Darucho ran the long winding string of the lanyard currently around his neck around his fingers in a slightly nervous manner hed had a curious look in quite a few tournaments of Pokemon before, but despite such experience: he still felt nervous as heck whenever he was headed to a big event such as this, still felt his heart skip a beat in the sheer excitement of it all: the Little cup was a famous event which was created back home in his home region, Jhoto to give younger Pokemon a chance of fame and experience in battling, and to test the bond that trainers could make with child-like Pokemon, and the skill of passing on moves to said children to give them a edge of sorts.

Indeed, it was a tournament that stood for many things and was usually the first step rookie trainers made when they felt they wanted to make a move into the official cup scenes. A test of bonds and of battle smarts. But, much like the last few times hed decided to enter tournaments or important things he wasnt here for the prizes, or for the supposed glory that would come if he and his companions got far. No, hed come here for the reason that you could safely enter even the youngest pokemon in this tournament to get a feel for battles without having to worry about them.

It would be a good way for his young friends to learn about battling, so that if they ever had no choice but to fight in the future, they would know how to best defend themselves and those close to them. It would be a good way for the young ones who were unsure to gain confidence. An awesome idea, overall. However, the addition of these numbers on lanyardsDarucho privately had to wonder what the point was. He just searched for his name and picture when the screen lit up, directing everyone to the stadium that they were assigned toso wouldnt everyone else do that and not bother with the numbers? Oh well, perhaps it was just an extra thing for security.

He wouldnt blame the cup officials for being high on alert, though, what with what had happened at the party where the Elite four had come back and alleven thinking about those unknown birds sent a shiver down his spine. Lucky the awesome elites had been there to clear the attack up so quicklybut then again, Darucho supposed now was not the time to think of such things- rather, he should be focused on the match that was to come. He knew not who he would face first, but as long as his pokemon tried their besthed be happy with them no matter what.

After all, the reason hed come here was so they could enjoy themselves and maybe learn something, not for his sake. Thoughts placed to the side, Darucho spotted many a familiar face as he headed to the stadium he was meant to go to there was the leader of the team he was currently doing his best to try and help when they needed it, Lynx. Shame the crowd was so thick, otherwise he would have been able to wave to her and perhaps wish her luckbut oh well. There were some strange faces as well was that a guy in a dragon costume? Gosh, that was the best-looking costume HED ever seen the figure wearing it really DID look like a mystical creature form another planet!

(Of course, Darucho had no idea that it WASNT actually a costume.) Reaching the stadium, he had three Pokemon out with him: the first was the stone-faced and overly serious-looking Gregory the Zigzagoon, who looked at the battlefield silently as if just hoping the other person would show up already and he could go back in his ball. The sound of all those noisy humans gave him a bit of a headache. As if to contrast this, Kay the Poochyena couldnt BE more excited, the mute Poochyenas tail seeming to wag so fast it was a blur, the puppy-like Pokemon incredibly happy at seeing so many people.

They all looked really nice and she hoped shed be able to put up a match that would make the other humans happy. The third Pokemon was sitting on Daruchos spiky haired-head, a silent feathered sentinel with observant, gleaming black eyes Lana the Spearow. Darucho spoke to them then, saying, Well, here we arein the first assigned battle of the Little Cup. You threedo the best you can, but dont forget to have fun, too, okay? This said, Darucho began fiddling with his lanyard again silently due to the sheer tension that seemed to fill the air as he waited for the opponent that was to face him

(0.3 :gexp . Enjoy your cookie cutter mod to get you started.)

The noise as you stepped out was deafening - the prospect of meeting their favourite pro trainers had drawn thousands of people to the stadium. Once you had taken your position at one end of the field, the announcer's voice boomed over the loudspeakers.

"Ladies and Gentlemen! Next up to challenge the pros is a trainer you may recognise - a finalist in the second Grand Mele. Hailing from Olivine City, Johto, give it up for Darucho Trio!"

The crowd let out an encouraging cheer, and applauded.

"And introducing his first opponent. One of Opaddeka's most well-known faces, with a career spanning a generation. All the way from Tromamte, let's hear it for Reginald Butler!"

Across from you, clad in a stylish suit, stood a smiling elderly man, who waved to the crowd when they erupted into wild cheers. As per Little Cup rules, Reginald was tasked to release his pokmon first, so he duly obliged. He nodded respectfully towards you, then called out his pokmon.

"Shooter! Queenie! Let's go!"

Flicking two pokballs into the arena, they both burst, revealing a Wurmple and a Phanpy. They took up position on their half of the arena, and prepared themselves for battle.

The referee situated at the side of the field relayed instructions as to how the battle should progress next. "The challenger may now choose his two pokmon for this round, and may also call out the first commands."

:gexp = 0.3 (Out of character note: Cookie cutter mod or not, I appreciate the attention to detail and overall length of it. ^^)

The fact that the sheer volume of noise when he stepped out onto the field had been just as deafening as any other time hed walked out into the field of other tournaments really hit the fact that the Little Cup was just as much a serious battle as any other home, and Darucho felt his heart almost skip a beat from this fact: the pressure was on him to do well, just as it was any other competitor: he didnt want to go to the Vanishing Point with his head hanging down and having lost the very first match in this, after all, even if he hadnt come here for his own sake.

He also wanted his Pokemon to do well because he didnt think they might take losing the very first match in this tournament too well, eitherthe last thing he wanted was for them to feel disappointed that they hadnt given something like this their all, after all. Gee, why did everything have to be so serious? Oh welleven if the pressure was definitely on in this first match, hed make sure that he and his Pokemon remembered to keep positive and have fun no matter what. Even if he lostif he had fun and strove his utmost, hed still do his Pokemon and the Vanishing Point proud, right? Right!

Optimistic thoughts aside, as he and his Pokemon took their position, the loudspeakers suddenly blared out the voice of the announcer it first introducing him. Darucho was quite surprised the announcer knew that hed been a finalist in the second Grand Melee, and even more taken aback when they correctly named what town he came form howd they known that? Were they psychic or something? Then again, they could have just read the trainer records, where hed had to write what his home-town and region was, too

The fact the crowd encouragingly cheered and applauded him made the modest trainer turn quite red, looking at his feet a moment he was never any good at receiving accolades, and reallythe people didnt have to applaud a person who was still pretty much a rookie like him. It was very humbling to notice they applauded anyway, though. The announcer soon moved on from him (thankfully enough) Darucho lifting his head back up in interest apparently, hed be facing a very well-known face in this region, all the way from Tromante: a trainer by the name of Reginald Butler.

Reginald, huh? Not being a local to the region, Darucho had no idea who this person was but he was obviously a experienced trainer and well-known here, judging from the wild cheers that emitted from the crowd when Reginald was introduced: and the other trainer seemed one whod been friends with Pokemon a fair while, he being an elderly man who reminded Darucho of one of the venerable gentlemen hed often seen going to the Olivine City docks. When the man nodded respectfully to him, Darucho couldnt help smiling and nodding respectfully back, even if he was the opponent.

He seemed a really nice fellow, this Reginaldmaybe hed get the chance to talk with him after the battle with a cup of coffee or something? It was kind of ironic that a rookie like him was facing a very experienced-seeming trainer, though - like a reflection of the fact anyone could be a trainer, whether a rookie or not. Thoughts aside, the venerable-looking Reginald was quick to send out his two Pokemon, named Shooter and Queenie. Shooter was a Pokemon that brought a fond smile to Daruchos face: for it was a Wurmple. He wished Apollo his Dustox had been allowed to stay out and see thisthe moth would have really liked to see his pre-evolution being used by an experienced trainer.

The other Pokemon Queenie was familiar as well, but not because hed once owned it it was because Queenie was a Pokemon well-known back in Jhoto Queenie was a Phanpy, a cute but tough-looking Ground type. The two Pokemon were quick to take their positions, ready to fight: but Reginald didnt give them any commands, oddly enough. However, the referee soon explained this, saying that Darucho chose his two Pokemon for this round, and attacked first. Darucho nodded at hearing this, before humming in thought who to ask to step up first?

Greogrys Normal-type moves would likely do little against Queenie, sothe best Pokemon to use against her would be Kay, he gesturing to the pup to go on the field upon realizing this. As for his second buddy, hed ask Lana to battle the Spearow would make a good team-mate for Kay, he was sure, even if her flying-type moves would do nothing against the Phanpy.

Thus, he gestured for the Spearow to go on the field also, Kay and the bird heading to their own positions. Turning to Kay first, he said, Lets try and see if we can put a dent on that tough-looking Phanpys defensego for a Crunch and Assurance combo, okay? Assurance was a good move and if you managed to cause damage before using it, it became even more of a reliable, solid move - - in the fact that if the foe had already taken damage that turn, its power would double, which would hopefully do something against such a defensive-looking Pokemon as the Phanpy.

As for Lana since Kay was focusing on the Phanpy, the logical choice seemed to be for the Spearow to focus on the Wurmple and because the worms poision-type moves would be a real threat if not nipped in the bud, Darucho knew he had to try to take the bug out as quickly as he could. Thus, he said to Lana, Try to see if you can take Shooter out before his Posion-type moves become a real threat to you or Kay Peck him! If one Peck isnt enough, or if you miss the first attempt use another one. We cant underestimate either Shooter or Queenietheyre both Pokemon of a really experienced-looking trainer, after all. His commands had been given now all Darucho had to do was hope that his advice to his Pokemon had been helpful.

Reginald had nothing to say to his pokemon, and simply gave a good-natured chuckle as Shooter glared daggers at Darucho. Between being called 'him' and having it implied she couldn't take a hit made the bug's blood boil. She wriggled over to Queenie, who was pawing the ground in anticipation of the fight, and grabbed her ear to whisper into it. The two pokemon nodded to eachother and got into battle stances.

Lana, by far the fasest pokemon on the battlefield, swooped down to give Shooter a solid peck. Far from knocked out, the bug simply seemed ticked off and gave a strange hissing noise at the bird's retreating back. Queenie stepped in front of Shooter and growled warningly at Lana, putting some hesitation into the bird.

Kay raced in for her attack as Lana circled back to peck Shooter again. Queenie squealed as Kay's teeth sank into her side, but the little elephant had a thick hide and a high pain threshold, and shoved the attacker back. Shooter squirmed away from the jabbing beak and squeaked indignantly at Queenie, who trumpeted back, making the pair look something like a pair of squabbling siblings.

That was when all hell broke loose. The pokemon of Reginald's team suddenly turned on eachother's attacker, Queenie curling up and rolling toward Lana as Shooter nothing short of lunged at Kay. The mute poochyena threw her head back in a silent howl of pain as the wurmple latched onto her shoulder with her needle-like manibles. People tended to forget that bug types had the advantage over dark types, and Shooter's Bug Bite attack was devastating. Queenie's leaping Rollout less so, but Lana had to scramble to regain her altitude as the rolling phanpy crashed past her and kept on going.

Kay knocked her tiny assaulter off and leapt to tear into Queenie's fresh wounds, but the Phanpy just took the attack, turned on a dime to dislodge the dark dog, and rolled back toward her flying target, who was suddenly much less air-worthy when a stream of sticky String Shot from Shooter's mouth coated her feathers. The catepillar watched in satisfaction as Lana tried to compensate for her new handicap; she'd be much less speedy now.

Though Darucho had been quick to give his companions advice, it seemed that the venerable Reginald was one of those people who preferred to let their Pokemon take the reins completely rather than verbally give out attacks, not a single word coming from the older, more experience-looking trainers mouth though he did chuckle in a amused, gentlemanly fashion when his Wurmple began glaring daggers at Darucho, the spiky-haired trainer quite confused by the sudden amount of hatred the bug seemed to have in his direction.. Shooter was a boys name, so it was only natural to guess the bug was a boy, right? Then again, judging from the reaction of the bug-type, hed obviously been wrong.

Gee, why did nicknames make it so hard to successfully guess a Pokemons gender at times? He didnt know. It didnt seem like that was the only reason the bug seemed pissed towards him, thoughhad his confidence in his friends struck a nerve, there? The spiky-haired trainer really didnt want to make anyone angry he was just here to give his friends a good experience, not strike nerves. Holding up his hands apologetically, he said to the bug in a truly sorry tone, UhmShooter sounds like a guys name, so Im sorry I got that fact wrong. If I seemed a bit too confident in my friends, Im sorry about that, tooI just dont want them to think Im really nervous, is all. I really didnt mean it in a bad way.

Gregory the Zigzagoon rolled his eyes at the human saying all this why was he apologizing to a silly little bug, for crying out loud? He guessed that was part of the humans laid-back, easy going manner the fact that Darucho really didnt like or want people or Pokemon, for that matter angry at him. He didnt doubt that this event would make Darucho a bit more careful about being so enthusiastic and supportive of his friends, eitherjust WHY the silly human cared so much about what OTHER people and Pokemon thought was beyond him.

That aside, the Zigzagoons ears flicked forward, the raccoon eying the two Pokemon suspiciously as the Wurmple slowly crawled over to the Phanpy, grabbing one of the blue Pokemons ears and whispering something he didnt like that, no sir. No doubt they were up to no goodbut whatever their suspicious whispering had been about, it would have to wait, Lana cutting through the air like a speedy jet and pecking the Wurmple hard, giving her no time to try to dodge. However, though Darucho had been confident of the type-matchup, it seemed that type matchup alone was not going to mean his friends did well: the Wurmple was still unfainted.

She just sounded more ticked-off now, the bug making an irritated hiss and her team-mate stepping in to growl threateningly at the birds retreating form, the bird hesitating just a moment before continuing her circle back but the attack had done what the elephant wanted, and Lanas physical attacks would do a bit less damage than usual now. As the bird circled around to try and Peck the bug again, Kay lunged at the elephant to make her attack, the pup giving the elephant an apologetic look before snapping her jaws firmly into the Ground-type: the move doing a decent amount of damage despite the elephants high defenses.

As Kay was shoved away by the Phanpy, Lana lunged in for another aerial assault but she hadnt been quite fast enough to land a successful hit this time, the worm squirming back and avoiding the furious lunging of the avians beak, crying in an irritable, indignant-sounding tone to the Phanpy as she did so, the elephant trumpeting back: the two seemed to be having a bit of an argument, it seemed. However, this was very quickly proven to not be the case and the cries signifying an all-out assault, the two Pokemon suddenly lunging in their own way to the opposite pokemon whom had attacked them.

The Wurmple was the first to strike and though Darucho had hoped that the opponets Pokemon wouldnt know any egg Moves, sadly, it seemed he had failed to take into the fact that Reginalds Pokemion were 100% guaranteed TO have said Egg moves he was a experienced trainer after all and thus, the bug bit into Kays shoulder, the pup throwing her head back in a silent cry of pain at the super-effective attack. Thankfully, Queenies move didnt do as much damage it being a Rollout, and it still being in the early stages but if the move didnt miss or wasnt stopped, Darucho knew it would spell pretty much, an instant KO if its strength was allowed to grow.

Kay seemed to know this just as much as he did, flinging the Wurmple off her and tearing at the Phanpys flesh again but the move wasnt enough to stop the rolling elephant, it flinging Kay off before staring to roll back towards Lana, whom soon had something else other than the impending elephant to worry about when the Wurmple spat string at her, the sticky substance coating the avians feathers and slowing her down. Darucho swore he saw a smug little smirk from the Wurmple, thenbut he couldnt worry about that now.

The spiky-haired trainer knew the most important thing here was trying to stop that Phanpys Rollout before it became really powerful but Kay was really injured at this point, even though her moves did neutral damage to the elephant. Then again, she wasnt slowed down Lana was. That, and the elephant was too focused an rolling at the Spearow to worry about the Poochyena right now so if he just kept the faith, he was sure Kay could do fine. This in mind, he said to the pup, Go for a Crunch and Assurance on Queenie again try and stop that Rollout before you get fainted, okay? I know it must really hurt to go on right nowbut I trust you to be able to do the best you can no matter what, Kay!

This said, he then turned to Lana, saying, That String Shots probably gonna slow you down a bitbut Peck Shooter and try to take her out before she KOs Kay, okay? Itd be really bad if Kay faints so soonso do your best to make sure that doesnt happen! This said, all Darucho could do now was continue hoping optimistically like he always did whether the Wurmple forgave him for his accidental angering of her or not.

Reginald seemed to simply watch his pokmon do the battling on their own speed. Whether this was a wise choice or not, his pair still knew what they were doing. However, poor Shooter just hadn't been able to reduce Lana's speed enough and the spearow dived in to deliever a final peck.

With only a soft sight the gentleman recalled the bug and spoke softly to the dual colored sphere. His gaze flicked momentarily to Queenie who was spinning in place gaining power. Her target this time however was Kay. She sped over the sandy arena floor and plowed right through the poor canine finishing her off with ease.

Queenie wheeled around and took up her place before Reginald. She continued to spin rapidly in place her attack growing even stronger. It was now a one on one match but Queenie's rollout was at a dangerous level. One hit would pulverize the lone spearow. Her low health would be the only advantage in this battle.

Reginald seemed pleased with the results, the smallest of smiles breaking over his thin lips. Queenie always came through for him.

Again, Darucho noticed that he had been quick to give his friends and companions the support and advice he felt would aid them best in this quickly tensioning situation and the more experienced trainer that was Reginald remained as silent as he had last turn, not a single word escaping the older mans lips the man remaining a almost distanced, silent observer of what was going on. Though Darucho knew this sort of strategy would make it harder for the opponents to see and thus try to counter what moves you were about to use, he wasnt one to use it unless he had to, for really dangerous missions where him talking would put his friends in mortal peril.

After allhe wanted to be able to reassure his Pokemon that no matter what happened, hed be there to back them up with his words of optimistic hope in them and that hed be there to give them all sorts of advice whenever they needed it: even if this meant that it became easier to expect moves from him and his companions because of that fact he was so verbally supporting them. He respected this Reginald, despite knowing little about them but he was really bad at just standing there and remaining silent regarding his Pokemon friends, himself, while Reginald seemed to be very good at that. Another ironic case of opposites pit against each-other, Darucho supposed that was.

Thoughts put to the side so he could focus more on the details and little things that were happening out here, it seemed that the Pros Pokemon had decided what to do, seeming to tense in their current positions (well, it SEEMED that way, though Darucho couldnt honestly be sure, especially with the constantly-whirling Queenie at this point) - but before either one of them could even start moving, Lanas serious, coal-black eyes snapped to Shooter the Wurmple, the avian flapping like a russet arrow for the bug, even with all the sticky glue-like string stuck to her wings despite the bugs best attempts to slow the avian down, a single String Shot had seemingly not been enough to effect a Pokemon of such a speedy nature as Lana.

The avians sharp pink beak was jammed into the bugs soft flesh like a lethal ninjas finishing knife blow silent, precise, and affective. Two of the same attack was quite obviously not necessary in this situation, and the serious-mannered Lanna bowed her head a moment to her fallen adversary as if to praise it for a valiant fight before respectfully flying back and letting the bugs trainer recall his Pokemon.

The gentleman than spoke for the first time AT ALL since the whole battle, whispering something that nobody could hear once the bug had been safely recalled, and despite the tense scenario, Darucho smiled at his opponent. Though he didnt state it through commands and support in-battle, it was obvious the man cared just in a rather quiet, sort of kept to only him and his Pokemon way. The mans eyes then flickered to his still-spinning Phanpy, Kay crouching in place and ready to lung at the elephant while it tried to roll for Lanabut that was not what happened, surprisingly.

Though Darucho had been sure Rollout was a fixed move in that it basically forced the Pokemon using it once it had selected a target to keep attacking that same target until in this case, the move their wore off or misses apparently, a Pokemon could change targets with Rollout, the Ground-type suddenly spinning right for the dark-type puppy the sudden unexpected target change taking the Pokemon by surprise: the spinning pokemon slamming hard into Kay and rendering her fainted on the battlefield ground, the poor Pokemon not even getting the chance to even try and defend herself with Crunch.

Darucho lowered his head sadly as the still-spinning Phanpy wheeled back to its trainer, the Rollout growing stronger and more dangerousbut that was the least of his concerns right now. Recalling Kay, he spoke to the pokeball, saying, Im sorry you didnt get to use one last attack on Queenie, Kaybut Im really proud of you for holding out as long as you did. You deserve a nice, long rest. This said, as he placed the Poochyenas orb back onto his belt so the fainted Pokemon could rest, he swore he saw the faintest of smiles on Reginalds face at how things had turned out

It was indeed, a tight spot for Darucho. One hit from the lethal rock-type move Rollout would be enough to finish Lana off in one blow at this point: and Reginald likely knew this as well as he did. Not to mention the birds attack strength and speed had been lowered by one pointbut despite the odds being seemingly piled against him, Darucho still had that optimistic smile. The Phanpy had less health than Lana did and Lana had managed to move before the Phanpy to KO Shooter, just a few moments agoif he trusted the bird and kept faith with her, he was sure the avian could move before the Phanpy again to Ko it before it koed her.

Yes, he knew most sensible people would either go on the defensive or ask their Pokemon to try and avoid the move outrightbut he wasnt going to be cowardly, when the battle was quite obviously reaching its climax. If he and Lana were to losehe knew the honorable Spearow would want to go down all guns blazing' to go down trying their best and striving to the utmost. To lose in such a wayit might even make the Vanishing Point a little prouder of him, for not being cowardly, perhaps. He didnt know. But he was going to give this obvious last shot his best it was only fair to do that to a opponent he respected such as the gentlemanly-seeming Reginald, after all.

Darucho pumped a fist energetically, saying to the other trainer, I wish you and Queenie all the luck this turnthis is going to decide this match, I feel it. I hope youre getting as excited as me, mister! Despite the odds against him, Darucho remained strong and cheerful in spiritand he felt like, even if he lost herehe would have learnt something important today, and not feel ashamed for losing in the first round not against such an honorable man as this, anyway. He then turned to Lana, the only commands he saying being, Go give Queenie the strongest move you can, as fast as you can twice, if you have to, okay?

The Spearow nodded curtly, before turning to the ever-whirling elephant, eyeing it seriously the most potent attack she had against this Pokemon was Assurance (Fury Attack probably wouldnt do anything here) so shed go with that as hard and as fast as she could. If she was to lose, so be itbut shed rather go out all guns blazing than being all defensive. That aside, as she prepared the dark attack, would she be able to connect a hit in time? Darucho didnt know but he had faith, and would remain strong, no matter what happened now.

Lana the :fl Spearow
Ability: Keen Eye
Level 10
Hp: 21/30
Stat changes: Attack and Speed have been lowered by one point.
Attempting: Assurance (X2, if needed) combo to try and take out Queenie before she has the chance to get another Rollout out. Darucho noticed how even with Lanas lowered speed- she managed to move quicker than the Phanpy and the bug before, so he has placed his faith in the bird in optimistically hoping this happens again.

Lana was off in a flash, lashing out against the racing elephant. This had the side effect of taking the battle to exactly where the other pokemon wanted it, right in its path. Lana's first strike hit home but Queenie's momentum was already built. It would be Lana's second blow that would give Assurance it's power. Before the second lashing could land Queenie had run her over. There was no way the little bird could not withstand a triple built rollout, not when she had so conveniently set herself in the way.

Some of the crowd moaned, the ones who'd been rooting for Darucho, the underdog, willing him to win. And of course the rest cheered because their old favorite had once more came out victorious. Reginald Butler was not one to gloat. While the quiet man had spoken nary a word throughout the whole deal, now his reserved words sounded deeply across the way to Darucho's ears.

"You battled well, and your pokemon are fierce fighters. Perhaps we can do this again someday." He bowed to his challenger and recalled dear Queenie who had once more won the hearts of their fans. Now the announcer was blathering again.

"Reginald Butler has done it again! Give them both a hand folks, I don't believe there's been a battle this riveting in years!" The man at loudspeaker rambled on some more nonsense that no one really cares about at this point - but it was effectively congratulating Darucho on a battle well fought and inviting him to remain at the event until its conclusion.

Darucho didn't need to be the smartest person around to know full well this was an 'all or nothing' last-ditch attempt from both him and Lana - because Assurance was a physical attack and required the Spearow to get close to the dangerously whirling blue elephant in order for it to have a chance of hitting, if the double attack wasn't fast enough, he and the Spearow were as good as out of the tournament, simple as that.

Yet, despite the odds, the spiky-haired one still stood strong, keeping positive. Whether the battle was won or lost here, he would be happy either way. It might sound very strange to some, to her Darucho say he was happy either way: but if he won, of course, hed be happy with his two Pokemon for fighting so hard and pulling off a win against the odds, and if he lost, hed be happy to have at least, taken one of this much more stronger trainers powerful Pokemon down.

Logically, because this trainer was a really tough onehe shouldnt have been able to take down even the Wurmple, but that had still happened nonetheless because of his Pokemon fighting their utmost, and he was proud of them for trying. Besides, he hadnt come here to try and win a lot of prizes hed just come here so that he and his Pokemon could have the experience, and in that asset, he was very much still a winner. This was a honorable opponent, anyway to show disappointment in front of such a gentlemanly fellow would make him seem like a bad loser, and that was the last thing that Darucho wanted.

Lana sped forwards, carrying his hopes and beliefs with her and slamming hard against the Phanpy but though the Phanpy had low health at that point, the first Assurance was not enough to take her down, nor was it enough o knock the elephant off-kilter and falter in her Rollout. Lana lunged again, ready to land her next attack but alas, her getting close to the elephant had put her right in range for her attack, and before the Spearows attack could even land, the Phanpy sped forward, running the avian over and leaving her unconscious on the battlefield floor.

Darucho had tried, and so had Lana but in the end, the sheer defense of the Phanpy had been one they could not break. The spiky-haired trainer recalled Lana, saying quietly to her as he did so, Thank you, Lanayou were very brave to go right up to Phanpy like I asked, even though we couldnt faint her before she fainted you, in the endIm glad that I have such good friends.

Though Darucho kept a smile and a positive expression on his face, it was very hard to keep it on when he heard some of the crowd groaning the ones who surprisingly, had been supporting him instead of the gentleman hed lost to. Darucho had thought all of the people in the audience favored the more experienced gentleman, from the way theyd cheered him before, but it seems he was wrong about that. Speaking to the crowd, he said this being directed to the groaning people Im really sorry I couldnt live up to your expectationsbut Mister Reginald and his Pokemon were too experienced for me.

This admitted, Darucho felt absolutely horrible for letting those people down whom had been believing in him to win it was like a Tyranitar had stomped on his heart and left it a squished mess. That was how horrible it actually felt. However, through the cheers of the crowd congratulating the older trainer, Reginald spoke up clearly for the first time in the match, stating that Darucho had battled well, and his Pokemon were fierce fighters and perhaps they could do this again someday.

To hear such an experienced trainer as that say that he and his Pokemon had done wellit made Darucho feel a lot better about not being able to live up to the expectations of some of the crowd. Reginald had no obligation to say such a thing to him, yet he had said it anywaysthe older trainer saw promise in him and his companions, and the meaning of this made Darucho forget his sadness in not being able to live up to some of the crowds expectations. The man even bowed to him!

As the man recalled his Phanpy, the announcer blared up again, stating the winner of the match and to give both Reginald and Darucho a hand as he didnt think there had been a battle this riveting in years. He then began rambling on about some stuff that was hard to understand, but Darucho basically got the jist of it it was congratulating him on a battle well fought and inviting him to remain at the event until its conclusion. Darucho supposed that since the folks here wanted him to stay at the event until it was done, it was only polite to respect that.

Even if he couldnt understand why the folks wanted him to stick around hed lost, right? So, why would they want him to stick around? It was rather confusingbut oh well. Hed go heal his Pokemon and enjoy the rest of the tournament, anyway.
