The Dynamic Trio More exposure as a trainer isn't a bad thing, Celeste told herself as she made her way onto the battlefield, and I know I'm going to enjoy this. The constant mental assurances to herself did little to make her look like anything but a terrified amateur. The lanyard around her neck was driving her insane, and she kept adjusting her shirt, ocassionally glancing down to make sure she'd remembered to wear pants, despite logic dictating that if the pants were there the last time she'd checked, they would still be there. Pants were sneaky things, anyway, and logic was the last thing on the mind of a woman about to fight her first match in the Little Cup. The two Grand Melees had been different, a group of trainers thrown together for a brawl. Here, she would stand, alone, against a pro trainer who no doubt had hoardes of fans. There were all number of things that made this difficult, among them being the level cap which limited the attacks her pokemon could execute, the three-pokemon limit, the fact that her opponent could be literally any pokemon within the rules that she could fathom, and the double battle format adding a layer of complexity. Lucky, she had prepared a trio she hoped could compliment eachother well in any combination. The fact that she liked to delay the evolution of her pokemon so they could expand their movepools was to her advantage this time, giving her some selection. Now, she simply needed to see what her opponent sent out and find which two of her three pokemon formed the most effective team. Yeah, simple. She just needed to go through that pokemon encyclopedia she called a brain to come up with every variable, do the math, and make a decision in the alotted time to make pokemon selections. Perfectly simple. Celeste took a deep inhale, and looked around at the audience, trying hard not to think about the sheer size of the crowd. They weren't here for her, after all, but her opponent, whomever that may be. She grasped all three pokeballs, wondering if the officials would mind if she let her third pokemon out to watch the battle from the trainer's box with her. There probably wouldn't be a problem with it; they likely had people monitoring the battle at all times to avoid any foul play that could lead to. She closed her eyes, gave one last deep breath, and smiled. "Let's do this." |

(0.3 . Enjoy your cookie cutter mod to get you started.)The noise as you stepped out was deafening - the prospect of meeting their favourite pro trainers had drawn thousands of people to the stadium. Once you had taken your position at one end of the field, the announcer's voice boomed over the loudspeakers. "Ladies and Gentlemen! Next up to challenge the pros is a trainer you may recognise from the Grand Melées. Hailing from Little Hillmoss Town, give it up for Celeste Hunter!" The crowd let out an encouraging cheer, and applauded. "And introducing her first opponent. Semi-finalist from the recent Mayriver Grand Prix, all the way from Ashdell, let's hear it for Penny Hernandez!" Across from you stood a young brunette woman, who waved to the crowd when they erupted into wild cheers. As per Little Cup rules, Penny was tasked to release her pokémon first, so she duly obliged. She nodded respectfully towards you, then called out her pokémon. "Tank! Coolio! Let's go!" Flicking two pokéballs into the arena, they both burst, revealing a Rhyhorn and a Tentacool. They took up position on their half of the arena, and prepared themselves for battle. The referee situated at the side of the field relayed instructions as to how the battle should progress next. "The challenger may now choose her two pokémon for this round, and may also call out the first commands."

0.2 ![]() Penny Hernandez. Dear Arceus, she was facing Penny Hernandez. Honestly, though, she asked herself, what did she expect? This was the Little Cup, which meant pros taking on rookies like her with young pokemon. Still, it was more than a little intimidating, and the grin she flashed Penny in response to her nod was clearly nervous. It was pretty obvious who the crowd wanted to win, too, which didn't help her confidence. She closed herself off from the crowd, focusing on her opponent. The two pokemon weren't surprising, with Penny being a Corona Island girl, and they made her choice fairly obvious. There was no point sending out Talia with a rock type on the field, Steel Wing or no Steel Wing. She tucked away the bird's pokeball, deciding that she probably shouldn't let her out to spectate like she'd been considering, and tossed the other two out onto the field. "Chance! Guildenstern! You're up!" Chance curled his tail around himself, the eevee peering around at the crowd with his big brown eyes. He'd fought in front of a crowd before, but he'd been a glaceon then and his time in the spotlight had been painfully short. He puffed up his chest and soaked in the audience's energy as much as he could. Guildenstern, on the other hand, just flopped over onto one side, the slowpoke seeming to think that now was a great time to sunbathe. In the books and movies, this moment before the attacks flew could last forever as pokemon sized eachother up and built drama. Here, it last barely a second as Celeste let loose her commands. "Gus, shut down tentacool! Chance, tear down rhyhorn! Move!" She barked the orders like a commander to their troops, and the pokemon went into action. Chance gave Tank the sweetest and most adorably charming puppy-dog look he could. The big rock monster didn't want to hurt itty bitty little him and his buddy, did he? He held the expression just long enough to put a faulter in his opponent's step before he started to hack, stomach heaving, and spat a glob of potent toxin at Tank's face. Guildenstern just slowly raised his head, fixed his slightly cross-eyed expression on Coolio, and let out a long, loud yawn. Then he settled back down and mumbled something, his skin shimmering as he swapped speed for power.

0.3 ![]() Chance's charm infected the Rhyhorn. Anyone paying close enough attention would have noticed the big oaf blush slightly; but soon the Coolio the Tentacool emitted a ray of sound towards Guildenstern, though the Slowpoke didn't seem all too fazed, even though it did have an effect. In response, a contagious yawn was directed at Coolio who yawned in return. Tank was now running towards Guildenstern at a breakneck pace, just as Chance spat up a disgusting wad of toxic poison into his face. The Rhyhorn roared as the toxin seeped into his eyes. He was momentarily blinded by the attack and ended up tripping over himself and landing but a yard from Guildenstern's skewed face. The Slowpoke was muttering incantations. Coolio was about to attack again, his body expanded like a balloon as he conjured some water. He was about to exude the water all over Chance, but then, he yawned. The water poured out of his body and he drifted slowly down to the ground and passed out. Meanwhile, Tank had rolled back onto his feet, he shook the rest of Chance's regurgitation off his face and returned to the battle. Guildenstern was right there, now slow as a rock after taking on his curse, so Tank forcefully jabbed his horn underneath Guildenstern's body and heaved him upward, causing the Slowpoke to flip into the air and then back down onto his back. That had to hurt.

0.3 ![]() Celeste sent her pokemon loose, already running possible scenarios through her mind. Her strategy had been fairly simple. Guildenstern was the muscle and Chance the trickster on her side, and Tank was the muscle, and Coolio the trickster on Penny's. Putting Coolio to sleep stopped him from messing with them, and poison wasn't affected by Tank's thick hide and superior endurance. The only thing she hadn't prepared for was a use of Supersonic from Coolio before he succumed to poison, because Guildenstern wouldn't be effected, and all she really needed was her muscle for the next few moves. That's why it surprised her when the confusion-inducing move never came. Celeste knew Penny was a fairly aggressive battler, but she was beginning to realize just how much. In fact, for a first exchanging of moves, this had gone shockingly well. Though that Horn Attack had looked fairly painful. "You guys okay?" she called out. Chance, looking disgusted from both the aftertaste of venom in his mouth and the reaction to his cute display from Tank (he was so not interested), turned his head to look at her and yipped. Yeah, he was just fine, all things considering. Guildenstern just continued laying on his back, eyes glazed over, and a bead of drool tickled down from the corner of his mouth. Assuming that her slowpoke was resting and not comatose with brain damage, that meant things were going well. Time to make sure Coolio stayed out of the battle permanently. Taking out Tank, even with the poison in his system, would be a two-pokemon job. "Gus, crush the tentacool. Chance, play support." Chance snapped back from dangerous to adorable again, this time working his magic on Coolio. He sat and wagged his tail, head cocked to one side and eyes big in a sweet stare. He was confident that his weapon's grade cuteness was effective even through a haze of sleep. Then he hopped to his feet and pounded his little paws against the ground in canine applause, prancing around and howling cheers. The reason why was apparent when Guildenstern rolled over and got to his feet. Moving with all the blinding speed of a drug-addled, half-blind slug, and encouraged by the his one-dog cheering section, he trotted over to give Coolio a headbutt with a glowing head. The math was fairly simple. Type advantage, plus same-type bonus, plus Guildenstern's boosted power, plus Coolio's absymal defense, plus a further defense lowering and a Helping Hand boost, equalled one very flat Coolio. The only variable was Tank, and he had been effectively neutered by Chance's charms to the point that him dishing out the knockout that would disrupt the cooperative assault was unlikely. Still, she wasn't going to count her torchic until they hatched. Penny Hernandez wasn't a pro for nothing.

0.3 ![]() Penny heard your orders to take out her Tentacool. She knew that Poison types do not agree with Psychic moves. "Coolio, wake up and use Supersonic on that Slowpoke!" Sadly, she had neglected to remember that Slowpoke's ability prevents said confusion that would be caused by Supersonic. Furthermore, Coolio remained unresponsive and kept on snoring in that jellyfish way of snoring. Do jellyfish even sleep? Anyways, not only had Penny neglected to remember what Own Tempo does, you also seemed to have forgotten what Clear Body does. The Tail Whip from Eevee that was directed at Coolio had no effect on him whatsoever, but it also affected Tank, who lowered his guard a bit, uncertain as to whether he wanted to go after Chance or not. (That's my kitty's name, btw ;) ) A little flustered that things are not going her way, Penny quickly gave out an order to Tank. "Megahorn that Slowpoke!" Yep, her strategy involves hitting hard and fast. Fortunately for you, you had already taken care of that strategy. Tank, being faster than Guildenstern, charged over to ram his horn into the Slowpoke's side. While a Megahorn would be devastating normally, it did minimal damage to Guildenstern mainly due to your tactics. As per your order, Guildenstern merely took a small nap to restore his strength up to full. Slowly getting up to his feet, encouraged by Chance to do his best, the Slowpoke slowly made his way over to Coolio while somehow dodging another Megahorn from Tank. He delivered a Zen Headbutt that did 126 damage to Coolio. Yea, you read right, 126 damage.
You gain 1.5 !EDIT: Sorry about the mixup! I should really pay more attention >.< Edited by dragonfan, Nov 22 2010, 05:37 PM.

0.3 ![]() Celeste was mildly embarassed when she saw Chance doing his Tail Whip attack. Tentacool could have Clear Body as an ability, which meant that there was a fifty-fifty chance of that not working. That was the problem with leaving her pokemon to interperate her orders. Given that Coolio stayed asleep and prompty went kersplat, she was pretty sure Chance didn't find out that there were those who could resist him, which was really for the best. And then there was one. Being the one in a two-on-one was never a place where a person wanted to be. Penny was getting flustered. Celeste had forgotten about that particular personality trait, given that no one wanted to advertise a Pro's faults. She smiled. The poison was steadily getting worse, which meant that she could take her time if she wanted to, but she rather felt like ending this with a bang. Guildenstern was already settling down to rest again. She'd rather he use Curse again but, frankly, he battled on his own terms. Chance was starting to pace, and despite it not being the finest strategy, she decided indulge his desire to strike at least one blow for himself during the fight. "Blunt his edge, and take him down!" she shouted, and the dog immediately stopped pacing and locked his gaze on Tank. At first, it was the puppy dog eyes all over again. He drooped his ears and made sad eyes, whimpering softly and looking at Guildenstern. His buddy was all hurt. Tank wouldn't hurt him again, would he? Even if he would, Chance wouldn't let him. He pulled a rapid one-eighty, fur bristling and bearing his teeth, and tore across the battlefield to throw his enitre weight against Tank's body...and then bounce off and shake his head, most likely, given that he was dealing with something made of stone. The real danger lay, again, with Guildenstern, who hauled himself to his feet and shot a stream of water at Tank, then plopped back down. Wonderful attack, that; he didn't have to walk around.

"How many assholes we got on this ship anyhow?"

.3 Puppy dog eyes. Puppy wrath that followed. Chance darted forward with all the power of a puff ball on the wind. Tank grunted as the little dog collided with him. Again there was the sickening feeling of the poison working on his stony system. Shaking it off, he stomped at the eevee, planting a heavy foot on his gorgeous tail. He yelped a squeal of pain and lost a few tail hairs as he yanked away, back to his side of the field. Now was the Slow Pokes time. And boy was he taking his time. He was slacking off. And feeling better about himself all the time! Of course while he was lolly-gagging, ol' Tank got in another hit on Chance, charging after the poor pup and terrorizing him with a horn attack. Penny couldn't help but crack a smile at the hilarity of it all. She stopped luaghing when, out of the blue, Tank was wiped off the field in a gush of water. Everyone turned to Guildenstern who burped lazily and scratched himself (or something that equally states that he's bored). The entire arena was silent for a split second before the roar of the crowd shook the stands. Celeste had won and left Penny shaking her head in amazement. "Good show!" She called over the announcer's rambling, and withdrew the fallen Tank. "Congratulations Celeste!" cried the loud speakers. But now even the audience was drowning it out. Celeste just barely cought something about leaving the field and taking a break between battles. Ta. You won. 1.5

0.3 ![]() Celeste put a hand to her mouth and chuckled as Chance began his rather slapsticky exchanging of blows with Tank. Her little eevee sprinting around to try to save his lovely fur was downright hilarious. Then, woosh and it was over. Guildenstern scratched his ear idly with his hind foot as the crowd roared, and Chance trotted over to Celeste and sat in front of her. Wasn't he such a good dog, his eyes seemed to be asking. She scooped him up with a grin and waved at the cheering audience, before giving Penny a wave of her own. There was no point in trying to speak at this point, when even the announcer on the speakers could barely be understood. Guildenstern waddled his way over and looked up at Celeste, who knelt down to stroke his head. His long tail swished slightly at the attention, and then he yawned and flopped to the ground again. She chuckled and recalled him before she stood up and made her exit, practically sashaying out of sight. Dear Arceus, what a rush. It didn't take long before she was making her way out to the battlefield again, nerves starting to settle in her stomach again. She had managed to win the first time, guaranteed a prize from at least the first tier for her trouble, but Celeste knew she could never come here without trying to go all the way. Penny Hernandez was a talented battler, and if they had both been fighting at their best Celeste would have been creamed. She could only imagine whom they were going to send her up against next. Chance was in her arms, like he had been when she'd left after her previous battle. Normally, he prefered to walk, trying not to look any more the pampered puffball than he already did. However, a place with this many people was a hazard to fluffy tails, and, besides, Celeste seemed to like the comfort that came from the action. So, he let himself be carried around. For her. He looked around at the people in the stands and wagged his tail; he hoped he got to fight this time, too! Celeste gave her furry passenger a small squeeze and took a deep breath. She waved at the crowd as she waited for the announcement of her next opponent. Edited by Vulpix Windchimes, Dec 1 2010, 04:30 PM.

HEAR YE, HEAR YE "Celeste Hunter?" a staff member called out. He was clothed in the official red and black of the Pokémon League and had a microphone in his ear. He looked attached to his clipboard and bustled around the stadium with an air of undeserved importance; he spotted Celeste, jerked his head as if to say "you're on," and pointed her in the direction of her next arena. "Number 45," he shouted after her before scurrying off to do something official. Arena 45 was prepped for battle. The stadium ground - grass, freshly mowed, with white lines painted neatly across the edges - looked and felt welcoming this time around. It was a little after 3:00 and the sun was still smiling down on the festivities; the sky was exploding with balloons, kites, and winged pokémon as they soared overhead. As Celeste walked to her field she must have seen her face projected on the local jumbotron. A stocky cameraman was buzzing around her with an equally obstructive smeargle at his side. Our next contestant has arrived! the announcer boomed. Visiting Lorenzo from neighboring Little Hillmoss Town, we have one Celeste Hunter! A second announcer cut in this time it was a womans voice. Celeste demonstrated excellent skill last round against Penny Hernandezs tentacool and rhydon. Immediately playbacks from the last round streamed over the television sets. A slowpoke was spitting jets of water at a massive white rhydon; the rhydon crumpled under the strain and collapsed. Hunter showed us an eevee and a slowpoke last round, both very well trained. Lets see if she uses the same team for round two. The camera man and the smeargle spun around Celeste before fluttering away to someone else. The jumbotron flickered and another girls face took the screen. The stadium lights were flashing green and yellow around Celestes field, indicating that a new battle was about to start. - and touring all the way from Kanto, we have the incredible, the beautiful, the intelligent the announcers voice was almost too enthusiastic. The jumbotron shone with the spectacular blonde hair of the next contestant. - Usagi Tsukino! the female announcer interrupted. Clips from Tsukinos last match played on the screen as the real Tsukino entered the arena opposite Celeste. She was dressed in a schoolgirls outfit, white with a pleated blue skirt, red marbles holding up her impossibly yellow hair. The jumbotron showed clips of a fierce meowth scattering coins all over the field, then sucker punched a mankey. The crowd roared as usual and the mysterious school girl made a small curtsey. Tsukinos meowth is a regular crowd pleaser lets hope we get to see him again for round two ! the announcer continued. Both contestants have now arrived on the field. Let the battle begin! The field lights changed to red. Usagi Tsukino tossed out two magical red pokéballs. They burst open with light and sparkles. The schoolgirl giggled, blew a kiss and then went Sailor Senshi on your ass.

0.4 *snerk*Celeste was dumbstruck for a long moment, her mouth hanging open. They managed to bring in Kanto's Usagi Tsukino for this tournament? She thanked her lucky stars that Charity wasn't here, lest the ralts make some sort of comment about her trainer's inability to speak when faced with the blonde. Aware that the cameras were back on her, she closed her gaping mouth and grinned. The two pokemon she was faced with made her choice of combatants easy, along with her strategy. Celeste wasn't generally one for flash, keeping her battle practices practical, but something about the sight of herself on a massive screen and the screaming of the crowd lit a fire in her, and an idea entered her mind as she murmured to Chance. The eevee looked a little disappointed, but hopped down and settled at her feet to watch the battle. She plucked one pokeball from her belt and tossed it straight up, then snatched up the second pokeball. She lept forward, balancing on one foot as she whipped her arm around and let the pokeball fly with a snap of her wrist. "Guildenstern!" She sprung up off of that leg and smashed her hand into the first, airborne pokeball like hitting a volleyball. "Talia!" Both capsules burst open, and Celeste landed, slightly unsteadily, soon enough to catch them on the rebound. Talia shot straight into the air, the taillow twirling like a ballet dancer and screeching like a hawk. Guildenstern just flopped over onto his side, but that was expected of the slowpoke by now. "Talia, rip and tear, mankey then nidoran. Gus, build up and take out nidoran." A growl rumbled from Talia as she snapped a sullen look at her trainer, but she obeyed. A blur of speed, she hurled herself across the battlefield in a reckless full-body tackle in the hope of taking out the mankey before he could make a move, then swerved around to strike at his partner with glowing, metallic wings. Guildenstern just happily plunked down and mumbled a curse before slowly hauling himself to his feet and hoping to headbutt the nidoran out of the fight. A much more aggressive stance than her first match. Hopefully it'd work.

0.2 ![]() Kaboom. There was a moment where you could have heard a pin drop, and then Celeste was drowned in cheering. She was stunned, not having completely registered the result of her all-out assault. Despite the fact that Guildenstern could be outrun by molasses on a cold day, everything still had seemed quick and hard to follow. She wasn't even entirely sure if what had just happened was exactly possible, but the world was a freaky place sometimes, and she sure wasn't complaining. In fact, Celeste threw her fist in air with a whoop of triumph, and Chance howled, tail waving. She recalled her fighters and grinned at Usagi, hoping her enthusiasm would be infectious rather than insulting. Then, with a final wave to crowd, she turned and walked out of the arena. Celeste was practically squirming as she waited for the announcer to call her name for the third round. Excitement still bubbled from the previous bout, but the familiar anxiety was making itself at home. There's no freaking way I can pull that off a second time. She fingered her pokeballs; her entire team had been on the field at this point, and she was sure her opponent was prepared for her. She bit her lip as her cue finally came, and she started to walk, stepping out into the arena lights and the eyes of the cameras. There were some...interesting characters in the Pro Circuit, she knew that well. She wondered who was going to stand against her for the last round, and smiled as best she could during what she knew would be a short wait to find out. |

Go for it, run towards it, dive in head first. Live life with no regrets!

.3 I apologize in advance for throwing one of my fancharacters at you from a webcomic I'm sure you don't read, but I REGRET NOTHING. \o/So, yeah, a lot of weird folks were on this circuit. Non-human folks, a lot of them, but they were all pokemon trainers. Though, there was the question: Had they always been trainers, or did time and space distort and allow them to exist here for a time? Who cares! It was fun either way. Especially meeting new people. Or maybe not people but trolls. 'cause there's suddenly a lot of friggin' trolls around here, my goodness. But not all of them are angry dudes. Yeah sorry I'm rambling again. It's like Giftmas but without the presents. Somewhere in the crowd, a brick flew through the air and hit a blond girl with wings, right in the head. She sputtered ineffectually and decided to get on with it. Celeste's final opponent ascended the steps into the arena, clad in a black hooded cloak that did a pretty good job adding to the stupid mystery. She had a scythe that she used like a walking stick, and here's the weirdest part: She had horns. They came out of the side/topish of her head and curled down around her ears, spiraled like a ram. They were reddish orange at the base, orange in the middle, and yellowish orange at the tip, and had a razor sharp, serrated ridges on the front edge. She was kind of short, and had long black hair tied back in a tail, with the tip dyed orange and hanging out the front of her hood since it was up. She stopped at the top of the platform, tapping her scythe with her fingernails. The thing seemed... nervous? "Hello. I-" she stopped, seeing a winged something or other in the crowd flailing and saying... something. Celeste's opponent hesitated, and reached up to pull her hood off. She, like some of the weird other people that had popped up, had gray skin and yellowish sunken-in eyes, and a single fangtusk poking up out of her mouth. Now it was pretty obvious that she was a little shy and distressed about this whole thing, but she tried to smile anyways. When your mouth is full of pointy teeth, a smile can be pretty scary. "I suppose I'm your final round opponent. My name is Agatha, but you can call me Raggy. Good luck," she reached into her cloak, making the orange Aries sign on her black shirt visible for a moment, and tossed two balls into the arena. They exploded, and revealed Celeste's final challenge. "Presenting the final round of the Little Cup!" a new voice exploded over the loudspeakers, "Celeste Hunter against Agatha Ghedes, the Thief of Time! Ready set go!" Someone, somewhere, is having way too much fun with this. Level 10 40/40 Level 10 30/30 |

0.4 ((Wow, throwing my alien character at Floyd really opened the floodgates, didn't it? And no, I don't read it, but you're awesome anyway.))That's not the regular announcer. The fact that that was her first thought when faced with a horned and fanged woman really spoke of how desensitized she'd become over her training career. Though, frankly, it had been happening even sooner than that, given that the first Pro tournament she'd watched live had had Aurora the alien as a competitor, before she vanished years ago. Apparently she'd come back, too, from what she'd heard of the rest of the second round matches. Maybe she'd be able to snag her for an autograph later. For now, though, she had a match. She smiled at Raggy, unfazed by her fangs. Once you'd been on the recieving end of a big, happy grin from Floyd T. Scavian, your sense of scale and scariness became slightly skewed. "Good luck to you too. I'm sure you won't need it." Celeste, though, just might. Both of her opponents could be very tricky, especially regarding status problems, and had high tolerance for special attacks. It looked like her pink crowd-pleaser was sitting the last round out. "Talia, Chance, get moving!" Talia erupted from her pokeball into the air with a screech, and Chance took on the defensive stance, growling. They sized up the pair at the other end of the battlefield, then looked at eachother. Celeste glanced from happiny to ledyba and back again, then bit her lip. She needed to play it safe and find out what Raggy's strategy was. "Talia, set up. Chance, tear 'em down! The taillow became a blur a speed as she darted around, one blur becoming several. Chance, meanwhile, went about putting some dust in the ledyba's buggy eyes and then making a big, tail-wagging display of cuteness for the pair of them.

.3 Yes it did, but this is so much fun omg. Also it's a nice motivational tool for us to get this silly Cup over and done with three months later. At some point, the announcer mumbled something along the lines of 'stupid damage calculator' and 'stupid open office' but nobody really cared. It was really faint and uninteresting, aside from it's the fact that this mod took so dang long. Stupid damage calculator. Stupid open office taking forever to download. Stupid stupid dumb. But the troll narrowed her eyes, suddenly flooded with information about the two critters in front of her. She still wasn't exactly sure what she was doing here, but it was obviously important. Closing her eyes briefly, she opened them again and looked at the happiny, "Alright. Eggy, Lady, confuse them first, then see what you can do as far as attacking. Copycat and Bug Buzz," The pair chirped and nodded, turning to their opponents. One of which was already in motion. Taillow launched herself into the air and became even faster then she already was. As it was, she would have easily outran anything on the field, but she made herself even faster. Kinda scary, but hey. At the same time, because of its immense speed, it split into another copy. The eevee and ledyba moved at the same time, one with a burst of sand and the other with a burst of supersonic waves. The bug got a face full of earth, and the sound waves washed over the furry creature to leave him disorientated. Finally, the little egg creature got to move, trying to find the right bird, catch it, and deliver a cute little kiss onto its beak. Surprisingly enough, it worked. Chance and Lady again moved at the same time, one inflicted with confusion and the other couldn't see as well as she could a few seconds ago. Chance wagged his tail cutely, somehow lowering their defense, but got buzzed in the face by a ladybug. The cosmic noise that controls accuracy is just not on Celeste's side today. Or my damage calc is broken. Now, Eggy was a little baffled, but not really confused. She was supposed to copy the last attack used, but Chance and Lady attacked at the same moment. So she closed her eyes, concentrated really hard, and started buzzing madly at the bird up in the sky. Yeah that was a miss.

0.3 ![]() Celeste gritted her teeth. Confusion. It figured. That was the one compelling reason to have sent Guildenstern in instead, and the reason she'd had Talia go the evasive route in the first place. However, there was a silver lining, in the fact that Lady hadn't used Safeguard, or any shielding move for that matter. Either she didn't know them, or Raggy didn't think to use them. Time to cash in on that weakness, if she could get through to her pokemon. "Snap out of it!" she demanded, watching Chance start with a disoriented yip and the multiple Talias flounder about in the air. "Focus, Talia, and rip that ledyba up! Chance, use Envenom on the happiny!" Hopefully, Talia would shake it off and focus herself before hurling herself at Lady, kamikaze style, like she had Justice in the previous round and take her out. Hopefully, Chance would perform the combination technique they'd dreamed up, coating his teeth in toxins before sinking them into Eggy's hide. Either the normal type would use up precious time healing herself, or risk the potent poison. Or, the dice of fate would completely screw her over. Which would almost seem appropriate, with how easily she'd blasted through the first two rounds. But that was out of her control.

.2 ![]() Raggy was watching the match with obvious curiosity, seeing the bird dart through the air, the furry creature wag its tail cutely, and her own monsters buzz. She shook her head a little after the exchange, and realized she couldn't even see the taillow anymore, it was moving so quickly. Before she could even give orders, the bird was in motion. Unfortunately that motion took an abrupt detour and the bird smacked right into the ground as it attempted to focus. The horned girl winced and covered her eyes for a second. "That really looked like it hurt." But the bird recovered, again before anyone could do anything, and flung itself at the ladybug. It was sloppy, but the bird collided with the bug with such force that they both crashed into the ground. When Raggy looked again, the bird was recovering and the bug was very obviously not going anywhere for a while. The troll looked horrified for a second, but it quickly passed. "...huh. If you say so," she recalled the bug and finally got around to issuing her own orders at her remaining pokemon. "That bird is really strong, so try to soften it up a little. Charm and pound." Her egg creature nodded, and she turned to see Chance running for her, all teeth and venom. But like the bird, he tripped and slammed face-first into the ground. That gave Eggy enough time to find the floundering bird and charm it with all the adorableness she could muster. Talia, in her confusion, slowed down to stare, and got a beak full of punch for her troubles. Well, could be better, could be worse. At least happiny has the strength of a five year old, anyways.

0.3 ![]() "It probably did," Celeste mumbled in response to Raggy's observation, squeezing the bridge of her nose. That didn't bode well, but at least the rest of the round wasn't entirely bad. Lady was out of the match, and happiny weren't really known for their power, or having many tricks up their sleeves. The whole evolution family was more famed for being walking Pokemon Centres than anything. All she really needed to do was break through this confusion and launch a final, physical assault. Talia was staring at Eggy with a bewildered and muddled expression. It hadn't occurred to her addled brain yet, but between the kiss and the current display, she was in for a world of teasing when this was over. Chance was spitting dirt and foul-tasting poison from his mouth, feeling off-balance and miserable. They weren't quite the well-oiled machine Celeste needed. "Get it together! Both of you!" she barked, seeming to cut through the haze for a moment. Whether it lasted long enough for them to perform her orders was yet to be seen. She'd have to be more specific this time. "Chance, Helping Hand. Talia, Steel Wing." They were risky orders given the circumstances, but she had a backup plan. "If that doesn't work, Take Down and Brave Bird." One focused slash of metallic wings, or a rather sloppy overwhelming double-teamed assault. Either way, it'd be a sight for a crowd. She hoped.

.2 ![]() For whatever reason, the universe really didn't want the taillow to get off both of its attacks. Just like last round, the bird moved to use its boosted attack (since Chance sprung out of his confusion long enough to do that) and crashed into the ground again. Raggy again winced at the sight, biting her lip a little. Even if it was good for her, she didn't exactly like it. But Talia rose again and sped for the egg creature, crashing into it like she did before. Unlike before, the bird didn't get up, and the eggy thing did. She went in for another attack, since it was all she could even do at this point, and Chance looked like he was hurting. He wasn't hurting enough, and snapped out of his confusion finally, for one final strike! He hunkered down and leapt at the egg, throwing up a cloud of dust... somehow. Dramatic tension? Sure, that sounds good. Either way, the dust cleared and left behind Chance, shaking a little from pain and exertion, and Eggy soundly defeated. The poor eevee seemed like he was going to pitch over at any second, though. "And Celeste wins!" and like every time someone wins, the crowd went crazy. Agatha dug around in her cloak for Eggy's ball, and withdrew the little creature. She peered at the sphere with curiosity before she put it back in her pocket. With her hand still in her pocket, she seemed to be considering something else in there, but decided against it. "Good job on winning. Hopefully I'll see you again someday, human," she smiled, and turned to leave while pulling her hood up again. Maybe someday she'd be able to explain that she wasn't trying to be rude, but that the bright sunlight was starting to really bother her. They're not fond of sunlight, you see. But anyways, joy and celebration! If you were curious, Chance was left with like... 2 HP. And you get the 3.0 whatever!EXP from this round! |

0.3 ![]() She'd won. She'd won. Chance looked back her, quivering, and let out a small yip. Celeste shook for a moment, staring out at the field, right before she threw her fist into the air and she out a cry of triumph. "Yes!" Tears were running down her face, as a grin split her features. She raced out and grabbed her poor eevee, hoisting him into the air, and Chance yipped and howled in victory despite his pain and fatigue. Then, she looked at Raggy, watching her pull up her hood. "You didn't make it easy for me. I hope so too." Then, the strange woman left the field, leaving Celeste with the screaming crowd. After a few more waves to her new fans, she recalled Chance and retreated from the arena into the dark safety of the hallways. She leaned against a wall, suddenly drained, but she still felt giddy and buzzing with adrenaline. Dear Arceus, she'd really won. |
