So, into town! Healing party.

Buying 5 pieces of fudge. -500Z = 11,140 on hand.

Feeding one each to Abra, Shroomish and Porygon (+1 :happiness for each, not RPing). One for Mystique, as well. Last one is for piggy and will be RPed.

Bank interest (thursdays) and Shop (Fridays):
10/7 - 67,059
10/8 - 67,459
10/14 - 68,808
10/15 - 69,208
10/21 - 70,592
10/21 - 81,732 (deposit)

I will wait until tomorrow to collect berries.

GenXP:
I have 3.0 from my journey and the rest of the OME mission and 7.0 from modding. 10 :gexp equals 6 levels with 1 :exp left over. Anubis has .5 :exp on him currently, so dumping all that on him gives him 7 levels, boosting him from level 44 to level 51. As we're still currently in Gen4 (yes?), he learns Dragon Pulse and Extremespeed as natural moves and currently is now out of learnable moves, and so his advance moves become TM/MT slots, and he gets one from level 50, meaning three more. (Also, depending on how the Gen5 switch falls out, this leaves him knowing everything I care about even with the moveset changes. *coughs*)

Collecting Mystique as tagalong officially at this point, and temporarily changing team around. Goliath and Tangela go into PC, pulling out Caligo and Faith.

Additional note, Zoruas get Detect as Egg Moves. I intend to Tutor her in it. Saying this now so that it doesn't cause confusion later.

Pulling out Berry trees.

"So, you see, this is the pokemon center. The nurse there is great. She's usually willing to give some of the greatest treats..." Ben cocked his head a little, brushing snow off his coat as he listened. Brandi chattered away to her new friend, both the little piggy creature and the black salamence plushy settled into her lap of sorts as she chirped away excitedly. He couldn't currently understand what she was saying, but it really didn't matter.

"Heh. Think they even noticed us leaving?" he asked the lucario beside him, ducking as the steel pokemon shook himself off, sending melting snow flying.

"Probably not. They never even noticed Cal and Faith sneaking off to...ahem, 'play.'" Anubis took the dozing fox kit from Ben as the trainer took his coat off, to keep an eye on her if she woke up.

"..." Ben sighed faintly to that. Well, if they wanted to mess around, they'd have to deal with the consequences. Namely that he wasn't going to go around keeping every single puppy they decided to produce.

He headed over to the PC for the moment, listening with half an ear as he shifted his party around some, distributing some of the goodies he'd gotten amongst his pokemon. He set out his trees as well, since if Faith and Cal were playing, they'd be here a bit, letting them get some sunlight and so forth. Anubis would let him know if anything interesting happened. "Do those pokeballs hurt?" Comfortable now, and comforted, the little pig wasn't stuttering at the moment, at least.

"Them? Naw...they're pretty nice, actually. Really nice. If you're hurting and stuff, they make it go away. Then again...there really isn't that much about them. It's kinda like sleeping, and dreaming, if anything. The best dreams you can think of..." A dreamy smile flitted across the craggy face. The effect was startling, to say the least. Such expressions did not belong in such territory.

"But...isn't that like...uncomfortable and stuff? Isn't it kinda...c-creepy, to be sucked up like that and then put into a dream, w-whether you want to or not?"

Brandi's dreamy reflection of whatever she saw in her pokeball dreamscape was broken by that question, and she looked down, blinking. "Hmm? Oh, no, not really. It's really nice. Particularly those new ones he got everyone. They're like twice as cozy and all that stuff. But really, if you're hurting and so on, being put somewhere where you don't hurt any more is really nice. To me anyhow. And knowing Ben, if you didn't want one, he wouldn't force you into one." She frowned a little, musing on the differences between Ben and her first trainer.

Not that she hated either of them, but it was almost like night and day. Jolt had been all about power. Or at least, mostly. He wouldn't have considered a pokemon like this little swinub worth his time, or at least, would have simply captured the thing when it was lying there like a present. This wasn't to say that he hated his pokemon. He had commanded loyalty through strength and through a desire to help his companions achieve their potential.

Ben on the other hand, he was taking the time to let this fellow decide. He took them to the beach. Sure, a lot of his pokemon were quite powerful, like Jax, Anubis, herself and Goliath, but that never seemed to be his goal. He cared more about his companion's happiness than about being as powerful as possible.

But here she was, going all philosophical and stuff. She shook herself off. Ugh. "But yeah. Ben's nice like that. All humans are different. Some of 'em really are mean or evil, but then, that's true of pokemon too. Ben really does care about us being happy, though, so if you didn't want to go into a pokeball, but wanted to stick around, I'm sure he'd let you. And he really will help you get bigger and stronger and stuff if you want. You remember that big mountain of a pokemon? Goliath used to be not a whole lot bigger than you. But Ben helped him achieve his dream of growing up like that. And now look at him." She grinned a bit, trying not to make it too scary looking.

Ben finished messing around with his boxes and poketechopia shop, and came back over to the pair. "You two having fun?" he asked with a small smile. Brandi barked back at him, happily, as the little pig looked up, thoughtful. "By the way, I got this for you, too. All my pokemon love it, anyhow, so I thought it'd be nice." Yep, he's not bribing the piggy with chocolate, no. Really.

"Oooooooh. CHOCOLATE!" Brandi squealed like, well, a girl, at the sight of the confection.

"Heh, Brandi, it's not for you," Ben laughed at the granbull's reaction.

"Aw." She mock-pouted, but she hadn't even made a lunge for it when she'd squealed. It was just chocolate. And it was piggy's. She looked down at him, pout forgotten. "But, yeah. It's the most awesome thing on the face of the planet. Try it!" she urged, stub tail vibrating madly on the floor behind them.

The swinub snuffled curiously at the brown stuff, taking in the strange, delectable odor with his sensitive nose, hesitating a moment more. "Oh, g'wan...it's gooooood~!" Brandi barked again. He snuffled one last time, then nibbled carefully at the proffered treat.

Yay chocolate!

The appropriate mans gain happiness and the breeding happens (yay) and whatnot. Things were certainly looking up!

But what's this?! The little Swinub is... happy! And smiling And not disagreeing with being put into one of those fancy balls you were talking about. In fact, I'd say Ben had just made a rather permanent companion on his journey if he so wanted it to end up like that. What a coincidence - and how extremely fortunate.

Congratulations, you have (finally) obtained:

The swinub's expression lit up as he got a taste of the confectionry, then the rest was practically inhaled out of the blind trainer's hand, and he snuffled at the now empty appendage to make sure he hadn't missed any of it. "I take it that you like it."

"Oh, yes!" he replied, though Ben couldn't understand the words, he got the idea, as Brandi huffed, her way of laughing and Anubis snorted, from over where he was checking out the two trees, with a red-tipped black stole about his neck.

"So, you gonna stay, maybe?" Brandi's tail, if anything started vibrating harder, and if it weren't for the fact that the rest of her mass was planted atop it, pinning it to the floor, her butt would surely be joining suit. "Please?" She liked her piggy. He was so cute! Almost as cute as her plushie, with the added benefit of being able to talk back.

"I...w-well, I mean...I-I'd like to...but...I..."

"Oh, relax. We like having you around. I do anyhow." Brandi hugged the pig, huffing her laugh again.

"I think Brandi made a conquest. Though he's got some shyness and self-confidence issues." Anubis padded over beside Ben, offering an explanation to the trainer, who smiled faintly.

"No worries, my little friend, if you want to stay, we're glad to have you," he commented, unconsciously echoing Brandi's words. "Do you want to stay out, or would you like to have your own pokeball? I don't keep my pokemon in them half the time anyhow, if I can avoid it. It just helps with travel sometimes and so on. Your choice of course..." The trainer didn't get one of the spheres out just yet, not wanting to scare him or something.

"I...um...t-that might be nice..." he stuttered again, still a bit afraid, but determined not to let it stop him yet again.

"Go ahead, let him try one of 'em out, Ben," Anubis translated, and the trainer nodded, producing a pokeball for the little pig, holding it out for him to sniff at and examine in his own time. The swinub snuffled at it, nervously, then eventually touched the capture switch, getting pulled into the luxury ball, which pinged almost immediately after.

The trainer waited a second or two more, then released the swine again, where he was immediately swept back up into Brandi's arms. "See? It's great, isn't it?" she barked excitedly, to the amusement of the trainer and lucario nearby.

"I-I guess so...it was...nice..." the pig stuttered after a moment or two, recovering from the strange sensations. Really, it hadn't been too bad.

"Welcome to the team, little guy," Ben commented with a small smile, and settled back to wait a bit more, since Faith and Caligo hadn't reappeared yet.

Yep, pretty much wasting time while waiting for counters. Lalalalalala!

There is not much to say other than your Swinub is joyful with the niceness of its treatment but I do not like giving out half hearts so you earn an Invisible Half Heart, which is redeemable when you earn a second Invisible Half Heart.

Also: all of a sudden, there is a Pidgey in front of your face. Surprise bird! Why there was a Pidgey, it was not clear. Or, actually, it would be clear after a moment when it started crowing for food. It was indeed hungry and wanted immediate food. It was a poor wild creature and needed to get some food in its belly before it imploded of hunger.

This is all highly ridiculous.

Ridiculous? Maybe. More really implausible, improbable, unlikely, or any number of other words, but it hasn't yet passed into the realms that I call ridiculous. Yet anyhow.

Ben let out a squawk of his own, in surprise at the sudden bird-in-face. "Holy..!" He fell back, nearly tripping over a seat as the creature cheeped in what was apparently intended to be a piteous, begging fashion. "Err...hi?" he managed after a moment.

"He's hungry, it seems." Anubis decided to be helpful and translate, though he did surreptitiously move between the bird and the ripening berry trees, ready to intercept him if he decided to try to get his food that way. Hmm. It looked like one could use a bit of watering soon, on top of that.

"Hmm. Well...let's see." Ben went into helpful mode at that, digging into his pack. He came up a little later with a bagful of cookies. He'd had warning that a pokemon he was waiting to receive was an addict, so he had stocked up on them in preparation. Since the exchange hadn't occurred yet, he figured he was safe in doling these out, though. "Hungry, I think I can fix," he commented with a small smile, opening it up and crumbling a few out onto the floor for the bird to eat.

"So, where did you come from, eh?" he cocked his head, trying to find the pidgey's owner, but there didn't seem to be anyone else really in the area. How odd. If the bird was wild, then how did he get into the center?

Good question.

He tossed a couple cookies each to Brandi, the little as-yet unnamed swinub and Anubis, and wolfing another down himself, before getting a few more ready to feed the hungry avian. Because despite the adage of eating like a bird...birds often eat more than their own body weight to keep up with all the work flying is.

Feeding the SURPRISE BIRD! Yay cookies!

>>> Be the SURPISE BIRD.

The human was feeding cookies and cookies were totally tasty! The Pidgey began to munch down on these cookies and, without any other prompting, flew right back out of the Pokémon Centre when a trainer walked through the doors. Which was, actually, highly strange.

But not before it dropped a note.

To whom it may concern,

If you're reading this note, it means my Pidgey has found you. My name is Dwight Mercer and I am a researcher over in Deepwood. Unfortunately, my life is over. In fact, by the time this has reached you, I may be dead. Allow me to explain: There is a mutated Swinub on the loose - it has the ability to subvert the minds of Pokémon with total control. This creature has rampaged through Deepwood with a loyal army of minions and then fled into the wild. It is, without a doubt, a danger.

It has scratch marks on its top as identification. If you find it... let the world know.

Doctor Dwight Mercer

...

Consider the possibilities. Could it be... that Swinub?

Now, while his leafy furball and ninja mermaid were off making more hamsters eevees in the back room, there was a SURPRISE BIRD that had gotten into his face, and then eaten half his cookies and flown out of the room without much more of a by-your-leave.

Anubis watched him go, pausing to grab the watering pail and moisten the soil around the base of the Sitrus tree, studying the growths on both plants before padding over to his trainer, pausing long enough to scoop up the dropped slip of paper. He peered down his nose at it, studying the moonrunes a moment. "Apparently that little bird had a message. I think. It's not like that bumpy stuff you read, though..." the lucario relayed, passing the message over to his trainer.

"It's called Braille, Anubis," he replied with a slight frown as he fingered the tattered sheet. It couldn't be for him, then, since anyone who knew him, and it seemed like that was a lot of people, also knew he was blind. So couldn't read stuff like this.

"Right. Bumpy stuff," the lucario replied, losing interest, as Brandi trotted off with the piggy to curl up in a corner with him and her plushy toy.

"I didn't know they still had messenger pidgey services anywhere. I wonder if he got lost somehow?" Ben mused idly, considering the message. He supposed he could hunt the bird down, but by now it was likely long gone. He could just pitch it into the trash and be done with it, or just drop it on the floor.

Most likely, he'd turn it over to the nurse in the center before he left, explaining the situation. That would be the easiest solution, really. And the one most likely to get it to whoever it belonged to. Ironic that it might be important for him to know the contents, but oh well. Such was life. The scientist guy certainly couldn't know that the bird would find a blind person first. Satisfied with his deduction, he pocketed the thing and settled back, wincing as his exceptionally good hearing caught a faint shriek from the back area of the center where his two pokemon had vanished.

He winced again as that turned his attention that way again, and his aura sense picked out little overtones he really didn't want to know about. "So, how are those berries coming, Anubis?" he asked, standing up abruptly and striding over to the trees.

His attempt at nonchalantly distracting himself was completely ruined as he really did walk into a chair this time and nearly toppled into the trees. Anubis caught him before he could, though, snorting softly. "Should be ready to harvest soon, anyhow," he replied to the question, smirking a bit. "At least most of them. The sitrus berry's not growing as fast."

Ben didn't miss the implication there, and pushed away from the warrior pokemon, straightening himself out before he trusted himself to speak again. "I swear, I'm never letting those two out together again..."

"Hah. You will. Considering what sort of profit you can make off that, with how well endowed their children happen to be, you will."

"Not..." Right on cue, his poketech beeped, and he checked it, as it cheerfully announced that someone had already laid a down-payment in his shop of four-thousand for one of the baby hamsters eevees, with a promise of the remaining six within the next few days. "..."

Anubis laughed at him. "Told you so."

And then the rest of the money came in for the down-payment a few hours later, which was totally a surprise! But hey, who cared. Ten thousand zenni was indeed ten thousand zenni and, well, that was two and a half move tutors. Who didn't want that?

Right? Right? Good. We all know where that money goes. It's tasty tasty money. Very tasty. Mmmm, tasty money. Am I rambling? Of course not. No, no rambling here.

Unfortunately, nothing happened. Things that happen inside a Pokémon Centre are rare and difficult to handle, but things were certainly interesting otherwise outside! However, you weren't outside. Nothing happens inside except for carrier Pidgeys.

On with the world, really.

Luckily, not much else needed to happen, as another piercing shriek came from down the hall, and within a moment or two, Cal slipped unobtrusively back into the room. So unobtrusively, in fact, that if it weren't for the fact that there were two aura sensors in the room that had good hearing and couldn't help but notice the noises, no one probably would have even noticed his entry at all.

And both of them were polite enough to pretend they hadn't noticed him at first though. Ben moved back over to the PC, raising a brow slightly as his poketech beeped twice more, one message being from his old (he hoped) friend Floyd, General of the OME, and the other a notification that the rest of the 10,000 from Albion had been wired in.

Well, whoever he was, he certainly worked fast indeed. Ben wasn't about to complain, no. He smiled a little at the message from Floyd though. "Anubis, mind taking a trip to the Berry King while I check on the damages?" He figured he'd better check on the results of his two eeveelution's escapades before getting back to the two buyers.

"Right, make me go out into the cold and snow and do all your work for you..." the lucario griped as he padded over to take his trainer's ID, intentionally making sure his trainer heard.

"Well, if you'd rather check on Faith and explain to her that if she's going to be adding to the eevee population like this, there's going to be consequences, I'd be more than happy to..."

"Berry King coming right up!" Anubis was out the door in a burst of speed and Ben laughed once the doors swung back shut.

"Never fails. So, Cal, you have fun?" The gray-finned vaporeon blushed purple as the trainer went to check on his leafeon mate.

I need 3 berries from BK and the apricorn, Plox. Should have got this yesterday, technically. Oh, and a note of how much I increased the eevee population by and if they're eggs and stuff.

Ben found his silvery companion wrapped protectively about a trio of eggs, dozing lightly after her exertions. He sighed faintly as he scratched behind her ear gently, after getting his information straight. "We're not going to keep them all, I hope you know, my little princess." One dark eye slitted open as he spoke, glowering a bit at him, though there was no real force behind it. "I humored you a lot keeping two of the last trio." Okay, maybe he hadn't exactly, but she didn't need to know that.

He might still end up with one from this batch, which he wouldn't necessarily complain about, unless someone made an offer for it in the near future. He considered them a moment more, then left the leafeon wrapped around them for the time being. She wouldn't necessarily be happy about it, but she wasn't going to fight him on the matter, at least. She wasn't the sort to, anyhow, and she still would at least have two babies to mother, no matter what happened. He headed back out to the main room of the center, just as a blast of freezing air heralded his lucario's return.

"Well, that was fast."

Anubis huffed slightly. "The lady behind the counter practically started gibbering when me and Mysti came in, muttering crazy stuff about axe-wielding pokemon and how she was sure she was going to get murdered. Couldn't get me out of there fast enough for her own comfort, actually. Apparently, from what some of the other people in town were saying, there was some sort of ship or something that landed nearby, then an alakazam with a battleaxe came in to get food and berries. Wierd, huh?"

Ben blinked, then started laughing. "Maybe, but really, if it means what I think it does, it'll be more like supremely convenient, particularly in light of a request made recently." He took the berries and apricorn from the lucario, pocketing them. "Water the tree and get the berries from it, too, then store them for me, okay? I've got a few things to handle in poketechopia then we'll probably be getting back out to try and find that snorunt again."

Hopefully third time would be the charm there. Anubis snorted. "Berry master, that's me. Take care of the trees, get berries from the Berry King, harvest 'em...yep..." This really was more faith's department, or it was supposed to be, but his trainer was already gone, and the leafeon was curled around the eggs that weren't going to be hers much longer.

The lucario sighed, and watered the tree, collecting the ripe fruits off the one, and storing the pair of them while he waited for his trainer to return from his poketechopia errand.

OOC TIEM:

I just figured all the research in the last one deserved something. And now I fix this post to something better.

Ben spends the night, gets up, finds replies to his messages. Sends the one eevee egg off to Albion. Collects 10K in return. I'll deposit that for the moment. One of the other hamsters is with me in an egg slot for the moment. The third is in reserve for Floyd in exchange for a cross-world trip and an elemental plate of some kind. Yay.

Bank: 92,132

I have 1.8 :gexp from here, 2.1 from modding.

1.5 to Tangela. Evolves to Tangrowth since she knows Ancientpower.
1.5 to Swinub. Evolves to Piloswine.

Leaves .9 which I bank for now.

Party switching occurs:

Granbull, Lucario, Smeargle, Arcanine. APL of 39.

Egg in Egg Slot 1, Mystique in Egg Slot 2.

OFF TO FIND SNORUNT. I hope. ._.

"Snooor?" Ben smiled a little as the snorunt wandered about the center curiously, exploring every nook and cranny. She was a rather curious one, so much so that Mystique was hiding atop the highest shelf to evade any further inspection by the creature as Ben switched his party around once more.

Two flashes of trees being sent back out got her attention and she turned to them as well, squeaking in amazement at the sudden existence of berry trees where there hadn't been any. So, over she went. Ben chuckled and let her examine them for a time, then cleared his throat. Best to get down to business, then.

"All right then, milady. You wanted to know what a Dawn Stone was, I believe...or at least were curious..." He knelt down, digging the stone out of his pocket. He'd gotten it in a tournament ages ago, with the idea of getting a gallade someday, but then...well. Still, one couldn't go wrong here, as she squeaked interestedly and scuttled over as he held it out in his hand. "So, a Dawn Stone is an evolution stone, one which can evolve you, if you wish, into a Frosslass. Now, I'm not certain..."

He might as well have been preaching to the choir. The snorunt made a grab for it halfway through his speech, snatching it out of his fingers to more closely inspect it. Evolution stone? Make her evolve? It sounded interesting, and she didn't think further than that. And naturally, upon contact with the stone, it flared brightly and she let out a startled squeak.

Ben yelped, as well, as the flare of evolution manifested itself right up close and personal with his aura sense. "By Arceus..!" he shook his head bemusedly, as a faint chiming sound, and a settling of silk whispered through the center.

"Frossss..." the soft hiss caused an involuntary shiver. Or perhaps the fact that the temperature dropped a few degrees this close to her was the cause, but in any case, one problem was solved he supposed.

"Well, my Lady...do you like the name Elaine?" he ventured.

'Oh, I think it will do...' He jumped slightly at the chiming voice in the back of his head, and couldn't help but shiver again at it. 'I think it'll do fine...'

Kinda-maybe fishing for happy points. *coughs* Or something.

There are no words to express how happy the Snorunt was. After all, this was what it had come along for! This was, without any shadow of a doubt, exactly what it had been hoping for. And such a pretty name, too... so beautiful. It suited this new form, which it studied with some interest. It was white now! And had legs! And a cute little bow-tie.

Oh, yes. This human was very, very good.

All of the good. So much.

Your fishing has netted you two :happiness - mainly for fulfilling all of the things you had promised it, and the things it had been looking for. Yes, this was a rather ideal situation, wasn't it? The Snorunt- excuse me, the Froslass- was now exceptionally pleased with what had happened.

Elaine pirouetted in place, admiring herself, floating perhaps an inch or so above the ground, as Ben fought off the vaguely chill feelings that she emanated now. It wasn't her fault, really, since he could tell she was quite happy indeed, pleased with her form, and with him for taking her in and gifting her stone that had facilitated this transformation.

He picked the stone off the floor where it had clattered upon her evolution, forgotten now by the delighted lady, feeling the warmth gone from it. It was little more than a dull blue sphere, now, perhaps pretty, but the virtue of it was gone. He pocketed it, pulling the rest of the pokeballs he'd switched around out of his pocket. One of them he held for several long moments, musingly, then slipped back away. Now was not necessarily the best time to be releasing him. At least, not with all the others. In a moment, perhaps...

"Here are the others I spoke of, milady," he spoke, releasing the others one after another. First was a odd green mushroom creature, next the digital pokemon, all angles and shapes, then a wise little fox lady, and last, a small boy with what looked like a bowl cut in a white robe. "Shroomish, Porygon, Abra, and Ralts."

The four looked around with some bemusement, then up at the froslass as she turned her attention to them. 'Oh my...they are aDORable!' Well, that was a relief, as was the fact that even though she obviously liked them all upon sight, she didn't swoop in to give them frosty hugs.

'Um, hello, milady,' the ralts intoned after a moment, bowing to Elaine politely, then looked over to Ben, bowing again. 'I...suppose you are the trainer who adopted me from the center, like they said, then, as well? I am pleased to make your acquaintance.' The trainer smiled faintly to that.

'Oh, surely. It is good to see the outside again, I must say,' another voice floated into his head, and Ben shook his head in bemusement. He'd never had this many pokemon out at once all communicating with him. It was an odd sensation, to say the least. The abra stretched, then settled upon his shoulder, eliciting a yap from the dark kit hiding atop a cabinet.

"Mysti, be nice. Yes, indeed, little sir, that would be me. I'm Ben Summers, and the naughty little lady hiding up on the shelves is Mystique," he spoke politely, introducing the two of them to the others.

'I see. Good to meet you two, milady...but I fear you have the better of me. I don't recognize you,' the ralts spoke again, bowing to the zorua this time, who settled down a little, mollified, as Elaine giggled in delight at all the cuteness. Oh yes, she liked this a great deal.

The porygon drifted nearer to Ben, thoughtfully. A moment later, the pokedex in Ben's pocket beeped abruptly, and Ben blinked, pulling it out. "Error. Pokemon is not found in database. No information found. Elucidate?"

"What the..." Ben rocked back on his heels, nearly dropping the device. He hadn't gotten Strom out. But then, Porygon also had affinities with electronics, didn't they? "You, then, my good sir?" he asked once he'd recovered from the surprise, turning his attention to the digital creature, and the dex peeped again.

"Affirmative. Elucidate?" Ben was suitably impressed. Strom hadn't been able to get the thing to go outside its already programmed statements, but here this creature was diddling it to say things he wasn't even sure were anywhere in the vocabulary. One supposed that was a difference between possessing it and being able to reprogram it.

"Well, I'm not sure what she is either. She's a bit of a mystery, hatched out of an egg I got as a prize in a tournament. I wish I could explain it better, but...well. There it is."

"Zorua," Mystique huffed softly from atop her cabinet, looking down at all these pokemon suspiciously.

"And you had better behave too, foxy lady," Ben admonished, with a faint smile. She merely sneezed, contriving to look innocent as she curled into a ball of fur, watching over her fluffy tail as they continued.

'She is adorable, too...' Ben paused at Elaine's coo, then decided to move on as the frosslass drifted around everyone dreamily. The shroomish edged away from her, looking a bit disgruntled to be the only one who couldn't convey his words to the trainer directly out of the bunch.

"But anyhow...I've been giving it some thought, and I think that I have names for everyone, too," Ben commented, turning to the shroomish first, having sensed the disgruntlement. "You, my good sir, I think I'd like to call you Bercilak, if you don't mind. The Green Knight, warrior of nature. Considering your eventual evolution, surely suitable, and quite suited even now, I'd say. Do you like it?"

The shroomish blinked up at his trainer, mulling that over before breaking into the first smile he'd shown since being release. "Mish." Indeed, he did kind of like the sound of that.

"I'm glad you approve," Ben smiled, carefully patting the creature. He didn't think Bercilak had Effect Spore as an ability, but it didn't hurt to be careful. "Now, for you, sirrah, I think Galahad. The pure knight, innocent," he said, turning to the ralts.

'Galahad...' Ben could sense the pokemon feeling the emotions and some of the thoughts associated with the name, glancing over to Elaine, before nodding slowly. 'I think I like it, yes...but I don't know if I'm really worthy of it...'

"You are, don't worry, young one." Ben patted the domed hair gently. Elaine giggled again, swooping around everyone.

''Tis a perfect name for you. Such wonderful children...'

Ben decided not to comment on how that statement could sound kind of wrong, as the porygon and shroomish edged slightly away from the lady. He considered, then turned to the next pokemon. "And you, my digital companion, I thought Kay might work for you. If you don't mind."

"A name is a name. I am not picky, it is good." Ben jumped as his pokedex spoke again. That would take getting used to. But that left one pokemon of those assembled.

"And you, milady..." he hesitated a moment. He'd been more than half expecting a male when he'd taken an abra from the tournament, as he reached up to scratch behind one ear as she perched lightly on his shoulder. She had been following his thoughts through the entire naming process, however, delicate and unobtrusive, hardly noticed. But what to name her?

'Well, if it's all the same to you, I think I like Ninive. It fits in well, I think, with the rest of the names, and well, I don't think I'm a very good Merlin, anyhow.' Laughter rang in his head, and Ben smiled after a moment, shaking his head.

"I suppose it does. Though I don't know where you've got Excalibur, then..."

'Oh, I have my ways.' The little psychic fox smiled a secret fox smile at that, as Ben laughed.

"Well enough then..."

Happiness again, maybe, if it warrants, but mostly just wasting time while waiting for stuff.

There was nothing quite like behind accepted. It was somewhat scary to be released from stasis, not knowing anything about where you would end up. What would the trainer be like? The other pokemon? To be among those in the same situation, to be given names that fit themselves and the others around them, went a long way to banishing doubts about whether they were accepted. The presence of Elaine, even if her choice of words left something to be desired, as a motherly figure of sorts, further helped.

A :happiness for each of the young pokemon for their warm welcome.

Ben headed over to check his berry trees as the five pokemon got better acquainted with each other, noting that the Sitrus tree needed water, and had a ripe berry hanging from it's branches as well. Handy. He gave it the water it wanted, then plucked the berry, storing it with the rest of his berries. His hand slipped back into his pocket, closing around the last pokeball once more, fingering it uneasily.

He pulled it out after another minute or so, holding it thoughtfully in his fingers. He took a deep breath, letting it out slowly as he considered the situation, then finally, pressed the release catch. A flash of red released one last pokemon into the center, green and white as the small ralts was, but every line of him speaking warrior instead of child.

'Hel~lo, who is this?' Elaine broke off her warm chattering with the children as she caught sight of his physique. 'Pardon me children.' She drifted over, studying the gallade avidly, before offering him a coquettish smile. 'I do not believe we have had the pleasure of meeting, handsome sir. I am Elaine...' she began, looking through her eyelashes demurely at him.

However, he waved her off, glowering at the trainer. 'What do you want?' The words were clipped, and the ghostly female's eyes narrowed as he brushed her off, for a moment appearing almost tattered as she eyed him, quite displeased at being dismissed so casually. The temperature in the center seemed to plummet. Ben waited for the other shoe to fall, tensing unconsciously.

'Lady Elaine?' The momentary chill and tattered kimono vanished as Galahad stepped forward, almost timidly, holding a hand up to the ghostly matron.

'I'm sorry, dearie. You're right, we should get back to the others.' She turned away, casting a look back over her shoulder at the warrior, calculatingly. This wasn't over.

Ben let out the breath he hadn't been aware he was holding. "Nothing, really, specifically. I just...thought you might like some time out of the pokeball, and I thought you might like to meet some of my other pokemon and they might like to meet you." The warrior to shot him another look, then surveyed Ben's current team carefully this time. Elaine fluttered at him again as he looked her way, then glowered as he turned away again.

'What game are you playing now?' Ben sighed.

"No games, Gallade. I promised I would stop treating you like a leper last time we spoke. None of my 'guardians,' as it were, are present. I trust you." The psychic's eyes narrowed, and Ben felt a faint touch at the back of his mind and shook his head abruptly. "Or are you so unwilling to believe that?" He wasn't going to get angry with the pokemon. He was tired of all these shenanigans. He'd made a promise, and he intended to keep it for the nonce, even if the gallade didn't seem to be keeping his end of the bargain.

The psychic glared, taking a step forward, as if he had sensed that throught, which it was possible he had. Ben took a step back, uneasily, then another, as the warrior advanced. The gallade was radiating anger and irritation as he continued to push his trainer back until the human bumped into a cabinet and stopped. They stood there, a silent contest of wills, in a strange sort of non-stare down, since one of them was unable to see.

'Um, sir?' The gallade's gaze snapped around, breaking the deadlock. Nothing. He then turned his gaze downward, to the ralts standing beside his ankle. Not far away, Elaine floated, watching him, expression unreadable. 'Why are you so angry?' The gallade blinked and stared down at his pre-evolution. Had it been so long since he was that small? That...young and innocent? He could just ignore the small creature, yet...

"This is Galahad. I thought he could use a mentor when I saw him in the adoption house."

'You thought I needed a student?' The gallade whipped his gaze back to Ben, getting irritated all over again. The nerve of this human, assuming that he'd want anything of the sort.

Ben shrugged. No point in denying it. "Not exactly student, but I thought you two could learn from each other, perhaps." There was simple honesty in the statement, as the ralts hesitantly touched the gallade's leg.

'Sir? You haven't answered my question. Please?' Their gazes met, and a long silence passed, before the warrior sighed.

'I was stolen from my trainer, and she was murdered.'

'Ben Summers killed her?' Galahad blinked, looking over at his new trainer, suddenly wary. He didn't seem like a killer, though.

'No, he did not. He merely accepted me in a trade from the one who did.' The warrior shook his head at that. As if he would have let him live if that were the case.

'Oh...' The ralts considered that for a long time, then looked up again. 'Did he know what had been done to you when he traded for you?'

'....no.' The answer was wrung almost unwillingly from the warrior, but he couldn't lie. He'd read Ben's mind, ripped the knowledge out without asking or a care.

'You feel guilty, and angry with him. Why are you mad at him if he didn't knowingly steal you, and didn't kill your trainer?' Galahad spoke again, quietly, as Ben shifted slightly, uncertain whether he should be privy to this conversation, but not getting excluded from it, as he knew the two could. It still didn't feel quite right to eavesdrop.

'I cannot find her killer and avenge her.' The warrior's mindvoice was almost subdued when he spoke again at last.

'Ben Summers is stopping you?' the ralts was relentless in his questions, causing the gallade to shift uneasily.

"If it truly is your wish to leave forever, I would not stop you. However, I would also help you as I can, in finding this Eisen..." Ben spoke up, as the silence stretched. Again, nothing but truth. "It is easier with more allies, to find one person in a large world..."

'Again, though, I wonder: Why are you angry with Ben Summers, sir?'

'....' The gallade turned away at last, without answering the question, as Ben straightened up, he tensed slightly.

"You're welcome to stay or go, but I do wish you'd stay. We do care about you, and would like to help if we can." Ben stood there quietly, for several moments, then sighed as there wasn't a response. "And I don't know if you had a name before, since you never answered when I asked once, and I don't know that I have any right to use it anyhow if you did. However, if you want one now...I would call you Lancelot. The brave." He hesitated a moment, then turned away. "He was a knight fallen from grace, but I have generally considered him a good and brave man despite his mistakes. And he did try to make up for them. Like I believe you wish to."

He headed off to kneel beside Bercilak after that, leaving the newly dubbed Lancelot alone with his thoughts and a small ralts staring almost mournfully up at him.

Well, I think we've seen what I'm doing by now. Have at?

So much anger against the one known as Eisen was being shared. Such was the way of things; common ground could be found and, quite simply, there was no other way that Ben could bond with the Gallade. However, both a fitting name and such a bond that could be shared between himself and the Gallade was enough to, at least slightly, improve his disposition towards you. That was a start. You always had to start somewhere with these sorts of things, and common ground was the best. Similar interests made friendships. Even if this wasn't so much an interest and more of a... common enemy. Still, it was something.

Lancelot, as he was henceforth known, gains two :happiness for such treatment. It was, at the very least, a good start.

The Berry King also decided that you were to be showered with a Watmel and a pink Apricorn. What luck! The universe was, without any doubt, smiling down upon you.

Collecting Cerby's cash and depositing 9,800 of it into bank, using the other 200 to buy more fudge. Woo! One for Elaine, one for Sneasel. 104,175 in bank.

Giving one Watmel to Gallade, another to Sneasel, to remove angrydots. Leaves me with the one I got from the BK just now. Woo!

Depositing Shroomish, Porygon, Ralts and Abra. Taking out Leafeon, Vaporeon and Sneasel. Again, since I don't plan to keep this lineup, not going to bother with APL unless asked.

Round and round we go...

Ben left the small group out for a while, getting to know them and their personalities, aside from Lancelot, whom he already knew a little too well on occasion. The gallade hovered at the outskirts of the group of young pokemon, as the motherly Elaine regaled them all with stories of her times in the forest, and Ben went off to look at his messages and handle some business. He didn't trust Mysti left to her own devices, so collected her before heading out. A trip to the Berry King and one of the shops took only a few minutes, and without a word, he handed the berry he'd gotten to Lancelot.

The gallade watched him go over to Elaine, who had since gotten the children engaged in a game of tag and offer her some chocolate, before moving to the computer. It was only then that the warrior ate the berry, still contemplative.

Ben opened up a window to poketechopia, checking it out. There was Celeste's second message, and he smiled faintly at it, debating replying again, but deciding against it for the moment. Another new offer, from an OME member, as well, asking for an Eevee as well. He pondered the name, recalling it being on the roster, but little else. He hadn't spent a great deal of time getting to know the new people before the whole VP mess happened, so he couldn't really place much to the name. Still, being in the OME, he was likely all right.

A quick reply to that done, he turned away, and sighed, recalling the now sleeping young pokemon and sending them back to the PC for now, considering quietly. There was that sneasel he'd caught earlier, that would likely be most upset over the circumstances, or his own pokemon to visit with. With a sigh, he made three selections, returning Caligo and Faith to the center, letting the pair take care of the berry trees, as Elaine turned her attention fully back to the troubled Lancelot.

He left them alone, for the most part, considering the last pokeball. A final flash of light, and a dozing feline form revealed itself, curled up on the floor.

He decided it wisest to wait, letting the cat-weasel finish her nap. She was likely going to be upset enough at the surroundings change and being captured that he wasn't about to go and start off on even worse footing by waking her up himself to find it out. He turned to the other pokemon, as "Lancelot, I have been looking into the matter of Eisen, and trying to find out what I could. While I was with the OME, I found her listed as a member of Team Rocket, and suspected of several thefts, including your own, of course."

The gallade turned away from the female immediately, to her further disgruntlement, focusing on the trainer. "Unfortunately with them disbanded, there isn't much else that can be said. There hasn't been much of anything heard of her since she was in the Brightopolis area, which was some time ago." He hated giving bad news, but better to be honest.

'Since around there is where she killed my trainer and stole me and I presume my other companions, that was a long time ago...' the warrior mused quietly, brows furrowing. Elaine fluttered nearby in vain, trying to turn his thoughts away from this woman. Why had she gone so quiet after then? Because Team Rocket basically fell apart, or what?

Ben shrugged, and was about to continue this actually civil discussion (a first with the gallade), when a shocked shriek of fury distracted everyone. Ben turned his attention swiftly back to the weasel-cat, holding his hands out placatingly. "Shh...it's all right, please. I beg your pardon, ma'am. I just didn't want you to end up disturbed..." he broke off with a yelp, yanking his fingers back to prevent them getting sliced off by a swipe of the panicked and furious creature's claws. Lancelot smirked slightly at the sight.

"Sneaaaa...." she squealed again, gaze darting around the center, fixing on the gallade and froslass, then back to the human who held his hands up again, trying to look as inoffensive as possible. It had to be his fault, right? Where was her tree, her branch, her home?

"You kind of fell into my lap, milady, and then curled up there, and then some things attacked. I didn't want you hurt, and so...here we are." Ben explained a bit hurriedly. "I'm sorry for that, but I'd like to try and make it up to you." He hesitated a moment, then plowed on as the sneasel crouched, back arched, torn between bolting and trying to shred in a panic what was in front of her.

"If you want to stay with me, you won't have to fight for survival or your dinner any more, I won't force you to battle if you don't wish to, and I'll do my best to help you achieve any goals you might have. I'm sorry again for the distress I've caused you already. Here." He held out his hands again, this time offering two items, a juicy watmel berry, the other a bit of fudge.

All women had a soft spot for chocolate, right?

Yep, more happiness fishing.

Sometime, a wise trainer may have said that the most dangerous type of pokemon were the ones who were cornered and frightened. It certainly seemed like the truth now. What had been a creature downright cuddly by sneasel standards had rapidly turned into a ball of fur, teeth, and sword-like claws due to disorientation and fear. No one liked to wake up in a strange place surrounded by strange people. Still, at least you had an explanation handy, one that actually made sense. And you had food!

Either the sneasel had a weakness for sweets, or she was just as ravenously hungry as it seemed all wild pokemon were, or both, because it didn't seem to take much coaxing for her to devour the offered food. The fudge was clearly wonderful, the berry was heavenly, and she seemed intent to groom every last bit of chocolate and berry juice from her fur and claws.

You seemed to have her interest now, after that. At least you'd averted death-by-slashing. At some point in time, it would probably reach the sneasel's notice that it was warm in here, too. In addition to what was earned through the sweet treats, the little weasel gets one more :happiness point.

Ben relaxed slightly as the cat-weasel devoured the sweets eagerly and then searching for any speck of missed tastiness. He couldn't tell if she just hadn't been eating well, or just had a soft spot for sweets, but at least she was calming down, now. He lowered his hands carefully, and kept talking, keeping his voice low and soothing.

"I've got plenty more where those came from, and none of my pokemon ever go hungry." He dug into his stash of berries, coming up with a Pomeg berry, offering it as well to the sneasel. Mysti hopped down from her hiding spot at last, scampering over to claim Ben's shoulders as her own, earning a slightly disgruntle mutter from the leafeon curled up around the berry trees. But Faith had the berry trees to take care of, and she took that seriously, and Cal was draped possessively over her back anyhow, making her positioning far too comfortable to go fighting over Ben's shoulders over.

He cocked his head as the sneasel finished licking up any trace of watmel out of her fur and looked around, really, for the first time. Ben settled down, in the same position he'd been under the tree when she'd fallen into his lap, and waited, letting her explore, and register the warm cosiness of the place. He could explain that she could see the world with him, but the cat struck him as something of a homebody, in a sense. Not the sort that cared about that sort of thing. She wanted comfort and peace. Very unusual for a sneasel as he understood it.

But that wasn't a bad thing. Everyone was different, after all. He just left his lap there, if she noticed or cared to try it out now that she was awake, and considered carefully as she explored and came to realize that while here, there was no trees really here for perching, the warmth of the place penetrated. After a time, he spoke again. "Yin. You are Yin. Tranquility, night, and of course, femininity." He smiled slightly. "It is also associated with cold and water, thus ice. Yin." He nodded to himself. If she didn't like it, he'd keep thinking, but he thought it was a perfect name for such as her. "Do you like it?"

Feeding Sneasel my pomeg berry (medium flavor, +1 :happiness and EV stuff I don't pay attention to), and naming her Yin.

This place was indeed different. She didn't need to hide in tree branches to protect herself from harsh winter air here. As fear faded, cautious curiousity took its place. There was no hesitation to gobble down the other berry like the first, and the weasel pokemon was allowed to explore in careful, graceful movements of the body and quick but observant movements of the eyes. She took in the strange little trees that were far too small to sleep in, along with the pokemon who she assumed were protecting them. She tapped a claw experimentally on the floor; hard, but not cold.

And then she had a name. Yin blinked up at you at the question. Did she like it? She sat down, ears pricked forward, red eyes looking from you to the little fluffy thing on your shoulder, and thought about it.

"Snea..." A tranquil, feminine creature of the night. Seemed about right, in her own humble opinion. "Snea." Yes, she decided that she liked that name very much. She especially liked the fact that it was her choice to make. (+1 :happiness for the new name)

Still, you had taken her without permission, despite your reasons for doing such. That lack of choice lingered in her mind, despite the good things you were doing now. The terror had left her, but she still didn't venture into your lap. She wasn't quite yet one of your affectionate, obedient pokemon, but she didn't look inclined to try to flee into the harshness of winter again.

Pulling out 500 for a salon trip for sneasel. I'd do one for gallade, too, but I can't shake the feeling that he'd come out with a bow and anger instead of happiness. ._. Even though I know it don't work that way.

Collecting Tutor/Egg Moves for Piloswine.

Sketching with Bob Ross! Toxic (vaporeon/mightyena), Spore (shroomish), Thunder Wave (pachirisu/rotom), Confuse Ray (rotom/vulpix/xatu), Will-O-Wisp (vulpix), Teleport (abra/xatu/ralts), Endeavor (piloswine). That is 7 of 8 current slots filled (2 from level, 2 advance, 4 TM/Tutor). While I'm thinking about it.

3.0 :gexp so far from journey, 12.9 from modding.
12.0 to :ninjavap , making him level 30. Learns Bite as a Natural Move, Aqua Ring becomes new Advance Move. Taught the Brine TM with level 25 TM/Tutor slot.
1.2 to :granbull (0.3 :exp ), making her level 43. Learns Take Down.
Leaves me 2.7 :gexp . Banking.

Ben left the sneasel to make her own decisions, smiling a little as she liked the name. He had thought it was well suited to her unique personality. She could leave if she really wanted to, but she didn't seem completely inclined to. Of course, Ben never fully understood the mechanisms that made up a pokeball, or how they worked, tying the pokemon to the trainer wielding it, but he didn't insist upon absolute obedience from his pokemon.

He'd consider offering her another berry or two, but he didn't want to make her ill. And it wasn't like

To be honest, he liked them to think for themselves. Even if he couldn't understand a lot of them. He left her to her own devices and considered the other four he had out currently, thoughtful. Hopefully Floyd would return soon. Not that he was looking forward to what would come after, but...

He considered, then stood up. "Well, milady, I think I've got one more thing to show you. If you don't mind, that is." He recalled Lancelot and Elaine, leaving the two eeveelutions to guard his trees in the center, and gestured to Yin with a faint smile. The sneasel looked wary.

"Come on. It's nothing bad, I promise. I think you'll like it, actually. You can hitch a ride, or walk with me if you prefer." He could also recall her and just take her along, but that would kind of defeat the purpose of trying to make up to her catching her in the thing.

Salt in the wound, as it were. He waited for her to decide, before pushing the door open, wincing a little at the blast of cold. Mystique fluffed up, burrowing into his coat to avoid the chill. Sure, she could deal with it, but she wasn't going to if she didn't have to. Still, Ben kept quiet as they wandered through the mostly repaired city, pausing only at an ATM to pull out some cash from his nicely growing bank account. He'd spent long enough in the city by now to have memorized its layout, which was handy.

He didn't have to consult anything to get to where he was going, which would likely serve only to pique the feline's curiosity. At last they stopped before a cheery little shop, and Ben smiled a little. "Here we go." He pushed the door open, causing the bells to chime welcome.

"Hello, welcome to the Pokemon Salon! How may I help you?" Ben hesitated a moment or two, having never actually been inside the building before now. He felt the sneasel shrink against him a little uneasily, and he gently scratched behind her feathered ear.

"It's all right, lady. They won't hurt you any. They're just going to pamper you a bit. Make you even more beautiful, since I'm sure you already are beautiful." He smiled a little. Flattery, but hey. She still didn't feel certain, and he turned to the receptionist. "So...what exactly would you do for this sneasel, please?"

"Well, we would give her a bath, if she wished one." They weren't about to bathe a cat that didn't like water, at least, that was good. "And groom out her fur, polish her claws, give her a massage to work out any tenseness from battle she has, and if she wishes, we would style her fur. We seek to please the desires of each customer and their unique desires." The lady smiled at Yin, welcomingly.

"So, sound so bad, still, Yin? I certainly know I appreciate a good massage..." He let the feline go of her own accord with the groomers, laying the funds down on the counter. "She's spent a lot of time recently out in the forest, in the cold," he added to the receptionist, hoping they'd make her comfortable, while he settled down to wait.

It was going to be a while, considering he couldn't read the magazines even if he wanted to.

0.3 :gexp2 ((Figured I'd have a little fun with this.))

As Yin followed the groomers, her aura still rippling with uncertainty, she cast one last quick glance at you. The things that could happen over the course of a day, huh? One minute she's hoarding all the warm she can in a forest, the next she's about to get pampered by a bunch of humans. And a bath. Hopefully, the water would be warm, rather than the icy stuff back out in the woods.

Then, all there was to do was wait. A full pampering session certainly wasn't going to be short, and, well, you'd want to get your money's worth anyway, right? This may very well what would finally tip the scales and eliminate the last of her unease about the whole situation. Sitting around with nothing to do for however long Yin's spa treatement would last was surely worth it.

That didn't make it any less boring.

The door opened not long after you'd sat down, and a woman strolled her way toward the receptionist's desk. The clomping sound of her footsteps indicated that she was wearing some kind of high-heeled boot, and her aura was slightly nervous, and a bit embarassed. Another aura, soft, young, and joyful, was huddled in her arms. Even if you didn't recognize the species by feel or check your pokedex, the exuberant squeal of, "Vee!" the pokemon let out upon seeing the receptionist was evidence enough.

What hearing or lifeforce-feeling couldn't reveal was the fact that this woman was about six foot four, and looked like she was trying to compromise between being warm and looking like a biker chick, with a jet black coat and red scarf with a skull pattern, knee-high heeled boots and thick gloves with skulls on their back, and a winter hat that a pattern on golbat's gaping mouth. The eevee in her arms was small and particularly fluffy, with bright pink fur that was clearly a temporary colouring, due to the fact that it was starting to fade.

"The usual for Mr. Tyson?" the receptionist asked, not bothering to hide her amusement.

Oh yeah, did I forget to mention that the eevee was male, too?

"Yes," the woman mumbled, handing over the money and clomping over to the chairs as her eevee leaped out of her arms and sped off to be groomed like a little pink bullet. She sat down not fair from where you were, muttering things about addictions to shampoo, gender confusion, and coming back smelling like strawberries. Then there was a faint 'blip blip bloop' as she turned on her Poketech and started playing some kind of retro game on it, content to ignore the world until her pokemon came back.

Then the doors opened again, and another woman came in, practically prancing her way to the desk. Head-to-toe in pink, her boots were of the fur-lined winter variety, and she spouted mittens, a puffy coat, and a skitty-ear hat. Behind her pulsed the aura of a pokemon who did not want to be here, a scyther who was glaring at the back of her trainer's head like she was trying to burn a hole through it.

She seemed blissfully unaware of this as she chirped to the receptionist. "I need a massage and scythe polishing for Tink here," she said, gesturing proudly at the praying mantis, who showed interest at the mention of polishing but scowled at the use of her nickname. The reception was a little nervous, rightfully so, but took the money and allowed the bug to walk off to be groomed, head held high despite the clear distaste for the entire establishment.

The scyther trainer quickly moved to join the eevee trainer, plopping down next to her. She stay silent, squirming in her seat and pulling off her hat, for about two seconds before she leaned over and tried to engage to other woman in conversation. "You're getting a pokemon pampered too, huh?"

The eevee trainer looked up, irritation rippling through her aura, and fixed her with a look that quite eloquently said, 'Why else would I be here?' She then refocused on her game.

She didn't seem to care, and keep chatting on. "I don't normally come around here much, but I just got Tinkerbelle and the poor sweetie's missing her old trainer. She's got some stress issues, too. Hopefully they can work out that knot between her shoulders. I think she got injured there once. It's a pretty good price for the smount of work they do, huh?" Despite the eevee trainer going the extra mile to not so much as twitch in reply to the flowing river of one-sided conversation, it seemed to do nothing more than encourage her.

That was your entertainment for the next while, it seemed, listening to the chatty girl ramble on to someone who was slowly making her way from mildly annoyed to considering homocide over the span of time.

Eventually, though, it had to end, and a familiar aura scampered into the room. "Introducing," a groomer announced, not realizing that the trainer of her newest masterpiece was blind, "The new and improved miss Yin!"

And, indeed, there was Yin, fur clean and sleek like silk, claws polished and smoothed from their formerly rough and wild appearance, feathers and gems both brighter and more vibrant than before, smelling faintly of vanilla, and looking more relaxed than she had since she'd first woken up. You didn't know if Yin had ever been the vain type, but she certainly seemed happy with herself as she crossed the room and easily bounded into your lap.

That seemed to be that, now. She was yours. (+ 3 :happiness )

Need Watmel Berry 2-4 mod, plox.

Ben cocked his head slightly as people made their way in, breaking up the monotony of doing nothing for a long time. He'd been mostly mulling over who to take along when he went for the HM, but the people were far more interesting than idle speculation. The first was...interesting indeed. A woman who reminded him rather a bit of Brandi, toting a fluffy eevee that screamed frou frou at him somehow.

He decided against commenting about the mutterings of shampoo addiction and gender confusion, considering he had no idea on the former and the latter he couldn't really argue. He'd never sensed a male aura that screamed 'I'm a lady' more than that fuzzball.

He was lucky he couldn't see the pink, at least.

He turned his thoughts to his other pokemon, wondering if he should actually consider bringing any of them in later, while waiting for Floyd. Lancelot certainly could use some cheering up...

He cast that thought aside rather hurriedly as the next two auras stepped in, one an excited lady, the other a pokemon that obviously didn't want to be here. Yeah. He would like to keep his head attached, he would. Granted, the bug had seemed to like the idea of getting his scythes polished, at least. Though listening to her prattle on and on and on to the tough lady was educational to say the least. It seems that she'd acquired the Scyther in a trade herself.

So perhaps it was possible, but he doubted bringing the gallade here would improve the warrior's disposition. Oh well. They'd figure out something eventually. And there was still a quest for a HM to worry about. Most of the rest of his waiting was spent half-listening to the woman who had brought the bug in with some amazement - who thought a person could talk that much? - and the rest thinking on the trial to come.

A beast appears close
In the city of ghosts
But then if you stare
It's not really there.

Not really there...that hinted at some sort of illusion, it did. He idly reached up to stroke the dozing fox around his shoulders. He'd had a bit much experience with illusion of late than he'd have preferred. Illusions fooled the eyes. Perhaps since he couldn't see, he would have an advantage there, but he doubted it. It couldn't be that easy.

It was about then that a groomer entered from the back again, trailed by a familiar aura. Ben smiled faintly at the announcement presentation, then smiled further as the delighted felinoid creature leapt right into his lap. "Snea..." she purred, and he gently reached down to smooth a hand along her fur, feeling how all the tenseness and reservation was gone from her aura, and her muscles were relaxed completely.

"I'm glad you approve, lovely lady..." he spoke quietly, careful not to muss her freshly groomed fur. It hadn't been a mess before, but now...it was soft like silk and he could tell she had had an absolutely wonderful time.

He just hoped she didn't end up addicted to shampoo or whatever.

"Well, my ladies, let's get going for now, then." He nodded his thanks to the people at the salon, and stepped back out. Floyd hopefully should be showing up soon, and he should start thinking about what team he wanted to take with him to take on the HM monster. Elaine, Lancelot and Yin certainly were not among the list of options. He and the gallade didn't trust each other enough to be a good idea in a highly dangerous situation, and he didn't know the other two really at all.

On the way back to the center, while Yin was sleeping, his tech buzzed. He sighed, making his way back to the center before checking it, even as it fizzled in his pocket, making him vaguely worried it was going to light on fire or something before he got there.

Once inside, he found Cal easily watering the watmel as Faith was plucking the fruits excitedly. "See, I told you it'd be worth it," he commented as she pranced over with the spoils. He recalled the sneasel and deposited the three into the PC for now. He really needed to get a better system for that. He had some thoughts, but he'd also gotten some interesting messages from Steely and Alex about some project they were working on. He'd probably head back to Hillmoss once he got the HM (IF he got the HM) to check it out and see if he could help.

He then pulled the sparking tech out of his pocket frowning at it. <Hihihi! Message from Cerb! Play, YesNo?>

"..." It took a moment for Ben to figure out what that was about, then he snorted softly. Cerby had her own Rotom...this wasn't the first time he'd encountered it, just the first time it had actually been in his own machinery. "Yes, please."

He listened to the whir, then the playback of Cerby's letter, curiously. A Sableye, was it? Interesting. A quick check of his pokedex, and he nodded. Dark indeed, but a ghost as well. Huh. There was a moment of idle speculation about the breeding of ghosts, and how they produced corporeal eggs, but he shoved it aside, as his tech fizzled again. "You'd better be careful in there or Strom will eat you, Frequency, was it?" His own rotom could, too, being much more powerful than Cerby's little one. "But hang on a sec and I'll give you a message to take back to Cerby, 'kay?" The poketech sparked, and he took that as a yes.

He thought a moment, then expertly opened the voice message application and started it recording. "Hey Cerby, good to hear from you, and I'm glad to hear that. Thanks for letting me know. I do suppose that explains the dark business Alfred and Anubis were going on about, anyhow. Sounds quite interesting, to say the least. Recover will be handy, certainly. All those chocolates I got from him were handy in preventing a homocidal gallade from taking off my head anyhow, but nothing more exiting than that. Sounds like you got the fun stuff.

"I wouldn't mind meeting up sometime to check her out, either, even if I can't see her pretty coloring, and no worries on the egg. I just hadn't had any takers, so figured why not. Probably won't be too soon, though...I'm going and being crazy suicidal or whatever and hitching a ride with Floyd to go after one of the HMs soon here. Don't know if you've gone for one or what, but...yeah. Fun times.

"Also, be wary. You placed, what, fourth in the last Grand Melee, right? That egg I got as a prize hatched into something totally off the charts recently. I'm not joking. The pokedex doesn't recognize what she is at all. Anubis and I have figured that she's pretty much a dark type, and a very problematic one. She got most of Slumber after our heads before we figured out what she was doing. She's apparently some sort of black fox..."

"Zorua?" Mystique woke up at that point, barking curiously as she recognized she was being spoken of and he hushed her.

"Hush you. That's her, yeah. I don't know what to do with her, since she can create illusions at will, making her look like anything. It's not a full transformation, since she didn't feel like an eevee when she looked like one. But yeah. No idea if I was just the lucky one, but I suspect not. Be on your toes, anyhow.

"But, in any case, provided the HM monster doesn't eat me, maybe we can meet up to compare notes or something then. I'm certain Anubis would enjoy seeing that egg. Talk to you later, Ben."
He poked the off button, and cocked his head at the device. "See she gets that, please, Frequency?" he asked politely, figuring giving the thing a purpose would make it leave without him having to resort to getting his own rotom out to exorcise it.

<Will do, yes! Bye~!> One more fizzle, and it was gone. He shook his head. If he could trust his rotom to provide links that weren't to inappropriate material, it might be nice to consider seeing if he'd do the same, but the thing's 'little' obsession was bad enough when it was possessing the pokedex.

He turned his attention back to the PC, and pulled Anubis and Jax out with a sigh. "Okay, guys. One, just got a message from Cerby. That wierd egg of hers was a sableye. Colored just like the egg was. So you guys'll know what that means. She says its really pretty. We might try seeing about meeting up with her a bit later to see and compare notes. She got a Melee egg herself, though I don't think hers has quite hatched yet, or if it has, it was pretty unremarkable." He scratched behind Mysti's ears thoughtfully.

"Sableye?" Anubis cocked his head to the side.

"Yeah. Dark ghost, it seems. Knows Recover, too. Egg move. Probably something else, according to Alfred. So yeah. Either way...Floyd likely will be showing up here soonish. For an egg, he's gonna let us hitch a ride on his ship so we don't have to walk across all three continents." Mystique, he was kind of stuck with. He wasn't quite sure he trusted the PC and pokeballs with totally foreign pokemon. He was probably being paranoid. Still, until he knew what all she was capable of, he didn't entirely trust leaving her unsupervised.

Jax and Anubis were givens. He wasn't sure about Faith and Caligo, though. A vague memory of an apologetic gyarados handing him a limp bundle of soggy fur caused him to shudder slightly and push the thought aside. Perhaps not Faith, anyhow. She was a bit frivolous...

He sighed faintly. Brandi would love the scrap, Goliath would see it as his duty to protect him, Shinobi the ninja would have as many or more uses as his son would...it was a tough call. He should also bring one of his Teleporters, but which one. Ross had Sketched it at one point, which would be interesting, but no. The smeargle would be shipped to the PC once he had news from the Scavian General. Maya had been with him the longest, and had helped - been instrumental, even - in the last quest for an HM.

Lancelot was out, for a lack of trust, And probably Ninive and Galahad were too inexperienced. However, they were also small. Small enough to perch on his shoulders.

Brother.

He pulled Brandi out, and mulled it over for a while, before sighing and recalling both Faith and Caligo, sending them into storage and pulling out both Maya and Ninive. If Neeruey was any indication, this was going to be a real challenge indeed. But if he could pull it off...it would be worth it. Once he got word from Floyd, he'd switch Ross for Shinobi, and be done with it, but he might as well let the smeargle keep the shop open for the moment, since he loved painting so.
