results.

.3 Going to edit my post. >.< Sorry~

Hannah cheered as Melody sent two multicoloured beams of of psychic energy crashing into the land shark Pokemon who winced in pain. She knew that the small dragon type was suffering a lot of damage which made her chances of winning higher. But then, disaster struck as Zapper's googoo eyes vanished, to be replaced with excited, wide eyes. "Zapper, light up the field with your Discharge!" Steven's voice could be heard among the crowd's loud cheers.

Melody braced for impact while Neko rushed over to the green dog, hoping to stop things. But several bolts of sizzling hot electricity began exploding from the small dog's body. And then there was smoke. As the crowd ooh'ed and ah'ed at this thick fog, Hannah began getting angry. She needed to see whether her Pokemon was all right or not.

As the smoke settled down, Hannah began narrowing her eyes to see and smiled as she saw Neko tackling Electrike to the wall. When all of it was gone, Electrike was outcold. But all the other Pokemon were fairly weak. Both Neko and Melody had bolts of electricity coming out of their body. Hannah gritted her teeth and then looked at Steven who had a smirk on his face. Hannah cursed under her breath, "Darn,"

Melody and Neko glanced a weak look at Hannah, desperate for more battle moves. Hannah tried to sound encouraging, "Don't worry guys, I know of a nice strategy to get rid of that paralysis of yours," Hannah muttered under her breath, hoping that would win, "Neko, you need to use that Heal Bell of yours. Hopefully, paralysis won't prevent you from doing that move. And then, Melody send another Psybeam over at the Gible. Neko, if Melody doesn't manage to perform that move, Faint Attack him. And if Neko fails that, Melody, you should Psybeam the Gible,"

"How many assholes we got on this ship anyhow?"

Things looked pretty bleak for both contenders. Both of Hannah's pokemon, while still in the fight were twitching and fighting for control over their own muscles. Steve Jacobs was down to one, and that one was sleeping like a baby, all curled up in the sand.

"Come on, Nibbler!" Urged the trainer. "Wake up and give it one more go!"

The announcer added to the tense atmosphere by rattling off his own thoughts, "Which way will the battle turn? Our challenger appears to have the upper hand but can our Pro pull an ace from his sleeve?"

Try as he might, Steve could not rouse Nibbler from his slumber. With obvious dismay he was forced to watch as Melody shrugged off the paralysis just enough to strike. Waves of psychic energy blasted into the mind of the young dragon, just enough for him to awaken briefly before passing into a deeper sleep.

Steve hung his head, and frowning, turned away. When he looked up again he was smiling stiffly. "Good match." He nodded and began walking away.

"That's it folks! Miss Hannah Bingham has won her first match. Let give both contenders a hand of applause for a fine battle!" The crowd erupted in cheers and the announcer continued. "May both challengers please leave the field for a brief rest before the next match."

When Melody released a beam of colourful, psychic energy over at the sleeping dragon, Hannah knew that victory was hers. When a chorus of cheers could be heard, she merely smirked as she took a look at the so-called 'pro'. He was hanging his head in shame which was exactly what he wanted to do. That serves him right for underestimating her dynamic duo. "Melody, Neko, return!" Hannah smiled as she held two balls up to suck both her Pokemon in.

"Good match," were the final words of Steve before he walked off the stage.

"Ditto," Hannah replied, proud of her Pokemon, herself and the way that they had battled together.

"That's it folks! Miss Hannah Bingham has won her first match. Let's give both contenders a hand of applause for a fine battle!" the announcer said while the crowd erupted in more cheers, "May both challengers please leave the field for a brief rest before the next match."

Hannah waved at the crowd before walking away, adrenaline pumping inside of her. The feeling of victory was sweet. And she longed for more. As she handed her three Pokeballs to Nurse Joy, she got to thinking. How would she handle the next 'pro'?

~*~

After some waiting, Hannah's name was called upon once again and she hurried onto stage. She realized that a few people in the crowd were actually cheering for her. She gave the crowd one last wave before walking up onto the challenger's box. She had a determined smile on her face. She was going to make it all the way~!

Ambition was nice. But ambition without aim was a little risky. No matter how frivolous the opponents seemed to be, they were only to be stronger.

In any case, the fame seemed to be a pretty efficient confidence boost for you, though the opponent strolling in seemed to have an even bigger fanbase than you did. If composure were any indication of experience with fame, your new opponent seemed to be a whole lot more used to the Little Cup than you were. In fact, the official didn't seem to like the way you were garnering the attention of your sparse supporters, though of course you were entitled your right. Pffft, those jealous unpaid and unappreciated stern workers.

'After a, uh, charismatic display of charm by Hannah Bingham, one of the few competitors to have broken the first barrier with ease, we find ourselves right back at the stadium, where the second rounds of the Little Cup is about to begin! As we know, Hannah Bingham here has claimed a convincing victory over Steve Jacobs in the last round! But who will her next competitor be? Ah, there she comes-'

The lady had a more humble display of manners than you did, bowing to you, to the official, then to the crowd. And if cheering were any indication of popularity, she was clearly more respected and well-received than you were. Well, one step at a time.

'Ms. Bingham's opponent today will be Lady Amane Yurosake, who is well-known both for her demure display and intellectual wit! Well, will we witness another graceful display of her rare and well-trained Pokemon today, in this very arena?'

Yurosake simply bowed politely at the introduction; she had no intention to indulge in superficial bigotry. You might be in luck if she was just another rich lass that had more money than common sense or brains, but from the response of the crowd you could tell that she was no ordinary member of the aristocracy.

'Nice to meet you, Ms. Bingham. Please give me your guidance.'

A Houndour and a Slowpoke emerged from the field, stretching and waiting for you to summon your Pokemon. It didn't seem that her Slowpoke was any dim creature, though you'll know once you enter the field.

'When you're ready, Ms. Bingham.'

And Hannah's next opponent was some lady who seemed to be very popular among the crowd. And she hated that. She wanted the crowd to herself and the only away she could was by defeating three pros. And now the polite, well mannered lady in front of her was blocking the way. She and her 'rare and well-tamed Pokemon' that is. >_>

But anyway, her opponent bowed politely over at Hannah. Hannah returned the gesture, afraid that if she didn't, the crowd would start hating her. Anyway, now the girl in front of her was releasing out two of her Pokemon. Hannah's mouth was left agape when she saw a Slowpoke and a Houndour. Part of her mind seemed to want to mock her opponent's Pokemon. But other parts of her mind were beginning to panic. The two Pokemon Amane had sent out were a threat to her team. And that Slowpoke of hers.... It actually looked smart!

While panicking, Hannah tried to stay her cool self on the outside. She decided to fling two random Pokeballs out and hoped luck was on her side, "Let's go guys!"

As the white light flowed out, she realized familiar shapes starting to form. And that's when she realized who she had sent out; Melody and Neko. They were both ready to fight for their victory. Hannah took a few moments to realize that her ghost was the fastest out of all four Pokemon on the field. "Melody, I want you to Astonish Slowpoke! And Neko, I want you to Sing Houndour to sleep. Afterward, I want you to use Pain Split, Melody. And Neko, if you didn't manage to sing Houndour to sleep, try again. But your attack did work the first time, then Faint Attack Slowpoke!"

Urgh, this was going to be much more harder than defeating Steve.

Where Hannah let fate decide which pokémon would appear on the Little Cup Stadium grounds, High Summoner Amane Yurosake was far more calculative. Her eyes glittered when her opponent's pokémon flashed into view.

"And this battle is under way!" the announcer boomed. "Contestant Hannah Bingham has released a Skitty and a Misdreavus to represent her this round!" The crowd roared like thunder, though whether they were shouting for Yurosake, or Bingham, or one of the other hundred contestants fighting simultaneously it remained to be determined. What was clear was the force of the enthusiasm and the adrenaline as it coursed through the Pokémon League Stadium.

Instinct told the High Summoner to eliminate the Skitty. Her Houndour agreed. "Koro," the amateur trainer pronounced. "Go." And as Neko opened her mouth to prepare a specially chosen lullaby for the enemy dog, she must have felt teeth like daggers digging into her throat. Houndour had rushed his opponent and chomped down relentlessly. He held the cat in his jaws and shook her violently.

"Yikes! We have our first skirmish: Houndour uses CRUNCH on his natural enemy Skitty. But look here - Misdreavus seems to be ASTONISHING Yurosake's Slowpoke!" The ghost had fluttered towards the lazy psychic pokémon and begun spinning her eyes. All at once the ghost opened her mouth and started shouting obscenities at the startled Uro, the slowpoke's own white eyes widened in comical surprise as the ghost thrashed towards her. "It's super effective!"

"Uro!" Lady Amane reprimanded. "Concentrate." It was hard for the announcer to know exactly what happened next: the Slowpoke closed her eyes, then opened them suddenly, but when she did they were like glowing orbs of white light. They flashed at the Misdreavus like a camera before fading back to normal. "Aha! The announcer shouted. "Slowpoke used DISABLE! Misdreavus won't be performing that move again any time soon!"

Houndour was still holding Skitty in its clutches. Suddenly purple toxins were pouring out of the canine's mouth in a thick smog; the poisons drifted over Neko and into her open wounds. The dog pokémon dropped her only to hear her resume her song, but he bounded back towards his trainer. The sound of raucous applause filled the ears of all competitors.

Misdreavus' pain split served nothing save to tickle the Houndour's senses.

There was only a second's worth of hesitation before Skitty gave up on trying to sing her opponents to sleep. Instead she charged towards the Slowpoke with impressive valor and sucker punched the pink lug for all she was worth. Unfazed, Slowpoke stared at her little opponent, opened her mouth, and yawned.

"What a match!" the announcer was shouting. "Slowpoke is hit with FAINT ATTACK, but Bingham's Skitty isn't looking good! I think she's poisoned!" The crowd gasped, and a purple status symbol for "poisoned" flashed over Neko's face on the jumbotron. Meanwhile her eyes were drooping; her neck was still bleeding; she looked almost ready to collapse.

"Scores are posted on the TVs, folks! It's anyone's game at this point, but Bingham's got a tough battle ahead of her if she wants to stay in the running!" The camera angles shifted from Hannah to Yurosake, to flash shots of all four pokémon. They were all weary and sweating, ready to finish this match.

.4 Awesome!

Hannah chewed on her lips nervously as things for her began going oh-so-ever wrong. Hannah had miscalculated. She had thought that maybe that Houndour would be handling her Misdreavus but she was wrong. Now Neko was in serious trouble! She had been severely damaged by that dog and there was even blood. Hannah felt anger surge through her. That pooch had gone too far.

She took a deep breath. But first, she had to get rid of the Poisoned status. She may have been yawned at but being asleep wouldn't affect her health points at all. So now..... "Neko, Heal Bell NOW!" Hannah commanded as Neko jingled her tail.

Hannah looked at the rest of the battle field. What would she do to Slowpoke and Houndour? Slowpoke wasn't really so much of a threat now since her health had gone down dangerously low. But that Houndour.... It was Dark Type and Dark moves were something Melody could NOT take. "Melody, attack Slowpoke with a Psybeam this time and then after that, Growl at Houndour. Neko, if you can, then please Attract him,"

This was a dangerous situation and beads of sweat were already dripping down Hannah's body. But hopefully, it would be okay.

There was just one word which wrapped this battle nicely.
Disaster!

Things had gotten from worse to WORST. Hannah had known that ever since that Houndour appeared, things were going to be tough. And they were definitely were. The pooch's HP was full and he suffered no status effects unlike her Skitty which was close to fainting AND asleep. Hannah really wanted Neko to wake up and avenge Melody's rather dramatic sacrifice. Actually, she wanted to win this whose thing! She wanted those grand prizes ever so badly! But there he was, that Houndour blocking his path. Hannah had to do something quick!

"Neko, Neko, wake up! Come on, you need to win this whole thing for Melody. She's already fainted thanks to that stupid pooch in front of you. Come on, don't you want to win? Stand up and give him all you got! Fake Out, Sing!" Hannah screamed, practically begging for her to awaken.

….But chances were she wasn't going to and Lady Amane would win this whole thing. And if she did, damn her. But if Neko did wake up, then things might just go good for Hannah. As Hannah returned Melody to her ball, she wished under her breath.... Hopefully, things would go just right~

(Note: lol, I am not angry even though I sound like I am. I'm just trying to jot down Hannah's feelings so don't think bad of me. :P)

When Fate turned her auspistices to a battlefield, things tended to go chaotically. Choices of Pokémon moves, attack orders... everything seemed like they were all very much out of balance. Here, however, it was the total opposite. Everything seemed to flow with an ordered structure, which made reading the tides of battle easy for an expert. Sure, once or twice a move that was so totally out there could happen, but here? Things were a little more predictable.

For example, someone freshly put to sleep wasn't going to wake up any time soon. This was Koro's chance to act, or so he presumed. An echoing Howl across the skies roared up, the Houndour undoing the minor curse that had once been put on it so that it could deliver the final blow to a sleeping opponent. After all, it had to be an effective kill. If the Skitty was still asleep, then Koro could lunge his teeth through the fur and flesh of his opponent and bring victory.

As the Houndour charged forward, one eye flickered open. Neko had... miraculously... awoken. Neko suddenly saw the figure running towards her, the bony canine of fur midnight. That particular little problem jolted Neko awake enough to follow the one command of her trainer's that she'd heard: Fake Out. That was a great technique, one that made sense to use. Stop the attack before it happened. Unfortunately... there was just one little catch. Fake Out needed to be used right at the start, where the fake actually worked. Neko found that her technique, as Koro ran at her, failed completely.

The fangs landed around her neck and, finally, crunched down upon that skin and fur he'd so longed to taste. Neko fell to the ground, defeated.

"Winner - Lady Amane!"

THE FINAL DUEL!
