Lancio's travel path: Soggy Hillside -> Sinklands 1 -> Mist Valley -> Unclearable fog marsh 1 -> Malral

Eventual destination: Malral

Egg counter: Eevee Egg: 37 posts. Treecko Egg: 40 posts.

Lancio was still jittery and shaking all over as he and his group of pokemon walked into the rather squishy-feeling grounds of the Murmur Valley - that run in with the wild Shinx had been terribly close. If he hadn't had those Rare Candies in his bag in order to throw one out and distract the hunting lion cub...well, he really didn't want to think about what might have happened. Still, the lion cub had taken it's focus off him and his pokemon to eat the candy, giving them a chance to get away from the Sanded Grasslands and into the next area they had to travel through in order to get to Malral. At least that was the shortest part of their trek done now, which was a small relief to the artist in training. Yet he knew there was still a way to go before he and his compainons actually reached the psychic town of Malral, where he intended to go next for his next set of potential artwork: the artist knew that a town steeped in history as Malral was would certainly have some interesting things to draw, and help him to better his artwork by getting practise in. The only thing was that he knew full well Murmur Valley further in would be a very tense, if not dangerous, area to travel through. The fog that was said to constantly blanket the place further in apparently couldn't even be cleared via Holy Mechanism: and sadly, the shortest route to Malral involved going right through this perpetual fog and mist. It would be difficult, and he knew this. Yet one of the compainons on his team was Glitch the Rotom - a strange little spirit made of crackling blue electicity. Hopefully the ghost's light would make it a little easier to see and move along once they got to that unclearable fog: but he made a mental note to recall everyone but Tanooki (he could carry the young Zigzagoon easily in his arms, after all) and Glitch once he got to the more dangerous parts of this valley. It seemed like if you really wanted to achieve a dream : such in his case, wanting to draw potential pieces of artwork in the 'psychic' town of Malral: you always had to work for it. Though he was very nervous, having the group of pokemon by his side made him feel a little calmer: more safe. After all, the more pokemon you had out - the less likely you were to be attacked, right? Lancio didn't want any fights: he was an artist, not a fighter. He hated hurting pokemon, considering most of his artwork involved them and all: he'd much rather try and run away than fight, and only battle if he had to. This was partially because he disdained the idea of harming other pokemon, as stated before - and also because he was timid and easily startled or spooked. (That was why the young Rotom Glitch found him so amusing, unknown to him.) Speaking of Glitch, the Rotom was spinning around like a blue and red top, attempting to make little 'slides' in the mud in that playful manner, Tanooki laughing and chasing the electric ghost about energetically, the Soothe Bell around his neck jingling musically as he did so. Though the two youngest members of the team were quite enjoying themselves at the moment, Rose the Bellsprout and Toadsworth the Paras were sticking by Lancio cloesly.

Rose was doing this to keep an eye on the playful raccoon she adored so much and make sure - like Lancio was doing - that he didn't get into too much toruble, and Toadsworth was simply sticking close to Lancio becaus ehe knew what the human was like - from when the artist had saved his life when they first met. He didn't have faith in himself, even thopugh he certainly had plenty in his pokemon: he thought himself useless and not worth bothering with half the time. Not because he was depressed or anyhting, but because he'd had so amny hard knocks in the past. Because of this, the Paras wanted to stick close to the human as posisble - as if to prove to him that he wasn't worthless. That and the bug could see well enough how nervous poor Lancio was at having to travell through this place, even if he was trying his best to hide it. By sticking close to the human, perhaps it would help calm him down a bit: being so jittery all the time couldn't be good for the poor fellow's nerves, really. Despite feeling anxious of the dangers that would lay ahead, Lancio couldn't help smiling a little at the childish antics of Glitch and Tanooki - those two were really getting along well. Probably because Tanooki: being such a young pokemon - was constantly happy and cheerful and liked to play, and the mischevious Rotom liked to play too. It was just that Glitch's form of amusement often came in 'spooking' others for the laughs and playing childish pranks on them. Ah well - everyone was different, he supposed. This thought aside, Lancio kept a firm eye on the two young pokemon as he trekked forward, Rose and Toadsworthfloowing closely: maybe he'd be lucky and reach Malral just as quickly as he'd reached this place? Lancio smiled a little, dismissing such a silly thought: no, that couldn't be possible. Things weren't that easy all the time.

Descending into Murmur Valley was marked by steadily decreasing visibility. The hillside didn't have near the fog thickness of the centre of the marsh, and so the pair of young pokemon were still easy to see as the raced around, playing. However, as agile as a little Zigzagoon and floating Rotom were, the hillside's grass was slick with water and mud. Very slippery. Watch your step.

Glitch's little mud game, intentionally or not, resulted in a lot of flying mud, and it seemed inevitable that that mud would land on someone. Most of that percentage of mud ended up on Tanooki, but there was a clear sound of splattering, followed by a sneeze and an irritated growl.

Stomping out of the fog into view was a large, annoyed-looking Bidoof with mud on her face, gnashing her big teeth and chattering angirly. One could wonder why mud upset her, since her entire lower half was caked with it, having come from the sinklands downhill, but one could suppose it was simply the principle of the matter.

Let any inclined to laugh at this pudgy beaver's chorus of angry growls, chatters, and snorts be reminded that those are some really sharp, strong teeth, and she didn't seem to know who had thrown the mud. The first one to show mirth would probably find themselves on the business end of those teeth.

Lancio's travel path: Soggy Hillside -> Sinklands 1 -> Mist Valley -> Unclearable fog marsh 1 -> Malral

Even as Lancio took his first tentative steps into the route, it was soon made clear that his knowledge that travelling through here would get harder the further they progressed was dead correct - even now, visibility was becoming limited due to the fog. To make matters worse for poor Lancio, it kept fogging up his glasses, whcih he couldn't see a thing without. This meant the artist in training was constantly rubbing the surface of them in order to actually have some idea of where he was going, which was terribly awkward, not to mention he wanted to be able to keep an eye on Tanooki and Glitch constantly without having to be distracted every few seconds to wipe his glasses off, for obvious enough reasons. Of course, he didn't have much of a choice in this regard: he couldn't see a thing without his glasses, and he'd never liked contacts - they hurt his poor eyes way too much for his liking. Thankfully for him, he didn't have to worry about lack of visibility too much right now: but he'd probably have to recall all his pokemon exept Glitch for their own sfaety once they got into worse conditions. He wasn't about to risk their safety here, or anywhere else, for that matter. They were only young ones, they shouldn't be getting involved in anything nasty like battles or the like just yet - and Lancio was the peaceful kind of person, so he'd rather avoid battles altogether. Sadly, he also knew some pokemon enjoyed battling and to get really good art, he had to work with the subject he drew under lots of different conditions: which meant he would have to get into a proper battle sooner or later. Not everything could be solved through peace and common-sense, after all - he'd learnt that the hard way in the Forest of Halycon, when it was still infected. That aside, his tentative steps were proving for him - the most reassuring and safe way of travelling right now. The poor timid artist was feeling terribly worried he might end up falling and slipping, knowing his luck, so this seemed like the safest way to cross the current unfammilar terrain to him while still keeping a close eye on the playful, youthful antics of Tanooki and Glitch. Speaking of Glitch - the ghost's enjoyment of the mud around him had not gone without conserquence, as Tanooki got appallingly muddy. Lancio shook his head and hoped he wouldn't get any mud on him- he'd rather not get his artist's clothes all clogged up with mud as well as paint, thank you. But he couldn't help feeling that thinking that would jinx him and get him muddy anyway...

Tanooki didn't mind, thinking it all as a game due to his youthful and naive mind (which it was) and wagging his tail back and forward more than ever: that was, until an odd noise made his tail stop moving around in bewilderment, and Lancio froze as well, face turning pale: that sounded like a splatter. Oh no: someone else didn't get hit by the mud, did they? His worries (for once) were founded, as instantly after the splattering noise there was a sneeze, then a angry-sounding growl. Lancio began to shake, half-expecting a Rhyhorn to come barrelling out and try to maul poor Glitch and Tanooki, who were just playing around: but he worried too much in this regard. The pokemon soon came out form the fog, being another mouse (Lancio seemed to meet those a lot) pokemon, this time being a Bidoof. Lancio blinked from behind his glasses - feling slightly relieved it wasn't a horribly dangerous pokemon that could potentially kill a person, but the pokemon was obviously unhappy. The reason why was made pretty clear from the fact mud was on it's face: Glitch's antics had gotten it all muddy. The Rotom blinked at this, and buzzed in what seemed a sad tone: oh geez, this wild seemed angry. he was just trying to have fun, not make anyone angry - if anything, he hoped to make others laugh because of his antics, not angry. Seeing the Rotom's sadness, Lancio spoke out, saying, "Yo-you didn't kn-know playing a-around would d-do that...I do-don't blame y-you. I'll apologise for you, okay?" The Rotom spun around and seemed to hide almost guilitly - like a child who has just been caught sneaking cookies from the cookie jar - behind Lancio as the trainer tentaively spoke to the Bidoof, saying, "E-excuse me?" Once he was able to catch the Normal-type's attention, he would then bow in that timid fahsion of his, saying, "I-i'm really sorry yo-you got all muddy: Glitch was p-playing around, and he di-din't know. Co-could you pl-please forgive him? If not: if yo-you're going to be angry at anyone, b-be angry at me. He's yo-young, he doesn't kn-know any better...I should have watched him betetr, as a trainer." Hanging his head, it was clear Lancio blamed himself, and Glitch was shocked. This human he barely knew was taking the blame for him? What a kind thing to do...

The young female seemed rather surprised at such a display from the human, her head cocking to one side as she sized both you and your pokemon up, her large teeth snapping together once again as her annoyance refused to dissipate completely. She gave her body a zealous shake, dispersing much of the excess mud (most of which happened to splatter off onto you) before approaching, feet stomping into the muddy ground.

With a growl, she snapped at your feet, intentionally missing. It wasn't an attack, not, it was more of am acceptance of your apology, if anything. She seemed to expect something for the disturbance, though, something more than just words and groveling. But what?

I'd say you better think fast, though. Her small beady eyes scrunched as she looked up at your hesitant face, before she suddenly lashed forward yet again, snapping inches away from your foot. Surely those large pearly whites could easily cut through any type of foot ware you might be dawning.

An impatient little monster, wasn't she? Not to mention demanding...

Lancio's travel path: Soggy Hillside -> Sinklands 1 -> Mist Valley -> Unclearable fog marsh 1 -> Malral

Eventual destination: Malral

Egg counter: Eevee Egg: 35 posts. Treecko Egg: 38 posts.

It seemed that Lancio's willingness to apologize himself for something that one of his own pokemon had done on their own free will and was simply playing around for had not only surprised the Rotom and touched it in some small wall, it surprised the wild beaver as well, the brown mouse's head tilting slightly to one side in an obvious display of surprise: but though Lancio's words were sincere indeed, it seemed that unfortunately for the violence-abhorring artist: words alone would not work here. This was made all too clear by a sharp clattering noise as the Bidoof gnashed large teeth together in a sign of annoyance, and Lancio's face turned pale. He really didn't want to have to fight here: but if the pokemon lashed out at him, he really had no choice, did he? He could hardly be expected to just stand there and take the attack, much like he had taken the abuse from the bullies in his past over and over and over again. He was a trainer now: and though he saw himself as more of an 'aspiring artist' than a fighter, he sadly knew that fights were sometimes inevtiable and could not be avoided no matter how much he would perfer to steer clear of them , especially considering he had many young pokemon as compainons that knew next to nothing about battling. If they were higher in level and knew how to defend themselves - and WANTED to spar - then yes, he wouldn't mind battling, if only to make his compainons happy. But horrible violence, bruising and battering the pokemon which he so loved to draw just to gain 'experience'? No, he would rather have had all his art supplies burned in a fire forever than do that. It sounded so...horrible. Besides, there were much better ways of settling things than bull-headedly going to attack every single thing you saw. However, it seemed that this time, he might have no chioce but to ask one of his pokemon to battle. Lancio tensed, clearly nervous as the wild Bidoof vehmently shook itself off, earning a soft sigh of relcutance as most of the mud got on the artist - now the mud had mixed with all the paint splattered on his clothes and would be a NIGHTMARE to get off. He'd really have to go take a long shower in the center after all this...but though Lancio was upset at getting his clothes so disturbingly dirty, he accepted it rather well. After all - his clothes were bound to have gotten muddy by travelling through this place sooner or later.

Besides that, he wasn't the type to get angry over such a small thing - unlike the pokemon in front of him. Speaking of the wild Bidoof, it approached him with stomping feet, both Rose the Bellsprout and Toadsworth the Paras tensing and ready to strike as the pokemon lunged, earning an alarmed cry from lancio as she seemed to snap right at his feet: but just when it seemed those razor-sharp teeth would make mince-meat out of his boots, the pokemon swerved quite deliberatly to the left, missing. Lancio let out a shuddering sigh - that had been too close. Did that mean that it accepted the apology, then? Though this seemed to be so, the wild seemed to clearly want something from him, eyes seeming to narrow at his hesitant face and she lashing out again - mere inches away from his boot this time. Lancio jumped: he'd apologised, and Glitch hadn't meant to get mud all over the wild. He knew that: but it seemed the wild wanted something else from him as proof of the apology. Rose the Bellsprout eyed the scene with contempt - why should Lancio have to give this demanding thing anyhting for such a simple accident? Yet she knew that he would rather not get into a fight - to protect Tanooki and the young Glitch from harm. Since she cared for Tanooki so much, she could understand why he was being submissive - it was for the sake of the young ones, so they should not get involved in fights before they were ready. However, the Bellsprout made a mental note to herself to use a Gastro Acid and Razor Leaf combo the instant the Bidoof tried anything else: though Lancio may not want to fight, she was more than willing to, if it meant protecting Tanooki. Lancio reached into his bag and pulled out what he felt would be the best thing to pull out in such a situation - his artist's tools. He would give the Bidoof some of his art: he just hoped and prayed that his skills as an artist would be satisfactory for the pokemon. Quickly, he moved a grey-lead pencil across paper, long poetic movements of the arm transferring lines and shading to paper.

Young Tanooki's eyes widened, his tail wagging almost as if transfixed: he really loved to watch his 'papa' draw. It had such a magical quality to it, even if Lancio was very unsure of his own abilites (despite them being very good). However, though Tanooki the Zigzagoon was transfixed, Rose the Bellsprout was tense: would the Bidoof like the picture or not? What happened next would hinge entierly on Lancio's drawing skills. After a while, Lancio finished his art piece and held it out to the Bidoof: it being a black and white drawing of the Bidoof. Though Lancio's nervousness was clear in the fact the shading work looked hurried, other than that: the picutre was astoundingly accurate. It looked almost like a mirror copy of the Bidoof: it was clear that Lancio studied well what he had to draw. Looking at the human, he sighed - despite the potential danger he could still be in. Drawing pictures just seemed to seep all his troubles away and made his trademark nervousness melt away into nothing, leaving him feeling as 'light as air', so to speak. He almost forgot who he'd drawn the picture for in the first palce, but then adruptly remembered that the wild Bidoof probably did not have as much paitence as him and said, " S-since I am an a-artist in training...I gi-give you a piece of m-my work as apology. I d-do hope it is a s-suitable likeness of y-you?" Poor Lancio felt nervous all over again as he shakily held the artwork out to the Bidoof: if the pokemon didn't like it, he knew the results would not be pretty. However, what he did not know was that Rose the Bellsprout was ready to attack should the Bidoof show any signs of agression, though the artist-in-training didn't like fighting at ALL...

The thin mouth on the beaver twitched into what almost looked to be a knowing smirk as she noticed the two-legged ones nervousness, his shaking only serving as a fuel to her already demanding stance. Surely if she frightened him, then he would give her whatever she wanted. Such was the attitude of the spoiled princess, and so when you suddenly took out a strange pad and a dark stick, she watched in curiosity, never before haven seen such items before in her young life.

Surely they would produce a wondrous gift for her, then. Especially since it was taking so long.

Least to say, when you suddenly turned the sheet around to dangle the artwork before her, she jumped back slightly in surprise, large teeth clicking shut as she released a warning hiss. He had called another Bidoof! No… The tenseness in her muscles slowly ebbed as she noticed how still the offering was, suddenly becoming aware of all the details that couldn’t make it a real monster. It was far too small, and there was no color to its mane. No, it was not a real, breathing creature. Especially since it was so beautiful, when the only thing that held such grace in this land was her.

So then what was it? Edging forward with trepid steps, she extended her nose to sniff curiously, recoiling slightly at the strong scent of something that surely had nothing to do with any pocket monster anywhere. Unsure, she cocked her frilled head, walking a bit to peer behind the odd plank the drawing was captured on, checking to see is there was anything more.

Nothing.

Eyes alighting in awe, she decided that this gift was indeed wondrous. Magical, even. Eager to return to her den to show off the rare human gift, she opened her maw, gently grasping the likeness within her mouth before turning around to trot away, not even expressing her thanks to you for taking your time to make something so awesomely, well… awesome.

Success!

Lancio's travel path: Soggy Hillside -> Sinklands 1 -> Mist Valley -> Unclearable fog marsh 1 -> Malral

Eventual destination: Malral

Egg counter: Eevee Egg: 34 posts. Treecko Egg: 37 posts.

Lancio's whole body was tense, obviously wruing up with worry and pressure as he drew - and it seemed even the wild beaver in front of him, waiting imapitently for the human to 'show' her how sorry he was - could see this, a somewhat sickening smug grin on it's face as the poor timid artist went about drawing what he thought would be the best possible 'gift' an aspiring artist could give another: a piece of artwork. Even though he was nervous: he still brought the greylead across the page with care, long graceful strokes swishing almost like branches in the wind - he put everything he could into his art, even when it had to be hurried. Of course, Lancio being as judgmental of his own efforts as he was, he really wouldn't be surprised if the wild Bidoof lashed out at him and dubbed his work a 'failure': almost everyone in his past had dubbed his art such, why should now be any different? It was sad: but though he had faith in his pokemon, he had little to none in his own abilities, could not see just how nice a person he could be because of the emotional scares that countless years of taunting and teasing had done to him: such trauma could not simply be undone in the snap of a finger. Thus, when he held out the finished piece of work and the Bidoof jumped back in surprise, he automatically assumed the worst. His face turned very pale and his hands shook - fully expecting an attack - but much to his surprise, no such lashing out on his person came. Rather, the Bidoof stepped forward to smell the picture, recoiling at the strong scent of the grey lead used before wandering around behind the picture to observe it's frame. Lancio blinked in bewilderment behind those thick black glasses of his: what on earth was going on here? Perhaps this pokemon had never seen artwork before? It was a reasonable enough theory: how many folks offered a drawing to a wild in order to placate it and avoid a fight, after all? However, this was not the most surprising thing for Lancio. What was surprising was the fact the Bidoof seemed curious - almost entranced by his art, when he thought he stunk at art and could do so much better, despite his current skill being good. Did that mean his own assumptions of himself - they were wrong? That others did not think him underserving to be with and a failure all the time? No...that could not be right. Why, then - had he had to endure so many years of awful teasing and pain? It had to have been his fault: those big nasties wouldn't have just lashed out at him for no good reason.

Yet, though Lancio dismissed this thought quickly, the thought was still ingraned in his mind: and it would be stuck there for quite some time now, as the Bidoof gently grasped the piece of paper and set off with it, disappering as quickly as it had come. The befuddled artist really didn't know WHAT to think at this: if his art really 'sucked' so much in his own mind, why then - had the pokemon taken it willingly for a reward? He really felt so confused right now - to have that which he'd thought to be true ever since he was young due to horrid bullies suddenly and adruptly smashed into so many pieces and proved false. Mind still a-whirl with confusion and befuddled emotion, the artist gestured for his compainons to follow closely as he made to walk on yet again: the less time he spent in this confusing place, the better. Of course - Lancio didn't have a clue that having the assumptions that he was 'worthless' and not much use to anyone broken was actually a good thing. he assumtpions had not been broken completely - they had been built up over many years. Yet, the event might show that there was hope Lancio's negative view of himself could be changed in time...

The quest continued on, though the trainer had been deprived of his new artwork, he had unknowingly inspired affection and appreciation in a young Pokemon's heart. This Pokemon would carry the picture, and become far friendlier to trainers in the future.

The journey passed on however to less friendly looking surroundings... As spread out in front of him would be a murky bog-lands. Standing water was everywhere, and a steady path to walk seemed to dissipate amongst the marsh and little sprigs of standing grass.

Squish. Squelch. Burrrp.

Rude noises seemed to emanate from this particular patch of mud, as one pile of dirt and slime shuddered, as if swelling with gasses produced by rotting vegetation only to release it with a slimey wet belch sound from a hole in its body.

But even after the gas was released, the mud pile seemed to continue to shiver and move... Before a pair of eyes seemed to float to the top of its mucky exterior, and the slime slowly spreading and parting, as it began to inch its way towards you!

Lancio's travel path: Sinklands 1 -> Mist Valley -> Unclearable fog marsh 1 -> Malral

Eventual destination: Malral

Egg counter: Eevee Egg: 33 posts. Treecko Egg: 36 posts.

Confused and things that could not be made sense of for Lancio right now aside, the artist had little idea how much affect his little piece of artwork that he'd given to the Bidoof in order to keep peace and avoid conflict had affected it, had no idea how much it had appreciated the art which he personally thought was so awful and could be much better: he simply kept on as carefully as possible through the slippery ground of the hillside, glad that Toadsworth the Paras and Rose the Bellsprout were on his shoulders and close by: travelling through this awful muddy area would be akin to his worst nightmare without someone there to confide his worries and annoyance in. Of particular mark on his 'this is really annoying' list was how dirty and mucky this place was: but then, it was a swamp land he was travelling through. What else should he expect but this sort of surroundings? But being a person who really, honestly DIDN'T like getting his artist's clothes all awful and muddy for obvious reasons - it was hard enough to wash off NORMALLY, thanks to all the paint that got on it when he painted artwork and adding mud, goop and who knew what else to the mix? It made him almost want to cry in fustration and loss: he was a clean trainer by nature, darn it! He HAD to be neat and tidy to actually draw good art, otherwise all the dirt would ruin his artwork: and he put so much hard work into that! He didn't want to ever get a piece of his art-work awful and muddy and make it look worse than it probably already looked: thus, in his mind, the sooner he and his group of compainons GOT to Malral, the better. At least there was one good thing about all this: travelling through this area would give the eggs he was taking care of more time to warm and develop. Trying his best not to get mud all over his glasses, Lancio kept on, Tanooki and Glitch still in front and playing cheerfully: but their child-like antics halted as the surroundings slowly changed. Lancio had apparently gotten past the first landmark now, and was in the next one: for the hillside that the artist had been travelling as carefully as possible over so as not to slip was now behind them, and a murky bog lands area now lay in front of them. Lancio felt a chill run through his spine: as if the walk hadn't been messy enough already. Who knew what sort of things lurked ahead now, in such torrid conditions? This in mind, he turned to Tanooki and said gently, "I-i'm sorry: but for your own safety, i'm going to have to recall you now. Th-this is for your own safety, lil' buddy." The Zigzagoon seemed sad he couldn't play with Glitch in this area too, but if his 'daddy' said it was dangerous, he wasn't going to argue. Thus, the Zigzagoon let himself be recalled. This left Rose the Bellsprout, walking right next to Lancio and keeping hold of his hand firmly with one vine - so she wouldn't get lost - Toadsworth the Paras, riding on lancio's shoulder, and Glitch the Rotom out.

The blue electrical ghost blinked, as if curious as to why Lancio would keep him out - he was just as childish as his buddy Tanooki was, after all. Lancio seemed to notice the befuddled look the young ghost wore, and explained, "That light you emit around you: i-it'll help us get through the Mist Valley, once we g-get there. Hopefully it'll help us through the unclearable fog marsh, too...so y-you've gotta stay out. Is that okay?" The young ghost twirled around in mid-air cheerfully, not minding being kept out, despite not having his buddy to play withy now: he could look at all the interesting things here! Lancio was glad the ghost agreed to this, and made sure to roll his jeans up as much as he could so as not to get them any MORE filthy before continuing forward, trying his best not to start sobbing to himself at how muddy and gunky his clothes probably looked right now. Rose was more used to these sorts of surroundings, being part poison-type and all, but even the Bellsprout couldn't help pulling a disgusted look as they trudged on through the mud and gunk, she really wishing she could hover like Glitch and not HAVE to walk in this stuff: or be small enough to ride on the artist's shoulder, like Toadworth. Still, she would have to put up with it. However, as the group of now four moved on, a patch of mud far ahead suddenly seemed to make a series of rather...disgusting sounding noises. Lancio froze, eyes wide behind his glasses: was he hearing things? Did that glob of mud just...burp? No, that couldn't be right...could it? However, the 'glob of mud' soon was shown to not be just a 'glob of mud' at all - it making another loud burp before seeming to shiver and move, poor Lancio's eyes growing ever-wider as a pair of eyes seemed to float to the top of the glob and it seemed to spread, inching it's way right towards them...poor easily-spooked Lancio was PETRIFIED.

He shivered worse than a leaf on an windy autumn day and whispered to Rose and Toadsworth, "I-it...it's the BLOB...wh-what're we gonna dooo?" However, his frightened whisperes were suddenly cut short as friendly Glitch did something that made him almost freeze up: floating right up to the creature. What was he DOING? He was going to get attacked like that...and if he fainted, how was he EVER going to get to Malral? He didn't want his young pokmone to get involved in a battle, not against something that looked so strong, either. But he didn't know what to do...! What to do, what to do?! If Glitch got hurt, he'd never forgive himself as a trainer, and so desperatly looked to Toadsworth and Rose for answers. The two tensed, obviously ready to attack if the strange glob of mud attacked Glitch. Glitch seemed ignorant of the possible danger, waving in a friendly manner as he reached the glob and saying, "You sure make funny noises! Hehehe...they're cool! I bet I can make funny nosies too!" The Rotom then proceeded to make the RUDEST noises he could think of, almost in conjunction with the glob and causing Lancio to just stare even more than he was now. Where on earth had the Rotom picked THOSE up? Definetly not from HIM, that was for sure. Or mabe the Rotom was just so playful in manner that such noises just seemed funny and thus came naturally to him...

The Grimer stared at Glitch, blinking at him, as he went through a string of noises no member of his species made naturally. She seemed bewildered, and actually fell silent for a few moments, before the blob of purple goo seemed to smirk. The Grimer then proceeded to let out an extremely loud belch, drowning out Glitch's symphony of rude sounds for nearly a minute.

She grinned triumphantly after she'd finished. Nobody beat her in rude noise contests. Nobody.

Still, this kid wasn't half bad at the game, and it was then that she finally noticed the other living beings here behind him. She lifted part of blobby self up like an arm and waved good-naturedly at the visitors to her neck of the Sinklands, entirely oblivious to the fact that her presence had inspired terror and preparations for battle. She was just on her way to the hillside, finished with her snacking on the rotting plants, and hadn't even realized that there were others in her path.

Eventual destination: Malral

Egg counter: Eevee Egg: 32 posts. Treecko Egg: 35 posts.

The wild pokemon turned it's gaze upon Glitch, white eyes seeming to bob around in the middle of all that...whatever it was that Grimers were made out of, a tense silence seeming to fill the air and only making nervous, easily-spooked Lancio even more worried, the timid artist wringing hands together constantly and biting at the corner of his lip: all this silence seemed just so foreboding and omnious to a worrying kind such as himself, and he only panicked and assumed that something bad was going to happen here all the more for it: he wasn't a confident trainer regarding fate, for obvious reasons. Mainly because fate had really seemed to be laughing in his face lately: as if being tremendoulsy bullied in his past life wasn't bad enough, he'd had to deal with POKERUST in the one forest that you never should have to worry about getting attacked in. Not to mention those three cat pokemon that were obnixiously high-levelled compared to his team, and he'd only managed to scrape a wing against them by the skin of his teeth, his compainons own abilities, and the help of a pokemon ranger: to have all that happen only at the beggining stretch of his journey had shaken the poor artist and made his little faith in himself possibly worse, even though he had learned a slight amount of bravery in the process. Thus, it was only natural that the sight of a posion-type that generally was seen with negative views by humans, because of how toxic it was and the fact it 'polluted any water it went in' should make him feel on edge and unsure of what to do, and that the more mature members of his team out reacted to Lancio being on edge by gaurding in case of attack: it was like the feeling of omnious-ness was passed on, in that regard. That aside, the tense silence continued for a while: you could have almost heard a pin drop, if it were not for the very rude sounds Glitch was making. However, the tension was broken and Glitch's rude sounds drowned out completely as the wild Grimer let out a loud burp that would likely have even put a Loudred to shame, continuing on for nearly a minute. Glitch's mouth dropped out of pure awe and appreciation - just...wow. To make a rude sound that loud for that long amount of time: he was but the 'learner', this was the 'master'. Lancio's mouth dropped as well, but more out of confusion and bewilderment than awe.

After finishing the burp, the wild Grimer gave a grin of what seemed to be triumphance - like that of a pokemon who had just won a battle. (Technically, it had, but anyways...) Glitch imstantly began spinning around and waving the little 'sparks' of electricity that were his 'arms' up and down energetically as a form of applause and appreciation - he couldn't exactly CLAP with electricity current for arms, after all. Rose just looked to Lancio, as if asking 'what was that all about?' Even though she didn't know what was going on witht that strange wild pokemon, it was obvious enough to her that it was of no potential harm right now, and she relaxed. Toadsworth relaxed and chuckled a little to himself at the wild's 'game': seemed Glitch was not the only mischevious and childish one out anymore. Lancio saw his other two pokemon calm down and blinked behind thick glasses, eyes a wonder - he'd expected the Grimer to try and attack, yet it seemed to be trying to make friends and be friendly. Perhaps this was another lesson from the reigon to him: even though he was nervous and easily-spooked, the 'reigon' had just shown that he couldn't be scared of everything and doubting the intentions of every wild that he came across: not all of them were folks that wanted to hurt his younger compainons, after all. "Don't judge a book by it's cover", the quote was - and seeing this situation play out, said quote suddenly made alot more sense. Just because a pokemon had a really bad reputation around humans - like Grimer - meant that all it's kind were nasty. Lancio quietly placed this 'mental' information at the back of his head, to clearly remember it from now on...if he was scared and tense around every wild that he came across, he might miss out on making potential new compainons because of his own over-worrying and fear. And what a shame that would be, if he was to remain with only very few pokemon freinds forever because of the judging that came with him worrying far too much! Unknowing of the fact that Lancio had just learnt something quite important, Glitch waved enthusiastically to the Grimer as it waved to them, saying, "That was awesome~! You're way better at that sorta thing than I am. But I'm going to keep trying until perhaps, someday...I become as awesome as you with that cool ability!" Suddenly, the human leading the way spoke out, saying, "It's ni-nice to see you getting al-along with others so well, Gl-glitch: but Malral's still far away." It seemed that - though he'd learnt something rather surprising from this - Lancio knew that staying here too long probably wasn't a good idea.

Glitch bobbed up and down at this, understanding this, and gave the Grimer a rather respectful 'salute' with one of his electric 'arms' before he followed the human, the human bowing his head in a respectful manner to the wild as he attempted to go forward. Rose waved a vine, despite feeling very silly on dooing so, and Toadsworth gave a wave of one orange claw as the artist-in-training attempted to continue heading for Malral: knowing the most dangerous part of the journey was still yet to come.

The Grimer, not a mean bit of sludge in her body, smiled at the trainer and his Pokemon. It fell a little when he said they had to leave, but she understood. It was the way of the trainer, to constantly travel. At least this was a nice trainer, one that didn't blindly attack anything in sight. Those were never any fun.

"Just keep practicing, kid. You'll get better," she gurgled, "Come back and see me someday, maybe we can have another contest," she smiled, patting her sludgy body and smirking a little. It was fun, but she didn't think the little floating thing could ever top her in rude noises. Sludge monsters were the best at that sort of thing.

The grimer bid farewell to the group and went her own way, back to the damp and muddy places where she could sink in and sleep, or do whatever it was grimer's did. Lancio and his Pokemon were left to their own devices.

The sinklands lived up to their name, and Lancio sunk into the soft ground a few times as they went along. It was the least of their worries, though, for the ground started to harden... and the fog started to thicken. They weren't in the Unclearable Fog Marsh yet, were they? It kind of seemed like they were... maybe the two areas has merged or the fog was just unusually thick today... but Lancio quickly realized that he couldn't even see his own Pokemon, much less two feet in front of him. The ground was steadily sloping downwards, but started to level out now.

Now what?!

Obstacle: Really Really Thick Fog! Visibility has been reduced to like... a foot.

Oh, and you're in Mist Valley! Or at least you think you are!

Lancio's travel path: Mist Valley -> Unclearable fog marsh 1 -> Malral

Eventual destination: Malral

Egg counter: Eevee Egg: 31 posts. Treecko Egg: 34 posts

Quiet learning and observations aside, the Grimer almost seemed upset at hearing from the battle-loathing artist that they couldn't stay here forever - as much as Lancio liked seeing his compinons make friends and all. There was still quite a ways to go until Malral, and they still weren't even in the most dangerous part of the area yet: he just wanted to get through the awful, scary fog and get it over and done with. The sooner they got out of such dangerous conditions (which certainly were NOT any place that he wanted the eggs he was currently taking care of to hatch in -newborn pokemon warranted far more careful care than that), the better. However, he wouldn't be surprised if more and more things popped up to slow them down as they wanted because he wanted to hurry to Malral: call him pessimistic, but fate in his opinon had a nasty habit of screwing you over when you least needed it to. Especially in a place that was as potentially as dangerous as this. He'd defintely have to do his best to be on his guard, despite knowing full well that being prepared that ANYTHING that possibly lay in the landmark that was to come would be near impossible. It was times like this the glasses-wearing artist wished that his glasses had an internal wiping system or something. it would be hard enough to see through the mist of Mist Valley as it was: but it'd probably be made even LESS visible due to the logical fact that the mist would fog up his glasses: and he was as 'blind as a Zubat' without them to see. Lancio couldn't help but let out a sigh = why was it that he had to suffer for every single piece of his art he drew, honestly? If he ever found the guy who made the rule that 'all godd artists had to suffer for their work', he'd CERTAINLY give them a good talking to. The resignation of having to pass through an incredibly tough terrain if he wanted to even get to his next 'art project' aside, the Grimer gurgled something in poketalk to Glitch, who seemed to bow and nod in that respectful manner to whatever it had said: and with a cheerful-looking wave, it left them to their own buisness.

Lancio waved back silently before trudging on, he noticing that Toadworth the Paras's grip on his shoulder got all the tighter, and Rose the Bellsprout only wound her vine tighter as well, which made it incredibly awkward when Lancio occasionally sunk into the soft ground a few times: yet this was nothing compared to what was to come. The ground seemed to harden beneath the artist's feet all too quickly, and that dreaded fog rolled in: Lancio couldn't even see Rose and Toadsworth clinging to him in very intelligent manners, let alone Glitch, who was floating only one FOOT behind him. Seriously, was his eyesight so bad in this fog that he couldn't even see the pokemon clinging to his own person? He really needed betetr glasses, if that was the case. Taking the glasses off, Lancio wiped them due to them fogging up: but when he palced them back on, his vision was as limitied and crappy as it had been before. Thinking that having mroe pokemon out than he needed to would be dangerous for obvious reasons, Lancio quickly recalled Toadsworth and Rose (though they gripped rather painfully to his leg or shoulder even as they knew what the artist was doing) - now the only one out was Glitch, who he couldn't even SEE. He had hoepd the electricity the ghost gave off would be enough to light the way SOMEWHAT, but it seemed as though it wouldn't be that easy, sadly...scared witless at this point, and shaking like a leaf, Lancio called to Glitch, saying as loud as he could, "G-glitch! Come r-right next to me, p-p-please..." The Rotom blinked, head ringing. Jeez: the human was only a foot in front of him. Then again, even HE couldn't see anything in this,a nd his body was practically MADE out of light and stuff: thus it stood to reason that the human he knew to be nervous and easily scared would be petrified. The Rotom moved towards the human's loud voice, at which Lancio said, "Th-this may sound stupid...but use Discharge! Using that pwoerful an electric attack should give us some light, ri-right?" The Rotom let out a cry of alarm: but if he used that move, it might hit Lancio too. Lancio sniffled, obvously too fightened to 'think things over slowly' like he usually did, and said in a tone that soudned almost close to crying at this point, "A-as long as it gives us s-some light...I d-don't care if it hits me!" Glitch blinked: though Lancio's voice shook and quivered worse than he was doing, he could tell the human meant what he said. Sighing, the ghost attempted to use his most powerful current electric move to give him and the petrified human at least SOME light to travel by...

Blinded by the magic.
0.3 :gexp - For the first time, my muse actually comes to me willingly.

As Glitch began to glow with authority, you could almost feel the static around you congregate into a surge of reasonably powerful electricity. The Rotom was somewhat aware that humans were not the best insulators of electricity, and resolved to keep the voltage under control. What was NOT good was that Glitch's concept of 'voltage' was definitely different from Lancio's, since Rotoms were after all manipulators of electricity - the ghastly Pokemon knew not of the fearsome qualities of flash lightning, or the fact that humans were so susceptible towards electric currents that even a Thundershock would be able to totally paralyze a human's heart, thereby shutting down his life processes and conveniently ending his life. Fortunately for Lancio, the Rotom did have quite a bit of common sense, as the ghost Pokemon floated away from you, right into the fog, before unleashing the same power that put your hair on end.

And at the instant, the ENTIRE place lit up.

At that level of experience, Glitch's Discharge certainly didn't pierce the heavens or did anything that epic, but it was enough to light up the entire place. The outcome, however, was not what you expected at all. Because of the sheer density of fog and the refractive index of water being higher than that of air, light actually bends. In this case, you were shrouded not by fog, but by a glaring veil of light for at least 5 minutes. If you couldn't see a single thing at all before the Discharge... well, the sudden release of light was trapped within the vortex of fog, unable to dissipate fast enough. You were blinded, in short, by the trapped light. Instinctively, you shielded your eyes with your hands, and the intensity of light was so strong that you eyes could barely take it. Instead, you shut them in pain since you couldn't see anything anyway - the amount of light created more illusions than provided sight; took away more of your vision instead of granting any. And at that very moment, Discharging seemed like the stupidest idea in the world.

And for Glitch to Discharge right beside you... that seemed even stupider.

But the final consequences paid off, as the light slowly but certainly dissipated into the fog. The place certainly seemed a lot brighter, and you had a bit more visibility than you could have hoped for, since the light was able to bring sight from a further distance. There was, however, a problem. Given the high refractive index of water, the light seemed to bounce more than what you have expected, instead laying your path with not one, not two, but MULTIPLE images. All around you, you see overlaps of images of what lies ahead - water bodies, dead plants, gloomy forests and the like. There was actually a good side to this, really - you know have a better idea of what to expect miles ahead of you - water bodies, dead plants, gloomy forests and the like.

The bad? You couldn't tell what were the images that portrayed the path directly in front of you. Yes, you know there are water bodies, dead plant, gloomy forests and the like ahead of you. But you don't know the order they appear in, you see. You can't tell if the obstacle in front of you is a water body, dead plant or a gloomy forest. You can't even tell if there is anything directly in front of you. So while this gives the long term view... you can't see the short term. Not at all.

What is certain though - your visibility will certainly improve. It will simply take longer, as the light finally travels in an agreeable manner. But for now, deal with the multiple illusions I guess.

Lancio's travel path: Mist Valley -> Unclearable fog marsh 1 -> Malral

Eventual destination: Malral

Egg counter: Eevee Egg: 30 posts. Treecko Egg: 33 posts

Though Lancio had been panicky and quick in blurting out the first idea that had come to the front of his mind, no matter how dumb it sounded: perhaps in retrospect, the timid artist should not have let his fear take him over in such a way. Asking a young pokemon whose knowledge of keeping the voltage of such an attack at a 'reasonable level' so as not to electrocute anybody was likely very limited to use Discharge right NEXT to you? Well, that only proved that eveyone had their 'dumb' moments, right there. As smart as Lancio could be at times: letting his usually slow methodical and intelligent mind be clouded and contaiinated with the clouds of fear forced him to act against what was normal for him, aganst his very nature as a person. For someone's reactions to be more quick because of fear was only a natural thing: yet Lancio hated it. He hated what it did to him, and yet he was too much of a easily-frightened soul to actually control this fear. He'd hardly controlled anything in his life, wether it be the many situations in his past where the bullies had pushed him around and psychologically and physically harmed him for even WANTING to become a MALE artist, or now: he hated confronatations of any sort, so he'd silently let the fear overtake him and stood back and taken all that horrid teasing. So many years of silently taking so much andletting fear rule him meant that it was certainly not an easy habit to break: whenever in a sitaution, he naturally panicked and let that old fear return because he was so used to doing so. Not panicking required all his strength and nerves: and his nerves had been too frazzled right now to even work properly and make him think things over. He felt like even more of a failure as a trainer because of his own painfully obvious weakness: however, Lancio ddin't have the time to sadly mope about, Glitch beggining to glow some distance away from him (apparently, the Rotom had more common sense than the poor petrified mind of Lancio did in this senario) and Lancio feeling every hair under his artist's cap stand on end before the Rotom released the pent-up electricity with a whirl of his 'arms': however, what the Discharge actually DID was certainly not what either of them might have been expecting it to do.

The whole area seemed to light up like a Christmas tree, quickly turning so bright that it hurt both Lancio AND Glitch's eyes to even try to look around, both of them screwing up their eyes to sheild them from the burningly bright output of light source. Lancio sniffled again, saying to Glitch, "I-i'm so sorry, Glitch. That was a dumb idea, h-huh? I sh-shouldn't be such a...miserable coward. My ideas when i'm scared...they're not good at all." Glitch let out a little chirpy cry: he didn't blame the human for that. He, as a ghost, knew well enough how people acted when they were really frightened. Lancio shouldn't be blaming himself for something that was apparently so mucha part of his character. Instead, he should be focusing on keeping on trying to conquer this needless fear of seemingly everything: this wasn't the human's past life, after all. Not everyone was going to try and psychologically or physically harm him like those bullies the artist had told him about, right? You just had to stay positive and expect the best in life: and the best would inveitably come to you. That was his logic. Though Lancio understood not the meaning of Glitch's cheerfull cry, the amount of cheerfullness in it did much to lift his currently dismal spirits, the timid artist saying (still feeling very awkward doing so while his eyes were screwed shut), "Th-thanks, Glitch. You're a r-really nice friend." Conversation aside, the light seemed to have finally faded enough to open his eyes, and so Lancio did so: and reeled in alarm at seeing what the light had done. There were multiple images, all seeming layered on top of one another. This felt rather disorentating. While the Discharge had given them light enough to see what was further ahead, it didn't give them enough to see any obstacles right in front of them...but considering how dumb the idea had been, Lancio felt that this was better than nothing.

Turning to Glitch, he said, "Th-thanks for your help. Now we have a better idea of wh-what to expect up ahead. But witht he stuff close to u-us...we have to be careful. Th-though I really want to get out of here quickly...it's clear enough that rushing my mind into things never ends well at all. I have to t-try not to let my fears control m-me like I'm so used to doing...otherwise, I j-just let everyone down." This said, Lancio then turned to in fornt of him: he had no idea what obstacle lay ahead. Was it water, dead plants or a gloomy forest? Thinking slowly about it, it seemed the best thing to do was to ask Glitch to float a little bit ahead and then come back and do his best to 'tell' him what lay ahead: he didn't want to go walking again and walk right into a pond, thank you. Turning to the ghost again, he said, " Gl-glitch...could you float forward f-for a bit and see what's up just ahead and then d-do your best to tell me wh-what's ahead?" Glitch blinked curiously: that was one thing he didn't udnerstand about the artist. He had lots of faith in his pokemon, but none in himself, though he was capable of good things too. Man, those bullies must have roughed the guy around mroe than he'd first thought for that. Regardless, the fact the human placed so much faith in him made the ghost happy, and he spun around cheerily before floating forward to see what was ahead and then go back the way he'd came and tell the strange human was exactly there was to look out for...

The little ghost slipped forward in the fog, gaze darting about eagerly, trying to make sense of the shrouded, dark surroundings, where it was hard to see more than a foot in front of your nose.

Figuratively speaking in this case, since Glitch really didn't have a nose at all...and in some ways wasn't much more substantial than the fog he was traveling through...

But that's a bit beside the point. The rotom slid forward, eyes straining to make out the closest of the potential obstacles or 'scenery' this place intended to provide.

What he really didn't expect, however, was for this particular obstacle to reach out and grab at HIM. Tentacles whipped up out of the wilted vegetation that he had just gotten close enough to make out the shape of, wrapping around him. With a squeal, the electric ghost let loose another bolt, lighting the swamp up once more, and projecting another array of mirrored confusion, and also probably alerting Lancio to the fact that something had happened...

On the upside, it did make the vines let him go. On the other hand...they weren't any happier with him over getting fried. And the shadow-shapes of the other wilted foliage was stirring in odd ways...

Lancio's travel path: Mist Valley -> Unclearable fog marsh 1 -> Malral

Eventual destination: Malral

Egg counter: Eevee Egg: 29 posts. Treecko Egg: 32 posts

Floating forward and eagerly following the timid, easily frightened Lancio's polite enquiry, the young electrical ghost Glitch found it hard - even with his natural electric element - to see a foot in front of his own body, despite the Discharge he'd used to try and light up the place before. He had to practically strain his eyes to even make out anything at all: but despite this, he kept trying. After all, he wanted to 'see' just what was up ahead for the artist - even if he ddin'tunderstand the way the self-doubting human's mind worked, he had a responsibility to look out for the guy, at the very least. The only things'bad' that SHOULD happen to the timid Lancio were the childish pranks he pulled, in his opinon. He wasn't about to let anyone else get away with doing stuff: the artist was 'HIS' human to play playful tricks and stuff on. Sure, he might be really negative and incredibly doubting: but he was so easily spooked that playing around with him was fun and exciting. You could always surprise him however you wanted, and thus Glitch quite enjoyed being his pokemon. However, this wasn't the only reason Glitch wanted to protect him: the human was also very nice. He might play pranks on the artist, but he never went so far as to harm him, no way. Thus, he didn't want anything else to 'hurt' the timid artist, either. These two reasons firmly in the young electrical ghosts mind, he focused as much as he could to see the closest of the potential hazards and scenery - and eventually saw that he was floating above a patch of dead foilage and the like. Pleased with having seen that much, Glitch readied to turn back around and head back to Lancio to tell him this: however, just as he had this thought in mind, the 'dead' foilage beneath him seemed to suddenly sprout new vines out of nowhere - the vines twisting themselves arund his body as if to constrict and strangle him. The ghost wailed in that childish manner, saying, "H-hey! What did you do THAT for? I'm only passing by with my friend....lemme go!" Instinctively upon being attacked, the young electrical ghost let out another crackle of discharged electricity - the swamp lighting up and projecting another array of confusion once again.

Lancio saw the flash of sudden light and confusion from where he'd been waiting for Glitch to return, and panicked: something bad must be happening. Glitch wouldn't just let out another Discharge like that for no good reason = but would he even reach the Rotom in time before anything bad happened? The timid artist heard those almost taunting words in the back of his head rise again, sneering: You can't do it. You can't save anyone. You'll NEVER reach Glitch in time, and it's all YOUR fault if something bad happens to him. You're worthless...no SANE trainer would let their pokemon go forwards like that. Yet Lancio for once - actually DIDN'T listen to the sneering voice in the back of his head that was the cause of all his self-doubting. He was too worried about Glitch's well-being to listen to it. Thinking quickly, the artist reasoned that since Glitch had floated straight ahead: if he just ran forwards in a straight line, he'd get to Glitch and be able to see just what was going on. He couldn't let anything bad happen to his compainon...he just couldn't! He'd never forgive himself: with that, Lancio rushed forward, not caring about the possible dangers. He just wanted to help Glitch and keep him safe...meanwhile, back where Glitch was, the Rotom was glad to see that his sudden Discharge had forced the vines to let go of him - and he saw just WHAT the vines were attached to, seeing an angry-looking Bellsprout below. The grass around the Bellsprout seemed to be stirring in odd ways, too, and Glitch knew that if there was a heap of pokemon back there: he wouldn't be able to take them on all by himself. The human Lancio had to come here, and quick, before anything happened. Thinking about it, Glitch guessed his Discharge might possibly have attracted the artist's attention - yet this Bellsprout didn't seem like it was going to wait. Speaking up again, Glitch spoke, saying, "Why'd you do THAT for? I'm just trying to get to Malral with my human friend...I dun wanna attack anyone, and you MADE me haveta zap out to make you let go! He'll be here soon: and he's really nice! Besides...he already HAS a Bellsprout. I don't think he'd want to catch you or any of your buddies, so could you please not attack? I dun wanna have ta fight you..." It was clear the thought of hurting this pokemon again was making Glitch sad by his tone of voice, and he wanted to avoid having a whole MOB of pokemon attacking him and Lancio - yet would the Bellsprout believe him? If not, the Rotom hoped that this 'distraction' of talking to the wild would give the human enough time to actually GET HERE...

Pushing yourself forward in a dark swamp was perhaps not the most brightest idea to have.

As Glitch panicked and again let off a discharge at random, the Bellsprout was electrocuted for a second time. As you can understand, the grass pokemon was not happy about the attack, regardless of how resistant it was toward the eletric moves. Grumpily the Bellsprout turned and attacked your Rotom again, attempting to essentially 'calm' him down, in order to stop the ghost from destroying her poor home. The result was off course some sort of tangly mess, which led to both pokemon taking some damage, which fainted neither quite just yet.
However, that should in your current position, be a secondary concern to the you found yourself in. See, in the rush to join your companion, you forgot to check your footing! As a result you had taken two very definite steps into mud and were sinking rather rapidly into the depths below. Glitch, however, was in sight and was still, entangled with a Bellsprout. In your current situation, a Bellsprout with vines to pull you out would be quite handy eh? Perhaps it would be wise for Glitch to befriend the Bellsprout so the plant pokemon could pull you out - as you were uanble to call any other pokemon for assistance!

Lancio's travel path: Mist Valley -> Unclearable fog marsh 1 -> Malral

Eventual destination: Malral

Egg counter: Eevee Egg: 28 posts. Treecko Egg: 31 posts

As Lancio panicked for the safety of his compainon and darted forward out of blind worry and concern, Glitch noticed that though he'd tried his best to speak nicely to the wild pokemon and talk logically to it: it still looked angry. it looked like it was going to grab him again in those awful vines - and the thought of being wrapped again with those creepy green tentacle-like protrusions made him panic. Even though he didn't want to fight, he didn't want to get trapped again = he had to get back to his trainer and warn him about what was up ahead. The last thing that was needed was for Lancio to get into trouble with these wilds too: if he managed to get away from this pokemon that seemed too angry to listen to him, he could flaot back to Lancio and warn him! However, though Glitch was planning to simply turn around and try floating back - counting on his agility to evade the wild - the thought of getting grabbed again made him jittery and nervous, and so he instinctively let off another Discharge once again due to his nerves. Even though it probably HADN'T been the smartest thing to do, and the ghost really should have calmed down before doing something as stupid as that...the young Glitch was so scared of those nasty vines wrapping around him like nasty green snakes again that his emotions got the better of him, and overrided his want NOT to actually get in a fight with the wild at all. Unfortunatly for the frightened Glitch, the wild just seemed to get more angry at this, wrapping those awful snakes around him and earning an alarmed squeal form Glitch, the horrible, constricting attack doing damage and only making Glitch MORE frightened: as a spectral, electral being, having his normally limitless movement hampered was not something he was used to: explaining WHY he had reacted so fearfully to it. Because the vines were wrapping around him again, Glitch seemed to be about to panic even more: however, the Rotom's eyes lit up in relief at seeing Lancio running towards him. The artist was really smart: he should be able to think of a way to get this Bellsprout to understand that it's vines wrapping around him only made him panic when he just wanted to - with Lancio - pass through here PEACEFULLY?

Lancio gasped at seeing Glitch entangled with a Bellsprout, and so attempted to pick up the pace: when suddenly, the next two steps he took made his legs suddenly be pulled down by some unknown force. Eyes wide in fear, Lancio looked down quickly to see that in his rush and panic, he had stepped right into mud and was quickly sinking: oh no. As if his luck wasn't bad enough already...he just wanted to cry. What had he done to the great legendaries to have such horrible luck constantly? The only thing he'd ever done was a GOOD thing: saving the forest of Halycon from the Pokerust virus: and yet, his luck just seemed to be getting worse and worse with every step he took. Maybe fate itself was trying to tell him he was a horrible trainer and should just give up now...yet, though Lancio sniffled and sobbed in that fearful, timid manner of his, he felt that now was NOT the time to feel sorry for himself. He had to try and DO something, since Glitch looked a little too pre-occupied right now to do much: hoping desperatley that he had not sunk in the mud enough that he couldn't reach his belt, Lancio would: if he had not sunk too deep - attempt to grab the pokeball of his own Bellsprout, Rose, and quickly ask her to use Vine Whip to pull him up. While Lancio tried to get at the pokeball of the one pokemon he had that could possibly help at this time: all the while trying his best not to struggle: although every nerve and frightened synapse in his body was wailing at him to actually DO so - if he struggled, he'd just sink faster. Glitch's panic at having himself 'grabbed' again was forgotten at seeing the human quickly sinking, and the ghost wailed, "Mister Lancio! Oh no...you're sinking! If you sink, you're never gonna get to Malral like you wanted too...and i'll never get to play any more fun pranks on yoou!" The Rotom was distraught: if he tried to pull Lancio out, he might just end up zapping him. What to do, what to do? Even if he COULD grab Lancio, he still had those creepy vines sticking on him like horrid snakes...suddenly, the young ghost had an idea. If Lancio couldn't get miss Rose out to help him: maybe this Bellsprout would help? But...he'd panicked so much and zapped her, twice. Why would this wild WANT to help him and the human? His attempts to pass by peacefully ONCE hadn't worked...but what other option did he have? if mister Lancio couldn't get Rose to help him, and this wild wouldn't help...he'd sink. Though the Rotom was doubtful: he had to try. Turning to the Bellsprout, he said pleadingly, "I-i'm sorry I accidently zapped you twice...I said before, I don't WANNA fight you or hurt your place. You just really scared me...I promise me and mister Lancio won't touch any more of your nice garden at all if you go pull him out...please! I d-don't want him to sink..." The childish ghost hung his head in a clearly upset manner: he was a playful being by nature, and only liked to play TRICKS on folks: not hurt them. The fact he'd hurt the wild Bellsprout at ALL - even though he hadn't meant to - made him feel horrible. He wanted to make people happy and cheerful with tricks, not be a jerk and hurt them. He felt very reproachful for what he'd done, and hoped that he could betetr control this 'electrical power' of his in future: but would the Bellsprout believe his honest words? Would she even AGREE to help Lancio if he could not save himself?

Oh, fate sure was having some fun here.

As you probably have realized now, it sucks to be kept under the mercy of your very own fear, especially when it seemed that your Pokemon had evoked the wrath of a certain Bellsprout, for reasons you were not quite certain of. And quite admittedly, you were pretty useless at the moment, remaining in limbo in the mud, unable to do anything much without ensuring that you would definitely not sink further into the disgusting mud. And even Glitch was useless: being a Ghost-type has always been attributed with beneficial combat effects of being able to avoid all physical contact... but at this very instance did you witness the actual flaws of depending too much on a ghost. No Rotom could physically help you out of a quickmud, especially when there was an antagonized Bellsprout waiting to devour your friendly neighborhood electric ghost with a couple of attacks. And hence, you were suddenly completely exposed to crushing punishment and forced to beg for mercy from the Bellsprout. For if that thing really did decide to finish your Rotom off (and quite admittedly, your ghost has barely any HP left.) you would be practically left with NOTHING.

But the Bellsprout was not going to relinquish his advantages just yet. Oh no, she was simply having fun watching you sink deeper and deeper into the mud, trying to exact her cruel revenge on your uninformed and unfounded attack on her. Trying to destroy her home, trying to press your advantages while you were above the mud? The Bellsprout was willing to watch you die - she entangled the ghost even further, as though trying to make sure that the cheeky little creature didn't get a chance to look for help. This was a place where deaths and murders were common: the Bellsprout wasn't surprised or horrified at her heartlessness in ditching you here.

'It's none of my concern that your master's dying. This is Arceus exacting justice on you for trying to attack me without rhythm or rhyme. So many people die around here anyway.... your master is not the first, and nor will he be the last.'

But as she witnessed you sinking deeper and deeper into the mud, her inner senses began to whirl in overdrive. The Bellsprout's concern was not about whether you were going to die, but whether it would be in her best interests to save you. For if you sank, the Rotom would definitely not let her off. The only gamble left was if your pitiful plea was sincere, that you would truly and definitely leave her alone if she yanked you out of the mud. The Rotom wasn't THAT big of a deal to take care off... but she was almost certain that you had other Pokemon. And if you were like those cunning bastard trainers that turn on her the moment they were out of the mud...

Well, you were lucky this time.

A vine slapped mercilessly at your wrist (revenge much for zapping her TWICE) before intertwining around your entire arm. Then, as a soft grunt resonated from a spot few feet front of you, you could feel yourself slowly being extricated out of the mud. Your clothes were gone and your skin was sticky... but that was the least of your concerns, right? With a final resounding grunt, you soon found yourself panting, kneeling on firm ground beside that deadly mud sink. Behind you, the Bellsprout had already recovered from the exertion, and was simply waiting to counter against anything you might do to her.

Lancio's travel path: Mist Valley -> Unclearable fog marsh 1 -> Malral

Though Lancio did indeed try to see if he could let out another of his pokemon - also a Bellsprout - in order to help him from this horrible mud that seemed to be slowly and malovently tighting a cold, clammy grip onto him: he noticed easily enough that any moment he made would contribute to him only sinking faster. The timid artist sniffled miserably: he'd recalled all his pokemon besides Glitch for their own safety, so they wouldn't get lost in this infamous Mist Valley landmark: and now he was in trouble as a direct result of that. It seemed like any idea he tried - fate screwed over. Why did the legendaries throw so many awful things his way? He'd done nothing wrong...his only crime as far as he was concerned was being a practically useless (in his mind) person and not being worth anyone's time. Because Lancio had so little faith in himself, he doubted that the wild Bellsprout standing to the side and seeming to watch the whole situation with a rather smug look on it's face for some reason would even BOTHER trying to help such a pathetic, easily scared and worthless trainer as himself: and even if Glitch wanted to, he couldn't help because he was made out of electricity. He was going to just end up sinking in completely and dying, and this depressing thoughts only made the ever-suffering artist sniffle more. He was PETRIFIED: yet what could he do about it? He wanted to cry, he wanted to just curl up and a ball and avois it: yet all his efforts were for nothing, as usual. He was just as useless here as he was in any other situation...he couldn't even properly protect his pokemon. Because he'd recalled the majority of them, they would all end up sinking too. Glitch only panicked more at seeing Lancio look so hopleless and helpless, and again put forth his plea to the wild Bellsprout: but the plant made no move to help Lancio.

No, she just sat back with that almost smug smirk on her face, almost if she was enjoying seeing the human sink and the young ghost plea: even though when he'd accidently attacked the Bellsprout the FIRST time - even before Lancio sank - he had apologized, said he didn't WANT to battle (which was still true) and asked the wild if it wouldn't mind letting them through, as they meant no harm. Yet, even though he had done all this, the Bellsprout had continued to scare him with those vines and forced him to attack again, as if uncaring of the fact he was young, naive and couldn't really control his powers too well yet: as if she was willing to let Lancio die because of such a simple mistake. This made the childish Rotom mroe confused: and angry. SHE was the one who had attacked in the first place, not him! Why was she making him out to be the villian? He didn't want to disturb anyone's place, yet her vines had just yanked out of the grass and grabbed him without any regard for HIS personal space, without any regard for how he felt. It seemed the Bellsprout didn't understand or care about younger pokemon at all: and wrung those vines that he had SAID outright that he was so frightened of tighter around him, Glitch's expression looking mixed between two things: he was confused as to why the Bellsprout couldn't SEE he hadn't meant to atatck her and angry because of this, but he was also scared for the human's well-being. But with the Bellsprout winding those scary vines that clung around him and pressed tighter his fear of having his endless mobiliy restricted upon him, there was nothing he could do...he felt so helpless. Was this how Lancio felt, upon seeing nobody was helping him?

As if to rub salt into the already upset Glitch's wounds more (he was upset at having to attack the Bellsprout in the FIRST place to defend himself, upset it hadn't bothered to listen to his apology and reasoning and upset that everything just seemed to be going all wrong and nasty: he didn't want to hurt anyone...he was a prankster at heart, not a bully) , the Bellsprout said in an uncaring sort of tone that it was none of HER concern that Glitch's master was dying. This was Arcues exacting justice on the ghost for trying to attack her without reason or rhyme. So many people and pokemon died around here anyway: Lancio was not the first, and neither would he be the last. The Rotom wailed, "But you attacked ME first! I was just scoping out the area, miss Bellsprout: and your vines grabbed me outta nowhere! I was scared at being grabbed like that...so I defended myself. I already said that before...and besides. If I did something wrong...why should mister Lancio be punished and not me? He's done nothing. I-I should be the one punished, not him. I c-can't control my electrical powers, and when I try and explain and reason with ou, I only make things worse...waaaaaaahhh..." The young child ghost burst out into tears at this: and despite it seeming childish, he was RIGHT. The Bellsprout had attacked him first when he was simply scoping out the are and practically forced him to attack because he was scared. The same thing had happened when he tried to apologize and explain things: she'd lashed out with those scary vines and he - reacting out of blind terror and not being able to fully control his abilities - had acted on instinct and defended himself. The young ghost thought it terribly unfair that Lancio should be punished because of an accident he'd caused: but what could he do? He couldn't move, he felt like he couldn't do anything with those scary vines wrapping around him.

Wether his words actually rang logic into the wild's head or it helped Lancio for some other reason, Glitch did not know...yet his tears stopped as he saw the Bellsprout extend a vine to the constantly sinking Lancio - smacking him around with it before intertwining it around his arm, pulling with a resounding amount of strength and pulling the hapless artist out. Lancio let out a few sputtering coughs, shivering: he felt all cold and sticky for some reason. Why was that? Oh no...oh NO! He'd lost his glasses...and he couldn't see anything without them, let alone see the fact his clothes had been lost in the sinkhole. His eyes furrowed sadly: he couldn't even see the face of the one who had saved him, how sad was that? However, his thoughts were intterupted as Glitch cheered in a mixture of pure joy and that of a soul trying to hold back tears of relief. He couldn't understand what the Rotom said, but Glitch had said, "M-mister Lancio! I w-was so scared...thank you for not punishing him, miss Bellsprout. Y-you...can punish me if you really want to. I'm just happy he's okay...I didn't mean for any of this to happen, though. Maybe if I get strogner...I won't get scared of such stuipid things and lose control of mmy powers so easily..." This said, the Rotom fully expected the Bellsprout to finish him off: he was still entangled, therefore she could quite easily defeat him...but he didn't care right now. He was just relieved the artist was safe.

Speaking of Lancio...the artist had blindly found his bag and slowly, carefully put his second pair of glasses on (quietly thanking Arcues that he had brought more than one pair) and the world slowly came into vision once he put his glasses on once more, he seeing the wild Bellsprout regarding him with a rather wary stance...had the wild pokemon saved him? Lancio was clueless to all that had happened here while he and Glithc had been seperated, and said to the wild pokemon, "Th-thank you for s-saving me." He paused slightly, before noticing the reason why he was so cold and sticky, sighing to himself a litttle: he would DEFINTELY need a good bath or shower after all this, honestly. Regardless, he grabbed his bag again and used it as something to hide behind while he got dressed into some spare clothes - after putting the spare things on, he paused, getting out a piece of drawing paper and his greylead again, sketchign a picture of the Bellsprout and attempting to give it to her. He said as he geld the piece of paper out, "H-here. This might not be much, but...as an a-artist, it's my personal way of thanking you." Wether or not the Bellsrpout took the paper, he would then turn to Glitch and say, "O-okay, Glitch. I-i'm sorry to make you worry so much..worying i-is my job, not yours. A little thing like you shouldn't have to worry...let's keep going to Malral and le-leave this Bellsprout in peace." Glitch sighed in relief: atleast Lancio was the peaceful type and perferred to avoid battles, otherwise he might have had trouble convincing the human to leave the wild and her 'home' alone... but it sounded like Lancio had enough excitement for one day, and was planning to try and go around the wild's home. Glitch just hoped the Bellsprout would lethim go so he could show Lancio the way...

(INFO)

Lancio
:ml
Is a human, so does not have a level.
??? hp
Currently: Tried to give the Bellsprout a piece of artwork to thank her for saving him (because he has no idea what happened here) and is waiting for Glitch to follow him again so they can move around the wild's home and leave it in peace: he has had ENOUGH excitement for one day, and doesn't want to get the wild angry. (Which unknown to him, has already been done.)

:rotom
'Glitch' :gl , but is referred to as 'Male'.
Level 5
06/15 hp
Currently: Wants to follow Lancio and show him the way, but is still being held by the Bellsrpout and thinks she is going to 'punish' him...and knows Lancio knows nothing of all this.

The Bellsprout gave Glitch the evil eye, irritated beyond belief at all of his wailing. If only he knew that most of the reason she waited so long was because all his moaning made her even more sorely tempted to just let him sink.

Still, the trainer was free, nothing had been unleashed upon her, and the Rotom was babbling again, irritatingly. She yanked him in so they were nose to nose, figuratively speaking, considering neither of them had noses. "Word of advice, you little twerp. Don't start mouthing off before you know what's going on. With all your moaning and griping, I should have just let him sink. So learn to keep your mouth shut next time."

With that snappish advice, she flung the rotom at his trainer and stalked off, as he finished sketching her, not having even noticed Lancio was doing so, or the fact that he was offering her the drawing. Bit of a shame, really, as it might have cheered her up. Really, quite rude and nasty of her, when it had been a misunderstanding in general.

But then some people, and pokemon, are like that.

Still, the fog was so thick that she vanished in barely half a dozen steps, leaving the trainer and rotom sitting in the middle of a sea of exceptionally thick fog, sinkholes, and goodness knows what else. Hmm...

Lancio's travel path: Mist Valley -> Unclearable fog marsh 1 -> Malral

Eventual destination: Malral

Egg counter: Eevee Egg: 26 posts. Treecko Egg: 29 posts

Though Glitch's words did indeed have logic: it seemed his child-like wailings and pleadings were doing nothing but annoy the Bellsprout, it positvely glaring at him as Lancio worked on the sketch: but the timid artist almost dropped what he was drawing in alarm as he saw the plant suddenly forcefully drag Glitch close to it, as if preparing to use a powerful attack and wipe the Rotom out in one go. Lancio frantically grabbed Glitch's pokeball, yet the Bellsrpout didn't attack, no. It growled something that he as a human could not understand to the ghost. Glitch's body crackled with angry static at the claim he had been 'mouthing off before knowing what was going on' didn't he just say that this BELLSPROUT had attacked him first, without even a word as to why? And yet, though he'd apolgoised and made it quite clear that he didn't want to hurt her, she still thought he was to blame, listening to none of his logic and forcing him to attack again: and even when Lancio was trapped, she had not listened, though he knew he had done nothing wrong and felt like a jerk for even attacking her in the first place. Somehow, he didn't feel like as mcuh of a jerk for attacking her NOW: it was like she blamed everyone else for everything that happened all around her. It hadn't been HIS fault that he'd zapped the plant in the first place: her nasty vines grabbing him and invading his personal space had made him atatck out of instinct! She even had the nerve to say that with 'all his moaning and griping, she should have let Lancio sink'. As if she would have let LANCIO be punished for soemthing HE had done! Yet because he was so scared of those nasty vines that clung at his soul his very being, he said nothing. Suddenly, the Bellsprout flung Glitch at Lancio, the artist letting out a cry of alarm and ducking: but Glitch stopped himself just in time to prevent smacking right into the human.

The Rotom crackled angrily, he thinking to himself, "She was such a big meanie-head...and grown-ups say that WE KIDS don't listen! It was all an accident, a misunderstanding..but she didn't want to hear any logic or apoligies, or want to forgive for such a little thing! It serves her right if SHE sinks into one of those big sink-holes!" However, Lancio was confused as he timidly lifted his head back up: was his drawing so horrible that it had offended the Bellsprout and it had simply gone off without taking the sketch? He sighed sorrowfully: maybe fate was telling him he shouldn't be an artist at all. If he couldn't even make the medium he drew happy with his pictures...how could he ever hope that people would like them and want to buy them? Glitch's angry crackling was halted at seeing Lancio so forlorn-looking, and he calmed down, floating close to him in concern. He wished he could ask what was wrong: but humans didn't understand pokemon. Lancio sighed softly, muttering, "It's nothing new for me...people have hated my art even before I came here. Sitting here won't change that: I have to make my art better, obviously. I just have to get on up and k-keep trying. I can't overly rush myself or feel sorry for myself...that got me nowhere when I was stuck in that hole, and I don't think it'd get me any place now." This said, he looked up and saw Glitch hovering close to him concernedly, he saying, "D-don't worry about cowardly m-me, Glitch. L-let's just focus on getting out o-of here." The Rotom shook his head (or rather, his whole body): there was obviously something wrong, for Lancio to have such a soft, sad tone to his voice...but the human thought that the ghost meant something else, and said, "Oh, are you worried i'll fall into a sinkhole again? Well - while you light the way, I'll have someone else out too..." This said, he got a pokeball from his belt and let out Rose the Bellsprout, the grass-type swaying from side to side and blinking bewilderedly as she tried to see through the fog.

Lancio said, "Ro-rose...could you walk right alongside me and pull me out if I get into any trouble? i'm sorry to ask such a silly-sounding thing of you...but...it's so foggy here, I don't want to fall in another sinkpot and have Glitch worry over me again." The Bellsprout shook her leaves slightly ebfore extending a vine, wrapping it around Lancio's right arm: that way, she'd constantly have a hold of him and be walking beside him at all times, and thus could tell if he fell. Lancio smiled despite how horrible he felt that his art had been 'awful': syaing, "Th-thanks, Rose. I really appreciate it. Glitch, could you...light the way again?" The Rotom saw Lancio was being very avoidant of the issue and didn't want to talk about it right now: but his childish mind assumed this was because Lancio was tyring to focus on brighter things. Oh, if the Rotom only knew how much having his art 'rejected' had really cut the artist: but he did not, and so floated a bit ahead of Lancio and Rose to try and light the way for them so they could get hopefully a bit closer to Malral...

The three continued on, through the misty darkness, carefully working the way through the sinkholes, around twisted, dead husks of trees, though an eerie sort of gray world that kept them isolated. It was impossible to tell time of day, which way was north, or if there was anything dangerous more than a foot in front of them.

Rose, as a result, kept back, leaving a bit of an impression that she was 'walking her human' through the shadowy mists. There was an amused twitter from somewhere out in the mist at one point, but little else to interrupt this careful progress.

A few sinkholes and a lost shoe later, the mist seemed to thin out, leaving a breathtaking view of craggy peaks poking out of the fading mist. This wasn't more of the marsh...

I suppose it was at least a good thing people didn't get so turned around they headed back the way they came, right?

Found the wrong landmark! You're now at the edge of the Barrier Mountains.

...How on earth THAT happened, I have no idea. But it's still funny.)

Lancio's travel path: Barrier Mountains -> Malral

Eventual destination: Malral

Egg counter: Eevee Egg: 25 posts. Treecko Egg: 28 posts

Depressing thoughts of his art being pathetic and useless aside, Lancio slowly, dejectedly followed the hovering Glitch as the ghost attempted to light their way the best that he could: but even with the young pokemon using his electricity to try and light the way, the path ahead was confusing and it was impossible to tell if they were even GOING in the right direction, let alone what was happening around them, as if they were stuck in a never-ending fog of despair and lonliness, destined to forever be trapped amongst the mists. Lancio sniffled to himself, shaking such a thought out of his mind - though he was feeling rather cut from knowing his art had been rejected, knowing it was horrible...that was no reasoin to go jumping to such a silly conlusion. As timid, easily frightened and self-doubting of himself as he was... he still had an intelligent and logical mind, and when he didn't force himself to act against his own 'slow and steady' pace, it was able to deduce and quietly work things out: and what it had figured out was that being trapped in the mists here forever was doubtful. The legendaries that controlled fate - that many artists had drawn over the years and as such believed in - would not be so cruel as to imprision them here when they had done nothing wrong. Surely they would find some sort of clue, hint or small detail to show them which way they were going: anything would do at this point, as long as it pointed him and his compainons to Malral all the easier. Even if finding this suupposed clue might take forever, seeing as he could barely see his own nose on his face in all this fog. At least he felt reassured that Rose would help retrieve him if he fell into another of those awful sinkholes: he trusted his compainons and held much faith in them. He felt they could do anything that they put their minds to that was in the realm of logic.

If only he had that same unflinching faith in himself...maybe he would not be so doubtful of his own ideas, he would not be so negative about what he did all the time. That aside, Rose trailed behind him as Glitch led them forward, obviously wary about going into any danger - this earned a strange almost laughing-like chitter form an unknown source in the mist, but nothing impeded Lancio as he followed Glitch. Though Lancio had to get an extra pair of shoes form his bag and put them on after losing one of his currently worn shoes, luckily, nothing much happened on the trek than that. The mist seemed to fde and thin out, Lancio's spirits lifiting in hope that they might have gotten to the city already, without having to pass through that 'impassable' fog marsh: but his spirts were quickly shot down and made just as low and dejected as before upon noting craggy peaks rising out of the mist. These were the Barrier mountains, not the fog marsh - they'd gone in the opposite direction of where they SHOULD have gone. Glitch realized from the sad look on Lancio's face that he'd led in the wrong way, and buzzed in a equally sad manner, electric 'arms' drooping dejectedly.

Lancio, however, noticed Glitch's sad expression and said gently, "I-it's not your fault...an-any pokemon n-not native to here co-could easily get l-lost and go in the wrong d-direction in this place." Glitch cheered up upon hearing this: but that didn't solve their current problem. However, Lancio seemed to have an idea, saying in a soft tone, "These mountains - if one just followed the base of them, they would eventually be led to Malral, logically, without having to worry about actually 'climbing' said mountains...so this is a turn of good luck. What a nice change form all that horrible bad l-luck...we can just follow the base of these mountains to be led to Rose Town, and that w-way we don't have to go through more awful fog! Thank you Glitch....you found an potentially easier way to get t-to the town!" Glitch beamed at this, eyes wide in realization - Lancio's logic was correct. He now felt a lot better about 'leading the group the wrong way' if it was a shortcut to the town...but the question was, would Lancio's theory work in real lfie? The timid artist could only hope it would as he attempted to follow the 'base' of the mountains to reach Malral...

.3 :gexp for future reference, these Barrier Mountains are actually part of the Forest of Fury. :3

It was kind of the long way around, but it worked all the same, right? After all... mountains or an 'unclearable' fog marsh? Mountains sounded way easier. And they could see now! That made everything better, right? And there were no sinkholes, no mean Pokemon...

Not much of anything, really. Nature must have known that you had gone the wrong way, ending up in the wrong landmark, because there were no pokemon in sight. Or maybe fate didn't feel like digging out a new encounter list to find something mean to throw at the artist.

Or maybe someone just felt like being nice. Who knows! Does it matter? Not really!

Because the fog was behind them, and Malral was ahead of them. Right there, as a matter of fact. A man wearing a sombrero was standing at the edge, and beamed at the boy and his Pokemon as they passed. He tipped his hat.

"Ello! Welcome to Malral!" he greeted.

Lancio and co. passed the man, and for whatever reason, got the urge to look back. Just in time to see the Spaniard fade away as though he was mist.

Welcome to Malral!
