QUARTERLY AWARDS Welcome to the revamped Legacy Awards! While the main focus is still to recognize outstanding members and posts, we have altered the system slightly to accommodate certain flaws in the previous system. We are obviously still working on refining this system, but this is the closest to what we feel will be a better awards system. Every quarter, nominations will be open for all members! Nominations will be carried out by filling out a certain template, and only legitimate votes will be considered in the tabulation of the results! Compared to the previous Awards, we are now demanding more from the voters so as to truly identify the most fitting member to receive the prize, as opposed to a one-word affirmation of their efforts.
Category 1: Staff Awards! Nominations: - Most Valuable (staff) Person - Moderators - Most Valuable (staff) Person - SModerators Please state concrete examples as to why this person is valued above the rest. Figures (how many mods he's done, etc), quotes, links to evidence of exemplary modding, even anecdotal (true ones, please!) can be used to support your vote. But your vote must be substantiated to be included. Also, you cannot vote for the same person in both categories in a month. You also cannot vote for the same person in two consecutive quarters. You can, however, choose to abstain from voting if Category 2: Canon Awards! Nominations: - Best Freeform - Best Individual Post - Best Newbie (Newbie defined as a member who have joined us for less than last SIX months counting from the voting deadline of the current quarter) - Most Creative You have to write mini-reviews, comparing the freeform/individual post of your choice and at least two other freeforms/individual posts of the same period and justify why this freeform is the absolute best. We will read through your justification and see if your vote is valid. As usual, link to the posts and direct reference to the posts are appreciated. If you can demonstrate that you've read them and carefully considered them, the vote's valid. For Best Newbie/Most Creative, you can choose to vote with reference to multiple sources of evidence (eg: different posts for Most Creative illustrating creativity in expression, or different episodes in Chat/IC RPing/General Discussion threads to illustrate why this newbie is better than the others) For your entire vote to be valid, you must have a minumum of 2 valid votes from this category. You cannot nominate a person more than once in this category, but you can nominate for the same person you have nominated in other categories as well. You also cannot nominate a person for the same award if you have nominated for him/her in the last quarter, but you can nominate him for another award in the same category. You cannot nominate a person in the same category for more than two consecutive quarters. Category 3: Non-Canon Awards! Nominations: - Chat Whore - Special Award You don't really have to justify your choice here, but it'll be good to explain yourself in a line or two. You cannot vote for anybody in this category for more than 1 consecutive quarter. You can, however, choose to abstain from voting. |

YEARLY AWARDS After reading the above post, you may ask, 'We already have a Quarterly Awards blueprint. What's this Yearly Awards thing?' In addition to the awards given above, we feel that there is a need to recognize the efforts of particularly outstanding individuals that have displayed general consistency over the course of the year. For the Fall quarter of every year, we will include these awards in addition to the Quarterly Awards. Nominations are, again, open to all members and they have reference to the entire year worth of work. These awards will yield more fame and credit than the quarterly ones, and the prizes awarded will be more generous. Category 1: Staff Awards! Nominations: - Staff Member of the Year Again, please state concrete examples as to why this person is valued above the rest. Figures (how many mods he's done, etc), quotes, links to evidence of exemplary modding, even anecdotal (true ones, please!) can be used to support your vote. But your vote must be substantiated to be included. The staff member of choice can range from Member Mods to Elders. You may not vote for the same person in 2 consecutive years Category 2: Canon Awards! Nominations: - Best Role Player - Best Thread - Best Improvement - Most Distinguished Character Please present evidence supporting the basis of your vote, and explain carefully why the member should receive the award over the others. There will be a clear distinction between MCs and SCs for 'Best Thread' and 'Most Distinguished Character' awards. No mandatory votes in this category are required for your entire vote to be considered. You may not vote for the same person in any category if you have voted for him in the previous year. No names may be repeated as well: choose one category and abstain from the other if you truly feel compelled to. Category 3: Non-Canon Awards! Nominations: - Most Popular - Legacy Clown You don't really have to justify your choice here, but it'll be good to explain yourself in a line or two. You cannot vote for anybody in this category for more than 1 consecutive year. You can, however, choose to abstain from voting in this category. Edited by Kari, Oct 18 2010, 12:18 AM.

FAQs! As with any implementations of new systems, there will be a lot of questions asked. I will try to address the more frequently asked questions here.
A: There are 12 months and 4 quarters in a year. Considering the amount of awards given out if awards continue at a monthly (or worse, bi-weekly) rate, members may consider this to be a nifty way to exploit the system to get more rewards, since even 1k per 2 weeks will add up to a whooping 24k a year if you can abuse the system. We want to be rewarding quality posters with a token of recognition, as opposed to treat this system as a means of earning cash and rewards. Also, some months may have weak entries while others may have strong entries. By allowing you members to have a larger spread of posts to consider, we hope that you people can truly consider quality and not vote for the most prominent, perhaps even the only freeform eligible for consideration.
A: Well, this is to avoid people from parroting others and to allow members to truly qualify why they are voting for who they are voting. If you're allowed to just put in a name for any award, you may simply just put a familiar name just to be nice to the said friend. Or, you may vote according to your gut feeling as opposed to actual consideration of who should get it. We're not saying that voters are insincere. You are the ones that know if you're insincere or not. If you think someone deserves a reward, tell us why! If you feel strongly about someone getting recognized for a contribution, you will naturally find it worthwhile to vote properly. If you're just doing it half-heartedly, you may as well not do it.
Please note that the goody bag of delectable goods are mentioned here.
There are obviously 4 quarters in a year, with 3 months in each quarter. We follow the fiscal year system in America, so: Q1 - Oct to Dec. Nominations open around mid Oct/Nov, and end on 31st Dec. Posts from the 16th of Sept to the 15th of Dec are eligible for consideration. Results announced by end of January. Yearly awards are held at this time as well. Q2 - Jan to Mar. Nominations open around mid Jan/Feb. and end on 31st Mar. Posts from the 16th of Dec to the 15th of Mar are eligible for consideration. Results announced by end of April Q2 - Apr to June. Nominations open around mid Apr/May. and end on 31st June. Posts from the 16th of Mar to the 15th of June are eligible for consideration. Results announced by end of July Q2 - July to Sept. Nominations open around mid July/Aug. and end on 31st Sept. Posts from the 16th of June to the 15th of Sept are eligible for consideration. Results announced by end of Oct
A: You must qualify for every vote you send it. If we feel that you're smoking us, or if we sense that you've not read anything and just name-dropped for the sake of name-dropping, then we will not count your vote for that particular award. Votes will be read by the Admins, and contentious votes will be discussed unless it's clearly a troll/null vote. If you have less than 2 eligible votes in Cat 2, your entire vote will be nullified. So do well to secure the validity of your votes!
A: Examples, evidence, elaboration. That's all. And speak with your heart, not with your money-grubbing (if you ARE money-grubbing) head. We just want to hear your real voice, as opposed to tired ranting and dismissive voting. Just be sincere, because we don't want to give awards to people who won based on insincere votes. In other words, if you're not sincere about giving someone something, we won't be sincere about your vote either. An example will be... available when I vote. For now, enjoy the template.
