Adrenaline pumping, flowing through her veins. Arms around the sleek, cold, steel plates of her skarmory's neck. The mass of furry body heat pressed against her stomach, desperate not to fall from their mount. Wind rushing past her body, sending her unbound hair flying back. Ares was pure velocity, the large metal predator soaring just above the tips of the tall grasses. Celeste leaned forward, grasping his neck and sandwiching her poor poochyena, Ahurewa, between them. The trainer was determined to prove to her strange, feral canine that she wasn't mad over her 'failure' in the catching contest, and had invited her to join her as an honoured co-pilot in the flight. In hindsight, it may not have been the best way to prove a lack of ill will. Behind them was the loud buzzing of Sting's wings, her faithful beedrill carrying the Charti plant he had practically adopted in his arms. Flying circles around him, checking the plant periodically and occasionally flying ahead to where she and Ares were, was Hunter, the chatot on constant vigil. Down below was the rustling of grasses as, with bursts of speed, Aphrodite the lopunny, just barely tall enough to see over the foliage, crossed the distance with a look of concentration. Hidden by the wild grass was a precious Pichu Egg, strapped to her body with probably too many belts and wrapped up with probably too many blankets to ensure its safety. Last, Shilo the sneasel occasionally appeared leaping through the grasses just ahead of Aphrodite, slashing the tips from the tall blades or merely diving back out of sight; she actually seemed to be enjoying herself to some extent. They had nothing to find here, and no reason to linger. The Wildlands were merely ground to cover. Recent happenings had given Celeste a lot to think about and, above everything was a lingering homesickness she intended to cure. Sometimes it was better to just fly. --- Current Landmark: 4 Foot Grass 2 Planned Route: 4 Foot Grass 2 ---> (Hillmoss Grasslands) Hilly Area 1 ---> Grassland 3 ---> Hillmoss Pichu Egg: 9/20 Charti Berry Plant (Growth Mulch + Medium Compost): Berries 2/5, Watering 2/3 Edited by Vulpix Windchimes, Oct 15 2010, 06:57 PM.

.3 At the sheer velocity that Ares was moving, almost no Pokemon could come into his path. They moved aside, allowing the trainer and her armored bird Pokemon speed past; her whole posse that followed after too scared off most Pokemon, since they were grossly outnumbered. However, one Pokemon somehow blocked off the path. Was it sheer stupidity or confidence? Ares crashed right into one of them and he bounced off the reinforced skin of the bug. It was a Kakuna, a Pokemon that Sting once was. Skarmory was built powerfully, but this bug was obviously more experienced. He chose to stay in his form however, because it allowed him time to think. Most Kakuna broke out from their shell; but he never wanted to. He liked being at one spot, silent and mysterious. He didn't say a word, as his skin shone again in another Harden. Turning his eyes at Sting, he somehow gave a smile. Another one that succumbed to evolution. Oh, did I mention? This Kakuna was tall enough to impede Ares' path. He was a head taller than the tall grasses that grew in the wildlands. Will Celeste ignore him and continue on, or try to do something with this giant Kakuna? It wasn't like he could really move that swiftly... Level 24 ![]() ~Trying to block your path for some reason |

0.3 ![]() Those with a like of the comedic may insert the sound of record needle scratching here. Ares flailed backward mid-air, his passengers clinging to him for dear life as he tried to sake off the ringing in his ears. To him, it was like someone had put a pot over his head and hit it with a spoon. Celeste just sort of stared at the giant kakuna as the others caught up with them and joined her in the confusion. Compared to some other things she'd seen, this wasn't really all that bizarre. Not much topped a flying shroomish on the did-someone-slip-me-drugs meter. Still, the fact that it was right here in front of her for no apparent reason was a bit mind boggling. Ahurewa peered at the bug and snarled, but a firm, "No," from Celeste made her shrink back. Aphrodite idly cracked her knuckles, but didn't made any more overt a threat. After the initial shock wore off, her two birds actually seemed to be thinking about how soft and chewy the centre of this crunchy treat would be. Sting buzzed softly, curiously. He didn't really remember being anything like this, but part of him told him he must have been. It was Shilo who took action, leaping up from the grasses onto the head of her trainer's mount. Ares squawked in surprise and glared cross-eyed at the sneasel perching catlike on his beak, but she paid him no mind. Her expression calm, cool, every part the controlled warrior, she gave a bow and addressed the cacooned insect. "Honourable stranger, I am Shilo, of the Masakibe clan. We seek passage through these lands." She rose her claws, sunlight glinting off of the natural blades. "You are clearly strong, and if you seek to stop us, one of us would be honoured to meet you in a duel. We will turn back if you are the victor." Hunter nearly dropped the watering can as he heard this. He hurriedly flew to Celeste's side and whispered in her ear. Celeste was willing to extend a certain amount of decision-making ability to those pokemon who sought it, but, to him, it seemed like Shilo had overstepped a line. The trainer contemplated this for a moment. It wasn't her ideal solution, but if the kakuna accepted, she was willing to go along. She gave her chatot a gentle pat on the head. "Hunter, you want to face him if he says yes?" Hunter blinked. Him? Really? He nodded eagerly. "Yeah, sure!" Finally, he was going to get to fight a real, one-on-one battle! If the kakuna accepted in the first place, of course. --- Current Landmark: 4 Foot Grass 2 Pichu Egg: 10/20 Charti Berry Plant (Growth Mulch + Medium Compost): Berries 3/5, Watering 3/3 <watered> --- Offering a one-on-one battle if the kakuna accepts the challenge: Lvl 2163/63 vs Lvl 2472/72 |

.3 "Ha! You guys are funny." He trembled in silent laughter, huge body shifting just a tiny bit. He knew exactly what they were doing. He wasn't as stupid as they thought he was. Maybe somehow Kakuna gave off this vibe of being unaware, uncaring of the things that happened in the world, but everyone here knew about the Survival of the Fittest. That was the most basic law in the world; and most Pokemon evolved so they could survive. The fact that Kakuna didn't need to do that meant that there was something special about him. But that aside, he still rocked around laughing. He then finally stopped to reply, "You don't have to battle me to continue. I can barely move. Just circumvent me." He then paused to take a breather, his shell shining once more in another Harden. He then whispered, "You think I'll be an easy fight, don't you? You think I'll be a joke, just another bug that will gain you some experience?" He sighed. It had been long since he had to prove himself. Part of the reason why he survived was his non-threatening disposition and the fact that many Beedrill had been guarding him. Normally, Kakuna all gathered around a tree and Beedrill guarded them in swarms. He however felt different and hopped away slowly; he didn't need to be so dependent on these buzzing creatures. He just wanted to stay the way he did; and that meant a lot of sacrifices. "Just go. I didn't mean to stop you; I just didn't like people trying to knock me down." Level 24, asking you to go on your way

0.3 ![]() The strange thing here was, as the kakuna laughed, assuming that they saw him as simple training fodder, feeling that he saw the barely-concealed ulterior motive behind their challenge...there simply wasn't one. His laughter confused Shilo, whose usually composed posture faultered, and his whisper was easily caught by the sharper ears amongst the group, including her own. This distressed her; she truly meant to honour a stranger by meeting him in combat. She meant to bestow respect, not insult him. She jumped from her perch into the grass to hide her embarassment. Hunter drooped. The universe was just toying with him now, of that he was sure. He mumbled something under his breath in his own language, and Celeste just looked at the other pokemon in her usual confusion, unable to understand the conversation on her own. "He says he won't stop us," the chatot translated, and the relief on her face was evident. She'd been afraid that the bug could shoot lazer beams from his eyes or something equally ridiculous, and, even if he couldn't, she was much happier not harming him. "Okay, then. Come on, guys." She gripped to Ares as he prepared to start moving again. "Sorry we bumped into you," she added. "Keep it a little slower this time," she whispered to her skarmory, who looked a bit disappointed but easily swerved around the large cacoon and kept moving at an easier pace. The rest of the pokemon followed suit, Sting giving the wild pokemon one last curious glance before he returned his focus to his plant. They were prepared to forget the strange encounter and continue on. All but one. Shilo suddenly leaped up again, her clawed feet arranging themselves dancer-like on Ares' tail. The skarmory twisted his head around and snapped his beak in irritation; he wasn't her jungle gym! "Honourable stranger, you peaceful demeanor shames us. We owe you a debt for forgiving our clumsiness. Is there nothing we can do to repay you before we forge on?" Hunter yet again relayed the sneasel's plans, and Celeste again paused to consider this. She smiled; perhaps her and Shilo's sense of honour overlapped more than she'd originally thought. "I don't know if there's much we can offer," she pointed out, looking over her shoulder at the kakuna. "And if you just want us to go..." She didn't doubt that the kakuna had a certain amount of self-sufficiency in order to survive out here, but if he wanted to make use of their speed, she'd be happy to. Otherwise, they'd just forge on. --- Current Landmark: 4 Foot Grass 2 Pichu Egg: 11/20 Charti Berry Plant (Growth Mulch + Medium Compost): Berries 4/5, Watering 1/3 |

.3 (Oh my goodness. I can't believe I didn't notice this sooner and mod it. I am very very sorry. BTW, though, you remembered to put your location in your last post, but not your travel plan. I got confused for a bit trying to figure out if you were stationary training or what. ._.) The giant bug just shook his head, though there was a gleam in that opaque gaze at this point. "The respect you are giving me now is enough of a gift...go on ahead, you have things I'm sure you're trying to get done." Indeed, it did seem that the sneasel's respect and desire to help would have brought a smile to the bug's face, if it had a way to smile. They had treated him like an equal, of sorts, as worthwhile in his own right, and not as some weak bug. It was a small treasure, an ephemeral thing, this respect, not a thing one could touch or see; but for all that, it was absolutely priceless to this kakuna. +1 for respecting the bug and wanting to help him out.If the group decides to leave it at that, they can reach the Hillmoss Grasslands in no time at all, since the bug wasn't actually that far from the boundaries. |

0.3 ((D'aww. Love the post, Eevee. And sorry about the confusion, there.))Shilo bowed her head to the kakuna. "We are never too rushed to help another, but thank you for your kind words. Good bye, honourable stranger. Perhaps we shall meet again." She then looked at Celeste, who had been glancing from one to the other, and lightly hopped her way over to the human. She carefully climbed onto the trainer's shoulder, then sat there with a thoughtful expression. Celeste, more than mildly surprised by the sneasel's decision to allow, let alone initiate, physical contact with her, just sat there blinking for a while before she carefully asked. "Uh, we're going then?" Shilo gave no reply, so she instead looked at Hunter, who nodded. "Okay. Let's fly, then. Come on, Ares." The skarmory needed no other encouragement. With a loud crow, he took off like a shot, his trainer's eariler advice to slow down completely forgotten. With cries of surprise, the troupe of pokemon was off again, clearing the rest of the long grass and soaring over rolling hills. Sting and Hunter lagged behind, only a second, to grab a pair of berries from the plant, before they raced to catch up. Meanwhile, Shilo remained silent, thinking of the conversation with the kakuna. Perhaps she had more to learn about the world than she thought. There were more than warriors. She closed her eyes, feeling the wind rush past her. Maybe she was looking at Celeste and her way of handling things the wrong way. Just maybe. --- Continuing in the Hillmoss Grasslands Pichu Egg: 12/20 Charti Berry Plant (Growth Mulch + Medium Compost): Berries 5/5 <harvested 2>, Watering 2/3 for Shilo?
