So you wanna be a master?

So, back here again. Cerb was no stranger to this stadium, having been here for numerous occasions... some she remembered more vaguely than others, and some she had nearly been shot at it. Usually it was just for Pokemon battles, which marked the occasion today. She never even knew there was a tier for battling younger Pokemon in. Apparently the League catered to all ages imaginable. "I wonder why you would make your career battling babies," Cerb mumbled to herself, looking around in the crowd. There were a lot of people there, some she knew and some she didn't. The teen herself had used young Pokemon on occasion in a fight, but she did prefer to wait until her Pokemon were older before they began to engage in serious battles. Sometimes the resulting trauma wasn't so easy to fix. But she had no fear today. Rajaion was young but strong, and had all the temperament of his father: overprotective and bitey. If Cerb had him out at the moment, she had no doubts he'd be off menacing the legs of anybody close by. Her other babies she wasn't so sure about in terms of their reactions, but Cetus was a dragon and Seles was a toothy little alligator. If nothing else, personal pride could pull them through. The robotic voice rang out and Cerb tilted her head to listen before shuffling along the tunnel with the others. Just had to find the field that matched her card... Oh, there it was on the left. She turned and trotted up the steps, glancing around once to take in all the individual fields packed in the stadium. Being one face in many made her feel a bit better about this. Cerb had never done double battles, as far as she could recall. It was certain to be quite different from the usual melee brawls in this stadium. Team

(0.2 . Enjoy your cookie cutter mod to get you started.)The noise as you stepped out was deafening - the prospect of meeting their favourite pro trainers had drawn thousands of people to the stadium. Once you had taken your position at one end of the field, the announcer's voice boomed over the loudspeakers. "Ladies and Gentlemen! Next up to challenge the pros is a trainer you may recognise. Fourth place in the last Grand Melée, hailing from Little Hillmoss Town, give it up for Cerb E. Russ!" The crowd let out an encouraging cheer, and applauded. "And introducing her first opponent. A ten-year veteran to the pro circuit. All the way from Brightopolis, let's hear it for Brian "the Beast" Walker!" Across from you stood a hefty bearded man in his early thirties, who waved to the crowd when they erupted into wild cheers. As per Little Cup rules, Brian was tasked to release his pokémon first, so he duly obliged. He nodded respectfully towards you, then called out his pokémon. "Clamps! Ripper! Let's go!" Flicking two pokéballs into the arena, they both burst, revealing a Krabby and a Spearow. They took up position on their half of the arena, and prepared themselves for battle. The referee situated at the side of the field relayed instructions as to how the battle should progress next. "The challenger may now choose her two pokémon for this round, and may also call out the first commands."

.3 ![]() And there was her first opponent. Wincing with the noise going on, Cerb managed to catch his name and figure out in the same breath how he maybe got it. That beard alone could rip anyone to shreds. And he was a ten year veteran... such encouraging facts. Still, there had been people with more training experience than her in the Grand Melee, and that had turned out all right. Just had to pull the same performance out in this one. Somehow. "Krabby and Spearow," the teen muttered to herself, looking over the little Pokemon. Her first day out of town she'd almost gotten mauled by a pack of Spearow. The birds had never been very high on her list since then. As for the crab... it was a crab. Either way, it meant things weren't exactly safe for Rajaion. The choice was clear. "Time to shine, my little blue babies!" Her Pokeballs flew out and cracked open upon the stage to reveal the Dratini and Totodile. Both peered around curiously, momentarily dumbfounded by the noise and strange surroundings. Seles grr'd and snapped her teeth at the unfamiliar Pokemon present, while Cetus keened and bent his little body backwards to look at his trainer in confusion. Cerb smiled at her little ones and tried to look as confident as possible. Confidence would boost her babies' morale. "Let's see if you two can do the great things I know you can." Cetus chirped again, his little dragon brain gradually realizing this was a battle and he should probably pay attention. Cerb waited until the Dratini had flopped back over and was facing the appropriate direction before issuing her orders. "Seles, get that bird. Freeze your teeth and bite him." The little alligator growled again and scampered off across the field, curling back her lips to expose sharp white teeth that grew a little longer and considerably colder. Cerb was hoping her hunting instincts would kick in, as they already seemed to be. And that just left Cetus. "Use your power, baby," the teen directed him, pointing over at the Krabby. "You know, the special one." The Dratini twisted himself around in thought before it clicked. His eyes glowed a bright green to match the green energy that was forming around his long body before it shot off at the crab. Cerb was just hoping this worked. With the faster pacing in the Little Cup, a round could be over in virtually seconds.

(0.3 )"And Cerb sends out a Dratini and a Totodile!" The announcer's voice boomed over the loudspeakers. "Will they be good enough to get the better of The Beast?" Brian, of course, knew all about both of the pokémon you sent out. It was his job as a pro trainer to know about the strengths and weaknesses of every species of pokémon that were legal in this tournament. He ran a hand through his thick beard as he weighed up the various threats that the two opposing pokémon posed. It took him only a couple of seconds to call out his opening commands, his gruff, booming voice carrying easily over to his pair of combatants. "Ripper, Clamps, target the Dratini." That sounded ominous. Evidently Brian didn't see Seles as a priority. Ripper was the quickest off the mark. The Spearow brandished its beak, and swooped in to skewer Cetus with a Drill Peck. The effect was such that Cetus needed a brief instant to recover he went about attacking the Krabby. Tapping into hidden reserves of mysticism, the Dratini sprayed blobs of green energy at Clamps, just as the Krabby scuttled over and clamped down on Cetus' torso with her pincers. It was enough to take down the dragon pokémon, if at the cost of bringing Clamps to the brink of defeat. She sure didn't like that super-effective attack. Meanwhile, Seles was free to do what she wanted, and used the time to superchill her fangs and savage Ripper with her jaws. Ripper managed to retaliate with another vicious peck, but a second savaging proved too much for the bird. One pokémon remaining on each side. The final action of the opening exchange was Clamps giving Seles a death glare, lowering the little croc's defences just a touch. Across from you, Brian nodded - he thought that he had the upper hand, despite the poor condition of his one remaining pokémon. ~~~~~
Instead of , you gain 1.5 for defeating Spearow.

.3 ![]() Aaaand there went her poor baby dragon. Cerb called him back from the field so he wouldn't get stepped on in the continuing conflict and eyed the crab left. Though it had taken down Cetus, the Dratini had taken a chunk out of it in return. The teen flicked her glance to the opposing trainer - he didn't seem too worried. That never boded well. "Seles," she started. The Totodile glanced up from where she was spitting out feathers from her jaws and got glared at by the crab. That's not something you expect crabs to be doing anyday. Cerb looked dourly at the Krabby. "Return the favor, for starters," Seles hissed and morphed her snout into a terrible, toothy face that would be enough to make anything pause a moment and think twice. Cerb barely had to tell her what came after that, the Totodile was already scampering off with bared fangs to take another crunch at the crab. She had tasted both blood and victory already this tournament, and Seles found she rather liked it. What better to finish off a turkey dinner than with some gourmet crab? Over on the side, Cerb was a bit disturbed. Yes, Seles was an alligator and yes, predatory nature ran through Pokemon; but seeing something level ten out for blood was a bit creepy. Maybe it ran through the family.

0.3 ![]() Being the pro that he is, Brian sensed that something is coming his way. "Clamps, wait for now until you see your window of opportunity." Even though his Krabby was at low health, he didn't seemed too worried. That might be worrisome, since he may have something up his sleeve. As Seles gave Clamps the even deadlier glare, it made the Krabby falter a bit. Brian noticed this, and gave some encouragement to the crab. "Do not falter! We shall show them our might! Just hold steady while waiting for that window to attack!" While Clamps did his best to hold fast, the Totodile was already dashing off to make the kill. "Wait for it...," cautioned Brian. When the Totodile was almost on top of the crab, he yelled, "Stomp!" The Krabby did as ordered, bringing her legs up to catch the croc in mid-air and stomp her on the ground. The attack seemed to have hit a weak spot, for that one blow knocked Seles out of the fight. Since you had no Pokemon left on your field, Brian recalled his Krabby and looked at you. He twirled Clamps' ball with on his finger. "That was a great battle! I really enjoyed it. I wasn't sure whether I would win or not! Seems like I got lucky at the end. Were it not for that critical, I would have lost! Truly, a great battle!" He then walked off admist a cheer from the crowd along with the announcer's "And the winner for this battle is Brian "The Beast" Walker! Let's hear it for him!"
