A small crowd of pokemon, accompanied by a human, left Deepwood in the late afternoon. Ben kept one hand on the white arcanine pacing beside him, so that she could keep him from walking into trees or the like. Trotting around them, sometimes before, sometimes falling behind as he paused to sniff at a plant or other interesting bit of scenery, was Fate, his Absol. Draped over his shoulders, like a silver and green stole was Faith the Leafeon, dozing. Soaring silently overhead, he had Maya, his Xatu out, letting her stretch her wings again. And act as translator for the moment. Anubis and Shinobi were also with him, but stored in their pokeballs. Even if the Lucario would deny it, he'd had a fair bit of stress recently and could use the rest, and Shinobi, while fully healed, could use the rest from his fight against the Breloom and Camerupt. Mostly, he wanted to let Fate get some experience, as well as Faith and Maya. There was a long walk ahead, he was sure. "If you see any apricorn trees or berry plants, guys, let me know." He'd been checking up a bit on growing plants and stuff, with his poketech, and a few apricorns would be nice, especially considering he still had some free conversion coupons gathering dust in his pack. Fate bounded past, and Ben chuckled softly. "Like this place, Fate?" He wasn't entirely sure to make of the absol, but this made him feel a lot better, compared to the other times he'd had the pokemon out. He seemed rather solemn, even now, but at least he was behaving more like he would expect of a canine in a forest. ~~~~~~~~~~ Keeping an eye out for: Apricorn or Berry plants Travel Plan (hoo boy): Shrine Grounds, Ancient Oak, Thick Forest 3, Thick Forest 1, Crystal Lake, Lightly Covered Trees 5, Heavily Covered Trees, Clearing, Heavily Covered Trees 2, Lightly Covered Trees 1, Slumber Only 10 landmarks... 0.3 ![]() Fate was, unsurprisingly, keeping his quiet demeanor as usual, silently prowling down the path beside you. But even in his extremely reserved and introverted nature the Absol had not revealed any signs of disdain at you trying to get him roused. On the contrary, he was used to you trying to engage him like that, and perhaps even relieved that you weren't trying to draw a line between you and him. Beyond this very bizarre mix of behaviors was reinforced respect between you and the Absol, and possibly even care and concern, love, that sort of stuff. This was not to say that the Absol would change drastically for your sake, but there was definitely a certain amount of affection there. But despite the alertness of Maya and Fate, it was Faith who roused himself into activity out of the three. The Leafeon, who had been reclined against your shoulders, suddenly perked up at the scent of something sweet and pleasant - something like a berry, perhaps, or maybe even rare honey. It was rather amusing to see the Leafeon raise her head up, trying to detect the direction of the scent, still draped across your shoulders. Then, without warning, the Leafeon jumped from your back and started prowling around you in a circle. Everyone else stopped instinctively, simply watching Faith do her excitable tap-dance around you, being suddenly hyperactive (and obsessively cute) over the presence of such a pleasant thing. Things began to come into your mind subconsciously. What could the sweet scent mean? A berry, yes. Or maybe some food. Or maybe those delectable honey used to attract Pokemon. Or a Sweet Scent used by strong plant-types in the forest, to attract gullible foes to the dinner plate. You turned back to reality at the thought of something so disturbing, but dear Faith was almost beyond control. Barking excitedly and jumping in a frenzy, Faith merely cried out some proclamations at Maya before jumping right into the Forest, almost oblivious to your calls. Of the many times you tried to recall your Leafeon, Faith only turned around once and beckoned you to follow her fast. She was moving so unbelievably fast that by the time you were able to digest Maya's words (which was not very long, trust me) the Leafeon was seen diving into the undergrowth. '...Faith says that she had smelled something that can possibly be a berry, and wants you to come.' Fate merely stood beside you, his expression unreadable. Better get your Leafeon back fast, if - touchwood - there really was an obscenely strong Victreebel trying to lure Faith to her doom or something. Edited by Kari, Jan 3 2010, 07:46 PM.

.4 (Okay, I'm impressed with how well you handled all the personalities.) They walked for a while, in relatively comfortable silence, Ben listening as the Absol explored the area. Jax guided him expertly through the trees, Maya gliding silently overhead. 'It's nice to get out like this...' she commented finally, in Ben's head. After so long with only Anubis or Inari, he started slightly at her femine, flutelike echo. "Sorry, Maya..." 'It's all right, things happen.' The bird's forgiveness was simple, and absolute, and for a moment they melded, giving him the most decidedly odd impression of what it was like to be flying overhead, and a somewhat less odd and more painful flash of the what the xatu was seeing, gliding through the tree branches, and it was the psychic's turn to apologize. 'Sorry...' "It's fine...I'll get used...hey!" Ben broke off with a yelp as Faith sat up abruptly, throwing his balance completely off, leaving him clinging to Jax to keep from falling over. Usually he would have been able to manage, but with the distraction of talking with the xatu and the fact that he was still recovering from getting dunked into freezing water threw his reactions off. "Oooooh....what IS that?" Snrfsnrfsnrfsnrf. Faith leapt from his shoulders, as Jax stood still as a rock, letting him find his balance once more, and then he reached out to try to find the Eeveelution and try to soothe her, but she ducked out from under his questing hand irritably, bounding first one way, then the other, sniffing noisily. "It smells...tasty! Maybe it'sa berry..." Sniffsniffsniffsniff. "Andandandand...THAT way! Hurry!" And with that she was gone. "Faith..!" Ben reached futiley after the silver-furred leafeon, listening to her crash through the brush with all the grace of a wounded deer. '...Faith says that she had smelled something that can possibly be a berry, and wants you to come.' Maya fluted in his mind, after a moment of hesitation. "Geh..." Fate remained silent, looking in that direction, head lifted high as if he were scenting the breeze, or listening intently to something, but if he was, it was only something he could smell or hear, as Ben stood back up quickly, grabbing hold of Jax's shoulder tightly. "Fate, Maya, catch up to her! C'mon Jax..." He broke into a rather bad lope, stumbling repeatedly over objects he couldn't see, as the absol and xatu nodded once, in unison, giving chase to the eager leafeon. ~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~ Currently: Chasing down the runaway leafeon! 0.3 ![]() Incidentally, your wild goose chase had a secondary effect of sending you into the Ancient Oak - it seemed that you weren't going to deviate too much from your path, after all. However, as the increasing sound of rustling bushes started to worry you, as it seemed that Pokemon were starting to emerge from their hiding places just to mow you down. In any case, Faith's prolonged disappearance was starting to increase the mental stress in your mind, as Fate and Maya kept ahead of you, their eyes opened wide to spot any anomaly. Why, oh why, did Faith have to wander off so disobediently. But then again, with Maya searching from the skies and Fate being an expert of those dark places, there should be no reason why Faith could avoid your search party for so long. Even if you were blind, your Pokemon were pretty much capable in looking around... And the smell of that supposedly sweet stuff caught your nose finally, as Fate rushed right into the spot in question. Absols were particularly sharp in hunting down their prey, especially if there were distinct traces down there to follow. Maya soared across the forest to assist Fate in his mission, as Jax allowed you to ride on his magnificent white mane. Time to retrieve his disobedient Pokemon, and perhaps to find the berry that the Leafeon supposedly spotted. There was no fierce Victreebel, which should allow you to relax for a bit. However, the poor Faith was inclined on the grass, crying softly, as a Heracross stood in the midst of what seemed like sticky yellow stuff, slurping them up. Above it were Combees trying desperately to shoo the Heracross away, while the bug and fighting Pokemon continued stealing their precious honey without woe or concern. The Combees would have attacked the Heracross, but they would definitely be futile in their acts. Not to mention that they were pretty much scared of defeat, death, or getting caught by trainer by accident. 'That mean Heracross was taking the honey. MY honey...' You finally arrived, and though you could no see a thing, you were certain that there was certainly no fighting. Maya and Fate simply stared open-mouthed (figuratively) at the mess before Maya spoke softly to you, as though you might take offense at the current situation. Over Faith's soft cries, loud buzzing and even louder slurping of honey, Maya spoke to you telepathically. 'It's... it's not what you'll exactly expect...' ![]() Lv. 32 | 128/128 ![]() ~ Slurping honey~ x1, x1Lv. 25 | 50/50 ![]() ~ Pissed at the Heracross, but helpless Condition: Faith cannot act against Heracross next round due to fear. |

.3 And so, their crashing through the shrubbery brought at least one positive-ish side effect. The holy grounds passed beyond them, and they passed under the shelter of a tree so massive that there was a moment of fleeting wonder as to how long it had been there. Since the world began? Quite possibly. Still, they weren't allowed to dwell in awe at the magesty of the ancient life form, as there was a sitressed buzzing, and a certain amount of wailing going on. Fate recovered first, and moved over to Faith, reaching down to nuzzle her gently, soothingly, as he kept an ear cocked in the direction of the Heracross and Combees. He wasn't about to get within a mile of that. He could see his fate all to clearly, if he did. Disaster would be an understatement, as his two banes were combined into a single force, with one of those creatures. He'd just stay over here, thankyouverymuch, and try to soothe the upset Leafeon. Maya fluttered, circling above the three bugs, depthless black eyes focused on the scene, as Ben and Jax arrived last, Ben bearing no few minor nicks and scrapes for the wild ride, Jax rumbling angrily at the sight of the sobbing grass pokemon, flames beginning to flicker about her muzzle as she turned her brown eyes upon the apparent guilty parties. 'It's... it's not what you'll exactly expect...' Both Ben and Jax paused at that, as Maya hovered overhead. "Okay...what happened?" Maya hesitated for a few long moments, as she was still trying to piece it together, herself. 'Well...I think, mind you...that Faith was attracted by the Combee's honey, and went to get some...I don't know if she even succeeded or not, and the Heracross took it instead.' She hesitated for a few more seconds, then added hastily, 'He could have already been here, I don't know...but the combees aren't happy at all with him taking their honey, either...' "....." Ben stifled a sigh with some effort, patting Jax gently on the shoulder. Here was another one of those situations that he really didn't know what was in the right thing to do. The heracross was stealing honey from someone, sure...but it had to eat too, didn't it? Still...as was his wont, the distressed buzzing couldn't really be ignored, nor could the sobbing leafeon. He moved over to scoop the grass eeveelution into his arms, ostentatiously to soothe her, but more accurately to prevent her from jumping the honey as soon as the situation was taken care of. 'Maya...' he concentrated on the bird, trying to relay that he wished for her to remove the Heracross from the situation, as quickly as possible. The pokedex in his pocket beeped, as well, quietly, letting him know that it had registered these new species. The xatu kited higher on the air a moment, then dove abruptly, glowing faintly as she dove at the beetle, aiming to lance him from behind. Her eyes glowed even brighter than the rest of her as she prepared to lauch an assault to overwhelm his senses if he survived the first strike... ~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~ "Maya" Lv. 2884/84 ![]() ~ Aerial Ace + Psychic (if needed) vs. Lv. 32128/128 ![]() ~ Stealing honey (from who, is debatable) Travel Plan: Shrine Grounds, Ancient Oak, Thick Forest 3, Thick Forest 1, Crystal Lake, Lightly Covered Trees 5, Heavily Covered Trees, Clearing, Heavily Covered Trees 2, Lightly Covered Trees 1, Slumber |

0.3 ![]() If anything, Faith was almost inconsolable at the loss of his honey. It could perhaps be considered funny that the Leafeon was so obsessed with that sticky, sweet stuff, but the seemingly spoilt nature of the little Pokemon meant that you might need to enforce something a little stricter at Faith. You wouldn't want the Pokemon to go wandering around randomly again, right? Such effort was needed to locate her and protect her from getting assaulted by, say, a stronger and more menacing Pokemon... not to mention that you couldn't guarantee her safety at all if she were to go dashing away without warning, just like that. Hell, a little discipline, at the very least, would ensure that you didn't need to worry about your Leafeon being engulfed by a swamp, a bog, quicksand, a ravenous bunch of Victreebels or something like that. And to put it bluntly, Faith should thank her lucky stars that Vespiquens didn't swarm and destroy her as they probably could, or that the Heracross wasn't interested in impaling her in the gut. In fact, the fact that Faith was unscratched was a miracle indeed. An amazing impossibility that somehow happened to you. Or maybe it was the special effect of the honey, hmm? But you decided to take out the biggest threat, so on with it. Unluckily for you, Heracross' speed was slightly faster than that of Maya's, so the Heracross has turn priority. And what a choice of attack, to utilise Endure to last against what you might throw against it. And so Maya's Aerial Ace, which wouldn't have knocked it out anyway (barely; even though Flying moves are 4x effective against the Heracross and Xatu gets a bonus from STAB, the bird's dismal Attack stat makes it not as strong as it should. So says Frac's calculator.), merely pushed the Heracross' HP into the critical zone. But the bird wasn't fast enough to chain two attacks together, and so Heracross took his chance. Oh god, Counter- And Maya was down, just like that. Poor thing. Jax went up and finished the Heracross off with whatever move that he could think of instinctively, but this wasn't supposed to happen. Faith's greediness caused a world of pain, and unjustified sacrifice for the little Xatu, who worked only to protect you and your companions. Faith was still trying to get at the honey, despite the fact that one of her allies fell due to her immaturity. The Combees were not inclined to provoke your attack, but they would not hesitate to attack if they sense trouble from you. | Maya Lv. 28 | 0/84 ![]() ~ Aerial Ace ~ Knocked out :jax | JaxLv. 40 | 160/160 ![]() ~ Knocked Heracross out ~ Ready to deal with Combees :faith | FaithLv. 26 | 78/78 ![]() ~ Trying to get to honey T.T VS ![]() Lv. 32 | 0/128 ![]() ~ Endured Aerial Ace + Counter @ Maya ~ Knocked out by Jax x1, x1Lv. 25 | 50/50 ![]() ~ Ready to attack Faith, but passive at the moment Jax gets 0.8 !

.3 (Side note, there was a discussion the past day or two, where people agreed that Endure, Protect and Detect needed changing, and I think that the consensus is that they are going to be unable to be comboed with offensive moves in the same 'round.' Since I'm not certain this is in effect yet, and I'm pretty sure Maya was screwed either way, I'm not fussed, tho...just thought I'd warn you so you knew of it for future mods. :) Side note two. Jax is female. n.-) Jax vanished in a blur of speed, knocking the heracross out even before he realized she was there, after he Countered Maya's maneuver, sending the poor psychic crashing into the brush. She huffed softly at the bug on the ground, ears slicked back, before almost pointedly turning her nose up at the honey and mincing back to Ben, over all the scattered debris. Ben on the other hand, was dealing with a completely different issue. Namely that there was one unconscious bird that needed recalling or something, but his hands were completely full of flailing leafeon. "Leggo, that's my honey, I saw it first, I wa-npmh..." Ben had finally managed to clamp a hand over her mouth, effectively silencing her. "Jax...Fate..." The white arcanine knew immediately what Ben was asking, going over to gently pick Maya up in her jaws, and return to his side. Ben wrapped his arms a bit more tightly around the grass pokemon, momentarily squashing her slightly, into letting out a muffled squeak and trying to look up at him with a rather stunned expression. The absol, on the other hand, wasn't quite as in tune with his trainer, but followed the Arcanine's lead for now, moving behind Ben and watching the Combee's warily. Faith flailed about a bit more, as Ben bowed deeply in the direction of the humming. "My most sincere apologies for disturbing you." And with that, he made to get out of the area as quickly as he could. He'd recall Faith, but the eeveelutions claustrophobia would make that a big problem...and he had to get her away from the honey before she would listen. He did add, in a undertone, to Jax. "If she gets loose and runs for it, sit on her, next time." ~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~ Apologizing to the combees and trying to get as far away as possible as quickly as is feasible at this point. Edit: Oh, and Jax goes up a level, and APL changes to 30.5. Big changes, there... :P Edited by DarthEevee, Jan 6 2010, 10:33 AM.

.3 This day, you were in luck. You silenced your squabbling young Leafeon, and hulking Jax quietly cleaned up the Xatu, head low and eyes half-closed. You softly apologized and backed away. Content with your sincerity, and that you would be leaving their honey alone, they let you move on without anymore trouble. Now free to move forward, my guess is that you headed northward. With your entire troupe out and about, this was made difficult, angered eeveelution or not. Still, you made due and moved on. You passed through to the Thick Trees, three. Here, the foliage thickened. You were even more inhibited by these new and abundant dangling vines, massive snaking roots, and interloping branches. You were in one of the most undisturbed parts of the region, and for just a moment, there was only the sound of you and your Pokemon trampling through the undergrowth. Beautiful, the way you crushed and stamped and snapped the nature left alone for so long. Now sufficiently guilty, yo spotted two shiny somethings. Well, you certainly hadn't, but Jax did, for she was unperturbed by the war you were raging with forest's growth. In the distance, a Drowzee did battle with a massive Spinarak's web. It was tangled and stuck in the sticky trap, and meekly flailed, anteater nose, arms and legs trying to tear free. Assuming you were listen, you stopped just before walking into one similar construction dangling right in front of you. You couldn't be sure how near the creator lurked, but the feeling that it couldn't be far was pervasive. This singular web could be avoided, but it would likely plague you all through this landmark. Things weren't all bad, though. Dangling in the web was a strangely colored plate. You plucked it from its intricate dangling connections. A Draco Plate. Now, that was rare. Someone was very lucky. Now, though, how would you deal with the minefield of encroaching spider traps? Obstacle: Spider Webs Discovered a ![]() In the distance, a Drowzee is struggling with a web. |

.3 (Epic.) Ben stumbled from time to time, the leafeon in his arms continuing to flail for a while before falling into a sulk, dangling limply from his arms, leaflike ears flat against her back as she hung there limply. He wanted well away from those combees, so as not to have her go back and cause even more issue. Jax stopped abruptly after a time, and he stopped with her, wondering what had caused it. Still, now was as good a time as any, and they were likely far enough away at this point. Fate stood stock still beside him, gaze fixed on a point somewhere ahead. The tangled fate of the Drowzee that Ben hadn't yet realized was there was fascinating to watch... Jax eyed Faith warily as Ben set her down, ready to pounce if she so much as twitched in the direction which they had come from, but in the nature of her sulk, she just flopped into a pile of fur, leaves and unhappiness. Ben knelt by her, and Jax turned her attention elsewhere mostly, just as ill-at-ease with the situation, but for different reasons, than the Absol. "Faith." Ben reached down, figuring out exactly where she was and smoothing down her fur, even as she shifted away sulkily from his hands, he caught her back. "Listen to me. You can't go running off like that, and you can't take things that aren't yours." "That was my honey before that nasty bug..." the silver leafeon retorted, sitting up at that, and edging away, continuing in a similar vein. Ben sighed, not able to understand what exactly what she was saying without Maya, Anubis or Inari out to translate. Speaking of Maya... "It wasn't. And look at what happened because of your greediness." Ben cut through her tirade, pointing towards Jax, still carrying the unconscous bird, causing Faith to fall silent, blinking. "I didn't..." Jax set Maya down beside Ben, as he rummaged in his pack, coming up with a packet of rather powerful medicine. "Whether or not you meant for it to happen, this is a result of your actions." Jax was more willing to say what Ben wasn't, her attention turning away from what fascinated Fate so. The arcanine didn't quite snarl as she barked snappishly at the young eeveelution, ears flat against her skull as Ben doctored the xatu. "You didn't think, you ran off and drug everyone into a situation that could have been avoided. Those combees made that honey. Think about how you'd feel if someone came along and tried to take it away from you without a please or thank you." "That's not...I didn't...that nasy bug..." Even Ben flinched at the loud bark that silenced the leafeon. "That doesn't change that YOU were trying to get at it after WE took care of it for those bugs, without even ASKING them. YOU charged in there, selfishly thinking..." "Jax." Silence filled the small clearing as that single syllable cut across the great canine's tirade. Maya's eyes blinked open as he finished administering the max revive to her, sitting up with a regretful, pained whistle of apology. "It's okay, Maya. You didn't do anything wrong...you did your best." And maybe if Faith hadn't been so flipped out, panicked or obsessed with the honey, she might have been able to have helped turn the tables, he thought a bit morosely, but didn't add it as he smoothed a few feathers down on the bird as she staggered to her feet, spreading her wings experimentally, wincing a little at the lingering headache. 'It's fine, anyhow...but...' "Shoulda left well enough alone, I know." Ben went to clean up the supplies. 'Um...no, I was going to say maybe we should help that drowzee over there not get eaten by a spider.' "What?" "I wouldn't..." Ben yelped as his head cracked into something dangling from the trees, the absol's absent warning far too late. "...stand up that fast if I were you," Fate finished uneccesarily, gaze still fixed on the flailing drowzee. Ben grabbed whatever it was out of the air absently, going to take a step forward, only find Jax's teeth snapping shut on the back of his shirt and yanking him back. 'This place is full of spider webs, Ben...' Maya twittered, flitting up to perch on the arcanine's back. "...." Ben stood there a moment or two, then sighed. "I am so going to regret this..." He turned in the direction of the drowzee, with Maya's help. "Faith, cut through the webs as best you can...Maya, try to pull them out of the way with your powers." He recalled Fate for the moment, so that he wasn't another target. He could have Jax roast her way through them, but he wasn't keen on a forest fire. Still, she was keeping on the lookout for the web-makers, as they tried to get to the trapped tapir. Gen.EXP; 0.3 ------------- Purple eyes lit up from the darkest, densest portion of the trees. A click with her mandibles called forth friends of hers, potential lovers. Silence. Those who were much more perceptive would see three spinarak advancing on the drowzee, slowly spinning the tapir pokemon in a white, silky cocoon. They looked on at the white arcanine, but did not react - those were not their orders. Yellow legs pulled their silky string over the drowzee, slowly causing the pokemon to disappear into a shell of white. As they pulled tighter on their lead string, a faint gasp and wheeze could be heard through the muffled strings of the cocoon. Clicking their jaws to cut the rope, they began to cheer between each other. Soon, they would have dinner and their queen would choose a mate! "A mate, a mate!" the smallest cheered, continuing to pull clods of the silk over the more barren spots. "For our queen!" the medium whistled. He seemed excited, as if he was the queen's top choice. Shifting his attention to the largest, he tilted his head and continued to roll up the drowzee. With his horn, he started to jab at the drowzee and as the shell wriggled and a pained yelp pierced the scene, the pokemon's abdomen face grinned with a sadistic pleasure. Eventually, the medium sized drowzee was shoved out of the way, being hissed at the largest. He seemed most vicious, salivating and glaring at the white dog beyond them. "Nothing will stop our feast!" He seemed to roar, but all it seemed like to any human would be spinaraks chattering wildly, being obnoxious. Fortunately, it was easy to ignore, but not for Jax. Ordered to go after any spiders, the white fire dog suddenly surged forward, fangs bright with molten saliva. Yelping suddenly, Jax was pinned by something - a web! The net-like webbing stuck the massive dog to the ground and several more were shot out from the dense tree branches. Where the trainer and his pokemon had just come through, the webs were replenished, and around them, new webs, creating a maze now, caused them to become caged. Coming down from above, an ariados appeared. Drooling as she whiffed Ben's hair, she readied to crush his head between her jaws. Then! Jax ripped the webs off of her, and she rushed to Ben's aid. Fangs bright, she pulled off one of Ariados's legs, and shoving the large spider away. Hissing, the queenly spider quickly reacted, tying the fire dog's muzzle shut, leaving her to struggle with removing the netting. Now, with the dog out of the way, the wounded queen limped towards the rest of the crew. They needed more flesh for their feast. ---

.3 Oh look, a trap. Sort of. The bait, or eventual dinner number one, in this case, tied up and helpless, check. Relatively stupid person who can't leave well enough alone and decide to try to protect things even if it's supposed to be the way of nature, check. Lots of sticky webs to keep anyone from retreating and tangle said person up if they're not careful, check. And so, it wasn't with any real surprise that Ben froze at the hissing and chittering sounds and Maya whistled a warning. 'They've blocked it off!' No, mostly what came as a real surprise was Jax's yelp of surprise as she was half flattened and tangled in a full out web of streamers. Ben whirled that way as the white arcanine flailed a moment or two in surprise, then froze again, momentarily, as something whuffed at his hair. Things happened pretty quickly at that. He half dodged to the side and half got shouldered aside by Jax as she pounced that which was thinking of chewing on his head, rolling to his feet quickly as a muffled yelp from Jax showed that there was more string, this time kepeing her from opening her mouth. Clever. Shut down Flamethrower, Ember, Fire Fang, Bite, and even Thunder Fang, as well as Roar, likely Helping Hand, and probably even Dragon Pulse, though the spider queen probably didn't know specifically about some of those. It left the only option for a flame attack from Jax being Flame Wheel. Which wasn't a good idea, he didn't think, unless he wanted to start a forest fire. That certainly didn't cripple her, however. One of the biggest assets of an Arcanine was speed, after all... All of this was processed in just perhaps a second at most, as his first pokemon let out a muffled snarl, pawing at the makeshift muzzle, momentarily distracted. "Take them out, work together," Ben called to Maya and Faith, moving away from them and to the side, unable to go to Jax without running over the queen. He let out a short whistle to Jax as well, as Faith scuttled off and Maya took to the nearest tree branch. Her eyes glowed purple as she braced herself, listening to Faith bark enocouragement from the base of the tree, empowering the bird further as she reached for first one mind, then another, going for the most greedy, nasty ones first, attempting to shred synapses and muddles their senses. There were three of them, but...first things first. Jax growled softly, and charged after the spider, fury evident. She wasn't about to get ignored by some piddly little bug that was trying to eat her master and friend. As Ben whistled, she tried to bark in reply, but was muffled by the muzzle, and she lunged again, putting a burst of speed on, as best she could to get between the spider queen and her prey. She would show her just what she was up against if she wanted to hurt Ben while Jax was around... ~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~ Lv. 28 "Maya"84/84 ![]() ~ Psychic x2, one each on the two larger Spinaraks :faith Lv. 26 "Faith"78/78 ![]() ~ Helping Hand x2 on Maya :jax Lv. 41 "Jax"164/164 ![]() x15~ Muzzle String Shot'd shut ~ Extremespeed (as much to keep the spider from getting to Ben or the others before she can do something) + Return @ Ariados vs. Lv. 22 x366/66 ![]() ~ String Shot + Constrict on Drowzee Lv. 4550/135 ![]() ~ Uncatchable Other Stuff: Drowzee dinner (50% )

.3 Some trap... So, these spiders assumed that simply springing an ambush would suffice an end to their hunger. They were wrong, of course... especially when they ambushed a fire powerhouse and its' psychic bird buddy. So, Ariados, the leader one would guess, was the first to get squished. The faithful hound ridded the feasting table of the arachnid, leavin gonly the smaller, more insignificant ones left. And, they, too, weren't to last long. Psychic was spread out, hitting two of the three remaining Spinaraks. And, just as their leader, they too were squishified. This left one lonely Spinarak. Seeing its leader and buddies go down fairly easy, it decided to use its brain. And run. Or, try to. Thos elittl elegs could only go so fast. And, for such a pokemon as Jax, well, it may as well have been over already. You couldn't blame the little bugger for trying though. .7 to Jax, Maya, and FaithYour pokemon *Suffered no damage* vs ![]() Level 22 66/66 -Runnin' away! --Drowzee Dinner still at 50%-- |

.3 (Thank you very much for the mod.) And with that, surprise, surprise, it was over. Then again, there was a reason he hadn't released any of his other pokemon into the fray. Jax crouched, still muzzled, but in a state of righteous fury as the last of the insects, the smallest, did the smart thing and turned to run. She crouched low, ready to go and take him out as well, for their impertinence... A hand on her shoulder stopped her cold however, as a flash of light let Fate back out. "Let it go, girl..." Ben said quietly, as the absol padded over to cut the hapless drowzee out of his constriction. "There you go, be a bit more careful in the future." Fate sat down with a yawn as soon as he had finished, gaze flitting away boredly. Now that things were all handled, this place had gotten kind of boring, really. No more major swirls of impending doom anywhere nearby, he didn't think, but one never knew... Faith, for her part, preened proudly at her successes. She'd done well here, hadn't she? The little leafeon pranced over to Ben, crouching a moment to spring lightly up to his shoulders once more, as Maya watched the last spider go, glow slowly fading from her eyes. 'Are you sure you really want to let it go?' she projected, as Ben carefully pulled at the strings tying his arcanine's mouth shut. 'It could be going to get reinforcements...' "Possibly, but I doubt it..." Ben replied, then recalled both the Absol and the Xatu, one hand still on Jax's shoulder, with a sigh. "But we're getting nowhere fast at the moment...I'd get out of here, if I were you, as well, sir psychic." He nodded in the direction of the Drowzee that had nearly been dinner, and awkwardly clambered atop the white arcanine beside him, Faith perched on his shoulders still as he buried his hands in her thick ruff. The leafeon sent out another barrage of flying leaves at anything that got in their way, as Jax set out at a trot, heading north once more. They had a loooong way to go yet, to reach Slumber, and that was only step one of the planned journey... ~~~~~~~~~~~~ Freeing the tied up drowzee and advising him to get out of here, using razor leaf to cut apart webs and moving north at an arcanine trot and letting the spinarak keep his life for now. .3 Your good deeds did not go unnoticed. You spared a Spinarak, a lowly creature that had laid a plethora of traps around the forest. You could be certain that if it had captured you in one of them that you would not have been shown the same mercy. As you freed Drowzee from its place ensnared in the silky webs, it shivered, perhaps worried that you would attack it like it had been by the fearsome bugs. But, no, once it was cut free, you shooed it away as well. +4 for freeing the Pokemon, + 2 for passing the obstacle. Now, you path ahead was much less obstructed. Just typical forest-fare foliage, which you had become quite accustomed to dealing with. Pushing onward, you soon found yourself on the shores of Crystal Lake, where the waters glittered, so undisturbed as to reflect like a mirror. Flecks of white filled your vision and you felt a chill wash over you. Light snowfall had begun to cover the trees. You were making much northward progress. Reached Crystal Lake. |
