It's the Boy Who Cried Wolf, basically.

A Bedtime Story

Once upon a time in the Lorenzian Wildlands, a band of mischievous Mightyena were on the prowl. They're stomachs were bulging and bloated from being so underfed, for wandering round the region was no way to keep nourished. When they came upon the small settlement of the famously spineless shrew, they chuckled so loud and jovially that they alerted the entire village. They all came out and retreated from the rustling sound near the Furious Forest, and yelled for the elder Quilava.

The elder Quilava awoke from his hiding hole and cried out. His deep-blue back erupted in flames, and he flew across the wildlands with great speed, driving back the hee-hawing hyenas. The next day there was much rejoicing, and the elder Quilava decided that they would set a permanent guard to watch over the land from the highest hilltop. Should the blissful beasts return to attack again, they would call out and the villagers could fight them off. He choose a young Cyndaquil named Cynder, for her sharp eyes and quick wit.

That night when the stars came out, she took up her post high above town, staring towards the Furious Forest should the Mightyena try and come back. But she was a wicked little rascal who grew bored much too quickly. She paced around, singing the tips of the tall grasses or rolling on her flaming back. But these distractions were so fleeting she felt she might go mad, and so, just to amuse herself, she shouted loudly throughout the village. "Mightyena! Mightyena! They're back, they're coming!"

All the villagers awoke frightened, and they ran out into the fields. The elder Quilava hurried out of bed. But, there were no Mightyena here. Cynder the Cyndaquil laughed at all the angry faces as the villagers went grumbling back to bed.

The elder Quilava scolded the rude rodent, saying, "Don't cry wolf, Cyndaquil! Don't cry wolf when there's no wolf!"

And he too grumbled all the way back to town.

So the next night Cynder the Cyndaquil tried so very hard to keep from getting bored. She practiced making smoke rings and watched them float up towards the starry side until they dissipated. But Cynder was so mischievous that she grew bored again, and soon found that she could no longer resist. Once more she shouted out, "They're back! Mightyena! Mightyena! Wake up, everyone!" And when they all came out and discovered there was no wolves again, she rolled over giggling at the sight of their furious faces.

The elder Quilava dragged himself out of bed and rushed along as well, and he scolded her once more. "Save your frightened song for when there is really something wrong! Don't cry 'wolf' when there is no wolf!" This time, hearing the insistence in the elder Quilava's voice, Cynder the Cyndaquil no longer found it funny to cry out and trick the townsfolk.

The next night, she kept quiet, and her mouth stayed rooted shut even though she wished to cry out. She stared up at the stars and the moon, and watched them dance around as she shifted her head back and forth. As she did this she heard a rustling in the woods. She sat up and looked towards the Furious Forest, and spotted the hunched over black figures approaching the village, struggling to keep from heeing-and-hawing. She jumped up and down, shouting so loudly, "They're here! The Mightyena are coming, run, run!"

But down in the village the townsfolk only rolled over, grumbling about the young girl who kept trying to fool them. After it became clear that they weren't coming, she jumped down and charged into town, filling the air with smoke to perhaps distract the big bad wolves. Cynder the Cyndaquil hurried to the elder Quilava's hiding hole and shook him awake. "Hurry, hurry! The wolves are here!"

At first he would not come. He said, "What have I told you before, Cyndaquil!" But she insisted, and when Cynder the Cyndaquil got the elder Quilava to come up, he saw that the Mightyena were running through the village, attacking the helpless townfolk. At that moment, the elder Quilava burst into a beautiful bright light, and the hapless hyena turned to watch what happened. The light faded away, and there stood a terrible Typhlosion, who ran through town and drove out the attackers of the wildlands once and for all.

The next day there was much rejoicing, and the elder Typhlosion took Cynder the Cyndaquil aside. Putting a reassuring arm around her shoulder, he said, "Nobody believes a liar, even when she is telling the truth."

Aris leaned forward, and rest his head on the palms of his hands. "Is he asleep?" He asked quietly. Blissey laid down the small Teddiursa, who snoozed quietly.

"Is that true?" Asked Blissey, gesturing belowdeck, where the new elder Typhlosion slept.

"Does it matter?"

"How many assholes we got on this ship anyhow?"
Ehhh cute? you don't usually do cute. You don't usually make so many errors in a few paragraphs either.

I'm really having a hard time coming up with anything other than cute. It's not original but neither is it the most outstanding spin on the story I've ever heard. Truth be told, the best part was at the end where it turns out Aris is telling a bedtime story to the teddy thing. Kinda of hard to get past the fact its a well known tale and you didn't do much to make it your own and more interesting than what it was.
