On the way out of the ransacked hospital, our intrepid group split three ways. Prosper, Floyd, Kaiz, and Jackson all took the rugged military van, and sped quickly through the charred land south, the Redhurst, on the edge of the region struggled over by the two men in power. The distance, quite the hike when walked, was covered with unsurprising ease in this specially-designed vehicle. Steely, Ben, Ian, Alex, and Arell were headed to the Observatory in Malral, perhaps by boat. Jared, Jemilie and Celeste would make it their own way to Deepwood. While the final two could travel with some ease, the attacks having subsided, the Camp Redhurst group needed to barrel ahead if they wanted any chance of preempting the moves made on the Battle Tower. The Observatory sat high above the mystical Malral District. Below, the people played, but up here, the scientists did the real work. Now, though, the instrument of such investigation was cracked open. The dome was split and flaming, the massive telescope laid broken on the ruined ground. And yet, it was empty. No squadron of firefighters, no media, no distressed onlookers. Jacob or Arthur, whichever had ordered the destruction of the site, clearly thought there was something important inside. But, it looked like your group was the first on the scene, despite the delayed departure. A dark, purple haze drifted across the ground, and a devilish cackle could be heard. Perhaps you weren't so alone. From the burning gash in the Observatory's roof came five dark spirits, and from their hands poured more fire. The Gengar drifted down to the ground, as much gas as solid. Whomever was controlling them was probably inside. Dispatching this first wave would be necessary, and time was of the essence. They tossed a piercing glare across the makeshift battlefield. Any plans of simply charging to the door were dispelled. Sorry for the shitpost. The Observatory is in ruins, but the entrance is being blocked by several Gengar. There was more planned for this mod, but it'll come later (tantalizing hint). ![]() 200/200 x5 (Haze, Mean Look in-effect) |

.3 ![]() Bah, short post, muse is tired and there's not a ton to work with. -__- Ian let himself feel on the rocking of the boat. His nervous attention kept steering his ears toward Ben, the other blind trainer. Ian had already determined that his pokemon were so much stronger than his own, and he really hadn't done a majority of their training anyways. Total strangers had gifted them to him already strong and battle ready. Ian closed his eyes and brushed his fingertips along his eyes. Tiny ridges along his skin twisting and branching like veins spread along his eyelids, out from his eyes and across the bridge of his nose. Nearly invisible to the eye from a distance as far as Ian knew, not so much to the touch. Ian wondered if Ben had been born blind or if he had lost his vision at a young age as he had. If he was as mobile as Ian he must be extremely comfortable with his position in life. Ian had so many questions... But he remained silent, this was no time for blind boy bonding, no matter how much alliteration made it sound like a good idea. Instead he stroked Nibbs in his lap. The rat slept lightly, his tan ears flicking occasionally at a thump or sound that emitted from the nether regions of the boat. Nibbs had slipped back into his role as Ian's defender without so much as a thought as to how he had been squashed like a bug by some very dangerous pokemon not too long ago. Sasha had just been pissed that his dignity had been damaged. Ian had probably thanked Steely a thousand times for the revives, but they were still damaged, not at full capacity. Ian wanted them to be safe but that didn't seem like an option. They didn't want Ian to hold them back, and once Ian and the rest reached the observatory, they certainly would have the chance to take to the field again. But five gengar? Seriously? Ian only had normal types with him, hell he only had normal types period. Half of the moves his pokemon used would phase right through them. On the other hand, the same could be said for the ghosts' attacks as well. Ian couldn't stand around and do nothing and Nibbs was bristling for action, pacing side to side in front of Ian. "Hold on there cowboy," Ian said, actually smiling a little and sneaking a foot in front of Nibbs to keep him from dashing out before he was ready. A quick flick of his hand to his belt and Dalal and Sasha flashed into being. "Dalal use hypnosis to put two gengar to sleep. Then Sasha go in with bite and then assurance on both of them. Nibbs use crunch. Regular attacks won't work on them, keep that keep that in mind... and be careful..." Ian was sure these gengar were once again much stronger than his team, but hopefully more careful tactics would keep his pokemon in as little danger as possible against these larger foes. .3 (*pats* My muse abandoned me entirely yesterday. Let's see if today is any better.) Pokemon/Items Ben, like Ian, found much of his attention drifting towars the other blind person in the vicinity. It had been years upon years since he had met someone else who was blind, and only then for a short time, when he had gotten Jax, and they their own Seeing Eye Pokemon. He was vaguely tempted to let the great white hound out for comfort, but she hated the water. It might have made more sense to let the team headed off the mainland take the boat, but logic didn't play into things at times. Like Ian, he had many questions, like how long had he been training or what had made him decide to. Had he run away from overprotective parents, like Ben himself had? How many pokemon did this other blind trainer have? He had likely brought his best and most experienced with him, and jusging by earlier, this meant it was unlikely that Ian had been training as long as he had. It was doubly discomfiting, as he normally hating having questions asked about his own lack of sight, and here he was, now wondering somewhat similar things about another like him. Different from Ian, however, he had a sixth, (or in their case, fifth) sense of sorts, that revealed to him the nervous, jittery Aura of the other blind trainer, and he was fairly certain that a lot of the trainer's attention was on him. He also sensed Steely, Alex and Arell's Auras, much less agitated, but still uneasy. It was a cloud, that emotion. This was all going, as Steely had put earlier, to 'Hell in a Handbasket.' Little they could do but try to survive the ride and the eventual destination, at this point. 'There are two of you.' Another of Steely's comments floated back to him. He hadn't been certain what to make of it, so had kinda ended up shrugging, while smiling and nodding in Alex and Arell's directions. He resolved to exchange numbers with Ian, to hopefully talk more later. But before he could suggest it, the boat had landed, and he cursed himself mentally for not speaking sooner. Still... The observatory waited, atop a hill, cracked and smoking, its pride and joy shattered and lying broken on the ground like a discarded child's toy. He faltered slightly, however, as they approached, likely falling behind the others a pace or two. The sheer malevolence radiating from the place...it almost shocked him the others couldn't sense it. "Kekekekekeke..." The malevolence solidified into five loci, drifting down and casting a melvolent gaze upon the crowd. Little Faith, on his shoulders, slicked her ears back and growled softly, as a mist seeped out, surrounding the group as the Gengar approached, laughing. Ben's first thought was about Ian's pokemon, and how they had been flattened last time. But, it felt insulting to go around assuming he pokemon would suffer the same fate once more. But it would likely be worse to lose his pokemon a second time in so short a time... That decided him. Two flashes of red, and he was flanked by a great white hound and a jackal-headed warrior. Anubis paused a moment, taking in the situation. "On it." And he bounded forward, beside the stantler, eyes glowing bright purple as he focused on the two targets chosen by Ian and his pokemon. Ben put a hand on Jax's shoulder a moment, but only to hold her back long enough for Faith to hop aboard. "Get one of the others. Help her out, Faith." The leafeon yapped quietly, encouraging and bolstering her ride's confidence, as she raced forward, at a third of the Gengar, flames licking about her muzzle as she went in for the kill, enhanced further by the bits of charred wood permanently crumbled about her jaws. He slipped sideways a bit, hesitant a moment, before going and patting Ian on the shoulder, absently noting for the first time the difference in their heights. "You'll do fine," he said, quietly, his attention directed toward the fight, keeping track of all the Auras spreading out, keeping particular track of Ian's three and his own. ~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~ ![]() 311/390 ![]() ~ Inner Focus - cannot be flinched - Psychic on Ian's Gengar #1 - Psychic on Ian's Gengar #2 :faith ![]() 290/290 ![]() ~ Riding Jax - Helping Hand x2 on Jax :jax ![]() 420/420 ![]() ~ Charcoal - ups the power of fire moves (does not count as a hold item) - Fire Fang x2 on Gengar #3 Edited by DarthEevee, Jan 30 2010, 11:01 AM.

.3 my muse is gone for this event, so just posting so I don't leave you guys all alone.Hell in a handbasket. Yeah, that was a good way to describe it. Instead of boring everyone with lots of writing, the charizard and metagross burst from their Pokeballs and streaked off. The flying orange lizard bellowed and flapped at one of the Gengars, his claws trailing a blackish aura, the same kind that the ghosts had. Pyre dove a little, slashing at one of the Gengars, then quickly flapping up, then down at another, slashing with another claw. He wheeled back up into the air to get a good look at what was going on. Ozma, instead of staying at a distance, hovered in too, though not nearly as fast as Pyre did. He was a lot heavier and hit harder, and proved this by smashing the X on his face into the same Gengar that Pyre attacked first, the bit of metal colored bright pink with psychic energy. The solid creature flew through the ghostly one, heading for the other one that Pyre had attacked too, aiming to hopefully take the both of them out. Steely was being... oddly quiet through all this (As she had been for most of the ride over), watching from the front. Ben... might notice something... different? .1 Dark, ethereal beings, as incorporeal as smoke, drifting in front of you. Were they the lone defenders of this Observatory? Did they alone wreak such havoc on the mangled, mashed building? Surely, not. As was becoming a familiar feeling, you knew you didn't have enough time to sit back, pour a cup of tea, and have an intellectual discussion over the possible implications. There was only enough time to attack, attack, before you were attacked first. And as could be expected, it was done efficiently and with little fuss. The magi Stantler put on his wizard robe and hat, and snapped his book of spells closed. With a nonsensical incantation, he tossed a many-sided dice... success! Before anyone had moved, two of your assailants fell into a deep sleep. They were battered next by two small creatures, who just couldn't make much headway smashing themselves against whatever semblance of solidity the snoozing specters had. Then in came the big guns, a Lucario and Alakazam, alternating bursts of psychic energy. The two gas beings blew away in the faint breeze. (+1 to Lucario and Alakazam, +.5 to Rattata, Meowth, and Stantler)Then, Arcanine, saddled by a Leafeon, darted ahead. With a little boost from its rider, it tossed itself into the Gengar, biting down with flame-encircled teeth. It just wasn't enough, though, and it managed to retaliate with a meager Shadow Ball, then it was swept away with a sudden jet of pulsating water and a deep blue bolt of static electricity. (+1 to Manectric and Swampert, +.5 to Leafeon and Arcanine)Then there remained only two. Steely sent a dragon and a robot. Claws met gas on both sides, and a dark fluid sprayed like water, splattering the pavement. Then, metal cut through the both, a signal radiating from the Metagross's inner workings, dissipating the forces binding the being together at an atomic level. (+2 to Metagross, +1 to Charizard) And then, a moment of silence. Shattered, broken by a primal cry. The crack across the pinnacle of the dome, high above your heads, began to spread further, and something grotesque and snarling squeezed itself through. Mish-mashed legs found purchase on the smooth surface, and it stood up to its full height, unfurling massive, spindly, black wings, each as long as you were tall. Geneticore. Flying. It leaped off the roof, and it was wince-worthy and disarming how it caught the air and glided. It struggled to keep from clattering to the pavement, but, skitteringly so, it stood before you, twice the tallest of you's heights. It was matched only by the building it had laid waste to. Angrily, Kabutops scythes cut through the air while Scizor claw snapped open and closed. Jagged, clawed feet stomped the concrete as it lurched forward, maw agape and dripping with acidic fluid. Embers, sparks, they fell to the ground from its mouth. This particular breed had a few... enhancements. And it was eager to try them out. It leaned its head forward, and the point on its head glowed yellow. Somewhere up in the sky, there was a sudden discharge, and a bolt from the blue hit the Stantler, the first to move and put to sleep the Gengar from earlier. Instantly, the underpowered Pokemon fainted. The Geneticore made to lurch for the fallen Pokemon, mouth swaying open as it moved. ![]() 500/500 (Used Geneticore-brand Thunder. Winged. .5 (Fudgemonkeys. ._.) Pokemon/Items Ben cocked his head to one side as the pokemon swarmed all over the gengar, his attention turning back to Steely after a moment or two. Something was very different about her. Very different indeed. He shifted slightly. It was almost like she had a totally different Aura, than earlier, but that wasn't really possible, was it? This one was harder, more like the metal she took her name from. Closed, and cold. It didn't feel right trying to point it out, however, so he kept the concern to himself, filing the observation away, but trying not to think too hard about the matter, standing near Ian as he focused his attentions on the battlefield once more. The ghosts were dropping like flies. Jax grunted slightly as the one she had buried her teeth into managed to retaliate, but Alex's pokemon finished it off before she could exact revenge. Ah well. No big... Ben froze, head snapping toward the observatory like a lodestone, Anubis doing the same at the same moment. The malice, bloodlust...the sheer STRENGTH of the aura...both of them were stunned a moment, as the Genticore unfurled his wings with a screech and launched itself from the observatory ruins. He had never thought that there could be a being composed of nothing but the desire to destroy, to kill. A being who existed to cause pain and stuffering. The blind trainer felt rather like a stantler in headlights might at this point. And then the focus of the creature became more defined... “GET OUT OF THE WAY!” Anubis roared, dropping to all fours and blurring, but his trainer was already in motion himself. He grabbed hold of Ian, yanking him away from Dalal, tumbling out of the way as the heavens opened and vented their fury upon the earth. Right where they had been standing seconds ago. Thunder roared deafeningly, the reek of ozone clogged his nose and mouth, as he shielded Ian as best he could from the blast of pure power that rained down on the hapless stantler. He lay there a moment, the only sense left undamaged by the blast of light showing him the deer lived still, but was unconscious. “Recall him!” he managed, to Ian, practically shouting as his ears rung, making it hard for him to hear even his own voice. He pushed up slightly, shaking his head, trying to clear it, the rest of his attention still focused on the malevolent aura of the beast. His pokemon needed no orders to act, at least. Jax crouched low as the light faded from the blast of electricity. “Get over to Anubis!” she snapped to her passenger, and Faith obeyed without question, eyes as round as saucers as she stared at the beast towering over them all, darting in a flash of silver fur to hide behind the lucario as he skidded to a halt. The arcanine let out a howl, to get the beast's attention, the clouds parting as she did so, her plea to the heavens answered in a blazing sun, burning down from the sky and scorching the earth. If the gods were kind, this would cause the monster difficulty in repeating that Thunder trick, or at least make it easier to dodge.... And it increased her own power. As she leapt around between the beast and the fallen Dalal, she exhaled a raging torrent of fire at it, and kept it up for as long as she could, to buy the trainers time to recall or get the deer back on his feet in some fashion. “You had better get aboard in case it comes this way,” Anubis hissed to the pokemon at his feet, crouched low, ready to attempt to avoid the beast if at all possible. The jackal warrior raised his paws as soon as the leafeon had leapt to his shoulders, and gathered pure light from the sun on one paw, as Faith yapped encouragement to him, ears flat as she stared at their adversary. The silvery light grew and grew as he focused, then aimed and fired, aiming straight for the monster's eyes with a beam of blinding light and power. He followed it up with a sphere of purple energy gathered in his other paw, aiming to strike the same spot as the beam had, teeth bared. :jax ![]() 381/420 ![]() ~ Flash Fire – Immune to fire moves, powers up fire moves if struck by fire attack ~ Charcoal (doesn't count as hold item) – powers up fire moves ~ Sunny Day + Flamethrower @ Genticore :faith ![]() 290/290 ~ Leaf Guard – Immune to status effects while Sunny Day is active ~ Switching to Anubis' shoulders from Jax's back ~ Helping Hand x2 (Anubis) ![]() 311/390 ~ Inner Focus – Cannot be flinched ~ Flash Cannon + Dragon Pulse @ Genticore's eyes in an attempt to blind it; abort to an attempt to Extremespeed dodge if it comes after him and Faith |

.3 Awesome post Eevee! The battle went about as expected, under the assault of so many experienced trainers the ghosts dissolved faster than you could blink. His contribution was, less than spectacular, but he refused to feel useless. As the last of the gengar faded Ian relaxed, one more battle out of the way, and they could make progress into the observatory, and perhaps they would finally make some headway on these mysterious happenings too. Ian relaxed and patted Dalal on the head, she had done a good job. Nibbs and Sasha skittered back to him, still bristling from the battle. As he tracked their faint foot falls nearing him he heard something else. A whoosh and then a screech. Chills ran down Ian's spine as cold recognition washed through him. Nibbs and Sasha froze in their tracks, Ian cocked his head listening to the beast, tense. There was a crackle. Suddenly and arm wrapped around Ian and he felt himself pulled away and to the ground. There was a tremendous boom a flash of force and heat. He had been deafened by a lightning strike... once again. Ian registered the flair of intense pain from his shoulder as he hit the ground, but he had really gotten used to that pain and it only registered a low grunt. Ears ringing painfully, Ian barely heard the command to recall "him." A second of confusion registered as Dalal's gender was wrong, but Ian nearly instantly realized why the thunder attack had landed so close to him. Ian dove for her pokeball, his fingers finding the button that would recall Dalal. Simultaneously, he called out, "Sasha fake out!" The cat barely hesitated. He streaked towards the monster's maw and jumped up dodging its teeth, bringing its paws around its head and smashing them onto either side of its face. While it might not do much damage, hopefully the less then intelligent geneticore would still flinch in confusion. Sasha took strategy into his own hands and took a cheap-shot at the geneticore's eyes as well, claws glowing as he slashed. Nibbs actually was right behind the cat, coming in with a quick attack, but also making sure to get out again after what happened last time he fought one of these. "Get out as fast as you can!" Ian ordered, not able to hear his own voice over the ringing in his ears and actually unaware and confused. He scrambled away from where the geneticore had landed, unable to smother his fear and recognition down. He couldn't leave the others in the dark about the monster's abilities though. "Look out for its tentacles they'll put any pokemon that touch them asleep!" Ian shouted mind scrabbling for details he had learned from the "occurrence" in the grasslands, "It'll EAT your pokemon and it's got super stomach acid! It's exterior is so touch you can barely scratch it, don't hold back!" Ian had gotten way more personal than he wanted to with the last one when he had to fish Nibbs' sleeping body out of the last corpse's tentacles. As an after thought he added, "The other one didn't have wings though!" Having retreated a safe distance, Ian paused for breath. His mind kept lingering on the choice to run away. It had taken a small army of trainers to bring that one down, and Ian had been one of the few trainers that hadn't sustained huge losses. He quivered, waiting for his ears to clear. Being blind and deaf was nearly as terrifying as the geneticore, and his shoulder seemed to flair up for no other reason than Ian's memory of the last time a thunder attack had deafened him. .3 The Ghosts disappeared under the slashing claws and charging machinery, fading off into little wisps of purple before disappearing completely. The others had been dispatched by the time they had gotten there, leaving the two Pokemon to take out the final two. Finally, there was silence, save for the roar of the flames. Then, another roar. Something most of them had never heard before. Up in the sky, the Charizard bellowed and flapped away with a hiss as the genetic monster took to the air. It was a winged monster that could only have come from someone's nightmare, throwing down a bolt of judgment at them. The target went unnoticed, for the trainer looked, a shiver running down her frame at the electrical discharge in the air. Too familiar... too close for comfort. But, she didn't move, at least not until the discharge was gone. Then and only then did she take a step backwards, away from the beast. "What the hell is that?" she said, without any prior thought going into it. Her voice was different then everyone was used to, lacking the almost squeaky edge it normally had, but hopefully in the confusion of the moment, nobody would notice. Either way, her answer came, but from an unexpected source. Ian, the new trainer. She looked over at him and Ben, the pair of blind fellows, and realized what had happened with the Thunder attack. Tentacles that put Pokemon to sleep, it tried to eat Pokemon, and had a tough exterior. The wings were new, though. No matter how you looked at it, it was best to say at a distance. And out of the air. "Pyre, get down here!" she called out to the charizard as she readied her rifle, loaded up with tranquilizer darts, and tossed out Aloid's Pokeball. The rock titan didn't need instruction, only a target. The Geneticore was, in fact, a huge target. He bellowed, a dark aura rising up from his body, shooting at the Geneticore as he bellowed, a purple pulse coming from his gaping maw. The charizard swooped down to land, trying to protect himself from the worst of any potential electricity, and spewing a blast of heat and fire out of his mouth for the armored beastie they were facing. Ozma planted himself on the ground, eyes glowing all different colors, aiming to cripple the monster's brain... if it even had one. That left the girl, who had situated the rifle and dropped onto one knee to steady herself, taking aim. So the monster had tentacles and whatnot. She was going to aim for what looked like soft spots on the thing, hoping that the tranquilizer would take hold and put it to sleep... or at least slow it down. Something. (0.2 )So the Gengar went down without too much trouble. But if Alex had learned anything on these excursions, it was that any given scenario could turn very sour, very quickly. Case in point: whatever the hell this monstrosity was. Geneticore. Ian's seen one before. Guru transmitted. Alex listened to the few details that Ian could impart, and adjusted his plan of attack accordingly. It wouldn't do to have any of the assembled pokmon get eaten. Alex's trio of fighters stayed their distance, attacking from range and trying to keep away from anything that looked sharp or tentacled. Guru put up a reflective barrier to try and lessen the effectiveness of some of Geneticore's attacks, then blasted it with a burst of psychic energy. Dynamo opened with a burst of static, hoping to overload some of the monster's muscles, then followed up with a significantly stronger Discharge. As for Sturz, the Swampert scooped up some mud with a paw and hurled it at Geneticore's face and eyes. The intense sunlight that had suddenly appeared meant that water attacks weren't a good idea, but luckily Sturz had been spotted a couple of handy egg moves. Such as the ability to spew fire. .2 EVERYONE'S MUSE IS BREEEEEEEEEEEAAAAAAAAAAAAAD"Fuuuuuuuuuuuuuuuuuuuck." The best and most dignified way one could possibly enter combat, clearly. Followed shortly by a hop, skip, a jump and a less than dignified scream when holy shit lightning. Arell was not dealing with this well, no. First the ruined observatory--then the Gengar, which were dispatched quickly enough. And then--then, this thing. This monstrosity. Arell shouted again--and brought the muzzle of her shotgun up, lining up a shot. Out of her pocket fell Messoria's Pokeball--and the Charmander hit the ground running. The light had no sooner faded than it began to take shape, and charged forwards on all fours. Streaking out recklessly and heedlessly in front of her larger and more powerful peers, Messoria's jaws started to open before the lizard even rose up out of her faster, quadrupedal stance. With a snarl, flames tore out of her jaws--cored with white, spilling sparks--and unusual in their size and ferocity. The golden Charmander was still of the right mind to aim, though--and directed her flames into the Geneticore's gaping mouth, into the sensitive flesh of the throat--the eyes, the nostrils, anything that could be reached. The creature stayed light on her toes, too--like a bouncing ball of energy, ready to skip out of the way of the creature's counterattack. Messoria's tail flame burned a bit blue, ever so slightly--matching her unusually intense expression. :scharmander 140/140 -Flamethrower x2 of GREAT JUSTICE into the Geneticore's mouth/face Also Arell is over here being a derp and plinking the thing with 00 buckshot. |

.2 Pokeballs popped like paparazzi, Pokemon moved into action in conjunction. Red light, so bright, and its target was gone. Landing on its mix-matched knees, Geneticore's eyes opened wide, trying to take it all in. As anyone with prior experience battling this grotesque beast would know, Geneticore was programmed to identify the largest threat and take it head-on. The few small Pokemon could be sorted out easily, but there were several of similar size and apparent strength. Claws bared, a Meowth leaped into its face. Calmly, it was tossed aside by a bear claw. Similarly went a tranquilizer dart. In those moments, the sun intensified, and a wave of heat washed over the charred yard of the Observatory. Something clicked in that brain. Wash. A few Pokemon moved fast, rushing in, but they weren't fast enough. Geneticore's grizzled maw opened, pouring from it not just corroding super-stomach acid, but an unimaginable torrent of water. There was no way it could hit everything in the battlefield, but it rushed right down, hitting the strongest in its way. It bashed uselessly off of the metallic monster, splashing across the scene. Tyranitar stood tall, but the hit left its mark. Manectric and Alakazam weathered it with similar tenacity. Charizard, though, just landing on the ground for safety, was crushed in the wall of water. A trail of smoke filled the air. Their two trainers felt the stinging, thick liquid knock them to the ground, bite at every inch of them as they were soaked in the attack. After that second passed, a funnel of flame descended on Geneticore. Boosted beyond measure, and sent by two (plus a Hidden Power), so hot you thought burst into flames back away from the battle. It recoiled, throwing an arm up, which caught fire. The smell of burnt fur permeated the space. As it tumbled to the ground, it desperately whacked at its burning arm, trying to stifle the flames. And, in the face. A blast of light, so bright. Retinas screamed, sizzled, burnt. Blinded, Geneticore stumbled to its feet. Three pulses, dark and dragon, smashed in that same place. Its head snapped back, and a guttural cry rent the air. Psychic blasts couldn't penetrate to its concussed brain, though, and in that second, it recovered. It recovered, and it clicked. Click click. On equal footing with the blind boy, for a moment, but now it was building an image. It raised its arm. An old trick, now. With a crack, its arm ignited, and its claw shot off. It broke the barrier, hit the magician. Its poor defenses crumbled. Two shots of electricity grazed harmlessly off. Mud, in the eyes. Pointless now. Buckshot smashed against its skull. Blood sprayed across the Observatory, but the bullets didn't penetrate far. Recovering, Geneticore tensed up, preparing a little something more. ![]() 378/500 (Blinded) ![]() (Fainted) ![]() (Fainted) 214/720 ![]() 397/460 ![]() 287/310 68/200 |

.5 Pokemon/Items Ben staggered to his feet, ears still ringing painfully, wincing at the stinging pain that the water had left behind. The blast of thunder had made it hard to make out Ian's words, even though they were right next to each other still. So it took him a bit of precious time to process it. Which meant the first round of attacks and counterattacks was over before he got the gist. Armored hide, no holding back...this was no good. Wings didn't help, either. He pressed a couple potions into Ian's hands, for his pokemon, and whistled a moment. Three ears perked up at the whistle. “Faith, over here!” The leafeon didn't need telling twice, bounding over as he tried to make sense of things. “Anyone with fire, use it on Jax!” he called to the others, hoping they'd listen. With Sunny Day in effect, Charcoal in her jaws, activating Flash Fire would maximize her fire attacks. He didn't give her further instruction, since she knew what that would mean. The white arcanine howled again, inhaling to unleash another torrent of hellfire at the genticore. She would keep it up if possible, but the sun blaze comfortingly to her, as well, as she crouched low, ready to move if it came toward her. “Anubis...give it back.” He crouched a bit, knowing the lucario would get his gist, murmuring to Faith around the ringing in his ears from the attack. “If he puts anything to sleep, sweetie, wake them up. Otherwise, keep up the encouragement.” The leafeon yapped and barked, from a safer distance this time around. She, with Sunny Day up, should be immune to sleeping, but one blow from the monster would lay her flatter than a pancake. Anubis drew his lips back in a snarling grin as he caught his trainer's enigmatic comment to him. Oh, he could do that. Now, he could take a hit and return it twofold, but he'd have to survive a hit in any fashion for that to work. And figuring he would was suicidal at best. No, he had other tricks, that would do better for this. And Ben knew he did, too. He focused his attention on the Genticore, sliding around behind it and its preparations, copying the aura and movements precisely as he did so, copying everything the monster was doing to throw it back into the things back if he could. If he could manage, he intended to pre-empt the evil thing, but even if not, he would still give as good as it did... ~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~ Giving Ian a hyperpotion and a superpotion. .3 ![]() Katrina Cerberus noted, dully as she slung her rifle back, that this thing was the most resistant thing she had ever seen. Trying to remember Darkrai, had it even been able to take this many hits? Darkrai had tricks and had made copies to fuck them up... this grotesque creature was just resilient as hell. Their pounding away on it was doing something, at least. Deathly calm, she pulled a revive and a potion from her pocket, and walked over to where her fire dragon had fallen. Tossing the revive into the small fire on the tip of his tail, it sparked and the flame ignited bright blue for a second. The lizard grumbled, and pushed himself up, hissing. "Fly." Trying to dodge the lightning was stupid, if it could just drown them. At least in the air, the dragon was swift and could attempt a dodge of something. He growled, and spewed flames from his mouth, washing them over the Arcanine as he flew in to continue attacking the Geneticore's face. His wings flapped hard, keeping him at speed, allowing him to dodge if the need be. At least, he was going to try. His trainer frowned, taking the potion she had pulled out and spraying it on the angry Tyranitar that was standing and waiting for orders. When he felt the medicine, though, he charged in once he felt a little better. They were all aiming at the same point... but Aloid didn't notice. Nor care. He just charged at the thing, intent on breaking it into little bits. No matter what it was, it was going to snap in half at some point or another. The trainer didn't think that was such a good idea... but he wasn't going to stop now. Ozma did his own thing, charging in to simply smash his arms into the Geneticore's face. It was where everyone was aiming, and maybe after all this fire and whatnot, he'd be able to smash its brain and they could be done with this... Even though the high-power tranquilizer dart had simply been swatted away, Kat backed off and tried again. It couldn't see the dart to swat it away this time... The ink is better than the sword

.3 ![]() Sasha let out a yelp as he was swatted away by the ferocious beast, and retreated back to Ian, licking his wounds indignantly. He and Nibbs returned to Ian just as the battle really heated up. Acid mixed with water washed over the field, Sasha and Nibbs jumped up and clung to Ian's jeans with ther claws as the liquid rushed by Ian's feet. He wasn't in the thick of the battle so it was rather shallow, but Ian worried for his poor rubber soles. He heard crashing and roaring as the battle raged in front of him. He was silently grateful he had gotten away from where he was before. He didn't want to get caught in that chaos. As soon as the torrent of liquid finished washing by, his pokemon once again hopped down ready for battle. Ian felt two potions pressed into his hands by Ben. Once again he was being saved by the more experienced trainers. Ian knew better than to complain or take the high road at this point. He quickly to each one and used one on Nibbs and one on Sasha. Cuts and bruises suddenly disappeared and healed themselves. Sasha let a satisfactory purr and was as good as new. Nibbs still had a few cuts and scrapes but was looking much perkier. Now if only Ian had any idea how to utilize them effectively since they were so small in this battle of giants. Well, Nibbs had some long, sharp fangs but really that was it and they weren't much use unless they could actually penetrate the enemy... Ian suddenly straightened a little, and idea coming to him. Eyes were squishy, and generally had lines straight to the brain, which meant no armor underneath them. Nibb's fang was a good 5-6 inches long, perhaps it could manage to pierce through the geneticore's eye and reach its brain, which had to be vulnerable. If this beast had a brain as tough as its skin they were doomed. He was aided by the fact that the genticore was, as it had been in the grasslands, aiming for the biggest targets, and Sasha an Nibbs were anything but. "Alright Nibbs, I want you to hyper fang that thing in the eye and get out of there quickly again. Try to get it as deep as you can to get to its brain," Ian said quickly. He paused a second, trying to figure out exactly what Sasha could do. Hadn't Steely fired some kind of gun? It hadn't sounded like a real bullet though so that left... what? Some kind of drugged dart? Ian guessed that the geneticore probably had deflected all gunfire at it, so the dart was laying somewhere unused. Well it was better than nothing at least. "Sasha, go get the dart that Steely fired and shove it into the hole Nibbs opens up with his fangs. Punch it in as deep as you can afterward if you have to," Ian's voice sounded a whole lot more confident than he felt, but it was important for the pokemon for him to sound in control. "TA!" "Meeeowthhh~" The pair nodded and dashed off in two slightly different directions. Nibbs went straight for the geneticore, leaping onto its face, fangs glowing and attempting to plunge his dagger like fangs into the blinded but still soft eyes. As soon as that was done however, he pushed off the geneticore and used all his speed to weave in between the many confused pokemon on the battle field and back to Ian. Sasha meanwhile, dashed over to where the the dart had been batted casually away by the geneticore. With all his speed he grabbed it and immediately turned to face the geneticore. He jumped and clung to the beast's face for a moment, dart in hand, before attempting to shove it down needle first into the eye that was (hopefully) damaged by Nibbs. If all went well a moment later Sasha's fist would glow with dark energy and he would punch the needle as far into the genticore's brain via eye as far as he could. Hopefully a dose of the super sedatives straight to the brain would at least slow the beast down. ~Used super potion on Nibbs, hyper potion on Sasha Nibbs ![]() 130/160 ![]() ~Hyper fang to one of the geneticore's eyes, attempting to get as deep and close to the brain as possible ~Quick attack to escape Sasha ![]() 200/200 ![]() ~Quick attack to grab the tranq dart and shove it into the geneticore's damaged eye, also trying to get brain. ~Assurance used on wound to try to punch dart further in. .3 Various revives and potions were distributed, a few moments were spared while everyone mopped themselves up and tended to their wounded. The ghastly, unwieldy Geneticore had suffered many wounds as well, but it didn't have a moment to spare for those injuries. The flesh of its face had burned and liquefied. Around its large horn, more yellow-stained bone revealed itself. Its eyes were mutilated. It was beautifully disgusting, grotesquely pleasing to the eye. The reason, though, it cared not for its injuries was because it had been buy building its own brand of the familiar energy blast. Its hulking scythes glowed. Its tentacles unfurled, rippling and undulating like the sea. Its monstrous mouth opened, and clicked. It found its target. The largest of those not moving. Mouth still opened, that mysterious undefined energy pooled, and grew into a large ball. Those with a more profound sense of urgency launched themselves or their attacks towards the brute but none would make it in time. The growing orb launched forward, a focused beam. It tore through the Swampert, the Manectric, and they both went the way of Alakazam before them. Geneticore pooled that last vestiges of that blast, and tried to turn to face a new opponent. But, it had opposition, now. First thing's first. A Meowth and a Rattata, small and agile, leaped into its mutilated face. The monster clicked desperately, trying to gain a bearing on their position, but right in its face, they were hard to distinguish. It swiped angrily in front of its head, colliding with the rat, but it held on, driving its teeth into those aforementioned ruined eye socket. The brain was too far back, though, but Meowth had another plan. One of the trainers fired another high-powered tranquilizer dart. They were right to think the barbaric creation couldn't see it coming this time. It hit in one of the least protected areas, the neck, but even there, there was little penetration. A single drop of the anesthetic pooled on the skin, and fell. But, the Meowth agilely avoided the swiping claw, snagged the dart, and jammed it into the other eye socket. In a flash, the rat beside it darted back to its trainer. The Meowth had one last parting gift, though. It pulled back, and drove its paw into the eye, pushing the dart onward. Withdrawn, the paw dripped with blood and other fluids, and the only indication that it had succeeded was the consequent stumble, and misplaced swipe far in front of the clawing kitty. It too returned to its trainer's side. Next came the most unholy of combinations. Leafeon again added to the Arcanine's power. The Charizard, as it took to the air, washed a little fire over the bright white fur. Boosted beyond measure, they both unleashed their fire attacks, each lick of flame zooming onward like a bullet, completely invisible to the blinded beast's clicks. They hit the tortured face like a physical object, the recoil was so tremendous. That wasn't all. Lucario, the sneak, moved in conjunction, copying Geneticore's blast from earlier. This time, two identical, if scaled down, version of the beam tore through the terrible fire. This titanic attack would fell most legendaries. But Geneticore had one final trick up its sleeve. It held on, with a only a fraction of its lifeforce. It had one last safe refuge. Its vast, black wings spanned the length of the Observatory as they unfolded, with a few strained flaps, it managed to take flight, if only barely. Metagross and Tyranitar leaped into action. Geneticore was only inching skyward as they tore across the makeshift battlefield. But it picked up steam. They jumped at the last moment, at the pinnacle of their leaps they let loose, but they could only reach the now-rapidly disappearing legs. They shattered, but they weren't vital. Crippled greatly, the Geneticore soared higher and higher, and disappeared. This left the Observatory. ![]() 1/500 Used Geneticore-brand Hyper Beam, Geneticore-brand Endure Gone ![]() ![]() Fainted EXP was going to be more convoluted, but because of omfg uber flamethrower and the rest, all active Pokemon get a flat 3 ![]() Oh hey, let me clarify this. .5 (I'm realy surprised no one else has responded yet, even.) Pokemon/Items Flames roared, Anubis sent a copy of the beast's own energy back at it, the earth cracking under the immense flames that the white arcanine poured across the battlefield, augmented by the fury of a fire dragon. And then, it was over. The plans had worked, somehow, despite everything. What was learned from all this? When stuck against the impossibly powerful, heap everything you can into one bowl, throw it at it, and hope. It actually works on occasion. Ben sagged a bit, falling back to a sitting position, head resting on one knee as Jax roared triumphantly after the retreating form of the genticore, as it vanished into the blazing sky. The sunlight flowed over her injuries, soothing them as she paced regally back to Ben, Anubis following slowly, as the trainer sat there for a few moments, exhausted now that the adrenaline abandoned him. Ben fumbled a potion out of his pack for his own companions, spraying it over the lucario's injuries as he stoically took the stinging as the injuries mended a fair bit. "That..." He gave up. He really didn't know what to say, other than to stagger to his feet after a moment, leaning against Jax. "I...suppose we should see if there's anything left of the observatory, at this point..." He started that way, slowly, mulling over the fight. "Thanks for the advice, Ian...really helped a lot," he added after a moment, once his ears weren't ringing so much. He probably wouldn't have gone that overboard without it, really. At least not at first. The odds of them finding anything in the place after that beast had been through it, however...he would be honestly surprised. Ben paused in his musings as they passed the cracked and mangled telescope, lying like a discarded toy beside the ruins of the building. One had to wonder how long it would take to replace this place...he sighed softly, and moved on. ((Jax is using Morning Sun to recover her injuries, and Ben is using a Super Potion on Anubis.)) |

.3 ![]() Somehow, the monster managed to survive, and fly away. Even with Pyre up in the sky like he was, the charizard... didn't go after it for some reason. Shame, that. Oh well, as if this situation wasn't fucked up enough as it was. Hopefully the damn thing couldn't heal somehow. Unless someone healed it. That was a scary thought. Pointing the rifle at the sky so it wasn't pointing at anyone, she frowned at where Geneticore had just been, and shook her head. What a mess... she was half tempted to just leave and forget about this whole thing. It didn't seem like it served any purpose aside from to piss them all off. But, at the very least, they had to check the observatory first. Switching the rifle back over to bullets, she stood up from where she was crouching, and headed for the observatory. Her Pokemon followed, as rock solid and quiet as she so suddenly was. Aloid hissed slightly as they approached, and went in through any opening or door that might have been left. The three Pokemon were ready in case there was anything else in there, but the girl took a look around to see if there was anything of interest. Her Pokemon, taking the hint, did the same. .3 ![]() The geneticore let out a final screech and flew away into the night. Ian listened tensely for several seconds, willing it to be gone for good. When it was apparent it wasn't coming back Ian's heart stopped pounding and his ears finally began to stop ringing. Both Nibbs and Sasha returned to him without taking any more damage. He crouched down and patted both of them on the head. "Good work guys," he said. "Mmm, did you see that arcinine broil that beast?" Sasha said eyes gleaming, "Such a strong flame burns in him!" The cat licked his lips and began slinking towards the fiery hound. Ian had no idea what Sasha was saying but he recognized his tone of voice. "Sasha, if you do anything you're not supposed to I'm going to withdraw you and not let you out except to battle," he said flatly. He was not in the mood to deal with Sasha's shenanigans, especially without Dalal to translate for him. This whole ordeal was beginning to strain on him no matter how calm he remained externally. Ben spoke to him and Ian stood up. "Oh- that's good. I'm glad I could help," Ian said with a faint smile, truly glad he did help the more experienced blind trainer. With all of the pokemon threats gone, Ian had to remind himself of why they had come to the observatory in the first place. They were supposed to be looking around for clues as to what was going on with Slygood and Giratina. Ian took his cane out and began moving about, trying to find his way through the rubble. "Hey, you two investigate the rooms as we go," he said to Nibbs and Sasha, knowing that their eyes were more helpful than his blind ones. The two scattered away, poking around as he made his way through the room. Ian's cane hit something that wasn't wall and he reached for the door and opened it. ~Ian's specifically feeling around for tables/equipment ~Sent out Nibbs and Sasha to investigate the general area. |
