(For the record, I'm making a new thread for easier archiving of my character's chronological story) As Leslie and Beau reached the dimly defined border of Lorenzo Town, with the tall grass fields of the Wildlands bristling before them, Leslie sighed loudly holding a Pokéball in his palm. "Come on out, Blade!" He said, pressing the button and tossing the ball into the air with a flick of his wrist. A loud pop, which hopefully didn't startle Beau, echoed faintly through the air and Blade materialized on Leslie's shoulder. The trainer turned to his Rattata and touched base. "Sorry to have left you in there for so long, dude, but trust me, you were better off in there." Leslie was referring to their nearly fatal encounter with a crazed, rabid Poochyena. "Tat." Replied the Pokémon, indifferently. Hopefully, there wouldn't be similar obstacles to pass on the way to Radloff. Speaking of the destination, Leslie wondered exactly how they were going to get there. Peeking at his map of the region on his Pokétech, he plotted out their possible courses. Traveling as the crow flies would force them to cross a river, an island, and another river, in that order. That was, of course, assuming there would be a bridge of some sort to walk over the river with, which Leslie doubted. The only other option was to head back through the Hillmoss Grasslands, take the Land Bridge and enter the Radloffian Farmlands from there, a more annoying, time consuming trek. Leslie, who knew very little about this whole new world outside of his hometown of Little Hillmoss, wondered if there were any local fishermen that made sport of the dense Radloffian river system and possibly offered boat rides. Granted, if there were any, they probably would charge a fee for the trip, but Leslie was willing to pay up if it meant an easier, and probably safer trip to the farming central. "I don't know what you know about the lay of the land," Said Leslie to Beau, "But Radloff is pretty far on foot. If we travel along the riverbank, there's a possibility, although a very small one, that we might run into someone with a boat who could possibly drive us there." Leslie began mumbling to himself, Is it drive? Or pilot? Does "sail" work for motorized boats?" Even if they didn't find a sailor, they'd be getting there the same way anyways. In fact, traveling along the inside of the river was technically, mathematically, the shortest route there. In the long run, it would all work out. "So is that a good plan for you? Or do you have any other ideas?" He asked his new traveling companion. -- Pinsir Egg 37/55 Leslie & Beau's combined APL: 11.5

0.3 Isabeau stopped at the entrance to the Wildlands and breathed in the fresh, clean air. Finally out of the stuffy confines of stone, concrete, and inanimate objects Beau felt like she could see again. She could feel the energy of the living things drawing her into their midst. She knew where things were now and generally how to avoid them; unlike she had felt in the town. Though she still needed help from Lily navigating around things that had fallen in her path. So with Lilys vine wrapped snug around one of her wrists she walked on beside Leslie. The loud pop had become accustomed to her sensitive ears so she did not jump when Leslie released his Rattata from its Pokéball. Oh! She said with a surprised look on her face as she listened to the small Pokémons rapid heartbeat. Quickly she pulled from her bag the red Pokédex and scanned Rattatas data. She listened intently as it described the small, one foot tall purple rodent to her aloud. She nodded in understanding to the machine, though the machine could not respond back. She vaguely remembered what a Rattata looked like from when she was younger, but she couldnt really get a good picture in her head. But her face fell slightly when Leslies Rattata replied in such a uh huh, thats nice way. Sure, she and Lily didnt really know each other enough yet to call each other, friends but she was sure Lily would never reply to her in such a way. Lily was gentle, patient, and understanding and knew very well how much Beau relied on her. She wondered if most Pokémon acted this way to their new trainers. She forced herself to brighten as she turned to the Rattata who was perched on Leslies shoulder and gave it a smile. Hello there, Im Isabeau. Its nice to meet you finally, she said cheerfully. They traveled in silence for a little and Isabeau could hear Leslie fiddling with something, though she couldnt tell what. Then he spoke up which startled Isabeau slightly, but not too badly. It wasnt like she was deep within the crevices of her mind. She thought for a moment to answer his question and tried to recall upon what Jeraud had told her. Well she said as she thought, The first place well reach the rivers edge is the overgrown thorns, other than the light jungle of course. But were not traveling that way. Hopefully we might be able to find a ferry or a small craft there that will take us to the boggy area. Then from there we could possibly trek through the bog until we reach the other river and find a boat there. That should take us directly to Radloff. She pressed her thin fingers to her temple as she thought again of what Jeraud said. My brother also said that theres a branch of the river that cuts the boggy area in half. If we dont want to travel by land and just stay on the boat we could travel that way. Or up over the peak of the small island. She tried to think of anything else she could remember from what her brother had said about that particular part of the map. But if we cant find a boat well have to take the long way around. Im sorry and I know Im just repeating everything you said, but it helps me think too, she said in apology to Leslie. But yes, I do think that traveling along the river side is a brilliant idea. .3 Travel through the slender stalks of weed and grass was growing much less labored the more time you spent trudging on. So, it should come as no surprise that you moved ahead so quickly, soon reaching the edge of the river and the Overgrown Grass 2. The propitious pair and their Pokemon arrived on the river acting as a border between it and the marshes or farmlands beyond, and stopped to survey the scene. The waters snaked through the jungles to your western side, splitting them into slivers of swamp. At this point, the line between land and sea blurred, with vegetation piercing the surface here and there, as if struggling for air. The bottom of the river could not be determined, because it was so clouded by dirt being dragged and deposited in the ocean. There were a few patches of dry land, but they were few and far between. Should one of you still have your PokeTech out, the map indicated that you were looking right towards Radloff. In fact, it didn't even look far away from here. If you could only get across river somehow... Was it worth the risk? It was a fair assumption to say that the muddy mishmash of liquid land would immediately suction to any foot laid in it, and slowly but surely suck you under? What sort of Pokemon dwell here? Conjecture aside, it was a straightforward path to Radloff, and would save you all the extra travel involved in you current detouring plan. Which would it be? Reached Overgrown Thorns 2. .3 (little inspiration -_-)Leslie peered into the murky waters that washed past the edge of the wildlands. It was impossible to tell how deep the river was, or even how safe it might be to cross. Likewise, it was crazy that Leslie was even considering a forging attempt with a blind trainer in tow. He glanced at Blade as if to say "What do you think?" the Rattata huffed quietly. "Well, we reached the river." Leslie announced to Beau and Lily, which was probably pointless, for Beau could probably here the water rushing by. "I don't see any bridge to cross to that island over there, and no boats or anything. You think we should start heading north to the land bridge?" -- Pinsir Egg 38/55 Currently: Overgrown Thorns 2 (By riverside) Destination: Six Foot Grass 2 > Thick Shrubs 1 > ... > Radloff |

0.2 As they drew towards the rivers edge Lily became frantic with worry. She knew that they were considering crossing the muddy, fast flowing water even though it was dangerous. She peered across the water and could not tell whether it was shallow or deep for the water was too murky. Surely if the water was deep the two trainers would be swept away with the current, unable to get a foothold on the floor. She glanced up at Beau as they reached the very edge of the river and gave a soft tug on her trainers wrist as she tried to tell her it was a bad idea. Isabeau on the other hand, had no such thoughts of crossing a fast flowing body of water by swimming. She wouldnt even venture across it even if they could see the bottom. For if she fell under there was no way for her to tell where the surface was and where the bottom lay. The thought made her fearful and she gave a slight shudder. She nodded in response when Leslie informed her that they had reached the rivers edge. Though he had no reason too. She could smell the murky, churning water before her and she could hear it rushing by on its way to the ocean. She pondered Leslies question silently as she studied the situation at hand. Had there been any way for them to cross safely whether it be by boat or land bridge, she would have done so immediately. The prospect of wandering through the bogs excited the small girl for it was something she had never experienced in her life. Plus it was a shorter way to Radloff, which lay directly across from them and the boggy area. But they couldnt, sadly. Annoyance pricked at the loss of an opportunity and she let out an audible huff. Her brows furrowed together in annoyance as her gaze cast down at the boggy water. She shot the water a glare and then turned away from it to face Leslie. It doesnt really seem safe to cross here The water sounds somewhat fast and the current seems to be stronger in the middle, she said with a nod. So I guess we should keep moving. Maybe if we keep walking along the river we can find something to help us get across, she said, her spirits brightening. She hoisted her bag higher up onto her shoulder with a satisfied smile. Not all hope of ever getting to venture into the bog was lost. At least, not yet. But she knew once they got to Radloff all questions on the matter were off the table. Lily gave a content sigh as Beau turned from the river. Her facial expression became relaxed once more as she prepared herself and Beau to move forward, away from the tempting place near the river. So, Beau spoke up suddenly. She hopped nimbly over a small rock lying in her path thanks to Lilys help. What do you wish to accomplish on this journey. I know you mentioned the Pokémon Gyms, but is there anything else? she asked him with a friendly smile. .3 ![]() Leslie felt something comparable to magnetic repulsion as he turned towards the direction of Little Hillmoss. He was hoping a bridge would present itself towards the bog, or that a local fisherman could cart them across the river, anything that meant he wouldn't have to head in the direction of his hometown. Although he knew they would be making a sharp u-turn before reaching Little Hillmoss, Leslie felt sick with anxiety every time he neared the village; a sickness which felt not entirely unlike eating a bowl of needles. He shuffled his feet across the damp riverbank, making a point of kicking small rocks into the churning waters to his right. Blade yawned, as stoic as ever. The small rodent had somehow managed to lounge in a laying position, while still balanced precisely on his trainer's shoulder. This was probably possible due to Leslie's lankiness which created deep spaces between some of his bones, in this case specifically, between his collarbone and his neck. Despite Leslie's initial reluctance for such close contact with the Rattata, he no longer minded Blade's company on his shoulder. The barely noticeable weight coupled with the slightest warmth and musky aroma of the creature comforted the angst-filled 21 year old, and reminded him of the new life he was now leading, filled with new experiences and adventure. Of course, this was exactly what his mother had wanted him to feel, which was one downside of all this, but he wasn't out her for her, he was out here for himself. He snapped out of his trance as Beau spoke. He caught her halfway through a question, and he blushed, hoping he hadn't been ignoring her. She was asking about his reasons for being a Pokémon trainer. Briefly, he got defensive, ready to wave off any subject that could come up as an answer to her question, but then cooled down. If he was going to be traveling with her for an undetermined period of time, then he guessed it wouldn't hurt to tell her more about his old home life. "Well," He began, wondering where to start. "To be honest, I don't really know what's in store for me, I originally didn't even want to set out on this journey." He wondered if that sounded strange. He recalled all the bad memories as if they had happened just the day before. "It all kinda starts with my dad. He was a poacher, he hunted something called...Herahorns...or Cerahoss, I can't remember the name. Anyways, he sold their horns on the black market, he got caught and is still in jail. I kinda hated Pokémon for that, and I also lost the motivation to do much of anything, it's a miracle I graduated school, really." He picked up a small branch lying in his way and chucked it into the river, it drifted wildly past him with the raging current. Right now he felt like that twig, being thrown haphazardly into a new fast-paced life. "I had been chilling at home since I graduated, not really doing anything, living off my mom. Finally, a few weeks ago, she dragged me down to Professor Willow's and tried to force me into Pokémon training. I said I didn't want to and she flipped a shit. Then I just left, I got myself a Pokéball, ended up catching Blade here, and now here I am..." He punctuated his story by pulling out another cigarette. He had noticed Beau's nose twinge whenever he smoked, so he chose to fall behind a few steps so the smoke trailed behind them and not in her direction. After a moment of quiet as he fumbled while lighting the butt, he realized he hadn't satisfactorily answered her question. "Um...so I'm really just out here, willy-nilly with no idea what to expect, I had seen a poster for the Pokémon League challenge, and I guess that might be fun to do..." He puffed the cigarette quietly, "It's hard to know where you're going when you don't know anything about Pokémon..." He ended, kicking another rock into the waters. -- Pinsir Egg 39/55 Currently: Overgrown Thorns 2 (By riverside) Destination: Six Foot Grass 2 > Thick Shrubs 1 > ... > Radloff Edited by Blake Kinlion, Mar 1 2010, 11:30 PM.

0.3 Isabeau hated being able to tap into peoples emotions. She felt like she was taping into something very personal, kind of like eavesdropping but with how they actually felt. No one could every really hide them from her though and she couldnt really help it either. So she caught Leslies emotions as they changed from a sort of loathing, to embarrassment, and then to a flash of sudden defensiveness. They were very faint, like tiny whispers against her skin but she felt them all the same. She didnt mind it when his mood started out as loathing because she could guess he didnt want to head back to Hillmoss. And by the way he became suddenly embarrassed signaled to her that he had probably been spacing out when she began talking. But his third emotion surprised her the most. She wasnt expecting it at all. She had simply been inquiring as to what his future plans might be. She figured his past was a sensitive subject to him, so she never would have asked him about it on purpose. Her brows furrowed together in alarm and her glazed eyes got a sort of worried look to them. She was about to start apologizing profusely when he suddenly calmed and began speaking. Isabeau listened intently. Her head stayed cocked in his direction the entire time he spoke so as not to miss a single syllable. That was the thing about Isabeau, she liked listening and she loved words. So the eighteen year old was obviously delighted that she managed to get such a long monologue from the silent, older man. But still, despite her delight, she felt a sharp stab of sympathy for him. Having grown up in such a way was terrible and undeserving to a young child. But she understood his mothers want for her son to take hold of his life and actually do something with it. That is, after all, exactly what Isabeau was doing. As Leslie finished Isabeau nodded intently, her face holding a grave expression from the weight of the knowledge she held. She had not been expecting that when she asked him such a simple question. Wow, I never thought Id hear you talk that much. You seem like the silent type, Isabeau said as she continued her pace forward even though Leslie dropped back. Though thats terrible about your father Im sorry you had to go through that at such a young age she said sadly. But I dont know how you could have managed to stay inside for so long Thats why I came out here, she said with a wave around. I couldnt stand being cooped up any longer I wanted something but I dont quite know yet she said, her voice becoming airy as she drifted off in her own thoughts. Lily became alarmed that her trainer was suddenly spacing off so she lightly tapped Isabeau on the leg. Isabeau suddenly snapped back into attention and spun around, embarrassed. Oh! Im sorry, I do that sometimes she said, her face pink with embarrassment. But nobody really knows that much about Pokémon when they first head out. Thats a part of the adventure! A smile lit her face and her eyes held a small sparkle, like a childs. But, I can tell that you dont want to head near Little Hillmoss, she said, suddenly growing serious. If we can find a narrower part of the river or maybe a buoyant object, we can cross there. Well I say buoyant object in case we might have to float across she said to clarify. Lily shot Leslie a worried glance, as if she was begging him silently not to let her trainer float across a river on a piece of wood. With that Isabeau continued eagerly on ahead. She hoped for Leslies sake that they might find a safe crossing to the Boggy Area so that he would not be tormented by the ever closer Little Hillmoss. .3 It was a simple, concise plan. Just keep on walking, and watch for the gradual fluctuations in the depth of the river and the distance between the banks. You had already passed on pushing on through the marshy shore, what with one of you being blind and all, the less risk with the biggest reward, the better. Trekking all the way to the Land Bridge well known to be up ahead was time consuming, yet safe, trying to leap across the rushing waters was decidedly more dangerous. The upcoming bottleneck wasn't so close as to be a simple large step, but not so far that it immediately appeared insurmountable. It seemed likely that this was going to be the best alternative available, for looking ahead, the river quickly widened and then seemed to maintain that distance. The river turned to rapids at this point, sloshing around and threatening to overflow the banks. The other edge was only around five feet away. A running start and you could probably make it, but was it worth the risk of the blind person missing? They surely be swept away quite suddenly... would a back-up plan be in order? 6 Foot Grass 2 Obstacle: Thinning River If you succeed, you'll land in Thick Shrubs 2. If you pass it up, you can keep going to the Land Bridge. If you fail... |

.2 ![]() Leslie eyed the possible shortcut. He was certain he could clear the gap, despite the potential to be swept away by the surging current, but Beau was a different story. He couldn't expect her to, quite literally, blindly leap to the other side. Even suggesting that was bad news bears. If there was some sort of bridge lain across it...well it would still be dangerous but they'd at least have a fighting chance at taking the opportunity. "Hm, it's narrower here..." Leslie stated, informing Beau of the development. By this time he had already decided not to suggest the idea of crossing to the blind girl, but he figured he'd let her know anyway, in case she was wondering about the sudden increased volume of the river. Experimentally, he kicked a stick into the rushing waters, watching it zip downstream at a seemingly impossible speed. "It's possible to jump across," He told her, "But it'll probably be a pretty dangerous endeavor." He tapped his Pokétech's touch screen a few times to get a look at Opaddeka's map. "It's actually an almost pointless idea, trying to cross, the Land Bridge is only a few minutes away if we keep truckin'." He admitted. -- Pinsir Egg 40/55 Currently: Six Foot Grass 2 Destination: Thick Shrubs 1 > Land Bridge > ... > Radloff |

0.3 As they wander farther up river Isabeau wondered why the rushing water suddenly sounded like it had gained speed. It sent a chill down her spine as she listened to the ever flowing water crash against objects that lay in its path. A small, nagging feeling settled in the pit of her stomach and she suddenly got the feeling that this is where they had to cross if they were going to cross before the land bridge. Her stomach sank even farther as they slowed and eventually stopped walking. Leslie spoke up, telling her that it was narrower here. She nodded, suddenly realizing why the water suddenly grew so angry. It was being squeezed by the narrow banks and it threatened to rise onto the land. Leslie had not needed to even suggest crossing here; Isabeau already had it implanted in her head. She had already made up her mind that she would cross it if it was not too wide. So when Leslie told her that it was possible to jump across the river, Isabeaus mind was made. She wasnt even discouraged when Leslie told her the Land Bridge was only a few minutes away from where they were. She only shook her head and gave him a smile, though it didnt reach her eyes. She knew the only reason he wouldnt cross here was because of her blindness. Her damned blind eyes. I can cross here. If you can cross, Ill have no problem, she said stubbornly. Im not stupid. I can hear how fast the river is flowing and that if either of us fall in well be swept away so fast we wont have time to blink, she cocked her head towards the river as she spoke. And I know that if I fall in I should pull my feet up so that they wont get caught between some boulders or snagged on something. Im pretty sure I can float well she said as she reached into her bag. She pulled a small black hair tie from within the front pocket of her bag and tied her hair up in a high pony tail. Unless youre the one thats afraid of crossing here, she said, teasing him. She knew it might be dangerous to tease and push the buttons a man she barely knew, but she was determined to cross the river here. Like any normal, unlevel headed person might do. But then again, if Leslie truly did feel uncomfortable about crossing here she would be sympathetic to him and not cross. Then Id understand. But really, if youre worried for my sake, dont be. Im a big girl, she said with a smile as she hoisted her bag higher on her shoulder and prepared for what they were going to do. But if we do cross here I would need you to cross first. That way I can hear you on the other side and accurately jump the distance I would need too, she told him with a nod. Im sorry Im asking that of you, but it would help me a lot. And if you could maybe you could hum? It would be heard hearing your heart beat through the sound of the river. .3 ![]() Leslie sighed when the girl expressed her desire to try and cross the tumultuous torrent. His first impression was that she wanted to prove to him she was as capable a human being as anyone else, but quickly wondered if she just wanted to prove that to herself. He glanced back at the gap, knowing that the jump would be no problem for him, but it seemed like an awful long way across for a blind person. He was on the fence about this. He didn't want to see Beau get swept down the river, and he also didn't want to seem like a wimp to her. If she was as confident as he was about the feat, however, then he guessed she could probably make it. He was aware of her uncanny ability to sense where things were, and her plan involving him jumping across first was sound. The angsty punk would simply have to discard his shining-knight tendencies to keep Beau safe and get ready to dive into the river after her if things went wrong. "Alright, if you're comfortable doing this, then I guess we could try." Leslie told her, recalling Blade into his Pokéball. "Come here," He told the girl, gently pulling on her arm. "Before I jump, I want to line you up so that you get the most out of the narrowing." He brought her to a spot just in front of where the grass got incredibly tall, allowing for a ten foot dash before having to jump the water. He stood behind her, adjusting the angle that she faced by holding onto her shoulders and pivoting her. Once he was satisfied by her position, he explained to her his plan for executing this. "Ok, you've got about ten feet to run as fast as you can and then jump. You might want to return Lily to her Pokéball while you do this." He instructed. "Once I'm over there, this is what I'll do. You start running when I yell 'Go' and it should take you no more than three seconds before you need to jump, so I'll count to three. When I say 'three' that's when you jump, not before, not after, just as I say it. I'll clap too so you'll know where I am." He shrugged and looked her cool, ice blue eyes. Their blank stare didn't bother him, he actually liked the way they looked. He set himself up for the vault next to Beau, gauging the speed he would need and the time he would have to jump. He had tried out track and field in high school and got one season's worth of pole vault training, he wondered if that would be enough to get him across. After a deep breath, he darted ahead, his legs exploding upward with each stride, gaining more and more speed. Granted, he only had enough room for about eight steps, but when he reached the riverbank, he was sure he had the speed to send him across. He braced for the landing... -- Pinsir Egg 41/55 Currently: Six Foot Grass 2 Destination: Jump the river to Thick Shrubs 2 > North Crops > Radloff Edited by Blake Kinlion, Mar 13 2010, 02:49 PM.

.3 ![]() Leslie coiled his legs and leapt into the air, flying over the rushing rapids of the river after a running start. Time seemed to slow for a second as the universe decided if it wanted to be a bitch today or not. It was always fun to watch trainers squirm and potentially get killed/maimed/something else, but, well... the universe wasn't quite that mean. At least, not today! His shoes hit the ground on the other side, and he stumbled a few paces forward before getting his footing and turning to look back. He'd actually done it! Now, it was Beau's turn. And for the sake of getting a move on, let's just say that they put their plan into action right away! Sound was her sight, and Leslie gave her cues of when to act, and then she was off! So... let's talk about mice and men for a second. And their best laid plans. Being blind is what it is. No matter how careful you act, the girl simply can't see. Fine details can't be looked at. Like exact distances. Long story short, she jumped too soon... came up too short. But here's the happy ending. When her foot should have plunged into the fast current, it instead came down on a hard, red, scaly thing that was traveling through the current (or being drug by the current, whichever). Whatever it was, it didn't feel like ground. But, that was enough to get the girl the rest of the way across the river. Congrats, you made it! Now get going through those shrubs before someone else edits my mod with more bullshit. :/ Edited by Steel Cerberus, Mar 17 2010, 07:19 PM.

0.3 It all happened so fast. Leslie was across and then they were actually acting out their plan. The next thing she knew she was flying across the rushing river with her legs coiled upwards into her body. One leg was slightly extended so that she could land safely. But she had jumped too soon and misjudged her distance from the neighboring shore. Luckily for Beau though there was an unlucky Pokémon that had been swimming past at exactly the right time. She stepped on it and only got her foot a little damp. Wha! she cried out in alarm as her foot connected with something that was not ground or water. She pitched forward, unbalanced and unable to catch herself. She twisted so that she wouldnt land on her bag as she fell toward the ground. She landed on her side with an audible grunt of protest at hitting the ground, but at least she wasnt in the water. She lay there for a few moments longer than needed, just to make sure she hadnt dreamt making it across. A smile spread across her face as she picked herself from the dirt. Her shirt, legs, and arms were a bit muddy but she didnt care. We made it! she said happily as she stood. She didnt bother to try and wipe away the mud. Im sorry I made you jump across I shouldnt have. You could have gotten hurt and if you fell in there would have been nothing I could do she said as her eyes grew a bit watery. But thank you she said sincerely. So um are you alright? You didnt get hurt or anything right? she asked Leslie, her brows furrowing with concern. Suddenly her eyes grew wide as she realized something and she began rummaging through her bag. She pulled out her egg with a concerned look on her face. Isabeau took a deep breath as she closed her eyes and began running her hands lightly over the egg. When she was satisfied that the egg was in perfect condition she placed it safely back in her bag. She picked Lilys Pokéball off her belt and let the Bulbasaur out from the small sphere. The Bulbasaur materialized in a flash of red light with her eyes closed and all four of her legs moving back and forth in a swimming motion. It took her a few seconds to realize that she and Beau werent in any actual danger and when she did she opened one eye and looked around. Bulba! she said sternly, as if she was scolding herself. She rose from the ground and composed herself before wrapping one of her vines around Isabeaus wrist. I didnt see it so Im not even going to ask Isabeau said in response to her Pokémons very obvious odd behavior. Ralts Egg: 18/35 Currently: Thick Shrubs 2 Destination: North Crops > Radloff |

.3 ![]() Leslie didn't comment on Lily's strange movements. Instead, he turned to Beau and answered her, "I'm just fine, but you worried me for a second. I almost thought I would have to jump in the river after you." He pulled Blade's Pokéball out of his pocket and released the rodent who took his usual spot on Leslie's shoulder. He glanced at his GPS equipped map of Opaddeka. "Hey, we're nearly there. If we're quick, we could probably reach Radloff in just 15 minutes." He said and began heading in the farm town's direction. -- Pinsir Egg 42/55 Currently: Thick Shrubs 2 Destination: North Crops > Radloff (Urk, shitty post, just trying to move things along) Edited by Blake Kinlion, Mar 21 2010, 10:35 AM.

.2 A things tend to go, two trainers in the wildlands did attract some attention from the local wildlife. In this particular situation, the crossing of the river had been successful but had brought some perhaps unwanted attention to the duo. As the pair traversed toward Radloff, an unlikely trio moved toward their location with some speed. You see, they were essentially a toll guard; a while ago three pokemon decided to use their combined power to demand items from pokemon and trainers alike, in order to stop foraging for food themselves. Although many pokemon escaped their clutches, a pair of trainers, especially one blind, was loud enough to warrant their attention. In a flurry of movement, a shadowy figure jumped out above you! It kicked, it screamed, it slashed with its multiple arms! You encounter Kung Fu Ledyba! A couple of moments later, the ferocious Pokémon was joined by her two companions. The trio now stood in your way, they were fearless and strong, but not unreasonable pokemon. "Ledyba! Ledy Ledy Ledyba!" (Unworthy foes, you have crossed our river! Now you must either defeat us or pay toll to pass!) The Ledyba stood back smug, these trainers looked weak, even if they were not, she made sure she stood far enough back to flee at a moment's notice. She might look fearless, but really she was just a lonely Ledyba who had grown up in an unstable home, with a angry drunk father. It seemed your options are to either battle Ledyba's companions or present them with a gift, that would satisfy the trio of pokemon. What will you do? ![]() Kung Fu Ledybay Lvl 14 -not capturable- --- ![]() Lvl 12 ![]() Lvl 9 ((For clarity's sake, the Ledyba will not battle or can be captured. 0.3 She heard them first but paid them no mind. Scuffling sounds in the bushes and tree tops were commonly heard. So she just kept walking along beside Leslie and led around obstacles by Lily. It wasnt until they were very close that Isabeau noted that something was off. None of the sounds she usually heard had gotten this close to them. Which probably meant the Pokémon who were approaching was intent on running into them. Mentally Isabeau prepared herself for the inevitable Pokémon surprise that was heading right for them. She opened her mouth to warn Leslie, but it was too late. The dark shape flung itself from the grass right into their path. Thanks to the mental preparation, Isabeau hadnt been too surprised when the Ledyba jumped out at them with its limbs flailing as it kicked and punched. She had decided early on in her journey that this would be a common occurrence. Isabeau simply stiffened in shock of the hostile vibe that was radiating from the Pokémon. In the next moment two other Pokémon flanked the Ledyba, their vibes the same as their leaders. Lily stared at the trio of Pokémon before her and cocked her head to the side in curiosity. Bulba? A toll? Lily asked them when the Ledyba was finished talking. Her eyes narrowed at the Ledyba as it finally registered in her head that she had called them all unworthy foes. Bulba! Bulbasaur! Unworthy foes? How dare you! Lily said, offended. She released her vine from Beaus wrist and raised them above her head, prepared to strike the three Pokémon. Wait Lily, Isabeau said calmly. She turned her face towards Leslies direction and pushed a lock of her hair behind her ear. I think we should try and figure out what they want before we attack, she told him. They wouldnt be so organized if they didnt want anything. Isabeau bent down to Lilys level and the Bulbasaur turned to face her. Now, tell me what they said. Lily thought for a moment. How would she communicate words when she couldnt speak human and her trainer couldnt see. Isabeau noticed her Pokémons dilemma and stuck out her hands for the Bulbasaur to use. Lily thought for a moment before getting an idea. She had seen a trainer use their hands in such a way when she was still at the Pokémon laboratory. She grabbed one of Isabeaus hands with both her vines and folded her hand so that her thumb, index finger and middle finger touched. She folded down her ring and pinky finger since they were of no use. Then she began rubbing her trainers fingers together. She was trying to convey the word, money. Once she was done making that hand symbol she unfurled Isabeaus and then grabbed both of her hands by the wrist. She simply smashed Isabeaus hands together, hoping to mimic what a battle would be as a hand symbol Hmm Isabeau said as she stood back up and turned once more to Leslie. Did you get that ? she asked for she didnt really understand. She had never seen anyone use the first hand symbol and she guessed that the second meant clapping but she figured that couldnt be right. The three Pokémon were being defensive and obviously wanted to fight. Ralts Egg: 19/35 *Isabeau's trying to figure out what the three Pokemon want* |

.3 ![]() Leslie scratched his head, unsure himself what any of the Pokémon were trying to say. He found it incredible that these creatures could understand pretty much anything humans said, but, of course, people couldn't understand any Pokémon's language. Regardless, he tried to figure out the Bulbasaur's make-shift sign language. Beau looked like an Italian chef the way her hand was positioned. "Um...flavor? Or texture?" Leslie struggled to decode the message. "You got any input?" He asked Blade who merely huffed and dozed off. Then he realized the most common use of the motion. "Money. Wait, what would these Pokémon do with money? And how do they even know what it is?" The second message was equally as unclear. "I see clapping too. Or maybe, bashing? Oh, maybe that means battle." He said, luckily guessing the right answer. Lily nodded fervently in affirmation. "Ok, so they want us to either pay them, or battle them. At least, that's what I got from all of that." He deduced. Right now, battling sounded like a fun idea, but Blade was content to just rest on his shoulder, and he didn't want to upset Beau, if she thought that the less violent route was the better one. "What should we do?" He asked her. -- Pinsir Egg 43/55 Currently: Thick Shrubs 2 Destination: North Crops > Radloff |

0.2 Lily was very proud of herself and of Leslie for figuring out what the Pokémon were trying to say. With a satisfied smile she sat down on her green rump and stared at the other three Pokémon. She was nervous that there were three Pokémon versus her and Blade. The only battle she ever encountered so far on her and Isabeaus journey had ended with her almost fainting and unable to help Isabeau. But she trusted the trainers judgment and would follow the orders despite her nervousness. Isabeau thought for a moment as she analyzed the situation. The Ledyba was standing back and off to the side while the two others stood in front, ready to attack. She guessed that they were probably her cronies and did all of her fighting. The Ledyba put up a defensive front but judging by how she was holding back, Beau guessed the Ledyba wasnt as tough as she appeared. Then she thought about how they were looking for payment or a battle. That probably meant that they were desperate enough, or stupid enough, to go out and challenge a trainer and their Pokémon. It seems to me like the two up front are the Ledybas cronies Theyre probably not too intelligent and are only following her for the security, Isabeau said aloud under her breath to Leslie. Shes putting up a defensive front but Im willing to bet she isnt as tough as she appears to be. Isabeau wrapped a strand of hair around her finger as she thought. If we can convince the two cronies to abandon the Ledyba by promising something more, then they might leave us alone, Isabeau said with a nod. Im going to try and negotiate! Lily glanced up at Isabeau, a look of question on her face. She wasnt too convinced the plan would work. What if when they were trying to convince the two Pokémon they attacked? Surely Isabeau wouldnt be able to stand a blow from two wild Pokémon. The grass type stood again and eyed the two Pokémon before her and the Ledyba standing back. She didnt think it was quite fair that they got to decide who crossed the river and what the consequences were. Lily narrowed her eyes at the three Pokémon and was about to raise her vines in defense when Isabeau knelt down once more. The blind girl closed her eyes so that she wouldnt stare blindly at the two Pokémon and scare them off. Though maybe that was better than what she was about to do. Hello there, my name is Isabeau, its very nice to meet you, she told the Sentret kindly and even gave him a small friendly smile. It must be awfully hard living out here in the wild. Is that why you depend on the Ledyba and attack trainers that cross the river? You know your life would be much easier if you just came with us she said, her voice soft and low. You wouldnt have to fight for food anymore or protection for that matter. You would have protection with us Ralts Egg: 20/35 Currently: Thick Shrubs 2 Destination: North Crops > Radloff |

.3 (I would appreciate pokemon stats in the future so I don't have to flip back pages to find them. :P) The three pokemon watched with relative impatience as the group pulled back to confer, muttering amongst themselves. The ledyba buzzed down to do the same while Lily tried to explain things to the humans. A quiet conference among the pokemon occurred, while the trainers puzzled things out and reached their own conclusions. The bug buzzed back upwards, just as Beau turned and approached carefully. Were they simply going to pay? The two of them tried to catch this human's eye, but she had her eyes closed for some strange reason. They eyed Beau rather suspiciously as she made her case, made all the more suspicious by the fact that she wouldn't meet their gaze. Blind humans came around less often than a blue moon, so really, can you blame them for not realizing? The oddish and sentret exchanged a glance, looking for a moment as if they were considering the option, then back over to Beau. The oddish's attention shifted beyond to Leslie a moment or two, suspicions darting around in their heads before they both leapt back, striking poses of their own as their leader buzzed angrily. "Ledy...dee-ba!" (You choose not to pay...then we fight!) Hmm. It seemed the reasonable approach wasn't going to go over well. Maybe they liked being with the bug for more than just being cronies. Probably they all had drunk fathers, and empathised with each other. Who knew. It was still possible to retreat, and it was likely they'd let them go, but they weren't about to trust anyone who wasn't even willing to look at them, closing her eyes so she wouldn't have to gaze upon them while her companion lurked in the shadows behind, obviously preparing an ambush. .3 ![]() Suddenly, things went from strange to worse. At first the Pokémon gang wanted to get paid, but now they just wanted to fight. The Pokémon must have been real scatterbrains to come to this conclusion. It would make anyone wonder how successful the band had been in the past against other trainers. Regardless, they were at first just a nuisance, but now they were an obstacle, and obstacles had to be dealt with. Luckily, Leslie was getting his preferred way without having to shove a battle down the little guys' throats. However, they were apparently stupid enough to oppose him and Blade. "It looks like we're not getting through this without a fight." He told his traveling partner. "Try to keep up." He nudged Blade who had dozed off on his shoulder. The little mouse simply twitched his ear. "Blade, what the hell..." He said, poking the rat's back with a stiff finger. "This isn't a time to sleep, you've got some fighting to do." Blade looked at his trainer and yawned, a too-the-point expression of his blahsay feelings about all this, but after a quick stretch, leapt down to the ground and assumed a defensive stance. "Alright," Leslie said to Beau, "I'm going to take that...blue leafy one." (He still knew little about the Pokémon world.) "If you think she's up for it, I'd say Lily should take the squirrely-looking one. Oh that's a Sentret!" He suddenly shouted feeling proud of himself for recognizing a wild Pokémon. "Blade, hit that...plant thing with your Quick Attack and Flame Wheel combo!" Blade had invented this move while fighting a Spinarak in the Forest of Fury, Leslie hoped it would work again.

0.3 Isabeau was surprised at the rival Pokémons reaction to her offer at peace. She had hoped that it would be an easy capture and both sides would avoid fighting. But the other Pokémon were wary of the traveling trainers and instead chose to fight. Isabeau stood up once more and brushed back her hair as she let out a breath of air. Alright, she said simply as she backed up so that she was standing side by side with Leslie. Lily moved to stand in front of Isabeau in defense. The last thing she had wanted to do was fight, but if it meant defending and pleasing her trainer, Lily would do it. Isabeau smirked at Leslies remark about her keeping up. Dont worry, I kept up with you this entire time, Ill keep up now, she said with a slight laugh in her voice. She pulled out her Pokédex from her bag and flipped it open. The red machine beeped a few times before it began scanning the two Pokémon before her. She had run into an Oddish once before and she did not want to battle one again. Apparently grass types do not do well against other grass types, which Beau had found out the hard way. The second Pokémon was one Isabeau had not encountered before, so she let her Pokédex scan it. It stands on its tail so it can see a long way. If it spots an enemy, it cries loudly to warn its kind. It is a normal type Pokémon, the Pokédex said aloud and Isabeau nodded. Normal type, thats better than fighting another grass type, Isabeau thought with a smile. Her and Lily might actually have a good enough chance against the Sentret if they played their cards right. She slipped the Pokédex back into her bag and gave a confident smile. Okay Lily, if these three wont let us pass then well just have to give them a battle, she said with a confident nod to her Pokémon. She wanted Lily to feel confident as well in this battle since their last one didnt turn out as happily as she had planned, though they had one by a little. But truthfully she was nervous about it too. Use a razor leaf attack against the Sentret and then go in with a tackle attack, she told Lily. ![]() Blade Level 17 34/34 ![]() Lily Level 9 27/27*Using razor leaf and then a tackle* VS. ![]() Level 14 42/42 ![]() Level 9 18/18 ![]() Level 12 36/36Ralts Egg: 19/35 Currently: Thick Shrubs 2 Destination: North Crops > Radloff Edited by Bubbles, May 6 2010, 03:05 AM.

0.3 The peace soon turned into a battle in which neither side wanted to lose. It was rather sad considering the pokemon seemed so calm before. It was a rather worrying thing, though they did want a fight and thus, the both of you delivered. Blade sprinted out of the tracks with a fast action quick attack. He quickly picked up speed, just enough to initiate a Quick Attack before hopping into a Flame Wheel. The small purple mouse, now on flames, charged quickly at the Oddish giving it no time to react. The full force of the rodent's flaming body made contact with the Oddish and knocked it unconscious rather quickly singing it's leaves rather quickly. Blade was victorious in his battle against the Oddish, though he was quickly taken down a few pegs by the Ledyba. The Ledyba came out of no where pummelling Blade with a few Comet Punches, four, to be precise, before backing off behind the Sentret. Lily stared at the Sentret for a moment before shaking her bulb, though the Sentret just took off in a jolt springing up from its tail and launching itself at the Bulbsaur with no trouble whatsoever. It sprang at the Bulbsaur like a shot bashing itself against the bulb pokemon with a Quick Attack. Shaking off the initial attack, Lily shook her bulb again loosening leaves from it, sending the leaves in the Sentret's direction. It was hit with the brunt of the damage, though some stray leaves hit Ledyba who was behind the Sentret at the time. This made the Ledyba furious. It quickly started up its second round of attacks after that pummelling Blade with another round of Comet Punching, three times this times around. Sentret started off with another Quick Attack against Lily, bashing his head against her once again, this time she twitched a bit before getting up to start her own charge at the Sentret with a Tackle. Looks like your pokemon took a fair amount of damage.

.3 ![]() POW! Blade drew first blood, knocking out the Oddish quicker than Leslie even got the command out. For the apathetic Pokémon that he was, Blade fought really well. The singed grass type hit the ground with a soft thud, unmoving, while Beau and Lily executed their own attack. Leslie was pleasantly surprised that the pair could hold their own in battle, even with Beau's disability. They worked really well together, though. Beau's knowledge of Pokémon helped her know which moves to use when, while Lily would use her eyes and independence to properly execute the attacks. Of course, Lily would have to be an above-average battler to work with her blind trainer, but she didn't seem to mind that one bit. Turning his attention back to the battle, Leslie discerned what would be best for the team to do next. "Beau, keep Lily's attention on that Sentret, Blade'll take out the leader of the gang." He told his partner. "Blade! Bowl that bug over with a Flame Wheel, then turn it around and nail it again!" Blade looked back at his trainer and nodded. He grunted a quiet "Ta." before curling himself into a flaming ball...

0.3 Isabeau was impressed by the fact that Blade, a Rattata, could learn the move Flame wheel. Leslie must be a really great trainer if he was able to teach his Pokémon such a move Isabeau thought, suddenly embarrassed by her lack of skill. She bit her lip as she willed her focus back to the battle. He claims not to know that much about Pokémon but I doubt that she thought once more before she began analyzing her own situation. Beau cringed when she heard Lily get hit by the opposing Sentret. Her hand clenched in worry as she remembered back to their first battle together. Lily had barely gotten out conscious when she faced off against the Oddish. But then Lily hit the Oddish with her razor leaf attack and then the tackle attack. Isabeau unfurled her fist and shook it out. Small indents in her palm, the shape of crescent moons, were the only indication of how nervous she had been. Good job Lily, youre doing great! Isabeau called to her Pokémon with a smile. Now what to do next she thought as her focus turned to the Sentret. Its labored breathing indicated to her that the Pokémon was heavily weakened from Lilys attacks. Sounds good, Isabeau said in reply to Leslies plan. There was something she wanted to do first before she got involved with the Ledyba anyways. Although the Sentrets situation made her sad, it brought a small smile to her face. She swung her back around to the front of her body and began rummaging around in it. Finally her long fingers curled around the small sphere and drew it out. She rolled the Pokéball in her hand until she located the small button and then pressed it. The Pokéball grew in size and Isabeau smiled. Hopefully this time she would actually catch the Pokémon. Lily, if this doesnt work I want you to use tackle attack once more, Isabeau said to Lily. But hold back as much as you can. I really want to catch us a second Pokémon. The grass type nodded as she backed away from the Sentret, just enough to give Isabeau a clear shot at the Pokémon. Please let this work Isabeau thought as she focused on locating exactly where the Sentret was standing. When she was absolutely sure she had the Sentret pinpointed she lobbed the Pokéball at it. 0.3 ![]() Rattata curled itself into a ball as its mouth opened to douse the entire sphere in rolling flames. Wheel of fire streamed along the grass below and launched upward at the Ledyba who was not able to react quickly enough. Blade, the Rattata, tore across the insect's stomach and forced it to drop to the ground with a cry. Blade landed and tore through the grass and left nothing behind but a blackened charred path where the wheel had cut. Ledyba tried to get to its feet, but the rat had built up too much speed for it to handle. It tried to summon tiny insects to its aid as they formed at its feet. Blade ran it through and pinned it to the ground and left it in the black path behind. There was no coming back from that barrage of attacks. Leslie was indeed skilled at his craft. Now the matter of the Sentret had to be dealt with. It had been injured a few times, and would soon be on its last legs. It groaned and lowered from that prehensile tail just to catch its breath. However, the living plant had something to say about it. The Bulbasaur charged valiantly at the ferret. Sentret saw this coming and made one final stand with a head butt of its own. Both creatures collided head on. Each sustained a bit of damage but neither seemed to budge in a test of strength and will. A test which Isabeau might win herself. Sphere touched the back of Sentret's head and drew it in with a red rope. Eyes widened in shock; the Sentret had been fooled. That ball dropped to the ground and shook across the charred blades of grass for a few moments. Time seemed to stand still as you awaited the confirmation of the capture. Finally, the ball ceased to move. Button on its front was now a calm gray. A familiar 'ding' confirmed the capture. Though the Sentret would be none too thrilled with this trickery. That would have to be addressed at a later time. But for now, bask in the milestone! You've made a successful capture!
